View Full Version : All about Bleach (manga)
Okay my other one got deleted so I decided to make it again.
So remember kids, all Bleach readers unite here! This is your only sanctuary from all the other boardies.
:heh:
Anyway this series is awesome in case you haven't read it. Before it was your typical monster of the week which was fine with me, but now the true beef of the story is starting to unfold. It's a really great read and I can't wait for the next chapter.

Yeap, very good series.
The only thing that bothers me is how it borrows ideas from other shonen series. The story started out with a pinch of YYH in it, Ichigo's battle costume resembles Inuyasha's (right down to the sword), and now Chad has Kazuma's Shell Bullet.
I wouldn't be too surprised if someone picks up Mido Ban's Jagan eye, or Luffy's Gomu Gomu ability. :)

Yeah, I'm following TW's releases of this too, and it's indeed a pretty good manga, one of the better ongoing shounen manga right now IMO.
From what I heard though things get pretty wild later on so I hope we get to see it soon...
I really do hope they make an anime out of this since it seems that a lot of manga based anime are out there (but then, most of the anime ARE based on manga).

Then let's hope that it will be based directily on the manga. One of the few animes I've seen that differ too much from the manga is Love hina and that anime was really bad compared to the manga. They never learn...

yeah, i like this series too. i got to vol. 9 so far.... cant wait if were to put on anime :D
Bleach is great! It may be a little typical at times, but there are some really likeable characters in amongst the shonen-ish storyline. (I fancy myself as a little bit of a Rukia worshipper). I feel it would make a fantastic anime, definitely on my to-buy list.
yay! i love Bleach! XD TW has been releasing a lot of chapters lately!! ^^ i patiently wait for them! as well as some of TW other projects :D

BOHAHAHA I love Bleach I wish it was more popular so I could buy it in collected format instead of getting a little at a time. But maybe it's so good because I so Bleach starved... Whatevah it's cooh!
i also like the drawing style! :) it is simple yet great at the same time!! XD
Bleach seems like a nice manga and I can't wait to see how it will develop in the future. I hope they will be able to pull out an interesting main storyline soon as I don't want it to transform into a "hollow of the week" kind of serie.
Otherwise, the art is nice and I like the charachters that have been presented so far and the general "mood" of the world.
well. in the chapters i've read from TW, it's not a hollow of the week thing anymore.... and from what i hear it's now into a long story arc....

I've read the first 2 vol. of the manga and so far so good. A typical shonen manga.

I just read the first manga thing. I don't know if it was the first volume or what. But I really like this. I hope it stays this good. I just finished the part where the girl gave him half, well maybe more than half of her power to make him a shinigami. So he now has a lot of power. Seems pretty tight. Great twist on the Sixth Sense thing.

Yeah~ I just got my hands on Vol. 10 ~ MUHAHHAHHAHA~
Has anyone read Zombie Powder before?
Its a 4 volume manga done by Kubo Taito before he when on to Bleach. I personnally think its better than Bleach. The characters are much cooler and I thought the series has lots of potential.
Sadly the series ended abruptly at 4 books. I had hoped that he will continue with it, but he went on to Bleach shortly. :(
I recommend you guys to read the series if you can find them. :D
You can get Zombie Powder at toriyamaworld. I read the first two volumes and a half volumes of it. I just stopped reading it. Never really felt like reading it. It wasn't bad though. I'll probably get back to it sometime. I just have to remember what chapter I was at.
As for Bleach, the latest chapter was great. That was a fight I never expected to happen. Can't wait for the next chapter.
i read all of zombie powder that toriyama's world has, it's alright, but i personally like bleach a bit more, maybe cause i think that though there's a larger cast each one is getting to be well-defined.... eh. what do i know...
i do know i liked the last chapter.... heh.
Hmmm... dunno why I just prefer Zombie Powder. I dropped Bleach after 2 volumes.
Not sure how it had developed after that, I think I will try to catch up with it. :D

hey guys bleach is licensed by VIZ i just got that from TW site they say they got it from animeondvd.
bad news to me no more bleach :(
the first vol should be out i think june/july? and though it's gonna be under the shonen jump name, it's not going into the actual magazine as far as i can tell, mainly cause the 1st volume should be out at the same time as HnG's first bound volume..... that's all i know/speculate about at the moment.
NO!!!!!!!!!! BLEACH WAS LICENSED!!!!!!!!!
I think I'll kill myself. Seriously.
Wait. I can't do that. Not before knowing who the true "Friend" is! :D Spoilers fro 20th Century Boys bellow:
Even though Fukubei was revelead to be "Friend"... but the heck! He came back from the dead like nothing really happened.
Man, Bleach was so cool. Now VIZ will take decades to release it... no more Bleach... I'm gonna cry :(

Cry? You should cry if the author decided to quit without ending it. Now you can get it in book form in english, and support the author.
Or are you crying cause it's not free anymore?

