You still have interesting possibilities. There are five members so there is room for quite a bit of interaction. And the obligatory character-focused episodes, which I think aren't all that interesting. And the obligatory kenka (fighting / arguing) and/or kaisan (breakup) episode(s) - I always like these type of episodes.
I never watched Yes! Pretty Cure 5, so it will be interesting for me how this all plays out. I think those hoping for a Cure Moonlight subplot-type thing will be disappointed. It would be nice if that was the direction they went, but it doesn't look like it from here.
I liked the way Red Demon avoided attacking the (then) non-combatant Yayoi. Not quite so heartless, after all. Perhaps an early telegraphing of an eventual heel-face-turn.
The formulaic elements stick out here more than they did in Heartcatch and Suite, but still, we're three for three good episodes, so I'm happy with what we've seen so far. Compared to Suite, even this early in the series, I did like Hummy quite a bit more than what we've seen of Candy so far, and the setting needs more depth, but basically everything else is better here, especially the villains and character design.
Anyone who watched straight through Asahi this morning got a lot of Marina Inoue. Tagiru and Nao were at the forefront today/tonight.
And so, March comes in like a lion and out like a territorial, more ferocious lion. This episode, like last week's, did some decent worldbuilding for the school. Two girls, who believed the gazebo was theirs, and the student council president both appeared. They didn't do much, but as long as we're certain that the Cures aren't the only people of importance in the school.
Nao's situation is a lot like Yayoi (Takatsuki, not Kise)'s. She's got a pretty large family there, all of whom were pretty rough on Candy. It's hard to tell if Candy or Miyuki is taking more punishment here. Also, a note on how the censors work for Precure. You can show a demon's underpants without problem, but the moment one of the heroines shows her undergarments, the show's shipped off to late night without question.
I like that Yayoi's rock-paper-scissors is both variable and being made fun of. Akaoni lost against Yayoi. Poor predictable rock. He did make up for it by choosing a Goalbat for this week's Akanbe. Had he gone with a small strip of metal, it would've been a Crowbat. And if this was another superhero show, it would've been a Zubat (sanjou! Zubat kaiketsu!) Nao's specialty as Cure March looks to be incredible speed... something which she's not good at yet.
I like that the heroines can recognize each other even when transformed, and that they're still trying to figure out how their powers work. It makes for great comedy and shows that they're still with flaws. Nao's sequence and March Shoot are pretty nice. Seeing so much interaction between Nao and Miyuki brings back memories of when they used to be much more antagonistic with each other - Miyuki's not gonna start talking about perverted stuff anytime soon, but I wouldn't be opposed if she did.
Next week: Cure Beauty appears, completing the team at last. And the last of the generals shows their skills. You can't have a fairy tale story without an evil witch.

As usual, this episode had been awesome. Apart from the younger cures we've seen so far, we get this mature-sense of justice girl, Midorikawa Nao. She was cool when she told the 2 girls to back-off from Yayoi, Miyuki and Hino. Oh and especially when she ran in front of her siblings using her powerful words of justice. I love her voice, its so strong with determination, which is an aspect that makes her so cool :). I loved her transformation too and how she didn't freak out when she saw a monster and just ran. As expected, she gathered courage and fought the akanbe but it was cute when she ran too fast as she passed the akanbe.. also, not to forget the part where she got smashed accidentally onto a pillar and came out unstratched.. she is so awesome. Next episode, Cure beauty! :) Wonder how she will make her debut :D

What can I say about this one. It's fun in it's own way. But by far I don't like it as much as I did for Suite. Last 3 or 4 eps missed alot. Just my opinion.

Well, not a bad episode.
Cure March's specialty is super speed obviously (so the trick in OP makes a little sense). Aka Oni looks like the "comic relief" villain, unlike Wolfrun and the witch that is going to be introduced in the next episode.
Kind of odd that Sunny and Peace just stood there doing nothing though...

after how much episodes with the witch do you think the final and most strong villain general which is the joker will appear?
I know the extradiegetic reason is to make her distinct, but it's a bit odd that Nao's the only one in her family with green hair. You'd think the rest of the Midorikawa kids would have different shades of green or somesuch, but nope, just her. Screw genetics, she has green hair.

I wonder if Red Demon really meant "breaking up Nao's family", that's among the most despicable threats I've seen a villain make. :uhoh:
A wind based precure who runs fast, it's a nice combination. And true to mentioning the word "courage" in her intro speech, Cure March didn't show any fear at all. She's my favourite cure out of all of them. seriously. :)

Okay, Nao is awesome. Cure March is great. With Cure Sunny and Cure Peace just standing around she made the rest of them look useless, lol. But I guess that's an introduction episode.
Smile easily continues its full streak of good episodes. This new season really is great. I'm on pins and needles anticipating Cure Beauty finally making her appearance.
Smile Precure's characters are so awesome it is starting to get hard to pick a favourite cure from it and I predict the purple and amber/gold jewel stands for the last 2 Precures because Precure usually have "sixth rangers".

Agreed, very likeable characters this time.
Miyuki: genki, airheaded
Akane: osaka-ben, manzai (or just a joker), okonomiyaki-san, tomboy (maybe)
Yayoi: draws, cute
Nao: curageous, cool big sis, athlete/tomboy, direct
Reika: ??? - she is definitely very beautiful but we don't know much about her personality

As much as I like Nao, I think being direct has a disadvantage too.. could lead to conflict with others - espescially with sensitive people.

I decided to take a whack at guessing the meaning of each of their names, apologies in advance if someone has already figured it out and I was slow to the punch.
Cure Happy's name is for the Happy Ending/future.
Cure Sunny because the sun gives everything life or because a sunny day is happier than a cloudy or rainy one, or because the sun lights the way to the future.
Cure Peace because, well, peace is better than war (something along the lines of that).
Cure March is for order since when there's a march everyone is in rhythm and organized as opposed to going wild and possibly making decisions that would cause hate between people (anarchy?).
And Cure Beauty is for the goodness in people that would benefit everyone as opposed to the ugliness in them. Basically, everyone being kind to each other as opposed to mean would lead to a happy future.

