Well, I finally finished all of Matantei Loki Ragnarok, and I love it from beginning to end! Still, the way they ended it, is there any chance of a second series?
Because they ended it with the camera zooming in on a strange girl, and I found out her name is Spica. Anyone heard if we might see more, or is this a nod to the manga in some way? I'll keep my fingers crossed...
Yeah i agree with you, i love this series. Mayura is the best god i love her. My fav episode was the iron wok spoof. I would love to see another series or read the manga if it has more.
Well, it all depends on the producers. Depends on whether they want to make some more investments. I guess they'll have to see how well the series is doing and how much money it made/is making. The DVDs aren't all out yet. We'll just have to see.

I thought that this show had the most unique ending I have ever seen and it would be ruined if they did a second season.
Instead of going to Asgard to fight against Odin, Loki and all of them decided to simply stay on earth and ignore him. It was brilliant and poetic. Since Odin is a raving megalomaniac eager to take on Loki in the name of ending Ragnarok his actions created the necessity of Ragnarok. If Loki went to Asgard, Odin would get the Ragnarok he desires. The perfect response was to simply ignore Odin. They stay on earth so that Odin doesn't get his war. Odin can rave impotently in Asgard while everyone ignores him
Everyone gets to stay on earth which they love, instead of going to Asgard where war and pain are waiting.
Of course Odin will send more people after Loki. He's not done yet, but every time he does, Loki will simply convert or defeat them like he did everyone else that Odin sent. Eventually Odin will be all alone, walking Asgard's hall in a royal snit and muttering to himself.
If there was a second season, this image will be ruined!
I hated the way they introduced Spica at the end. The ending would've been fine without her showing up. x.x;

I have just finished watching it.. and athough it had a cutsy ending ... not the violent battle of the gods i was really expecting.. I really did enjoy the series...
26eps.. and the last bit implied that it might be carried on.. (like most series i know but)
So does anyone know if there is going to be more Loki or is that my lot??
Its a spooky Mystery! ;)

The manga is still going, and there's definitely potential for a second season--no mention of more Loki on Anime Daisuki though, so it might be a while before it happens :(
Heya all, i just finished this 26 ep anime and found it to be quite entertaining though the actions seems repetitive. There are a few things i don't get it (maybe i'm slow...oh well)
1. What's the reason Loki was banished from the world of gods? After 26 ep i still don't get it, and i think neither does Loki hehe
2. Why Loki's daughter Hel died? Gods live forever don't they. She just sleep on Loki's lap and there she goes.........
3. How Loki able to transform back to his normal self?
4. Does the ending suggest a sequel? Why do you guys think?

1)Well Odin banished Loki from the world of the gods to prevent ragnarok (the end of the world) from happening.
2)We don't exactly know that Hel died, she could just have gone back to the world of the gods. According to the norse mythology gods can die.
4) I read somewhere that the manga is still ongoing so there might be a sequel.

1. Odin was jealous of freya's love for loki so he use ragnarok as an excuse to banish loki from the realm of the gods
2. Loki's daughter didnt die, she just was forced to return to the world of the gods because she had no reason to stay in the human realm because she kenw her father did not hate her
3.There are 2 ways for loki to change to his god form- since loki is the prankster god he can collect evil to empower himself and also he will become a god if odin forces him into that form as a challenge to a duel
4.theres no actual information a sequel but the probally will be, also use the search option and find the other Raganarok thread ;p
2. Why Loki's daughter Hel died? Gods live forever don't they
Like Kuroiwolfie said, gods in norse mythology can die. In real norse mythology Loki (http://en2.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loki) himself was responsible for the death of Baldur (http://en2.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baldur), the god of innocence, beauty and peace. For this crime, Loki was bound with chains and a never-ending stream of venom from a serpent sears his face until he will finally escape and take part in Ragnarok.
I agree with that but it did not mention how and why loki would cause ragnarok =p
Odin is jealous of freya's love for loki? Hmm i must have miss that part. Funny that Odin's appearance was not seen in any of the episodes
Looks like different ppl has different interpretation on Hel. So if gods can die then it is still debatable whether she did die or was forced back into the world of gods (didn't notice this part though) =P
Some things is just so vague. In the end Loki seem to change back into his original form but he have not collected enough evil and Odin did not challenge him into a duel. After the scene with his daughter he just become back to normal......
However i found the ending it bit unpredictable as loki choose to remain in his child form and stay on earth along with other gods just for Mayura's sake. I would expect as least a duel with Odin or return to their own world
I agree with that but it did not mention how and why loki would cause ragnarok =p
Loki doesn't cause Ragnarok though he and his offspring do play a major role in the final battle. Ragnarok will happen no matter what the gods do and the gods know that as well as it has been prophetized (remarkably accurately, as they even know who is going to die in Ragnarok). Oh and Ragnarok can also be viewed as a good thing as after it a new world without misery will be formed.
I guess that none of these things would really fit in Matantei Loki Ragnarok's mangled version of the mythology :p

That's the problem - I wouldn't count on the show following real Norse mythology very closely. I don't think the real Hel would be as cute for example :)

yea i agree after watching a few ep of ragnarok i was curious about the myth so i went and research on norse mythology. dang there we some dark pic especially the one with loki chained up with the serpent eck. i think the anime version can't be exact or anywhere near the original story since it's a comedy with cute characters. there is no way it can become dark like the original myth.

I kind of like how the show paints a sort of "revisionist" Norse history where Loki is the good guy and Odin the bad. In the original mythology while Loki may not of been pure evil, he wasn't exactly what you'd call a nice guy. Of course, "history" often depends on who's doing the writing, and the show's take on it has Odin likely to blame for Loki's bad reputation (as they say - it's good to be king).

I've just saw the ending. The very last part of the ending is a great clue that there will be a sequel. But how did you know that girl's name is Spica ?

So....how is this?Full details but nothing to spoil.
It's an okay anime. Nothing especially deep, but not mindless drivel either. If I had to categorize, I'd say it's Magical Boy anime. Done in pretty much shounen style.
It does suffer from some very weak filler episodes, though. Actually, I'd say about two-thirds of the anime can be considered filler.

I finished watching this a while ago, and I must say I did enjoy it. Art work and animation seemed to be a little above average. I LOVED the op/ed songs and the rest of the music was pretty to boot too. I liked all of the characters too. I'd say it lost it in the second half somewhat, when the series when from random (hilarious at times) filler, and tried to get into the main plot, and it failed here imo. And the ending is just another generic 1 minute anime ending.
I'd say, it's definately a good grab. Especially if you want some humour and a few okay fight scenes but aren't looking for a deep ass story or anything, as allthough the general setup is pretty good, the story certainly isn't deep, or full of many cool plot twists. But definately a good watch, especially for the first half.
Additionally: Fushigi mystery~~! ^_^

She keeps saying that phrase. I don't think it means what she think it means. ^^ Then again, the pink menace is not known for her intelligence...
I think that Loki is one of the few anime characters that can manage to look bishounen and jailbait at the same time.

It looks more like shoujo style to me. Look at all the "bishounen" in there ;)

I enjoyed the series and I normally don't like series like these. I perfer darker themed, more mature, taboo filled type of series.
But this one I liked. It starts off great but it does lose some of it's steam and does seem to be mainly filler. There could have been so much done with it but obviously there wasn't. Regardless it's still worth watching if only for the humor and above average animation.
Mayura is not a pink menace either. She's simply Mayura and I like her. Though Loki, whether jailbait Loki or god Loki is adorable. But Yamino-kun needs love too. Give the mail order catalog obsessed son/butler some credit. ~_^

And just because your last sentence really irritates me I want to say that I have no idea why you think that 26 isn't the last episode. Considering that you don't have a clue what the show is about it seems unlikely you'd know how many episodes long it should be.
Allow me to take part in this conversation. the Anime gives merely a small fragment of the norse mythologi(and some parts arent right either). The reason Oden banishes Loke?=2 things, freja and he is the one who will bring Ragnarök. Is Oden really that powerful?=not really. He is clever from drinking the water of Mimers well where he drops his eye in return. Loke is the god of treachry and tricks. Father of Midgårdsormen and Fenrisulven and Hel, goddes of the underworld. Ragnarök is quite an epic battle. Oden wont do a thing. He gets devoured by Fenris. Tor battles Midgårdsormen but will fall from its poison and they both die. Heimdal has lost his eye to loke?=wrong all wrong. he just stand there guarding Bifrost to blow the horn Gjall that will mean the beginning of Ragnarök. Loke will asemble his sons and Hel will summons the dead. Also he will call the giants. I might talk bout that now, th gifts. Mjölnir, draupnir, skidbladner, gyllenborst, briesing and Gungner. These where presented by the dwarves Fjallar and Gallar (they also made the mead of poetry). the reason was cause Loke had cut of the golden hair from Tors wife. he would repent by giving her new hair+these gifts. he went to 2 dwarves (fjallar and Gallar) and betted his head on it. the gods decided Mjölnir to be th best. the dwarf wanted to cut of his head. but that would mean the neck. so he tok a leather string and sew lokes mouth shut.
However i forgot some things. Frej will die by the giant Surt who wield the sword of fire. Heimdal will duel Loke and both die. Tyr the one handed man who sacrificed his hand to chain fenrisulven kills the hellhound Garm and dies afterwards. Surt will set the world ablaze and none of the 9 wolrds will escape. all die save 2 humans Lif and lifthrasir who will repopulate the world. also Odens and Tors sons Vidar, Vali and Modi and Magni. Also some gods is said to endure the fall of Asgård. In the end of the gods there will be a new world with no cruelty and with the same paradise as the garden of eden...(also Fenrisulven gets 3 childs and Loke is half-giant, which most gods are since theyre from a giant that unfreezed from Nifelheim.

well the anime is really far from the real Norse mythology itself of course... it's just some guy thinking the Norse mythology sounds cool and take some random names and characters and settings and write his own "cool story". But then I just watch this series mostly for the hot Norns sisters and cute boys anyway :heh:
thats quit wrong as well. the 3 has one area each. past, now and future. see them as the systers of fate in greek myths. they control all lives(and i mean ALL). And if Loke wasnt meant to die they cant do jack about it

And if Loke wasnt meant to die they cant do jack about it Err... I think you are messing up the norse Norns with the greek Fates (Moirae). The Norns are Urd, Verdandi and Skuld, the norse goddesses of fate. the Fates are Clotho, Lachesis and Atropos, the greek goddesses of fate. And actually they have completely different duties and powers. Fates are those who control birth, life, death. Norns are those who represent fate, necessity and being. Also in some versions of both greek and norse mythology, those goddesses of fate have power over even the gods.
Of course those sisters are portrayed quite wrongly in the anime, but then ALL the characters in the anime are portrayed far differently from real Norse mythology. But then I doubt anyone wants to use this anime as a teaching material for Norse mythology anyway :heh:
I myself watched this anime to see cute boys and hot girls, not to do study on mythologies :p
About mythologies, there are tons of info lying around the internet, I suggest anyone trying to get more info on them to use google to search for them.
Oh, and what's "quite wrong"? do you mean it's quite wrong to watch this for the girls and boys? I think I can watch this anime for whatever reason I like :o If you say the mythological characters in the anime are portrayed quite wrong, well, this anime is never intended to convey the correct concepts about Norse mythology, I bet the guys who made the anime could care less about what's written in the real Norse mythology :D
I've heard from a fan site that Mayura is the human reincarnation of Loki's wife, I'm kinda freaked out. But is it true? @-@

Not to bring this back from the dead, but I just started getting into this series, and while it's entertaining, at episode 6, I so far can't stand Mayura. Poor Loki gets dragged all over the place by her, and she has no concept about his feelings or thoughts at all. It's always about her.

However, Loki is the one who allows her to drag him all over the place. If he were truly bothered by Mayura, he'd put an end to their relationship. It's certainly within his abilities to do so. Since he doesn't, I figure he must be enjoying himself no matter how much he may grumble.
I love Mayura. D: She's a sweet girl and she and Loki make the cutest couple. X3 I have this whole series on DVD. It took forever but I did it. XD
And if you play the DVDs in your computer, you'll find there are hidden hilarious dub outtakes on each volume!:heh:

It takes enjoyment out of the series for me personally. I'm up to 9 so far, and my view hasn't changed of her. She's un-necessary to the show as of yet. She never listens to anything he says, she has shown no ability in being able to tell if something is bothering him or not, she doesn't even try and get to know him.
I'm more interested in the Freya Goddess and her connection with him.
An example would be this episode 9. He tells her under no circumstance is she to go back to the park where the tree is. So what does she do? She goes to the park. She automatically uses his mansion as she sees fit. She accepts cases without asking him. A very, very irritating character.
She doesn't irritate ME. D:

Just finished episode 11. She hasn't really been in more than like 2 episodes so far to irritate, but maybe that'll happen in the later episodes. The way I'm powering through this series, I might be done by late tonight.
Unfortunately Mayura is in every episode so it's easy to irritate. :frustrated:

I don't like her just because she latches onto Loki like a little leech and always says his name and acts sort of possessive over him AND she's rather useless. It's really annoying.

Amen to that! I was very happy when she'd switch to her goddess form since honestly Reiya annoyed me more then Mayura.
For me, cuz I also complained about Mayura when I first started Loki, she was annoying but for some reason (for me) she became less annoying as the series went on epsc near the end. Reiya was always annoying to me.
MUAHAHAHAHAHA

The only reason i like Mayura is because she seem to be the only one who can indirectly manipulate Loki to do things that she wanted to.
I really wish that the fighting scene in this anime is better. It gets boring when you see Loki using the same weapon and mostly the same spell(u call that spell?i dont know)
I really like Takahiro Sakurai who voice the adult version of Loki.He definitely bring out the character

Anyone know if the manga is still license? or if drop any one doing scanlation.
Has ADV dropped the license officially yet?
There have been rumors and hints for some time that Tokyopop now has the Loki license. However, with TP's current problems, if they do have the license, I suspect they will not publish the book any time soon. (I would be happy to be proven wrong on this guess though.)