Right now there's every sign that Bleach is NOT going into the English Shonen Jump magazine, which means that new volumes should be out every 2 months. If so, they'll get to volume 6...uh...June 2005.
Well anyway, you can still buy the Japanese versions. Volume 11 just came out.
Next week in Bleach is a 51-page climax chapter...that "climax" word is scary.

No, I'm crying cause VIZ will take years to get where TW was. And how will I buy Bleach if I live in Brazil? TW was my only choice.

Maybe you don't know the dollar is worth 3 times the current money here. I won't order things from the USA if I'll have to pay 3 times the price in dollar plus the import tax (which's 60% the price of the product + shipment in R$). Only if I was rich, and I'm not. Let's use some math. Taking in base Viz' Saint Seiya (Knights of the Zodiac) manga price, which's US$9,00, let's see how much it would cost to import here in Brazil.
US$9,00 + US$10,00 (for shipment)= US$19,00
US$19,00 x 3= R$57,00
60% of R$57,00= R$34,20
R$57,00 + R$34,20= R$91,20
Final price of Saint Seiya GN 1= R$91,20
Since Bleach's price will be most likely the same as any other manga from Viz', I'd have to pay R$91,20 for Bleach GN 1. And no, I can't afford paying that in a single book.
PS. R$ (reais) is the current money in Brazil.

So you have to pay three times as much...so what? Wait until there are a bunch of books out and then get them all at once. At least you'll save on shipping.
Maybe you don't know that the dollar is worth 110 times as much as the currency where I currently am. Think about that for a bit and you should see that at least that part of your argument is stupid. How much does a liter of milk cost where you are?

First of all, your math is a bit off . The price for Their Knights of the zodiac manga is $7.95 meaning that your calculations are off by about 5-10 dollars.
Second of all manga is not a need. So no one *has* to provide you with free manga. If you want the manga really badly you're probably better off getting the japanese manga, as it's much cheaper meaning less import fees.
Third of all, it's *your* country that imposes the import fees. It's to prevent your country's dollar from deterorating even further. It's to discourage buying into other currencys to purchase things. So it's not our fault nor the scanlater's fault, so there for neither us nor the Scanlater should be forced to facilitate you. You can just burn in a ditch for all I care.
No, the problem is, Viz turned gay a while ago (like Raijin and Dark Horse) telling that their products are not to be sold outside of the US (and I think Mexico too >>?). I've seen some manga from viz here a while at a whooping price of 35 euro~ :)
I understand people can pay a little more for manga, but that's insane. >.> And Viz obviously doesn't want people outside of the US to buy it anymore, so I don't really see why they should.
*still pissed at raijin for stealing my Slam Dunk fix >.>*

well bleach is a great manga and i really enjoyed it but its a really bad news to me that it got licensed since i wont be able to read it anymore and if i intended to import it (which would cost me a fortune) i'd have to wait for 3 years for viz to reach were TW was.
actualy i apreciate what TW did by translating it and introducing me to it and i would like to thank them for it and i understand why the stoped the project.
non the less i do understand the reason why vicious is disapointed even if u liked the manga there r limits on how far u would go on buying it if it cost u more than u could afford how do u expect anyone to react

yes, it's easy to say "Wait until you can buy more" and stuff like "Oh, mine is like worst currency with dollar" and blablabla...
the main problem is: Brazil is a poor country, and so is our currency and people... (yes, I'm brazilian) ...
second point: here in Brazil there are some licensed manga, but it's the same as getting used toilet paper and printing in it. and I'm not even saying about the price which is abusive
Of course, there's always that alternative to grab like 4 or 5 friends and order all together, but still, the product will be expensive to import.
maybe in your country you may see scanlation as a bridge to licensing, but I see as an only opportunity to read manga. since I can't affod learning japanese (time and money) , so I guess I can't buy japanese manga.
it's easy for everybody outside talk about how there are easy solutions. I just regret that Bleach got licensed, to be honest, I hope the guy who closed the contract dies from heart attack.
and another thing: don't say "Learn japanese", "Work to earn money" and that so old saying that you people like to use as solutions.
as I said before, it's easy to talk while you're outside the main stuff.
Hehe, in some way I agree with you tamex.
It's pretty easy for americans to say: buy the anime/manga our companies licensed, but how many of them would buy something from any European (doesn't have to be European per se, just an example) company? Ah yea.. A lot of them don't know french or german or whatever.. Well learn it I guess. :)
Bleach is up to vol 3 in French, you could always get those to get to vol 6 faster. XD And Glenat doesn't release only one vol a year or smth.