I seriously have no idea on how people get to watch the latest episodes. The website I go to to watch Japanese raws, episode 5 still hasn't come out apparently. However, I managed to find this :D
Cure Beauty Transformation
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmCjgpmyOkQ
The transformation was slower than I expected O_O. its okay, but March's transformation was way better :D
Mirror, mirror on the wall, why is there a teamup movie seven episodes into the series? The Smile team has barely been established and they're already meeting other heroes. I mean come on. Gokaiger waited longer than that.
While Cure Aqua was definitely water, Reika seems to have a more "ice" angle to her powers. Gives some variety to the overall Precure lineup. I like her sequence. The elegance of it, and the whole thing with blowing the snowflakes off the powder puff, was a nice touch. The sequences this year are pretty dynamic.
For a change of pace, it wasn't Miyuki who spoiled everyone's identities this time, it was Yayoi. That she considers herself a superhero is awesome, but not when it means she can't keep her own identity. Her student council puppet show of Snow White was pretty cute - most other shows would've done it as a live stage performance.
Now for Majorina. She is definitely not a hot, Majolica Le Fay type witch. We're talking old crone, plain and simple. Maybe she'll get hotter later in the series, I don't know. Her despair space looks to be a traditional haunted house type setup. Spider webs everyone, green color filter, that sort of thing. Now we've got our villains set up, mostly.
Beyond here lie the episodes that will define the dynamic of much of the series. I look forward to seeing what it brings. This group of heroes has a lot of potential, and not just in what pixiv is willing to pervert them into.

Well, here is the elegant and of course, beautiful Aoki Reika :). Her voice, actions and everything about her is gentle and elegant. Every single thing she does is very elegant basically. Her transformation is pretty :D. The play for Snow White was cute and I loved how everyone worked hard on it, drawing the pictures, creating the puppets etc. The witch was a clever villan, more clever than the previous ones we've seen. Overall, I loved this episode and Cure Beauty's debut, completing the Precure team :D. Next up, we have the Smile Precure teaming up together and fighting. I'd love to see their group attack and introduction :hyper-^v^:

Hnnngh, Reika. Great episode, imo. I laughed quite hard at the team pointlessly wasting their finishers one by one against the fake mirror Akanbes. But also, great entrance by Cure Beauty.
The Cures really do seem to be taking things pretty easy in this iteration of the franchise what with Yayoi's constant references to superheroes and Akane going out of her way to tsukkomi. The lighthearted atmosphere, however, really makes this show a pleasure to watch. I've enjoyed these episodes so consistently that Smile Precure has easily become one of the highlights of my week.
Pretty curious about how we'll now continue with all five of the Precure gathered. I'm looking forward to the "ninja" fairy as well.

I have also forgotten to mention that I LMAO when Happy and the other 3 precures were doing their special attacks and the witch was looking them thinking "What the heck?" But I thought it looked like they were constipating :heh:
I also expected Cure beauty to have the sword involved with her special attack (as seen in the opening) but I guess not. Maybe we'll get to see all the precure's special weapons one day with other attacks :D

This show is good.
They're is just one thing that kinda bothers me : How come they're friends so fast ? This anime got all : strong design, superb art, nice animation, great humor... Only the personality and the interaction feel weak to me.
To compare with Sailor Moon, sure Precure got more action, and good action. It's nice to see them kick and punch, cause the Sailor senshis didn't fight that much besides super attacks and stuff...
Still it feels like each Cure is an archetype, and just won't step out of the role.
While in Sailor Moon, the characters where more... Balanced. Sure, you got the smart one, the tomboy, the wannabe-idol... But they had a various range of expressions.
And Usagi and Rei weren't friend that much at first (it took time for Rei to stop picking on Usagi).

Smile precure surprised me (in a good way). Miyuki, Akane, Yayoi and Nao think that a certain pose is needed to do the special attack? Ok, it would seem logical that if certain action / pose worked then just keep doing it. :D
Also liking the fact that special moves can't be spammed because doing it only once gets them really tired.
This week's akanbe monster can't be taken down by simple brute force - you need to think too, something that intelligent precure are good at doing. Next week's opponent is probably something that can be taken down only if all 5 of them work together as a team. :)
Now for a bit of cross-franchise Reika goodness.

Cure Sunny should really work on her gathering power stance. She look so awkward while doing it! Finally the members introduction part is finished. Hopefully the real action will start now.
Yeah. I'm looking forward to seeing where they go with the show. The introductions were nice and all, but the characters have yet to go beyond the archetypes, and the "five episode ones" has gotten a little old.

SM was mainly The Usagi Show. While at the beginning it didn't impact the story that much, later it became really an issue.

In fact Suite failed to capitalize on this. Not expecting anything particularly complicated, but the initial "reason" for the animosity was baffling to say the least...

Smile Precure will fall into this trap. Someone's favorite character is going to be ignored every episode. My favorite character is Nao and I'm disappointed how little attention she got in episode 5.
In other news, the creators make it really easy to believe they all are in love with each other. Aesir Fansubs posted this picture with Episode 4:

They might go the Precure 5 route of little plot progress and instead have some character development up to episode 17+ - there might be 2 or 3 Nao centered episodes if they decide to do it that way. Still, I'm hoping they would try to do something different with Smile.
One reason I like Nao is because I've watched Boku wa Tomodachi.
She reminds me of Yozora. There's something similar in their beliefs, and voiced by same person as well..

It took six episodes for the team to get fully gelled as a team, but look at it from this perspective: That's half the time it took for the Kamen Rider Club to be established. Now that the team is together, that can only mean one thing:
http://i.imgur.com/Rsbtml.jpg (http://imgur.com/Rsbtm)
Okay, not really. But I wish.
The start of the episode with Candy failing to provide any exposition whatever was pretty funny. Pop (voiced by Sunohara!) provided all the necessary exposition, just in time for the movie being advertised during the credits. He comes bearing merchandise. The villains got a new ally too, Joker. So I ask of Wolfrun and friends: Why so serious?
This is the first Precure show I've seen that's willing to exaggerate itself for comedy reasons in marvelous ways. Miyuki deciding that, now that they're a team, they have to have a roll call pose was great. Yayoi was starry eyed (that's one point for the MiyuYayo shippers) and the Nissan Combo just looked at them in complete disbelief. And then you have Miyuki ending up in Antarctica... this show has some great comedic timing.
After fighting a can of Drink (from the makers of Food), with some help from Pop (admittedly, turning into a can crusher was pretty cool), we get our first team roll call and group pose. They're naturals at this. And Miyuki gets her first Happy Shower that actually works since the first one. The show's certainly taking its time, but it feels like the pace is picking up now.
Next week: The team looks for a secret base, preferably inside the Marchenland World Tree. Bookportal related mishaps will ensue.

