Nuts. This is just nuts.
I was just expecting TypeMoon for its usual annual April's Fools joke, and I've only noticed now that everyone's gone nuts. Even Circus.. a literal Circus.. >_>
BTW, that English language demo for Summer Days looks good enough...
And the one game that I really wanted to be for real was the new French Bread game for Fate/stay night: Notorious Brand (blame French Bread for making up such names for their games, real or not...)
I won't mind learning 10-button controls.. If I only knew what Takizawa Kokuden was..
Try Melty Blood first, and you know how the controls for the F/sn one would be like.
It would be awesome to see Unlimited Blade Works and the Gates of Babylon as one of the final moves.
Lol it wasn't a joke

First space sci-fi, now a western... This is really starting to remind me of Haruhi's theater.
I don't know, is it me or one of people in the main page is dressed a lot like Archer?
UNLIMITED GUN WORKS.

Hmm... the art on the page reminds me a lot of those Western movie posters they used to make back in the 80's. Perhaps it's the theme?
And is that a woman on the right? *doubletakes*

Yeah, well, once in the game the style hopefully changes.
http://www.nitroplus.co.jp/pc/lineup/into_13/img/title.jpg <--- see?
Well... my favourite is probably still Pinup Girls by LIBIDO, wonderful art and somewhat interesting concept that is. Shame it was never licenced.
Currently I'm playing BLAZE, though it's starting to bore me. The H scenes are far too long-winded and the racing-game built into it is too easy.

Check this stuff out everybody (http://www.lycee-tcg.com). It's a Trading Card game where you use your favourite H-Game character to duel ala Magic The Gathering or Yu-Gi-Oh. Sounds like fun for the fans.
http://www.lycee-tcg.com/img/duel_information_ch_0298b.gif Kanon character forget her name
Chop: Tap... Mai? and you may move one of your opponents characters to the other field if that field has less characters in it (Sounds useful for potionally breaking up characters that guard each other from attack or screwing up effects that only take place in a certain field, also some cards have limitations on which field they can be summoned to so move them to the other field and they die instantly).
http://www.lycee-tcg.com/img/duel_information_ch_0755b.gif Asa Shigure from Shuffle!
Bewitchment Discharge: When you summon Asa Shigure you may choose to cover the cost of summoning her by an amount equal to the cost of a card of your choosing in your graveyard. If you choose to special summon Asa Shigure in this manner she must be played in the Defense Field. If your defense field is full a card in it must be removed from the game in order to play Asa Shigure. (Potentially easy summoning of Asa, but can have serious drawbacks depending on the actions you've taken or wish to take)
http://www.lycee-tcg.com/img/release_2006winter_va300_pr2.png Nayuki from Kanon
Tax Wakeup= no cost
Alarm Clock (Seriously that's her effect): If a character next to Nayuki has a Tax Wakeup Cost, Tap Nayuki to cover the full cost of that Tax Wakeup.
A lot of companies appear to be involved including Alicsoft, Navel, Ocelet, Type-Moon, Key and Leaf. I can provide card scans on request I suppose. They're not mine so don't go giving me credit. They belong to animecards.org .
I know this card game, have a structure pack as well as some booster packs ;)
However it's difficult to find someone to play.
For all interested read this (http://www.visual-novels.net/forum/showthread.php?t=9) thread.
Rules (http://www.geocities.com/max3075/lycee/)
Where to buy (http://www.animegamersusa.com/lycee.htm)
I myself like it quite much^^ (the new Windmill cards are just *-*)
Talking about hentai games. I did like Aozora Majika (http://www.c-games.info/games,002,5383.html) and Oni Kagura (http://www.c-games.info/games,002,5447.html) but studio Ego is rather known for quality games. They are working now on Izumo 3, must be popular :)
Key will be releasing the maxi single "Little Busters!", featuring 3 vocal songs from their upcoming game of the same name on May 25th:
http://key.visualarts.gr.jp/lb_maxi_release.htm
Unlike past Key Sounds Label CDs (which were classified as specialty softwares and carried only by certain shops), the "Little Busters!" single will be treated as a normal CD single, meaning it will be sold in regular CD shops as well.
With 2 songs written and composed by Maeda Jun himself, and the third composed by Orito Shinji, it goes without saying that this will be one disk to look forward to for all us Kagikkos. ^^

Hmm? Wasn't that the same date as the JAP release for the XBOX 360?
I can still remember the comparison of the camp-out lines in Akihabara... :D
That was the PC version that came out on the same day, I'm playing the PS2 version that came out about a year before that.
...pretty sad that I'm just getting around to it now, I know... -_-;;
So far, I've finished Tama-nee, Yuma and Karin's routes.
Yuma's kind of dragged until the later part, where it got pretty good. I liked her a lot more than I thought I would, that's for sure.
Also, the end CG with her in normal clothes plus glasses needs to be made into a figure. :3
As for Karin, she really reminded me of Haruhi, what with her insanity. Enjoyed her route too, a bit more than Yuma's.
Currrently on the last bit of Konomi's path. I was pretty surprised how much I'm enjoying her story, since her character type generally irks the hell out of me. But in her case, she just comes off as really cute. :>
Probably because of how loli she is... >_>;;

Just picked up 白銀のソレイユ-Successor of Wyrd (Shirogane no Soliel) today. I was really anticipating this one, expecially since after playing one of the chapters that was on a Tech Gian I had lying around. Bluntly put, it is seriously one of the prettiest games I've played lately, combining a mix of dynamic CG action, animation, and HQ production. I haven't seen a game like this since Ayakashi.
http://img245.imageshack.us/img245/8349/sowchr01th9.jpg (umu.. loli indeed..)
The story is based loosely around Norse mythology and Ragnarok set in the modern world. I haven't gotten far into the plot yet (still only 30 minutes into the game ^^;; ) so no synopsis. However, from what I've played so far, I'm definitely hooked to this one. The character designs are simply gorgeous, especially the Valkyrie designs. (*´Д`)

Really now? Lots of famous games like Shuffle and Fate/stay night are getting TLed left and right...
Although, won't the work be tough since School Days uses a game system vastly different from most eroge today? Y'know, animation + subtitles.
Perhaps they can use the English April Fools version as an example..
Konomi is not loli if you play the PC version. (*´Д`)
Sadly enough, I know what that means... but the PC version's better in some ways. Like having Sasara and Maryan for example. ^_^

Norse-themed games always strike my fancy (Valkyrie Profile, Ragnarok: Into the Abyss... I won't have any of that The Animation crap, thankyouverymuch).
When I first looked at the picture, I didn't think of it as a loli pic.. even with the petanyu. And I didn't spend enough time to look at it anyway, being overly scantily clad as she is...
*by the way, we didn't catch the girl in the picture's name..?*

Agreed on that, plus she wasn't either on the PS* version, I don't think they changed her in the PC version.
It kinda annoys me how peoples scream loli at Konomi while she's obviously not a character like that, there are way better examples of loli characters in others games from Leaf (like Multi from To Heart).

Hi. I want to introduce you guys this superb ero-game from Japan.
This is an amateur game made in the 2ch forum. It's all about making a Final Fantasy kind of battle between monsters and characters people created.
The trouble is, some people started making monsters doing some "wrong" attacks to pretty characters that scream as if they are enjoying it, and such culture eventually prevailed.
I uploaded it here. The link disappears soon, so download it while it's there.
http://d.turboupload.com/d/1691476/RyonaSaga_20070224.zip.html
And if you want to, make your own characters and upload here. And don't forget to put some skills to monsters such as:
-squeezing girls with a piece of slimy rope
-sucking energy
-hitting many times with a little whip so there will be a lot of screams.
Downside: It's all in Japanese, but I'm sure you guys are ok with it. You can enjoy it without understanding Japanese anyway, although it helps a lot if you know.

