Lets just say hypothetically speaking there will be another season of FMP...

Would you want it to be another fumoffu? Or would you rather go back to the more serious mecha action that was say in FMP!. Also, would you like to even see another season of FMP? Im just curious as to what you guys think.

Personally, I believe they left the ending to Fumoffu rather open, especially since Sagara's and Chidori's relationship didnt get very close yet. I mean, it improved drastically but they never got to the point of expressing their feelings to one another. I believe this is good grounds to think that there might be another season made to 'finalize' everything. Considering they only dealt with Gaul in the first season, I believe there is also a lot of leg room to bring in another villian so to say, I mean taking out Gaul wont solve all of the worlds terrorist problems, there is always somebody to take his place (as with the real world).

So, state your opinions, what you guys thought of the series overall etc... I thought it was great, I mean, I liked everything that Gonzo made, especially their anniversary piece Last Exile.

I personally didn't care for FMP season 1, but I absolutely love Fumoffu. :D

Fumoffu all the way.

I wouldn't mind some mecha action, as long as it's more/less humourous as well.

FMP1 really ended badly, in my opinion... and I HATED 'the villian that never dies'...

FMPF was really good light hearted comedy.

Though I would have liked it more if they provided at least a hint that Sagara and Chidori got more intimate.

I mean, not even an accidental kiss >_<

if they are going to end it, they are going to have to give it a serious story and it's probably going to be like season 1

thge first seacon was alright with the crappy ending. but i love FMP:F?. i would like to 26 episode continuing where FMP:F? left off and put in some mechs episode.

Aye, I agree that a FMP-F was much more enjoyable than season 1, I personally hated the idea of the 'Behemoth' which seems totally unreasonable. But I'd like to see a season 3, all-be-it I think it should be a bit of a hybrid of the two seasons, the battles themselves and the story should be serious, but the inbetween stuff such as certain conversations and actions should still bring some laughter to the screen.

And I mean... we CANT forget poor old Tessa who has had a crush on Sagura for like ... forever :) We gotta see a come back of Tessa peeps :)

I thought that their relationship progressed nicely in Fumoffu.

At the end where Sosuke grabs Chidoris hand and takes her to the infirmary and tells her to strip. She thinks he wants to have a last fling and gets shy and doesnt want to. Sosuke puts his hand on her shoulder and tells her not to talk just to take off her clothes.

And in the next scene she is behind the screen wearing only a towel.

Which to me means that even though she said she didnt want to have sex in a place like this and was nervous when Sosuke put his hand on her shoulder and asked the second time, SHE DID STRIP!

To me this means that she was going to go through with it not fully realizing at that point and time that Sosuke was not going to make love to her.

sosuke may be a brillant tactican and excel in hand to hand combat but boy is a little slow on the take where women are concerned.

I want to see more Chidori, more Tessa, more Bonta-kun, more mecha, more comedy, did I mention that I want more Tessa?

I'm hoping GONZO will take over production of the third series so they can fill in the plot holes. Not that this other group did a bad job with the characters, but GONZO may have a better idea of where they were trying to go with the sereis in the last episode.

Wasn't that GONZO? The same people who did Hellsing right? I remember them saying that they weren't going to do another Hellsing, because they were doing another Vandread and more Full Metal Panic.

But its *Sagara* we're talking about for crying out loud :p He'll just throw a few kicks and punches, throw a few stun grendates, lob a few shots from his bean-bag shotgun and be on his merry way with half the school knocked unconcious :p

You cant underestimate him

And I also thought that Gonzo made Fumoffu?...

But yeah, we need more Tessa, Chidori, and more mecha :p

don't we all don't we all :heh:

Whatever they do in season three as long as they don't overdo the mecha part i'm happy, and leave the hilarious comedy :heh: , flirting definitely has a new kickass meaning to me these days and i never feel safe around shoeboxes any more :heh:

I just watched the first 4 episodes of Fumoffu today, this one of the funniest animes i have seen.

WHy did i ignore this one for so long, when like 10,000 people download it every week? :D

Hmm, maybe for the next season, I would prefer to have both the mecha actions and fumoffu. :D

That would be a great mix, right? And maybe a romantic ending too. :heh:

I'm pretty new to anime, I only started torrenting it a couple of months ago. Over here in norway we get NO anime on regular tv (give or take pokemon and digimon..), and what they sell in the stores is usually only akira and ninja scroll. I think I saw GITS once but I could be wrong.

Anyway, FMP is just genious! I actually started watching FMP:F because it was what I found first, I've now watched the first season as well, but as you guys already said, it's not as great since it's more a basic action/mecha thing.
I'm impressed at how they managed to keep FMP:F funny and romantic without getting sloppy. Their relationship is so adorable without being cheesy.

I certainly hope there will be another season, and I would prefer if they kept it in style with Fumoffu (Unless they come up with something new).
I think some drama and action is for good measure though. The part in Fumoffu where Chidori falls through the hospital floor was a great contrast and weighed out the comedy nicely, a little more of that wouldn't hurt.

My favourite quote from the series, "I won" :D

Quick question. Since they sell so little anime over here (I have to import it in a foreign region), what's the "gentleman's rule" on downloading it? Am I free to download anything that's not licensed in my region? Because that would pretty much be everything (as far as series go) I think.

Fumoffu was done by Kyoto Animation, I think. They have a hand in quite a few series, including Inuyasha, if I'm not wrong.

I want another fummofu-like serie, but with some mecha too. But they can leave out the lambda driver. god I was tired of that thing in the end, and of Gaul too...........

Maveric
2003-12-07, 18:15
Gaul is dead this time for sure, so you don't have to worry about him any more. The Lambda Driver was the reason Kaname and Tessa were "Whispered" in the first place. You can't have the mecha and not have the Lambda Driver in the story.

Starfall
2003-12-07, 18:38
Damn! But what about some action without the big fighting robots?
But.... Now that Gaul is dead, no more hunts for whispered, and therefore, no more Lambda driver! YAY!:D

As almost all of you said , I really want a new FMP season ... but .. I think that the meca part should have more to offer than in the first season ... and surely to have our two little lovers being together before the end hehe ... I'd really appreciate that they end together ...who's not about it eh!

I just want to say too that it's one of the best anime I've ever seen even with the translated edition I liked it so :D ... it's all for me ... you sure all have great taste in animes hehe

i would like more fmp-f

i enjoyed the first one... watched fmp-f first then went out and bought the dvd... hehe more mech action would be nice... and i didnt like how the villan kept coming back too...

but the first one kinda left some holes in the plot... like how did they become whispers? through genetic enhancements? and a bit more on the characters background would be nice...

Well, now I feel weird. I loved FMP:F but if there was to be another season I'd rather it be more like FMP. There wasn't enough of a storyline for me in FMP:F. Yeah, she had to trust Sousuke in the last episode but they already did so much trust stuff in the first season, like with the (ominous music) Lamda driver and Chidori telling him how to use it. Plus he gets the motivation to first use the Lamda driver because he gets so angry thinking of Chidori being hurt. Blah, all that stuff is old to the story now.

Not that I would mind another season of FMP:F, I still thought it was hilarious and I wish it would have been longer. I just wouldn't want to see another season like FMP:F be the wrap up to the story. Not unless they did it so that it was more of a cross between FMP and FMP:F so maybe a few more funny storylines then FMP had but more serious story lines then FMP:F

Oh yeah and I doubt we'd see the Lamda driver again since Tessa took it out of his mech to put into the ship . Though I suppose it's possible.

Did she?!

When?

Going to put this all in spoilers for anyone who hasn't seen the end of season 1.

She took the Lamda driver out sometime before Gaul is captured. Remember how Sagara is trying to use the Lamda but it doesn't respond at all? That's because it isn't there any longer. It's what Chidori uses when she is controlling the ship. I'd need to watch the episode again but Tessa makes a very vague reference to it at one point, I think while she is talking to Chidori not long before Chidori makes a break for it

I didn't notice it either the first time I watched. Then my husband made an off-hand comment about it and I was like "what the heck are you talking about?" and he explained. It suddenly made everything that happened with Sagara make a lot more sense.

thing is, idk why u all are talking about what the last season would be about. the series as a whole has been following the FMP manga pretty closely so far, and since fumoffu ended, there is still one mango book left unported to anime form. the last season, if the powers that be choose to create, will most likely be based off this last manga book. the only question is weather or not they will actually create an anime version of that book, or leave us to read the manga alone.

I am realitivly new to fan subs myself. but I do belive that is the general rule, but as this is all p2p you will be at the mercy of american distrobution more or less. I would recomend getting a region free DVD player and import the licenced titles.

Ok back on topic.

I would love nothing more than to see a 3rd series of FMP done in a fumoffu style. I am having a hard time coming up with a more hillarious show I have ever sceen. I will sell my first born child as a slave to animators if they make this :)

Just watched Full Metal Panic Fumoffu about a week ago and all I have to say is that "I love it". Who wouldn't ? It's so freakin' funny. I haven't laughed this hard since Galaxy Angels. Hope they make a third season then fourth, fifth until we're tired of it.

Fumoffu definitely, but they should try and incorporate some more mecha if they can. They should try to develop the Chidori-Souske relationship more. It's so obvious they like each other, and I was kinda disappointed with how they did nothing with it in Fumoffu except on the second to last episode

having just recently finished both the 1st season and 2nd, i'd say i'd rather have something along the lines of the 2nd. more light stuff. delve into the romance (if you can call it that) a little. maybe finally have chidori and sagara "hook up" but i doubt that'll ever happen.

I think another season in the mould of FMP?F would be best. For me the first series' combination of serious mecha stuff and comedy just didnt gel properly at all (especially since the story was kinda glossed over, with pretty much no closure at all).

Just finished watching it! OMFG! I'ts F#C(# AWSOME! I've only seen 4 eps of the first season (freind let me borrow the dvd he bought but it only has 4 eps! nooo!! and anime suki can't provide download links cos it''s licensed - oh well I'll just read the manga then I guess lol ) Any way I must say it's soooo funny, but I defenitly think that there should be a season 3 cos the story isn't finished off. Anyway I don't think that Sagara did do it with chidori in the last episode cos he still had his clothes on. Also more Tessa would be awsome - especially at school lol It's soooooo funny when she has fights with Chidori. Ok that's all! Hope season 3 will be good - and have more Tessa trying to get Sagara lol And oh yeah more fights! Sagara is awsome at fighting.

Darn.. I was hoping season 3 would have an apocalyptic ending (Eva-esque or Saikano-esque).. something like the power of the Whispered becomes a double-edged sword and ends up destroying the world. Sorry, I have a thing for apocalyptic endings... Kinda wicked, but at least nobody's gonna be hoping for season 4, 5, etc. and be disappointed they don't come out.

Realistically, it might end up being a combination of season 1 and fumoffu. I'd envision Bonta-kun's reappearance and more secrets revealed about the Whispered in the same series..

FMP's got to be one o' de best anime yet from studio GONZO  and I want to see more Sagara-being-whacked-over-the-head:bash:-by-Kaname scenes again:D.

Seriously though, they got to make another series, i woudn't really mind what they do, as long as they got everyone back in it:). Because the second season was a collection of short stories and not the focus of real Full Metal Panic plot the third season, which will soon exist, will be focused on more mechas and anti-terrorist activities. Tolkien did not completelely disregard the epic story of middle earth and suddenly throw all focus towards Fordo's story, instead he concluded with a joining of the two. Neither will the creators of the Full Metal Panic trillogy abandon terrorism, mechas, and hot spring visits. Hence the third season will be more like the first season. I though both series were good and I enjoyed the switch from lethal weapons to lethal comedy.