This episode has been awesome. Now that they're a team, Candy's brother, Pop (who was so DAMN adorable) has explained a story about the Precures and what happened in Marchenland by showing them a book :), which made it very interesting. Pop also taught them how to teleport to places from the place where Miyuki slided books in the first episode. I think that place was a part of Marchenland? Correct me if I'm wrong, since I only understand some Japanese when I've watched the raw. It was cool to see how the enemies were deciding who can go to the human world by having a card game match and Joker appeared. He was definitely annoying, but its nice to see something different. I mean, compared to Suite, the enemies all hated each other and they were weak :uhoh:. It was so funny how Miyuki ended up in the wrong place when everyone teleported :heh:. Also, when everyone did the precure pose after they all transformed, Miyuki was really happy saying "yay! we did it :hyper-^v^:" and then they got attacked. LOL, I really love this team, they're funny and they work together well. The aspects of this show was different, with more unexpected things to happen. Just like that unexpected attack for example. They are putting the comedy in the right timing :D. I wish I could say more about this episode, but I'd rather not spoil the whole thing ;). So overall, I trust that this series will become awesome and creative and I'm looking forward to how they strengthen their friendship together. :D. Next episode, they're taking the next step towards an awesom team in finding a secret base xD.

I'm not sure if I like this "playing with/against our own tropes" thing Toei has going on in the latest years. Granted, Precure has always been kinda like that, but not as much, and if we add Fourze and Go-Busters which do everything to work around tropes of their franchises, it might be evident that the genre is running out of gas.
I'll be really disappointed if they won't keep using the bookshelves portal system, it's a rather clever setup that can't just poof like that after one episode.
Every genre goes through its reflexive period, and that cycles back to a few "back to the basics" series, and then those start making fun of themselves once again... these things always work in cycles. Just that this cycle happens to be very meta.

Ah, interesting thoughts you have there :).
Now that you mention it, it is actually suspicious that he mentioned that there was 5 precures. How did he know? Maybe he was originally form Marchenland but.. possessed by Pierrot or.. something. I think maybe everyone insisted that there were 5 because they wouldn't want to fight more of them. It was funny how the Majorina thought there were 100 precures and I also think Wolfrun and Majorina were being cocky to cover up their fear.
When I watched the episode for the second time, I looked closely at joker to see that he had some purple on his hat and assumed the same thought you had, surprisingly :twitch:. Before starting the character centered episodes, I guess a basic explanation of the situation and precure mission is in order - and this episode is just that. As well as explanation of what looks like a handy means of transportation, a magical library.
Getting used to the transformation BGM. And I like how each transformation sequence is shortened now that all 5 of them are present (it's something not done until later in Precure 5). Well, onto the action.. they're getting shot at by an Akanbe, but Miyuki distracts the witch by a snowball taken straight from the South Pole. :D Cans are weak to pressing machines, so they press their way to victory. It's too bad Candy's ninja brother didn't stay, he looks dependable.
And lastly, the joker's slightly disturbing showing of tongue gives me the feeling that he's more devious (and dangerous) than the other 3. :uhoh:

I don't think it'll be that messed up if it turns out that Joker is the 6th cure disguised as a man, that'll be more interesting if Joker was spying on the villians too.

This pixiv tag is a terrible pun, but it's an interesting one. 黄瀬やおい (Kise Yaoi). It takes Yayoi's interest in drawing manga and extrapolates it to the point where she essentially turns into Lucky Star's Hiyori. There's just as many pictures of her drawing BL under this tag as there are her drawing her own friends in sexy situations. Fandom can be a weird bunch, but I love 'em. They're as much a part of the show experience as the experience of the actual show.

But why all of them are wearing spats under their frilly dress?? :(
It's either spats or reeeealy poofy frills underneath the dress. panty shots are a nono for a show whose "supposed" demographic is little girls. Supposedly....

I remember clearly saying they were 1/3rd done with Smile when that happened.
Nope, Suite Precure's director said that about Suite (http://precure.livejournal.com/1808298.html).
However, that doesn't rule out the earthquake affecting Smile or the franchise's direction going forward.
On Asahi's Smile Precure website they had a preview for March 18th's episode and it was different and I saw an orange haired girl on there too.
More they insist there is 5 precures more I feel like they are trolling with the amount of cures.
Yeah, that compact has 7 jewels in it.
Episode 6 was fun. Toei are heavy on the references this season, and not only to previous Pretty Cure / magical girl shows. I liked the bit where Pop briefly turned into (GeGeGe no) Kitaro.
At the moment my favourites are Akane and Yayoi, partly because they have the first manzai act I actually find funny and partly because they go slightly outside their character stereotypes.
Bookportals are a great addition to the franchise. In addition to letting the heroines spend more time in the magical land, instead of saving it for the endgame, they come to like it so much so they're going to hang out there. But the gags that came in between were great. In order:
Reika decided on Mount Fuji. It shows great pride in their country, but is also cold and inconvenient.
Yayoi plunked them right into the Energy Management Center/Kamen Rider Club. I can see why everyone loves Yayoi. Moe~ but also one of the biggest geeks in the franchise. Yayoi is everyone's little sister.
Nao's suggestion, contrary to her nature, was a stuffed toy shop. Yes, Precure deals in plastic, but that doesn't mean it should be so blatant about it. It also runs the risk of Candy getting purchased.
Akane's was a gorilla habitat at a local zoo. A world where monkeys evolved from magical girls? Madness! Madness, I tell you!
Miyuki's wasn't used for gags. It was her old secret hideout from when she was a kid, but other kids have called it their own now. Cute. But her boyfriend Wolfrun attacked, with a clown tree. Not a bad idea. This sequence... gives me my few complaints about the episode.
It's clear Toei was stalling for time by playing all five sequences out in full, something I should brace for in the future. Also, Miyuki doesn't need to kill every MotW. Yes, she's the heroine, but let Akane or Yayoi or someone get a victory every now and then. Stop killstealing!
In the end, the gang decided on the Mysterious Library de Dantalian as their home base, but with a little sprucing up via magic. It can be accessed from nearly anywhere, for one. Sure, if they try to go beyond it more trees will attack them, but better the trees you know than the ones that are clowns. And it can make a nice playset for Bandai to sell.
It's fairly obvious the word that will let kids win the ongoing contest is スマイル, but I've clearly been playing too many eroge. Last week, my mind went to オマ○...
Good night, everybody!
Lolicon Wolfrun. :heh:
Love Reika's secret hideout (Mount Fuji, WTF). :D

Well it was clear that the Akanbe this week was present just for contractual obligation, as the episode was entirely focused on something else. I think it was a decent one, but I've seen better.
Starting from next week there will be the real test, as the introductions are over and it'll be interesting to see what route Smile will go.

Watched it today. Reika likes the cold because her cure form has ice powers? I was surprised most by the Mt. Fuji "secret base". The rest (Akane, Yayoi, Nao) are random places which lead to embarassing situations for them. Well, Miyuki show that she's a kind person by choosing to let the two younger girls have her "secret base". :)
My only complaint about this episode is the unshortened transform sequences for the 5 of them. It's too long. I hope they don't do this long sequence every episode. The shortened version used in episode 6 is much better in my opinion.

