View Full Version : Clearing up everything about FMP..
Hey guys,
I've read plenty of stuff about FMP but I want to have things clear. First, FMP is based on the novel version of it, right?
Is the novel version still continuing or has it fully ended?
And about the manga, has the manga ended? I checked on ADV that there are only five volumes of the manga.
Would like some knowledge here, thanks :)

Check post #10 on this thread--extremely informative and non-spoiler now that so much information about both seasons are available.

As far as new novels... I think the lastest one was published on 04/20/2004 under the title of フルメタル・パニック!-サイドアームズ- 音程は哀しく、射程は遠く or Full Metal Panic! -Sidearms- ,,,, and I'm not sure how I'd translate(or that if I understand) what the rest of it means^^;
The Mangas mostly cover the school love comedy and and the comedy portions are known collectively as "Short Editions"; the novels mostly cover the action/military aspects of the franchise while taking some love-comedy on the side. The military-actions are known as "Long Editions."
The fact that the contents of "Long Editions" and "Short Edition" are so different sparked a rumor(joke started by the novelist, Gatoh himself?) that "Gatoh Shoji" is actually two people, one writing for the Love-Comdey and one writing for the military-action :heh:
Oh and anyone who can barely read Japanese needs to check out Gatoh Shoji's official website--any published author who would approve this kind of craziness on his official website has to be certifiably insane :heh: Hunt: Check the "Profile Section" at:

Yeah. Melazoma's right. There's a lot of info on that thread. As for the manga, however, you're thinking about the English. Those, the ADV ones, have only been translated up to volume 5. There's twenty-something in Japan. And there's more than one kind too. A more serious one, a more comedy one, and another one I'm really not sure about.
I actually have my own question:
I started checking out the manga, and I've only been able to find two so far (just at the local B&N).
I just noticed that there were Season 1 and Fumoffu elements interwoven in the same volume. For example, we have the Fumo-Fumo land episode from Season 2 (Fumoffu) right before the Episode where Tessa first shows up in Season 1.
Can anyone tell me whether this is the serious manga, the comedy manga, or something completely new?
Ya Melazoma; I know most of that..
What I'm curious about is.. is the novel/manga still ongoing in Japan? Or has it ended :D

Not sure if it has "ended"--the lastest novel installment--the Sidearms has just been published and who knows? There may be more on the way. Also the lastest novel seems to be a collection of love comedies rather than the action "Long series."