And if you look in the game's homepage, the only loli character is the one you posted... though she seems to be the main one :/

Does this one have gameplay other than the usual ADV style of making choices. Because if its does have some sort of RPG or Strategy element to it or anything else other than clicking through text, I am all over it.

Sorry to disappoint you, but here's what it says in the homepage:
①キャラクターのセリフはもちろんフルボイス!
②BGMの音質強化、CD-DAレベルの音質に!
③戦闘シーンの演出もムービー、カットインが増量!
④エッチリプレイ、CG、音楽モードを搭載!
⑤アダルトモーションの演出はON/OFF設定も可能に!
⑥エッチ&陵辱のメッセージ、効果音が増量。さらに過激に!
⑦連載版にはなかったあのキャラの陵辱や鎧姿でのエッチも!
The 3rd item says that battle scenes are high-quality movies. So no battle system :(

Most of the fight scenes have choices which can affect the outcome of the story (Bad/premature ending). Other than that, there is no gameplay involved.
Still, I wouldn't label it as your 'normal' ADV. The level of production gone into this game far from normal. Battle scenes are impressively animated with CG movement and animation. The action is well scripted and very intense.
Even without gameplay, Shirogane no Soliel has it's merits as a must play action title.

Title screen, one of the intimidating (yet very awesome) monster designs, and Ryuhei, the male protagonist.
Ryuhei is voiced in important scenes and when he is, his strong, hero-like character really shows. During his first meeting with Sol, he made a contract with her in order to defeat a berserker (ベルセルク) that attacked his colleagues. His wish was simple as he wanted the power to protect the people around him.
"護りたいものを……護れる力が……欲しい……"
http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/4181/solyp6.th.jpg (http://img266.imageshack.us/my.php?image=solyp6.jpg)http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/3872/sol3nw3.th.jpg (http://img217.imageshack.us/my.php?image=sol3nw3.jpg)http://img182.imageshack.us/img182/8418/sol1ce3.th.jpg (http://img182.imageshack.us/my.php?image=sol1ce3.jpg)
This is Sol, the Valkyrie Ryuhei contracted with. Her character is somewhat tsundere-ish, similar to how Shana for SnS is, but much more bearable (less bratty, more obedient).
There is a pretty interesting plot device surrounding his contract with Ryuhei which again borrows a bit from SnS. Being a Valkyrie, her life is tied to the one contracted with her. Basically, everytime she uses her powers, Ryuhei's lifespan shrinks. Obviously, Ryuhei wasn't particularly happy with this loophole and forbids her to use her power recklessly.
http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/1979/mina1uz2.th.jpg (http://img337.imageshack.us/my.php?image=mina1uz2.jpg)http://img329.imageshack.us/img329/2985/mina2oj7.th.jpg (http://img329.imageshack.us/my.php?image=mina2oj7.jpg)http://img182.imageshack.us/img182/5058/hagaru3sq8.th.jpg (http://img182.imageshack.us/my.php?image=hagaru3sq8.jpg)
Miori, another heroine that has fallen for Ryuhei. Childhood friend, Cousin and fiance (by their parent's wish) all rolled into one. Her relationship with Ryuhei is very close, however her not so obedient nature stops any form of progress. This changes however when rivals appear. Miori easily gets jealous/perverse, especially when it comes events with Hagaru. By far my favorite scenes are when Miori is in her "tsun" mode ^^
http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/8946/hagaru1nm6.th.jpg (http://img337.imageshack.us/my.php?image=hagaru1nm6.jpg)http://img410.imageshack.us/img410/2173/hagaru2kp6.th.jpg (http://img410.imageshack.us/my.php?image=hagaru2kp6.jpg)
Hagaru, the mysterious 'maid' that is living with Ryuhei. I can't really say much without spoiling her background. However, her dedication into serving Ryuhei is not what you call normal. Despite never having lived in Japan, her Japanese repertoire from cooking to speaking and various mannerisms is suprisingly advanced.
The ideal maid? umu, no complaints here ^^;

http://xs514.xs.to/xs514/07151/aruto.jpg
Well it's actually from a H game by Purple Software. Aruto (or Alto). Very nice artwork and a bittersweet story. My favorite girl is the one in the pink tanktop (Megumi Tachibana - who serves as the Tsundere Childhood friend of the main character (named Masato) - best confession scene in my opinion Masato and Megumi admit their feelings and then kiss, while riding the ferris wheel). 2nd favorite is the other girl in those pictures (Saori Tachibana, the older sister of Megumi and actually the lead female of the game, and somewhat of an airhead. Her path is especially interesting because
At one point she becomes Masato's teacher, which puts a bump into their relationship, which they already sealed prior to her becoming his teacher; fortunately in this case she only does the teaching job for two weeks (which she keeps longer in other other girls' paths) Also, it's here where Megumi becomes the overly protective sister (same is not true if Masato goes after Megumi - Saori just lets them be), who punches Masato on two occasions: 1 when Megumi finds the two lovers sleeping in the same bed at the sisters' house, 2 when the lovers are all lovey-dovey eating dinner together.)
And what is it with the sudden boom of tsundere loli archetypes in anime, manga and eroge lately? I know that it didn't start with Louise and Shana (and just maybe a little bit, dare I say it? Ilya?), but I just noticed the trend...

The depth in story design and setting is good, but not FSN good. It just doesn't have the meticulously woven setting found only in the Nasu universe.
Comparisons aside, there are plenty of similarities with FSN as with any other action oriented game (eg. Ayakashi, Gekkou no Carnavale, Muvluv Alternative, Princess Waltz). Epic fights, heroic characters, good vs. evil. Elements that work in creating an characters that we love to root for and antogonists that we despise (though sercretly admire). There has been a drought of high quality titles lately, so in a way Shirogane no Soleil is an oasis for me. ヽ(´ー`)ノ

Most of the animation used in the OP is of actual events/battles in game. Now that I think about it, the game engine they use for animation is really impressive.

One of my favorites from Purplesoftware. Their work reminds me much of Shinkai's collaboration with Minori, but with more moe ^^~
I really recommend their latest project, Primitive Link. I've only played the demo and it really is a visually impressive game combining dynamic camera movement, CG, and widescreen goodness. I'll be getting that once I finish with Shirogane no Soleil and Katahane.

Most of the fight scenes have choices which can affect the outcome of the story (Bad/premature ending). Other than that, there is no gameplay involved.
Still, I wouldn't label it as your 'normal' ADV. The level of production gone into this game far from normal. Battle scenes are impressively animated with CG movement and animation. The action is well scripted and very intense.
Even without gameplay, Shirogane no Soliel has it's merits as a must play action title.

