Yes it's licensed. It's being released by Bandai, seeing as how they've done it for both Crest of the Stars and Banner of the Stars I.

Actually, Banner II would be the name Bandai chose - most people who watched it fansubbed knew it as either Seikai no Senki II or Battleflag II...

Two volumes are out - only one more to go, and the last volume even includes the Birth special~

It's a good thing I heard about that before I dropped $30 on the birth special R2 ^^;

Question:

Is Spoor still alive after the last episode of Banner of Stars II ?

why do you ask, but
no she doesn't

hmm the bonus episode was ok, banner III is alrdy written and IV still is yet to be written. I can't believe that there are people who liked this show I thought no one did... hooray! I feel happy that I'm not the only one.

o yea and the reversible covers are pretty cool when I saw the third one I was kind of confused because it didn't look like it related to to dvd, but then all was made clear.

its kind of weird, but this is the only series (as in COTS, BOTS, and BOTS2) that I have ever bought on dvd heh

Don't read, if you haven't seen episode 9 in Banner of the Stars II
Actually Admiral Spoor survived. Her flagship, the Lashkau, sent the regrouping message to the Basroil after the battle, and is mentioned among the surviving ships. Funny thing is that they say it had minor damage, but it was full of holes and badly beaten up... I don't want to see how a heavily damaged ship would look

Anyone I know who watches it likes it, well crest of the stars that is. I still havnen't seen any of the banner of the stars. I'm still waiting for a box set of it since I got the crest of the stars box set and don't really like single dvd sets when I'm sure one day they'll have one if they did it with the first season.

I read on the AoD forum that many people considered Crest/Banner of the Stars
the surprise hit of the year for them, so I caved in and ordered the Crest of the Stars
collection box (cheap anyway). Well... I liked it so much the next order was one
of the biggest in recent history -- the remaining 6 discs!

So in about a month I went from not having seen it at all to having it all...

OT, but serious question, I watched about 3 eps of banner of the stars and I saw was talking talking talking and talking. is it really that good?

Like everything, it's just a matter of tastes. I found it really good, but I can understand some people wouldn't like it. There's no such thing as an universally liked anime :)

Also it would help if you actually started from the beginning, and watched Crest of the Stars, since Banner of the Stars would be like the 2nd season.

I agree. Though I haven't seen as many as a lot of people around here.

For me, there is the right balance among talk, emotion and action. The future society is interesting. And Lafiel is a deeply fascinating and affecting character.

I'd like to see the novels themselves translated. I think all that's being done so far is abridgement into manga form. In Japanese, Crest seems to be three non-illustrated novels. Any native speaker (or equivalent) interested in working with me on a proposal?

Just wondering if you know a site where I can read the translated version of Banner III, I just finished watching Banner II for the 4th or 5th time and really wanna find out what happens when Lafiel and Jinto go back to Martine together.. Been lookin all night for the site I saw a few months ago with the translated novels, but I can't seem to find it.. If you could send me a link, I would be greatly appreciative..

ohhh, old tread revived. i know what that means!!!

somebody is really into this series and can't get enough of it so had to go online to find people to discuss it to make themselves feel better.

very understandable given the anime in question. one of my favorite series of all time, and the one that made me the most emotional and nostalgic.

okay, since you just really want more, take this

http://www.geocities.com/gatewaytoseikai/p_summary-t_senki3-l_en.html

seikai no senki III summary.
sadly however, its only a plot summary and doesn't say much about the character development between Lafiel and Jinto, but i guess its better than nothing.

too bad the anime is no longer being produced with no future plans to produce seikai no senki III on anime.

also sad that no more novels are being written, although the dvd's are still being released. apparently, Bandai is trying to sell more dvd's cause the cover of one of them features a nude picture of Admiral Spoor. :heh:

english boxed sets of senki I and II are going on sale next month. you can get them at dvdpacific.com for really cheap.

of course, you can also do what most people chose, that is download it for free.
hmmm, i think i know why they aren't producing anymore seikai. apparently dvd sales sucked. reasonable though, since everybody downloads now. :heh:

One of the best anime series ever. I kind of confused the order and i thought Crest of the stars was the same as Banner of the stars first series. I realized that it wasnt after the first two series of "the banner of the stars", so i was kind of confused about it and partly ruined the " crest of the stars" for me. So probably didnt enjoy it to its fullest. All that said it is certainly on my top ten favorite animes ( probably top 5 if i had watched it in order).

Any ways i have a question on the last episode of the " banner of the stars" second season. When Jinto asks Lafiel what she is going to do about her becoming a princess , Then lafiel responds. What i didnt fully undrestand was Lafiel's response.

Did she mean,

1) since the current emperess was from her family , it wouldnt be shamefull if there wasnt another emperor/emperess from her familly for the next few generations

2) or That she could become an emperor later ( in the next few generation) and since the current emperess was from her familly ( also would probably rule for few more generation) , there was no hurry.

3) or that since the current emperess was from her familly , she couldnt become emperess next any ways.

I wasnt completly sure which one she meant, but that what i figured. Any ways thanks for any help in advance.

^ I don't exactly remember the scene, but i think she meant the 2nd variant. And she certainly is in no hurry - if you watched Banner of the Stars III (2 ep OVA) you would know that the last thing we know is that she

Returns to piloting her assault ship, with Jinto coming along as her chief of staff :)

The current Empress is currently her Grandma. I think what she meant was that she isn't in a big hurry. She still has a long way to go anyway and taking a bit of time of form the military isn't going to hurt her chances.

Yay for reviving old threads.

So have any of you heard of a petition for the licensing of Banner of the Stars III??

I need a help.

There are two 'complete collection' releases for Banner of Stars II from Bandai.
The first box was released in 2004 and the second one was released in 2006.

One thing that confuses me, the second release includes the OVA, but yet only has 275 minutes showtime, while the first release has 325 minutes. How could this happen?

I notice that the first release is still available, albeit with higher price. Which one is the better one? Recommendation?

Thanks in advance

I assume you are referring to the orignal box set (Banner of the Stars II - Complete Collection) and the later discount set (Banner of the Stars II: Anime Legends Collection)?

One thing that confuses me, the second release includes the OVA, but yet only has 275 minutes showtime, while the first release has 325 minutes. How could this happen?
According to the listings on the Bandai website, both releases contain the OVA and both releases are listed as 275 minutes. The second season is only 10 episodes + the OVA, which should equal 275 minutes. I would guess that where ever you saw the 325 minutes listing was a mistake, or else it was mixed up with the first season box set, which was 13 episodes and was 325 minutes.

I notice that the first release is still available, albeit with higher price. Which one is the better one? Recommendation?
Well, according to the Bandai website they are both exactly the same, so I would just go with the cheaper Anime Legends set. It is kind of curious why they would bother to keep both sets in pint if they are the same, however.

So... what's the current state of the story? Is the author of the novels still working on the fourth arc? Has general interest waned after all this time?

This series is a hidden gem. The first thing I did after finishing Crest of the Stars was to order the next box set... It's like I'm in this phase right now where every anime has become boring all of a sudden in comparison. I just need to see what happens next.

He's working on the fifth Banner novel. From what I here, he's a bit stuck.