I got the manga for $5 smthing CAD, i think it was pretty good.
Well I'll buy it regardless. Bleach is a good Manga, viz isn't really known for doing a spectacular job with their product but hopefully it'll turn out well. Naruto just killed me with their translations but Shaman King and Onie Piece aren't SOOOOOO bad.

I have bought several books from amazon.co.uk. The most recent is Fool's Fate by Robin Hobb, which came out in the UK a couple months before the US's February release. Just couldn't wait...
And when I get around to buying the Harry Potter books, I'm not buying the American editions.

You can't, sorry. It's against forums' rules to ask for illegal materials, and licensed manga is counted as one of them.
Unlisenced is illegal as well..

Unlisenced is illegal as well..
Well, that's true... :heh: But downloading lisensed manga is more illegal... I guess... :heh: Well, at least, asking for unlisensed manga is not against A-suki's rules. I'm not sure why, though. >_>
making liscenced manga available can result in lawsuit action from US companies, which will actually do it sometimes. there are no US companies to bring about lawsuit action on un-liscenced manga/anime, but the original creators have the option to, however since most of the time scanslating/subbing ups the popularity of it worldwide, it usually turns into a profit, and that makes companies happy. and it costs more to sue someone across borders..... i think or maybe it's more paperwork.... which ends up costing more in lawyer-iffic fees. since there's such a proliferation of US lawyers, they'll usually do it for cheap since they need money for baby's new shoes.
of course i could just be making a mockery of everything.
Im looking for Bleach Vol6+. Thnx

OK, I started reading Bleach around Christmas last year, got through 2 volumes and stopped. Does it get past the cliche "This child has powers/whoa, his powers are enormous; more then was imagined/he still pulls out more power/wow, another monster of the week" syndrome? I got fed up with that DBZ-style crap and stopped reading it. I see it has a pretty big following, and with the advent of it's anime debut close at hand I'm considering it a second chance. Does it indeed get better, or does it stay cliche-filled, and most people just don't care because it's too "cool?" (Like Black Cat {Cowboy Bebop anyone?})

First 3 volumes are best. Current arc is pretty much like DB. Be warned the series have lots of training and power ups but there is a hint of romance in it. I think you should least read the volume 3. The battle with Grand Fisher is emotional.
Why is like that that everything always end up being compared to Naruto. :bash:
And by the way about Black Cat. I have read what TW got to offer I don't like it at all.

Yeah, Black Cat was awful. To me it was just a blatant ripoff of Cowboy Bebop. The characters and story and everything. I've started up Bleach again, am through 12 chapters in one sitting. It's actually catching my interest more this time around, so I'll continue with it for awhile. Is Viz's translation for Bleach any good? I may be compelled to buy this sometime.

Heh, I know, a lot of titles are like that, but some are better then others. The training scenes in DBZ were god-awful. The ones in HxH were interesting. Naruto's are OK, but not the greatest. They're good in the sense that Naruto's character grows, but they can get tedious if there are too many.

Well... It is certainly a shounen manga and it doesn't break the mold, but I feel that the later volumes totally blow the earlier ones out of the water. At first, it's just the "let's kill ghosts, one at a time..." but a huge plot twist occurs that forces Ichigo (and the storyline as a whole) to make an incredibly dramatic change. To make matters cooler, one can feel a tremulous new atmosphere and a dark political backstory brewing once Ichigo and Co. move on to a new location (not trying to give away anything!!! :heh: ) I, for one, almost dropped it, but I kept reading and haven't felt the slightest regret.

The one thing that REALLY pissed me off as dragonball-like was that recent relevation that EVERY_FUCKING_BODY has ANOTHER powerlevel that makes them 5-10 times stronger and which all defeated enemies till now OF COURSE forgot about. And naturally it takes years to lern, but ichigo can do it in 3 days... oh well

yes, it is cheesy.
hey, but its shonen manga, and kids like those stuff.
if you want something deep and "grown-up"
try another manga. Theres plenty more than this.
If you want to try a manga like you never seen before, try GantZ. (but its
very disturbing) YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED :heh:
in naruto at least it seems like there are level differences, like Naruto cant beat jiraiya.
but bleach, there is no level dif. cuz now it seems like ichigo could beat anyone.