Nao: "How many times have I told you! DON'T TOUCH ME THERE!"
Narrator: "Thus began Akane's change from nice to complete jerk."
From that scene alone, pixiv has determined that Nao doesn't wear a bra, and given more fuel to the Nissan Combo (Nao x Akane). Precure fanon is far stretching and highly delusional. Which is why I enjoy watching it slowly build.

Seems to be a cool group attack in episode 12 :). The episode titles keep getting interesting :D
If Toei didn't have stretch the show's budget over 50ish episodes, I wish they would've redone the OP to reflect the Miyuki/Candy switcheroo. The one-time-only Cure Candy transformation/attack sequences make up for it, though. Not very often you get to see the mascot fight like that. The failed Candy-as-Miyuki Smile Charge was a nice touch too.
For the show's first non-exposition episode, it was pretty good. Candy doesn't know a thing about how the human world works, and the comedy they got out of that was well timed. Majorina's explanation of the body switching rings and how they got to Earth in the first place provided some nice interplay between the villains. Akane showing that just because you're trapped, it doesn't mean you're useless was another point in this season's favor.
One of Smile's strongest points its its comedy, and for that it's a fun way to finish off the week.
Next week: Major Yayoi focus. The sound of a thousand computers coming to life echoed across Japan.

Another awesome hyper episode today :). It was very strange and funny at the same time with Candy and Miyuki switching bodies. When Miyuki transformed into Cure Candy, it was definitely an interesting epic battle to watch. I guess she's a badass when she transforms into Cure Candy. :heh: The best part about Smile precure is definitely the comedy. xD

Well, for sure it was handled better than the equivalent in Fresh. Also the fight was decent (especially the Cure Candy part).
Aaand now Smile Precure is my second favorite precure series after Heartcatch (I've watched all of precure series). No real hand-to-hand fighting so far (cure candy fighting with her hair doesn't count :p), but the characters were fun and interesting.

This show is seriously the most amazing series running this season. How can a children's show be this amazing. I'm speechless, lol.
Suite and Heartcatch had to struggle to make me care about the plot sometimes but Smile so far has been impressively tight and solid. Probably the early individual introductions to the characters has contributes to this, but I think this format will offer advantages over the incremental structure of both Suite and Heartcatch, where the plot always seemed to be hijacked by excessive focus on the new Precure whenever an addition to the main cast popped up. With Smile's present cast, although I do have favourites, I'm already rather fond of pretty much all of them (even the villains are charming) so as long as this series keeps up its balanced exposure I will probably be satisfied.
In any case, episode 8 was brilliant. Probably the best episode so far. I am also highly looking forward to next week's "Yayoi lying" episode, as she's showing a fair bit more personality and interesting character than the generic moe shyness which initially caught our attention (lol, both mine, at least, and Japan's).
This probably deserves a spoiler tag, but it's already been mentioned without one, so:
That episode was awesome. The comedy hit all the right notes, and watching Cure Candy was just gold. That transformation sequence was just  The more I watch it, the more and more this show looks like a parody show, but that's not a bad thing, especially when it's as funny as this.

It's been a few days since the episode aired, so I guess it's ok not to spoiler tag this anymore.
What can I say? I didn't expect to have many random moments of laughter on a precure episode - mostly at the classroom scenes. It's fortunate that the switch was only for a day or Miyuki's reputation would have been totally ruined. :heh:
But wait, there's a little drama too..
Nice character development for Miyuki and Candy on this one.

I liked this episode, for quite a lot of reasons. Has Precure ever done an April Fool's episode before? It's a nice way to take advantage of the calendar, and also explains where Yayoi "transferring" came from. A single prank that spun out of control until everyone believed she really was moving to another school. She and Miyuki can visit the Detective Pavilion Beauty Contest another time. (By the way, this is a great episode for MiyuYayo fans. The others can lie to Yayoi without much trouble, but Miyuki almost trips over herself doing it.) I loved Yayoi's inner monologue during the episode.
From the very start, we get confirmation that Yayoi is the Gai Ikari of Precure. She has a Kamen Rider alarm clock of some sort. I wonder if she watches it for the men, the plastic armor, or the men when they're in the plastic armor? Likely all three. We're also intro'd to Chiharu, Yayoi's mother. Why is this important? Because there's a certain section of the fanbase that watches for the girls' mothers and gives them... er... ample (that is by far the best adjective to go with) fanart.
I was wondering why the Akanbe didn't simply steamroll the group during their heartwarming moment, and the show answered that for me. Akaoni and his MotW were falling asleep during said heartwarming moment. When you're a comedy, anything is possible. And Miyuki didn't killsteal this time - this was Yayoi's episode, and she got the honor of electrocuting the MotW to a crisp.
So, a good episode, for many reasons. Next week looks to be our first post-gathering Akane focuser. The show's on a real winning streak.
Yayoi has a boyfriend!? :twitch: Oh April fool, she's just joking. Really nice to see Yayoi have some fun time with her mom.

Heh. Seems /a/ has been complaining about Smile's lack of hand-to-hand fighting so far but I thought AkaOni's "lying" gimmick this week was pretty clever.
Yayoi's prankster/naughty side was cute. And the way everybody overreacted was quite funny. I thought the moral of the story was well-placed, as well--if this April Fool's episode airing at 8:30 am in the morning over in Japan today must have spurred a whole lot of kids to go out and play a prank or two, at least the episode made them keep in mind the consequences and reminded them not to do anything which would be hurtful to others. Heh, to think of it, I suppose Toei only has the opportunity to do this sort of episode every 5 or 6 years or so.
Speaking of Yayoi ships, I stated early on that I'd be going the Reika x Nao route (and, to that pairing's credit, they do seem to be childhood friends after all), but my highly selective goggles have now somehow convinced me to go full-delusion mode and straight-up ship Yayoi x Reika. lol, there's no helping it if my two favourite characters actually seem to have a mysterious number of scenes together--but if Miyuki's attempt lie to Yayoi was notable for being fumbling, I'd say Reika's was similar for being outrageously direct ;) :P.

There has been indeed a lack of hand to hand combat in Smile. Earlier precure series, espescially the first two (Futari wa Precure and it's sequel Max Heart) have longer and little bit more violent combat scenes - perhaps because those two were around near the DBZ era. Splash Star (the next series after Max Heart) has toned down fist fighting scenes and have energy attacks instead, probably as a means of offering something different.
*haven't watched yet the latest episode of Smile, so can't look at what people posted about episode 9 :meh:

These also have to be the most considerate villains ever to let their enemies have long conversations like that mid-fight.

