Anyone reading the manga? Anyone know exactly how close to the last island that Luffy and crew are? I'm seriously curious to see how far away they are from completing and finding One Piece, because I'm major seriously curious of exactly what One Piece is. :)
Also, how far ahead of the anime is the manga at currently? They still in the sky pie arc or have they moved on?
Not sure about how far Luffy is from One Piece but I know the anime is still in skypie. Last time I check the manga and anime, eps 183 I think, it cover chapter 280-282.
As far as I know, the last episode aired in Japan was episode 188, "Release from a spell! Tears which the large fighter shed!!". It looks like 188 is the second episode of the Norland Monbran/Karugara flashbacks, which's around chapters 289-290 of the manga.
The last chapter released in Japan was 317 (released today, not translated yet), so the anime is about 29-30 chapters behind the manga. So, the anime is still in the Skypiea arc, near its end (which's in chapter 302). It'll end in episode 194 or so.
According to Oda in an interview, he said One Piece has reached its "middle part". Luffy and co. are still very far away from the One Piece, although there are precious hints that may be related to it.

Only at the middle???? Woh.
If the middle turns out to be 350, then this will be a 700 chapter manga and a 400 some odd episode series. Wow. hehe. Can't wait. :)
Ditto...I wouldn't mind watching 400+ eps of One Piece. Like I'm watching Det. Conan even tho it's raws. :) Well, as long as One Piece stay clear of like sailing to space or something like that.

Unfortunately, it is highly unlikely the anime will run until the end of the manga. At the current rate, it is not long before the anime catches up with the manga. Either we're going to see a whole lot of filler before returning to the manga, or the anime will branch off into it's own story.
That's what I foresee anyway. Or it might stop, and delay a year or two, and we're going to see One Peice Z.
I'm kidding, I'm kidding about the Z part :)

*clutches heart* Geez, don't scare me like that. ;)
*has horrible flashbacks of dbz.*

I think that after the Skypiea arc is shown in TV, they perhaps just insert another filler arc like what they did before they entered grand line, and after drum, and after alabasta that way the anime won't catch up with the manga(God Forbid It).
I wouldn't mind a filler arc as long as it's good. Sometimes an anime should vary from the manga, but as long as it doesn't vary too much then it should be good. The only reason I'll like fillers is because you won't know what will happen even if you read the manga.
just started the manga and the series so i could tell the differences if any .... just wondering what others who are further along in the series think . ?? :hmm:
I too, think that the anime is bound to catch up to the manga if there aren't any filler arcs/stories.
However, does anyone think that Oda might have anticipated this scenario as there is always an image/page (at the beginning of every chapter & together with the chapter's title) that does not exactly relate to the ongoing saga of the strawhat pirates ? This looks to me as if Oda wants to give some filler hints to the studios (for the studios to work out the theme/plot of the filler arcs as they see fit).
Im pretty sure there will be an anime filler arc between Skypiea and the Foxy Pirates arc where they are now. This is, of course, my own opinion and not to be taken as fact.

As long as it doesn't suck like the Apis arc, and doesn't introduce plotholes, like the apis arc. Then i'm not too bothered about filler episodes.

I did not analyze the Apis arc into great detail, but could you tell me what the plot holes were in the Apis arc? I could not see any immediately.

i didn't analyze the arc as much either, probably because that arc interested me the least. as for plotholes, i dunno, others may tell you more but stuff like zoro already being able to slice steel chains is out of order. he shouldn't be able to do that til later.

I think a short, oh say 10-20 episode side story would be cool. Nothing that digs into any canon or history, but is something that just sends them off onto some wild goose chase, or maybe has them on vacation on this one island and getting into all kinda troubles. :)
I think a vacation arc would be cool, then luffy and the others could have some fun, get in trouble, and raise heck. And not screw up the anime or create plot holes. hehe.
PS: I liked the Apis arc btw. :D

....in the popularity area....it basically op 100%.... op is the bestselling manga ever in jap...over 80 millions sold....it was a rage in other part of asia too....like hongkong..from what i seen ...naruto is only more popular on the net...in us...proboly due to that kz is way way behind the current episode in jap-over160 release and only 89 sub...
i like one piece way better than naruto....naryto was real good in the begining....but right now.....i could basically predict waht will happen in the next episode=(90% talking and flashback.5 percent waiting to respond...5% fighting..).....naruto is begining to be another dbz nightmare....maybe we should call it naruto Z from now on.....

I agree. I'm getting to a point where I may just drop the anime and stick with the manga for a while longer. At least that's still halfway decent. But yeah, the anime is getting to be way too dbz'ish.
the anime is good, the manga is good as well. I don't think one piece is "too dbz'ish." You can save that comment for Naruto (manga) espeically with all that stupid ass explaination of their moves ... and now a drunken master
Actually that's rude, calling the Naruto manga dbzish.
could someone tell me what chapter & volume episode 91 covered?
could someone tell me what chapter & volume episode 91 covered?
Volume 17 Chapter 154 & 155 with some little differences and filler.
could someone tell me what chapter & volume episode 91 covered?
Episode 91 contained all of chapter 154 and half of chapter 155.
They didn't show the part where Crocodile appears and kill some pirates at Arabasta (they showed an alternative version of this part in "flashback mode").
