Hello. I made a little icon for myself to use for my bookmarks and such. I thought I'd share it here in case anyone else wants to use it. AS could even use it as their favicon.ico if they wanted. Here it is, in ICO and PNG formats:

Sweet! I like it muchly. I find it much nicer than the overly stylized "a" that adorns the main site's icon.

Those are great - but question, how do you actually put it on the bookmark, if that makes sense?

If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer, you right-click on the bookmark and choose "properties". Then you click on the "change icon" button and...

Unfortunately I use Opera and it doesn't seem to have any way of choosing a custom icon. :( I've never wanted to do this before, but it bothers me that there is something I can't do with it.

I suppose the word is getting out that Opera is the best browser in existence. If you doubt me, try using opera's mouse gestures. They make everything soooo much easier it is mindblowing, but this is off-topic so let's not continue this conversation.

So far, adding a custom icon to a bookmark is the only thing I've found that Opera doesn't do better than all the other browsers.

Don't you have to pay for the full version of Opera? I just wait for mozilla to copy all of opera's nice features.

Gestures work great in Firefox as well.

Maybe gestures work for you in Firefox. I kept getting irritating error messages every now and then.

I have no "mouse gestures" in my firefox..so, it`s a plugin, right?
What is it good for?

The font is a bit too gray. But apart from that it looks very cool. :)
Why not using this for animesuki? Using
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="pics/alicn.ico">
in the header will display this icon in the url bar and use it automagically for bookmarks. At least in Mozilla (/Firefox) but that's what you should use anyway. ;p

Sorry to butt in to your browser wars, but DocWilco has modified his AS front page (http://animesuki.drwilco.com/) ages ago and given it a favicon. Also notice the small "get firefox" button on the bottom of the page. That should be propagated to the other mirrors too.

That's the same like saying "Designed for Microsoft Internet Explorer". Some people are unable to use browsers other than the ones already in the PC they are using(=Public computers in Net Cafes etc). That's why a page has to be compatible with as many browsers as possible.

As for the icon, I think the file favicon.ico will appear in any page as long as it is present in the root directory of the site: http://www.animesuki.com/favicon.ico Correct me if I'm wrong on this.

Seems to be the case for Firebird. My Mozilla (1.7) seems to require a header tag.

I checked around the opera forums for a way to choose a custom bookmark icon and I found the way. It's rather painless.

Here's a quote from this thread (http://my.opera.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=55185) that should be of help:

In Opera you have to edit the opera6.adr file. Assuming that you have 7.5, all icons are stored in your profile\images directory. Create an icon, save it there, and add in the respective bookmark entry in the opera6.adr file: ICONFILE= (name).ico

Thanks! I'm going to have to use this tip to get rid of that ugly looking V icon that vBulletin uses.
