Harukazedorini, Tomarigio.
Skyfish's second project. Very different from their last work, Shirogane no Soleil. First impressions from the demo is promising. As expected, there is a high level of production and polish, the art direction and designs are simply breathtaking. Download the OP from Getchu or the main site to see for yourself. Now that Garden was delayed, that's the only of this week's games I'm vaguely interested in and that only because it's from the authors of NorthWind (didn't care about their other stuff though), if the scores are gonna be 80+ on EGS I might bite, that one guy that played it said it's 'crying game' with good atmosphere and scenario.

I think I know what this means but I need someone else with better Japanese to confirm my suspicions for me:

http://meroq.net/drac/drac_dragonage.htmlWell, it says that a manga based on the upcoming (2008/02) Interchannel PS2 game Kyuuketsu Kitan Moon Ties (http://www.interchannel.jp/game/moonties/) is starting in Dragon Age Pure volume 7 (released last week).

Ah, I see. Thanks.

Moon Ties (as in ties to the moon, not moonties, I've come to realize) is...... I'm not sure. I think it's an all-ages version of Draculius with a couple of new characters.

And yeah, sounds like your typical PS2 port; all-ages + new characters. The manga tie-in fits the bill too... though seems like they'll be skipping on the anime. :p

From last week's releases, I preordered Tsunagaru Bangle and am going to grab Boku ga Sadame, Kimi ni wa Tsubasa wo. whenever I get some extra cash.

Bokusada got me thanks to the small part of the demo I've played, along with the OMGNICE artwork. Looking forward to that.

Tsunagaru Bangle, on the other hand, hooked me with Shizuku. Too damned cute...

Same as North Wind, eh? I'm a fair bit more interested, then.

Not really much for nakige, but variety in my collection is always nice. o/

Also, I've finally 100% finished off Alicematic. :>
I'll just say that Iori's path was Super Awesome, and leave it at that.

ドラクリウス

Romanji: Draculius

Company: めろめろキュート ("meromero cute")

Release Date: May 25th, 2007

Official site: http://meroq.net/drac/drac_hp_news.html

Getchu: http://www.getchu.com/soft.phtml?id=335065

D-Dream: http://pm.d-dream.com/detail.php?arg_tno=4327

(Not safe for work. I also highly recommend not visiting these sites as they contain some images that are spoilerific)

Relatively little-known--it seems--game from meromero cute that came out earlier this year. Today I finally finished the entire game after around 42 to 60 hours of gameplay, over the course of about a week.

It is made of WIN and AWESOME SAUCE.

That's the short version. The long version has been spoiler-boxed for space, images, and convenience:

Welcome to the world of Draculius. Vampires live secretly in the modern world, and the game takes place in Japan, of course, in a small city somewhere within. The story centers around our male protagonist, Ogishima Jun, who lives an ordinary life of a high school student, when suddenly his world is turned upside down by the appearance of Elshlant D. Annoyance, a vampire housemaid sent by the Brandle royal family to inform him of his secret heritage. And this is only the very beginning.

Interesting thing about vampires in this game are that their physiology and capabilities are far from traditional vampire lore, but their style, atmosphere, and feel adhere to classical vampire portrayals, which is a pretty interesting result the creators of the game have accomplished.

Cast of Characters

http://xs220.xs.to/xs220/07433/char_jun1.jpg

荻島 潤 (Ogishima Jun)

Our protagonist. Armed with clever wits, long hair, and the face of a girl's, he has lived alone in a house his long-deceased mother has left him and has been living the life of an ordinary high school student. That is until one day the vampire housemaid, Elshlant D. Annoyance, shows up at his doorstep with a letter from his paternal grandfather, Brian Brandle. Jun learns that his father, Id Demon Brandle, is the missing successor to the Brandle clan, the royal family of vampires. His father got tired of the vampire aristocrat's life and ran away to live a human life, falling in love with Ogishima Yukari, Jun's mother. Some time after Yukari's pregnancy, Id Brandle went missing, and Ogishima Yukari, a miko, placed a magical seal upon Jun before his birth in order to prevent his vampiric half from manifesting. Ever since Yukari's death, this seal has been gradually weaknening and it is at this point when the seal is on the brink of collapse that the Brandle family decides to offer Jun the chance to join the world of vampires as the official heir to the Brandle family, now that his father, Id Brandle, is missing, presumed dead. The Brandle family makes this offer to Jun under three conditions: 1) That Jun become a vampire suitable to being called the heir to the Brandle family. 2) That Elshlant D. Annoyance be sent to live in Jun's house as a maid and to serve as an evaluator to determine when Jun has fulfilled condition 1. And lastly 3) that Jun choose a bride from among a selection of possible suitors hailing from various aristocratic vampire families.

Personality-wise, Jun is somewhat reserved, and well-known for his gentleness among his schoolmates. He has a very quick mind and can swiftly come up with plans and deductions from various situation. He also enjoys teasing people from time to time, and is popular with the girls of the school although he doesn't really care. He dislikes the idea of hurting or killing someone, but treasures people he considers close to him and will act as necessary to protect them.

Quite different from most male protagonists. His quick mind and wittiness, plus the fact that he isn't initially that interested in women but aren't phobic of them either like many other leads are gives him further pluses. It's nice to watch him come up with all sorts of creative ways to get out of sticky situations.

エルシェラント・ディ・アノイアンス (Elshlant D. Annoyance)

Whatever you're thinking about her name, I'm sure I was thinking the exact same thing too when I first saw/heard it :D. A second blood vampire, basically a vampire that used to be human and was turned into one by a first blood or shinso, vampires that were born vampires. Is a familiar/child vampire (how do you translate "kenzoku"?) to Id Brandle, and has lived and served the Brandle family as a maid for over 180 years. She now serves Jun as his familiar and housemaid. Has a pretty hefty reputation and history amongst many humans as the "Witch of Cries" and many others, and is an expert magic user and hand-to-hand combatant. She is also an expert at healing and magical surgery. Her body is currently loli-sized due to some magical complications and to conserve energy. Jun calls her Belche, because she feels a little uncomfortable with people calling her by her first name like her original master, Id Brandle, did.

As one who has lived for longer than 180 years, she is very knowledgeable about not just things like vampire physiology and history, but of life in general, and gives off the impression of an all-knowing grandmother, gentle yet stern when necessary. Becomes a rock-solid pillar of knowldge and support for Jun during this time of great change in his life.

There's no real character stereotype to describe Belche. She's like a mother or grandmother, but with none of the negatives. A superb personality portrayal of someone who has lived for longer than human lifespans, in my view. Her interactions with the other characters are great to watch as she teaches them some life lessons one moment and then starts scolding them the next. ;)

http://xs220.xs.to/xs220/07433/char_rika1.jpg

リカ・ペンブルトン (Rika Pembleton)

An American from the state of Minnesota who transfers into Jun's class. Secretly she is an agent from Dailas Lean, a secret global organization dedicated to the extermination of vampires, whose members are derived from orphans all around the world. Think nuns with guns, without the religious bit. Her orders are to observe and if necessary, terminate Jun. An expert with a wide variety of firearms and explosives.

She's be the tsundere of the game, if you had to pick one, although she's in many ways different from the usual tsundere. Loud, hotblooded, quick to act without thinking, not very feminine, and not very sociable. Believes strongly in the concept of justice and serving Dailas Lean is her justice and reason to live. Impulsive, a little immature, and sometimes a little slow on the uptake, but possesses nearly unstoppable determination when she's committed to something.

What can one say? Hot, fiery, cute, hilarious, and badass to boot. Plus her voice acting is totally win---though pretty much everyone's voice acting in this game is great.

http://xs220.xs.to/xs220/07433/rika2.jpg.xs.jpg (http://xs.to/xs.php?h=xs220&d=07433&f=rika2.jpg) http://xs120.xs.to/xs120/07433/rika1.jpg.xs.jpg (http://xs.to/xs.php?h=xs120&d=07433&f=rika1.jpg)

http://xs120.xs.to/xs120/07433/char_rian1.jpg

リアン・ルーチェ・ディメルモール (Rian Luche Dimemorl)

The fourth daughter of a vampire aristocrat from Britain, and one of the marriage candidates for Jun. Out of sheer curiosity and for fun she travels to Japan and transfers into Jun's class one month ahead of schedule, and also moves into Jun's house as his fiance, a role which she takes to with much gusto, much to Jun's bewilderment. A first blood vampire like Jun. Every vampire develops a special ability at some point during their lives, and Rian's is the "Brain Tyrant," which allows her to read and manipulate other people's minds and is unique to her alone.

An ojou-sama character at the base, but all similarities blur or end there. She is playful and mischievous, and a little childish in mentality. She often has trouble associating with ordinary humans and seeing things from their point of view. Typically has a good amount of self-confidence and pride. Quick to emotional extremes and quick to argue with other cast members. Also sometimes pretty slow on the uptake, and dislikes people making fun of her for that and any other reasons.

A totally adorable ojou-sama with practically none of the flaws that usually come with that character type. Has a very playful kind of mood about herself as mentioned, and shifts frequently back and forth from childish to elegant. Possesses none of the usual unbearable arrogance that one might see in common ojou-sama characters, and quickly and genuinely apologizes when at fault. You can't even say she's tolerable because there's nothing at all to find intolerable about her to begin with. She starts out seeming like an ordinary and somewhat shallow ojou-sama type and grows over time into a truly likeable character with depth and personality.

(I loooooove that expression of hers and you will laugh too when you watch the scene where that expression comes from. :heh: )

http://xs220.xs.to/xs220/07433/char_zeno1.jpg

ゼノ・ジェイルバーン (Zeno Jailsbern)

A lycanthrope, basically a werewolf, and Rian's familiar, and maid and bodyguard. Expert in melee combat, stealth, and detecting/hunting down enemies, on top of her various housemaid-related skills. Has been Rian's companion since childhood.

Very reserved, quiet, speaks in a subdued voice that feels monotone. Extremely loyal to Rian and to those who gain her trust, and will lay down her life for her mistress if ordered to. Gentle to those she considers friends and family, and merciless to all she considers her enemy. Very "my pace" and eccentric as well, with strange points of view and interesting things to say at times. Is considered a dog, which she pretty much is in a sense.

Total. Badass. Seriously gives Chuck Norris a run for his money. Well, a lot of ero-game characters can give Chuck Norris a run for his money. But are they also a super-sexy werewolf meido with a fascination for tsundere jokes and scenarios and bi-lingual wordgags? ;) I can easily see her having many fans.

http://xs120.xs.to/xs120/07433/zeno1.jpg.xs.jpg (http://xs.to/xs.php?h=xs120&d=07433&f=zeno1.jpg) http://xs120.xs.to/xs120/07433/rian4.jpg.xs.jpg (http://xs.to/xs.php?h=xs120&d=07433&f=rian4.jpg)

http://xs120.xs.to/xs120/07433/char_ces1.jpg

ヴィスケス (Viskes, full name: Viskes Granchester)

A Dailas Lean commander and Rika's direct superior and sempai when Rika was much younger. A mysterious woman with mysterious motives and an equally mysterious personality.

http://xs120.xs.to/xs120/07433/char_misao1.jpg

高柳 操 (Takayanagi Misao)

One of Jun's childhood friends, attends the same school and same class. A little slow (quite a few people in this game are kinda slow at times :p ) and very energetic. Comes over to Jun's house every morning and walks to and from school together. Very competitive and hates to lose, and easily gets into arguements with other people. Has a big crush on Jun. Draws manga (often involving Jun). Also shares an important characteristic with a certain Watarase Jun from Happiness. ;)

http://xs220.xs.to/xs220/07433/misao1.jpg.xs.jpg (http://xs.to/xs.php?h=xs220&d=07433&f=misao1.jpg)

http://xs220.xs.to/xs220/07433/group1.jpg

Kanami Shuuji (on the right; I couldn't get a good picture of him off the web)

Another of Jun's close friends. Captain of the kendo club. Lives with four sisters (all of whom hold big crushes on Jun :heh: ), and therefore gives Jun advice on women from time to time. A cool, reliable type of person eager to help Jun out whenever help is needed.

http://xs220.xs.to/xs220/07433/group2.jpg

Mizuno Kanako

The former class president of Jun's class, but everyone still calls her 'iincho,' much to her protest. The smart, reliable, and orderly type of person. Would like Jun to pay more attention to his grades and take life more seriously.

End Cast of Characters

There's several other minor characters as well, but I decided not to go over them for now.

In any case, all the characters are made of many levels of awesome sauce, and become even more win as the story goes on and grow in depth and maturity as the game plays on. There's a palpable sense of growth and development from beginning to the end within our heroes and heroines.

It's also worth noting that this is one of a very small number of games that feature a main cast made up almost entirely of foreign characters. The spoken Engrish is pretty bad here like in most other games :heh: but the creators apparently knew enough English to make a lot of great language barrier jokes. Some of them are really creative. :D

And what makes this even better is that the creators even took into account the different cultures and dialects between the different English-speaking countries. Rika is American, Rian and Zeno are British, and Belche is apparently from Dublin, Ireland. A lot of jokes and insults are hurled from one end of the Western World to the other in this game, and it gets extremely funny when they start commenting on each other's command (or the lack of) of the Japanese language. :heh: :heh:

I did mention tsundere jokes in my Zeno section, correct? Yep, this game plays around with and makes frequent fun of the tsundere concept. ;)

It helps that the plot is quite excellent as well, with all events from beginning to end tied together in purpose and relationship. The story brings up some interesting questions and themes on vampires and their existences and lives, of the relationships between man and vampire and so on. It also brings up what kind of sense of morality a vampire might possess, and of what's important to a vampire compared to a human, and the consequences of such long lives that vampires lead.

Speaking of plot, the game is different from most ADV games in that it doesn't have a selection of heroines for you to choose from and play through in the traditional sense. There are two story routes: the Rian End, and the True End. The Rian End is short, about I guess around 13 hours, 14 max. It's more light-hearted, and more sexually-oriented. A little shallow too, to be honest, and underwhelming. You get only Rian or Rian+Zeno in the end. Not even a real ending really, since it stops abruptly with a h-scene and then the credits roll, no epilogue or anything. The Rian+Zeno end h-scene is really raunchy though. :p

I played through the Rian and Rian+Zeno routes first. I'm not sure what the purpose of those routes are, but they're there if you want to play through them. If you do decide to go through the Rian/Rian+Zeno route, then an IMPORTANT NOTE: When you pass the ending h-scene and the ending credits start to roll, quickly drag the game window towards the bottom of your monitor so that you can't see the various CGs they show during the credits. Those CGs they roll during the credits are EXTREME SPOILERS, so if you don't want to be spoiled to the true route, then for the love of all that is good, save yourselves and move that game window towards the bottom when the ED credits roll. You CANNOT skip the ED when you first see it.

This game has only a very small number of route choices, and there is one choice selection that decides which route you take---the Rian/Rian+Zeno one or the true route---and all the choices leading up to that one are the same for either route. When you get to this screen:

http://xs120.xs.to/xs120/07433/choice1.jpg.xs.jpg (http://xs.to/xs.php?h=xs120&d=07433&f=choice1.jpg)

Pick the first option if you want to proceed down the Rian/Rian+Zeno route. Otherwise, go with the second option to get the true ending.

What is the true ending, you ask? Remember that they call these games "visual novels." Draculius pretty much fits that description; you get only one more choice screen down the road and then nothing else until the end of the game. Just sit back and enjoy the ride.

And what a ride it is. I'm not certain what the average length of a story route in most games is, but Draculius' true ending took me at least 42 hours to finish. And it's 42 hours of pure win and awesome sauce. The game wastes no time grabbing a tight hold of your interest within the first game day. And then the game gets good. And then it gets awesome. And then it finally transcends into a flying, hypersonic train powered by awesome sauce dropping awesome-nukes on cities and people below. The pacing is pretty much nearly perfect; long conversations are long for good reasons, and short ones are kept short, and the game never feels too long or too short.

You can forget about the Rian route and just start off into the true route on your first playthrough if you wish and you'd be perfectly fine, and the only consequence would be that you'd be irrecoverably spoiled now when you go to try the Rian route. :D

Maybe I'm exaggerating a bit, and comparisons don't always work, but I daresay I enjoyed this game more than I enjoyed Prism Ark, and that's a hefty thing to say, although they're both really close in my book.

The game is pretty low-budget, so some of the awesomeness is lost unless you really imagine what it must be like, but with a high-budget anime adaptation...wow. And there wouldn't be any problems or confusion involved in picking which girl's route to follow or whatever. There's only the true route, and all the events and interactions are spelled out so it'd be easy for a studio to build a plot out of.

Right now that's a pipe dream since meromero cute isn't a Key or Leaf-like company, but for now I hope this post got you interested in the game. And I hope you get as much enjoyment out of it as I did. :)

Usually I'm not into Eroge in general but this looks like a promising game to try. Plus, Rian is <3

Somebody spoil me! What happens to Sayane at the end of her route in Alicematic?

Dark Lord Zenigame

Without getting into the details, Sayane and Kuroudo get married, and all the other girls were her bridesmaids. ^_^;;

Unfortunately, her time won't be very long since she has some kind of heart sickness that will wind up killing her eventually. Despite that, they decided to live it up for as long as they can together.

So it was both happy and sad...

sigh you guys :p i already post on the forums during my breaks in between while making mountains of homework,
let stand that i have time for a project like playing a H game xD

'n im embarrest enough im warching H already every now n then outa curiousity :X
its n0t right for me to do! yup ! :X tho i gotta watch something when theres no more normal animes to watch couse ive seen all the eps that are out :X!

anyways jya ne! its gettin late again n i wanna get up early tomorrow for a change! :p

You don't need to play HGames if you don't want to.

Many story-focused hgames - when they are popular enough - not only are turned into anime shows, but they are ported to all-age console games, too.

For instance, FATE/STAY NIGHT and UTAWARERUMONO both had PS2-game versions released. The HIRAMEKI-INT (http://www.hirameki-int.com/) company is releasing many translated all-age bishojo games, too. Give a try.

Dark Lord Zenigame
2007-10-30, 16:08
And you can always hold down the Ctrl button to skip the H if you want.

It's what I do... :p

@bbal_machine

Not bad. I don't see too many (homemade?) visual novels nowadays. There are even trailers. ^^
I wonder if those were done by a group effort or something?

On an unrelated note, Fortune Arterial (http://www.august-soft.com/fa/index.html) just got a definite release date some time ago. January 25, 2008.

No problem, my friend. You works have the kind of originality we never found in any other works and the story (especially TSOA) is top notch.

Looking forward to read more from you. :D

A follow-up to Shinova's Draculius hype:

Famitsu posted (http://www.famitsu.com/game/coming/1211608_1407.html?ref=rss) new screenshots and the regular edition cover of an upcoming REMAKE of the Draculius game under the title Kyuuketsu Kitan - Moon Ties (吸血奇譚 ムーンタイズ). The news entry only mentions that the upcoming game will use Draculius' characters and setting.

The "regular" edition was released the 26th of October, but I can't figure out what's the difference between that and the initial version.

Hm....

my favourite Eroge at the moment is Yume Miru Kusuri (A drug that makes you dream).

I've played quite a lot (heavy visual novels included) but I didn't loved them as I loved Yume Miru Kusuri.

But that opinion could change ONLY if I could play Kiminozo and MuvLuv.... the anime game text hooker works awfully bad with those games (because they have another encryption or so I heard).

I also wanted to play Raspberry but the hooker was only screwing around the translations, it wasn't translating at all, not even shuffled words so I could get the meaning of what was happening.

Well, I've finally finished the games that I stupidly started at the same time, and have gotten around to the first on my "not installed yet" queue, Hidamari.

Really good for Axl's first official game, and it's funny as hell. Now I'm interested in their other games... anyone here played them? If the style's the same as in Hidamari, then I'll probably wind up grabbing all of them. o/

I have played about half of "Koisuru Otome to Shugo no Tate", AXL's latest game. I've played only a little of Hidamari, but Koitate kept my attention longer and better. Koitate's a pretty fun game too.

I've heard that the game right before Koitate wasn't that good. I don't know about Tutorial Summer.

Hm....

my favourite Eroge at the moment is Yume Miru Kusuri (A drug that makes you dream).

I'd expect your favourite game is higurashi from your avatar and sig, no?:D

Here's a conundrum. I have a bunch of erogames I only played part-way and then dabbled into another different erogame. The question is, should I finish the oldest ones first, or should I finish the ones that I'm most currently interested in finishing but are more recent?

Hmm... when I read a book, I'd rather finish it in one go, rather than stopping somewhere, then going back to the spot where I stopped. It kinda interrupts the "flow" of the story for me, if it takes me too long to read the remainder. That's why I just keep on reading. And for me, that also applies to games. :D

Anyway, that was just my $0.02. I wonder how ToHeart2 Another Days is coming along....

The bright side to that is that one of them, my oldest and very first game actually, is Cross Channel which is a total joy to play and a pretty famous game. On the other hand, I wanna play Little Busters and then something like ExE or Lyical Lyric. Argh, the hard choices in life.

I started playing Wind -a breath of heart- 2 weeks ago. I think I sort of shot myself in the foot by not following NNL's recommended endgame order so I'll be redoing Minamo's path RIGHT FROM THE VERY BEGINNING (since I jumped from Hinata's path to Minamo's) as soon as I'm finish the endings for the Fujimiyas and Hikari.

I'm also holding off on watching any more episodes of the Wind anime UNTIL I finish Hikari's endgame.

I'm currently playing Little Busters and Bra-Ban. Both really good nice though, after playing ExE (From the same same company as Bra-Ban) the later felt less interesting since its just normal school life story while ExE has some really good fictions elements added to it.

About Little Busters, can't stop laughing at every new situation. Excellent game.

Chewy, may I ask for a link to the website of the game in your sig?

I finished playing Soshite Ashita no Sekai Yori's demo today.

At first I was kind of bored; the demo just dragged on through this somewhat stiff life of an eroge protagonist. Instead of showing us more pretty pictures of the island, Subaru just had to dive into these boring descriptions of its beauty over and over again, but that proved useful when the premise hit hard and almost unexpectedly.
Yuuhi and Aoba made it on my priority list. I've always liked tomboys, though I wonder how far they can take Yuuhi's development. Will they show us the scary "the world is ending, I'm gonna die" sides of their personalities? Especially Yuuhi... I really want to see her dark side. ww I wonder if she'll remain this tiny cute little decoration or... D:

BTW, lately I was karaoke'ing some game OP videos and one of those was also AsuSeka's. Posted (http://stage6.divx.com/user/LytHka/videos/) them on Stage6 if you guys care to take a look.

The game comes out on 11/22/2007. The OST that's mentioned actually comes with the limited edition of the game.

I FINALLY hit the interesting part of the demo. Minami's reaction (or lack of a reaction) is the best so far. Too bad the demo ends soon after. Looking forward to the full version. I want see panic, I want to see fear, I want to see denial, and I want to see the darkness and desperation that ensues. I don't want something like "I accept it, now let's spend the rest of our time holding hands". Unfortunately, I have a feeling the latter is more likely.....

Nowadays, Maeda is gone (maybe?), Kataoka is not really active, Romeo keeps producing one mine after another, and Age is not really doing anything expect expanding its muvluv franchise. That is why everyone puts their hopes on guys like 丸戸, 健速 and るーすぼーい to lead the nakige part of the erogame world. That's why everyone is expecting AsuSeka and devil on G-string :heh:

Both Dies Irae and Littlewitch's Period got delayed 'till 20th of December. Which is good since November will be kinda crowdy when it comes to eroge releases.

Another November game that was probably mentioned before though I totally overlooked it is PurpleSoft's Ashita no Kimi to Autame ni / Till I Reach Your Tomorrow (http://www.purplesoftware.jp/news/new/index.html) I usually don't care about their stuff but this one has some (ex-)minori writers behind it that wrote ef and Haru no Ashioto. Well, I've kept on cruising through my backlog, having finished Hidamari on Tuesday.

It was pretty good, though I was NOT expecting the scary shit that happens at the later part of the game. I know it's full of ghost posession, but the first half makes it seem like such a happy game... and then it all goes to hell.

The Bad End of Haruka's route was creepy as all hell, and Yuki's was even worse. Just... gaah.

For anyone who intends to play, I suggess to do the paths with those two first. Haruka has Scary Thing A, which is pretty bad, but Yuki's Scary Thing B is far, far worse. The other routes have them as well, but tend to cross and reveal the identity of both too early to get the full "HOLY SHIT" effect through. ^_^;;

Now I'm playing ExE, which is made of awesome. Really.

Funny stuff is funny, action stuff is suspenseful, and the plottwist regarding Touya's mother, though kind of expected, still gave me a bit of a shock. o/

Makina is cute, and Natsuki is love. :>

くらげ~ くらげ~

Oh, and Kageomi was a Super Badass for the five seconds I've seen of him.

Oh yeah. Graah at そして明日の世界より. I was really looking forward to it, and then the plottwist happened and now I can't buy it since depressing games make me all depressed. :<

Just finished playing Bra-Ban. I enjoyed every part of it but, ExE is still better.

Yuki is without a doubt my favorite character! After her there is a tie between Ebi err... (:heh:) Minase and Tae leaving Sumi and Noriko in last place.

All the routes were over the average. My favorite would be Sumi's while my less favorite would be Noriko's but, her epilogue was the best out of the five :D

So, a little (edit: okay, not so little) post about Windmill's Tsunagaru★Bangle. It's definitely in the running for my favourite game of the year.

Tsunagaru★Bangle is just a ton of fun -- it's colourful, vibrant, full of energy, funny, and just enjoyable. Even in the serious parts, it never gets too serious, but still pulls you in thanks to its fun cast and nice storyline. All in all, I'd say it's a little more "H" than Happiness in both the PG-13 and "18+" parts, but like I said, they keep everything light and fun. And Yuka's the cutest little bundle of energy I've seen in... well, a very long time.

Plot Intro:
Kouta Narumi has always loved exploring, and one day, as he's exploring the Queen Emmy (the ship that's also their school), he bumps into a girl with long brown hair dropping from the ceiling! After watching her curious and dangerous-seeming behaviour for a bit, he realizes that she's an adventure-lover too! So, they decide to partner together in search of treasure. Donning her sketchbook that she uses to map out her adventures, and a key passed down from her late grandfather, they search the ship and eventually stumble upon a secret room. Using the key to open the door, they go inside and discover a treasure map; they can barely contain their excitement! The girl realizes that her grandfather must have wanted her to find this map, and wonders what they'll find... but the chime rings, and it's time for everyone to go home. As they head out, they realize that they're both very similar; they've both been exploring on their own for a long time, and it's the first time they've ever met someone they had so much in common with. They thank each other for the really fun time spent together, and head home. Only later he realizes that they were so into it that they forgot to ask each other their names! :heh:

The next day at school, there's a new transfer student, and sure enough, it's Kouta's exploring partner! She's Yuka Ichinose and, along with Kouta's somewhat-unwilling scaredy-cat childhood friend Maho Mochizuki and their mischievous fun-loving friend and classmate Juri Yunagi, they set off in search of Yuka's grandfather's treasure, and soon find their fates bound together in more ways than one. The "heart-connecting" adventure game, Tsunagaru★Bangle!

Main Characters (for reference (http://windmill.suki.jp/product/7th/7th_character.html))
Kouta Narumi:
The story's protagonist. He's always looking for adventure, and when he's not exploring around school or town, you might find him hanging out at his "secret base" (a treehouse in the forest). A bit impulsive but pretty well-grounded. Maho's childhood friend.

Yuka Ichinose:
The story's "lead heroine", whose fateful encounter with Kouta sets everything in motion. Like Kouta, she loves to explore, and since arriving in town she can always be found exploring the town with her trusty map searching for secrets and treasures. Very energetic and easily excitable, she'll jump at any opportunity to try something new, different, and fun. Seems to have lived a bit of a lonely life until now, and lacks a lot of experiences everyone else would consider "normal". Her exuberance and kindness allow her to make friends easily, even if they are somewhat amazed by her incredible naivety. :heh:

Loves: Exploring, Adventure, New Experiences, her late grandfather
Hates: Large animals (like bears...)
Reminds me of: (A super-hyper version of) Suzu from Nagasarete Airantou

Maho Mochizuki:
Kouta's very-well-endowed childhood friend. She more than obviously has a "thing" for him, but can't bring herself to confess. Although she's an excellent cook, she's a bit of a scaredy-cat; while getting dragged along on Kouta and Yuka's little adventures, she just can't wait for it to be all over! Often teased by Juri not only for her breasts, but for having a bit of a perverted and overly-active imagination, especially when it comes to Kouta!

Loves: Cooking, Cute things, Kouta
Hates: Anything scary or dangerous
Reminds me of: (A more eccentric/excitable version of) Koko from D.C. II

Juri Yunagi:
Maho's best friend, and long-time classmate of both her and Kouta. Although she comes from a relatively well-to-do family, she's no princess; she enjoys causing mischief, teasing people, and doing things that seem fun or interesting. Anyone easily-embarrassed will soon find themselves a target of Juri's special brand of teasing, especially Maho and "Tsunocchi" (Shizuku). Despite all that, though, she's clever, resourceful, and good judge of people, and is able to offer wise advice in times of need. Her research and computer skills prove helpful. Her playful, mischievous nature hides her mature femininity.

Loves: Teasing people, Taking photos of Maho
Hates: Being bored?
Reminds me of: Akane from D.C. II/Jun from Happiness

Shizuku Tsunomiya:
A second year student, but also the school's director?! She's the daughter of a wealthy family, and is always accompanied by her loyal, personal maid, Itsuki. Most remarkable for her rather... diminuative stature in every dimension... everyone can't help but find her cute as a button. This annoys her greatly, though, as she's a prideful well-to-do lady, and you had better not forget it! Though short-tempered and set in her ways, she immediately turns in to "deredere mode" when drinking milk or eating Itsuki's famous hotcakes. She also finds herself fighting against Kouta, Yuka and the others in their magical treasure hunt.

Loves: Milk, Itsuki's hotcakes
Hates: Being treated as a child
Reminds me of: Nagi from Hayate no Gotoku/Ibuki from Happiness

Itsuki Fujikura:
Shizuku's loyal, personal maid that accompanies her wherever she goes. Seems to be "practically perfect in every way"; kind, courteous, resourceful, and good at everything she does. Possibly so loyal to Shizuku simply because she finds her so very cute. Often carries a large bag on her back with various items (often magical or destructive) of use to Shizuku. Stays level-headed in times of conflict or trouble... except if Shizuku's threatened or in danger... in which case, you'd better watch out!

Loves: Shizuku
Hates: Anything that hurts Shizuku or puts her in danger
Reminds me of: Maria from Hayate no Gotoku/Belldandy from Ah! My Goddess
Like I said on the frontend, what struck me the most about this game is how full of energy it was. Everything just screams fun and excitement, even excessively so at times. This is definitely everything I hoped for and more from the writers who brought us (the also excellent) Happiness!

I think it would be fair to say that, because of the light-hearted nature, the whole game feels less "mature" than a lot of other titles on the market. The characters, for the most part, act a little young for their age; they still have a lot of naivety and "childhood wonder" about the world around them. The world seems like a fun and exciting place, and that's exactly the feeling I'm sure the writers hoped to convey. I suppose that some might be turned off by the "silliness" and "childishness" of it all (if they prefer stories to be more weighty and serious), but I didn't mind. This is the first game I've tackled after Clear (which got pretty serious and weighty), so I liked the change of pace.

One of the differences between this and Happiness is that the game's plot is centered on interactions between the whole cast. Most of the game is spent with the whole crew together, rather than segmenting off into individual paths too early on. I felt like this may have been a lesson/change inspired by the Happiness anime, that often remixed game events (or wrote new events) to feature the whole crew together. But this is, of course, also true to the game's main themes of friendship and connectedness. It's also worth pointing out that, with the stronger focus on the 5 main heroines, there aren't very many other sub-characters to speak of. This again contributes to a tighter, more "connected"-feeling story.

I also mentioned in the opening comments that I thought this game was a bit more "H" than Happiness. This is pretty obvious early on, as they don't waste any time to give you a number of fanservice CGs, and have some very suggestive conversations (including one scene, after they got the bangles, where Maho's um... in the bath by herself, and she's washing herself, and... did I mention she has a bit of a dirty mind? Yeah, that's when they discovered that... oops, thanks to the bangle, they can hear each other telepathically now... what exactly were you doing in there, Maho? :heh: ) Most of the dirty jokes are breast jokes, mostly centered around Maho of course (too easy to tease!). Another famous joke is the "oppai ramen" shop (where the quality of the food is tied to your bust size, and the master yells out "oppai, oppai!") - it's totally silly, but I always found myself laughing. The game also does have more sex scenes than Happiness, and they're longer too; of course, you can always Ctrl your way through them quickly (except for the occasional mid-scene choice...)

Production-wise, the game continues the excellence of Happiness. At first I was a bit taken aback by the change in character designer, but it didn't take long for me to appreciate and even like the graphics and character designs in the game. Graphically, I would say that everything looks excellent: characters, backgrounds, CGs, and the SD parts. The engine and presentation continues to improve on everything demonstrated in Happiness -- lots of movement, displacement effects, a huge variety of character poses that change with nearly every spoken line, and even the occasional DirectX effects (blurs, 3D movement, a 3D background in one scene, etc.) OdiakeS's music continues the tradition from Happiness, with a good variety of tracks to suit all the moods of the story. For the most part, I felt the music was used well, though there were a few spots in the story where I found myself thinking "oh, they should have changed to a different song here" (but that has nothing to do with the composer). I also enjoyed both the OP and ED songs. And in terms of sound effects, this too continues like Happiness, with a huge variety of sound effects used throughout. So, all in all, I didn't find anything major to complain about production-wise; a solid production.
And now a comment about Yuka's path. Again, in spoilers, though I won't spoil any specific game events (beyond what can be inferred).
I really loved this story a lot. From the moment Yuka and Kouta first met, there's such a strong sense of connection between the two of them -- it's like meeting your soulmate. They became instant friends with an almost childlike sense of innocence and wonder. Their instant and intimate closeness threw everyone else for a loop; long before they even realized that they loved each other, the connection was unmistakable. It was pretty funny (but also telling) the first time Yuka realized (was told) that her closeness to Kouta made her seem to others like his girlfriend -- it was almost like she hadn't even thought of him as a "Boy" (with a capital B) until then, just a partner and close friend. For Yuka, who had lived such a lonely life except for her contact with her beloved grandfather, the way she lit up during every moment spent with Kouta was just... way too much (in a good, moe~~~ sort of way). When they finally realized that they were in love with each other in the story, I had this remarkable sense of "this is the way it should be". They're just so "made for each other"... it's such a strong sense of destiny that I almost don't want to go back and play any of the other paths now! Yuka deserves to be with her partner forever, damn it! That feeling doesn't often happen for me, whether it's in games, anime, manga, or whatever. Maybe that's both a blessing and a curse for the game; sometimes the main couple can be too perfect -- so much so that it takes away from the potential to see the other girls as equal heroines. Not that the other girls aren't likeable, but Kouta and Yuka are a match made in heaven. They may be the "bakaapuru" ("baka couple"), but they're pretty tough to beat. That being said, for me personally, this path alone was worth the price of admission.
Okay, one more closing thought/in-joke:One of the big "in-jokes" in the game is the fact that there's this giant bear that comes to Kouta's secret base/treehouse. At first, no one believes he exists despite Kouta's insistance, until they see him for himself. And of course, the main funny thing about it is that the otherwise fearless Yuka finds herself completely terrified of this giant bear (while the otherwise fearful Maho thinks he's as cute as can be, and gets hearts all around her). The bear is used as an in-joke in a number of ways, but the main one is is probably what you'd expect of a bear...
Shizuku always wears a brooch with a bear logo on it
When Shizuku comes to visit the treehouse, the bear can't leave her alone (much to Shizuku's chagrin). Maho: "You really love children, don't you Mr. Bear..."
The program's icon is of Yuka's terrified "I see Mr. Bear" face. What are they try to say?! :heh:
So that's Tsunagaru★Bangle (at least so far). If it sounds like something you might enjoy, then I recommend it. It seems there's a used copy available at PaletWeb (http://www.paletweb.com/selectpage.asp?code=01719), and it's available (though a bit over-priced as usual) at HimeyaShop (http://www.himeyashop.com/product_info.php/products_id/8151) (NSFW!! Though they do have a Flash movie of the OP/promo video up there too, it seems).

As for genre..I guess I'd like romance.. But wouldn't mind adventure.. or mystery haha tbh I don't really mind.

Speaking of far-off release dates, I noticed that Navel's long-awaited "Oretachi ni tsubasa wa nai -under the innocent sky" got a released date of June 28th 2008, and they even have a day counter on their website (http://www.project-navel.com/navel/) (only 220 days away!). Got my first ending of Asuseka *brag, brag* with Yuhi, and well it was nice ride but except for another "twist" later in the game nothing overly special or powerful, not sure if I liked her character being too clingy at times. And I'm thinking Aoba's or Minami's ending could be more interesting than hers, we'll see. Lots of nice CGs throughout the game but I guess that doesn't need to be said. As usually looks like you need to go through all individual girls endings to reach After, an epilogue part of the game where final end awaits. Won't comment anymore till I reach there.

IMO, the character animation (and even some of the backdrops) and direction look quite similar to previous Purple Software openings. However, there's certainly a resemblance to Shinkai's art.

first off, isn't it "Asu no Kimi to Au Tame ni", since the short form used on the game website is "Asukimi"? .__.
this is the guy (group?) (http://www.afjpn.com/) responsible for the OP movie. though i have no idea whether there's any link between him and Shinkai. couldn't dig up much info on him/her...
the dude sure loves putting words all over his works though. if anything, i'd say the OP feels closer to that Yogurting video "Always", since that one has lots of funky colors too <.<

just installed ExE, probably gonna start on it during the weekends where there's no projects and assignments to disturb me.

So far I've played Shuffle, Fate/Stay Night and School Days (I didn't complete every possible path/ending, though). I've also tried Touka Gettan, but gave up quickly since I found it boring for my tastes.
I liked the anime version of FSN, but the game was way too long and with really too much to read. About the other two ones, I didn't like much the anime version (not at all in the case of SD) but I enjoyed the game versions much more, also because unlike FSN there was full voice acting.

I finished Minami's route first and was a bit disappointed. I think I set my bar a bit too high for this game and had already formed an idea of what I wanted to see, so I was disappointed that the scenario wasn't written as I had expected. That's not to say there weren't great moments, but I guess I just expected something different. Both the music and artwork are amazing though.

Apparently, what you are looking for are AVG/ADV games, not Visual Novel games.

AVG games are those with dialogue text in boxes that cover the bottom part of the screen. Examples of AVG games are Shuffle!, Da Capo etc.

Visual Novels are the ones with text that cover the full screen, with the pictures faded in the background. FSN, To Heart games are examples of Visual Novels.

Anyway I digress. A game that I recommend is Happiness! I went to play it after watching a little of the anime fansubs that were out this year. It's comedic so you should like it.

Another game you might try is Kimihagu. I haven't played it yet but the character designs are nice and the story doesn't sound tragic (not tragic = comedic?)

AVG/ADV stands for Adventure Game. The Japanese abbreviate it either ways. But do not confuse it with the American definition of adventure games :heh:

Another series I recommend is the Pia Carrot games by F&C (http://fandc.co.jp/). Unfortunately, the latest game Pia Carrot Go is not that recent, so you may have a hard time getting it.
If I'm not wrong, there's going to be a new Pia Carrot game out next Jan.

If you need a good place to look out for the latest erogames, go to http://www.getchu.com

They also have 3 differing designs for the costumes per girl... as usual. The third one looks like it's made for a fantasy RPG or something. ^_^

The character designer is Hinata Mutsuki, the same one who did Pia Carrot G.O. I have to admit, I like her style.
(I think it's a 'her'. Mutsuki is a girl's name... but you never know what sorts of pen names Japanese can think up)

As for the costumes, they are classified as "Black Rose", "Pure Peach" and "Valkyrie"... so yeah the 3rd one is kinda RPG-ish.

Can somebody suggest me a PC/Windows eroge fun to play (comedy), with full voice acting (or not too much text to read) and not too long to finish?

So far I've played Shuffle, Fate/Stay Night and School Days (I didn't complete every possible path/ending, though). I've also tried Touka Gettan, but gave up quickly since I found it boring for my tastes.
I liked the anime version of FSN, but the game was way too long and with really too much to read. About the other two ones, I didn't like much the anime version (not at all in the case of SD) but I enjoyed the game versions much more, also because unlike FSN there was full voice acting.

I'm somewhat new to erogames and next time I would like to play something good before watching the anime version, if there is or there will be one.

If you are still interested in check new Romance/Comedy Bgames, you should try TSUYOKISS, from Candysoft (http://www.candysoft.jp/). If you don't know yet, it's a famous bgame where ALL the girls are tsunderes! The maker will be releasing a sequel in 2008 and has already released a PS2 version, a fandisk and an anime TV show too. But unfortunately the TV show sucks!! :p

If you are interested in translated ero-games, you can check TOKIMEKI CHECK-IN, SNOW SAKURA and KAZOKU KEIKAKU, too.

I have to say Tokimeki check in was a bit of a let down....didnt have the flair of the other tokimeki games.

On another note does anyone know appx how long the new pia carrot gameplay will be? hopefully a bit longer than the previous

I've seen some episodes of the anime when it came out several months ago, it wasn't all that great so I dropped it after a few episodes. The game could be fun though! Thanks for your suggestion.

What does "bgame" mean anyway?

I prefer untranslated games as I don't have too many problems understading japanese, as long there's not too much text to read, where the tiring factor comes in. Plus, learning japanese (new words, etc) while playing is 25% the fun to me :)

It was not fault of the original game's story. The director of the TV series said in a interview he HATES tsunderes. You can't never expect a good thing when the own director dislikes what he's doing. Besides, they used an ugly character design, nothing like the original. :(

The original creator of the game probably learned his lesson, because his next game to be turned into an anime - KIMIARU: THEY ARE MY NOBLE MASTERS (http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=48927) - he will direct the TV show himself. :)

As was pointed out in the thread, that's sort of becoming a new trend, and I think it's probably a good thing. Certainly at least has the potential to result in works that are truer in spirit to the original game, whether or not they follow the game script entirely (see also D.C. II).

I'm not sure because i still need to play both the games, but many guys said even thought KIMIARU is a very good game, TSUYOKISS is even better! :)

So you can try to play TSUYOKISS first and KIMIARU later. That's what i'm intenting to do.

I am a big visual novel fan, although having only high school level Japanese doesn't really help at playing visual novels (most high schools have Japanese as a subject here) so I can only play the ones that have been translated already. I have already played through quite a few VNs in the past (FSN, Ever17, Air and a few more) and I really enjoyed all of them. To be honest, I enjoyed reading these novels more than watching some of the best animes out there. It's too bad that most of my friends don't like these games. :(

The last game I finished was Symphonic Rain, which definitely ranks as one of the best VNs I have played. I loved the songs so much that I even imported both Rainbow vocal album and For RITZ from CDJapan. Even my mum who doesn't listen to Japanese songs often enjoyed several of the songs from the vocal album.

Right now I'm going through One: Kagayaku Kisetsu e. So far I have already finished Nagamori, Nanase, Satomura and Misaki routes (my favourite is Misaki's route by far). I am still thinking of whether I will start on Mio or Shiina route next (still haven't met Shiina after having completed four routes).

After I'm done with One, I still have the following visual novels to go through:
Planetarian
Kana Little Sister
Utawareumono
Saya no Uta
Kanon
Hourglass of Summer

I seriously have no idea which one to start on next. Also I only play VN for about 1-2 hours a night so it will be a while until I can finish everything. :eyespin:

Finally on Bra-ban I see. :)

Now then, the erogame studio Fizz has a somewhat special distinction for me because I really, really, really, really, really, really, really like their artwork. Enough so that artwork alone was enough for me to play one of their earlier games, Koimomo. But enough about the art for now (it'll come back again later).

They have a new game coming up called 朝凪のアクアノーツ ("Aquanauts of a morning calm"??), slated for Feb 29, 2008, which I wish I could time-travel to and back.

http://www.fizzsoftware.jp/aquatop.htm

http://www.getchu.com/soft.phtml?id=444665

(Usual NSFW warnings of course)

This game is somewhat special because it seems like it rips off of the premise of Seto no Hanayome. :D You have mermaid main heroine who seems to be a mermaid princess of some kind, who ALSO transforms into a mermaid if she gets wet it seems, although the implications of that are more well-thought out here; for example, it's why she apparently doesn't wear underwear to school, lol.

Additional pluses include an imouto-type character that's actually the main char's fraternal twin, which is a dynamic I don't see often. Yes, she does posses a sizable brother complex it seems (and has a huge rack). Their mom's a MILF miko, yay (also with a huge rack). And the main heroine is voiced by the VA who did Haruhi of Happiness, which I'm sure many of you know, who's also apparently doing the singing for the OP of this game.

Now, coming back to the art. I would like to ask who did the art? Now Getchu lists Sakakibara Yui in the "Artist" field of their info on the game, but that can't be right. For one, she's the VA for the main heroine, and a person who's career seems to lean heavily into that side of the industry based on the wiki about her. Maybe she also does the art, much like Maeda Jun does both scenario writing and music for Key. It's also likely that Getchu just got their info wrong. Or maybe I'm just misunderstanding Getchu's moonspeak.

So could someone clear this up?

EDIT: Yep, I think I'm misunderstanding things.

Ah, Symphonic Rain isn't avilable anymore though, Himeya took it out of the shop for whatever reason 1 week ago. Japanese auctions are your friend (saw limited editions for ~4500Yen).
Think Kogados newest coming title Solfege (http://www.himeyashop.com/product_info.php/products_id/7392) may be also worth a try. It has also a "sound system" and similar other futures as Symphonic Rain.

I interpreted the "Artist" field in Getchu's info wrong. It's referring to a special artist or group music-wise for the game. It finally dawned on me that I was misunderstanding things when I saw Kawada Mami's name in the same field for another game.

I'd still like to know the character designer for Aquanauts if anyone knows. And the one for Kamipani and Aki no Urarano.

Sakakibara Yui actually does decent anime sketches, at least for Prism Ark. She has a couple of one panel gags on the PA site. Nowhere near character designer level though.

Anyway while I'm here, currently playing through Seinarukana. Amazingly fun game, and I'd be more than willing to translate the battle system if anyone is able to do the coding. The ADV part, on the other hand, has an annoying half second pause after clicking and pretty lackluster voice acting, and both of these factors got on my nerves so much, I just jammed on control all the way to 3rd playthrough, Hard mode. :heh:

Getchu lists their artists as, "Murririn" and "Kobuichi". Odd pseudonyms, but not as odd as the one belonging to Aki no Urarano's artist, "Peko." Or the three people for Thirua Panic: "Full Moon", "<Something> Shoal Water" and "Fish". ("満月○、水瀬凛、魚" Hooray Google Translate, lol)

Draculius' artist is Narumi (or Naromi) Suzune, and one other person; but I think the first is the princinple designer and the second an assistant after looking further through Getchu. So unless that's a total pseudonym, score another for women doing h-game art, lol.

Hilarious pseudonyms there.

So they were Draculius' artists? Time to add more names to my artists-to-admire list.

I was wondering, is it recommended to go through Clannad first before playing Tomoyo After?

Since I can read Chinese, and the Chinese patch for TA is already out so I was thinking of getting the game. But if the story in TA is too confusing without finishing Clannad first then I won't bother with it for now.

Yeah, Tomoyo After is a sequel to Clannad, so playing Clannad comes definitely first!

This post probably warrants getting posted into the CLANNAD subforums, but it's probably a too small a post to be put in there...

I thought Tomoyo After was CLANNAD's sequel for Sakagami Tomoyo's ending AKA the Tomoyo's After Story, whereas the After Story that was in the CLANNAD game was Nagisa's...

Key fans and other kagikko around, feel free to correct me on that, if I'm mistaken. :D

Besides that... also, in regards to this season's selection of eroge-to-anime conversions (*coughDaCapoIIPrismArkcough*)... could I have everyone's opinion on what's the best one out there? In terms of faithfulness to the original work and of course, artstyle...
I'm especially interested in Shinova and relentless-sama's comments. :3

Maybe "ef -a tale of memories-" is one of those games/shows...

(I'm not sure if I should leave this here or put it in its own thread. On the one hand it's off-topic, but on the other hand, it's potentially relevant to those following this thread. I guess I'll think about it later...)

Maybe "ef -a tale of memories-" is one of those games/shows...As you said, there are really three eroge anime conversions this season: Prism Ark, D.C. II, and ef. Of the three, D.C. II is the only one where I've played the game already (I bought ef, but it's still in its box :heh: ). If I had to recommend only one anime to watch, it'd have to be ef, even though I can't personally vouch for the anime's faithfulness to the game (I've heard it diverges in some ways, but is pretty close in most, despite part of the plot actually being from the upcoming game release). I'll probably find out for myself in a bit when I finally get around to playing the game (hopefully in time for the arrival of the latter tale). In terms of the artstyle, I quite like it. The use of colour and the background imagery is often astounding, and the presentation is very unique.

In terms of D.C. II, I can advocate it only with a few caveats. The anime is surprisingly true to the game in many aspects, except for the fact that it's what I'd call a "remix". It is also only telling a small part of the game's story (no more than 1/3), and I would suggest isn't telling any of the best or even "critical" parts. They're overdeveloping certain characters and underdeveloping others -- I equate it to one playthough of the game. So, if this short 13-episode adaptation is all they make, I would definitely disapprove of the anime as a fan of the game. If, however, this is just part 1 of more to come (as was hinted by tororo, when he said he wanted to make the anime as long as possible), then I think what they're doing in this season will begin to make a lot more sense. We shall see... As for the art... it takes some getting used to, but it's growing on me. At times it feels merely serviceable (and there are a fair bit of shortcuts used), but in other scenes I find it looks really quite nice.

As for Prism Ark, I haven't played the game, but I think the near-universal consensus is that it isn't really following the game's plot at all. Most game players seem to be confused as to what they're doing and why, and it doesn't seem to be catching the interest of too many non-game players either. I need to watch more myself before I can make my own judgement of it.

where do u guys get these games usually download or u buy it?Be aware that you're treading on very thin ice (http://forums.animesuki.com/faq.php?faq=rules#faq_rules_1_1)...

The games being discussed in this thread are all commercial games, which means they're for sale (and, as far as I know, you can't legally download them, and certainly not for free). I usually buy them either at HimeyaShop (http://www.himeyashop.com/) or PaletWeb (http://www.paletweb.com), personally. There's also a "Where to buy Japanese games?" thread that may be of interest to you. :)

Be aware that they're not cheap either -- some games cost close to $90 or so at HimeyaShop. There are other companies that sell translated games such as Hirameki for instance, but even still the number of good games commercially available in English is small.

Going back to the topic, I've been playing (or watching, rather) Hourglass of Summer as of late. Wish I didn't have to play it on my DVD Player though.....

Rip the DVD and run it with VLC. You'll have to put up with some minor glitches, but it's a lot better than running the game on an actual DVD player.

I don't read Japanese, so my choices are limited obviously. ;) I have played Tsukihime and the first arc of Fate/Stay Night though, courtesy of mirror moon's translation team (which kicks ass btw, but they're being real slow on the 2nd arc release, unfortunately. :( ).

I was really wanting to play Kimi ga Nozomu Eien after watching the anime a while ago, but afaik no one has translated this game? I'd love to buy it, but it would be kinda worthless if there was no fan translation like mirror moon does. Anyone know if there's been any effort to translate this game?

As far as I know, there aren't any - sorry. Maybe in the future a group of fansubbers/programmers will do a fan translation. But at least there are dedicated groups that are finished with their respective projects like the fine folks at Mirror Moon, and hopefully they'll release the translation for the other routes in Fate/Stay Night.

On the other hand I took the trial version that's up for download on their website for a spin. So far, I like what I see.

Kahara Tomoyuki is your male lead and he lives with his younger sister Mizuki in a house on an island town. (common setting for many eroges, lol) He's fairly typical for an eroge male lead; hard to get out of bed, somewhat lazy, rubs the wrong way with people sometimes, etc, your typical protagonist. Overall a decent guy.

I like his relationship with his sister. Forget your typical, "Onii-chan, it's time to have breakfast and go to school," routine. These two are closer to tying the other up in chains and throwing him or her into the ocean than they are to having a rabu-rabu sibling relationship. :D The way they grate on each other and rub off of each other is great, and yet they're so alike as some other characters point out.

There's his childhood friend, Katase Megumi. Gentle, likes housework. Mizuki seems to think highly of Megumi, and so tries to behave differently towards her brother when Megumi's around. osaanajimi-san is also kinda clueless, especially when Mizuki's stealth-punching and toe-stepping Tomoyuki while calling him, "Onii-chan", lol.

Kirishima Nonoka is a miko who's about their age and goes to the same school. Has an enormous set of breasts which Tomoyuki makes funny comments about from time to time. Her shrine's apparently not doing too well, but she tries her best regardless. She's also easily distracted and forgets things easily, as we can see when she joins the previous three on their way to school and they point out that she still has her miko outfit on.

The next character, the blonde chibi, is called 天泉森雨古依命 or あまいずみもりあめこよりのみこと, or Amaizumimoriamekoyori no Mikoto, called Koyori for short. This character is where the "Kami" part of Kamipani comes into play. She's the island's patron goddess and protector. Why she's come down to the human world isn't known by the end of the trial. She's energetic, greatly curious about the human world, eats a looooot of food to provide energy to maintain her physical presence in the world, likes being around Tomoyuki and company, and likes to fondle Nonoka's chest. (she sounds just like a perverted old man when she does this, and I didn't know such behavior could be portrayed on what looks like a young girl :heh:) She frequently laments about how people aren't very spiritual compared to how it was before, hates it when people make comments about her short stature and such ("Divine retribution!!" *ZAP* :heh:).

Kujo Amane, the blue-haired girl, is the student council president and belongs to the class next to Tomoyuki's. She believes it her duty to protect the school and maintain its integrity, and absolutely refuses to believe in the supernatural, like dieties for instance. She clashes with Koyori when the latter pulls off some of her divine tricks in school and goes on about the prohibition of dangerous antics and so on. Otherwise, she's smart, level-headed, aggressive and straightforward, much like a student council president; but if the usual ojou-sama attitude from most student council presidents annoyed you, fear not cause Amane doesn't have that holier-than-thou atmosphere about her.

The story basically starts with Mizuki finding out that her brother lost the purse holding all their money. Megumi finds out about it after she climbs in through Tomoyuki's window in the middle of their fighting about it, and the three decide to cut morning classes to search for the missing item. Along the way they meet Nonoka in miko outfit on her way to class, and she ends up helping them as well.

They end up at the Kirishima shrine after Nonoka recalling that she saw a girl before holding up something that looked like a purse or wallet and counting money inside. They find the girl, Koyori, who proclaims she's a goddess and has claimed the money as offering. Megumi's the first one to say, "Shouldn't you be getting back to the hospital right about now?" :p

The siblings manage to forcibly take the money back (I think), and the group heads to school, although Nonoka has STILL forgotten to change out of her miko clothes. :heh: Amane catches them arriving late and assigns them restroom cleaning duty. Which Mizuki ditches. >___>

Later that day, Tomoyuki comes home to a racket coming from the living room. It's that Koyori girl and she says that because the shrine's in such a poor state, she'll be staying at their house in the meantime. Tomoyuki and Mizuki try to get her to leave and don't believe her claims about her being a goddess..... until she levitates Mizuki and gives their pug, Ichiro, the capability of human speech.

And so begin our exciting days with a live-in shrine goddess and her human friends, or some such.

I think it looks like a win, and I'll be looking forward to playing the full game...... in February. :(

EDIT: My favorite character so far, hmmm..... probably Koyori, with Amane and Mizuki close behind I guess.

Hey guys, question again^^
I'm looking for a really good summary od what happens in Da Capo and Da Capo2.
A friend of mine asked me, but I never played the games (and do not intend to do so).Why does your friend want to know, I guess is the main question... Does he actually want to know what happens or just how it ends (presumably on the "main path", or something? They're multi-path games...)? Easiest way to get a sense of what goes on is watch the anime series, probably. Summaries of most of what goes on in D.C. II are linked-to in the game thread (two more paths left to go). If he basically just wants to know how it ends without any of the detail, he can check out the Wikipedia articles (though they're flawed and incomplete, but I'd rather leave them that way than give everything away). Obviously the best answer is "play the games", since any adaptation or summary will be flawed, but... :heh:

Has anyone been playing AsuKimi? I'm still kind of intrigued by the opening movie and such, but junai isn't really my genre to begin with...Yeah I'm (still) playing it, must say I was bit fooled by that OP movie, game's not nearly emotional and dramatic as movie would suggest, and there are other complaints...I'll write something with more substance once I finished it in a week or so.

古依「おはようございます。神様です」

恵「お、おはようございます。恵です……」

瑞希「オハヨウゴザイマス。妹DEATH」

Followed by a ちぇすとー! attack from the little goddess herself. Damn, I can't wait for Kamipani to come out!

It seems most of Purple Game tend to disappoint you near the end. Primitive Link is a good example.

Well, when I started playing Primitive it was pretty good but then, it went into a complete downfall when I got into each girl's route. :(

Riko's route is a good example. It had some really good potential but when everything started to get interesting, they screwed it up with all kind non-sense stuff.

Yep, seconded, since there are some tasty story-related details in the skill descriptions. Like, for example, Euphoria's.

Well, it seems that all Key works are fated to have an "18-kin" rendition/spinoff, sooner or later. Honestly, I'm a bit troubled by the idea of Kudryavka and the rest... being in a more "mature" setting... :heh:

LOL. Key just pulled a Leaf/Aquaplus.

I agree, I knew there was a reason I didn't get around to Little Busters.

Although I would've like to see some of the large male cast get some ass too...not just Riki.

You'd have seen it coming from miles away though, when they first announced the cast it was like "Who the hell are these h-game only seiyuu doing in my all-age game?"

Sushi-Y

18+ Little Busters!... *shudders*

The only place where I see any h-scene might be (maybe) appropriate is late into Rin's scenario (before Refrain), when Riki and Rin began their new life. I simply don't see how characters like Komari could have h-scenes incorporated into their story.

I didn't expect Key to pull a Leaf trick like this, to be honest. An 18+ expansion/fan disk, maybe, but an 18+ remake? Isn't that like.... reverse-Key or something?
Seinarukana in English? Translations ready to get started ;).
You're nuts, but good pick :heh:

I was totally aiming for a Nozomu+Nozomi ending, only to find out that I was stuck with Naya for the first playthrough. I think I gave up somewhere during my second playthrough, it was just too much work having to lvl every "rejoined" character up to date from their first endgame levels (29~30) (that and maybe I shouldn't have picked hard mode).

One game I'd like to see animated though.

Hmmm... quite disheartening... unless it won't be a remake of the game per se, and is a further continuation or expansion on the pre-Refrain plot like what Sushi-Y was saying.

Makes me also wonder what poor Kudo and Komari will be doing in the game... O_o

I could still remember sushi-Y said this like it was yesterday:

I gave out a sigh of relief at the all ages rating. I think something in me would break if I had to watch Kudo (http://key.visualarts.gr.jp/newsoft/chara_kudo.htm) in an ero scene. :heh:

Besides, seeing the Dengeki G's 4-coma comics, you can tell Riki is not exactly fit to be an eroge male lead anyway, with that kind of personality (in a good way).

Now I'd like to see that thing breaking:heh:

The "story" from the game's website (nothing spoiler-ish):

In this city, there is a "cloud" that definitely cannot be passed.

There is a cloud that has always, always interrupted the radiance of the night sky.

That is why the starry sky is so far.

At some time, a small wish had turned into a huge yearning.

At the town wrapped in clouds.

There are girls that dream of seeing the whole starry sky.

This is a story of watching a faint dream in tender, peaceful days.

No matter where, no matter where-It was a morning with a clear, blue sky.

Saku (main character), who left the Tatsumi house, has come to this town.

Koumeishi <--Setting

A name that sounded like it could tear off the sky.

The atmosphere of this city that gently caress the cheek.

"Go live the way you want." When his strict father told him that, Saku understood that he had failed as a person of the Tatsumi's.

It was something he understood.

He had always, always understood that long ago.

But even then, he could not accept it, did not give up, and continued to endeaver in an unsightly way.

Like his father.

Like his brother.

He wanted to be recognized as a person that had what one should have as one born in the Tatsumi family.

But, right now, he is here.

An old mansion, said to be where his ancestors lived, was in front of his eyes.

"Someone has to go to that city as a representative of the Tatsumi's." When his father said that, Saku volunteered without confirming much details.

If it will become the reason to leave that house.

I'll start a new life while enjoying this town's tenderness.

He passed through the gate to the mansion he was going to live while thinking that.

This is a story of watching a faint dream in tender, peaceful days.

And then slowly...

Slowly, slowly, a story of piling rain.

EDIT:

Some stuff from the game's Japanese wiki-page:

As you see from the above, the sky cannot be seen.
To grant the wishes of the people that want to, once every 100 years (it always has to be ), a committee called the "Astronomy Committe" is established. The astronomy members, whose existence is like that of a shrine maiden who will clear the clouds, are selected from Niitsu Academy, in Koumeishi, and the 12 of them are named after the twelve signs of the zodiac. Each astronomy member will perform many kinds of ways to clear the clouds in the time period of their birth constellation, aiming to succeed in an event called the "Teribina".
But the Teribina had never succeeded even once (go figure ), so it has become something of a festival to the civilians of Koumeishi.
In the twelve members of the astronomy committee, the ones that will appear as heroines will be Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Virgo, and Leo.
Of those six, the ones with playable paths are 3. (In the Playstation 2 version, there are 4.)

Ah, I was right about the "zodiac" part...

Though, I did notice that the usual girl count for most eroge are limited to 3-5. I guess writing plotlines for more girls would be quite hard. Even though Akamatsu Ken attempted to make plotlines for 31+ girls in a certain series and he's still going on...

Recently finished playing Sekien no Inganock (a November release from Liarsoft). I really, really liked it, although I have to say that I struggled more with it than with most other games I've played. Because parts of the story were obscure to begin with, there were areas where it became hard to tell whether I was having language issues or just not getting the plot. I'm definitely interested in going through it again in a year or so, but for now I think I need to take a break with something set in the contemporary real world. :heh:

Miyaho is kinda boring since the way she talks is so slow, being a princess and all. Don't forget about the 'Donkusai'. She spent her whole route being one. I can't feel any character development for her. hat's why I felt she is a boring character, even though there's some funny moments too.

Anyway, what is 'Donkusai' really mean? Is it slow, or clumsy or something like that..?

So what was the difference between To Heart 2 and To Heart 2 Xrated anyway?

I don't own a PS2 so I did not have a chance to play the non adult version. The "XRated" scenes seem to blend into the scenarios so I'm guessing they had to alter part of the story to introduce the "Xrated" stuff right? Or they actually just added on the "Xrated" epilogues to the existing endings?

Not really that sure, but I think it's more of a mix between the two. Though frankly, I can't recall how exactly the H scenes were spread out, since I'm a bit freaked out now by how Manaka-iinchou or even Yuuki got into *those* sort of scenes...

And right now, I'm almost on the verge of tears (I kid you not) after seeing the magazine scans (G's Magazine, exactly) for all the Fortune Arterial and ToHeart2 ~Another Days~ data. Shiro, Yochi and Charu.... :)
