I was wondering if anyone has ever seen this show. It's been on for a long time and it's a children's classic. I've seen a few episodes and its really cute and funny. I was wondering if any subber has every done any work on it. (Or if they even would consider it.) For those who don't know what it is, Nintama Rantarou is about this boy named Rantarou who's studing to be a ninja like his family. It's basically his friends and his crazy hijinks, and I think there is some evil guy too, who's too hilarious. I know that the episodes are usually 15 mins long and there are a lot, so I don't know if anyone ever tried. (Not many people know of this series.)

Why did you make your font so hard to read?

Since this series isn't an existing fansub, the subject doesn't belong in the Fansub forum. I've moved it into the Fansub Group forum as it should be more appropriate (it was either here or into the General Anime forum). At least here, there may be some responce from a fansub group who are looking for a new series to sub (but by the sounds of it, finding the raws may be difficult and may require the purchase of R2 DVDs, if they are available that is).
Also included your original quote but at normal size, it may allow people to read your post easier :)

I think there will always be an audience for anything. There are plently of groups doing new series ^_^

I agree with NinjaSetsuna; there is a huge audience for classics and, really, anything Japanese these days. Since currently anime is trendy, there is a wide audience for virtually anything animated either by the Japanese or in a Japanese style. You really can't go wrong; you'll find an audience somewhere for it. It's also much more reliable to start fansubbing a classic series that has not been acquired yet, because more often than not current series are 'acquired' as quickly as they are produced and fansubbers are forced to stop their work when it is still incomplete. This is a common grievance, especially of digital fansubbers, when they begin a series and get halfway through, only to be asked to stop because the series has been acquired for domestic distribution. Understandably, it's a lot of work down the drain.
Adding to this, personally I would rather see some classic series along with the new crop, since I don't think much of most of the series coming out these days. A little nostalgia never hurt anyone. :)
Just my two cents. I registered because I thought this certainly deserved some support. Plenty of people like the classics, and there are a good many who prefer them to the modern crop of series. So you really would not be making a mistake to put out a series unseen by most of your Western audience, which could attract many. It would have status simply by the sheer virtue of being old and obscure, and it may cause a renaissance of appreciation for the title in particular! Also, as I stated before, you're less likely to have a new trendy anime distributor snatch it up when you're halfway through, rendering all your efforts useless. So give it a thought!

Finding raws are the main problem. Most groups nowadays just download stuff off Winny, but I don't see any Rantarou raws floating around there.
I think it ran for fairly long, too.
Cute show, though. I like the OP. sou saa hyaku pasentto yuuki! mou ganbaru shikanai saa!
edit: wow, 11 seasons and counting. Definitely quite long. @_@
Sorry for bringing up such an old thread but I really loved that anime when I was a kid. It would be great if a group could sub these series. I know that there are approximately 300 episodes out there but they are only 10 mins long. Besides, there's no need to sub all of them. The first should be enough as a start.
The first dvds of the series have been released in Japan so there is raw material to be found.

Please someone, make us happy by subbing Nintama Rantarou! :)
Cheers.
Since we now have an Unaired forum (which also includes unfansubbed series), I'm moving the thread.
Unaired (http://forums.animesuki.com/forumdisplay.php?f=66)
Forum for discussing anime that haven't aired yet or haven't been fansubbed yet.
ANN, Nintama Rantarou (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=3465)
AniDB, Nintama Rantarou (http://anidb.info/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=3626)
Why isn't there anyone interested in subbing these series? It's a real classic and it's funny as hell... such a shame... :(

Well, let's look at the wiki (http://fansub.andrewlb.com/pukiwiki.php?Spring%202007). There's loads of titles on there, but a notable title to mention is Kaze no Shoujo Emily, a classic adaptation. This title is recent and still no takers.
Classics have a bad track record here imo. The older stuff may be hard to find as raws. Groups may not want to do it. Downloaders are perceived as not wanting it. Blah, blah, blah.
Have you tried making your appeal in this fansub forum thread (http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=1398)?

I've been watching this anime three years ago. This is pretty much targeted for young viewers, but I watch the show. I've been watching out the ninja tricks part where we can learn some common sense about ninjutsu. Yeah, this anime is really funny.
