put it this way...when teaservant1996 puts himself in the shoes of the protagonist, he is not having sex with underage girls, he is having sex with older women. I've got to hand it to the kid, he is the man. :D
But he did say he doesn't play them...
...yet.
At least he knows where his avatars came from :p
edit: teaservant is female... oh my...
edit2: isn't it a rule for many internet forums to be at least 13 years of age due to risk of meeting strange people online?
Sushi-Y, about Narcissu side 2nd...wow just wow...did they hire an artist to do the CGs now? Though it looks lovely, how does this bode for their 'minimalism'?
i am a SHE!!!!! and my sis is guarding me for visiting here...''onee-chan~~~someone is bullying me~~~"
Then teaservant wins for swooning older women and the rest of us win for..... ehem... ;)
This is getting into some bad territory. Ehem.
Anyway, Prism Ark is great! The battle system's simple and easy to get into. I love the characters, and the voice work is quite top-notch. I love how they miskey the BGMs at certain points in the game. :p
Oh yes, and the artwork quality for this game is OVER THE TOP.

she is a teaser, get it straight, ok~! :joke:
maybe i will checkout prizmark but i personally dont like rpg/dating sim combos. i just could never really get into sakura wars even though i have pretty much the whole collection. even games like soul link i dont really enjoy. maybe if they put Hscenes in a metal gear solid remake..... naw :)
its probably beacuse i like more happy or realstic stories with my kisses. Air made me mad, but KGNE did not. its probably because Air focus' on despair no matter how hard you try, where as KGNE you can win!

Prism Ark is huge, though. :( Like 8GB huge. My hard disk cries!
Prism Ark is huge, though. :( Like 8GB huge. My hard disk cries!
It's about 6 gigs. School Days was bigger, at like 8 or 9 gigs.
But School Days was also entirely animated, while Prism Ark isn't. So in that sense, I find Prism Ark much more impressive in a sense. :D
Right now, I'm enjoying the EX patch Type-Moon released for the hanafuda minigame in hollow ataraxia:

FINALLY, a Karen + Little Gil team (+ Lancer aniki as bonus ^^ *love*). Plus Nasu quality story ^^;

By the way, I love Karen's auto-skill:

Oh. I see. I meant the DVD version of Prism Ark, that is, just to be sure. Its around 8GB. ;_; School Days wasn't that big for me, for some reason.
Oh well, whatever! They're both fun games for me. :D Size doesn't count, it's the fun that comes from it (don't take this out of context plz).
Well it terms of fun I'm personally really enjoying Prism Ark.
I'm about 2/3 or 3/4 of the way through Kagura's arc. She's the miko girl.
After the first half, her "condition" reminded me of a certain character in the Touhou series.
EDIT: Kagura
EDIT2: Finished Kagura's arc!! Yaaayy!! I personally quite enjoyed her character.
Meh, the final boss was kinda pathetic. Loads of hitpoints, but weak attacks. His strongest is easily manageable if you keep your party's health up to near-full, which was pathetically easy with Kagura (you and the "heroine" are the only ones who get to fight the bastard) who gets ridiculously good healing capabilities further in the game.
The single hardest guy in the game has to be Darkness Knight. Maaaaan, that guy just pissed me off so many times during the game. "Ankoku Satsu!!" and one of my characters gets killed off with twice his/her hitpoints-worth in damage.
Second hardest has to be Sister Hell. Her Fortis Apis attack is so awesome---except when it's used against you. :eyebrow:
I totally did not expect Darkness Knight to actually be,
the protagonist from the previous game!! LOL!! That fact explained so much about why he was sooooo damn hard to beat in this game!! :heh:
Just noticed that there is a new Eve game coming out soon.
Any idea if it is another remake of an earlier games of the series ?

The mini demo for Narcissu -Side 2nd- that was distributed during Comike70 has been made available for download at Stage Nana:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v97/Sushi-Y/nanavol252.png (http://stage-nana.sakura.ne.jp/)
うむ, いい感じにできている。
The style is very much the same as the previous game. Once again, Kataoka-san has showed off what meaningful writing should be like: you don't just read the words, you actually feel them.
The preview in the end really got me going, I wanna read on~
The theme song "Narcissu", sung by riya, was beautiful. It could've very well been the OP (or ED) for a full-fledged visual novel game.
Kataoka-san mentioned a ponkotsu character is going to show up in the game. I'm looking forward to that. ^^ If we're lucky, we might actually get to hear Gotou-sama's ponkotsu voice here. :heh: (Gotou Yuuko did all the voices for the previous ponkotsu characters in Nekoneko soft's previous games, like Hiyori from Mizuiro and Nanami from Ramune) (ponkotsu voice = think Mikuru voice)
Setsumi-sensei's "tei tei!" also made me laugh. :heh: Her CV, Ayakawa Rino, is also the CV for Katase Yuki, the main heroin of Mizuiro. The "tei tei!" came from there.
======================
The demo was pretty short, I'm sure the guys over at insani will pop out an english translated version soon enough.
For the record, there is indeed a translation of the preview going on, confirmed by Haeleth over in this thread (http://forums.haeleth.net/viewtopic.php?t=859). Can't wait for that.
Also liked how they kept the same music (minus the new vocal song which is great too) and the same letterboxing as the original in the preview. Would've liked to hear some new stuff, sure, but considering I can't actually listen to the original's music without feeling like crap still I'm not bothered; it's got more than enough power left in it. And the letterboxing? Well, that's just Narcissu. Doing it in typical visual novel style (like here (http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/397/narukivs1.jpg)) wouldn't have been quite the same.
Anyway, more Setsumi, no one's complaining :)
Just noticed that there is a new Eve game coming out soon.

http://www.eve-newgene.com
They said "New Generation", but Kojiroh and Marina are still there. :heh:
Anyway, i don't recognize some of the characters. Most likely, it's a new sequel to the EVE saga. How many sequels this saga have now? 7? 8? More?
I think this one is already one of the longest bishojo game sagas ever! ;)

i have a question about the comic party for PC
the aquaplus Comic Party DCE this is the remake of the dreamcast version?
and the leaf Comic Party (Renewal Package) this is the original PC game with the HCG in it? or did they add in the newer characters also?
Update: the Narcissu -Side 2nd- pre-ver translation is done! Get it at Haeleth's site (http://www.haeleth.net/narcissu2/). Pretty short, but should be enough to keep people's expectation's up for the full version.

CP DCE is the Dreamcast port (Mikage added, new scenarios, no ero-scenes)
Renewal package is the original CP with ero-scenes.
I recommend playing the original/renewal version instead~ (´・ω・`)

so i checked out prizm ark, and the limited edition comes with the previous game prizm heart and they have added more scenes to it? is prizm heart also a good game? prizm ark is like 130$ but i didnt see any for sale at himeyashop, what other stores ship internationally that would have it?
himeya shop did have all the music CDs. whats are these special sound packages? are they voice recordings for the characters?
hmmm ive been looking through this entire thing but does anyone know a game that is good to play rather than just click and read with possible H lol.. Possibly something similar to Utawarerumono, but possibly more fun, or possibly with more things that the player could choose.

First of all, it's Prism Ark. It's written in plain letters.
http://www2.pajamas.ne.jp/prismark/index.html
Second, there are no additional contents in the Prism Heart DVD included in the Prism Ark limited edition: you're simply given the chance to get a game that has been long out of print.
Third, you can buy the limited edition at Paletweb (http://www.paletweb.com/) for $109.99. Nobody knows when it'll go out of stock, so buy it fast if you really want it.
As for the sound packages, read this post (http://z4.invisionfree.com/aquastar/index.php?showtopic=2773&view=findpost&p=3708269).

Well Prism Ark does have a pretty good RPG combat system. Think Final Fantasy.
You can equip your character with all kinds of different stuff. Too bad you can't equip the other members of your party, but they're probably best staying as they are. They're all very specialist types and excel at their class, so better keeping them that way.

<==== Kagura from Prism Ark.

Eien no Aselia [Xuse] (Personal favorite~~)
Tenkuu no Sinfonia [F&C] (SLG style gameplay, superb art and story)
Utawarerumono [Leaf]
Galzoo [Alicesoft]
Majokko ala Mode [F&C]
Any game by Eushully, Softhouse Chara, and Studio E.Go!

I'm currently playing 峰深き瀬にたゆたう唄 (Mine fukaki se nitayutau uta) So far I really like how this game is shaping up. A bit straightforward and somewhat difficult (battles can be really annoying if you don't prepare yourself), but still pretty enjoyable.
hmmm does these games lots of options in it?? where you could choose things?? i really hate games where everything is just one way and the player really has no options
o yeah i looked at some.. but i cant find the info of the games for some of them?? do you know where i could look at the info of the gamews??

I assume you're able to understand Japanese, or, at the least, have some understanding of some commonly-used kanjis.
Eien no Aselia, for one, has six possible endings, and more added to it with the expansion, as long as you make the right choices.
yeah i read japanese since i am japanese lol
Oh about Prism Ark:
After you finish it once, play it again. There's new scenes that come up that weren't around the first time.
Ever since the upgrade to 1.01 deleted all my saves, ( ) I finished Priecia's arc and am re-doing Kagura's and I'm getting into this mini-arc with that guy trio (Acti, Ein, and Jung).
Another funny thing is that you start at level 30, and you keep all the equipment you gained during your earlier runs through the game, but the enemies' levels are all at their original levels! In other words, SING THE CURBSTOMP SONG!!! WOOOOO!!! :D
EDIT: New scenes for everyone, actually.
hmmm well the sad thing about prism ark is that from all the sites i wen ti-- iTS SOLD OUT!!!
so about those other games you told me... could you tell me a site for the game and possibly the info of the game??
i dont mind if its in english or japenese (the info) thanks
Hmm... I've got aselia, tomoyo after and Fate Stay night on the top of my list...

If it sounds greatly idiotic, do know that I haven't played it yet...still kicking some space free from my hard drive. >_<;

Probably a good idea to put it off for a bit. I personally am enjoying Prism Ark more than I did with Princess Witches at the moment. :) (But I still have to play Princess Witches to the real conclusion. I think I hit a bad end in that game during my first and only run through it)
I was planning to start with Scarlett when I during cleaning by a chance found 'December when there is no angel' and just had to replay Shinobu's (Hiroko Taguchi http://nekomimi.se/misc/emojis/11.gif ), Asuna's and Yukio's scenarios. That game sure is my favourite from Leaf. Good thing the scenarios are kind of short, so not much wasted time.
for Eien no Aselia.. does the expansion pack actually make the game better?? and also do you need the first package for the expansion package?
last thing lol.. this is also for PC right?

永遠のアセリア EXPANSION is more or less a sequel of Eien no Aselia that follows two of the original heroines, Tokimi and Kyouko. It does not make the original game better, but for fans it's a nice addition to have~ Tokimi <3
Eien no Aselia isn't required to run the expansion, but it does contain numerous plot devices, scenes, and spoilers to the original so it would be best to play that first than to start on the expansion.
This is for the PC version. There is a PS2 version of Eien no Aselia, of course minus ero-scenes, but with more scenarios and CGs.
If you like this game, I recommend trying スピたん Spirits Expedition - In the Phantasmagoria - It has a good s-rpg battle system, but lacks storyline.

yeah i read japanese since i am japanese lol
In that case, you can always go here for reviews and recommendations:
http://erogamescape.dyndns.org/~ap2/ero/toukei_kaiseki/
It's probably the biggest eroge (all-age games too) review/feedback site out there, useful if you want to know what other people think before buying a game.
Argg looks like i am really a laggard hahaha.. didn't know there were so many Bishoujo games out there... =X So far the ones I have played are mostly all the popular ones where the hype about them are too big for japan alone to handle(so it spreads to me hehehe). Oh ya, anybody has any idea whether 0verflow is actually going to do a joint release for school days and summer days??