Title screen, one of the intimidating (yet very awesome) monster designs, and Ryuhei, the male protagonist.
Ryuhei is voiced in important scenes and when he is, his strong, hero-like character really shows. During his first meeting with Sol, he made a contract with her in order to defeat a berserker (ベルセルク) that attacked his colleagues. His wish was simple as he wanted the power to protect the people around him.
"護りたいものを……護れる力が……欲しい……"
http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/4181/solyp6.th.jpg (http://img266.imageshack.us/my.php?image=solyp6.jpg)http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/3872/sol3nw3.th.jpg (http://img217.imageshack.us/my.php?image=sol3nw3.jpg)http://img182.imageshack.us/img182/8418/sol1ce3.th.jpg (http://img182.imageshack.us/my.php?image=sol1ce3.jpg)
This is Sol, the Valkyrie Ryuhei contracted with. Her character is somewhat tsundere-ish, similar to how Shana for SnS is, but much more bearable (less bratty, more obedient).
There is a pretty interesting plot device surrounding his contract with Ryuhei which again borrows a bit from SnS. Being a Valkyrie, her life is tied to the one contracted with her. Basically, everytime she uses her powers, Ryuhei's lifespan shrinks. Obviously, Ryuhei wasn't particularly happy with this loophole and forbids her to use her power recklessly.
http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/1979/mina1uz2.th.jpg (http://img337.imageshack.us/my.php?image=mina1uz2.jpg)http://img329.imageshack.us/img329/2985/mina2oj7.th.jpg (http://img329.imageshack.us/my.php?image=mina2oj7.jpg)http://img182.imageshack.us/img182/5058/hagaru3sq8.th.jpg (http://img182.imageshack.us/my.php?image=hagaru3sq8.jpg)
Miori, another heroine that has fallen for Ryuhei. Childhood friend, Cousin and fiance (by their parent's wish) all rolled into one. Her relationship with Ryuhei is very close, however her not so obedient nature stops any form of progress. This changes however when rivals appear. Miori easily gets jealous/perverse, especially when it comes events with Hagaru. By far my favorite scenes are when Miori is in her "tsun" mode ^^
http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/8946/hagaru1nm6.th.jpg (http://img337.imageshack.us/my.php?image=hagaru1nm6.jpg)http://img410.imageshack.us/img410/2173/hagaru2kp6.th.jpg (http://img410.imageshack.us/my.php?image=hagaru2kp6.jpg)
Hagaru, the mysterious 'maid' that is living with Ryuhei. I can't really say much without spoiling her background. However, her dedication into serving Ryuhei is not what you call normal. Despite never having lived in Japan, her Japanese repertoire from cooking to speaking and various mannerisms is suprisingly advanced.
The ideal maid? umu, no complaints here ^^;
It's been a while since I posted in this topic, wow. ;_;
Anyways, how many story arcs are there, and roughly how long is this game? I hope these aren't too annoying questions: I'm just passing the time as I wait for this game by playing Peace@Pieces, Nanatsuiro Drops (gotta finish Sumomo's arc!), and Prism Ark (KAGURA!!!).
I know it's been quite a while since I asked this, but has anyone else played F&C's Tenkuu no Sinfonia 1 and 2? I love both of them to death, even if the story escapes me...and that's precisely why I'm looking for people who also know about it.

Anyway, to make this post a little more informative:
Unisonshift's new game, Chu x Chu Idol (http://www.softpal.co.jp/unisonshift/products/project15/project15.htm) is supposed to be released this month, as preorders were already available.
Also from Unisonshift, Noizi Itou-sensei graces us with more of her art in the new game in the works, Alice Parade (http://www.softpal.co.jp/unisonshift/products/project16/pre_open.html)... yay~
Meanwhile, the Nanatsuiro Drops anime's airing date is still "summer of 2007", auu~
Word of warning, I went into undercover mode a while back to find out about this whole loli trend, and once your in its kind of impossible to get out. It's really kind of scary which is why I say if you are worried about becoming one, run because its almost impossible to resist beyond a certain point.
Loli's have broken many a man I guarantee it, but I'm pretty sure in my case its not the moe aspect of the loli's as much as where there's a loli you can almost guarantee some ass-kicking giant robot with super moves (or the loli is like an ass kicking giant robot with super moves) is just around the corner waiting to do something hot-blooded. It's kind of interesting that these days loli characters are more hot-blooded and ass-kicking than male teenagers.

Anyways, how many story arcs are there, and roughly how long is this game?
Shirogane no Soleil has one main arc. Play length is roughly around 20-25 hours depending on your reading speed.
If you're looking for a pure love ADV, this isn't one of them. The focus is mostly on the story portion hence the single route. Think Princess Waltz, but with more harem and bad endings ^^;
I hope these aren't too annoying questions: I'm just passing the time as I wait for this game by playing Peace@Pieces, Nanatsuiro Drops (gotta finish Sumomo's arc!), and Prism Ark (KAGURA!!!).
I would recommend at least finishing Sumomo, Anzu (+fandisc), Hikaru, Homare, Kagura, and Fel. Their routes are by far the best experience you can get from those games without sinking too much time in the common route. (the skip function is your friend~ ^ω^)
Also, take my advice. Avoid playing too many games simultaneously. Unlike anime and manga which can be digested easily in short bursts, novels require more user participation and emotional investment in order to get the full experience.
Limit yourself to two games at a time. This may be very difficult, especially since there is long list of worthwhile titles to go through (speaks from personal experience ^^; ). In the end though, it will make a difference in how emotionally attached you become to the characters and the game itself.

And yeah, kct's doesn't favor loli-themed characters.
Now that I think about it, Suzuhira, Nishimata and Misato Mitsumi don't make too much loli characters anyway.
Save for the ones that fill in the appropriate niche in certain series. (Primula for the formers, Konomi and others for the latter) :heh:

One route? Whew! Thanks for telling me that. That definitely makes its easier for me to play through Shirogane no Soleil now, since I don't have to worry about other story arcs, just bad endings. Meaning, I'd just have to concentrate on selecting the right choices instead of having to replay the game for another story route.
Sumomo (for Nanatsuiro Drops) is a given, since she's just so captivating. I've also heard about how the other two heroines, Nadeshiko and Nona, lack story and are merely "fillers" to Sumomo, but then some say that you should play through their two arcs first before Sumomo's to get the full experience of Nanatsuiro Drops, so...uwa...
Anzu, Hikaru, Homare (for Peace@Pieces) are also a given - I like these characters. I for some reason can't associate with Nagi, so I'm going to stray from her arc for a while, but Maririn amuses me, so I might check her story just in case. As for the One More Pieces arc, yeah, it's definitey Anzu for me. :D I <3 that loli!
Kagura and Fel for Prism Ark? Seconded, but I'm also interested with Teresa. That is...unless its not as interesting as I thought it would be. The reason for my interest is because of the fandisc, Teresa to Heart. Curse my 90% scenario completion, I can't seem to advance it any further. ;__; I finished Precia's arc with Prism Ark, but it was just...lacking in some places. Guess that's why replayability in different arcs is a must-have.
Also, take my advice. Avoid playing too many games simultaneously. Unlike anime and manga which can be digested easily in short bursts, novels require more user participation and emotional investment in order to get the full experience.

Oh, I know about that. My little knowledge of Japanese keeps me in check, anyways, which is why I'm always stuck to two games at a time. The thing is, I still have these waiting for me: Wasurenagusa, Tenkuu no Sinfonia 1 and 2 (finished it before already, but I just played through it for the fun trainings and battles, so I'll be going through these again for the story), Sudzuruki Dragon, Shirogane no Soleil, and Quilt.
Plus, I need all the experience I can get, since I'm kind of intent in producing a visual novel myself - but that's a different story altogether.

From my recent playlist~
Riya - メグメル Megumeru (Clannad)
Lia - Light Colors (Tomoyo After...)

Just play though Sumomo first ^^; She's the main heroine and deserves every bit of it. Nono and Nadeshiko's route are considerably shorter, but still pretty enjoyable and heartwarming experience (Nono especially).
As for the One More Pieces arc, yeah, it's definitey Anzu for me. :D I <3 that loli!
Umu, though the main reason why I recommend the fandisc is that it contains the continuation of the Anzu's end from Peace@Pieces. Her original ending was far from complete, ruining much of the momentum her scenario was building up (very dissapointing). However, the 'Postscripts" chapter in the fandisc changes this and adds a whole new dimension to her "ending". I can't really spoil the details other than the fact that reading Anzu's after story literally brought me to tears~ ^^;

Apparently the company LEAF just folded, you can read about it on ANN. The boom really is over it would seem and the H-Game market is going into a bit of a recession. I hope Alicesoft, Eushully, Kogado and Studio-E.Go are safe though. The abyss can have the ADV companies, but hopefully it leaves the RPG, SLG, Strategy etc. companies alone.

What? Some companies are going to fall on hard times if a recession in that market kicks in and I would prefer that if the floor gives that none of my favourite companies will go down. Since I have no real love for ADV games if something has to go so that the market isn't flooded like just before the 80's video game crash, then I'd prefer it was the companies that pump out those games. Hopefully it doesn't come to that and the market picks up again, but I'm not going to say.

Based on the Wikipedia post, (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biseinen) biseinen seem to be one step up the ladder from bishounen, where the latter are around highschool or younger, while the former are already adults. Like comparing the Ouran guys to... Friagne or Kisaragi-sensei.

Wow. That newspost almost gave me a heart attack.
There's absolutely no way I'd let Leaf go down, especially before they release Another Days. I want my Maryan-sempai, darnit...
[SIZE="1"]*checks the Another Days website... and it's still barren.. auu~*
Okay, okay, that's a bad example.
Uwa. The one I'm waiting for would be Touka Gettan and Eien no Aselia 2. I can't wait for June already. >_< Eien no Aselia was such a great game for me, I wish its sequel would hurry up!

Actually...that's her name. Euphoria. I'm not even making it up.
Says so right here (http://www.xuse.co.jp/product/narukana/img/ch_13.jpg). She's Eternal Aselia and Yuuto's daughter, the heroine of Eien no Aselia 1.

I can see why it'd sound...odd for anyone, though. I mean, naming a loli Euphoria just tends to provoke "o_O" reactions from people.

Dude I think I have Eien No Aselia here somewhere, now what did I do with it.... "Morrow Iselia Mecha", The Hell.... I guess this is it. I haven't gotten around to playing it yet, but I've heard its some sort of Strategy RPG. Looks like its friendly on the leveling up front too.
Did somebody mention Yosuke Akimoto. I thought the moe girls forced him into retirement. Good to here he's back, even if its in an ADV style H-Game.

I've heard some comments on EnA, and most of them were good. A rather nice RPG, with a good battle system. Oh, and the art wasn't bad for a game a few years back.

Also did searching on youtube, and I finally found the OP for Shirogane no Soleil (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jO1AmqZU6a8).

The song was soothing, and the first few seconds almost reminded me of Ar Tonelico's hymnos songs. :heh:
It makes me wonder if the singer's really the same one that sung Hφwling sφul. ^_^;;
The art too, it was great looking.
And is the girl speaking in the end Sol? A darn cute (and not so squeaky) voice, just to my liking. :D

I posted the Youtube OP a few pages back for Dark Lord Zenigame. I don't remember if I read it right, but I think Ryuhei was the student of Master Asia's seiyuu's character (wow that's confusing), and was recalling his lessons. That is, IIRC. I was preeeeetty damn lightheaded when I came upon that part (insomnia, it is bad, yes?) so I don't exactly know if I was right.

Play it. It both has an easy mode and hard mode - the hard mode is hell if you don't know what you're doing. Also, considering that the game was released some time ago, graphics shouldn't matter to you.
As for the game play, let me break it down like this.
Basically the RPG aspect of the game is that you move around in a map, defending your territory against invaders while claiming their land (in a sense). Your forces are represented by numbers 1 to 6, indicated by an arrow. Forces 1 to 4 are all made up of three slots: attacker, supporter and defender, and you need a characterto fill each of those slots.
There are various types of Spirits in the game, and needless to say, these will be your troops. Blue spirits are good at attacking and suppressing enemy Support magic, so they're usually frontline, and go to support roles when their attacks have been depleted. Red spirits are usually good at attack magic, so they'realways found in the Suport roles always (one spell can usually wipe out an entire party) while Green spirits are good for defending and support, as their support magic can boost up your stats. Black Spirits are good for Support, to cut off enemy magic, and attack if you want, but they're weaker than Blue spirits, and their attacks are not as hard hitting. Also, all of these: attacks, magic, defense, have a limited amount of uses. You can also shuffle around the priorities of when they will be executed. They can be replenished, however, by going into towns.
The thing here is that all characters have a mind stat. You can think of it as their sanity, if you will, like in Shadow Hearts. Every time you kill an enemy, your mind will go down. You need a high mind in the game in order to unlock both the high level classes, and to get the two characters that join you in the world of Aselia (I forgot the exact name of Aselia's world). So you need to balance things as to who kills who. Also, needless to say, you need a high mind to get the good ending with the girl that you wish. There are ways of restoring mind, however.
Also, you can build buildings with Ether, which will make your life easier. There are training halls where you can level up your Spirits according to various trainers, there are fortresses which give your troops additional parameter bonuses when engaging the enemy in them, there are Mana converters which convert your accumulated Mana into Ether, etc.
That said, I totally love Eternal Aselia's final attacks and support magic, even though they only have two uses. I mean, damn. It's as if Eternal Aselia, Eternal Yuuto, and the third Eternal (not naming for fear of spoilers) were made to be the game's best characters, and it realy shows.
I can't wait for Eien no Aselia 2. >w<
I really need to make a sound clip of Sol and Ryuhei arguing. The boke comedy between the two is so funny, plus it's just so cute when Sol gets angry and pouts~ ^^;

I don't know if it's possible, but could someone possibly take Sol's voice sample (the one you hear when you test the female voice under voice in the system) and put it as a .wav file? I just want it so bad for my cellphone. >_< I just think it'd be funny that people would suddenly be scolded by a tsundere loli everytime my phone receives a message, uwa.

Now that somehow reminds me of Sengoku Rance's gameplay, though replace the "conquering other nations" part with "conquering the rest of Japan". Both seem to have superb replayability...

umu~ they follow the same archetype so it's not strange to see similarities in the two couples. However, I still think Sol is infinitely cuter than Shana/Louise. Considering that you can actually develop a romantic relationship that doesn't reset at the end of the episode. ^^;;
Basically, while Sol maybe tsunderelolilicious (lol, it's actually pretty catchy~) like Shana/Louise, much of it changes in the latter half when the dere side of Sol starts catching up... and once you get see that side of her there's really no turning back! ヽ(^ω^)ノ なかま! なかま!

umu... It's been pretty slow lately (Which is good in it's own kind of way...) and most of the games coming out lately appeal to the more 'hardcore' and 'fetish' crowd. Still, there are quite a few titles, around 6-8 games caught my eye for the April-May release block. Here's the top five from the list~

桃華月憚
Touka Gettan
The highly anticipated sequel to Kao no Nai Tsuki. This was originally suppose to be released on 4/6 to coincide closely with the anime airing, but was pushed back to 4/27 to much of fans dismay, especially for those who preordered the game. (´;ω;`) <(ksun..)
While watching the anime will give you a small glimpse into the fantasy style setting and 'opera-ish' character designs, it is still only an adapation of the original work with strict production limitations and time constraints. Playing the original work the anime was based on is simply a whole new experience altogether.
Like Kao no Nai Tsuki, the game is part AVG and part SLG. The SLG portion consist mostly of choices through map movement and small time based duels. The majority of the game is AVG. Of course, this is where Root really shows their forte, combining beautiful art and design by Carnelian, a deep and engrossing scenario, and some of the most original musical scores in the industry.
I'll post more impressions once the preorder ships out on the 25th ^^~

Xross Scramble
A compilation of new scenarios, spin offs, and parallel universes for two of Giga's most popular games, Baldr Force and Duel Savior. It's not a new game, but a must have for Baldr/Savior fans interested in more play content. There are four games in total;
Baldr Force RE-ACTION - New ACT missions and scenarios to solve.
Duel Savior - A completely new scenario for Clare, a fan voted favorite. *raises hand*
Xross Savior - Comedy spin off of the Duel Savior universe.
Scramble Savior - Minigame which takes past GIGA characters and throws them into the Duel Savior battle system.

みんな大好き 子づくりばんちょう
Minna Daisuki kozukuri Banchou
New AVG+SLG by Anastasia. The story follows a more comedy harem approach compared works by Eushully (their parent company). From first impressions, this game is really shaping up to be an interesting and refreshing take on the SLG genre. Set in the modern world where the birthrate has declined to an alarming rate, in response to the declining populace of the city, two (very rediculous) proposals were passed;
"There only needs to be one school in the city. To decide which school will stay, they will fight each other (cue in the minigames). Also, the loser will swear absolute obedience to the victor."
"A large amount of child support will be given appropriate to the number if children fostered."
Being the loving sis-con that you are, in order to protect your younger sister (apparently targeted by 95% of the male populace...), you decide to participate in the fight against the rival school. Of course, being a harem hero, after every fight you request to make a child to help with your financial problems. The perfect example of killing two birds with one stone~ ^^;;
The SLG portion plays very much like territory capture where you have to beat minigames in order to win it and unlock new areas. Combine with the very moe characters (Tsubaki! <3) and simple, yet funny storyline and you have a solid title for SLG fans.

アメサラサ~雨と、不思議な君に、恋をする~
Amasarasa ~Ame to, Fushigi na Kimi ni, Koi o Suru
Being a huge fan of their work ( I highly recommend Sakura Musubi さくらむすび) I'm definitely looking forward to their next project, Amesarasa. It has the potential to become a great romance title, especially with the unique design and circumstances of the male protagonist.
Ever since he was a child, he had a strange connection with the weather of the city. When an event happens which makes him sad or depressed, rain would fall till he stops. Because of this, he rarely has any close friends and refused to participate in school activities. The fear of losing someone dear to him is too great to bear (past trauma?), therefore he now runs away before he begins to develop feelings for anyone.
While the hero sounds very much like a coward, he is actually very likable once you get to know him. Playing the demo, his character really grows on you, especially after knowing some of the circumstances surrounding his 'trauma'. How the story develops and how each heroine will 'touch' the hero, I'll leave it to your imagination ^^

片恋いの月
Katakoii no Tsuki
Another ADV I had my eye on for May. I haven't finished the demo yet, but the basis of the story follows the Folklore research club in their work to uncover the mystery of 時間の流れ (flow of time) and how it affects their town. It may look like a normal school romance on the surface, but there is clearly a 2nd side working in the background of the story. What that is though, I have yet to figure out ^^;;
What really attracted me to this Katakoii no Tsuki is that it has some of the most interesting characters out of the May releases. The VA casting is top notch and does an excellent job of portraying each heroine. They literally effuse with their own personality and unique quirks. Anna especially (voiced by Kimura Ayaka!) will break all moe records with her energetic yell; "Uuuu~~raaa~!!" (http://rapidshare.com/files/25910506/Anna.mp3.html)

Amasarasa ~Ame to, Fushigi na Kimi ni, Koi o Suru
That's the only game I'm interested in for this month... though I think Cuffs changed script writer since their previous game. Didn't know demo is already out, need to check it.
Was also interested in Touka Gettan, but SLG system from the demo kinda puts me off, there are no voices either, and what's with cheaply done backgrounds (some smudgy PS filter put over real photos?)... or maybe that's just in a demo.
edit: Just looked around, seems like Tonoike Daisuke, writer behind Sakura Musubi (he also wrote Suigetsu and Canvas) is still with Cuffs, he has another game coming up, called Garden... well another title to look forward to then.

Finally I have learned what the Anastasia/Eushully game is called and how it plays. Looking at the screenshots I had a feeling it was a territory capture game and that mini games you play. What I didn't know and am almost speechless to hear is that I get to play Oniichan and go out and protect imouto  . Could this be Anastasia/Eushully's best game yet?
Oh and if you are watching Ascaloth, there's the er... dere-dere you were looking for.
The Mahou game already came out over a year ago actually. I believe 3 of the characters made a cameo in Version 2 of Meisoyoku no Reiki (There is a bonus team of Generals I can't pin too one of their past games).

Not that it's suprising, but yes there's ero content (*´Д`)
Was also interested in Touka Gettan, but SLG system from the demo kinda puts me off, there are no voices either, and what's with cheaply done backgrounds (some smudgy PS filter put over real photos?)... or maybe that's just in a demo.
Once you play a little bit further, you'll start to get use to the BG styling and won't notice it as much. Or if it bugs you too much, you can try to focus your eyes on the yummy Carnelian art instead (not much difficulty here ^^; ). It is still a demo so things will likely change in the final version. *crosses fingers*
Ah, and Touka Gettan will have full voicing in the final release~ ^ω^)
I think Cuffs changed script writer since their previous game.
umu.. the scenario writers for this game is different. The two writers in Amesarasa I believe have worked on the scenario in a few Unisonshift games, notably Nanatsuiro Drops and Peace@pieces. I think it's pretty safe to expect a well written and engaging scenario for what think is the best AVG for May ^^
I tried the game out when it was being serialized on Tech Gian, but ryoujoku-kei contents aren't really my type... ^^;
umu~.. at first I avoided Shirogane no Soleil for the same reason until I found out that as long as you steer clear of bad end choices, you can finish the game without playing though those scenes.
Walkthrough (recommended!) - http://gamerssquare.kanpaku.jp/shiroganenosoleil.htm
The original soundtrack is included as a bonus in the first editon of the game.
In other words, you can't buy it, except maybe from auctions.

Hooray the first game in Alicesoft's 2007 catologue has been http://www.alicesoft.com/teacher/index.html, though I'm not entirely sure what its about or if the characters are all mature females (seems like Suicide, but that's all I see as of now on the character page). Eh, you're not the only one. ^_^;;
I've had Alicematic since it was released and haven't played it in a damned long time, stopping right after beating Sayane.
I also juggled North Wind at the same time, and haven't played that since the end of December when I finished off Last Letter.
And then I got Colorful Aquarium, which I just started up again and got through Alisa's route and nearing the end of Touko's. ^_^;;
Oh yeah, and I got Hidamari in the mail last week and have yet to even install that one. And then there's To Heart 2, which I'm about halfway through.... eheh.

Pardon me for going off topic, but does anyone here know if there's any good alternatives besides Himeya in shipping bishoujo games internationally in terms of prices? As Himeya's a tad bid high on the price range of some of these games (even with shipping excluded, they charge insanely higher than the original sale price in Akiba stores). If I live any further away from Japan (i.e. Europe or North America), I'll be going bankrupt any moment. :D

Hmm, as for PS2 games I recommend www.yesasia.com
Also always worth try: Paletweb (http://www.paletweb.com/)
Hmm, and if you want to order something from Amazon.co.jp or the Japanese Yahoo auctions: Crescent Shop (http://www.crescent-shop.com/)
Hope that helps you a bit. Unfortunately pc versions of visual novels will always be expensive..

A doujin novel game with a rather interesting premise and atmosphere. The OP movie attracted my attention, so I played through the first chapter of the game (the only one out right now).
The language at times can go way beyond "heavy handedness" all the way into the realm of denpa talk, but overall I liked it for a mere prologue.
The next Higurashi? Don't know yet, but it's one game I'm keeping my eyes on.
Well, Paletweb has definetely cheaper prices than Himeya, however Himeya offer just more.
Hmm, since I tend to hunt limited editions I mostly end up at Crescent so or so.
However I'm most angry not about the high price I already pay for each visual novel I import but about the German customs. They charge you the full 19% tax on the article plus shipping, yay >.<
On a side note, we have published a review of Air (http://www.visual-novels.net/vn/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=353&Itemid=52) if someone is interested.
Well, Paletweb has definetely cheaper prices than Himeya, however Himeya offer just more.
Actually, the only difference is that Himeya's web catalogue is more complete. If you took the time to send a request mail to the guys at paletweb, they'll most likely be able to provide you with the same items that Himeya does. I have been able to request some pretty rare doujin items off of them that even Himeya does not have.
Of course, Himeya also has a request system, but then it all goes back to price again...

I played Grand Theft Auto and Dead Rising a bit before starting Da Capo.
Finished with the Shinobu path in Teninai (hence my violent remarks above)...if there is anything I'll say, it's a bit on the crazy side of things (cutting the wrist, 'selling' herself to the guy, and everything).
Looks like I'm going to have a look at the other paths (especially Yukio, only if my IRC channel mate won't kill me), given the time and the fact that I cancelled the MG IWSP project...probably a Mark II 2.0, but not soon.

Crappy game. Everyplace looked the same, the combat was plain, the leveling was unbalanced (like three levels could make the difference between getting killed in a few hits and completely overpowering that enemy)... yeah, you're better off just sticking to looking at the CG sets with that game.
I do plan on buying Tsukihime once I get the money, though, and F/SN once mirrormoon finishes the translation patch. (which doesn't look like its going to be anytime soon)

Is this supposed to be like the Xenoglossia of Rumbling Hearts, the idea that since every show is mecha this year, why not make a Mecha spin-off game out of Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien. Weird and crazy, crazy AND weird. It's Akane Maniax the game.

This is a Muvluv fandisc (the main games in the series were released in 2003 and 2006, respectively), so it isn't directly related to KGNE.
Nonetheless, the Muvluv franchise is a KGNE spin-off of sorts, although these are non-canonical links that age undoubtedly incorporated to lure in existing fans. The Akane Maniax fandisc (later adapted into anime form) further served to solidify this bridge.

I didn't expect the demo (OP?) to be full length, but it turned out nicely. The OP song was quite lively (I can see some of Maeda-san's rock passion here) and really had that youthful energetic feel to it. At least in this case, the energy is justified (coughclannadopcough).

I finally mangaed to beat Meisoyoku No Reiki V 2.0 (Actually it isn't that hard, I just hadn't gotten around to it). To my surprise the final boss was actually my main character from the actual Base game. Also he was accompanied by a succubi troop that beared a startling resemblance to Suzumiya Haruhi (Actually there were about 10 of them in his brigade, very annoying scratch attack that could potentially kill my main character in one strike).
Now I guess my favor will be turned toward Prism Ark. Still waiting to have my first battle and I hope I don't screw up on going down Fil's path. She's to crazy too pass up with her constant sideways lean into the screen to say something witty, and bizarre nature.

Oh that's right, I take an interest in this game. Hopefully it isn't ridiculously freaking huge like Prism Ark was due to lack of compression (Alle wir können, japanische Firmen Kompression hassen).
Remember anyone who speaks German can't be evil.
Just watched it. Okay now that is how you do an opening theme. Phenomenal production values on everything present in the video. We're in what I like to refer to as "Winback" territory, where the idea of strong effort will be rewarded, begins to push out the idea of minimize effort and look for others ways to maximize profit schemes. This is what it missing in Japanese games lately. So glad to see real female singers who actually sing with passion making a comeback.

Still need to get round to ordering my copy of Melty Blood but FSN was the first erogame I bought like, a year ago from Paletweb, so I look forward to having the time to put it to use at last :D Glad they chose the route by route thing instead of waking us wait in agony for all of them to be done, heh.

After watching both Seinarukana trailers repeatedly, I'd have to say that, while not as catchy as Eien no Aselia's first theme, the theme of Seinarukana eventually grows on you. I also find it's epic "feel" more appropriate, as Seinarukana seems to integrate four different world this time, and not just one.
The 160MB trailer was mostly about the presentation of the various worlds, characters (EUPHORIA), battle system, and overall look of the game, to which I'd have to say is that they're absolutely GORGEOUS. Seinarukana seems to have expanded upon the whole "3 members in a party" combat system, and from the looks of it, it seems as if the roles of Attacker, Defender and Support still exist.
Damn...right now, Satsuki (the red haired girl with wings) is a close favorite because she reminds me so much of Aselia, especially with one of her particular CGs in the game (it's available as a preview in the site of Seinarukana) mirroring the CG of Aselia when she saved Yuuto. Euphoria, however, is still my favorite because of al the backstory that's happened between Yuuto and Aselia: I'm curious to see just how much she has inherited from her parents, as well as what happened to them. Also, this is the first time I've seen Ruptna, the seemingly "masculine" (she referred to herself as "boku" in her character profile) miko in a gameplay footage, and damn, she looks like she can kick serious ass.
The second trailer, the 40MB one, only left a bitter taste in my mouth. Bitter because I have to wait for roughly June 29 before I get my hands on Seinarukana, but I'll DEFINITELY be going after the Special Package, though it's pretty costly. As for its contents, the 40MB is a condensed version of the bigger trailer, starting off with "After three years, the second chapter Saga of the Eternity Sword begins...". Then it shows brief footage of the main character, Nozomu, then Satsuki, and then the others, ending with Satsuki(?) saying "わたしの未来は、 絶対に渡さない". The music from the second trailer, however, isn't vocal, but a fast-paced techno.
I can't also wait to listen to the new tracks for the game. Eien no Aselia's music was pretty good, managing to fit the scenes they were played for perfectly. Cant wait to see how they do it in Seinarukana.
Out of curiosity, does anyone else think that Tony Taka was involved with the character designs? I mean, Katina Aigias (the black knight woman) looked awfully close to Tony Taka's style, but when I checked Getchu, it said that the artist for the game was the same one who did Floralia, among others.
And we finaly were able to publish a review of Fate/ stay night (http://www.visual-novels.net/vn/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=377&Itemid=52).
Nice to see the fate route translated, however I'm currently stucked with, hehe, what could it be.. Tsukihime;)

Hey Erhjegel, quick question. What does the Eien No Aselia: Spirit of Eternity 1 Expansion Pack bring to the game. Does it actually add new stages or is it just the usual set of mini-games? Why do I get this strange feeling I may have asked this question already?

All it does is provide more story for two other characters, who are:
Kyoko, Yuuto's classmate from his own world (and fellow Etranger), and Tokiko, the Miko and Eternal you ally yourself with later on
That's about it, aside from an ending where Aselia and the Spirits are left with the task of rebuilding Rakios. That's all I remember from the game's expansion.

So, just recently I got aware that there is a a project to translate To Heart 2 (http://www.freewebs.com/avenger32/). According to the site the only thing left to do is the programming, and at the forum they said that they are already on beta testing.
By any chance, would anyone know how is this beta test progressing?

Apparently, Eien no Aselia 2: Seinarukana takes you through time and space now, which is why there are several worlds included in the game. Ayyo's blog made a mention of seven worlds, but we've only seen the Worlds of Magic, Sword, Spirits, and the Normal world, so I can't wait to see the rest of them.
Also, Setoki Nozomu is the reincarnation of the god of destruction, and he is out on a quest to save time itself, when his past and present lives start to clash with each other.
So this explains the whole epic feel of Seinarukana. Now I definitely can't wait for this one.

Isn't Ayyo the guy who ended up imploding his own blog. I went back there once to read up some stuff and it was suddenly gone and replaced with a weird snowy pic proclaiming the death of his site.
But Himeya does offer their own sort of Pre-order Bonuses (even though they charge for them... shame on them) which I haven't seen from paletweb yet.
But I've been using paletweb for years now and I couldn't be happier... their shipping times are amazing. :D
Except that each damn shop uses EMS and the German customs charge you 19% on not only the article but the shipping costs as well..
SAL works better since the customs let it through often xD

I think that it goes without saying that this is a million times better than Thunder Warrior Raidy.
Its not very good as an ero game (the H scenes are more funny than hot.... "Don't you think that its a little embarassing for him to come because his ass was violated?" :heh: But I'd already seen a lot of the artwork for F/SN, so I wasn't expecting much in the animation department), but the story good and most of the characters are likable. (and I had a lot of room to be disappointed, seeing as how I went into this game almost completely cold, and it could have turned out to be completely different from what I expected... the only things that I knew about it was that it was a Typemoon game, a group that's well known for their good storytelling and characters, the fact that humans in Tsukihime are much more powerful than any humans in F/SN, and what Arc and Kohaku looked like)

Only one more day until the new Eushully game comes out. I can't wait. The art looks great too. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be a Warioware type game or something, but it looks fun. Actually it's not entirely an Eushully game, but an Anastasia game, which is like chibi Eushully. The best part about their games is they always seem to have cameos from past characters and they don't skimp on the challenge like a lot of games do. Every game is different and the systems often have a steep learning curve, but once you get a handle on it they become more playable. Also, in my case they often beat out console games in terms of overall funfactor. Super Psyched! :D

Overall, I really liked it. I also ended up liking Satsuki and Katina more, though I really want to see Ruptna and Euphoria in action.

After watching the demo video for Seinarukana, I can't help comparing the song with some marching theme or a national hymn. It has that "grandiose" feel to it... perhaps it really carries over to the game itself. Some great adventure about good and evil, and of course, meeting lots of friends (and the requisite girl) along the way. ^_^
All of the girls look pretty likeable. None of them have that overbearing aura that I sense from other characters.. Nozomu, the protagonist, looks pretty capable too.
Oh, and Euphoria's really cute. :D

Definitely epic, definitely made of quality, and definitely something to wait for.
And yes, Euphoria is cute. Also, it seems that her Guardian Spirit (the spirits that embody their Shinkens, or something), is a dragon. o_o
Can't wait to see both Ruptna and Euphoria! I'm also hoping that Yuuto, Aselia and the rest of the characters in Eien no Aselia make an appearance (like Restina and Tokimi, for example).
Basically I'm just distracting myself from thinking too much on narcissu 2nd before the english version is out :p

I'll admit it, plot and development wise, the first game had more impact. But side 2nd is packed with 10 times more sentiments and thought-evoking topics. Like Kataoka-san said, the game is not meant to make you cry or anything, but if it can give you some food for thought, or make you want to replay the first game again, then his objective is completed.
Still, nothing stopped me from getting all watery-eyed with Himeko and the little girl. And when Setsumi cried in the end there... :upset:

I was expecting that, seeing it to be a doujin game not a commerical piece. And Tomo kataoka san said himself that he wanted this game to reach as many people as possible.
In tear-jerking game, there are certain "triggers" that can make you cry, a twist in story, sudden music, melachonic writing, words/cries by the seiyuu, etc, these "triggers" are creative arts themselves, but these "triggers" doesn't always carry a meaning, but more of a demonstration of the love you developed on the characters, more of a selling point for commerical games. You feeling good (?) after you emptied your lacrimal glands, there, that's entertainment for ya :p (this opinion is open for debate though, I've been thinking about this but never reached a conclusion:D)
Same with narcissu as well, i believe kataoka san could have made it twice as much tear-jerking, seeing how he did the chapter 1 of giniro.
Well, better leave the comments AFTER I played the 2nd.:heh:

Could someone please tell me some details regarding this (http://leaf.aquaplus.co.jp/product/megiddo/index.html) title.
I wonder with which title this game can be compared.
Wow... I almost didn't recognize it as the same game from the scans a long time ago. :heh:
Think of it as a 3-D Leaf RPG, a la Tenerezza (http://www.aquaplus.co.jp/tene/index.html). It's one of Leaf's larger productions, with many years in development, and 5 different artists such as Mitsumi Misato (TH2), Amazuyu Tatsuki (Utawarerumono), and Kawata Hisashi (Routes).
Hopefully this means it's coming soon.
Finished the Seinarukana demo yesterday.
That was pretty long for a trial, I think it took me 5 hours to work though it. ^^;
In general, I really liked it. As expected for a trial version, there are some scene skippings. And I actually really wanted to find out what happened between the scenes (like how Nozomu and the gang met up with Katima), which is always a good sign for a game I want to play.
The writing is good too, nicely paced and structured: there's always something happening or something that needs to be done (like securing food and water in the beginning, or arriving at certain towns later on). It certainly gives the story an RPG feel.
The battle system appears complex at first, but is actually really simple. It reminds me of digimon card games in a sense that everyone has a set of skills divided into 3 categories: attacker, defender, and supporter, depending on the role they have been assigned to. In combat, an attacker's (attack) skill rating is (generally) directly compared against the defender's (defense) skill rating, while the supporter's skills can have various offensive or defensive effects against certain targets.
The battle process is quite straightforward too, since you can't switch skills halfway, besides swapping roles between characters in the team, all there is to do is watch the characters fight it out. The 2D sprites and effects are quite nice though, as well as the sound effects.
The green halberd's (鉾) combat reactions made me laugh so hard. :heh:
The music is top notch too, especially the ones that are played during tense moments or combat. Xuse really caught that RPG feel nicely.
One thing I noticed while playing is the progression speed: while fighting on the world map, I notice just how big the "world of sword" is. In the trial version, the story takes you through two major towns (each has about an hour worth of reading associated to it), but there are dozens more towns and cities on the map! And considering this is just the first world out of the many that were introduced officially, I wonder just how long this game will be?
Thanks for the info! Unfortunately I have no time for any game atm..
Ah, I have to ask you all for a favour, please read this (http://www.visual-novels.net/vn/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=404&Itemid=2#jc_allComments).

Also known as if Kyoto Animation had to do another Key Game I'd rather have seen them do this than Clannad for how fresh it looks, but you know.... Also it looks like Key's artist finally learned how to draw better unless this a knew one.
By the way, I may have missed the boat, but what is Narcissu and why is it so heavily anticipated.
what is Narcissu
A free product from Tomo Kataoka, the (former) director/lead writer of Nekoneko Soft. Since this was a non-commercial title, Kataoka took the opportunity to experiment with minimalist presentations and a serious, non-romantic story (it's still exaggerated and unrealistic in terms of its depiction of a hospice ward, but oh well).
insani released a translation, hence the attention from the English-speaking public.

why is it so heavily anticipated.

Yeah it's really short. While I was checking the file I upped to our server on spyware and stuff I noticed that actualy the biggest thing in the demo is the op video lol.
Ah btw, you can download all the stuff from our site, the Japanese servers are slower than slow lol. Reconquista was added too.
The neko thing in the little busters trial is hilarious :)
Anyone heard the op single by chance? It's awesome!

I sorta heard that gripe from others who have played the demo as well. 196 MBs for the demo, and the OP video takes up a greater part of it (130 MBs?). No wonder they only managed to fit that much of the story...
Can't wait to see more of Kud though. :heh:
Oh, and note to self: Do not use pastries to fight against people armed with sansetsukon. Durability is unassured.

On a semi eroge-unrelated note, the official website for Ar Tonelico 2 (http://ar-tonelico.jp/at2/) has been revamped yet again. A few new characters and a changed start page, to name a few.
It's a pretty much good thing when you can listen to the BGM for hours on end without getting tired of it. Just makes you feel like going on an adventure~

Not that I'm nitpicking on Key or anything, nor am I seeing too many patterns between their works.. but I'm expecting to see cute girls that each have their own special backstory (from seemingly normal to absolutely magical).
Wait, I'm already seeing the "cute girls" part. :heh:
Also, at least one of them has to have a certain relationship with the protagonist prior to the story.
Last but not the least, at least of the girls should have a very cute catchphrase... just like Ayu's "Uguu~", Makoto's "Auuu~" and Misuzu's "Gao~". If we can't have that, an unusual habit would also do (like Nagisa's habit of saying the names of foods she would like to eat). :)
Anything like that in the demo so far?

Nope the only girl in the demo is Rin and she's kind of a Tsundere type, but i wouldn't be to shocked if Komari does something like that...
Well about the fighting, we haven't seen Riki fight yet so it might work differently then but i highly doubt it.
Also, at least one of them has to have a certain relationship with the protagonist prior to the story.
We already have that one though, Rin is Riki's childhood friend.

Considering the protagonist didn't actually battle in the demo, and looking at the stats screen, I think there's a good chance some interactive battles will occur.

Yes, an H-Game has to have actual gameplay for me to consider it beyond a CG pack download.

If it looks like that in motion, I'd say they're doing pretty well to stay true to the game art. IMO, of course. It'll never look exactly like the CGs.
Of course, it will take one big of a hella of an effort for the animators to properly animate any of Naru Nanao's designs (Da Capo animes and sola comes to mind). It is a good thing that SHAFT do not choose to butcher the designs any way they like (Negima!? comes to mind).
Good job SHAFT, you convinced me this time.
Are there any major issues with SHAFT? I've never watched their shows, but they seem far more reputable than most studios doing eroge to anime adaptations (which are usually quite bad. Even top-sellers like Tsuyokiss and Yoake Mae Yori Ruri Iro Na got poor treatment). That can only be a good thing, although quality is never guaranteed.

Seeing that it's a pretty old game it's not a surprise to not see it in most stores. You can email them and see if they can find anymore or your best bet is to check out Yahoo Auctions or any other auction site. Good luck.
There should be a re-release of Triangle Heart 1 and 2 made compatible for Vista coming out later this month. That one should be available for purchase.

I don't think even they would attempt do CGish art. It just looks really awkard in motion such that when they companies attempt it in game openings.....well have a look at what they usually do http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHyyXY8tCWA. Do you really want that? It's not really feasible to try and have full blown CG characters animated.
Agreed. Just the way the characters move their lips in the game. God, it looks odd O_o I prefer animation stlye :)
@KCT: Even when it's KyoAni. Better quality=higher production costs. You have to find a compromise between quality and costs.
-Nyu-: Very, very true, otherwise the costs will be much more than what we see on the already high development costs for the game. I'm hoping that the animation would be at least low in terms of QUALITY moments.

SHAFT is a good choice imo. They have a good key animators in-house. As long as they don't outsource their work, the quality of animation shouldn't be of any worry.
Story wise, Ef is fairly easy to adapt into an anime since it lacks multiple heroines/arcs. If they plan to run one season, chances are that it'll cover Miyako's scenario (which I liked the most ^^).

Still in the common route, but my impression so far has been very good. Great cast of supporting characters, gripping SF/action storyline, beautiful CGs, the list goes on. Quite possibly one of the top ten best titles out this year. I'll post a short review once I finish Natsuki's scenario. (Heroine you see above.)

Prior to release, minori mentioned that they declined all anime offers that had been pitched at the time. However, my assumption was that they were hoping to attract higher bids once the game took the galge world by storm. Actual market performance (if it's impressive) gives you a much more valuable bargaining chip.

Hmm.. I like the way the Nozomu/Nozomi/Satsuki love triangle plays out..
Nozomu's too dense to sense Nozomi's love for him (probably due to their longtime sister-brother relationship).
Nozomi seems to have a slight inferiority complex to her senior, Satsuki, who thinks of her as a cute sister, a rival.. and a cute rival.
Finally, Satsuki does have feelings for Nozomu, but he probably doesn't realize this yet, because of the age gap...
Yuuto was the type of guy that just wanted to get home, save the ones he love while he's at it and be done with everything.. though he did become a total hero in the end. Wonder what would Nozomu's fate be?
Erhjegel
2007-06-07, 07:31
Probably similar to Yuuto's, or maybe even more - after all, the fate of several worlds is tied to his destiny (or somewhat close to it).

Just browsing through a few imageboards, and I came across a wallpaper for Alice Parade (http://www.softpal.co.jp/unisonshift/products/project16/main.html) (from Unisonshift). The Noizi Itou art was enough for me to trackback to the website and check the stuff in there.
Also, seems like it's going to be some Alice In Wonderland parody, with the usual gameplot tweak and Noizi Art rendition. There's a Mad Hatter (Funny), March Hare (Luna), Dormouse (Yamane), White Rabbit (Silk), Cheshire Cat (Neko), Soldier of Hearts/Ace to 10s (Rouge13 ) and the Queen of Hearts (Lavinia).
And there's that wierd Jack/Knave of Hearts (Emudori)...:heh:
Oddly enough, there were two characters with the Alice namesake... one's probably the titular lead girl, while the other one's a sharp looking lad. He's holding a notebook of sorts.. It sorta reminds me of people who direct plays... a hint, perhaps?
Lastly.. I have to say, the've got quite a nice character relationship chart there. :)
Wish someone would TL all that though.:heh:

On another note, a full CG trailer of GIGA's new upcoming game, Baldr Bullet Equilibrium (http://www.alchemist-net.co.jp/products/bbe/index.html), which seems to be a direct sequel to Baldr Bullet REVELLION. (The latter was actually a remake for one of GIGA's early games, Baldr Bullet.)

Years of watching anime and a certain love of the Japanese language can be a good drive in order to play games. Though, you'll still need help if you're not adequately adept at reading/understanding Japanese.
That, and lots of context clues from the game itself, probably. I guess you can detect the mood of conversation from the voice-overs and such.
Aw hell, don't take it from me.
Just a small thought... I remember someone telling me "Instead of waiting for someone to translate something to you, use that time to learn the language yourself.". I guess it's easier that way.:heh:
