Finally, a Ragnarok Online TV
To be broadcast in the spring of 2004.
The TV anime will tell of the adventure of childhood friends Roan (swordsman) and Yufa (acolyte). Along the way they'll meet character like the merchant Maya, the archer Judia and the sorceress Takius.

If you ask me, they should have used the anime style of that Ragnarok Gravity OP anime. I think that OP was gorgeous.

I'm definitely looking forward to it!! I'm glad they changed the costumes a little.. The characters are also not the same "model characters" who are on the Ragnarok Online website.

Well, it looks like it's now and anime. Interesting. That was a really cool game until we had to start paying (this is iRO i'm talking about). I wonder what how it'll be. Anyone else here played the game or heard about the show?

My sister and I play this game, and we're very excited about the anime. I wonder if Gravity will distribute it in North America, or have someone do it? I think it's so neat how they show you the in-game avatars that the characters were based on when you look at the character page on the website. Looking forward to this anime!

Actually it is not based off the manga (I had thought that it would be previously). You can see from the characters the anime have is radically different in both style & content than the manga.

Could be a Japanese-fare RPG anime story.

The spot is at 25:30 on TV Tokyo, roughly around the same timeslot as LAST EXILE last year. As this is a GONZO production, it should be around 26 episodes. MOON PHASE seems to confirm that theory.

Don't worry, everyone and their mother would be subbing it :)
I mean... when the beta came out, some groups slowed to a crawl because their members were playing that instead of fansubbing :)

Oh i know its not based on the manga. But it is based on the same universe as the game and manga. Prolly mostly the game.

oh..can't wait. I haven't played Ro in a long time...I started playing back in the beta2 days...then actually tried out the P2P for iRO..but nah...iRo is way damn slow. I moved to the 'privy' servers..but that too was inconsistent. And then i found Naruto...so i'm in heaven!! But now they are makin an anime series..wow, can't wait to see how those 'sins would look like...hehehe. S> 3-Crit jur anyone? :)

Uh... that... that looks like crap.

They had to make a character for every class in the game regardless of how they'll fit into the storyline? I read the Ragnarok Manga which ragnarok online is based off of and it's pretty good. They should make an anime out of that... not... that... new one. :frustrated:
I wouldn't mind one made from the funny panels they had on the iRO website. Think Azumanga Daioh, for Ragnarok Online (and yes, I've also seen the parody Ragnarok Daioh opening).

From the preview, it gives me the impression of a cutesy RPG with the two leads becoming romantic duo. Like one of those anime that would be turned into a cartoon for Fox Central or Kids Central or something...

I'm an RO fan too.. so much so that I can't play it because I would never get anything done. :uhoh:

Anyway, yeah.. this show looks pretty innane. Unfortunately. The game's lots of fun.. but the anime seems to be sticking to one style, where one of the coolest things about the game is that if you want a different atmosphere, different look, different pace of music, you just go to a different area. Anyway, there's no story to Ragnarok Online, really.. all of the fun lies in game play. So if they're just making an anime based on the name and the designs and hoping that fans of the game will be fans of the anime, this is going to really suck. :/ But I suppose there's no use calling it crap before it's even out, now, is there? :heh:

And yeah, that music at the first half of the trailer is the music from Coal Mines.

Yeah Moonphase said that, but from what i saw from other articles, this is most likely a G.D.H international project (similar to Kaleido Star), and a joint project with Korean animation studio G&G Entertainment (which also worked on Kaleido Star). G.D.H. is Gonzo's parent company and Gonzo Digimation will probably be doing some animation like for Kaleido Star, but it's not really the GONZO that we're familiar with (the one that works on the sci-fi and action anime).

BTW apparently Myung-Jin Lee is directly involved with the anime (he was the original designer for the game I believe, and he also worked on the Ragnarok manga [or manhwa since its Korean])... He's the chief superviser (director) actually. Which is rare.

Here is some information i got for it.
The long awaited Ragnarok Anime is finally here. A 26 episode series.
The Story
The venture romance of the young venture people where runic mid- guts kingdom where accident is happening can be unfolded in the stage. ユーファwhich informed the separation to the grave of older brother キーオ (occupation/アコライト) with 馴 dyeing ロアン (occupation/the sawed man) it repeats the destiny encounter young, the conspiracy which lies hidden together in the darkness it means to confront each other. It is young, as for the 馴 dyeing 2 people it is not with somewhere and is unreliable, you do not become aware in the destiny which they approach immediately. In traveling of various ventures as for them how it probably will keep growing... and as for the thinking to ユーファwhich ロアン moves aside secretly whether it probably is Kanai う... In addition, the unique companions one after another keep appearing in the venture travelling 2. ポリン of the pet is travelled マーヤ of the merchant who "jauntily jauntily", fortune-telling liking, ability of the bow preeminent hunter ジュディア, タキウス of the puzzle abundance magic teacher who always blindfolds. In addition, in the encounter with the various venture people, also the drama which surrounds them keeps attaching coloration to the story. As expected, the destiny which waits for them how...! ?