Spitan, I forgot to mention that. It's great seeing the regular Spirits in Eien no Aselia get the spotlight!
<3 Shia.
Erogamescape is mostly a popularity contest for bishoujo games.
This thread has become so popular lately, or maybe its because of more bilingual people posting. (or more like, bilingual people with excessively huge hard disk space)

How about Tayu Uta? People seem to be saying that it's a great game as well.

I want to play PurpleSoft games translated in english(without the use of any text hookers)!!! *cries very loudly* :upset::upset:

hmm well i looked through lots of games info.... but does anyone know a H-RPG game that has characters that are not kids..... (freaks me out). if i want to play H game, i really want the characters to be a little old (i dont mean like a adult, but al least more older than ones that look like 10 year old kids) im kinda hoping for games with characters that is similar to utawarerumono (at least the girls dont look like 10 year olds) but possibly ones better than it??. Would be nice if the RPG part is fun and somewhat long ( i dont like super short games that could be finished within a hour or so)
i also hope the game has lots of choices the player could choose.

Since no one seems to be answering your questions and you are persistent.. I am honestly not too familiar with the RPG eroge genre. I don't play much of it. I'll point you to the game "Soul Brave", and it's been released in English in North America. I can't point you to sites but I'm sure you can google it to find an online store to purchase it from.
ayyo's website at http://www.makenaidesuwayo.com/
has several reviews of eroge games. You can look through the past history to see previous eroge RPGs and go from there. Hope that helped.

Replayability seems to have been one of Pajamas Soft's main goals with Prism Ark, cause I just started my third run with Fel's arc, and there's even more new stuff going on!
What makes these things even more interesting is that they make it almost seem as if the protagonist, Hyaweh, had gained some sort of pre-knowledge of those things. Like how something used to happen over and over in the first two arcs, so the protagonist then does something that prevents it from happening again in the third.
My first thought upon seeing this happen again was, "Higurashi!" :p
Of course, without the horror and psycho girls.;)
(PS: Onigiri bombs! :heh: )
Wow, it's worth beating those special mokujins. I got "sura's shout" which ups my ATK by a lot, and with another ATK+ spell I managed to take out Sister Hell with a single attack. LOL. :heh:
I'll point you to the game "Soul Brave"
It's "Brave Soul"!

Maybe you should give Leafs Tears to Tiara a shot. It's from the same company as Utware. Most of the charaters, save for one or two have looks matching your preference. There is a playable demo with four levels available as download at Leaf's HP.
And for the record, Scarlett is awesome.
Nekoneko sure left the scene with a bang.
It's "Brave Soul"!
I am getting old.. :upset:
Has anyone here played Soul Link???
Soul Link was a decent game. It suffered from two faults in my opinion...:
1) It was waaay too easy to die in the first third of the game, mostly randomly.
2) Shuhei's idiot brother's romantic escapades didn't really interest me that much in the second third of the game.
Other than that, it gave you a nice warm feeling after beating the game, kinda like the end of Shawshank Redemption.
Could you please give me any spoilers for the endings, as I was wondering how it could end...compared to the anime.
And how was it so hard to stay alive? Just because of what choices you made? This game looks more like a FPS to me from your description :)
If I'm correct, there is no english version, right?

Also, you should just deal with the H-scenes you don't like, because in most h-games you will find plenty H-scenes you wouldn't want to see... But rares are the game that won't have a single scene that doesn't bother you =p
I'm probably the only guy who's really playing Prism Ark on these forums so this might be an unanswerable question, but does anyone know how exactly to pull of team attacks?
I only managed to do it during one fight by sheer accident or coincidence with Priecia and Kagura, and would like to know the exact mechanism as to how to get it to work. (There's combinations for all the characters)

Here's a link to the Team Attack Movelist (http://faxia.web.infoseek.co.jp/game/pajama/prismark/ta.htm)
I haven't played the RPG portion yet, but it seems like team attacks are executed using two characters and their special attacks. For example, Using Hyaweh's レッドホットショット (Red hot shot) and Priecia's レッドホットショット(Red hot shot) you get ハートビートシュート (Heart beat shot) which deals upped phys. damage.

U know guys, I haven found a HGTA(H game turned Anime) that is better than the game... There are those that are good eg, Fate Stay night, Shuffle etc. But they are far from surpassing their game counterparts.

Erm, didn't he say he hasn't found an anime adaptation that is better than the game? So how would watching less and playing more help?
Hmm....
My bad, didn't see the "n" at the end of his misspelling of "Haven't"
Ahh... I saw it as "have" when I read his post the 1st time too. :x

Well, both are different mediums to telling a story so there are obvious strengths and limitations to how well they do. So instead of seeing as direct competition, it's better to see it the anime version as a compliment to the original game~
My fav hgame is Utawarerumono.
this is the only h game that i didnt care about the hcg scenes. The story is simply amazing and the battle system is fun to play with. ;)

I generally like my games to have gameplay, so I'm not really fond of eroge unless there's something for me to do...like obsess over stats!
That being said...
I really liked Quarttet.
And cough, Green Green (Don't mention the anime around me please.)

Depressing, and probably manages to insert sex into the story most naturally, although the sex itself gets kinda... unrealistic at times <_<;

Uhh... Been playing YoakeMae, DCII... stopped though.. Yoake... and I might actually be happy if the anime avoids this... has an excessive (if you are trying to clear routes) amount of food scenes... Too many eating scenes!!!1:eyespin:
Can't stand playing through Yoake anymore lol. Its a pretty game but gah darn eating scenes are annoying. Even if I can skip them, GAH! Stop EATING! :eyespin:
uhmm at the moment.. well been re-reading CLANNAD again.. though that probably doesn't qualify in the catagory here.
One trial version of a game (18+) I looked up recently was realllyyy good... I think its just me but it has a good combination of mystery story, jazz music and pretty art... uhh not sure why it interested me but it hooks me with its music and story mostly... uhh some aspects are kinda afluke but... something really clicks about this work.
I highly suggest taking a look at it, easy demo install (unzip basicly). Its called Pianissimo (http://www.gungnir.co.jp/innocentgrey/products/pro_pianissimo/pp_index.html).
Yesterday I was looking up some of the game to be released this year and stumbled upon ninetail's (http://www.ninetail.afrox.net/) 'Dea EX Machina'. Not that it seems to be any special, but their promo video (http://dl-2.drabbit.net/dl/ninetail/0824_eve_promo_mv.zip) (not completely worksafe) gave me a good laugh. Fun and kind of different.
http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/2269/mccoyuo0.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
I also need some time to try out Caramel Box's Alicematic (http://dl-2.drabbit.net/dl/caramel-box/alicematic_lcm.wmv) (safe clip) demo. I like the art and Hiroko Taguchi also has a role in it as well.
I guess I'll also play some MuvLuv next week once my copies of the all ages versions arrive. If only to see the first one in widescreen goodness and how some of the more shocking scenes from Alt. looks like now.

Eating huh? Didn't imagine that...
Someone once told me that Yoakemae forces you to play through a single path first (Feena's) before you can go after the girls. How's that?
I guess that does make the eroge-to-show transition easier... linear plotlines...:heh:

Yea... Its pretty linear.. Nothing changes at all in Feena route. Need to play through again in the sense of chosing answers for girls to get different things, before clearing Feena though none of the choices matter... lol
Get enough flags for so and so and after last choice available its a linear dive toward "concluding story" and "ending". You can skip and all, but try not to lose a save... lol... I lost mine once and had to go through the first part manually twice over... and damn watching people yap yap yap about eating and whats for breakfast/dinner is torturous. lol :eyespin:

Well, that's how it usually is in eroge titles like yoake. I actually like everyday peaceful scenes like that and August-soft games have an impressive knack for this~~ (゚∀゚)ノ
I just found something interesting; Softhouse mini (http://www.qmax.co.nz/) actually offers international sales (http://www.qmax.co.nz/mini/MAIL%20ORDER/MAIL%20ORDER.htm) from their homepage with payment through Paypal. Price - $80, EMS shipping included. If you were to buy Natsukashi from Himeya that would cost you $117...
Too bad I'm not really interested in their games (since I would like to support this), but I would like seeing other softhouses considering doing the same.
Or maybe I'm not up to date and there are already other softhouses doing it.
.nz? New Zealand?
What's up with Japanese eroge companies and their using foreign domain names?
(Yes, I'm looking at you too, minori.ph!)
Dont forget selen.ag.

But Sengoku Rance (http://www.alicesoft.com/rance7/) looks better if Alicesoft manage to incoperate elements of Nobunaga's Ambition into it.

Alicesoft have put up one of their old classic, Kichikuou Rance, up for free legal download via BT.

There's some others too on the annoucement Page :-

Quite a lot of titles, but I don't see any BT seeds for now.
It's nice to see them giving some of their old games for free. I hope other oldies that's still around will do the same here. Namely Elf. It's about time that we see some obscure old stuffs like Dokyuusei 1 & 2, Kakyuusei 1 and Yuno will recieve a new lease of life via free download.

And why? Mine are Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien,Kisaku,And Comic Party. The reaons why I like them are simple:I like Kimi ga Nozomu Eien the game because I loved the touching story. And I liked the sad atmosphere around it as well. The H scenes aren't too bad. And I liked some of the side storys in the game too.For Kisaku its because the games Mini games are fun to play sometimes.I like the characters. And I like the main character he may be a nasty old man but his character is pretty funny sometimes. And the game overall is pretty funny.(Even some of the H scenes made me laugh.) And as for Comic Party I like it because its entertaining,Its pretty hard at first if you don't know Japanese very well. And I found the storys behind each character were touching, funny or sweet. What about you guys?
Hentai? I don't think I played Hentai before

You can borrow an installation disk from one of your friends, all you need is a couple of files from the I386 folder...(if you are using XP that is...) Although I doubt it may be a problem with cracked version of games rather than an issue of language setting.
I copied the I386 folder on to my hard disk, so I can change between japanese and english non-unicode easily every now and then.
Oh, by the way, talking about illegal download is prohibited on this forum. So be careful about that.

Are Memories Off any good btw?
Finished four out of I think seven arcs in Prism Ark and the game is a lot, lot better than I expected it to be. It's quite good.
Wouldn't make a good game-to-anime conversion though, since the "main heroine"'s arc is the weakest of them all. Every subsequent arc after hers is much, much better. :p
You have to play through all of them, however, if you want the whole picture. Every arc adds to the whole experience.

Are Memories Off any good btw?
There are, in total, five games in the memories off series, with a few spinoffs as well.
Memories off (1999)
You play the game from the standpoint of a second-year high school student. Three years ago on a rainy day, your beloved girl friend died in a tragic car accident when she was trying to bring you an umbrella. Another autumn came and you meet different girls in school. Would you move on and start a new life? Or would you rather live forever in memories? Rain, will it ever stop…
As you can see from kj1980’s post on “a history of erogames”, memories off, alone with kana little sister, snow, DC da capo, wind a breath of heart, are all major hit games that were very much influenced by KEY’s crying formula. This is the introduction of ONE by kj1980:
---------------------------------------------------
ONE ~kagayaku kisetsu e~ (1998)
You play the role of a high school students named Sasaori Kouhei, who on the surface is enjoying high school life by meeting several girls. But deep within in his inner self, you yearn to spend an eternity with your sister, who died several years ago - one in which you blame yourself for her death.
---------------------------------------------------
You see the parallels here? XD
Memories off 2nd (2001)
This time, you play the role of a third-year high school student. You have just started a relationship with a cute girl half a year ago and created precious memories together. At the same time, you meet a number of new girls. What would you do? Who will you choose?
Yes you have sensed it: it’s a typical love triangle story, and sometimes love quadrangle! (I know I’m going to be bashed for this crappy introduction)
Memories off ~ you who changed to memory (2002) (don’t blame me for the translation, Google did it…)
You are a university student in this game. Because of the change in character designer and scenario writer, a lot of fans of this series don’t like this game. I won’t comment on it, as I never played this game. Since one of my favourite scenario writers wasn’t involved in this project (who worked for memories off, memories off 2nd, never 7, ever 17, remember 11, and eve 5 to date), I lost interest in all subsequent memories off games.
Memories off ~ then (2004)
The setting of this game is extremely similar to memories off 2nd. And again, I don’t know too much about it.
Memories off #5 ~ the film which broke off (2005)
You have the dream of becoming a filmmaker. But your best friend who shared the same dream died in an accident. Along came a girl who wishes to make film with you together, but could she be the murder of your best friend?
There are several spinoffs as well. Pure, festa, after rain, then again, to name a few.
Personally, I give memories off and memories off 2nd an “““A””” rating. But compared to what I consider to be “””S””” class, e.g. KID’s EVER 17, KEY’s KANON, LEAF’s COMIC PARTY, DO’s THE FAMILY PROJECT, AGE’s MUVLUV, NEKONEKO’s GINIRO, CIRCUS’s SUIKA, memories off has plenty of room for improvement.
And according to all those reviews I have seen over the years, memories off 3 rates some where around """C""", memories off 4 rates """B+""" and memories off 5 rates """B"""

ぽっと -Rondo for Dears-
I fell in love with the character designs on first sight, expecially Asuha <3. While Ankh games have never made a solid impression on me (natsu natsu), Potto looks to be a good production.
http://img255.imageshack.us/img255/492/c268425packagets8.jpg
魔法、ひとつくださいな (Mahou, hitotsu kudasai na)
Fairly interesting storyline involving magic. The main character comes from a lineage of famous magicians, though he himself sucks at it. (Louise from ZnT? Kazuki from Maburaho?) I seem to be drawn to these type of settings lately ^^;;

PP - Pianissimo
Looks to be a outstanding suspense thriller from the main web intro. Innocent Gray's previous title Cartagra (カルタグラ) is one of the best suspense/murder/thrillers games I've ever played. I have high expectations for this one~ Definately check it out into it of you like murder mysteries!

The highly anticipated Balder Bullet Remake. No description needed. They revamped the ADV portion of the original game, the ACT portion has met with mixed reviews though...
http://img85.imageshack.us/img85/5351/c249705packageek0.jpg
Silvery White ~君と出逢った理由~
Excellent art and character models. The box art just screams buy me ^^;; The storyline looks fairly standard, but with a few twists involving legend/myths and mysterious powers. Reminds me of the 舞-HiME game.

There don't seem to be any new game released in english though... :(Well, if you're talking about major productions from noteworthy companies (i.e. the types of games that get animated), the amount that get released in English each year (commercially or otherwise) is at or pretty near zero. And even if you broaden your scope to include any ero-game/visual novel releases of any kind (including those where story is decidedly less of a focus), you'd still be lucky if there were one a month (if that). So yeah... basically, until the English market really increases significantly, I think that's simply the way it'll be. And if the abysmal sales at Hirameki are any indicator, it looks like it'll be that way for a while. As usual, the answer is to keep brushing up on your Japanese...

いな☆こい! (Ina☆koi!)
Played the demo and loved it! Excellent art and overall production, especially the OP~ (< grab it here > (http://whirlpool.co.jp/inakoi/inakoi_dl.htm)) The basis of the story looks like your standard school life scenario, but with a bit of an twist involving goddesses (kitsunemimi <3). Sudden cohabitation with a goddess? Only in bishoujo games! ( ´ー`)b

こんな娘がいたら (abbrev. Conboku)
Conbuku is very different from the games Akabeesoft has made in the past. Their last game, Sharin no Kuni, Himawari no Shoujo is a masterpiece in scriptwriting, rivalling Key in terms of story and character depth. Hopefully the dialogue and script in Conboku will match their previous works (despite following the more standard fare bishoujo style). I have faith though since Akabeesoft rarely ever dissapoints~ ^^

I'm waiting for the Wind patch as well. I even brought the damn game in Japanese...and all I can understand is "konnichi wa"(well, maybe a bit more, but it doesn't make any difference).
As usual, the answer is to keep brushing up on your Japanese...
No, the answer is to spread awareness of the genre. Sales aren't going to rise out of nowhere.
I even brought the damn game
I don't understand why people feel the need to insert an r into the word BOUGHT.
PP - Pianissimo
2 round end
I'll try to guess what that means... You cleared the game once, but it was too painful to go through it a second time (for scene/CG collection), so you had to give up... どう?当たってるかな
I played the demo for it and fell in love with the atmosphere (which is something innocent grey is great at, apparantly). I suppose its story might be a possible weakness, which would be fatal for a suspense thriller. Hopefully it can pass my standard.
==========================
For the sake of getting some feedback, I'll paste on a mini review I wrote on ef over at Aquastar.
ef -First Fan Disk- (http://www.minori.ph/lineup/ef/index.html)
First of all, this is only a "preview" version of the full game, ef - a fairy tale of the two (which wil be released in two installments, as ef - the first tale and ef - the latter tale). The -First Fan Disk- package includes various bonus goods, such as setting booklets and comics, as well as the main game disk.
The game itself was short (after all, it's only a "preview" of the actual game, the first of which will be released in December), and I mean short. No matter how slow of a reader you are, you'll get through this in less than an hour. Most eroge demos are longer than that. ^^;
Considering that this was only meant to give the gamers "a taste" of what the full game will be like, I'd say minori did a very good job. However, for such a short "game", the 2,500 yen price tag does seem a little expensive, even with the bonus goods.
First of all, and most importantly, the game has amazing visuals. Not only are the CGs beautiful, there are plenty of movements too: eye blinks and mouth movements are a standard, and plenty of variations in character portraits.
One thing minori mentioned in an interview is that they wanted to break the traditional image of a visual novel where a character is usually presented as a tachie (立ち絵, a standing portrait) on screen, placed over the same background image that gets reused all the time. Only once in a while does an original image appear as an "event CG".
Instead, they wanted to go for a game where the visuals remain fresh (as opposed to seeing the same portraits over the same backgrounds over and over again) through methods such as manipulating the camera viewpoint/angles and creating art variations that's unique to every scene. By doing this, minori is hoping to give the game a "cinamatic" feel, as if it's like watching a movie.
http://img241.imageshack.us/img241/6562/untitled2yo2.th.jpg (http://img241.imageshack.us/my.php?image=untitled2yo2.jpg) http://img170.imageshack.us/img170/8812/untitled3rq8.th.jpg (http://img170.imageshack.us/my.php?image=untitled3rq8.jpg)
The results are quite impressive, even regular talk scenes appeared to look like special events, even though it's really just the result of unique placement of camera viewpoints and character portraits over background images that may change to reflect interactions from the characters.

Not only are the screenplays unique, the characters show quite a bit of animated movements too for a visual novel (eye blinks, mouth movements, occasional body movements). For talking scenes (like the church scene with Yuuko above), you can be tricked into thinking you're watching a super-high quality anime. ^^;
While I'm on the topic of quality, let's talk about the art. Having an innovative idea for visual presentation is great, but the art has to look good too. As you can see from the screenshots, there's no need to worry about that either. The "completion level" (the amount of details placed into the art by an artist before it's declared "done") for the arts in this game is very high. You can't complain with Nanao Naru-san as the character arts/designer either. As for backgrounds, well, I'll let them speak for themselves.
http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/884/untitled4zr5.th.jpg (http://img142.imageshack.us/my.php?image=untitled4zr5.jpg) http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/7610/untitled7gk5.th.jpg (http://img80.imageshack.us/my.php?image=untitled7gk5.jpg)
The background scenaries give off quite a strong European look, but some parts are quite Japanese-ish too. It's quite an interesting blend.
As for the sound department, the character voices are all very fitting of their image. Yuuko's cheerful voice was a little surprising at first, because I didn't expect her to be such a bright type, but it felt just right after a while.
The music is the usual blend of instruments, the "daily life" category of tracks are all nicely paced and soothing to the ears. The piano tracks aren't bad either. The violin track in the end was a nice surprise too.
Finally, the all-important story. Honestly, there's not enough here for me to judge yet. After all, this is more like an introductory disk where the main characters from the first arc of the game make their appearances. I got through this in 30 minutes, and nothing spectacular happened in particular.
I will admit though, the concept is very interesting: different main characters with either stories occuring during different episodes, yet, all of them are connected to each other in some ways, ultimating weaving them all together into one single tale. Main characters from one episode may become supporting characters in another episode, while people they're related to one way or another become main character themselves. I suppose what minori is trying to do with ef is to demonstrate the complexity and intricacies of human relationships, not unlike some western TV dramas, I suppose. ^^;
Anyway, that's that. The game has already proven itself worthy in the visual and sound department. If the story is actually any good, then we might have a winner in our hands (provided they can maintain this kind of visual quality throughout the game, which will be hard).
ef -the first tale- will be out in 2 months, I look forward to it. ^^
I don't understand why people feel the need to insert an r into the word BOUGHT.
Sorry, it's a typo. It's not like the world has ended... :(

Looks really good. Backgrounds may even give Prism Ark a run for its money.

I played the demo for it and fell in love with the atmosphere (which is something innocent grey is great at, apparantly). I suppose its story might be a possible weakness, which would be fatal for a suspense thriller. Hopefully it can pass my standard.

Ohhhh yeah same for me Pianoissmo is just something that drew me in so well. And yeah... something about ending the demo on a gorey cliffhanger was making me go huh? :eyespin:
Yes... I await ef too ;-; so well done. I remember I read a review that actually... complained that due to the approach taken, they basically bonked the CG mode from the game lol. Pretty sure its not available in the trial right?

いな☆こい!
Any relation to Utawarerumono? Because that blue haired girl looks a lot like Eruruu or Aruruu, heh.
Well, I might try the demo.

There still are event CGs, but they may not be as noticeable since minori went to great lengths to make every scene look like an unique event. And since the characters are still animated (eye/mouth movement) even during these special CG events, you might not realize you're looking at an "event CG" at all.
http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/2712/untitled8je1.th.jpg (http://img179.imageshack.us/my.php?image=untitled8je1.jpg) http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/8303/untitled9zu2.th.jpg (http://img179.imageshack.us/my.php?image=untitled9zu2.jpg)
(Event "CGs"?)
Also, there is a "memories" option in the main menu, but it's not selectable.
For what it's worth, all the game mags that did coverages on the game listed it as having a CG mode, so who knows, maybe -the first tale- will have it.

That's the new fandisc coming out on 12/22. There's four different mini scenarios to play through for the most popular characters from their games.
Yume and Otome from DCII
Kotori from DCI
Sae from Kujiura
Yomi from Sukumizu 2
*reads through the synopsis* And yes, there's more ero content ^^;;

Hm, just sort of throwing this around, but is anybody else also playing Tenku no Sinfonia 1, or 2? Just got it and it seems to be great, though I've heard a lot of people say that the differences in difficulty between the two is huge.
Also managed to get Relict 1 and 2. Wow, I'm gonna be busy with eroges with SRPG style combat. XD
Hurrah, more interesting posts by Sushi and Cloudnine. That ef game looks gorgeous >_>
Anyway, just a couple of questions for those of you here who have played Prism Ark through (which appears to be a few at least) and feel like answering... how many battles are there actually? Just curious how much it focuses on them or if they're just an occasional side thing. After getting hold of the second OP on DivX Stage 6 (the song is love, btw), and hearing more and more good things about it I'm reeeally starting to want it now >_> Also, how's the writing in terms of complexity between 'not that difficult' and 'kanji chains of doom'?
Finally, anyone know if the Amazon JP listed cover (not worksafe) (http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/4661/coverfv3.jpg) for the regular edition... well, is the cover for the regular edition? Cus that's so blatant :(

That's the walkthrough. Scroll down. Do you see those hyperlinks? Those are links to mini-sections that, I believe, give you hints how to beat the corresponding battles. From the number of links you can get a general idea how many battles there are.
And the writing complexity isn't difficult.
Do note that the last chapters of each character have little to no choices; you're set on that character's main story path. Doesn't mean they're short.

