View Full Version : Which series would you like to see continued?
my question to you is.
Do you have a series of which you woould desperately like a 2nd season or a spin off?
I for one would love to see another azumanga daioh title. another class? chiyo in america? Or give Osaka hes own series!
Also I would kill for another record of lodoss war arc.
I hope there sin`t another thread like this. if so I didn`t see one.

I'm still waiting for a group to pick up the second season of Godannar. It's been about 2 weeks or so since the premiere and everyone is so busy taking on new series...

Don`t think that was what i meant :)
Is there a series of which you`d like to see another season made (no subbed) which isn`t planned at the moment?

I'd like an animated sequel to Shingetsutan Tsukhime.
A 3rd Full Metal Panic! to cover the remaining novels would be cool as well, followed by a 4th like FMP:Fumoffu?
Azumanga Daioh in college would be cool [I can imagine it being more for older folk, though].

Ai yori aoshi season3 perhaps? Love Hina season 3 would fit. The manga gets to the part where they both get married. Keitaro and Naru. I wanna see that animated.

Narutaru primarily, since they could most likely fit the rest of the manga into another 13 episodes. I'd like to see another season of Berserk, though the manga is quite long and still ongoing, so I'm unsure where they'd finish the next season.

I'd like to see more Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou OVAs!
Or even a short 13 episode TV series for it.. >.>
I like to see Berserk and Narutaru continue.
Fruits Basket definitely needs a second season. I want to see the chicken!!
I want a Gundam SEED 2. :D
1) Hellsing
What else can be said but the fact that they didnt close this series at all.
2) Narutaru
Haha Same as Hellsing

I agree with you Haren, yes Hellsing should be continued!
i'd also like to see Get Backers continued, or atleast some kind of OAV or Movie to explain some more about the series. I'd also like to see another Fatal Fury movie, those are so damn good, also some more Battle Angel Alita would be nice.
I'd also really like to see Yami no Matsuei continued, i really liked that series alot. And one more, You're Under Arrest 3rd season, just because that series is sooo damn good!
well that's my two cents :)
~~~>Kaoru
hm, i'm not sure why so many people want a second season of shingetsutan tsukihime...the ending seemed pretty final to me...
anyway, i definately want another season of Fruits Basket, same with Hellsing
an OVA of the nadesico arc between the end of the series and the beginning of the movie would be nice too (a lot of us dumb americans don't understand what the hell is going on in the movie...glad i looked it up)
while it's not EXACTLY anime, i'd like another Lunar game >_<
1) Hellsing
What else can be said but the fact that they didnt close this series at all.
2) Narutaru
Haha Same as HellsingBoth of these could be continued, in both cases the manga extend well past the end of the television series and there is enough uncovered plot to warrent a second season or series. I personally want to see Alucard declaring war on a city because someone touched his coffin. ;)
3) FLCL
How can anyone say no to more crazyness.I don't think you could continue this one. The manga had a definite end to it and most of the craziness was due to Raharu's interference in Nouta's life. With her gone, there isn't much left to build on.
I want a Gundam SEED 2. :D
Oh some-higher-being for some-alternate-place-after-death sake, no. It is enough already that I had to watch the compilation special few weeks back with another DVD release of that special sometime soon - and most likely the compilation for the second half of series as well. It's been several months the series ended and it still makes the cover of Newtype Magazine ever other month!! I want to see some different anime characters take the spotlight. Yes, GundamSEED was great and I personally enjoyed it, but the attention it is getting is too much...
Conclusion: Dismiss the above as a rant as a viewer from the original Gundam era.
love hina (I'd like to see the manga end animated), fmp and hellsing.. problaby
I wouldn't exactly like to see the current Shingetsutan Tsukihime storyplot continued. Since it was too well done in the anime, it would be a risk that no sane person would take, and I'd hate 'em forever if they botched it in any slight way. Maybe one of the alternate endings in the doujin game might make a good series? Or maybe even something describing the interactions of the "wizards" and the Shinso/Shinto at the very beginning.
i wanna see chobits continued...
GunGrave is indeed an amazing series. Much, much better than the PS2 game, trust me. Starting with the second episode, it's excellent.
Another Record of Lodoss War arc would be fun, though I'd like it following the OVA occurrences rather than the TV one, but either one is fine. Hellsing *needs* another season, the manga is just way too cool to pass by. Gonzo said they'll probably make another one when the manga is finished, so I'm looking forward to that. The Millenium arc is just unbelievably cool :)
PMK, Chobits, Hellsing, CCS, fruit basket, FMP, and lots more.
Ai Yori Aoshi : season 3 : I finally wanna see the relationship between kaoru and Aoi develop further.
Stellvia ot Universe : season 2 : There is so much left to tell in this beautifully optimistical anime, lovely characters, beautifull art, scifi, and the positive attitude towards mankind, yes this show needs a good sequel.
Shingetsutan Tsukihime : season 2 : So many questions have been left unanswered about the Tohno family the church and Arquied, it would be easy to make an anime which has the same atmospere as the first one that explain these things or goes even further.
Full Metal Panic : season 3 : Considering how awesome the first two seasons were and how easy it would be to expand the story I really want more of this, it's a perfect action/romance/comedy mix like so many anime try to achieve.
Peace Maker Kurogane : season 2 : So far this awesome historical anime has barely scratched the surface. Following the line of history it can easilly give us alot more awesome episodes.
More Hellsing and Fruits Basket, please! Wouldn't mind a Pretear prequel centering around Takako and the original Leafe Knights either... :)
Hellsing and Nadesico
But I reckon the comic for Hessing is way too extreme to be animated
I would love to see a second season to Haibane Renmei (my all-time favorite anime!). I'd also like to see more Chobits and Onegai Teacher (a second season about Kei and Mizuho).
