is there any good anime songs out there lately? along the lines of last exile, hack sign, jin-roh. It's sorta ambiguous, but if anyone can suggest some songs, please :)

Seems that most of your choices leans toward classical music instruments and styles. I would suggest music that has that underlying tone, like Spirited Away, Wolf's Rain, Violinist of Hameln, Shingetsutan Tsukihime, Avenger, Chrono Crusade, Gunslinger Girl and maybe Noir (not sure in which category to put this one).
EDIT: I just noticed you mentioned songs, not pieces so I guess I'll have to modify my post like that-actually I'm too lazy to do that so I'll leave this be. As for songs, most of the OSTs that I mentioned above have those kind of songs, so is just a matter of searching. I need more sleep......

Try the Rurouni Kenshin OVA OST, and if you are looking for a particular one, test "War Of The Last Wolves" <-- one of the best i´ve heard in that sort of style.