But the writers came up with a twist early on, revealing that it's not about whether she will change schools (because we already know that's not going to happen). It's about something else instead (read Midonin's spoiler for details), which I thought was far more interesting.
Then from ep. 8:
Majorina: I call them...Switchrings!
Akaoni: Just that!?
Wolfrun: [unimpressed] You have no naming sense.
Then later in the same episdoe:

It was a good episode overall but it would of been more hilarious if there were actual transfer students at the end

We've met all of Nao's siblings and Yayoi's mom, but Akane just pulled ahead of all of them by having her entire family introduced in this episode. She's got some nice (and recognizable) voice talent in her genes. Her dad is Masaki Terasoma (Kintaros!), her mom is Satsuki Yukino and her little brother is Ryoko Shiraishi. (When you're going for someone with a Kansai accent, she's a natural choice.) This episode was very much Akane's time in the spotlight.
Overall, it was a pretty simple "parent's job for a day" episode, but there were some little things that made it stand out. This was probably the goofiest that Wolfy has been presented, with his quest for the perfect okonomiyaki (and being rejected because of his lupine visage), and it featured some nice power-doubling on behalf of Akane and Reika. She got all fired up, and Reika's ice powers resulted in the sauce dissolving. Looks like the Akanbe wasn't quite saucy enough.
Once again, Miyuki didn't killsteal. Akane had her time in the spotlight, and she got to finish off the MotW. That just leaves us with Reika and, oddly, Miyuki's family life unexplored.
Next week: Honey, I shrunk the magical girls
It was a really good episode. We're introduced to Akane's family this episode. Her father hospitalized with back injury and she decides to help run her family's okonomiyaki restaurant with help from Miyuki co.

Ah, well indeed, aside from Miyuki I meant. Precure always seems to have a bias towards the "main girl" every season...I don't usually really like it, but it feels a bit more acceptable in Smile.
Heartcatch and Suite were a bit frustrating because my favourite Precures in those seasons were Erika and Kanade respectively. It was even worse than Smile because Precure also seems to always have a "new Precure" bias. So once Itsuki/Seirin became Precure in the middle of the seasons, and then even further came Yuri/Ako, Erika and Kanade both got increasingly marginalized, and only Tsubomi/Hibiki got major focus once the show came back around for the finale. Since we're starting Smile off with all of the Precure introduced already, I'm thankful that at least amongst the other girls the focus seems like it'll stay balanced throughout the whole season.
Liddo-kun
2012-04-09, 07:38
That actually seems to be the norm in 4 member teams. New one gets the spotlight, others except main character becomes overshadowed. After 2 seasons of 4 member teams (Heartcatch and Suite), precure goes back to Precure 5 style in which majority of members are present right at the beginning.. it's almost assured now that everyone gets a fair share of episodes to themselves - with Miyuki getting just a little bit more than the others because she's the lead role.
On another topic, someone please correct me if I miscounted.. it seems that the Decor holder has less vacant slots than the evil clown's clock. Could it mean that the Queen will be revived before Pierro shows up? Hmm.

Looks like the shrinking episode next up is Nao's and the Kyoto trip episode is gonna be Reika's. Thank god they're keeping an even distribution with the girls, I would've been highly disappointed if those two got passed over.
That's why I like Smile so far because they have an even distribution of the girls but Smile might disappoint me if there's no more cures though since the 5 cures thing kinda ruined the surprise element and I feel like they can pull off 7 cures without being biased too.

Episode reminded me a bit of Cooking Master Boy anime.
Wolfrun likes Okonomiyaki? :D
It seems the Akanbe is in some way connected to the one who summoned it, because it grew larger when Wolfrun ate the food. Akane and Reika did some unexpected teamwork, allowing Akane to give the right uppercut to finish off the monster for good.
Another suprise is the roulette game during commercial break.
I didn't expect an Akanbe can actually be one of the outcome for it. :meh:
Finally watched it till episode 9. (Woah those girls fell for every little faint the akanbe was pulling off >_>; )
A great 'Cure series so far, I miss the epic brawling from the previous series a little but I'm confident it will get a lot more awesome from now on. xD

They have some good fight scenes. Akane's from Ep 10 was good and Cure Candy's from Ep 07 was also good. The fight scenes are regrettably and understandably very short because they have a limited budget and 49 episodes to produce. I don't mind the super-long transformation scene, which I can just skip over. I would rather them have excessive CG than just have the whole show look bad.

Do you like it, Animesuki?
new info about the rainbow healing: this is how all of the cures will look in their new transformation forms http://yaplog.jp/miyaty/archive/3400
Smile's really using its fairy tale setting to do some fantastical stuff that past seasons never really got into. Sure, the worlds the girls were fighting to save were always inherently magical, but the girls always remained fairly grounded in reality. Not so much here. When shrunken, the reactions of the girls were fun to see. Nao and Akane were cautious (and Nao freaked the hell out about bugs), but Yayoi was geeking out over the whole ordeal. I'm also liking the way the Decor from the previous episode is worked into the current one, and Pierrot is halfway tor revival.
Apparently bugs are capable of providing feelings of despair. The Majorina episodes are also starting to follow their rhythm, but it's not a bad one. The villains are still threatening enough, but they're as goofy as the heroes. (Majorina toying with them by kicking her feet into the ground, and then accidentally transforming them back to normal size). All in all, a fairly entertaining episode. It established its premise, and followed through on it in a consistent fashion.
With the exception of Reika (who will be after the next event), everyone's had their character built up. And now comes the most essential part of any Sunday Morning property - moichandise. Rainbow Healing, everyone.
so joker will appear again in the next episode maybe he will give to the bad guy something new

It's different from Rainbow Healing, it is called Princess Form and with an attack called Princess Candle
Miyuki X Wolfrun = Best couple evar. I had encountered at least three fan-arts about this pairing.
Doremi's delay leaves me a week behind.
Episode 10!
The show is as entertaining as ever, but a few of the shortcuts bothered me:
1. They didn't even animate mouth flaps in the distance shot when Akane was leaving her father's hospital room.
2. No connect animation for Cure Sunny's kick in the fight scene.
Other than that, it was a really good episode. I liked seeing Akane's family, and the show kept up the energy and humor, and, of course, I love the villains in this series. Wolfrun is quite funny and a badass at the same time. If this show keeps it up, it could become my (second) favorite season of Precure... Heartcatch looks difficult to top with its action/story, but this one has been very entertaining.
On to episode 11...