I want to see more Berserk but after reading the manga (the one and only manga I will ever read) They F'ed that series up so bad, especially at the end.
I would also like to see more
Hajime no Ippo
Hikaru no go
Excel Saga
Golden Boy
and Ping Pong Club.
Flame Fist Ace
2004-04-17, 04:22
Hajime no Ippo - One of my favorites, never really had an ending either.
GET BACKERS - They leave you hanging so badly... there better be a 2nd season!
Scrapped Princess - Well.. they should have made it longer with a better ending. I liked the series a lot and 24 episodes wasn't enough!
Oh My Goddess (it seems like an follow-up is in the works, yeay!)
Full Metal Panic
Gundam SEED - more from the Cosmic Era would be great.
Peace Maker Kurogane : season 2 : So far this awesome historical anime has barely scratched the surface. Following the line of history it can easilly give us alot more awesome episodes.
Indeed, I'd really like to see PMK follow history until Tetsu's death. Many don't know, but there's some proofs that Tetsunosuke and Tatsunosuke really existed, and that Tetsu was indeed Hijikata Toshizou's page. However, as far as I know, there's only some papers of their registration in the Shinsengumi. But again, PMK should follow history until the death of Tetsu, as well as the other Shinsengumi members.
An anime that needs a second season is, without a doubt, Berserk. The "real" manga begins at volume 13, exactly where the anime stopped. But they would need to redo the series in my opinion, since a lot of important passages (such as the Black Dogs attack) were left aside from the anime.
Other one is Hellsing. A second season would be really good, after all. But as far as I know, the manga is different from the anime, so I don't think that a second season would work, after all.
Hikaru no Go needs a second season too. So does Great Teacher Onizuka. But what I'd really want to see is a Bleach anime. The manga is very popular in Japan, popular enough to be animated. Wonders if someday we'll see Bleach in anime ^^ Even though this is not relevant to this thread :D
TangentZ
2004-04-17, 10:18
:hmm: I don't understand why people in this thread keep bringing up Hikaru no Go.
There is at most one special worth of story left from the manga, after the 2004 special. That's all. The end of the Hokuto (North Star) Cup tournament is The End of the manga.
There simply can't be a "second season" unless the anime writers make up their own stories... which is very likely a bad thing to do... :dots:
My list of series I want continued:
Nadesico (nope it never ended, really, not even the movie could end it)
Tsukihime (more explanation about the past would be great, as well maybe an alternative ending)
Hellsing (yes! more alucard vs priest action! i WANT MORE!)
Giant Robo (what the...?! come on...don't leave me hanging here man!)
GTO (he still needs to get some unfinished business done hehehe)
Love Hina (none of these specials or OVA crap, i want to see a REAL ending)
Maburaho (i would like to see another season only if it's good, not like the 2nd half of the first season which degraded into lots of crap)
Cowboy Bebop (no not another season, perhaps a side arc done as an OVA or another high quality movie)
Berserk (yeah, i definitely want more of this dark masterpiece)
There is a sequel to Shingetsutan Tsukihime in the form of the doujin fighting games called Melty Blood. I'd like another animated one because Revolve isn't done translating the Melty Blood storyline, yet. Also, can someone post some info on Melty Blood: ReACT?
I just finished Witch Hunter Robin, and it'd be nice to see a short OVA or something that reveals how the future turns out.
Definitely Full Metal Panic the first two series are just so good!!!!!! I want to see the rest of the plot in the novels animated...and wanna see chidori and sousuke get somewhere *sigh sigh*
Another series i really want to be continued is spiral...man the art and everything is sooo good, even the detective part of the story, but honestly, after watching the 25 eps, i'm just like: who the heck are the bladechildren??? and why the heck are they cursed??? far out...honestly, after finishing the series, i knew practically just as much about...well anything, as when i started....hehehe
As mentioned before:
Narutaru: This needs to be done, I want to see it, and if it was done it would elevate the anime from good to absolutely great in my list.
Someday's Dreamers: I really liked this, and 13 eps was too short for a very well created world.
Jubie-chan 3: More Jubei! I love you! Bring Fresha back as special guest too!
Crest of the Stars: I know there are already 3 series, but aren't there like 8 novels? This was such solid sci-fi: I want a LOGH type of ep count!
Gunparade March: I guess there is a sequel to this since Kenran Butou Sai takes place in the same universe... I'll have to check that out.
Gunslinger Girls: I liked the ending, but I want more.
OK, enough of the obvious... let's go out on a limb:
I My Me Strawberry Eggs!: Call me crazy, but you _have_ to figure out a plot device to get that guy in a dress again...
Excel Saga: I think its about time for another great satire show, and there's none better...
Ranma 1/2: Ummm just kidding.
Sailor Moon Live Action: They need to do Sailor Moon Stars Live Action. Really, I DARE them.
Maburaho had a weak ambiguous ending. the shows great but Id like to see a sequel. Also Ah my goddess DEFINITELY deserves a longer run, Haibane Renmei should have been much longer because its my absolute favorite, and finally, Id like to see another season of Galaxy angel :)
Vandread
I hope Hibiki plants his seed in all 3 girls :heh: :twitch: :) :fingers: :nono:
Tsukihime
There's already a sequel to the game so why not the anime?
Giant Robo (bring on the last epic episode already!)
"Last epic episode"? How do you mean? The Night the Earth Stood Still: Giant Robo was completed. All 7 episodes were even released in North America by Manga entertainment on VHS (sadly it seems they've dropped the DVD release and may not be renewing their license).