Haha. Ganz is a class of its own. It has even less sense of justice and "hero survival factor" than battle royale.... I like it :D
I still like bleach, but i#m a little dissapointed because it could have been REALLY cool (cool chars, cool setting (shinigami, thats more cool than pirates, starship pilots, ninjas and mecha-pilots combined :) ), cool fighting), but they decided to follow the good old principles of shounen... Like those damn power levels. Thats to fucking bad if his sword were "analog", in the sense descriped in volume 1 "the stronger the shinigamie, the bigger the form of the sword". no, we get boost level 1 and 2, complete with power multiplication factor. At least we dont have numerical powerlevels, because if i see ONE other char that has 1000 times to powerlevel needed to punch a planet into 2 parts, im gonna firebomb some mangakas....

Well it isn't really 'dragonball' like as the latter part of dragonball or DBZ like and even then that was only in the 2nd to last saga. There are so many people here who don't even watch it and judge DB/DBZ on what they hear and 'false' things they hear.
I just read chapter 133 of bleach. I didn't mind the 'ban release' thing, a lot cooler than taking off your eye patch... but about that wasn't Kenpachi considered the strongest captain? Then how come Kukichi's brother is so feared and would he be only the strongest taking out everybody's ban kai? His fight with Ichigo was great.
Anyways Bleach is great.
Kenbachi is the strongest captain he just doesn't fully co-operate with he's sword unlike all other captains and some vice-captains do.
I like Renji's Bankai the best. Skull-Monkey outfit is good.
Some questions for anyone who wants to plug this series. I read the first volume a while ago and while it seemed to have a lot of nice things about it (particularly Ruika. A cool, non-annoying female character. It's so nice to see!), I just kept losing interest, I think cause the hollows just weren't very interesting to me and I don't recall much plot having started up yet, either. I guess I kinda just filed it away under the 'another one of those series everyone loves but I don't' category. The thing is, I know it's got to have more to it later, with how long it is, right? Right?! I just didn't want to read more since I knew I'd just get bored again and get angry at myself for reading it since I already knew I didn't like the first volume. Still, I love good shonen series, and hearing everyone excited about the anime makes me want to give it another try. I must have picked up and put down the second volume nearly ten times when I was at the book store, but kept reminding myself I was just going to get frustrated with it. :heh:
...So how long does it take for things to start moving? Any idea on what chapter around maybe? And what kind of plot do we get once it starts up? (some small spoilers are ok if nessisary to give a good picture...) Do the bad guys get more interesting? The hollows at that point were just kind of... meh. ....and while I'm at it, what kind of character development does it have usually? I didn't really have any problems with how it was... Just curious. From the first volume I kinda got the impression it was of the type that just had the characters go through some sort of delima, past their fears, make the right choice, another character gets to smile and whisper something like "he's changed off in the corner, till later episodes where while they might mention the event, they don't actually act any different. Plus some just generally trying to make the characters nice and likable. Or is it the type where they do change? Or maybe where they don't but we do see deeper into their personalities as it goes on? Or the kind where lots of the characters have some horribly tragic past that is revealed to us at some point to show why they take care of all the orphaned children, want to become the best swordsman in the land, want to bring death and destruction to all, etc.? (hate that kind with a passion, but maybe it's best to know if it's coming...)
I'm sure I can find more about the plot by looking at the posts in this thread, which I tried a little, but from doing this with other series I can affirm that this is the perfect way to run into mounds of spoilers. Plus people like to talk about series they like, right?
This is why I never post. I go on for five pages for a simple few questions. I should just throw away my password and take away the temptation. Maybe someone should answer me just for the sake of shutting me up. ;) Thanks.
There really haven't been hallows since the sixth volume. But after that the whole Dragon Ball power up stuff started. I miss the hallows. A plot is a hard concept. It's up to you what you think a good plot is. Just like in Naruto, in Bleach there is a lot of predictable character growth but hardly any story. If you are looking for more story based shounen as like One Piece, Bleach isn't for you. Bleach starts slowly but I recommend to read at least the third volume.
Edit: Oh yeah, about bad guys. From the seventh volume on the story changes dramatically and bad guys starts be other shinigamis ( / Soul Reapers ). Those guy are pretty interesting, I just love Kenbachi Zaraki.

Wow, people sure like to diss Bleach here :p
I, personally, love this series. Sure, it's a Shounen title, so it gets a little repeatative from time-to-time... but if I let that bother me, there wouldn't be much point to reading manga.
For me, Volume 6 was when Bleach really started getting good. The whole concept of Soul Society is great, even though I can pick up one or two things that KuboTite might have overlooked when he was planning Bleach out.. but he brought Shunsui { pictured in avatar }into my life and for that, I owe him my respect and loyalty xD

its 14 volumes. 15 is coming out.
yah Hes right about the volumes but the chapters should be around what...150-160?
English so far is up to 136...personally I think this is a great manga
i wish manga-rain goes faster with the releases...

probably 153 this week.

But her funny dialect is lost in the translation... >_<
LOL, I like Rukia's fake accent in the anime. But the best part about her is her eyes. God those eyes are cute.
Anyways, for those of you who have read that far...
Who do you think is behind the conspiracy in the SS? A buddy of mine and I were discussing this on Skype and she mentioned that Captain Aizen, although dead, might have a big part in this. I mean, Ichimaru seems to be the main baddy behind all of this, but what my friend mentioned seemed pretty convincing. If Ichimaru and Aizen did fight the night before Aizen died, assuming that they fought pretty hard since Aizen was left on the wall, wouldn't someone have noticed their spiritual energy like how Hitsugaya's Vice-Captain *mmmm she's hot* felt it when Hitsugaya and Ichimaru fought? Another thing is the letter that Aizen wrote, it just seems too weird that he would blame Hitsugaya. I'm assuming it's not forged as people seem to believe and Aizen somehow is plotting Hitsugaya against Ichimaru... I'm thinking too much obviously, but I really want to know who's behind this! Shoot for all we know it could be Uruhara and Yoroichi. Oh well.
What do y'all think?
And yeah, manga-rain is taking their sweet time. Someone needs to start at 140 and on so I don't have to eek out the tiny tiny Japanese that I know in order to read them. Well, at least the pics look awesome.
BTW, Ichimaru = Orochimaru... to me anyways.

What do y'all think? Hehehe, I suppose that's the secret everyone else wants to know too. My person opinion is I'm assuming he was either murdered in cold blood or surprised to the point where he couldn't possibly retaliate. As for the rest of the SS conspiracy, I think we can slowly start tabulating who's on which side. IMO, the one masked captain (2nd director of SS research-- can't remember his name) is obviously on the side of the conspiracy. Hitsugaya's vice-captain is probably siding (albeit reluctantly) with the consipiracy due to her history with Ichimaru. Captain Kuchiki is probably completely unaware about all of this, being used as a tool b/c of his strong sense of pride... Well, that's what I can come up with for the time being. It really is a mind boggler :heh:

I hope Ichigo kicks the crap out of Byakuya because he is a tool in both the literal and figurative sense. When you said masked Captain, I thought you meant that doggie captain with the basket on his head. The whole scene with Ichimaru, Aizen, and Hitsugaya is bugging me though... I wonder who was it "perfect" for. Damn you Kubotite... your awesome story is killing me!

I haven't been keeping up on this manga as much as I'd like (only to end of Ch. 14 so far) so it's interesting that things still haven't progressed that much. IMO, the guard-break thing seems a bit pathetic... It's logically disjointed and too shounen-esque...

The title Bleach:
A perfectly nice title for a decent anime/manga. For those of you confused as to why the hell would a mangaka author title his manga bleach, think about it. Hollows, purification, SS...shinigamis...repentance; what does bleach do? (think washing dirty clothes, lol)A reason why Bleach is called...bleach (http://www.livejournal.com/community/soul_society/7828.html)
I recently just got into the hyped having found Bleach by watching the newly released anime first and then going on and reading the manga up to chapter 154 (although I was only able to read text translations between 141 to 152). The manga is great, I can vouch for that. And while though it extensively attaches itself to the typical generic shounen manga you'll find (think DBZ, Naruto, Shaman King...etc), I think it does stand on its own in some aspects. For one I found the relationship between each characters very appealing. Characterization, I found, was pretty decent as well. Admittedly, it could still use some work but I think we'll see as the SS arc evolves.
My favourite arc by far is the SS arc. The reason why its probably long is because I think this place is where everything evolves, soul society, after all, is where it all started. Plus we get to see alot of ass kicking courtesy of Ichigo *can I say squee?* and we get to see more of Rukia's past and why she is...that she is. heh.
The anime is fairly decent, hilarious, especially seeing Rukia trying to drink juice in an orange box not knowing what a straw is animated. But I'm not sure what to make of it yet. People I know don't seemed to be too impressed with the anime but I think some people should give it a benefit of the doubt. But that's just me, I'm too easy to please.