It's a Japanese cultural thing, the police box. We don't have them in the United States, only police stations.
Jokes this time:
1) Red Oni loses Majorina's magic item again.
2) Nao is courageous, but scared of bugs. Extremely scared of bugs bigger than her.
3) Bugs provide bad energy (same as humans). I laughed really hard at that one.
What is the hammer thing Majorina made? Is it really from the tale of Issunboshi?

Episode 11 is making it hard for me to pick a favorite, now Nao is probably my favorite along with Reika (and it'll most likely keep changing). I get creeped out easily (so much that watching something or playing something with giant bugs would be... difficult) but I surprisingly had no problem with this episode (it certainly helped that they made the bugs cute), I really enjoyed it.

Guys, I finished my brilliant re-interpretation of Cure Peace.
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/8018294/2/The_Illustrator
It's a thing.
Toei will always find a way to work Kyoto into its shows. I know the Edo set on their backlot about as well as the workers, and it is a bit odd that both the Kamen Rider Club and the Smile team are heading in that direction next week. But I'll focus on this week.
There's always an episode where the mascot feels under-appreciated, and this is that episode. Candy still hasn't learned how to blend into the human world after the Miyuki incident. Also, the episode begins with Joker giving everyone blue balls. Yes, really. Wolfy can't be around Miyuki all the time, but that's just taunting him. Having blue... noses also makes Akanbe completely immune to first cour finishers. Just when the team gets the idea to launch all their attacks at once, it's rendered useless.
I do like that Candy had no idea how she gave the team their powers. She just turned into Culumon on the spot and produced the powerup Decor. While it's a very small cosmetic change, I like the idea of the team having a group finisher. Less chances for Miyuki to killsteal. While their base moves merely smoked the Akanbe out, this flat out disintegrates the core. Wonder where they'll go after this. Rainbow Healing does make them 20% cooler - I can say that with certainty.
I wonder what is this Miracle Jewel Joker mentioned
Liddo-kun
2012-04-24, 11:54
A powerup so early in the series. Smile Precure keep doing things I don't expect. Reika is mature enough to be a good guidance counselor, she listens well to problems of others.
So reviving the queen won't be quick after all. Blue nose Akanbe from the Joker don't drop any decors. I wonder if he intentionally made those so that the "red noses" won't be used up quickly, delaying the revival of the queen.
Miracle Jewel
A Rainbow Jewel has been in a precure movie - but that's probably not related to the Miracle Jewel that the Joker is looking for in Smile Precure.
The new Candy-powered finisher is definitely a shout out to Porun in Futari Wa Pretty Cure.

As luck (or scheduling) would have it, both Fourze and Smile had two-part Kyoto field trip arcs airing at the exact same time. Now, every episode of Fourze is a two-parter, but for Precure, that's some damn good scheduling. Their universes may be separated by the barrier between 2D and 3D, but a meetup would be some very fun stuff. Miyuki and Gentaro have a lot in common, and Yayoi and Yuuki would also be great.
http://i.imgur.com/FD8GMl.jpg (http://imgur.com/FD8GM)
But enough fanboying. The actual episode involved Miyuki's "great misfortune" paper seemingly warp the universe to spite her. It was an amusing series of slapstick that extended well into the night. The night scenes revealed an interesting factoid about Miyuki. Her teammates quizzed her on who her crush is. Now if you asked me, I would've said one of her teammates. (Yayoi and Akane are the top contenders), but Miyuki's answer was... Peter Pan.
It should be noted that in most productions, Peter Pan is played by a woman. +1 for the yuri fans.
The way Akaoni was motivated to go to Kyoto was a nice gag in itself. Apparently they've jury-rigged a TV to get Earth TV signals in the Bad End Kingdom. Everyone thinking he was some sort of tourist attraction was also great. The Smile Pacts do have a tracking sensor that can be activated by friendship - they seem to operate on Rider Physics. I'll give my thoughts next week once the Kyoto trip arc wraps up.
Next week: The Smile team faces off against the Leo Zodiarts.
...wait, wrong show.

So the butterfly wings aren't going to be a permanent thing. They're just the ability of the butterfly Switch Decor. Still, it is the dream of man to fly. The Fourze pesudo-crossover could only last a week. While the Amanogawa group remained in Kyoto, Miyuki and friends set course for Osaka... and almost immediately got separated. The most interesting thing for me this week was the way the Akanbe was defeated.
Natto Gyoza Candy, which is apparently a thing, was forced down its throat and made it throw up. What this means is that a tower, a construct of concrete and steel, was given something resembling a digestive system. Miyuki and Yayoi were in the observation deck, but did the elevator shaft suddenly turn into its esophagus in the process? Magic can do some weird things.
I did like seeing Nao be almost completely unenthused when she got her power, her mind more focused on finding something to eat, and the chase of many near misses the girls engaged in. The vacation two-parter's first part was a little better, but I still enjoyed this week.
Next time: Miyuki's mother gets introduced. Three down, two to go. Another holiday is celebrated.
It should be noted that in most productions, Peter Pan is played by a woman. +1 for the yuri fans.

The smell of desperation....
Peter Pan is a male character who doesn't want to be have the responsibilities of a grown-up male. It's more an otaku reference imo. It could also be a peak into her wanting to delay the impending social responsibilities of being female wishing to be stuck in the fantasy realm.

Ep. 14:
Ever hear of cellphones, girls?
Majority of Japanese schools has a "no cellphone during school time" policy and some go as far as forbidding students to even carry them into school. Considering this is a school trip and thus is consider school time, it's logical the same rule applies so the girls aren't allowed to take a cellphone with them for the trip.
Also the PTA don't like the media promoting the culture of kids using cellphones for various reasons, and as Precure is for young children (pre-teen at that), Toei probably don't want to get into trouble.

Those are the old series though (the latest I see is what, Fresh?). Heart Catch, Suite don't use cellphone-style changers, with Smile that's 3 series in a row. If you ask me that would seem to be a deliberate move to avoid using cellphone-style changers.

Haha, wow. I've been thinking this for a while now, but what makes this season of Smile Precure much more enjoyable than last's Suite is that the antagonists are much more likable this season. Majorina was, for lack of a better word, cute today. Her snack antics and caring for the dandelion-akanbe, for instance. We then have Akaoni who's silly, and Wolfrun who's awesome, and we have the perfect antagonist trio for a kid's anime. The joker probably won't be, though.
I also like how this season is very interactive, we had April-fool's and now Mother's Day. I very nice touch, I think.