Do you just mean continuing the story? There were actually multiple OVAs planned for the Giant Robo universe, some not even centering on Daisaku or Giant Robo....well, even less so than The Night the Earth Stood Still . There was:
"The Domino Operation"
"The Birth of Zangetsu the Midday"
"The Plan to Assassinate Daisaku - the Canary Penitentiary"
"The Boy of Three Days"
"The Greatest Battle in History - General Kanshin vs. Shokatsu Komei"
"The Boy Detective, Kindaiichi Shoutarou, Appears!"
"The Siege of Babel."
It would certainly be a glorious day for anime if these projects were made a reality.
I have alot of them i wanted to see more but this ones are the most important:
Tsukihime - I really hated the way it ended.
Full Metal Panic - More More More i don't care if it's comedy or action just bring Sousuke and Chidori back :(
PMK - This is one of the worst ending i saw EVER for one of the most interesting i was seeing, when the anime gets all dark and gloomy with Tetsu action they bring on the fireworks and end it in a party :twitch: What the Hell Was That.
Hellsing - Another truly awful ending and of course more Alucard and Police Girl action.
And Finally the other series i really wanted to see more of it animated seems to be coming Ah! My Goddess.
Im glad a lot of others are saying PMK :)
Gunslinger Girl for sure. 13eps was no where near enough
Another series of GITS SAC after 2nd GiG cause im a mahoosive GITS fan
Another season of Bebop, Fumoffu and ROD would be nice too. Hellsing could be finished and Production IG should make a season about Blood that actually explains what the movie didnt.
Im sure there are others.
Definitely another season of Azumanga Daioh, you just have to know what university's they went to and what ends up being their future profession. Also the continuation of their friendship.
Hundred Stories. Actually 13 episodes is perfect for the story, but I feel that at least one OVA special could be made to properly wrap things up.
And damn it--I want to know what really happens to Mataichi and co.
i'd like to see more episodes of Tokyo Underground made. it was a really good series and i think it'd be interesting to see what happened after they got out. Maybe deal with the organization the built Underground.
Hellsing would be great. I'd really like to know who Incognito's master was.
Trigun because it was funny and had great action and a great story you could easily continue the show
and Hanaukyo Maids just because it was really funny, maybe show the main guy (Taro ithink) in high school or something.
roguenoir
2004-04-22, 03:41
Gunslinger Girls: The ending was too random and abrupt.. they really ought to continue the series.. dunno if the manga continues on where the anime leaves off.
Ai Yori Aoshi: Perhaps the whole gang should pay Tina a surprise visit in the U.S.
Last Exile: I was kinda sad that it was over (not that the ending was overly sad).. I really wanted to see certain characters further develop their relationship - this series might be able to use a FMP Fumoffu type sequel though it was completely go against the seriousness of the original.
Hellsing Season 2
Golden Boy Season 2
GTO Newer season
Full Metal Panic Season 3
(When it ends) Yukikaze
My vote goes to Berserk. However, I'm curious as to why you'd want Yukikaze to have a second season when it's only what, three episodes so far?
there is a "general anime" forum here if i'm not mistaken...
I already post in that other thread Griffith mention but I'll post it again, I want a continuation of Angel Sanctuary! please, please, three OVAS is cruel for an AS fan.
Actually, i'm kind of an idiot AS fan 'cause I haven't read the complete manga, but the artwork is so spectacular that I can stand almost any plot given, but Im pretty sure the plot is not that bad...one can dream, but if the miracle happened to us Saint Seiya fans, it could happen to anyone! keep praying!
I would love to see another season of Kare Kano, they are up to manga 17 in Japan, so there should be enough for at least another one...
Fruits Basket When I got to the last episode in the anime...i was dissapointed...there is so much more they could do!
Someday's Dreamers This anime's art was so good....I was hoping for a longer story...but it lacks climax...which I was anticipating near the end..but it never really came. They should really show some more development in the characters.
Peacemaker Kurogane I agree with previous threads ....this anime has so much potential! I would love to see a second season.
i dont know why, but i'd hafta say evangelion. initial d is being continued as we speak =DThe only way I could see Evangelion being continued is if it followed the alternate universe story from the television episodes 25 and 26. For instance, if it followed a path similar to that of the new Girlfriend of Steel manga it could be a viable and somewhat interesting show.
Berserk is #1 on my list, hands down.
Hajime no Ippo is already too long at 75 eps + 3 oavs/movies, but the manga is still going. If Inuyasha can go into the 100+s, then so can Ippo!
I'd like to see continuations of:
D.C. ~Da Capo~ (Alternate Story or Sequel)
Kanon (Sequel)
Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien (forget Akane Maniax, how about an "alternate ending")
Kono Minikuku Mo Utsukushii Sekai (Sequel, it seemed unfinished)
GetBackers (Sequel)
Hani Hani: Operation Sanctuary (Remake with better story)
Wind -a breath of heart- (Sequel)
Interlude (Sequel)
Shingetsutan Tsukihime (Sequel or something with more Yumizuka Satsuki in it)
Tokyo Mew Mew (Sequel)
Azumanga Daioh (Sequel)
Ultra Maniac (Sequel)
Now... this is all wishful thinking. The trend these days is that after a sequel has been made you wish they had never made it. Well, that's how I usually feel.
Juuni Kokki, without hesitation. There are still some arcs left to animate (Tonan no Tsubasa, Tasogare no Kishi Akatsuki no Sora).
A second season of Tsukuyomi wouldn't hurt either. :upset:
A second season of Tsukuyomi wouldn't hurt either. :upset:Couldn't agree more :D But I think they might have to wait for more of manga? But... the anime ended so well, so I'd be upset if it wasn't as good as the first Season :upset: but if the same stuido handels it. It might be ok :)
Tenjou Tenge ~ Would be Great to see the rest of the manga animated, but I dont see that happening, for some reason they decide to do 2 OVA's and leave it just as open-ended as the end of the first season.
