Interesting, the similar themes being noted this season. Someone who is a newcomer and behaves as such, yet is pretty self-sufficient, and one who acts experienced but isn't, and the newcomer must help them by telling the "experienced" person that they really did help them after all, despite the experienced one going crazy.
I could either be talking about Haqua or Jiromaru. Despite their shows existing on mostly opposite ends of the spectrum, when pared down, their situations bear out some similarities. Both involve Kanae Itou too. Yet, the reception to Haqua seems much more positive. Strange.
A good episode, especially with Keima's complete nonchalance throughout the whole ordeal. If it isn't VN-related, it may as well not exist to him. And that's what makes him comedy gold.
An ultimately disappointing episode for me. Not enough Keima. Although I did like his innocent bystander act getting trampled on.
Literally.
Twice no less!
So Elsie get to shine this episode along with Haqua while Keima remains an innocent bystander. I got something to complain and that's the loose soul doesn't look menacing at all being a fluffy white cloud thus reducing the sense of emergency..
[mod edit: removed spoilers]
Fanservice ending shot ftw :D
^better delete that spoiler before a mod gets to it.
Keima didn't do much this time, can't be helped. That the loose soul doesn't look terrifying can't be helped either because it was the same in the manga, guess that they could have changed it though... loose souls don't all look the same so there might be better ones in the future.
Haven't watched it yet but can't wait to. Where's my overdosis of Elsie?!

At least we've got plenty of chibis this time. :)
Lots of avatar material.
They could have made the fight more fast spaced, with better aerial dodging and possessed students throwing tiles to the girls.
Missed opportunity.
Keima didn't do much this episode, but it was a "Elsie centered" story. And he isn't the brawler type anyway.
Next arc should be my favorite too with my favorite girl (beside Shiori). Let's see how they will visually handle the cockroach curse...
If it's not in the good old Saint Seiya fashion, I will be utterly disappointed. :p
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nk2vJlZ-qug
I still liked it... but it was worse than I expected. The loose soul looks terrifying enough to me, but it's just that it does nothing at all. The possessed students also don't do a lot. I don't understand why the students are sandwich zombies while Haqua can freely move around and still express herself.
Now that we're in anime territory with Haqua I also realize how useless Haqua's scythe actually is, though the raiment gains plus points instead.
The pace feels even slower than usual despite the fact that Haqua still only got 2 episodes. This is the point where I think it would have been good to include skipped parts (or that chapter for the second half...! It's so good, too...) in it to have more content and speed things up. I assume that couldn't be done due to bad arrangement possibilities of the episodes or something.
Plus points for:
-Elsie with hair down (you're not alone, guys!)
-upset Elsie who draws a fire truck on the ground
-Keima who plays dead twice, and gets stepped on twice
7/10; it's because it could have been one of the best episodes that it was a bigger disappointment since it didn't turn out to be that good. I think this is one of the episodes where I really feel the direction isn't the best.

Really love this show!!!
I did want to see more Kami-sama goodness, but in his greatness I guess he had to let Elsie be the one to resolve Haqua's issue this time.
Always lots of great moments in the show, Elsie's fire engine fetish is very cute, especially when teamed with jealousy... Is she jealous? Can someone like Elsie be jealous?
I don't know if jealousy is an automatic result but it's more that Elsie thinks that Keima is simply very mean towards her compared to other people. She doesn't dislike how he treats others, she dislikes how he treats her. A comparison ought to be there for her to actually get angrier than usual like in the Haqua arc, but jealousy? I'm not so sure. If it's really jealousy then it's still a very harmless and innocent one.

I almost shed manly tears. ALMOST. I'm so glad that this series can get a sad emotional response out of me like that. Bravo!
Elsie and Hakua took the lead this episode considering there's not much Keima could do in a situation like this. Lol at him using every bit of free time he can scrape up to play VN's. :p
As threatening as the escaped spirit looked in this episode, as Vanish mentioned it didn't really do a whole lot, but then again this isn't an action anime so I'll keep my complaints about that to a minimum.
I'm guessing they're gonna squeeze Hakua into the future episodes somehow, even though in the manga she doesn't appear again for a few arcs.
This episode felt stretched out, and the melodrama felt a little too forced, but other than that, it was a good episode. I loved Keima's innocent bystander act, he got stepped on twice! And we got some background on Haqua which is always good. I hope she makes more appearances throughout the anime :D

Hehe. Elsie was wearing a schoolgirl uniform. I chuckled.
Haqua... finally a tsundere that balances the two sides of the archtype, I guess she'll be a regular from now, I mean Elsie is cute and stuff, but Haqua just blow the meter.
And by the way, what's up with all the Keima fans? I find him rather blant and boring.
And by the way, what's up with all the Keima fans? I find him rather blant and boring.
Let's see...:
-intelligent
-good looks
-can win every girl for him if he needs to (at least so far) without creating a harem(!)
-isn't dense in an idiotic sense but rather he chooses to be the way he is
-etc.?
If you mean he is blant and boring in the sense that he is too perfect then I can tell you that he isn't perfect at all. People like him because he's cool as that, and very unlike other male characters. I mean, at least I wouldn't know a similar male mc.

They're abbundant, in fact, but you'd have to look outside of the seinen school love comedy genre. Or whatever you would classify kaminomi as.
LangeNeus covered me, except for "can win every girl for him if he needs to"
The only girls he conquers not only conveniently fit archetypes from his game (well otherwise the whole concept wouldn't be funny), but also does so with excessive and unrealistic information about them.
Anyway, it's not that his annoying or anything, just that every other character, especially his mom, Haqua, and Elsie are far more interesting to watch :heh:
Well, I got caught up in the Haqua excitement but Elsie stole this episode.

Funny thing is, what you describe is exactly what makes him a paragon amongst otaku. He uses his fatal flaws (social depravity and a sickening obsession for dating sims) and turns it into a virtue by using them to save the day. It's a niche that's both utterly ridiculous and awesome at the same time.
I fail to see the awesomeness, but ridiculousness still works for me ;)

man that was fast 2 arcs over 2 episodes or did they skip some material from Haqua's arc?
I was expecting a filler episode next but it looks we'll be singing/dancing in the rain with Chihiro :P
I expecting the next 2 arcs to be about 3 episode each... which leaves about 2-3 episodes for filler or another Haqua mini arc possibly? OR a secret arc???
This season seems really suspicious to me...
This episode didn't really meet my expectations but it wasn't bad 7/10 for me.
The pace seemed off to me. The action was too slow. Needed more showing and less explaining.
Too bad since this should have been one of the moments for the anime to shine.
Not that it was bad. I give it a 7 out of 10. But it is a missed opportunity.
At least it looks like we will get more Haqua this season.

Haqua kind of reminds me of myself. Smart at class, but not so IRL.
The pacing was really bogged down by the many unnecessary flashback scenes of Haqua's school life, which happened three times I think Going to have to re-watch it again, but that just means more Haqua time. :D
Elsie!!!! awww... she is so cute in this episode..... especially when her ribbon are taken away... XD
Elsie is stealing this episode.... and Haqua really showed her tsundere side.... ^^
anyway, "I am just an innocent bystander" scene is so funny
Pretty good episode, I enjoyed it a lot.
That being said, it was by far my least favorite of the season thus far. Something just seemed a bit off. Can't quite put my finger on it, but the pacing didn't feel right, I think.
Haqua's background was very predictable, almost seemed like it could have been left out entirely, but I'm looking forward to seeing more of her regardless. A good, solid character who's wonderfully designed, like the rest of the cast. I do hope her presence doesn't detract too much from the usual pace of the show, though.

While the ep was essentially the same as the manga, it lacked a sense of urgency. The issue being the anime, being animated obviously, did not do enough with the students and hakua. While they were talking they all just...stood there, doing literally nothing. In a manga this can be gotten away with due to still pictures but int he anime they really should have had them doing *something* other than just standing around watching them talk.
Keima doing the innocent bystander (floor mat) role and gets the appropriate treatment. :)
Playing his game is more important than escaping the boss in front of him.

That's largely because they dragged it out a lot, so there seemed to be much more standing around than in the manga. I think it would have been better to finish with the demon in the first half of the episode.
And by the way, what's up with all the Keima fans? I find him rather blant and boring.
Keima in the anime is not great as much as he is in the manga. End of the story.;)
If you want to see Kami-sama's true greatness, you have to read the manga.

10/10 just for this :D

Ok I guess it can't be helped if you don't like him that much... but then without him, the other chars surely wouldn't be as fun to watch.

Fixed and totally agreed.

Yeah, Keima is better in the manga but I don't think Malkuth's general opinion would be changed, heh.
It doesn't meet my expectation maybe because the lack of Keima action :heh:, but I Give it 7/10 just because of Haqua and Elsie with loose hair!!, and finally Elsie upset because Keima always mean to her.:uhoh:

awesome chapter. Plus the next episode picture is also awesome. Elsie and Haqua centered episode isn't bad. But I didn't understand what's for next episode.
so even the students in hell use iPad...
it does make sense that sometimes the top students in school might face some difficulties in their jobs, i think Haqua had overcame that, btw is she staying?
btw is she staying?
You saw that she was still there at the end of the episode, that's an indication. Plus she's the district chief so I guess she can freely visit other districts, also indicating that Elsie's location is most likely part of Haqua's assigned areas.
To be honest I was a bit disappointed really. So far all the episodes this season have been a little slow paced and feel padded out. This episode was particularly egregious.
ah.. nope
Haqua is from the nearby district.
Uh, she may have her own district but she's still the district chief. With "assigned areas" I meant that since Haqua is the chief, she carries a certain responsibility (or maybe I should call it rights) for specific districts, for example Elsie's. And your spoiler is a future event. :p

ah.. nope
That is a character not yet introduced and is not yet in that position so I would suggest removing it.
To put it simply, you will see more Hakua, she isn't a one-arc-wonder.
Yeah, Keima is better in the manga but I don't think Malkuth's general opinion would be changed, heh.
I don't know his personal taste, so I don't know if he would change idea, but to me Keima in the anime is generic, while in the manga he's epic. :D In the manga his attitude is someway different than in the anime, and he is much more expressive and hilarious.

I don't have any problems with the episode, maybe because I don't read manga. They did repeat Haqua's past a bit too much but otherwise I found it enjoyable and different from the rest of episodes.
Yay Elsie gets the spotlight! Not only did she capture the loose soul, but she also brought Haqua out of her funk. Surprising that Keima was praises for her and even apologized. Also her new look was adorable. Of course given her character she let Haqua take all the credit. Keima's innocent bystander act was great.

That was pretty good. I felt it dragged on a little, but it was nice that the stakes were raised. You'd expect everything to be pretty tame. And Elsie and Haqua are so darn cute.

The episode did feel a bit slow at times, but it still enjoyable and it was nice to Elsie being very useful this time around :p.
This episode was worse than last episode because they focused less on Haqua's LEGS and HEELS!
Lack of keima's epicness makes me sad. :(
I hope the next episode we have some Keima's moments.
For once in the series Elsie gets the centre-stage. Glad Haqua lived up to her name as is in the manga. The episode feels kind of slow somehow.

I agree. It doesn't feel like the manga at all. The manga is more epic and hilarious.
Well, the director isn't so great, look at his profile you can see that there are few there and not famous. Solely, this anime is only famous and appreciated so we could see the other characters animated... But somehow, the anime is failing on me.
aww.. sorry double post.

The previous versions were still sung by all the five VA's of the 2nd season. Ami, Kanae, Saori, Aki and Kana. Speaking of Kana, i heard she's sick. :( I hope she gets better since her character is in the next episode.
She's got a few days so I think it'll be fine. Regardless I wish her the best so that she'll be energetic again, because next target is also energetic.:)

The end of this episode is the exact same point chapter 26 of the manga ends.
It's looking like when the season ends it'll be around the 41 or 42 chapter point.
