Dont know about you guys but i kinda like season 1 better than 2. Season 2 is a bit of a dissapointment for me - I was expecting so much more...

Season 2 is much better for me. The best part of season one was the high school scenes but then the second half turned into a mech action show which was boring for me.

At this point I'd say they're about equal... Season 1 had some great stuff and so does Season 2. What Season 1 lacks in comedy it makes up for in drama. And Season 2's lack of story is cancelled by its intense comedy.

I definately like Season 2 a lot more. Season 2 is a lot closer to what the manga is like, and it also lacks the giant robots (so far atleast). Personally, I would love to see a lot more of this style of FMP than Gonzos version of it. Season 2 is everything I expected the first time around and more.

I just hope they would have some comedy with the Arm Slaves in season 2, like that time when Sagara was in that character suit and was stomping on that guy's croch, now I'm pretty convinced that it would be 10 times as funny if he was in a M9 and he did that.

I would have to say that the two seasons are quite different in their underlying storylines/drama. But I think the two seasons complement each other very well! All of Full Metal Panic is currently my favorite anime of all time.

I don't think you can really compare the two of them. Season one was obviously based on action and mechs, while season two is completely based on humor. I like them both equally I guess ^^

Well, if you guys would read the manga you would notice that season 2 is just fillers from season one. The things that happened in season 2 also happen in the beggining of the manga and then later on in the manga we get the real plot which is season 1. So basically season 2 is just things that the season 1 skipped out from the manga.

So i would vote that they are equal.

season 1 is good packed with lots of great action and such but i like season 2 better because its based on random funny humor and its great to see the story progress throughout season 2

Equal.
1st season was filled with action.
2nd was filled with comedy.

I like both action and comedy alot. So I can't say that one season is better than another :)

Season 1 much better,...

more action, more romance, & more of Tessa.

but Season 2 is good in its own right as a comedy, which wasnt as much a focus in the first.

I vote season 1.

Season 1 had a story, it had action, it had serious moments, it had comedic moments. Season 2 has no real story, has no serious action, has no serious moments, and has nothing but comedy. It doesn't mean Season 2 is a bad series, it just means that I enjoyed Season 1 much more.

It's hard to judge, cuz FMP1 & Fumoffu seem to more/less belong in different genres.

If you're talking about mecha, and action, FMP1 would definately be better. (despite the disappointing ending)

However, in terms of comedy Fumoffu beats FMP1 hands down.

They're probably not in the same category but I like Fumoffu better.

I like season 2 better actually cos it's so funny. In fact, I only watch S1 after S2 started. I kinda prefer comedies to action.

Hmm actualyl I watched from the first series.....
The only good serious fight was his first fight with Gaulun, especially that Lambda drive.
The fight with Behemoth, and the one with his old friend were both confusing and didn't really make sense, it was like, "where did they come from?" I was expecting something more dramatic.
The final fight with Gauln was dramatic but the ending really disappointed me - suicide? Oh pllllease.....
The HS comedy episodes were pretty funny overall.

Fumoffu placed all the focus on the jokes, and did a really good job. Plenty of parodies, exaggerations. (The NewType flash and Seed mode, that gave me a laugh)
Besides, they got President Hayashimizu, who's one of the greatest characters ever.

But I would still recommend people watch S1 then S2. Gotta know how it all started.
Ad I bet there's S3. The novel is still going strong.

I think they are equal just because I love comedy and I love plot. One is plot the other comedy.

Season 1 focused mainly on action with romance/comedy moments spread across episodes during the season as sort of an interlude or intermission for the viewers. Think in a way this was the better season because it did a fair job of trying to please a diverse audience interested in different things (action, comedy, romance, etc.). Season 2 though mainly deals with comedy, and not much in the way of serious action or romance has been seen in the episodes so far. If the viewer is interested mainly in watching comedy and can accept a series of standalone episodes with no story arc to link them together, then they would probably enjoy FMP 2. But for anyone that wanted FMP 2 to be like FMP 1, they may come away somewhat disappointed.

Disappointed? Not quite...I loved the action and romance in FMP and I also loved FMPF too! In fact, I loved action, romance, and comedy!!! But I prefer FMP due to its mecha! The main highlight in FMPF is....BONTA-KUN! Wahahaz!

Someone mentioned a while ago a problem they had with season 1 that I thought really highlighted why I didn't like it: There was absolutely no motivation behind Gaulin's character. He was just a simple, 2 dimentional villan. There was no real reason or explanation about what and why regarding Mithril, and in the end they tried to play this completely lighthearted sci-fi story way way too heavy.

The drama in FMP! just struck me as misplaced and pointless.

Whereas in FMP? Fumoffu they play off these exact short comings to comedic advantage beautifully. Plus the small mixings of drama are just right.

I have to say Fumoffu is better, but don't get me wrong, I watched FMP! and didn't hate it. I just think they did Fumoffu much much better.

I believe that you cant compare the two seasons although they are of the same anime. The reason behind this is, one season has to do with story, plot, and of course mecha combat. It also had to do with the mission of protecting Chidori and making sure that Gaul didnt get his hands on some things he shouldnt. Basically it was your usual struggle between protagonist and antagonsit.

Season 2, is something completely different. It has nothing to do with the world around Mithril anymore but rather is a romance/comedy going on between Sagara, Chidori, and Tessa. There is no relevance to the actual plot, but rather just development of a relationship. It's almost like two seperate anime's.

Though, if I were to vote, I'd say they are equal because both deliver what they promised. Season 1 delivered the "goods" with the story, plot, and development of the world around FMP, while Season 2 gave us the "softy" stuff which was the expansion of Sagara's and Chidori's relationship outside of Mithirl.

Those are my 2.67cents (gotta keep up with the exchange rate these days -_- )

I would go for equal too (although I voted season 1). I thought the first few highschool episodes of season 1 sucked but it was the mech action later in the series that got me hooked. The lamda driver mechs are probably the coolest I've ever seen. The highschool scenes in season2 are definately better than the ones in season 1