I'd love to see more 3x3 Eyes in anime form. Also from series already mentioned I'll add more votes for Berserk, Narutaru, and Gunslinger Girl.
There's already going to be more Hellsing, so all it's going to take is patience instead of wishful thinking.
I'd like to see them show more of the relationship between Chitose and Mitsuki with them getting closer instead of leaving it off at Happy Lesson The Finals
Umm Codezeromind, I think you should spoiler that comment. Not everyone has seen HappyLesson Final.
For me it's always been one Anime. More MABURAHO!
Personally,
Full Metal Panic as they still have a lot more to go.
Maburaho also as one of my favorite light novels
Higurashi no Naku Koroni I sincerely hope they do the "Kai" part as well. Without it, it ain't complete.
Uchuu no Stellvia I want to see more of Shi-pon goodness...
Shingetsutan Tsukihime Or rather, completely remake this series as if the anime never happened...
Cowboy Bebop
Trigun
Slam Dunk
Love Hina
Ai Yori Aoshi
there are tons of others...just can't think of em...
Cowboy Bebop would be my choice, after that Last Exile, Samurai Deeper Kyo and Big O ...:D
school rumble, its a bit pointless but very funny.
There is a second series coming up for that in spring's new season.
1. Uchuu no Stellvia, I think this is the only show which truly needs to have a sequel considering the way the first show ended. Ah well too bad the director said it was impossible :(
2. Gundam F91 yes the sequel is available as a manga but it needs to be properly animated. Chance of this happening is smaller then Stellvia 2 especially if Tomino want to stop with Gundam related works after Zeta a new translation.
after that I can think of some shows like FMP but its not high on my priority list :)
shocked to see that no one mentioned it (that or i just missed it)
Elfen Lied Season2 would be like......heaven O_o
Stellvia would be top of my list. School Rumble and (apparently) Ah! My Goddess are both set for sequels so it's all good :) Aria needs a second season too, can't get enough of that Undine goodness (seems there is a second season planned, so keeping fingers crossed).
And:
Elfen Lied Season2 would be like......heaven O_o
That would be my definition of hell, couldn't watch any more than about the first 10 minutes before dropping it.
Couple of other awesome series I loved that don't really need a second season because they finished fine on the first season, but I wouldn't mind seeing a second season:
Last Exile: Expanding on Lavie, Al and the gang's story would be nice.
Kenran Butoh Sai - The Mars Daybreak. One of the coolest series I've seen in a long time, I'd love to see more of it.
Kiddy Grade. Awesome series, only let down by
the lower quality (IMHO) character designs when Eclaire and Lumiere the originals appear later in the series. If it wasn't for that, I'd want to see more of them. But since I don't much like the new versions, I guess a second season is a bit pointless...
And on a final note, if Kare Kano hadn't gone to hell just past halfway, and had a decent ending, and the original producer was going to work on it, then a second season would have been very high on my Must Watch at all Costs list.
Agreed, Kare Kano needs a second season. But let some one else other than Gainax do it. That way we don't have the crappy key animations being passed off a true anime.
If I only watched the first 10 minutes of an anime I wouldn't think of myself as qualified to rate it merits. Thats why I don't post in the worst anime thread. I don't see how I am qualified to rate something that I droped after one episode because other anime interested me more. It was the realization that Kouta knew Lucy in the past that hooked me on it. And the people after Lucy were, in their own way, monsters too, perhaps more so than she was.
The amount of gore in Elfen Lied is disturbing, and not something I feel inclined to view. Therefore it's got no merits as far as I'm concerned because I don't want to wade through rivers of blood (and assocaited severed limbs and so on) to find the merits of a series. Bearing in mind that I skimmed through some of the other eps as well to see what level of disgust awaited me. I wasn't dissapointed.
To date, this is only the third series I've ever dropped (Tenchi in Tokyo being the first and Futakoi Alternative the second, and that's because I couldn't stand them after watching half the series). And I've watched 120 or more series, so 3 dropped out of that lot is pretty good going I feel.
I just wondered why you felt compelled to post about it being bad when you, by your own admission, didn't watch it. The blood and gore were, in this case, necessary to the story. Unlike a lot of series that try to make up for the lack of a story with fanservice. I don't feel compelled to post on the shows that I actually watched and ended up not really liking because there are others that did like them. There are a number of shows people want sequels to that I didn't care about. As for what I would like to see another season on.
OMG! I serously want to see a second season of Hikaru no Go!!!!!! I can't stand the ending. I really felt like crying, even though I saw that one hour special about the international prelims tournament.
I'd like to see Ai Yori Aoshi properly finished then again I can wish for a starship too.
Looks like there *might* be more Negima and if properly done I could stand several seasons of that (note the PROPERLY DONE bit).
Once Mahoraba finishes the manga series, it might be nice to see a second season but it did finish nicely in season one so no complaints.
Personally, I'd rather some properties that were mucked up be redone by writing teams with a clue.
I might be alone in this but I want more episodes of Ichigo 100%! The way it just... ended... after 12 episodes... left me unfulfilled.
I also nominate Kare Kano. Just abruptly ending right in the middle of a story arc was a letdown. I know after 7 years it'll probably never happen, but I can hope :)
Juan, I hate to admit it, but the remainder of the story as it was meant to be told, is in the manga.
As far as series that I want to see continued go:
Tenchi Muyo (post-Jirai)
Seikai no Senki (Banner of the Stars) IV and up (heck, make a series out of III)
Shakugan no Shana (since it's still debatable whether a second season will come or not)
Gantz (talk about disappointing endings... whew, god!)
A new Rozen Maiden series, or at least add on to Traumend
Ranma, an old anime but there was a skip inbetween season 7 and the OVA's and they never finished the story.
More Seikai no Senki and Juuni Kokki~ :(
I'd kill for a Full Moon Wo Sagashite OVA about Takuto and Mitsuki >_<
I want sequels for these:
Princess Tutu
DearS
Chrno Crusade because THAT ENDING BLEW GOATS. They could bring Rosette and Chrno back if they speed ahead to Revelations in the bible and it'd be an all sweet revolution of the world against evil and stuff!:D
Yami No Matsuei
Fruits Basket
Galaxy Fraulein Yuna
Yay for Rozen Maiden, this is one that definetly takes my vote.
But if you ask me, the ending for DearS and Chobits are just fine. They don't seem like series you'd take that far (Although I AM currently buying DearS manga to know how it really ends, because that scene in the end of the Anime happens in the third volume. Sucks not to see the rest of the series animated.).
I think that something awesome to see would be an FMA OVA or second movie, with Al and Ed already in their mid-30's, after WW2. It's something I'm planning to write someday =\.
Anime that I REALLY would like to see continued:
Rurouni Kenshin : the Jinchu Arc is the most definitive, coolest, and most bad-ass arc of the entire manga! :cool: It was really disappointing that all that crappy filler forced the anime to be cancelled before this got animated! The story of the Jinchu Arc is SO GOOD, that, if they decided to animate/air it now, it would still surpass Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece in viewership!
Flame of Recca : The anime ended with more questions than answers: Recca's mom is still uncured of her "immortality curse", did Kurei die or not, what happened to Mouri Kouran, etc. There were also "relationships" that were hinted but never developed, i.e. Fuuko and Raiden, Joker and Kaoru, etc. If the anime continued the second half of the manga, the story would have become darker and more involving, but the fights would still be as engaging as ever. The ending of the manga has tremendous dramatic potential.
Slam Dunk : the Inter-High Championship games, especially the dramatic game against Sannoh!
Mahou Sensei Negima : the anime was crap...they should've stuck to the manga storyline. This should be something to condier if there is a second season.
Honey & Clover (when the manga has built up enough material)
Seikai no Senki (can go on forever, as far as I'm concerned)
Marimite (I think the novels/manga are continuing)
Iketeru Futari...wtf is with that ending?
It's just like they just cancelled the series halfway... :frustrated:
BECK Mongolian Chop Squad
The manga has now around 24/25 vol and the first series stop around vol11
So thre is probably enough story to make a second season
Gunslinger Girl
Seconded. I have three volumes of manga, I saw it fansubbed and then bought the DVDs and I want more. Manga continues from when the anime stopped, and it would bring joy to my heart to see it animated.
Well the one anime that I really really want to have a sequel is Rozen Maiden. The 1st 2 series of Rozen Maiden is a gem and I just wanted somemore after watching the finale of Rozen Maiden traumend, the already interesting storyline could go on and I'm sure if there's a 3rd series it would be more popular than the previous 2.
Chobits
Trigun
Yumeria
CardCaptor Sakura (Sakura rules :love:)
Aishiteruze Baby
To Heart (an extra with the old characters please)
MaiHime (yes yes I need more of that :p)
Full Season for:
Nanoha (probably in high school, weeeee :love:)
Twelve Kingdoms (it needs at least one more season)
Shuffle (written WELL this time, this show needs to atone for all the green I was forced to endure)
series that i would like to continue:
-- shuffle!
-- maria sama ga miteru
-- shakugan no shana (it's ending..but i'd like to see more)
-- rozen maiden
-- fullmetal alchemist
-- kiddy grade
-- d.n.angel
Fullmetal Alchemist - what kind of crap ending is that?
Shakugan no Shana - one of the best animes ive watched this year and they absolutely have to make a second season after the ***** because it has something to do with the bad guys (i dunno how to make a spoiler tag so meh)
Tenjou Tenge - how is the Ultimate Fight OVA an "ultimate fight"? i can't find the manga anywhere either
Black Cat - err the manga is so different..and i think theres more stuff to it
Aishiteruze Baby - ending didnt resolve anything
Mai HiME/Otome - 3rd season? :twitch: why not?
Elfen Lied - wtf happens?
Chrno Crusade - may i say rushed ending?
Aishiteruze Baby
MaiHime (yes yes I need more of that :p)
Yes yes. Especially Aishiteruze Baby! :)
The responses in this thread gave me a lot to think about, and also proved that some of my long-held assumptions were wrong. I expected many individuals would list shows that conformed to their favorite genre, e.g. "I like giant robot shows". I also expected many to list a couple dumbed-down shows that were designed for mass appeal. But no, folks listed the same few excellent shows even though they were from totally different genres, were specialized in nature, and required significant effort to keep up with. I found this very encouraging because it suggested to me that real fans could appreciate a good story regardless of the cover it was hidden behind, and weren't put off by having to think. Cheers to you all!
Like everyone, I'd want more of my favorite shows, but some series are "just right" and don't need anything more, e.g. "Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora". However, there are some series that I could logically see more episodes for:
Aishiteruze Baby: If someone had tried to recommend this show to me before I'd seen any of it, I would have laughed and skipped it, thinking it was too dorky to bother with. But it turned out to be one of my favorites and I want to know what happened next.
Kino no Tabe: I loved the show's exotic-yet-disturbingly-familiar places and want to visit more of them.
Kita-he, Diamond Dust Drops: These two or three episode personal stories were excellent.
Fruits Basket: Just because everyone's admitted that they were crazy doesn't mean that the story is over.
Ichigo Mashimaro: Although nothing ever happened, this was a delightful series and I would enjoy seeing some more of their lazy days.
Last Exile: Such a huge and elaborate universe could have easily supported another few series.
Narutaru: This remarkable show had sooooo many stories left to tell.
Continuation or new series from makers of PLANETES. That show was pure awesomeness.
Continuation or new series from Elfen Lied's makers.
New series from makers of Boogiepop and Paranoia Agent.
Fullmetal Alchemist deserves a new ending to make up for that absurdly crappy conclusion and silly movie.
The one series which drowns out any calls from anywhere else is Narutaru. One of my favourite series of all time, and precisely half the source material done, and at present, an absolute non-ending.
Oh, and KareKano of course. Pretty much all of that can be applied to it too. But somehow I'm far hungrier for the Narutaru option, probably because the big dramatic things in it were at the end, whilst KareKano's best episodes were basically the first half of it.
Top of my head ...
1) Slam Dunk
2) Tenjou Tenge
3) My Hime/Otome
4) Rozen Maiden
5) Mushishi
urm.. thats about it, sometime I wished to have more Hikaru no Go (especially to see a return match for both Hikaru and Akira), but with the manga have ended, I dont want it to be just some lousy fillers .. so :(
Oop, I'd like to see more Twin Spica too (I knew I'd forget one).
I'd like to see a proper ending mini-series for Ai Yori Aoshi.
A proper epilogue special for Love Hina (hey, this is fantasy wishing, eh?)
A second season of Mahoraba would be nice once the manga completes but the first season ended well, so thats just a bonus thought.
I'd really like to see Negima *redone* and then finished properly. End the first season on the end of the Kyoto arc, execute the second season with the buildup of the "team" and the various conflicts from the Baron through the festival. My gods, what a lost opportunity for fun fanservice and magical combat if they don't :)
OTOH... I'm perfectly happy with TMP, REC, Mahoraba, Lamune (once its done), Kanon, PPD as is. The only Canvas 2 I wouldn't mind seeing more of is a Hagino & Tomoko adventure hour <rofl>. Magikano is "complete" as is but meh on the ending device.
Jury's still out on Karin, Kashimashi...
I'd like to see the Jinchu Arc of Rurouni Kenshin animated. That was in my opinion the best arc in the series and it's a crime that they cancelled the series right as they were about to get started on it.
I'd also like to see the Gantz anime continue. Not very likely considering that weird filler arc at the end that may or may not have ended with Kurono dieing... but I'd still like to see the rest of the series animated. Maybe they'll do it after the manga ends.
Ideally, if the syndicates have their way, the manga will never end, much like Ranma (non-ending). >.>
I'm sitting here thinking about how the Berserk anime cut out lots of stuff directly prior to the Eclipse (including a few fights that probably would have been nothing short of awesome animated) and then just dropped off in the middle of it, and how I'd been hearing that the Fate/Stay Night anime cut lots of dialog including backstories and motivations, and how I'd heard that the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya anime had barely glazed the surface of the manga (though at this point in time, it looks like its probably going to get another season or five), and it made me think... 13-26 episodes isn't anywhere near enough to tell some of the stories and that many anime try to tell, and on top of that, I'm often left wishing to see more of my favorite casts after their shows are finished.
I already know what you're going to say... drops in quality, redundancy, etc. But you know, the only once-superior shows that I can think of that dropped to such an unbearable low that I stopped caring due to redundancy and all around mediocrity are Ranma 1/2, Inuyasha, and Dragonball. (Rumiko Takahashi needs to learn how to progress a plot past setting it up) Yu Yu Hakusho, Full Metal Panic, Hunter X Hunter, Monster, Great Teacher Onizuka... all of those have gone over the 26 episode norm and still managed to keep the quality up at a relatively interesting/entertaining level at their worst points, and there are a fair amount of other anime that have managed to do the same.
And even in the cases of Rumiko Takahashi shows and Dragonball (and whatever other shows that I forgot to mention, if any), at least I can say that I'm not going to be longing to see any new stories featuring Ryoga's bad sense of direction, Inuyasha's punk-like battle front, or Vegeta's arrogant attitude anytime soon. Even with the boring, repetitive turns that their shows eventually took, at least I wasn't booted from their universes before I had my fill.
I think that 52+ episodes needs to become more common. I think that the anime community exagerates how long it usually takes for the longer series to start slipping (Dragonball and Ranma lasted a lot longer than 52 episodes before they stated heading south), and even if they weren't, I'd rather see a slow down at some point in an otherwise good series over having it end before its lived out its potential.
A 26 + 26 approach works better, IMO (like with GITS:SAC... the power of the American Market to get an extra movie, a 52 ep series and an extra movie based off that to top it off!) Doing 52 at once almost always seems to drain the studio and results in a lot of crappy outsourcing.
Also, it's good to give breathing time for better production and scriptwriting planning. And it's a good way to keep the fans watching for the 2nd season - end the first one with the whole "damn, that should've been 26 eps!!" sentiment... and then pleasantly surprise them with another 26 eps...
But at the same time, some would prefer to just keep it into 26 and use it as more of an advertisement or jump-off point for related merchandise... actually, that's the case with a number of anime these days it seems... they don't put in all that much effort into the story or the show but it's enough to get people to look it up a little if they're interested, and then buy the manga and figurines.
Anyway, a straight-out 52 ep series (like FMA, Seed, Blood+, Eureka 7) is frankly speaking impossible (afaik) for late-night shows. Only 26 + 26 will work, I should think. And even then...
GIANT ROBO
JUUNI KOKKI
the rest i dont care :
- PMK suck due to lack of story and it would need 10000 seasons at the pace season 1 was going.
- FMP will eventually come i m kinda sure about it.
- Cowboy beebop. no need story ended and we know what is needed to know
- Trigun i could live in where trigun never ever existed one of my most hated anime :/
- Berserk would turn into a hokuto no ken anime: kill, new enemy, kill rince and repeat. the anime already showed the best part of the manga : development of the character/relation etcetc (though berserk is one of my fav running manga)
- Kenshin OVA covered the best part : younth as a killer then his last years when he dies. manga just plain and entirely suck (i hate pseudo goodigood character that dont kill in a violent environement just because the book is for kids... get lost)
- gungrave no point in reviving Brandon he is dead for good this time and no point now that his friendship/hate/vengeance relation toward Harry has been settle to bother his rest.
On a side note i havent seen narutaru but i know the story of the first season since a friend really enjoyed it, therefore i can t judge but seeing how extactic he was about it i think i could deserve a second season.
Tsukihime could too since i loved that anime but the story was about arcueid settling things with Roa and shiki accepting his "power" and it s over it s nice that those shadows are left around it make you interrested in the games.
I cant think of anything else for now
slam dunk is the only one i want. although i'd like to see another extremely similar anime like Peach girl which ended perfectly.
I thinks theres should be a sequal to cowboy bebop. I don't like it that spike died T.T oh and fruits basket needs a second season for sure
Trigun and Chobits.
Trigun because that ending was conclusive, but they definitely could have done more.
Chobits because I'm a Chobits fan. No other reason
fruits basket needs a second season for sure
There are rumours of the cast getting back together to do a sequel, but there's nothing concrete and it's just a rumour.:)
Rozen Maiden and Trigun especially Rozen Maiden because the ending left me like this: XP
I would love to see Junni Kokki Finished like it was supposed to. It was so good, then they left so much out :(
They need a sequel to Suzumiya Haruhi. 11 eps is just waaay too short. On the other hand, some series are dragging their feet... *cough*bleach*cough*. :eyebrow:
This thread again? :heh: Anyway, I don't think continue is the right word, but there needs to be a Battle Angel Alita/Gunnam TV series. Of course, they should throw out the old ova completely and follow the manga more closely. Since the sequal manga Last Order is ongoing, perhaps it isn't a complete impossibility? Just 99.99999% impossible...:heh:
Jinki Extend. The last episode that went on sale straight for DVD neither make any sense nor gave explanation about the Lost Life Phenomena, the Jinkis, and Kokushou's whereabouts.
They forcefully closed on each of the female cast members respective epilogues; there was not even any Jinki action in that episode.
Karin, the Blood-Giving Vampire. I feel there's still much more to expand about Karin and her family. Overall, the series was critically acclaimed and lauded by the otaku community of Japan, plus the DVD sales are doing good.
I would love to see Junni Kokki Finished like it was supposed to. It was so good, then they left so much out :(
JK the manga didn't finish either right? I heard she just quit it and started Ceres.
I'd say Chrno Crusade. The ending felt very unsatisfying to me. In any case, the redeeming part is that it leads nicely to a continuation of the series, with Azmaria Hendric taking over the heroine role from Rosette Christopher.
I'd want hunterxhunter to continue.. ;P
and samurai champloo.. i mean it just cut out right there. It was getting good too and 26 is just too short. I hope 3rd season comes out soon. Anybody know?
Elfen Lied for me. I'm obviously a big fan, and at 13 episodes and an OVA, it just left me craving more. =( I'm sure they could find some way to spin off from the last episode.
Meh... I just like to see the following properly finished, no expectations it'll ever happen:
Love Hina, Ai Yori Aoshi
I wouldn't mind seeing the continuing adventures of Haruhi and the SOS Brigade by having them animate more of the novels.
There are a couple of series that could stand a remake with a more proper length and more budget for the animation. Petopeto-san is one.
Probably my most likely-to-happen chance is 3rd season of Nanoha (or at least an OVA or two) given the rumors I'm hearing.
Most of the other series I can think of are a case of "it'd be nice but there's really nothing left to say so it'd just be recycled stuff".
Hmmm, Hikaru no Go, I want to see a conclusion for the Japan/Korea/China tournament, Suzuka, no real resolution for the running, plus I want to see Yamato dump Suzuka and head back to Honoka. Planet ES because it was awsome. Ouran High School Host Club because it looks like they'll only be one season. Aishiteru ze Baby, because the Kippei/Kokoro relationship was just starting to get good and Mahoraba Heatful Days because the romance never really came.
HUNTER X HUNTER
HUNTER X HUNTER
HUNTER X HUNTER
i don't care about any other show as long as this show still continue.
Enough said.
Burst Angel! they could of covered more ground...;_; so beautiful.
Midori no hibi? Isn't that done?
Now I could do with a 2nd season of Burst Angel. The adventures of Mune Mune Meg.
A full on 26 episode series of Shakugan no Shana-tan, now thats what i'm talking about.
Everyone's said Haruhi already so I won't bother, but there IS plenty of material to make a new season out of. Other than that, more Nanoha - another season seems pretty plausible, the writers have shown they won't go over the top and the quality showed no sign of slipping in A's. Other than that, Higurashi needs a Minagoroshi OVA or at least something to cover it. Can't see much chance of that happening though =/
Either Full Metal Alchemist or Beserk. Cant' get enough of either of those two.
Princess Tutu: Duck deserves better! :sad:
Martian Successor Nadesico: Fav couple needs resolution
Kare Kano
Munto: Munto 2 didn't resolve much.
Tokko: Really needs resolution
Shuffle!: Primula needs her own OVA. :)
Tsukihime Lunar Legend: more Arcueid
Fate/stay night: hollow ataraxia :)
Negima!: Let's pretend that Series 1 never happened. :p
MS Igloo: More CG goodness and drama
xxxHOLiC TV: 32 ep. is not enough. Need more Zashiki Warashi :love:
Banner of the Stars
Spriggan: Movie was fun, but a series would give us more background and develop it alot more.
OMG. I don't really want Tsukihime continued, I want it remade by KyoAni, and then lengthened to 24 episodes and show how the true ending REALLY rocks. Or how Tsukihime REALLY rocks.
OMG. I don't really want Tsukihime continued, I want it remade by KyoAni, and then lengthened to 24 episodes and show how the true ending REALLY rocks. Or how Tsukihime REALLY rocks.
i had a feeling you might say that
Well, they could always make spin-off out of it. Perhaps Melty Blood? At least that one could still be included on the negotiating table, but frankly a proper remake is what I'd prefer. Either way, there still would be more Arcueid. And that, my friends, is what all matters.
Then again, I am already quite satisfied with the Tsukihime anime despite the mixed reactions it received. I don't even care if the character designs are more mature-looking. Heck, I like them that way. And the music.. Who can forget the music on that one? If only it could've been longer...
The one series that really, really needs to be continued is The Twelve Kingdoms. And of course, Emma can't be bad either.
Zappster
2006-08-07, 21:46
Twelve Kingdoms is a definite. Mushishi as well, I don't think the entire manga has been adapted to the anime yet, if so I'd love to see more of it in an animated form. Be it a new series or a set of OVAs.
For purely selfish reasons I'd also like to see a sequel OVA(or even a series) to Planetes, which takes place just as Hachi and co are arriving back from their trip. It doesn't need continuing as I thought the series finished quite well, but as I said just for me I'd like to see it anyway. Doesn't even need to have much going on and could just be more slice of life, perhaps detailing the trials and tribulations of their family.
cowboy bebop.... how i miss you :(
Kinda weird though, to make more episodes now that the main character is dead. Sure they could make episodes about Faye, Jet and Ed, but without Spike it would be a drastically different show.
If you've seen Emma, you'll know why: The ending is a slap in the face, an awesome slap but a slap nonetheless.
I'd like to see more of Eureka Seven. However, realistically its probably best to wish for a movie rather than a continuation of the series....Or at least an OVA.
I want the "promised" second season of Genshiken to pull through, instead of the waste of time and money that Kujibuki unbalance likely will be.
Gungrave. At least make an OVA. Tell us what freakin happened to the two instead of having us guess.
Shakugan no Shana has a movie.
Trigun, Mai Hime/Otome, KGNE, Tsukihime (I agree with physics, it needs a remake at the least), and Suzuka.
Tsukihime [CMON SHOW ME NANAYA SHIKI!!!!]
Fate/Stay Night [fate/hollow ataraxia plox]
Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu (obviously? :heh:), simply because there's still a mountain of material to cover. Also, as much as I'd hate to admit it, Gunslinger Girl. Philisophical, controversial and action packed, I felt that it had the potential of being one of the major pillars that holds anime in high regard - that is until the cheap-shot gut-punch ending (I don't know how many people share the same sentiment though...). It was left so widely open that I could have sworn that studio simply decided to leave the series at the climax.
Therefore, my nomination for a KyoAni remake is Gunslinger Girl
Full Metal Alchemist, i want to know the rest of the story! :p
Third or fourth time I've mentioned this show today, I must sound like a complete nerd.....
But Shojo Kakumei Utena, the ending they gave just wasnt enough, and I really wished the movie would've been SOME sort of continuation..
Azumanga Daioh, like what if they meet again when they're adults? Will Yomi and Tomo still be friends? Will Kagura become a Gym teacher of the sort? What will happen to Chiyo-Chan in America? and what about Kaorin's "obsession" with Sakaki?? Will Nyamo still be single, and paying for Yukari's food at a restruant??
right now? Ouran High School Host Club, I want a season two in order to avoid a rushed ending.
after seeing it recently i want more tenjou tenge -.- the ending was all too annoying...i mean wtf was that!! the main fight that was never to be? cnt just end the series on thin air and not conclude it...the fights were awsome tho
For purely selfish reasons I'd also like to see a sequel OVA(or even a series) to Planetes, which takes place just as Hachi and co are arriving back from their trip. It would be boring slice of life then. I just can't imagine an earth-bound planetes. :p
I have mixed feelings about a continuation for planetes. On one hand, I wouldn't want it to continue because planetes is one of those series I enjoyed very much and one that ended on a good life-goes-on note; and well, for those reasons I want it to remain a closed chapter. (I guess my sentiments would be along the line of: "leave the classics alone" tho I realise planetes may not be a classic.)
I also don't see how they can all return to the good old days of debris collecting; it was the themes and team dynamics that evolved from the situation of debris collecting that really made the series, maybe thats why I want it to remain as it is - Anything without debris collection would not feel like the original planetes.
On the other hand, I would like to see some resolution beyond Hachi's leaving for Jupiter. Maybe not exactly focused on when they come back, but his 8-year journey thru space and related adventures; and finally reaching Jupiter. However that would make it a very boring Hachi-centric series, unless they introduce new characters.
1)SHnY - For obvious reasons
2)ZnT - Bring on the dark moments!! and ofcoz more of louise's tsunderekoness!!!
3)Aishiteru ze Baby - agree with crysys on this, I would have liked to see the real ed animated
4)Shana - more loli with red hair and katana pls..
For Tsukihime, I agree with all of u, this anime seriously needs better treatment!! it would be best if kyoani did a remake and extended it to 24 eps...
Full Metal Alchemist no doubt - its a fantastic piece of work, and the 'ending' they give is just about as open ended as it gets, they didnt finish ANYTHING with it