Precure somehow managed to combine blatant commercialism with blatant sentimentalism, and not make it completely bad. One of those Precure-branded necklace makers actually played an important role in this episode. The relationship between Miyuki and her mother was pretty heartwarming (and the montage of the whole team's moms at the end moreso. Just need episodes from the last two.), with a nice message about family love. Captures the spirit of Mother's Day very nicely, even if it's couched in "By the way, purchase this toy to make it even more special." I also liked the carryover of the natto candy from last week, with that being the motivation for Wolfy to go out and do some rampaging.
After using the red-nosed breed of Akanbe once again, I have no problems with Miyuki taking the kill. This is her episode, let her get the final blow in. The rest of the team got a chance to be plenty badass anyway. The Nissan Combo double-teaming Wolfrun on the ground was pretty nice, but Yayoi got the best correlation between her powers and pain. Channeling into a lamppost to electrify him. That's Railgun-level work there.
Next week: Reika is swamped with work, might stop being a superheroine. The solution to this is obvious.
Find a magic rock and clone yourself. I'm sure pixiv won't object to Smile Reicure.

Ha good agree I'm only episode 14 <<
An episode all about the importance of studying. It's times like this where this show's target audience and country of origin become apparent, but that doesn't prevent it from being a pleasant way to pass half an hour. Reika's mom gets a little more screentime; we also get introduced to her grandpa and her older brother. Yayoi and Miyuki are the only two Cures without siblings; this may explain things.
The Akanbe this week seemed to have some degree of sentience, though that may just be it reading off the questions in its book like a computer program. Of course, Miyuki is the one who failed at everything, but she wasn't the one nearly revealing the heroes' identity. Reika nearly revealed everything when she explained her temporary hiatus at the start. This season's being rather lax about identities in general. This won't be a majorly important episode except for the addition of another number to Pierre's count, and another Decor for our heroines, but it accomplished what it set out to do, with the same lighthearted and overall enjoyable style that Smile's set.
Next week: I remember an episode like this with Fresh. Make 'em laugh!

I love this anime
havent watch 16 yet, but 15 was pretty good, more fight scenes is always good. But why did Wolfrun use a red nose? he said he was pissed off, so why not use one, you know, that can't be destroyed easily? he even said "the red nose one didnt work", hasn't he watched the other 14 episodes?

The red nose is much stronger then the blue nose, but they come in a limited supply.
The blue nose was supposed to be harder to defeat, but the girls now have an attack that can defeat it anyway, so it's no longer that useful.
That said... Wolfrun held his own against two girls, with one hand busy. Why doesn't HE fight? He's stronger then the Aknabe :))

Still more powerful and much the better if it would force lacing ...
the akaoni and wolfrun seem like good fighters, not sure about the granny. I bet that jester would give the girls one hell of a fight.

Majorina's a witch, thus probably a long-range spell based fighter. Those are actually trickier then the power (Akaoni) and speed (Wolfrun) types. Joker, on the other hand, is probably all three, and much stronger then Majorina, Akaoni and Wolfrun put together. The only reason he's not fighting is because he seems to be searching for something that can probably only be found by the girls once they reach a certain level.
I mean look at this guy:

There's a Heartcatch precure episode that also dealt with studying - it was a good one. This Smile episode has a different approach to make a "studying" episode.
So Reika actually never chose studying, vice president and archery on her own will? It's amazing she did good on those. Well, it's nice to have friends - Reika realize what she wants to do in the end. :)

Well I think Joker only gave them each one blue nose each (unless more were given off screen). Besides that, from the start we knew the blue nose Akanbe were weaker, they just had the advantage of being unable to be destroyed by the normal attacks, but now that the Cures have Rainbow Healing, technically the blue nose Akanbe are "inferior" I guess...
Was that the same comedy duo that showed up in Fresh for episode 17??
No, that was Audrey (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audrey_(owarai)), I'm not sure who these guys are since I've only seen the ep live so far but it wasn't them.
EDIT: Checked the ep preview in the workraw even though the script isn't to me yet, the guys in the next ep are Fujiwara (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fujiwara_(owarai)). Barely related... hmmm... that's weird... the guys in the next ep haven't been on Sasuke (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sasuke_(TV_series)) lol
So it's an elementary pun, but after I saw it in Upotte! earlier today (translated as "Orange you glad I got you a drink?" - Not bad, translators), it was the first Japanese pun I could think of. On with the night's events.
If you thought Cure Candy was unorthodox, the not-really-a-transformation this episode is even more out of line (Cure Gorilla). But before that. Pretty much an advertisement for Fujiwara, with everything a special guest appearance entails. What I like about this cast is how they can maintain their personalities while still playing off each other in varying ways; whoever's the smart one can change, but it'll still feel natural.
While Reika is normally the big sister figure to everyone else (along with Nao), she was playing the fool this week. Her upbringing must've left her not knowing much about the common man's comedians, though Nao was the only one not to embarrass herself on stage in the first go-round.
Seeing two Akanbe sent out at once, along with all three villains involved in the plot, made for an overall fairly well put together episode. pixiv is going to have a lot of fun with the idea of Wolfy and Akaoni dressed up all fancy. Because the fake mustache will totally hide the fact that he's a big hulking monster.
It is pretty clear how the "real" Fujiwara stand out in terms of character design compared to the 2D cures, so it was a little jarring, but not too much so. Miyuki hasn't forgotten her "Go-Precure" deal either. The little nods are really good this season.
Next week: NaoYayo was one of the biggest couples on pixiv before the show debuted, but I haven't seen much interaction between them in the actual show. Next week looks to change that. There's also something about field day.

The main thing to take from this episode is that Nao is very athletic and Yayoi, as is usual of most toku fans, is not. Lots of Yayoi being cute and Nao being supportive this week. Everything was riding on the relay to the point that Akaoni's attack was pretty much brushed off as a distraction, though forcing the girls to play a game of tug of war with the MotW did make for a somewhat different battle.
This episode hit nearly every story beat I expected it to, save for the end. Yayoi may have succeeded, but Nao suffered from basic human error, and Team We're The Main Characters lost. Like, last place lost. That's a bit more of a bittersweet ending than I was expecting. Some small losses are fine, and I get the feeling this was merely planting the seeds for next week.
Next week: Yayoi prepares to make the audience cry.
Going by the end card, we should have powerups on the way.
With all the Cure Peace/Ika Musume jokes going around, I happened across this. A drawing of Peace (he did the others, too) drawn by Masahiro Anbe, Ika's creator.

This is surprisingly one of the more serious episodes. There's a little humor of course (Miyuki unable to grab the baton, Reika running in place? :D), but most of the episode focused on Yayoi's insecurity about running. A rather dramatic end too, this episode showed that even precure can lose in sports events.
Oh, and lastly. In the middle of the episode, looking at all of them sitting together - I get the feeling that Nao seems to be the most mature among the 5.

Days already passed since the episode aired, so I'm not putting it in spoiler anymore.
Maybe it's a message to young girls (and boys) in Japan, that even heroes can't always win. Who knows, some kids might try to avoid being sore losers after they've watched it. :)

Well, there's still a lot of time for that to happen.
Precure series are usually 40+ episodes.
I think it's because all 5 precure are introduced early, so they're concentrating more on character development of the main cast first.
This might be one of the best episodes of anything I've seen this week. In a week full of body switching, haters, time travel shenanigans, bear attacks and legendary chefs, it's Smile that pulls ahead for a flawless victory.
There's been a somewhat higher concentration of holiday themed episodes than usual for this season, and this one is Father's Day. I don't know if Yayoi's dad is dead or just on a really long business trip. There's no traditional mourning place set up in their house, but the episode was kind of ambiguous on the whole thing. If you ask the pixiv artists, Yayoi's dad is really Kamen Rider Some Guy (http://midoninja.tumblr.com/post/24546389512/the-smile-fanbase-has-really-taken-to-kamen-rider). This is my personal headcanon, but I should focus on the actual canon first.
I knew from the preview this was going to be an emotional episode, and it delivered. The constant rainy atmosphere and low musical cues established the tone right away, along with a homework assignment about finding out the meaning of everyone's names. The other main characters were pretty obvious. (On that note, Miyuki's hero [one of them] is Momotaro. Her dad is Momotaros. This has not gone without comment.)
The fight against the paper kitsune was simply gorgeous. The animation was fluid, dynamic and even when it switched to stock footage for Peace Thunder (a victory which Yayoi totally earned), Yayoi didn't get the goofy "I've just been electrocuted" expression. She remained dignified and kicked Akanbe ass with grace, style and power. The music didn't even change during her attack. It flowed beautifully.
There were still some lighthearted moments, of course, such as Miyuki's umbrella flipping over on itself, but the episode stuck to its tone, all the way through to the end. Oh, and there was a subtle change in the OP. The girls' powerup modes replaced their normal selves at the very end, but that's the extent of it.
A very competently made episode that was a joy to watch. Excellent work, Toei.
Now, after an emotional week like this one, onto some jokes with Miyuki and Akane going invisible and Majorina using another of her ill-named inventions.

I think I remember someone saying that Yayoi's dad was dead and this was confirmed in the one scene where they were walking with their umbrellas.

I'll agree on her new form looking awesome. But I thought it was because of golf, not a holiday

It is a weakness of Smile to not use secondary characters to develop its primary cast.
I wonder what will happen in the 2nd half of Smile since they got power ups (Princess Form) in this half. I hope it is new cures since I'll be bothered if the orange jewel and purple aren't used.

I guess it would be a matter of personal preference. I've been through Precure 5, and liked the change that Smile didn't go the Precure 5 route in regards to secondary characters.
Precure 5 had a second mascot arriving and staying as early as episode 7 (or 8?), a reporter, a cafeteria cook, etc. I'm actually liking the fact that Smile didn't have those for the first half. Miyuki and her interactions with the other 4 and Candy is entertaining enough for now.

Nao's about the only one unchanged, since her hair was poofy enough as it was. Akane is probably the biggest difference, which might be why the pixiv community has taken to hers the most. They always do when a tomboy lets her hair down. (See: Ritsu)

I saw at a wiki that they were originally designed to all have long hair.
Long hair plan for everyone was scrapped because it made them all look too similar (or something that).

Only got round to watching episode 19 yesterday, but have to post to give credit where it's deserved. I don't have many expectations of Precure other than it will be fairly entertaining and have some pretty sparkley stuff, which I happen to like. So where did this come from? Great art direction, genuine emotion, believable dialogue instead of cliché spouting, is this really Precure? A small thing I liked, when the girls were walking home in the rain discussing their names, Akane was annoyed with Nao for mimicking her accent, we saw her expression change several times before she told Nao off about it, it was more subtle than the usual way they'd do such a joke while still being funny and cute. Another nice piece of character interaction was near the end where Chihaya imitated the way Yayoi said she really liked her name. Slightly making fun of her but in an affectionate way that told us they aren't just mother and daughter but best friends as well. Oh, and they made Peace beautiful, parachute hair and all, she was beautiful, not cute, not pretty, beautiful; and, as Midonin wrote, she had dignity to go with it. I had doubts when I first saw her design and read the description of her personality but she's turned into a heroine suitable for the main target audience rather than the otaku-bait moe-blob I was fearing. Bravo Toei.
Yayoi is still everyone's little sister, and I adore pixiv's interpretation of her as a toku fanatic on par with Gai Ikari. If anything, that only makes this episode more powerful. Yayoi loves heroes, and as this episode showed, when she's motivated just right, she can be one. Her popularity with both sides of the fanbase is well deserved. (Though the fanbase loves everybody, as a whole and in various combinations. The amount of memes popping up around the characters is staggering.)
Make a contract with me, and I can make your wish come true!!

I'm surely hoping for that cause 20+ episodes and nothing has happened yet.

I have lost interest in the show, totally.
Someone here mentioned the fact that the only character-developement we got was about the cures while in Cure-5, we got at least some background characters.

It's fast I mean ... Smile will ultimately Precure how many episodes? Is that his will be like the others? Just over 40 or 26
The Nissan Combo fans are going to have a lot of fun with this episode. We can also add ghosts to the list of things Nao's scared of. Yayoi, on the other hand, considers being invisible to be cool. And now I'm hearing the Decadriver going [INVISIBLE] in my head. It was the "clothes (and homework) are also invisible" kind of invisibility, so no public nudity like Saki's recent island trip.
Candy really needs to stop picking up random objects that are left on the streets. Majorina does a convincing job making them look like non-magical things, so that's a point in her favor. This was a typical Majorina episode, hitting the usual beats with the policeman, the effects of her latest gadget, and a nonstandard, much smaller Akanbe. This Jack in the Box is a regular Old Bobo, seeking to cause nothing but pain, and also to hit you.
This is one of the few episodes that ended on the same note it began. Presumably, there was another Akanbe fight later in the day. The snowstorm cleared up really quickly, too. Maybe since the snow was magical, it dissolved instantly, or the sun is really hot that day. Seeing little elements like the Go-Precure pose and the natto candy continue to return makes the series a little better.
The most major thing that can be taken this week is Joker saying something about Candy having a secret. Princess Form, maybe? (Peace's Princess mode on the end card was giving her best "I am going to kick your ass" face.)
Next time, Princess Celestia's brother pays a visit on Tanabata.