Katahane (カタハネ) (http://tarte.deal.co.jp/products/katahane/katahane.html) (11/22/06)
http://img183.imageshack.us/img183/3018/c220453packagekp4.jpg
Probably like many others, I was drawn to this game by Fue-san's art. The drawings are refined and neat, it makes them really a pleasure to look at.
Now then, the game is, I suppose, what you would call a "group drama", almost like a play. In other words, the player's view isn't restricted to one single "protagonist", instead, the viewpoint shifts from character to character as the story progresses along, much like a play.
The story is split into two major portions, Shirohane (シロハネ) and Kurohane (クロハネ). Shirohane makes up the majority of the game, taking place in "present time" while Kurohane tells of a historical tale that happened "in the past" (relative to Shirohane).
In Shirohane, the story revolves around Wakaba and her friends on a journey to find actors who would act in a play that Wakaba's in the middle of writing. The play is based on a famous historical tragedy called "Angel's Guidance". However, in Wakaba's hands, the play was completely rewritten to have a happy ending. Despite the play being incomplete and modified silly, Wakaba still managed to find some people who are willing to act in her play. The story of Shirohane focuses on Wakaba's quest to recruit enough actors for her play, and to successfully carry her play out.
Kurohane, on the other hand, is tale of the past that tells of a tragic story of a princess and those around her. Kurohane is the historical truth behind the tale of "Angel's Guidance", and the event that Wakaba's play will be based on.
Tarte (the game's creator) was generous (bold?) enough to release the entirely of Kurohane (total of 11 chapters) on their website as their trial version. And this is what this post will be mostly about.
http://img109.imageshack.us/img109/627/12463125251249512493062418010263761126085182617833 209ue4.th.jpg (http://img109.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1246312525124951249306241801026376112 6085182617833209ue4.jpg) http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/2795/12463125251249512493062418010263761126085202617800 209mv3.th.jpg (http://img253.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1246312525124951249306241801026376112 6085202617800209mv3.jpg)
The story of Kurohane itself is very much like a play, the premise is quite simple, and the development, although nicely done, can be predictable (not to say there weren't surprises though). The stage and cast is limited, which isn't really a problem if you think of Kurohane as a theatrical play.
I won't go into details about the plot, but to quickly describe it, it's a story that takes place in the country of White, where Coco, a doll from the country of Blue, and Efa, a doll from the country of Red, arrived to assist Christina, the princess of the country of White, in a theatrical play called "Angel's Wing Flap".
However, little did anyone know at the time that there are certain forces from Red and Blue conspiring to use this play as a chance to create conflict between the 3 nations, and to ultimately spark a war...

Character-wise, I'm pretty satisified with how they're portrayed. Christina is very much a stereotypical princess, you could say her innocent selfishness is part of the cause for the tragedy.
Efa is, well, kawaii~ :heh: A national treasure from the country of Red, Efa is a highly sophisticated doll lent to the country of White for the upcoming play.
Coco is absolutely adorable. Although she's not a high-class doll like Efa, her personality will melt your heart. ^^ I loved her in every single scene.
Dua and Ein is a great pair together. To be honest, their development was probably the biggest tragedy for me in Kurohane, especially considering Dua was my favorite character in Kurohane.

Like I said earlier, the story can be a little predictable at times, but only in terms of "what", not "how": you know what's going to happen next, but you have no idea how it'll affect the story. For some, this "scripted play" feel is still enough to be a turn off, but considering Kurohane is supposed to be a historical drama to begin with, I don't find it to be a problem at all.
The love between Christina and Efa is also another "significant" development in Kurohane. I don't consider myself a yuri fan, but I swear, these two managed to make me totally ballistic.

The music was, in one word, great. Since Kurohane is a generally dark and serious story, the tracks are mostly a collection of piano and violin arrangements with a classical touch (plus some "battle music" too ^^; ). I'm sure Shirohane, the "main" part of the game, will feature even more upbeat tracks.
Well, I think that's enough screenshots. Voice is not included in the downloadable Kurohane (which would probably make the file size huge), but the final game will be fully voiced (male+female cast).
It's also quite fun to read through the list of characters in Shirohane (http://tarte.deal.co.jp/products/katahane/shirohane/chara.html) and Kurohane (http://tarte.deal.co.jp/products/katahane/kurohane/chara.html) just for their profiles.
My current favorite is Silvia-neesan (Shirohane) (guess who's playing Dua? ^^; )

Oh yeah, this is an eroge, apparantly.:heh:
So is it a kinetic novel?
btw, if you haven't noticed, I don't play that much ero-games as I used to nowadays... I guess I'm just getting too old. The point has come where I have over a hundred ero-games that I haven't played yet stacked right next to my computer, which (if I bought it at the actual retail price, which I never do) amounts to over 880,000 yen. Reality has finally hit upon me that for the same price, I could've gone to Guam, Saipan, Hawaii, and Tahiti, AND still have money left over. ...And realizing that, I decided to sell these games to a used game store for 1/4~1/2 the price (I was actually surprised some would actually take it for 5,000 yen for the premium, but) and recuperated 65% of the money that I wasted. Lesson learned, I'm gonna use that to go to Guam.
So, I have taken a break on buying ero-games unless I know it is really great (i.e.: amount of doujin groups doing doujinshis of that ero-game at Comike)
Sure I may see bunch of ef posters in and around Akihabara...but I'm still not tempted to buy it...despite it being drawn by Nanao Naru. Let katatsuki release Sacchin's scenario on their remake of Tsukihime, and I'll definitely buy.
So...what's the next big thing after "Fate" and "Higurashi"? I haven't seen it yet.
Fate's coming to PS2 with some new content, isn't it?
What Typemoon's next big thing is...... it's a mystery.

That is if the DVD weren't so chock full of dummy data so as to push it onto a DVD9 which I don't even think I can burn let alone read. Although this is a new computer now that I think of it. In Lieu I am playing Diablo. Or Rather Tayu Uta by Eushully.
Edit: Hey cool this DVD-Drive does support everything up to but not including Blu-Ray and HD-DVD. I love it when my computer crashes because I always make a killing on the next one and its always free.
btw, if you haven't noticed, I don't play that much ero-games as I used to nowadays...
880-... (゜Д ゜;)
Well, I'm glad you made your decision. It's true that these kind of games are meant to stimulate your attention (and spending urge), even though you might not actually have the time/motivation to play through them. But a tsumige- library of that size is just...
For me personally, running across a game that I consider to be "interesting/worth buying" is a rare thing that probably only happens once every few months. And not living in Japan means no impulse buys either. Besides, if I had to buy something out of impulse, then it's probably not worth it.
The next big thing? Maybe that next TYPE-MOON game that Nasu and Takeuchi-san mentioned in the latest interview with Dengeki G's? Ryukushi07-san's next project that he's starting on after the Higurashi disk planned for C71? Who knows. Even the most successful games from other top companies don't have the level of widespread popularity and support that Fate/stay night and Higurashi got (except maybe Key's games, partly thanks to Kyoani) (even then, the population is far more limited compared to Fate and Higurashi's fanbase).
For me, the next big thing would be Key's "Little Busters" (I buy Dengeki G's every month just for the SS and 4-koma comcis). Will it send shockwaves through the community? Probably no more than CLANNAD did, but that's fine with me. I don't need my games to be social phenomenons before I buy them.

Fate's coming to PS2 with some new content, isn't it?*nods*
The deal breaker for me is full voicing using the majority of the anime cast. There are some extra events/CGs (I bet there will be a Sakura date event in HF :3), other than that, it should be the same game.
Katahane (カタハネ) (http://tarte.deal.co.jp/products/katahane/katahane.html) (11/22/06)
I love Tarte games ever since Hinatabokko (ひなたぼっこ). Their character designs always slightly differ from the norm, which is refreshing and equally interesting at the same time.
I have to admit, the art in Katahane looks magnificent. I get a very "cinematic" feel from the demo, especially with the widescreen CGs and overemphasis in lighting and effects.
umuu... release date is coming soon~ and it's near the new console release date as well... (difficult choice indeed)

Hello I'm new here. I'm also new to the visual novel genre. Actually one of the reasons I signed up here is because it after weeks of lurking and 'stealing' tips from here, I guess it's only appropriate to register to say thank you and hopefully I can get more assistance from time to time. Thank you.
I'm also glad that there are so many visual novel fans here. The following visual novels are the ones that I have played.
Kana~ Little Sister ( My introduction to the B-Game genre )
Crescendo ( Simplying amazing, excellent translation and story-telling )
Private Nurse ( Poignant, completed but still far from getting 100 %)
Narcissus & Narcissus side 2nd demo ( Not eroge still a good read )
Secret Wives Club ( Deleted the game half way through cos more sex less story)
Out of these Crescendo would be my favourite. Ayame's and Kyoko's paths are favourite for reasons best not mention here, especially Ayame's
Sorry if off topic but one B- game I would really like to try is Tenshi no Inai 12-gatsu if it ever got translated. I read that the game it self has a very depressing atmosphere and has some sad endings. I asked around some where before whether using a program that could translate the Japanese text to English would be appropriate for some one who has no knowledge in the Japanese language. But the answers were discouraging and I gave up on the idea. So if it is not too much to ask, could some one please direct me to a site where could explain the story of the game in some detail in English please? Sounds really interesting, the story that is. Thanks again in advance.

Hello I'm new here. I'm also new to the visual novel genre. ...
Glad to meet someone who is also new ^^ As a person who is still struggling with CLANNAD and GINIRO, all the talks about newest games like prism ark and ef here made me feel out of the place sometimes... :heh: , well, enough rambling…
Below is my personal interpretation…(I know it’s bad)
December when there is no angel is LEAF’s experimental work. The protagonist is a high school student, who has confusion and emptiness typical of young age, but a bit extreme maybe. Then he meets a few girls, who is *surprisingly* same as him, or even worse mentally. And essentially, they use H to fulfil this emptiness,
What is life?
What is sex?
Beside sex, is there anything else between us?
And the end you may see a light, however dim. The scenario writer didn’t solve any practical problems for these youngsters. He just presented it, in the name of sympathy.
Perhaps from the above paragraph you can deduce: there is a lot of H in this game. The game’s value is highly controversial. Some even say it’s rubbish.
And you are right, perhaps the best part of this game is the grey atmosphere. On the surface it is the beautiful CG by LEAF’s artists, but you can sense the forever depression underneath. (I know it’s a VERY BAD example, but I will say it’s along the lines of Narcissu)
-------------------------------------------------
Sorry I didn’t know any english reviews or sites of this game, maybe someone else could help?
The probability of a translation being done is very small. As I said it was highly controversial and had a lot of erotic reference. The theme was a bit negative also. But on the plus side, its length is medium, maybe some good hearted translator will pick it up? ^^
-------------------------------------------------
On a side note, If you like tear-jerking stories (rather than overall depressing ones like 12-gatsu). I highly recommend giniro. It’s written by narcissu’s author a few years back (at least for the first chapter). Newlife anime’s patch has dropped out of the edge of internet, but agilis did the novelisation of 1st chapter (which is a complete medium length story by itself). Go here: http://neechin.net , click on the FILES to find out more XD
And you haven’t tried any of plantarian, ever17, phantom of inferno and hourglass of summer yet? They are available in English you know.