I wanna join you guys conspiracy talk. I never thought of aizen being behind the whole thing! That's very credible. With aizen being gin's former captain and all. They could be incahoots. I also hope ichigo beats byakuya's ass and back. I hate that prick. I also agree that if anything, byakuya doesn't have anything to do with the ss conspiracy as i doubt he's evil just stuck up. I also gin is too obvious a choice for the main enemy. So who does that leave? Maybe the big old guy himself. But who can defeat the old guy. Ichigo has gotten strong but if he beats the old guy i'll be done. Although with the latest chapter, the gap between a vice captain and a captain is shown to be huge as ise got her ass handed to her be old guy.
After chapter 155 even my heterosexual male butt is fully blowed by Renji's sexiness.
Seriosly, now that the series is picking up more popularity there is a glim of hope that some group(s) would start to scanlate the freshest chapters as they are doing with Naruto.

Their attitudes are quite similar.
Compare the fight vs Hollow to avenge dead wife and self pride in Kaien's case and the fight vs Hollow to avenge dead mum and self pride in Ichigo's case
The manga author is trying to throw us a hint...
Ichigo is not exactly human or shinigami, he has some attributes of a Hollow...
His alter ego looks very much like the Hollow-possessed-Kaien...

Yeah! Ichigo and Rukia will make a cute couple! Orihime is so funny!
So is the Viz translations any good?
I was going through the Bleach manga again, and had a few burning thoughts I wanted to put down.
I came to the chapter where Rukia's physical body was recovered and noticed this time that it is pretty much certain it was created by none other than Urahara himself (as the first president of the Research Institute or whatnot), who may have been exiled as a result. He tries to put his hand through the doorway that Ichigo and gang took to go to Soul Society and was repelled. I guess that makes his exile one that is enforced by a physical barrier ...
And what relation does Rukia have to the woman in the portrait that Byakuya was looking at before he left for the execution? A younger sister? Could she have died, been reincarnated on Earth as Rukia, then died and returned to Soul Society?
Which brings me to the question of how Soul Society operates as a society. Within the city where shinigami live, there are obviously longstanding noble families, meaning that they age, marry, and reproduce like normal humans (do the souls come from somewhere, or are they created anew?). And they die. Normal souls die too (only Rukia and Renji were left among their group of friends, Zaraki went around slaughtering other people, Kira prays before his parents' gravestone). When people die, their souls go to Soul Society. What happens when souls in Soul Society die, as they inevitably appear to do? They can't just cease to exist, since that would tip the balance faster than anything the Quincies could do. Do they reincarnate in the human world then (because it seems like souls stick around Soul Society for ages)? Which brings up another question ... could Ichigo be a reincarnation of Kaien?
Also, I wonder how does aging work there? They obviously do age, as we see that Rukia, Renji and Yachiru (the little vice-captain of division 11) have all grown up. However, around 40 years have passed since Rukia and Renji entered the school of Shinigami. According to the little side story about Renji, Hinamori and Kira (which happened during that time period), Hitsugaya was still a little kid in the Alley. He is still a little kid, even after 40 years.
And I still wonder about Ichimaru. We see intruder alarms twice going off before Ichigo and gang are even around. The first time may have been triggered by the connecting of the corridor from the human world to soul society, but the second time is definitely odder. Anyway, I don't really know where I was going with that, but I wonder whether Ichimaru will turn out to be a red herring or not ...
What are your thoughts about all this?

40 years sine rukia and renji joined shinagami! i read all of bleach till vol 15 but i missed that. I really don't have anything to add to your post but as for the pic of the gil similar to rukia, i bet that'll be explained soon. I doubt the age thing won't. I also doubt he'll explain where shinagami souls go.

Yah, it's pretty much like that, I've checked. Vol.3 ends with Grand Fisher ran away and Ichigo visits his mom's grave. The anime didn't really show the early part of Vol.4 when Kon ran away from Ichigo's home, because in anime ep.10, it's straight to Don Kanonji and his BOHAHAHA thing. :heh:
