one of my favorites (especially since its got Mizuho).
I know all through ep 12 are out,...
how did others feel about the series?
Did you feel a little bit of a let-down when it didnt focus enough on Mizuho & Kei-kun?
Did you want the sister to be Karen or Mina (I'm happy with that outcome)?
Where should it go from here for ep 13?

I thought the first couple episodes were pretty good, but after about the 1000th time I heard "We may be related, we may not" I decided I had enough =/ The whole gay guy arc was decent, but the story on the whole left me wishing for those minutes of my life back. Music was good tho =)
OT was fun, and I like the ending the way it was (I expected them to be triplets actually). I'm not expecting much of eps 13, guess it won't really add something to the story.
When I began to watch this series I really enjoyed it. I was literally hooked on it, checking back everyday to see if another episode had come out. As the series went on the inital enjoyment waned a bit, but it was still very interesting. I liked the flow of the story and enjoyed the little subplots involving the other characters love interests.
In regards to Mizuho and Kei, I wasn't all that disappointed to find out it didn't focus on them. It was nice they had cameos in this series (since I wasn't expecting to see them at all) but if you notice Kei never speaks a word. Did the seiyuu who did his voice in Onegai Teacher not come back to do it again? Who knows...
I'm perfectly fine with the outcome, I can't really think of another way it could be done **Spoiler (highlight to read) since Karen really does seem like more of a younger sister even from the start.** With the end of the 12th episode I was happy but I wanted to see a bit more.
Now I'm not sure but I thought it ended at the 12th ep. If they did in fact make another ep it would be nice to see what a day in the life is for them now that they all know. I figure it would be interesting since all you saw were little snip-its of their day while the ending credits rolled.
You know it didn't even bother me when they started out every episode with "We may be related, we may not" since a lot of the anime I watch normally has a lot of recurring openings
i.e. Berserk, Green Green

Honestly, I was wishing that either that they'd find out that nobody's related.
(and hence they both pursue Maiku... and since they don't have to tell anyone, they can both stay in the house...
then again... I don't want to have anymore harem type animes...)
Or, that they realize that they're triplets... which would be sad for everyone... but I'm sure they can somehow work it out.
But the ending... ARGH... I want the hours of my life back...

Onegai Twins was a great series... In my opinion i liked Onegai Twins better than Onegai Teacher in many ways.....
anyways im sad to see Onegai Twins end off and that episode 13will be coming out in like 5 months will be a bummer to wait for.... In episode 13 I hope they find out more about their parents and about themselves and also to show how the relationship between the girls and Maiku are like.... maybe it will kinda be like the OVA for Onegai Teacher ;).... I do feel that a lot of questions are still there and they can do so much with the 13th episode... They could even make more episodes in order to patch in the holes that didnt even get answered
anyways I hope they make a 3rd installment of the Onegai Series because i feel as if the Onegai Series thing is done very well and I wonder what kind of crazy idea they will come up next

I enjoyed the series, but I like Onegai Teacher better.
**SPOILERS BELOW....sorry....I have to ask some questions**
I liked the outcome, because honestly, I was expecting them to do something like make them al three be related or not, so it was actually a surprise. I also like how they did not focus on the the relationship developed in the first series, but rather, use it as a backdrop (little disappointed that Kei's seiyuu would not even appear for a single line though....whatever that's about).
However, I'm still a little confused about some things. I'm pretty slow at these things, so don't flame me for it (I'd appreciate it if you could give me an answer or point me to a specific place in the series that explans it).
At the very end, Maiku explains that Mina was lying down in the picture, does this mean they were childhood friends? Also, if they're not related, why does Mina have the same eyes as Maiku (I'm willing to believe it's pure coincidence)?
I'm sorry if these seem like stupid questions, but they sorta bug me. Thanks for helping me. :)

i really enjoyed the series
i didnt care it wasnt about mizuho and kei, since it wasnt supposed to be - i felt onegai teacher resolved all major issues
--spoiler--
im upset that it was karen, because she was way cuter then miina

its maiku and miina in the picture, karen was sleeping, but karen is the sister

The whole gay guy arc was decent
Haha, 2 episodes out of a 12 episode show gets to be considered an "arc", Too bad nothing else of any value happened during the show. I complained enough about it back when it ended, but to say the least I thought it would have worked a LOT better as a 3 episode OVA instead. The middle episodes were largely vapid. The ending was not exciting at all. And where exactly was the tie in with OTeacher?! Sure Mizuho and Kei were there, but how in the HELL does animenfo justify putting a "science-fiction" tag on this show?! Marie?! Just because WE know Mizho is an alien, that makes the show sci-fi, regardless of the fact that it's not stated once during the entire series?
Ugh. Here I go ranting again. I'm just gonna stop now.
Thumbs down.
Good-bye.
Seen the whole series. Can't say I like it though. Same as some of you guys here, I got sick for the 'are we related' line.

I thought that they were triplets, since all the three has the same eyecolor. Well... my big doubt is: how on earth does Miina has the same eyes, if she is no related to them?

I know a person who has practically (well, I couldn´t see the difference from 50cm or so range...) the same eye color as I do. Does that make us related to each other?
EDIT: Well, I met him once ;P

It was an awesome series. I liked how it all fit into 12 episodes. I would've died if it took any longer than that. *haha* I loved it. Didn't like Karen much but I really liked Miina ^^
And ofcourse, Marie!
*hehe*
weird both girl can reach the house on the same day after they saw the tv scene HALF a year ago......
well i know there must be an coincident to start the anime.....
and lastly the answer was discovered by the know-nothing, shy, "yew...." little green hair girl...............
maiku baka???
To me this whole series was a huge let down, cause it had nothing to do with aliens like Onegai Sensei.

Onegai Teacher had something to do with aliens?!? We must have been watching different shows. While I admit that a few of the characters in the show happened to be from another planet with advanced technology, I don't believe that it actually had anything to do with aliens. It was about a forbidden relationship.
The fact that one of them was an alien was significant only so that she had a secret that he needed to keep. A secret important enough to get married for.
Onegai Twins was a horrible waste of time.
It took 10 episodes for someone to realize that the picture was taken from the house across the street?!!
And I wanted them to be aliens.

Sad... but that almost sums up the entire series.
I'm hoping that the OVA will explain some of the unanswered questions.
Then again... I get the feeling that it won't.
Now out of curiousity... do you think OT was more about the relationship? or was it about the characters?
That's because the company that made the Onegai series, Please!, had no intention in the first place to make a story about anything.
If you were able to read Japanese, and if you were to get the special CD that was sold in 2001 Winter Comike about Onegai Teacher, you will understand that the creators did not have in mind about making something about aliens (although Mizuho Sensei is an alien), the basic story is about - an escape from the busy life of metropolitan areas, and to revitalize what life is like on a typical Japanese countryside.
That is why, they chose the location Kizakiko Lake (near Karuizaka - a ski resort, in Nagano Prefecture) when they made this anime.
Due to Onegai Teacher and Onegai Twins becoming very popular, Kizakiko Lake has become some sort of a mecca for Japanese otakus.

And thats why people watch anime..to escape the boringness harsh simplicity of reality. Nothing like anime to tell us we really truely have no life eh?
After playing harvest moon, I've decided I want to be a farmer.

I'm sorry for bumping a month-old topic... it was either that or create a new thread about the same thing!
Anyways, I decided to watch this whole series without looking at any reviews from anyone, and you know, I'm very glad I did. Not having seen Onegai Teacher, I really enjoyed this series for what it was - a simple teenage drama about love, family, and "belonging". I was coming off of watching through Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien, and being caught up in the closing arc of Da Capo, so I was looking for something a little less sad/traumatic... something a bit more light-hearted and fun. For this, Onegai Twins was the perfect choice, and I enjoyed it immensely!
While I do understand what most people are saying in criticism of the show in this thread (the plot was perhaps overly simple, the main issue was driven home in an almost obsessive manner, the ending wasn't terribly creative, etc.), the series still had a number of things going for it. First, the main character (Maiku) was actually fairly normal and likable... I felt I could relate to him very well. Second, the two girls and their relationships with each other and Maiku were cute... the girls were genuinely likable (Karen was my favorite). Third, the situations they got themselves into were often funny and fairly light-hearted, while some would tugs on your emotions a bit... sometimes both; I thought it was a good mix. The support characters also get an honourable mention; although they run the typical gamut, they add humour and interest to the show. (As I said, I haven't seen Teacher yet, but I did clue in to the fact that the teacher and her husband were from the first series.) Overall, if you don't mind the ligher plot and can judge this series on it's own merits, you may actually end up liking Onegai Twins. And, who knows, you may end up liking it a lot!
Anyways, to anyone who may have missed out on this series the first time, and is looking for something light-hearted, fun, and a bit "ecchi"... give this show a try. It's a great one to watch a few episodes at a time over the course of a few days. And for what it's worth, I think that if you like it for what it is, you'll probably find it very re-watchable. The situations are still funny and cute the second time you see it, and knowing the ending doesn't really change that (once you see it the first time, you'll understand even more why I say this). I'm definitely going to watch it again, because I enjoyed it a lot.

I'd say Onegai Twins is pretty enjoyable sequel for Onegai Teacher. Haven't seen it all (ep8 so far), but it's increasing in my polls.
While Onegai Teacher was a lot more serious on some matters and much more emotionally loaded, O Twins goes a bit more on the fun side, but this does not bother me.
Mizuho is ok. really. Kei barely shows his face, but since 2 years have passed, I wouldn't expect him to play anything significant here and I'm glad he does not.
The rest is another story.
Matagu is diferent with his obsession with his sister really annoying.
Ichigo Morino (everyone here calls her Morino, while Ichigo was used mostly in Teacher) has a completely twisted character this time with her stalker behaviour and devious smile. If Onegai Teacher never existed, she would've been ok. But that's not the case.
A bit confused how everyone accepts the oddity of Marie.
The little girl with the dog at the beach was nice to see again, and her breaking binoculars :) :) :)
Got extremly tired fast with all the "we're relatives" and "or strangers", but in 7 and 8 they give it a rest a bit so it's ok.
The guy hiting on Maiku was really annoying and though it looks like a filler episode, I'm glad that's resolved now.
The girls and the loads of so called "fanservice" are pretty ok as the fluid animation combines things to look quite natural. Seeing various older french, german, polish, czech, etc movies that don't consider themselves so outrageous as hollywood driven stereotypes claim lessen the impact. I mean it's neither bothersome, nor to be hunted/drooled upon.
Cutest of them all was the "Love alliance" between the two girls and I'm very curious to know how it turns out. A couple codes can be pretty hard to uphold, regardless of the outcome, but it is also a nice way to dream of being together with your loved one.
Yeah, it's different then Onegai Teacher but I don't think it's less good. Few imported characters could've been a lot better, but the theme of it being different I really don't expect the same feeling as Teacher. So it's ok.
Anyone knows when the OVA will appear? I was wondering if i should wait and put the whole series on one DVD including OVA or not.

Thanks kj1980!!
I had some information on the Kizaki-ko & Matsumoto City area and where some of the locations were, but your links really help!!
After watching Onegai Twins and Teacher, they became my 2nd favorite series next to Kanon. And I must admit that I am one of the otakus in the sense that I'm travelling to Japan for all of February, and my final portion of my trip was heading over to Matsumoto City and Lake Kizaki to visit all the places I could.
(And it's off topic, but do you know where "Hinata-sou" and "Haruka's Coffee Shop" are? From sources I have, it's in Yamagata prefecture, but that only helps so much. If you know of any other places, of any other series I would appreciate it too!)

And, as an aside, I just finished watching through Onegai Twins a second time, I still loved it. It's such a cute and nice series, and I was able to appreciate the ending even more this time through. I really enjoyed it.

Many places in Love Hina are scatterred throughout Japan. However, if you want to visit the actual model for Hinata-sou, then you should go to Yamagata Prefecture, Obanazawa City. To get there, you need to take the Yamagata Shinkansen "Tsubasa" to Ooishida Station (It'll take you around 3 hours and 40 minutes to get there from Tokyo Station). There should be a bus terminal nearby to take you to the Ginyama-Onsen area, which have numerous places of interest from "Love Hina."

Okay, sorry for bumping this topic yet again, but it's time to ask... the questions nobody has been asking about Onegai Twins!
(If you've never seen the show before, I suppose is somewhat spoiler material, but I'm going to try and stay as generic as possible.)
First of all, is it just me, or is everyone's minds permanently in the gutter in this show? Like, whenever a girl is crying in a guy's lap, it can't simply be that the girl is crying in the guy's lap. No, it must mean that the guy is forcing her to...
Second of all, when a guy is holding a girl that has fainted, nobody at all thinks "maybe this girl needs medical attention", but they're all thinking... Even the guy trys to say "it's nothing", even though he's all embarassed! Why is that?
Third, when a girl trips and falls on a guy, accidentally kissing him, which then results in her fainting, which then requires her skirt to be repositioned properly, why does this always mean a definite suspension from school? Is it his fault she was clumbsy?
And finally, I wondered what the heck is so special about an "indirect kiss"... or buying someone clothes for that matter... now, a real kiss or buying someone a ring... that I could understand. Are these girls just too heads-over-heals in love for their own good?
Anyways, that's all I've come up with for now, although I'm sure there's more. I really enjoyed this show a lot, as you can tell, and of course these questions don't really need answers. Just a few of the weird things about this show that made it so funny and fun!

Hmmm first of all, it is not everyday u see a girl crying on a guy's lap. NATURAlly People would expect it's somthing sexual because first of all people who see it have ecchi on their minds not to mention i said that it is not everyday you see a girl on a guy's lap> PEOPLE WOULD ImmeDIATELY SUPPECT the guy is ... to the girl.
Second of all, yet again you don't see a girl faint everyday. people would look towards where the girl fainted to see if she needs assistance or something, it doesn't mean the people think they are doing something sexual or something. The guy is embarrased becuz he thinks other people are thinking that they are doin something sexual.
Thirdly, that Maiku is in is WACK. As Karen mentioned in some episode, it seems like there are only two senseis in the school when Karen's swimming class sensei is replaced by the alien sensei(Forgot the name). And they actually lock down a school under student president's (the girl who smirks, yet again i forgot the name) order becuz there is two suspicious character running around the school. Anyways, maybe people thought that Maiku was taking advantage of Karen but then that wouldn't be possible becuz only people who knew Maiku pretty well saw him kissing Karen and stuff. I don't really understand about that suspension either.
Finally, Karen and Mina is defintely VERy HEAd over heals in Love with Maiku plus they want to treasure every minute with him. And at that point of the show, they still didn't know who's related so they want to treasure any kisses or gifts they recieve from Maiku. At that point of the show, they can't kiss Maiku due to LOVE ALLIANCE Rule # something... So Mina treasures that indirect kiss. As for Karen, the gift she received from Maiku was something she liked and well if you were a girl who is seriously in love, wouldn't you treasure anything your boyfriend gave u.
That about sums it up!!
Basically it comes to the nature of Onegai Twins -series. In some other, more serious or dramatic series it would be just that, nothing special if girl is crying in guy's lap, but in Onegai Twins (and countless other anime-series) most of the humor is derived from sexual situations, then it would be "natural" to any character that see that kind of otherwise innocent situation to think that something... else... is happening.
Like in typical Love Hina scene, Keitaro comes to see Naru when she is chancing clothes, makes Naru always think that Keitaro is pervert and then sends him flying in the sky.
I wondered what the heck is so special about an "indirect kiss"... or buying someone clothes for that matter... now, a real kiss or buying someone a ring... that I could understand.
Symbolism. Well, in fact I'm not sure but "simple" kiss and buying presents seems to be big deal in anime, so those situations are handled differently than same kind of real life situations in western world.
Just my random thoughts...
And I really enjoyed this series, annoying at times, but in the end funny and enjoyable series.
I hope there will be third Onegai -series. I want more Mizuho-sensei!
Edit: Unmei beated me...
And BTW, what's with the other version of the picture that shows all three of them together?
They totally did not bother with it in the TV series.
Is it going to show up in the OAV or something?

Thanks Unmei and Kensuke for your replies! As I said, they were sort of rhetorical questions, as I already knew the answers to them... but thank you for answering them anyways! It's just some of the wierd things that make this anime so funny... I love it!
And, Marin, do you mean the picture they showed at the very end of the last episode, or another picture? Also, when you say "they did not bother with it in the TV series", is this series based on a manga or book (forgive my ignorance)?

Since I enjoyed Onegai Twins so much, I'd be glad to give you a play be play (it's from memory though, so it may not be perfect!).
After carefully observing the infamous childhood photograph, Karen makes a startling realization - the photo had been taken from another house! So she decides to go check out this now abandoned house and discovers a diary, which reveals the secret. After this realization, she is obviously distraught.
Karen arranges to meet Maiku, and asks for him to take her out on a date. After a fun day of wondering around town, Maiku asks Karen if she has discovered the truth about everyone's relationship to one another, to which Karen responds that she has. He tells her that it's okay with him if she keeps it a secret, and that things can go on as they have been. Not being able to hold back her feelings, Karen professes her love for Maiku, but adds "the reason I love you is obvious... it's because I am your twin sister!"
Although she had already broken the love alliance when she asked Maiku on date and confessed her love, she decides that it is still important to go home first and be the one to reveal the truth to Miina. Upon hearing the news, Miina is somewhat happy, but also quite distraught with the realization that this means that things would have to change. Karen affirms that, now that the truth is revealed, Miina would be allowed to confess her true feelings and to love Maiku, as the Love Alliance stated.
Once Maiku returns home, Karen is panicking that Miina had taken her bags and left! Maiku sees Miina in the distance leaving, and so runs up to stop her. Without saying word and with tears in her eyes, she turns her back to him and continues to run away...
(To be continued right away in the next post...)
Hum you should perhaps tag some spoiler tags for those who hadn't seen the end of this anime yet? :)

Maiku returns home early in the morning after searching for Miina all night with no result. Putting on a brave face, he tells Karen "Once she gets hungry, she'll return home". Karen is quite sad, because her greatest desire is for the three of them to continue living together in the same house. As she enters her class at school, with a sad look on her face, she looks to the seat where Miina usually sat... only to see... Miina! "Myu...."
Karen discovers that Miina had stayed over at fellow classmate Haruko's house for the night. (Haruko is the girl with the hentai brother who is obssessed with her.) However, Miina will not utter a word to Maiku. When asked, all she would do is present him with a note that said "I'm keeping it a secret" (or something like that).
After a full day like that, Maiku is frustrated, but is at least relieved to see that she is still around. He decides to go visit Miina at Haruko's house, but Karen dissuades him, arguing that it would best in times like this for them to talk together as girls. Karen packs some extra clothes for Miina, and heads off to Haruko's house.
Karen and Miina have a little heart-to-heart (in the bath, of course!) where Karen once again affirms Miina's welcome in Maiku's house and life, both from his perspective and her own, despite the fact that she is the "stranger". "There's no one else who I'd want to be Maiku's girlfriend; only you." Miina says that, above all, she really still wants to live in the house with them, but is no longer able to face Maiku now that she is able to fully accept her feelings for him. She asks for Karen and Maiku just to give her a bit more time.
Upon returning home, Karen explains to Maiku that Miina is alright; that she just needs time to work through her feelings - to discover her "now". When Maiku asks her what exactly Miina's "now" is, Karen says "that is something that you'll have to hear directly from her". Maiku notes that, even after the truth was revealed, he still thinks that Miina and Karen are more like true twins. Karen responds that "We are twins, even though we're not related by blood." Right then, though, Haruko comes running up in a panic... "Miina just left my house, and she's heading to the train station! I think she may be leaving!"
After rushing to the train station, Maiku finally confronts Miina about all that has gone on. He affirms once again how much he wants her to stay living with them. When Miina confesses her worry about the fact that she's a stranger, he dismisses it... "We'll just get married, then. That way we can all stay together forever." "Was that... a proposal?" "No no! It was an example!" Miina exposes her deepest fear... "What if our feelings change? Then, I won't be able to stay with you anymore." Maiku also dismisses this fear "You worry too much about the future. What do you want to do now?" "I want to stay, living with you and Karen, in our house." "Then, do so." And, after all this build-up, Maiku and Miina finally kiss...
"You can't do that!" Karen yells as she runs towards him. Of course, she trips and proceeds to knock Miina right out of the way and, you guessed it, falls right on top of Maiku with a kiss. Upon realization, and with a "Myu...", she proceeds to faint. When Maiku puts her skirt back into place, he is met with applause and congratulations from... Kousei! "Not even I could pull off something like that!". It turns out that everyone had gathered to support Miina's love and were watching all this time! The whole thing was actually a setup orchestrated by Haruko! "Definitely grounds for a suspension", the student council president says.
With feelings revealed, Karen, Miina, and Maiku return to their house. "You're not fair, Karen. I thought you were supposed to support my love!" Miina says. "Yes, but Maiku's still my brother!" So, now, they take a new photo - of the three of them - beginning this new chapter in their lives. They do not know for certain what the future may hold, but they pledge that the three of them will stay together, forever.
"You know, Miina, it was actually you and I in that photo from way back then", Maiku added in the epilogue. "Yes, I was sleeping at the time", Karen says. "We were all together, even back then..."
And so ends my plot summary! I hope this makes sense, and that I got the order of things right, as I am doing it all by memory! Onegai Twins has gotta be one of my favorite shows, just for the pure light-hearted fun of it all, but with just enough depth to make you care for the characters. I enjoyed it a lot, and had fun writing this summary.

In both series onegai twins and onegai teacher the president (forgot name) plays a big role and i believe she always knows what is going on with everyone.

Way back when they were children, Maiku, Miina, and Karen all lived in the same house, even though only Karen and Maiku are related. They don't really explain *why* Miina lived with them back then (as they don't know), but their Mother's diary revealed this to be the case. When the photo was taken, though, Karen was asleep, so it was Miina and Maiku playing in the pool. So, all along, even though they were fixated on the photo as the clue to who was related and who wasn't, it wouldn't have revealed the truth anyways.
I hope that helps clear it up a bit.

No problem! I'm just glad that I'm not the only one who likes this show. It seems as though a lot of people around these boards didn't like it much, as it devitated a bit from Onegai Teacher. Not having seen Teacher yet, though, I really thought Twins was great! I'm also hoping for a third series (and hopefully I'll get to see the first season in the meantime. My poor wallet though!)

Hmm... I'm not sure... did you notice anything censored in Twins, by chance? If so, what sub were you watching? (I was watching AonE-Inf, and don't remember noticing anything that may have been censored in the sub, but who knows...)
Edit: As a total aside, I've been reading some reviews of this show, and I'm surprised at how many people considered this show to be extremely "ecchi", mostly because of the nudity. But, for some reason, I didn't really find it to be that "ecchi" at all, simply because there really was very little sexual about it at all. To me, it was like "oh, they're having a bath, so they're naked". Sure, it was fanservice, but I really didn't find it to be over-the-top at all, for some reason, mostly because of how down-to-earth those scenes were. I mean, I don't even think girls would find it offensive... a bit obsessive and over-used maybe, but it just didn't seem that perverted to me because of the way it was played. A lot of people also found it "ecchi" and taboo because of the "we might be family" side of the story... but once again, I didn't find it "naughty" or anything. If anything, I thought the story was more cute than anything else, and the slight (and I do say slight) ecchiness of it only made the show more fun. I guess I'm just trying to understand the criticisms that people have of this show, and having a hard time with it.

Do you have an example of said uncut photo file? I'm confused! So there was some photo leaked on the web about Onegai Twins that showed... what?
Without knowing anything about this, my speculation would be... perhaps they leaked a photo to mislead people? (Like get people thinking they've got the ending all figured out, only to end the series an entirely different way?) As for the anime, it's pretty clear who is and who isn't related. (A lot of people seem to get messed up by the epilogue, though, where they talk about the childhood photo, but that doesn't change anything.)
Anyways, I need more info, because now I'm curious. Where can I find this leaked photo file?

Even in the end of the anime the statement still haunts me, because it put the whole series down the drain for me. I hope there is an OAV to clear everything up.

It was the same one the 3 of them had except this one was not cut at the right[or was it left=p] side of the picture. It showed another kid standing right there. I can't believe nobody remembers about this because everyone was making a big fuss about how everything was spoiled!

Odd, because in the anime they ended up saying that Karen was asleep for the photo, thus she was not "cut off". (Besides, I didn't even know or notice that the photo was cut off... Is there any evidence it was cut off in the anime?) Perhaps it was a fake, or published to deliberately mislead? I wasn't around these boards when all this happpened at first (when OT first came out), so that's why I'm so uninformed.
I've gotta admit, though, I'm genuinely baffled by the fact that so so many people (not just on these boards) were confused by the ending of Onegai Twins. The only thing they really didn't clarify was why all three of them knew each other as children, but the "who is and who isn't related" bit seemed crystal clear to me.
All this is, of course, unless the OVA comes out of the blue and totally messes the last episodes up by revealing that, "guess what, we're all actually related, after all"! I guess we can only wait and see...
So, just out of curiousity, was it the epilogue lines that led to the confusion for most people also? (Where they finally revealed about the photo?)
Yes, I remember the pic. It was said to be leaked from the production studio after the finish of Twins and before it was actually aired. The pic was several inches longer, as if the kids' pics were cut. In the "cut" pic, you see a toddler boy and girl playing naked(why they know one's a boy and one's not) in a baby pool. In the "uncut" pic, you see another baby girl with long, green hair standing naked about 10 feet to the right of the pool.
My guess would be that, if it wasnt a hoax, then the producers were working with several variations concerning just how far they should take the "who's related?" question, and how much they should suggest potential incestual love. That is, maybe there was another ending where one of them fell in love and the other discovered the picture, and either they were mortified or maybe they decided that it just didn't matter any more. Of course, in the early stages, there probably were a few different ending plotlines that the producers were dealing with and fleshing out. Whatever, the plot that we got was good enough for me.

Yeah, as you say, even if it is real and authentic (and who knows, it could still appear in the OVA), it wouldn't really have changed anything about the question of who is and who isn't related. (The alternate plot you suggest could have been pretty funny and awkward, though...)
In my opinion, at least, the whole point of the ending sequence was to tell us that the childhood photo really never mattered, since it wouldn't have led them to the truth. They took a new photo of the three of them together because that is what mattered going forward - that the three would stay together.

Well I felt good about watching both twins and teacher (in that order, though it would probably have been better the other way around) in that they were interesting. Agreed, twins had much less fan service than teacher, and was the better for it. it didn't need to rely on SF and deus ex machina soap opera plot twists (memory wipes, traumatic youth) to advance the plot, though I felt that teacher would have been better if the reasons for kei to have his standstills were developed earlier in the series so that the overarching theme would be the overcoming of the desire for purgatory. But I guess that wasn't what the story was about: forbidden relationships. an R&J theme.
I felt that twins was about the nature of relationships and the artificial barriers erected by social traditions. Sure, it had weaker conclusions, but the drama was indeed more plausible and more human in its interplay.

I definitely agree with what you're saying. I watched the two in that order also. I agree that Teacher seemed to rely on the plot twists more to sort of "interfere" with the main relationship. In a way, you could say that this is because the relationship was basically settled early on during the series, so the whole rest of the series was just sort of to answer the question of how exactly they got there. That being said, many of the plot twists were very interesting in and of themselves; it was still a very well done and enjoyable show. (You should just buy the DVDs though!)
Also agree with your analysis of Twins - people harp on it at times for being too repetitive ("are we related, are we not related?") but that is because, unlike Teacher, they didn't use a bunch of twists to throw wrenches in the main issue. It was the one issue that drove the whole show, and the resolution of that issue led to its conclusion. So, while that may have made it less deep in terms of plot, it was a much more plausible human drama. Unlike Teacher with all it's sci-fi, you could really see something like Twins happening in real life. So, that's just one of the reasons why I also found Twins very enjoyable.
Edit: I just noticed that I probably should have posted this in the other thread you posted this message in, as it's more on topic there. I realized that you had cross-posted, but I didn't notice till after where it was cross-posted to. I'm not sure, but I think that cross-posting is pretty frowned upon on these boards... Oh well...

I generally agree with relentlessflame's view on Onegai Twins, light-hearted, more down to earth, goofy at times, but there's one thing that's bugged me since I got about a couple of episodes into the series, and that's Maiku's name. There's part of me that thinks that Maiku's name may be Mike instead.
Think about it for a moment if you will. All three of the main characters are only half Japanese, so they had to have gotten they're blue eyes (that everyone's obsessed about) from the parent with a western heritage. Also, Karen's name is obviously western, and when she talks to Maiku, to me it sounds like she's saying "Mike-san", not "Maiku-san". And since it’s discovered that Karen is his sister, it is not out of the realm of possibility that Maiku/Mike would have a western style name as well. I don't know much about the Japanese language, but from the anime that I've watched, I don't hear many Japanese words that end in a hard consonant. Especially a hard "k" sound. I think it is possible that Maiku is the Japanized form of Mike; just like "Maiku" is the Romanized from of whatever kanji you would use for Maiku (I told you I don't know that much about Japanese).
What do you guys think? Does this theory have any basis in logic? Or, am I the only person on this planet who's thinking too much about this and should just sit back and enjoy the series for what it is? I can go either way on this. Help me.

You do make a good point, easy westernization of names would seem to be a good idea for companies since they are being cofinanced by american companies, perhaps it is a new trend.
I enjoyed the series, but I like Onegai Teacher better.
**SPOILERS BELOW....sorry....I have to ask some questions**
At the very end, Maiku explains that Mina was lying down in the picture, does this mean they were childhood friends? Also, if they're not related, why does Mina have the same eyes as Maiku (I'm willing to believe it's pure coincidence)?
I'm sorry if these seem like stupid questions, but they sorta bug me. Thanks for helping me. :)
I think this indicated that they were actually triplets. I mean the title of the last Episode is titled Three Person Twins, or "Triplets". And them having the same eye color would support that idea. But even i'm not 100% sure. If they didn't make the title and the ending that way, i would have thought Mina was not related, but they did that to confuse me. :( Anyone who knows for sure care to clarify this?

Spoiler for last couple episodes:
The picture was of Maiku and Mina. Karen was in the house napping. Mina is not related to them. The way I see it, the "Triplets" thing was to point out that, despite their unrelatedness (did I just make up a word?), they were still all three very much connected to one another.
Responding to the earlier post about the Maiku/Mike topic, that actually does sound pretty logical. Japanese words always end either with a vowel or an "n" sound, so Jappifed english words end up with extra vowel sounds tagged on the end, usually. Like "backpack" turns into "bakupaku." And if you've ever seen Trigun, you notice how "Vash the Stampede" ends up sounding something like "Vasha da Stampedo." Heh. Cowboy Bebop is another good example of this. So the idea that Maiku = Mike is a pretty good one, although the thought never crossed my mind while I watched the series.

onegai twins IMO dont deserve the 'onegai' name, it's a let down for me because onegai sensei was just so much better, had better characters in it and the 'fun' aspect of this series isnt done very well, yea i have to admit, there were a few laugh out loud moment, but it doesnt even compare to those heartwarming and similes you get from onegai sensei.
the way this went was a bit like hack sign and hack dusk, in which hack dusk was much happier and also a sequel, but in this case i thought hack dusk was better.

I know a person who has practically (well, I couldn´t see the difference from 50cm or so range...) the same eye color as I do. Does that make us related to each other?
EDIT: Well, I met him once ;P
The blue eye color is probably very rare in Japan and would pretty much indicate foreign ancestory. Probabilistically, Mina's twin is Maiku (hence, they're triplets) considering all these "coincidences" stacked on top of each other: the three all have blue eyes; they are all looking for their long lost twin after being abandoned as a child; they all have the same childhood photo; they all recognize the same house in their childhood memories.

Actually I'm one of those people who liked Twins beter then teacher, most likely because I saw Twins first then got Teacher after I saw it. So i wasn't really too attatched to Kei and Mizuho. I like twins more because it had more tear jerker moments for me... since I don't have any sisters... only three brothers... soo soo soo sad...
Can't wait for the OVA hehe. Btw is there any difference in the TV and DVD verisons on animesuki besides quality. Anime Fin puts out a DVD verison, but most the time there are no seeds. And the qual on my Anime-Keep one is fine.
Side note, I got Twins off Overnet! this was just when I was getting hooked on anime and had no idea what BitTorrent was. Sad i know, hehe now, I am an anime fiend! you won't believe my collection of anime. I have about half the series on this site either on my comp or burned to DVD, over 50 titles i have ;-)

I think I agree with you. I actually felt a lot more attached and could relate more to the plight of Maiku, Miina, and Karen, more than the struggles of Kei and Mizuiho. People accuse Twins of having too much "we might be related, we might not be related", but in the same way Teacher had a lot of "we can stay together, we can't stay together". The relationship in Teacher just seemed less "human" to me, despite the fact it's sort of a pun in context. That being said, Teacher is a great show, I just think that I personally liked Twins a bit better...

The video and audio on the DVD version is higher quality (obviously), but there are a few occasional problems with the subtitles. I've been downloading it anyways (mostly because Onegai Twins is one of my all-time favorites), but it's not as if the quality of the original fansubs were bad. I suppose it's possible this will get revealed in the OVA, but I would be pretty surprised. Karen seemed pretty convinced of what her mom's diary said. As explained in the show, they all lived together as children (they were neighbours), which explains most of the coincidences. As I said, though, the OVA may change things.
Hmm did Onegai Twins just get licensed? I don't see any links to it's fansubs anymore.

Yup, it was announced as being licensed just a few days ago at the Anime Boston convention.

Hmmm if that's so, are we still able to download the OVA when it's released?
It wasn't what I expected. I was thinking, "OK, sequel, good, more M&K, or at least more aliens." I was kinda bummed when Karen, Mina, and Maiku turned out to be human. And what was with the whole town knowing of Marie?!? If some little creature in footie pajamas and an innertube came floating up to me, I would run like hell. And why in the heazy didn't they find out about their mom? What was that?
Summary: the only redeeming factor aobut this series was the predictable, yet funny, ecchi moments.

Yeah, that's sadly true. Another interesting fact was that it triggered like....a gazillion posts centered around the ever annoying "incest" topic....that was priceless^^
Ahhh, the good old times, what wonderful memories....not *sigh*
Watch, in the OAV, they'll discover they're actually triplets and go to bed together. Wouldn't that be something . . .
Not.

I especially loved the swimsuit one where they were trying to makesure maiku wasn't gay!
A funny and eechi anime.. . some of the momment making my nose bleeding :heh:
As a crazed fan of both Teacher and Twins, I think Teacher was a better piece. At least in Teacher, they give nearly everyone some degree of serious character development. In Twins, I really don't like how Matagu is demoted to something so worthless as that, and as for the interesting new addition of his sister, she's also completely ignored. The show's focus around the twins and Maiku, in my opinion, didn't really work either. All we get is a whiny repetition of "We might be related ... we might not be related", followed by a discovery that KAREN is the related one!? I find that quite disappointing. If they were going to pick at all, they should've picked the one that was more likely to put up a fight. Picking out meek Karen, who would submit to Miina without a peep was the cheap, easy way out. Or better yet, it might've also been interesting to have all three of them be related. It's quite a very, very big cliche how whenever two people who are related fall in love with each other, it ALWAYS turns out that they're actually not related. It would've been a very huge risk, but exploring the conflicting feelings of "No, we're related" "But I love you so much" clash against each other in a situation where the concerned parties actually are related.
Very disappointingly, however, the show takes the easy way out.
So, both Onegai Teacher and Onegai Twins weren't truly brilliant pieces, but Teacher was a bit better done. On an unrelated note, however, I like the music better in Twins. :heh:

I could've sworn that at the end of episode 12 it was mentioned that Maiku, Miina, and Karen are actually triplets. The whole deal about the picture... how the 2 pictured were actually Maiku and Miina while Karen was inside the house taking a nap.

No - Miina and Karen are twins "in spirit", but not by blood. They did grow up as neighbours, but Miina is not related to other two. There is always the possibility that they will reveal more in the OVA, but that's how things stood at the end of episode 12. Karen and Maiku are the twins, Miina is the outsider, but they will all still live together.

Maiku and Karen are twins. Miina lived with them back when they were children but is not related to them. So in that picture it's actually Maiku and Miina (since they were "childhood friends"), and Karen was taking a nap.
Hmm, when does the OVA come out? I thought it would be now :/
There are some screenshots up already. That's the OAV, right? Geez...talk about lolicon fanservice.

It was a decent anime.
Not deserving to be under the Onegai title.
In other words, If it were NOT the successor to Onegai Teacher, It would have been a good anime.
Because it is the successor to ONegai Teacher, more was expected, and less was delievered. meaning T3H SU/<

 I don't think I'll ever understand people... It's not the "successor" to Teacher, it's another story that takes place in the same town... Oh well, I know what you're saying: in comparison, you liked Teacher better. If there's a third one, though, I hope you let it stand on it's own merit rather than comparing it to other shows.
And also, as an aside, one day I hope to figure out why so many people misunderstood the ending to Twins. Did it all happen too fast or something? When people read subs, do they only read every other line? If they misunderstand something, don't they go back and watch it again? It's honestly a real mystery to me...

It is the sucessor. The successor is mearly the next thing to carry on a given name.
Onegai Twins is the successor to Onegai Teacher because it was the next in the line of the Please! project. Making it the successor.
There in, if it was an independant anime. It would have been half-decent.
however, Because it was the successor [ The next in the series ] of Onegai Teacher, It was bad.
Why was it bad? Because there are certain ideals, and a certain level of story expected from such a series. And, IMHO, Onegai Twins did not live up to those ideals and story level.

I had a long post describing it in a way that you should understand, but the site had a orgasm and messed up, loosing my post.
So I'll just say this.
Successor is simply the one that carries on the name.
Your child is your Successor.
Pentium 4 is the successor to Pentium 3.
Onegai Twins is the successor of Onegai Teacher.
Onegai Twins ep.13 raw is out. I'm quite disappointed at both the animation and the story. A pure fan service episode for Onegai Twins fans....

hmm intresting the problem is I didn't even know onegai twins was liscenced ^^ So it probably means it was not so long ago and that the serie must have been re- thinked or something. If I recall well the story finished at episode 12.. so anything that restart the plote must be... so-so I guess.

So, does this ep 13 related to the first 12 episodes??? An alternate ending perhaps?? Or is it simply a side story which only contains fanservices to satisfy ecchi-guys? :heh:

Same universe, no alternative ending. ;)
Basically it's an episode to show all the characters in onegai teacher and twins and more skin shots.

haiz. The ending has a twist. The picture is actually taken with minna and maiku. Maiku parent's house is old so they take it at a new house nearby. However, karen is the twin but not in the photo.( Somehow, i dunno) she recieved the photo so she can find her brother. While minna recieve it for her to remember her childhood friend. THat should be the true meaning of everything. It explained y they both came too.

Well on the ending of last episode, everything gets kinda clear.
If you like the anime, you should also read the novel, since the outcome is not the same, if you know, what i mean. ;)
Manga too has the 'different' ending.