I was wondering why anyone hasn't posted anything about this one yet. Maybe because it's not that great a game compared to the ones posted before... but as a fan of the series, might as well break the ice about it.

More girls for good ol' Takaaki to push down... err, befriend. ;)
Seems like they're really going for the sequel-sequel approach. Also seems to include a whole new slew of winnable girls. Maryan-sempai and a new girl named Harumi (bottom right) as well.
Now, I'd wish they would do the same for D.C. II.
Actually, it was mentioned in the New Announced Anime thread and the To Heart 2 the anime thread.
Here is a more complete version of that magazine article.

So wait, the HMX girls are really winnable this time around?

idk, ilfa was pretty winnable in the previous game :heh:
but i didnt like them mushing it in with the twins story line. hopefully the ending will stay seperate from other characters this time.
The deal breaker for me is full voicing using the majority of the anime cast. There are some extra events/CGs (I bet there will be a Sakura date event in HF :3), other than that, it should be the same game.
I bet there won't be one. :heh: Especially considering that there are many jokes in the community about how Sakura was the only one who didn't get a date with Shirou in the game (which is why she turned black ^^; ). It has become a kind of "iron tradition" (just like a Sacchin/Ilya/Fuji-nee scenario).
Besides, she got her date in hollow ataraxia (kinda :heh: ).
I have to admit, the art in Katahane looks magnificent. I get a very "cinematic" feel from the demo, especially with the widescreen CGs and overemphasis in lighting and effects.
The art is very pretty indeed. Although regular talk scenes appears to be limited to one character on the screen at a time (reminds me of Scarlette), which feels a little lonely sometimes.
I liked Kurohane, I just hope Shirohane won't disappoint either.
I'm working through my "pile" so I can be mentally prepared for Little Busters. lol... :eyespin:
Judging from the official site's current state, I'm guessing it'll be another year or so before a possible release, so there's no need to worry about it now.
i want to buy the fate remake but do u think they will re-release it on PC?
That'd make it a reverse-port, which is very unlikely.
On a side note, If you like tear-jerking stories (rather than overall depressing ones like 12-gatsu). I highly recommend giniro. It’s written by narcissu’s author a few years back (at least for the first chapter).
Giniro is a good game, the nameless girl's (Ayame) story certainly was quite a tear-jerker (so was Sagiri's story...). All of Nekoneko's games were quite good, really. When it comes to sad/melancholic scenarios, Kataoka-san's right up there with Maeda-san. (Those of you who played Narcissu will have an idea)

luckyovermind thanks for your insight on 'December when there is no angel'. It's good enough for me. Personally I don't really care for the H- scenes, but more interested in the underlying stories/tones the games convey. Crescendo is a fine example where the game could also be enjoyable without the H -scenes. Well, all you did is further deepen my curiosity about the game...^_^
Thanks for the heads up on geniro too. That I shall check out soon later. Anyways wallet a bit tight and lacking in hard drive space so will not be getting any new B - Games any time soon. Thanks again luckyovermind...^_^

In DWTINA, H is somewhat essential and ties strongly to the story. One of the most prevalent comment on the erogamescape is that "you wouldn't want to recommend this game to normal people", and "this is truly an 18-kin game". But it appears that you are already addicted to it, good luck then :heh:
Gin'iro - Gin = silver and iro = color. The link I gave you points to the novelisation. which means you are not required to have the game. That being said, it helps to have the game in hand, as the viewpoint tends to jump around a bit. CGs and music help a lot too. (just look at my avatar and sig, she's so cute :o ) However, it's pretty hard to get this game nowadays, I myself had a very hard time finding it. If you search for NNS' old games like giniro and mizuiro on himeyashop, it generally returns no result :(
KID's Ever 17 (hirameki) is a good game, no H and very cheap too (compared to others). Basically the best visual novel in english imo
Sengoku Rance (http://www.alicesoft.com/rance7/download.html) is here, and here to conquer.
They released a demo trailer finally, and god, it's awesome.
I'm gearing up for a WAR.
Haven't been this pumped for an Alicesoft title since... since... well, the last Rance. :D
No ecchi-scenes in the movie, btw. Just blood-pumping excitement.
This is the big hitter of 2006 holiday season for sure.

I was surprised that Neechin was getting visitors since that almost never happens, so just doing a drive-by register'n'hello.
I'm happy that you get a sense of the beauty of Kataoka's writing. I spent countless hours reworking things until I settled into some semblence of a style that I felt satisfied my personal sense of the aesthetic in the original text. It took a fair amount of stretching standard American English a bit to do it I think, but I'm happy it worked even a little. I still go back when I have tiny bits of free time to rework things.
Anyways, the Gin'iro chapter 1 released on neechin is a bit old, it's 99.9% the same as the one I'm still working on for the project, but I think I tweaked a few sentences and lots of footnotes that I've since found awkward. The biggest change however, is the released version was from back when I was writing in MS Word and RTF. (yeah yeah =P) The new version was redone in LaTeX, so it's typeset far better now.
Anyways, thanks to anyone who read it, and I'd really love critical comments to help improve the thing as I go along. email agi.projectmail@gmail.com if you want to get in touch with me.
Now if only I had free time to do more than a few short new lines a month >_<.

So, I have taken a break on buying ero-games unless I know it is really great.
So...what's the next big thing after "Fate" and "Higurashi"? I haven't seen it yet.
Not much interesting to me has come out since Muvluv Alt and Scarlett. And, with long-established houses like F&C, Overflow and Leaf releasing kusoge- "land mines" of various types like Pia Carrot GO, Summer Days and Full Ani as part of some kind of NHK anti-otaku "conspiracy" to discourage bishoujo gaming, your tireless campaigning for Higurashi has been most welcome! I thought Higurashi was just some horror game (Uso da!), but thanks to all the info you've posted, I see that it's the latest in the long line of fix-the-broken-reality stories like Chrono Trigger/Cross, Air, Cross Channel, etc. Which makes it more interesting to me than any ero-game released this year.
But, in addition to the above "conspiracy" of mediocre games and endless fandisks this year, unfortunately for North American importers, I read that Lik-Sang has been shut down by Sony. That, after Amazon Japan had really strangled their exportable products listings to the extent that Amazon is nearly useless to import manga/anime/game/figure fans ("no export of Pinky St figures"? WTF?). It seems there are many more killjoys trying to eliminate foreign interest in Japanese products, even as KyoAni series like Air and Suzumiya Haruhi go unlicensed. No Japanese television station is yet legitimately available to American cable and satellite subscribers despite a crackdown on "pirated" YouTube uploads. The chances that non-Japanese gamers will ever see "moe~ games (Kanon, Kiminozo, Fate and Higurashi) make it in the U.S." has now dropped below even the lowered expectations indicated by sales of the English Crescendo and Ever 17.
If the other importers are also shut down so that I can't buy future Japanese game releases like Espgaluda 2, Pink Sweets, Shikigami no Shiro 3 and Little Busters... Pardon me while I go listen to my melancholy imported Air and Kiminozo game soundtrack albums and reminisce about happier times...

Wow it's great to see that my first real topic is still getting posts.^_^ Anyway as for me there really hasen't been much for me with recent Ero-games that I've found were interesting enough for me to spend my time on, but thats fine by me because I'm more of a fan of past ero-games anyway.
Speaking of past ero-games after a few months of putting it off I just completed Pia Carrot GO the other day and here I am finding out that it was a kusoge??? What was so wrong with Pia Carrot GO that made it receive this label? I mean sure the overall character artwork in that installment was a bit lacking compared to the previous installments, and it was alot longer and had much more winnable characters than previous installments(I can understand that with the length combined with the amount of winnable characters can make the game become EXTREMELY repetitive to some....), but looking past the artwork and being patient towards the rest of its "flaws(?)" I actually enjoyed the game. Don't tell me it received that label because Japanese consumers didn't have the PATIENCE for it...
But, in addition to the above "conspiracy" of mediocre games and endless fandisks this year, unfortunately for North American importers, I read that Lik-Sang has been shut down by Sony. Say what?? I heard about the sony shutting down Lik-Sang but that didn't bother me that much because I wasn't one of their customers to begin with. But now it appears that You can't import from Amazon Japan anymore? Why?? what happened??? As for there being many more killjoys trying to eliminate foreign interest in Japanese products, what exactly is that supposed to mean? I mean no matter how hard people will try those who are truly interested in foreign products will stay that way until they decide they're not interested anymore.

...That's nice (flat tone).

As far as I can remember, Amazon Japan has never offered oversea shippings for their softwares (including eroges) and toys (including figures). Did they offer those in the past?
Recently, they have restricted shipping of all items (such as books or magazines) that are designated 18+ as well. (Although you can still buy those from Mangaoh)

Personally, I think eroges is just one of those things that'll never be successfully localized in other countries (it loses "something" when it's translated). Interested people will have to make the effort to approach it themselves rather than wait for it to approach them.

It's too "old-school"? I seem to recall many negative reviews of it ("uninteresting") as compared to To Heart 2, Da Capo 2, etc., such as "they must be trying to kill the Pia franchise with this". I don't know, I think even a well-regarded older game like Chocola Maid Cafe is kind of "tedious" nowadays.
But now it appears that You can't import from Amazon Japan anymore?
Sorry, maybe I exaggerated a bit due to the thread subject. Regular manga is still available but not worth the shipping. But other "otaku items" are much less available than before.

I'm pretty sure that I bought some Nintendo games/cartridges, Pinky St, eroge visual fanbooks/artbooks and Dengeki Hime from them in the past.

Yeah, the unfortunate thing is that Kataoka Tomo-san won't be actively involved in the new company though.
Although he did say he'll still help out if needed. They still live in the same building anyway.

(Although you can still buy those from Mangaoh)Actually, unless it's because they like me, that doesn't seem to be the case. You can still have 18+ artbooks and magazines shipped to overseas addresses - at least, it's working just fine for me, and my address here is in Canada. They still don't ship eroge, of course, but that's because it's software, which has specific export restrictions. Other than figures and games, I still order everything else through Amazon.co.jp, and have been quite happy with them (and DHL for delivering it :p ).

Because dammit, the gothloli owns me.

Ah~ I remember playing Northwind a few years ago. Great storytelling, but the fact they force you to play through Hakana's scenario 'Last Letter' during your first playthough really bothered me. I was dead set on Kanon the second I heard her say onichan! I think that was probably the first time I ctrl skipped through a whole arc...
After that though, you can roll onto the 'snow memory' scenario, which imo is the best part of the entire game. (and what makes it memorable~ Yukiko... *ksun*)
With any luck, I'll have finished it before Shuumatsu Shoujo Gensou Alicematic comes in the mail.
Because dammit, the gothloli owns me.I grabbed Alicematic this evening and have been playing it for about an hour. Not much gothloli (I would recommend Triptych for that).
First impressions, The action sequences are very nicely choreographed and the VA is top notch. Sayane is starting to grow on me (critical weakness against tsundere >.>). The story hasn't progressed much, but there is lots of foreshadowing. The intro started strong overall, now lets see if it can continue through into Sayane's story... つづく

Well I don't know, If I were you I'd go for relatively cheaper ones like kana little sister or ever17 first. :heh:
If you can not read japanese, I don't see much point ordering F/SN where all you can get are a few CGs.
Air is OK, there's a misuzu Dream arc english patch out there I think.

Not much interesting to me has come out since Muvluv Alt and ScarlettFinally someone with the same feelings as me, I mean this must be the worst year for eroge/bishoujo games ever, so much pointless moe crap coming out and few looking forward games turned our to be disappointments (like PP Pianissimo...), and doesn't seem there'll be anything interesting 'till first ef game.
Well besides ef, caught something called Edelweiss coming out at the same day (Dec 22nd, and it's not Overdrive's Edelweiss), might get this for art alone.

Looks like Stage Nana has been updated with an English version of the site:
http://stage-nana.sakura.ne.jp/
Which is quite an interesting move by Kataoka-san, even though Narcissu has enjoyed popularity overseas. (Although it's also true that Neko Neko was the only company I know of that actually released a bilingual eroge (Giniro))
It looks like the English translation was done by a professional(?) translation service called ComicTrans, who helps doujin artists appeal to oversea audiences by translating their games/comic/novel/websites into English. Which is yet another interesting news for me.
From what I can see though, the translation is somewhat awkward, although it's still far better than a machine translator (I don't think they thought about the double meaning of "light novel" when they used it at the end of "product" section ^^; ). I think the guys over at ComicTrans are doing something very interesting here. Making Japanese sources directly accessible to foreigners can certainly raise awareness and interest (better than having to listen to people who know Japanese blab about things you can't read anyway), and hopefully lead to an overall growth in a potential market... maybe.
Two sample music tracks for 2nd side have been uploaded under the game section. Narcissu is the same vocal track we heard at the end of the mini demo, lovely as ever. Roadster is.... quite a lazy track really. :heh:

I finished Giniro just recently, just had too much expectations and couldn't wait for starchanchan's patch or agilis's novelisation to complete. Wow, first thing first, my english was destoryed, lol. "Weakness people must be die", "What is on earth ... I see it is in morning" ... NNS' engrish was quite an interesting read indeed :D
Well, won't spoil anything here, besides chapter one, sagiri's story was very nice... And the first part in the 1st epilogue - the sister's story. What a huge impact that is (cries). It's not very long and runs parallel to the first chapter. It's a MUST READ for anyone who enjoy (enjoy is an unsuitable word here :heh: ) the first chapter. Either go for NNS' akward english or wait patiently for the patch.

Seems that it's the same all world over. All the places I have looked, Scarlett, MA and EF (not out yet) are receiving the high praise. What else is out there this year? DC2, if tommorrow's a sunny day, promise under the blue sky. You can also add higurashi final chapter and H2O to the list.

Why should i pay $40 for a game I'm only gonna play once? I shouldn't, now if that game had an infinite replay value i'd consider buying it, but just like PS2, Gamecube, and PC games, I play it through then get rid of it.

---------------
Regarding the piracy thing...well we're all hypocrites, but the thing is that I often download things I would gladly pay for and also pay for things which I would rather pirate. Anything Big Media (which I'd rather pirate since they're rich anyway) are definitely available, but the same cannot be said for anything niche. Which is bad because I'd rather support the niche rather than the mainstream (diversity of products is always the best)
So much for living in a country with screwy customs where its easier to find knockoffs than the real thing. Like for example, there are tons of Lego-like bricks, but there are no Legos  And while Volkswagen is a premium luxury brand with high tariffs, Ford Expeditions are very reasonably priced and were selling like hotcakes.

If you search for NNS' old games like giniro and mizuiro on himeyashop, it generally returns no result :(
I thank you for the link for Giniro. Dude I'm only up to page 10 of the pdf file, and I do sense the melancholy and depressing direction it is going. Predicaments and circumstances the like the nameless girl and Yuka of Crescendo had to go through really, really makes me wanna punch some body in the face repeatedly...T_T
Still honest to god, I cannot deny the rather well translation Giniro was given and the engaging story telling. It seems some of the people who worked on the translation are members here too. Job well done, I sincerely thank you for the opportunity you have given me to be able to experience Giniro Agilis. I hope I will have more time to pick up from where I left. The tracks in Narcissu also mention worthy, Emerald Sea ( Both versions), Rather Than A Road Of Finality and 7th Floor are my personal favourites definitely. These tracks are excellent mood and atmosphere setters in the novel.
On a side note, I accidently stumbled across a site that host most of 12-gatsu's H-scenes CGs, man that sure is alot sex. There are some sporadic comments on the game although none are as in depth as your explanations lucky. Well, thanks again, till next time.

Giniro is an old game made in year 2000. Its CGs are not particularly “pretty”, but they fit the atmosphere of the story well.
All I can find on the net are as follows:
===the offical website of nekonekosoft – giniro first chapter page:
http://www.din.or.jp/~nekoneko/title/GinIro/gin1.htm
1st pic – nameless girl
2nd pic – nameless girl crying, hugged by the protagonist. (you will know when you get there, it’s towards the end)
3rd link – Hcg, basically about the girl getting “swayed”
===the getchu introduction page
http://www.getchu.com/soft.phtml?id=1459
1st pic – nameless girl looking at the riceball stained with blood. In comparison, my signature is in the night, and you can see a firefly beside her XD
2nd pic – nameless girl standing in the river.
3rd pic – nameless girl and protagonist, looking at the moon. (you will know when you get there, it’s towards the end)
4th pic – nameless girl
Don’t worry about the rest.
Anyway it will be OK if you use your imagination in most occasions. There are not many CGs to begin with and they are full of spoilers anyway :p

And another thing, I came across this while looking for the piano sheets of giniro:
http://tmidi.hp.infoseek.co.jp/silver.html
It’s a midi fan creation page using the music from giniro. The midi music was well done and very true to the original. I would recommend you to listen to this while reading the novelisation:
Midis are available for download in the table at the lower part of the page, I will go through each one of them:
01 つかぬまのアンチテーゼ(L) 2002 4/19 〇 ――
One of the main BGM of the first chapter, suits most of the scenes well, especially at night.
08 散歩道 2004 4/12 〇 ――
Ignore this, this is a happy-happy song from chapter 3.
12 夕化粧 2002 1/17 〇 〇
SADDEST song at the end of chapter 1. It starts to play when you get to chapter 18 – “silver” or chapter 19 - “the day of tears” and right until the very end. And better yet, it’s got the mp3 version!
13 小さな花 2002 10/28 〇 ――
Plays during the memory scene, and doing my best to keep spoilers out:
Nameless girl’s memory: getting swayed, looking at the dark world, meeting another girl, and the escape.
Protagonist’s (the sword man) memory: about his parents who got the disease, his little sister and brother, etc
16 ~星の花束~ 2002 8/28 〇 ――
Same as no.1, one of the main BGM of the first chapter. Plays most of the time, whether it’s summer days when sound of cicadas filled the air, or it’s the night beside the river where the light of fireflies circles around.
17 Of One's Pure 2002 4/22 〇 ――
Ignore this one.
27 跳ね月 2003 1/8 〇 ――
I think it appeared in chapter 1 also…
Basically what you do is you click on the circles on that webpage to download the midi file. It will be in ***.lzh format. You need something like “winrar” (http://www.rarlab.com) to extract it. It will give you a folder and a pic. The music is in the folder.
In summary, I recommend you to play 01, 16 and 27 when you read. And change to no.12 -夕化粧 towards the end. (around chapter 18 – “silver” or chapter 19 - “the day of tears”)
And to fulfill the requirements to post these music here:

From agilis and haeleth from the haeleth board:
===================================
==Agilis==
On the Stage-nana BBS in the past few days he's mentioned that there's been a minor stall in the development while he waits around for casting issues to be cleared up. Looks something like he had an image of the voices and wrote some parts to match, and either the actresses aren't available right this moment, or something else.
Not much in the way of details so some of what I said is conjecture, but the gist is: casting, delays, it'll be done when it's done, hopefully soon.
===================================
==Haeleth==
I don't have any supah-sekrit inside information, if that's what you mean. Agilis' analysis of BBS postings matches mine, so I think we can expect a Japanese release reasonably soon.
(The English version may take a bit longer, but will be worth the wait: I haven't even started translation, but I've been hard at work to ensure that this will be the first NScripter translation with commercial-quality presentation.)
===================================
On the site you provided also it seems they are others translated files MuvLuv (?). Are these the same as Giniro? Are they as great as Giniro? Worth a try?
Muvluv is a 2003 game by AGE (which is famous for KGNE). But unlike KGNE which focuses on love triangle with a somewhat adult-oriented feel, Muvluv is well known for its comedy with wild imaginations. I haven’t played the game, but I heard it’s something like this: in the first half (called “extra”) you have a normal school romance story, then in the second half (called “unlimited”) you found yourself in the alternate world where all the girls became super-strong fighters, along with kick-ass robots and the like. Then the third part (called “alternative”) just released earlier this year. And you see many people listing Muvluv Alternative as their favourite erogame top 3 this year, along with scarlett (from nekonekosoft – the giniro company :D) and EF (from minori – the wind a breath of heart company :D)
Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, everyone.
This will be my last post here … for a while, the judgement (exam) is near :D

I usually take my console games back to EB or Gamestop for trade in to buy new ones. I prefer that then having a due date to beat it buy. You usually don't get much, but store credit does add up.

^_^ Thanks for the comments, I'm happy people think my writing skills are at least somewhat up to snuff, which is always a worry when you work in a vacuum.
Btw, there's no team, there's just lil' ol' Agi. I just translate what I catches my fancy and would like others to experience. Working alone is nice, no deadlines, no project announcements, it's done when I manage to do it, and I'm not going to annoy people with useless hype. Other groups do tend to release stuf faster than me for the same reason *cough* i.e. Narcissu1 and probably 2 when I get to it.
And about Muvluv? my second favorite game of all time... so long as it's played with Alternative. Considering how many hours it took to just Play the games, finishing that project will take awhile I guess.
Anyways, Muvluv's got comedy (esp. in the first part, "Extra"), then the "Unlimited" part is a sci-fi story about teamwork and a world that's known war for over 20 years. And finally "Alternative" is a rousing epic tale of love and courage that spans time, space, alternate realities and a continuous 30 hours of my waking life reading... ^^;; (ah, memories), all to save the world in true epic fashion. Anyways, Muvluv sumarization will probably get finished long before Gin'iro does, sumarizing takes less obsessive revision and I can afford to skip slightly difficult passages after all.
About EF.... for those of you who have played the demo, does it work with the Anime Games Text Hooker? I'm really interested in buying it, but I don't want to plunk down a lot of money on it and then find myself unable to read the kanji. :heh:

What am I, a freak? ^^;
I just happen to have that issue of Tech Gian, it doesn't mean I installed that calendar, and I certainly don't recognize the girls except the ones from the games I know of.

He's talking about the game, not the tool.
ef -first fan disk- can't really be called a trial version/demo, since it's not free. Although, like I mentioned in my review a couple of pages back, it's probably shorter than a standard demo.
The game does appear to be running on an original engine (for animations?) (also, the backlog literally "rewinds" the whole game, not just the text) though. So I don't know if the tool will work or not.

Whoops. I didn't mean that, srsly. :heh:
I thought that your magazine copy had a complete list of the girls featured there. (Though I think it would span a good 2 pages...)
On a side note, I think the Tsukihime English TL patch by Mirror-Moon has been completed...
EDIT: Hahaha, oh wow. Post #700. Go me. :P

OH SHI-... it has! You win an internet sir. *goes to get it* I was only on their site a few days ago and they were saying it'd still be a few more weeks or so >_> Finally, something that might give me a break from playing PSU. Maybe.
On another note, my LE Prism Ark arrived yesterday. Soo pretty :D
Prism Arc? I searched for that on Google, but can't find anything...
Now, if only you could buy Tsukihime from somewhere... :/
There are lots of copies on Yahoo Auctions
For example: http://page2.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/b71643467
Unfortunately, they usually end up running into the 20k-30k yen range once the auction is over, plus you'd need a deputy service to do the auction for you if you're not in Japan.
Thankfully i bought a copy of the game a while back, a smile i now have.
Upto the fourth day with the patch, and so far its going perfect.. i believe i'll have to take a lil' rest if i truly want to enjoy the full patch.

I'm just get a hold of FSN, To Heart 2 XRated, Yoake Mae Yori Ruriiro Na, Tsukihime, Tic Tac! and Shuffle... but why they are so damn big!! My HD is at my limit (1 GB)... :upset:
Hint: Don't install them all at the same time. Some games might be able to also use an install that doesn't copy everything over.

A few new games out last week~~~
http://img240.imageshack.us/img240/6564/c272605packagekb7.jpg
Chanter -キミの歌がとどいたら-
A summer love story that follows the usual bishoujo settings. Nothing really notable here except for the cute character designs and the OP sung by KOTOKO. If you like school life drama, this might be a good game to pick up. Otherwise save your money for the highly anticipated titles coming soon on 12/22. *waku waku*
http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/4739/c315185packagelo9.jpg
Miko-kon (み・こ・こ・ん)
Studio e・go! has the miko moe nailed down. While I rarely play their AVG games (still playing Men at Work! 4...), this one really catches my eye with it's nice art and chara designs. Again, not a must buy but still tempting for miko fans.
http://img169.imageshack.us/img169/6717/c288145packageqd1.jpg
Ai Shimai (愛姉妹~どっちにするの!!~)
Ai Shimai is quite a different game from what Silkys usually produces so it has garnered a bit of news (softhouses are giving in to the moe trend...) The story is a bit random, revolving around a normal boy becoming a candidate for god. This one falls into the ecchi comedy category.
http://img92.imageshack.us/img92/5808/c335705packagejp6.jpg
Alicematic (終末少女幻想アリスマチック)
While I never really got into Otoboku (probably the only one here...), Caramelbox latest work, Alicematic, really peaked my interest. I remember playing the trial a while back and it left a strong impression of the beginnings of an intricate story. Now playing the actual game reaffirmed my impression as there's a great amount of backstory and detail in the world of Alicematic (even the terminology has gotten me confused at times).
The character designs for this game is simply amazing. They do not suffer from your usual recycling of familiar archetypes (see above titles). The music is nicely composed, with hints of "Rozen Maiden" style themes. This fits in amazingly well with exciting battle scenes.
I will post a more detailed review with screenshots for this game later once I get some decent play time. Till then, you can try out the trial version at Caramelbox official website (http://www.caramel-box.com/products/alicematic/download/down_main.html).

Hmm... so it's like a reverse-Kamichu-treatment? Woah, I'm getting visions of "virgin offerings to please the god" scenes... :twitch:
I'm going to watch out for that new KOTOKO song... I'm always open for more of her works.
EDIT: Seems like that new song's called "a piacere". What it means.. I have no idea.
Ai Shimai...hmmmm...I'm sure that a h-anime was called like that...and...after checking it out it was based on a game, I think called "Ai Shimai" as well, or something like that...
Actually, there's a lot of them. :p
The very first AISHIMAI is an old DOS bgame from Elf/Silky, also called LOVE SISTERS. There's a famous ero-anime based on it. Review for the renewed version here. (http://www.densetsu.com/display.php?id=426&style=alphabetical)
Years after was made a bgame-sequel called AISHIMAI TSUBOMI. But with other characters. Also had an ero-anime based on it.
I'm not sure, but this one looks to be the 3rd installment for the "Aishimai" series. And again involving two sisters, but this time looks to be more a romance/comedy-themed bgame. All the others were dark-themed bgames involving blackmail, domination and humiliation.
Hey everyone,
uhm i just happened to stumble across this forum, i'm kinda new to the whole anime/hentai scene. i was recently turned on to anime when naruto debuted on cartoon network. since then ive watched every episode, all 208, and every episode of bleach. i feel sad for have fallen in to this stuff so late. seems like there are so many great things to see and i've barley scratched the surface.
Also i'm a big fan of videogames, i play them all day everyday. i've played every popular genre of games to death since i was a kid. Now i grow bored of what's out there these days. That may change tho... i'm interested in what kind of Hentai games are out there. Like what kind of gameplay and stories they offer. The few Hentai shows i have seen had very good stories to tell.
So far the only Hentai game i've played is Sexy Beach 3. Very nice graphics and beautiful girls but the gameplay gets boring. I was able to find patches to translate the interface and a few story scripts making it easy to play and understand.
I scroll through this forum and I don't even know where to start... so many names of different games thrown out all with nice looking artwork. I'd like to sink my teeth in a few but i don't know if i can handle them all being in Japanese. I'd really like to play and enjoy these types of games but that may be hard to do if not translated.
Do most of you people here understand and read Japanese to play these games? or are there a lot of patches out there for most that translate them.
also... i downloaded sexy beach 3 through a torrent... i really have no clue as to where i could even purchase these games. How do you guys mostly go about getting your Hentai games?
Please any tips/info to help a new person out as to where should i start so i can enjoy some of the great hentai games that are out there?
Thank you all...
p.s. sorry i feel dirty for having to post such a noobish sounding reply... but we've all gotta start some where. i'm usually the type to freely help people explore and learn new frontiers.
p.s.s. I just got Mahou Hitotsu Kudasai Na running... doubt there is a english patch out for this huh... lol now after running through this how is this even a game... its just a buncha still pictures and talking. are most like this? it might be cool to read through tho if it was translated.

For English bishoujo games (yes, they exist :) ), we get our stuff from one of the websites of Peter Payne's 'empire':

For Japanese bishoujo games, people mostly use Himeya ( http://www.himeyashop.com/ ).

Yes, most games are like this. They're more like visual novels than games, really. Games with more gameplay do exist, though, but there's only a couple that are translated.
If you're looking for good stories, here's some recommendations:
Kana: Little Sister
Crescendo
Chain - The Lost Footprints
Figures of Happiness
Private Nurse
For some more gameplay, there are a couple Viper games out there, which may or may not be to your taste. There's an RPG, though, Brave Soul. Don't expect a complicated battle system and story out of it, though. The battle system is mostly point and click, and the story is mostly taking quests as a Hunter and getting events with the girls. Still a neat game, though.

Benoit's right on how *most* h-games play. Normally (and if you could understand the Japanese that's onscreen), you'd be appreciating the artwork, dialogue, plot flow, and BGMs in a game. Though for some of the non-Japanese-fluent, the artwork and sounds usually have to do for them. (Like me. ^_^; )
Recently, there have been H-game hybrids coming out like Utawarerumono and the Baldr series. The first one plays similarly to Final Fantasy Tactics (or any other Strategy RPG) and still has enough h-scenes. Just enough though. And I haven't really tried any Baldr game (notable are Baldr Force and more recently, Baldr Bullet -revellion-) but I think it's more mecha themed. And it also features customization for the mechs that you'd be able to use. Think of it Armored Core.
Those two above aren't translated, unfortunately...
Then there's also Brave Soul. A verrrry rare h-game/RPG that's also been translated nicely. It's more of an anime-styled Diablo, actually. With the obligatory scenes as well...
H-game hybrids are a bit more rare than the usual games released on the market. Most have point-click-read-repeat approaches, but like I said... it's the plot/artwork/sounds that counts. If you can understand them, that is.
I'm going to watch out for that new KOTOKO song... I'm always open for more of her works.
EDIT: Seems like that new song's called "a piacere". What it means.. I have no idea.
'At pleasure' apparently. It's a musical term. Which surprised me, as I thought it was just a mispelling so horrible the original word was lost. It's a decent song, very much her style, but it doesn't really stand out nor is it particularly memorable unlike, say, her OP song for Prism Ark, Requiem of Original Sin. Still, worth a listen if you enjoy her stuff.
Also, for those who care, Paletweb responded to my request to accept preorders for the first installment of Ef. You can preorder it here (http://www.paletweb.com/selectpage.asp?code=00949) :)
And dammit, Tsukihime rules.

Benoit is right. If you are interested in non-erotic bgames too, Azira, i recommend this maker too:
http://www.hirameki-int.com/
Unfortunately, the bgame market outside Japan is still growing. There's a lot of points downs caused by the piracy, otherwise, we could have a loooot more nowadays. :(
But there's a lot of japanese playable bgames too. Most of them not depending of erotic scenes at all, because the story and playability are good enough. Many of them were released as console all-age versions because of that, like for instance UTAWARERUMONO, IZUMO 1 & 2, BALDER FORCE EXE, etc.
One of my favorite RPG/SLG bgame makers is STUDIO E-GO! (http://www.studio-ego.co.jp/). They have a lot of playable demo versions in their site. Give a try. ;)
And of course, many of us can't read japanese (heck, i can't even speak properly english!! :p ) but sometimes a good software translator like TEXT HOOKER help a lot.
EDIT: Just remembered something. Azira, you're asking about playable bgames, but didn't you say you have SEXY BEACH? This game is from ILLUSION (http://illusion.jp/), a 3D bgame maker company very specializated in playability.
If i remember well, all of their bgames are action-focused, like the action-shooting series DES BLOOD, the Stalker-Sim series BIKO and the fighting game series BATTLE RAPER, for instance.
I must say Azira's post is very mature, considering that Naruto on Cartoon Network was the spark that paved the way for him seeking more of the stuff and eventually arriving at the final destination in otaku culture, bishoujo games!
You have to realize that most hentai games--excuse me, eroge--are PC visual novels. Big console makers Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft do not like ero content, so whatever b-games end up are all-ages ports of only the most popular of the original PC versions. And the reason why they are mostly visual novels is because they require the least programming, so the development costs go to the art and scenario, where they count the most.
I'm of the opinion that visual novels are an entirely different type of new media (not quite book, not quite game, not quite comics, not quite movie, but features a bit from all of the above), so the criteria to judge them would be
1. art (very important the more ero it is)
2. story / scenario (extremely important if its to be a memorable experience)
3. replayability (here's where actually being game-like even with basic but fun gameplay elements really helps a lot)
and of course music, but that adds to the whole experience.
Determine what's most important for you.
Unfortunately there's very few offerings for the English market, the resources are already mentioned. Which means you'll be pretty much playing purely on 1.) or 3.) until someone decides to release a patch for 2.)
Wow guys, thank you for being so kind. Everything mentioned above helped me understand what I seek greatly. Thank you for helping me open the doors to this great community. I was able to absorb what you guys said and find out much much more.

Can't wait to dive in to some visual novels. It looks like translations are no problem. It seems I can use a third party program to translate the games for me.
If anyone else has anything they would like to add please do :)

You'll see that visual novels are more than just ero.

For those of you who are interested but still don't know yet, the release of Narcissu side 2nd will probably be delayed until winter comiket (C71).

There's not much left this year that I'm looking forward to, oher than ef -the first tale-. Katahane got delayed until next year too (looks like I'll be keeping the sig for a bit longer)...
Oh yeah, Tomoyo After's consumer edition is going to be out in December as well:

I'm sure CLANNAD fans already played the 18+ PC version of Tomoyo After already, but since I'm one of those rare ones who didn't, I think I'll be giving the CS Edition a try.

Lucky me, the translation patch for Tsukihime came out the day before I got Alicematic in the mail... wound up completing Ciel's good end before doing anything else.
...I really didn't expect it to turn into a love comedy at the end there. >_>;;
After that I decided to finally play Alicematic, the game that I've been anxiously waiting for since early July... needless to say, I'm not disappointed at all. :>
Sayane-chan is more than enough gothloli to keep me happy, and I'm currently on her path... probably going to go for Iori next.
It just gets more and more engrossing as the game progresses, and the little definition popup boxes are Super Helpful for a gaijin like myself. Music, art and charadesigns are awesome, too... like everyone keeps saying, it really does have a Rozen Maiden feel to it. :>
Just cleared "episode three" a few minutes ago, and... AGH AGH AAGH. That's a lot of curveballs to throw at you in a few minutes' time. XD
Nobutsuna's comment after winning, Rikka's sudden victory, and then HIKARI of all people just showing up like she did... GAAH. I really want to just keep on but if I do that, I'll get no sleep tonight. ._.;;
Pretty damned awesome for a game I initially decided to buy because the protagonist has the same birthday as me. ^_^;;
As for North Wind... eheh. That's on hold until I get done with everything else. >_>;;

lol was just about to post that it's still there, but you edited it back in xD Looks fantastic though, waaay better than your average 'moving portraits with some CGs mixed in' erogame OP, but considering it's Shinkai that's to be expected :D Definitely preordering this, if everything else ends up being even half as good as the visual quality this'll be something special indeed.
Is ef going to be fully voiced?
JarOfMayo

From how the trial is... Yes, voiced like usual works of this period...
The special things about ef. I believe sushi reviewed it for the most part awhile back... here it is. same thread lol From Page 31 (http://forums.animesuki.com/showpost.php?p=693952&postcount=617)
The way 'ef' looks and feels is hard to describe in words cause it feels... wayyy ahead of things. CGs just aren't stills anymore. :heh: Its almost like... the CG section of the trial menu is blocked out cause its a joke that there is no CG... every "scene" is well molded into the main work. Can't believe its almost a month till it comes out. :eyespin:
I think Overflow set the trend for cinematic eroge. Of course minori cannot afford to do the things Overflow did (the awesome things as well as the fatal mistakes), so their 'cinematic system' is a bit of a compromise.
Just wondering about the OP, I didn't see it as a download on minori's site, I'm assuming it's part of the trial disc?
Yet again, a Makoto Shinkai - directed eroge OP takes me to nirvana! Haven't you all noticed the visual trend he set? School Days, new Kanon---the overexposed lighting + hardcore lens flares are all over the place now! May he continue to be making many more eroge OPs!

Kickin' rad. Yeah, then I'm definitely pre-ordering this. My Japanese comprehension is limited either way, but I'll pick up a lot more if I have some voices to listen to (as opposed to trying to read unfurigana'd kanji).
The advanced visuals and Sushi-Y's earlier post about the fan disk really enticed me, but the Makoto Shinkai OP was what made me think "I have to get this." His work on the Wind and Haru no Ashioto OPs almost killed me with its beauty~
DaFool, which Overflow games have been "cinematic," as you described, and would you recommend them? When did they start making games like that?
Just wondering about the OP, I didn't see it as a download on minori's site, I'm assuming it's part of the trial disc?
Nope, first fan disc didn't have the OP. I dunno where it came from, I just know I want a bigger version :D
Oh, and whoever asked a few pages back whether the first fan disc is compatible with AGTH (I think it was Magus), yes, it is. I just tried it and it hooks fine providing you switch to 'GetGlyphOutlineA' in the little drop down menu at the top. There is the odd bit of text that's imprinted to the screen (and so stored as an image file) that it won't help with, nor are those bits voiced, but I'm sure you'll be able to get by =p

School Days and Summer Days, minus the choices, are basically anime =p Like, literally. As you can imagine, they are indeed huge. There's a fairly brief English review here (http://bluemist.animeblogger.net/archives/school-days/) but I get the impression they come highly recommended, especially now Summer Days is finally fixed. Apparently. Definitely two games I'm looking forward to playing god knows when.

I'm not sure if it's fitting to call those two games "animes". They are "animated", yes. But 75% of the time the game is restricted to characters standing still with only mouth/eye movements. By current anime standards, the games' screenplay and storyboard are far too unnatural and awkward. I think a more fitting description for those two games would be "animated ADV" instead.
But it's true that 0verflow was the first company to tread in the unknown waters of "fully animated" games. By making School Days and Summer Days animated, they had to sacrifice quite a few things (art detail and visual variety, for example). I think minori took a balanced middle ground here by doing the best they can with the visual presentation without going too far.
Just wondering about the OP, I didn't see it as a download on minori's site, I'm assuming it's part of the trial disc?
The OP was released as a storefront demo (that is, displayed on TVs in game shops) a couple of weeks ago, it's been quite the topic among the fans since then.
I believe a low-quality version of the OP (same quality as the Youtube one?) was included in the trial version (http://www.minori.ph/lineup/ef/ef1stevent.html) disk that they're handing out right now as a tour event (Akiba report (http://www.akibablog.net/archives/2006/11/ef.html)).
But I hear that the disk has some copy protection on it that's preventing people from extracting the contents. Anyway, from the Youtube video, it looks like someone managed to get the OP off of it.
As for the trial version itself, it contains the "opening portion of chapter 1", apparently (unlike the first fan disk version, where the story was already in progress). But from what I hear from those who have played it, it's even shorter than the first fan disk (something about "if you hold down the skip key, it'll be over in a minute"). :heh:
Well....... i been playing some games and got bored of them, so im wondering if anyone knows any type of h-game that is a harem type?
I know actually most h-game are that type but im looking for a story where a normal guy suddenly gets girl to like him or even as konyakusha
im just mainly looking for a game that has a normal guy who really isnt used to be liked by girls.......
hoping for a japanese game rather than those translated ones like on g-colections since ive seen them before
-im not really into games where the guy is already favored by many girls
-also something rather normal.... not things like rape if possible thanks
Aww, I thought School Days was all super high quality. Too bad I guess.

Actually, a higher quality one has been found :D rednaxela posted it over on Haeleth's boards (http://forums.haeleth.net/viewtopic.php?t=979), scroll down past the endless screenshots and follow the instructions, and there's a direct download link to a 51mb avi version. Which is much better. Still not as perfect as the version with the full game but as good as we'll get I think.

Speaking of text hookers, do you know where can I find translation plugins for it?
I managed to use AGTH sucessfully on After... and After Sweet Kiss, but all I got is the copied Japanese text. I guess that I need to use another software together with it, such as a previous poster said Atlas.
All links to QuickAtlas downloads are either broken or has been pulled out.

The January issue of Tech Gian (out in 2 days, although some stores would put them out early) will contain the ef trial version and the movie as well. I'm guessing the Tech Gian version will be better. You'll probably see it up at stage6 or something in a few days.
Edit: actually, I found one:

The guy says it's dirty, but it's only about 10,000 times better than the Youtube one. ^^;
Is it the same as the one from haeleth's board?

Well, that's because most download links for Atlas are warez. However, Fujitsu has a trial version of Atlas V13 (http://www.fujitsu.com/global/services/software/translation/atlas/trial.html) which is perfectly legal to download, and it is fully functional except for a 30 day limit.

I was hoping for freewares of course. I didn't know that I have to buy it. I think the trial version works for me. I am only interested in what the game actually says. I wouldn't be playing this visual novel again after I go through it anyway. Thanks.

They seems to be the same. Both might be a little dirty but it's still extremely beautiful.
It's really nothing that big, but since I just finished it, I figured it's worth posting something for.
(Nothing much to write about, so it's mostly screenshots ^^; )
ef -the first tale- Trial Version
As expected, it's quite short. Around 30 minutes at normal reading speed, I guess? It really does end in seconds if you hold down the skip key. ^^;
And as it was previously described before, this trial version covers the prologue portion of the first chapter of the game, which shows how Hiro met Yuuko, then Miyako, for the very first time on Christmas night.

In a way, there's really nothing to be surprised about, since most of the plot from the trial version were already released to begin with. Still, the presentation is just as pretty as ever. minori is really looking to break the mold of typical visual presentations here, and in my opinion, it's working. If they can maintain this kind of quality for the story plotline as well, then this game just might become a bar setter for all future games.

As requested by previous posters, I was wondering if anyone can help me find any high quality, english, freeware, ero-games? Thanks.

Wow, more EF goodness from Sushi-Y :D
As requested by previous posters, I was wondering if anyone can help me find any high quality, english, freeware, ero-games? Thanks.
And I direct you to:
http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=30176
Several key points:
1. no talks about warez here
2. If you want english + free, then ---> altogether
Not ero, all visual novels
2005 festival:
http://altogether.insani.org/2005/index.html
2006 festival:
http://at2006.haeleth.net/
I recommend narcissu.
3. Or, if you don't mind japanese, there's always a ton of erogame trials available for free download, check HP of varies softhouses and you will find plenty. (anyone care to fill in?)
The ef OP demo movie I had up at Stage 6 got deleted (not surprised). :heh:
On the other hand, minori has now made the movie available for download at their official page:
http://www.minori.ph/lineup/ef/index.html
(top navigation bar: forth button from the left is the download page)
A wide screen version is also available.
Due to high traffic, they took down the links. And I was at 60% too
Guess have to wait for a fansub or HQ crack.

lol, quite. Minori whine about them being on youtube and Stage6, put them on their own very slow server, which dies when barely anyone's actually finished, then their entire site is down for a few days, then it's back with the links still dead, then it comes back with them only available on the slowest mirror I have ever used (0.5kb/s - 3kb/s consistently on 2mb broadband, lol)
So if you want the widescreen version - http://www.sendspace.com/file/awno85

Huuu. I think I'll be making my first eroge purchases this year. ^^; ef looks amazing, so I just have to get it. While I am positive I'll buy ef, I also may think about buying katahane since it looks really really nice as well. Hard for me to believe that there's going to be ero content in this, which I don't really care for. In any case, eroge banzai~
While I haven't bought any before, that doesn't mean I haven't played any. My first would have had to have been Giniro, and it's been mentioned here earlier. I think I was only 13-14 when I played it. ^^;;; I still love Ayame to this day.
I've also played School Days, and countless trial's and demo's. All that stuff was before I knew much about eroge though, so that's the only reason I haven't bought anything. I'm also working on the Higurashi sound novels, and while not an eroge, it counts for something I guess.. I want to by the PS2 port toooo.
For a while I've been following the eroge community though looking for anything interesting. While I've seen many interesting titles, ef's new approach to eroge is something I've always wanted to see.
I see me creating eroge in the future... (TT ^TT); 女の子は一番なのですわ
Ummm does anyone know a similar game to ef that is actually out... i dont care if i have to buy it, but i really liked the ef OP demo movie and was hoping if there was a game already like this..
Sorry if there are post on similar games, just that i never played games similar to this one.

Katahane's release has been delayed until January anyway, so take your time. :heh: (Official site (http://tarte.deal.co.jp/products/katahane/))
Not a lot of titles interest me this season. Personally, I'm looking forward to the Winter Comiket more. :heh:

What do you mean when you say "a game like this"? Are you referring to the theme/atmosphere/plot of the game? Or the more technical aspects, such as the art quality/animation?
You can always start by checking out minori's previous games, such as Wind or Haru no Ashioto (minori official site (http://www.minori.ph/index_02.html)). I think the people over at NNL and insani managed to completely translate Wind as well.

I don't normally play ero-games because my computer probably can't handle the huge size.
But the one game that caught my eye was Atlach=Nacha (I've been reading the Cthulhu Mythos at the time)
I just listened to a few music tracks and now I want to take a look at it. I can't believe I took the trouble of downloading it. :/
Others that highly interest me are Mamatoto and Pastel Chime (is that ero?)
Dai Akuji kind of sparked some kind of interest but I'm a bit skeptical since the themes in the sypnosis don't sit well with me.
Can someone tell me more about this Dai Bancho I keep hearing about?

Yes yes, and I will see my beloved setsumi again XD
If you are a giniro fan Rasuberi, then narcissu is definitely not to be missed XD

my reaction:
*Wind has been mentioned again?*
*Immediately rushes to nnl*
Aww, it's still about the KFC!
Well, it's been nearly 2 month since the last update. I guess gipface-san is still busy with washing dishes. Poor gipface, god bless him
Anyway, I guess no one even mentioned anything about Really?Really! over here... then again, there's a whole sub-forum for Shuffle! anyway. :heh:
What, with a Really?Really! thread that span over 20 pages in the Shuffle! subforum and you are still not satisfied? :heh:
