I generally think it's ok.
Just some very dumb scenes like dancing while fighting. Those scenes made me laugh so hard. Really HILARIOUS!!!.
Love the girls though, Im pretty sure that's the only reason people actually watch it.
Personally, I like the show. I think it's pretty good so far. ^-^ Although it's still kind of weird because magical girl shows don't make very good liveactions in my opinion. ^^; Oh well. I still like it~

I like SMLA very much :D It´s so fun!! yep, me too found some scenes quite silly but then again those are most of the ones that make me laugh harder ^^
I like it´s not a carbon copy of the manga or anime story and we are getting a closer look to the personalities and family situation of all the girls.
Only bad pints I still can´t addapt to are:
-Luna plushie/puppet xDD (I know an full time CG Luna is expensive but they could have done a better plushie)
-Youmas xDD (same as Luna, hope they could do all youma in cg but guess the budget does not allow it xP)

When I heard they were going to perpetrate this, I swore myself I wouldn't watch it unless it had:
a) Nude transformation scenes
b) That pair of lesbians
So far, no joy :frustrated:
BTW, wasn't Sailor Mars supossed to be wheelchair-bound (<-joke for those fans with memory, hehe)

it was funny i was just browsing the site and i hapen to see the sailor moon live action. iv seen the anime version and i didnt really care for it. But i like to give all things a chance. so i downloaded he first episode. UM ya lets just say i stayed up untill 5am downloading the rest and watching them all. OH and ep8 is 10% done lol.
OL sailor moon just got herself another fan.
JAPANESE CHICKS RULE!!!!!
I passed this up a few times already, so I thought i'll dload ep1 just to see how it compares to the manga & Anime series. After watching ep1 I find it quite funny. When an anime/Manga show is done in live action it just weird seeing all the characters, its hard to get used it but i'll be dling the rest of the episodes I find it interesting. The sailor babes r cute too...

You shouldn't assume things.
You are right, I shouldn't assume things.
All in all, I really like it.
Personally I think the live-action series has more emotion than the anime.
Can't wait for sailor venus to join the team.
I keep watching it, but it never makes it to my CD burner. Mostly it's the fascination of watching a train wreck. Many of the scenes I believe were literally shot with a hand-held camcorder.
I'm not 14, Japanese, or female, so a lot of the show gets lost on me. In fact I'd be ashamed to admit I watch this, if not for the semi-anonymity of the Internet. The blatant marketing, the karaoke, the ceaseless pimping of Minako or whoever that singer is....
About three or four episodes in, I had a thought that made me shiver in horror, as it couldn't be true...OR COULD IT?!!? You know that C'est La Vie song they are ALWAYS playing. And you know how they are looking for Sailor V. And notice how "C'est La Vie" and "Sailor V" sound almost identical especially with the Japanese accent.
Yes. I'll let you think about that for a second. Is that a groan of ultimate suffering I hear?
And the latest interaction with Minako and the piano guy unfortunately seems to make this theory all too believable.
Serious brain-damaging material there. Actually I'm awfully sad that the parody fansubs are no longer being produced, they made me laugh way too much. Especially the parodies of the commercials....Evil Kitty Evil Kitty Evil Kitty Buy our new Evil Kitty Mind Control Candy Now! Basically the parody fansubs were the reason I was watching this.
I would have to say that Rei is not exactly difficult to look at, either. This disturbs me, though.
BTW, wasn't Sailor Mars supossed to be wheelchair-bound (<-joke for those fans with memory, hehe)
I thought they had actually found episodes of that and were distributing it, I was so sad when I found out it was just a Japanese drama :(

I find this show a challenge! Why?!! you ask? Well, because I've been watching the raws first. Really the show make a pretty good language tutor, in much the same way Sesame Street did when I was a kid :)
Anyhow, this means for better or worse, I had to watch very closely - sometimes repeating scenes several times until I could untangle the dialog. Here's some thing's I've noticed.
* Ami's glasses are not prescription - they're just plain glass, but she was embarrased to be seen without them! What?!! I know plenty of people who are embarrassed to start wearing glasses, but it's not like people start off wearing them. I could even understand it as a fashion accessory, but what on earth could make a child suddenly so embarrassed about showing her eyes *naked* that she'd get fake glasses? (PS this in no way changes the fact that - live action or not - Ami is still a hottie!)
* I swear to God, Sailor-V sounds like she almost has some kind of U.S. Southern accent (and a rather trailer-trashy one at that)! I don't know how that's even possible speaking Japanese, but just listen to her when she talks - kowai!!! :heh:
* Against all odds, I'm actually rooting for the pet shop turtle guy to hook up with usagi over Tuxedo Kamen (who's alter ego seems rather more creepy here). Just think, he could become "kame kamen" and toss pointy reptiles at youma! Ah, Gamera would be so proud.
* They all looked so kawaii in their Ganasta b-ball gettup! I predict these girls all have a bright future ahead of them in Japan's adult entertainment industry. :naughty:
Since following this show I wonder what Drangon Ball live action would be like. Probably similar to this without the cute girls of course. :)
I follow this show, it´s so funny, unintentionally funny of course.
i like this live action sailormmon. but i absoulutely detest the fighting, it's liek i cna't even laugh, i look away form the screen thingking.. i'm 17 watching this show meant for kiddies or sumthin. i made a mistake, i dl the first 4 n burned them b4 watching. now i wish i had those cds back, lol. i still liek to watch b/c that nephrite i think (piano player guy) is cute. lol

Personally I'm loving this series. ^^ Ami-chan is so cute~ And there are so many throwbacks to the manga (I'm hoping Sailor V will keep up her Princess guise :D) that it makes it a refreshing change from the anime.
Also, the storyline moves fast. There won't be 30 filler episodes before we get to Sailor Venus, that's for sure.
It looks like next week Usagi uses her Moon power for something. I really want to get to the part where she becomes the princess. But that won't happen for probably for a couple of weeks. Since Sailor Venus hasn't discarded her 'fake' princess appearance.

I think I actually like the non-fighting scenes better than everything else. As weird as some of the plot can be, the character development in this version of the show is really strong. In particular, the extra time spent on Makoto's heart being broken after losing her parents and true love, and Rei's wretched relationship with her father are excellent. The manga had a nasty habit of tossing in a detail like that, but then ignoring it to spend more time on Usagi. The anime just did it's own plot points. This show has really grown on me.
Oh, and of course there's the pantsu-happy fight scenes. Gotta love it when they start cart-wheeling in pursuit of a villain:)

I can't believe that I'm hooked to this series!!!
Actually the first time I saw this show, I wanted to kill myself because I am a slight male chauvinist type of guy and there is no way that I can bring myself to watch it. However, after watching several episodes, I realized that I've gradually fell in love in this series. Maybe it is the cute babes who are attracting me but I'm quite convinced that it is the atrocious acting, the crappy CG and a lame story which took my heart away...
Perhaps you can call me a sucker for cheesy cheap low budget amateur production...

Perhaps I should set up a poll voting for your favourite Sailor girls....
Does anyone know how long the series is going to be?
Okay who's addicted to the new Live action series of Sailor Moon?
While it has an incredibly cheesy plot, horrible action scenes and bad acting for 50% of the cast... the fact remains I've been downloading every episode religiously, watched every episode with great attention and I want more.
People who dunno much about Sailor Moon will probably think it's cause of the young japanese girls, transformation ecchi scenes, the mini-skirts, the sailor uniforms.
You're wrong. It's the fact that as a true Sailor Moon fan who's seen all 200 Episodes and all 3 movies, to see Sailor Moon be reborn once again with real actors and follows somewhat the same plot brings back good'ol memories.
Are you a Sailor Moon fan? Do you love the new Live Action series? Do you hate it? Why? Post your comments here!

Well i think Sailor Moon is a good anime, but i dont realy like it that much (its not meant to target my customer group anny way). The idea of making a live action series is interesting (isn't there a GTO live action to?) but probably has a high risk of failure.
Live action tends to be on the cheesy side :heh:
I don't know about GTO but isn't an Evangelion live action in the works o.O
I watch sailor moon Live action just to laugh
its soo bad =) yet funny
so I'm addicted =p
Smoon fan here. Seen all 200 eps (even the missing ones that were NEVER shown in over here in NA). I kinda liked the live actin series, but i havent been downloading it because I am a somewhat perfectionist. TVN has some fairly bad grammar errors in some of their subs, and that other group who had the good subs was doing that horrible parrody :(
Anyone know if TVN subs have improved any? Or is there another group doing it?

My guesses is that they made it a bitt silly on purpouse. I dont know the budget of the projec but the special efects are somewath impressive (Luna is so cute, sort off). Allthou i belive the live action is more focused on the cute and cirly parts and the anime is more focused on the romance and "evil power" parts. The show may nott be that good but because it can make you laugh it is well wort a lock.

I actually think the acting has improved somewhat from the senshi from the beginning of the series. Which isn't too surprising considering I don't think any had much acting experience, they were just cast looking japan-wide for girls to play Senshi.
It's still pretty campy, but it's enjoyable. I think the guy playing Kunzite is doing a pretty decent job actually.
Too bad they skipped the Kunzite/Zoicite relationship. Looks like Nephrite/Naru is gone too unless something changes.

The girls picked for this show are all mini-idols and models and actresses and singers. It's not fair to say that they had no experience. They are growing into their roles, that is true. Episode 14 was great insofar as the girls all had to show a lot of love for Usagi - Ami-chan again(!!) was so cute it made my head spin...
It's nice to see people enjoying the cheeziness of the show. I liked the original Ring movie for the same reason, and I am all over this show.
It's all good, too, that people are watching it and getting embarrassed about it and then coming back and watching it the very next week. Eventually these people will be absolutely shameless about enjoying whatever they want to, which is a crucial trait for any anime fan.

That's pretty much how I felt about the cartoon when it came on tv. Embarrased but compelled to watch. That's one of the reasons why I like the live action version, it gives me the same feeling I got when I use to watch the cartoon version. It used to come on way early in the morning so I would set the vcr and tape each day and watch 5 episodes during the weekend. I wish I had saved those tapes.

52 acts is not a lot, if you count that there are five seasons to Sailor Moon. (1st Season, R, S, SuperS, Stars). But I highly doubt they will get to Sailor Stars. =)
Its Power Rangers for chicks. My 6yr old daughter loves it. I think its retarded:D
My 6yr old daughter loves it.
Your six-year old daughter can read subtitles at a brisk pace? Or does she only watch the <5 minutes worth of "fighting" in every episode? Mmm ... I can't think of any other live-action girl superhero show, so I guess it's the only thing she can watch. Hee hee!

I spent most of the episode pounding my head against the desk (I now have a nice dent in the wood...) in either pain from the mutilation of a fun anime, or at the... well, pretty much everything else.
Then again, maybe I'm just anti-live action. :p

She catchs a lot of it. She's been readind and watching subs since she was 4. Slayers, the one with out all the T&A (next?) and angelic layer were her first.(hehe she still plays with her angelic layer action figures:) ) I do have to watch them with her 2-3 times to help her pick up some of it though which is the shitty part but it's good quality time and comercial free. After that she pretty much has the memorised and can spout off the dialogue while bouncing around the room being a sailor goon:D

When will Minako be integrated with the group? They've been hinting at this
since the beginning. I know she doesn't appear until later in the anime series,
but here, you see Minako very often. She's everywhere (being a singer-idol and all).
I just want to see the girls' reactions to Sailor Venus' true identity.
Does the LA series follow the manga at all?

The live-action series is somewhat loosely based on the manga, though at times it seems closer to the manga than the anime, believe it or not. There's some similar events that take place, and in particular, some small details on the girl's backstories that the manga mentioned only briefly (probably due to time constraints) are fleshed out much deeper, such as Rei's relationship with her father.

I think the show is going well. The acting is better than it was initially. The girls seem to be the characters rather than just playing them. The pacing has picked up, too, and the production seems like it is improving.
From the teaser at the end of 16 it looks like Minako is going to be getting more involved.
hehehe watching this show, honestly, reminds me of the days(at about 2 summer ago) when i watched about 5 mins of power rangers first and i thought my eyes were gonna explode and made fun of it with my friends and all but secretly started watching more and more of, till i became complely involved and otaku...

Yeah, I know how that goes. I did the same thing with the original Sailor Moon. (*laughs*)
But, I really don't like the live action. Maybe its because I stopped watching it at episode five, and the acting still sucked there... or, as I said earlier (And someone attacked my reputation for it, grrr...) maybe I'm just anti-live action.
However, I will probably download the rest of it and watch it on my comp too, just because I can't stand leaving something unfinished. (*laughs*)

Yes the series will have at least 50 or so eps. The DVD release schedule for R2 was announced at 13 DVD's with 4 eps each. If the final volume doesn't have 4 eps, that's around 50-52.

As was stated, the show is going to 52 eps. If you absolutely HAVE to have your LASM fix, the raws are usually up within 8 hours of airing on Saturdays, meaning that you can grab 17 raw now. TV-N has been really good about getting the new eps out subbed regularly on Thursdays as well.
Yes, there's more than 16 eps, like exedore said

along with many other things. I can't wait for episode 18 now, cause I seriously want to know how they are going to resolve the mamoru/hina/usagi love triangle. I feel for Usagi though, cause I know how that feels, when you like someone and that someone is already taken. I don't know, but the realization of Rei that Minako was Sailor Venus after she did her henshin sequence was priceless. Along with the fact, that Venus confirms by saying those things to Rei that she is the leader of the senshi, and that she expects them to be better. I can't wait for more :heh:
Sailor Venus' transformation was priceless. It was obviously the best one I have yet to see ^.^ I am eagerly awaiting for the next episode to come out, to bad thursday can't be tomorrow though :heh:
I also wanna see how they are going to have Usagi come to the realization that she is indeed the Moon Princess. That is unless they are going to keep in carried on that Venus is the Moon Princess. But, I wouldn't like it that way. In all seriousness I am mainly watching it for that point alone. The 'Love-triangle' will also be neat to see how that is resolved.

"Venus Power! Make Up!"
You see her doing some gymnastic moves. :)
It's definitely the best transformation sequence out of the five.
I downloaded this thinking it was gonna be something to laugh at...but like everyone else I started getting hooked.
Put a vote in for Ami-chan from me for fav Sailor Senshi. God damn she freekin hot. Specially when she's mercury....and that episode when they were in kimonos..*drools*.

 Ami-chan is a goddess we mere mortals should consider a priviledge to look at. They all look cute but she has got what I have heard some people refer to as "IT".
It will be interesting to see how Rei responds to Venus after she regains herself. She was pretty much in shock after finding out who she was. Rei is too strong-willed to allow any bullying. You saw how she reacted to the equally strong-willed but more playful Mako-chan at first.

Lots of neat stuff in #18. Plenty more about Usagi x Mamoru, Rei and Minako... nice to see how Makoto and Ami always stick up for Usagi. The interaction among the girls has always been the best part of any Sailor Moon series for me.
Even the fight scenes were interesting. Seeing the 5 senshi all lined up was awesome ^_^;;
Looks like there is something else going on with this "6 months" stuff...
Valentine's Day episode looks like fun...

Spoilers for those who have not seen #18 yet.
Hina is Mamoru's fiancee?! What will Usagi do? :hmm: She gives Valentine chocolates to Tuxedo mask, of course (in next week's preview)! But we all know they are the same guy. :heh:
As for the 6-month thing:
They showed Minako with blurred vision during the taxi ride. Some kind of brain tumor?
And I think I figured out the whole Sailor Venus is the Princess business.
Sailor Venus is only pretending to be the Princess. She knows Sailor Moon is the real princess. The plan is to divert the enemy's attention to herself (and she packs her stuff and runs away).

Yeah I got that too. Ep 18 spoilers. Especially when Minako tells Rei to never leave Sailor Moon's side ever. I think that maybe even Rei will figure it out from that. At least she looked like she thought something was fishy about it.
i'm glad the live-action didn't quite stick to the anime story line. it makes thing a little more interesting. curious to see how it unfolds ...
After watching to episode 18, i'm pretty sure i'm ominously hooked on the show. IT has something the anime has not yet to accomplish and it stick to the manga instead of the anime. That way, it provides the fans a new start to sailormoon. I hope it gets better. The Venus and Mars conflict is one of my favorite, especially the duo between them.
And sailor v's LOVE ME CHAIN is awesome.

Hehe, I first saw SMLA and I use to love sailormoon when I was young so I took a look at it. At first I thought it was some kind of cosplay but didn't know it was actually a show in Japan. I found it quite funny to watch the transformation and stuff.
My fav is Sailor Mercury, she just looks so cute.
Couldn't believe it actually became something I would burn
Just finished watchin ep. 19 and I'm gettin more and more hooked each time I watch it...kami-sama save me if they keep goin with neptune/uranus/pluto/chibimoon/stars/etc. sagas.
Anyway...@ the end of ep. 19, in the next ep. preview, Miyuu (usagi/sailormoon) mentions something about a sailor moon campaign. Anyone know what this is about?
DrWho2002

It's just a campaign to sell merchandise for the show. There's a couple prizes that can be won for sending in stuff found on boxes of the merchandise for the show. Needless to say it's only available to the people in Japan.
Episode 21 was best evar! Dark Sailor Mercury is da bomb. Her dark henshin rules...
Episode 19 was so cute. Love how Usagi and the kid cruise around town. It was hilarious when she said "i will not lose to that women!"

Well, at first I hesitated if I should watch it, but my curiosity got the better of me... :heh:
So I watched some of it. Gladly, it's nowhere near the atrocity produced by Satan, err, Saban back then which made you want poking your eyes out with red hot pokers
While it has some nice elements, it also has lots of cheesy and freaky stuff, like:
- the costumes are utter crap and look plain awful. Moon's pink boots (and other pink stuff) nearly made me throw up :help:
- it looks really freaky that they look so different in their "normal" form... the hairstyles and -colors in their transformed forms look very poor, and they eye colors absolutely don't fit... never heard of colored contact lenses?
- no nude henshins... :( :( :(
- they made Luna into a tiny blue plushy :twitch: They should've done something like Salem in "Sabrina".
Yeah the live action stuff is sort of bad. I didn't like it at all... Then again though I was never a big fan of sailor moon to begin with.

Am I the only one to find strange that Chiba is not aware of the fact that Usagi has a crush on him? Of course, it spices up the lovestory... but considering what happened every time he, hina, and usagi bumped into each other, he should at least have some hope.
This live action is even more addictive than the tv series, thanks to the focus on the characters and their relationship/feeling between each others.

Hey! What do you mean!? Lots of fanservice in them fights... and the fights are indeed better than they were at the beginning.
Seems like they are slipping with the talking cats... I thought they were gonna use CG, not just "walk" a stuffed animal across a table or whatever - that was awful! I kind of missed the dialogue in the scenes with the cats 'cause I was looking for the hand or the wires or whatever.
I think Sailor Moon lives and dies by the interactions between the Senshi. The villains always seemed gimmicky to me even in the anime, repetitious in how they do things and kind of similar to each other.
It's nice to see a show with just the 5 Inner Senshi after the roomsful of characters they brought in for the later series.

Having something like that to laugh at made it a little more bearable until the interactions took place. I'm just waiting for the fights to go all out, first Power Ranger group before they disbanded them hardcore. The fights got wicked for like a few episodes and then they got new Rangers and the fights were corny again.

The anime is boring. All the characters are the same and all one dimensional. The battles are just each senshi doing an attack and then "SAILOR MOON YOU DO YOU ULTRA SPIFFY FINISHING MOVE" and that's about it. The live show has real drama, characters that do more than just use special attacks and it has a real story.

When I saw the first episode, I was totally flabbergasted. It was the parody sub that I watched first, so I was, of course, laughing right along, but then after they stopped making the parody subs, I switched to the (excellent) #tv-Nihon subs. It must have been around episode 7 or 8 that I got some horrible feeling in my gut that told me that I actually liked the show, and I wasnt just watching it for camp value anymore.
I'm really not sure why. There are still totally cheesy funny parts(sailor V's superlong Bollywood-esque transformation sequence in episode 17, for instance) which I love, but I found myself also caring about the characters, maybe even more than in the anime series. Also, the love triangle between Hina, mamoru and Usagi is much more interesting and dramatically done than the romantic intrigue in the animated series. Maybe I only feel that way because it's with real people, but I still like that aspect alot. Yess, every one of the figting sequences is horrible, I'll agree, but I dont think I'm watching it for the fights(haha, maybe amateur gymnasts are, though?), but the everyday emotional interaction between the characters, which seems much more real than it did in the series.

About the Usagi-Mamoru-Hina triangle...
Makoto finds out Mamoru is Tuxedo Kamen. Oops! How will this affect them? :twitch:
I guess that since she did not told her about Chiba being engaged (even though she does regret it), she won't tell Usagi about this one too. Plus I cannot see Usagi believing such a thing without any proof. But since this secret is know by one of the senshi, I expect Usagi to learn about it by herself in episodes 22 or 23, since they will be busy dealing with dark mercury in 21 ^^ And after this... huh... I don't know why, but I have the feeling that Hina will have some kind of accident. I would be hard for Chiba to dump his childhood friend.
Does anyone have a clue about what Kunzite is up to? Obviously he's not working for Beryl's sake. Beryl is even wondering if he recovered his memory, but...
(It was like this in the Sailor Moon RPG, it is probably like this in the anime too)
Initially, Jadeite, Nephrite, Kunzite and Zoisite were followers of prince Endymion, then they got brainwashed by Beryl. It would explain why Tuxedo Kamen was somewhat familiar to Zoisite, but if Kunzite had his memory back, he would not fight against the senshi, right?
DrWho2002

I think it's just because Kunzite is working for Queen Metaria's sake (or more likely his own - there's been more than one time when Queen Beryl had to tell him off). Either that or he's just a perverse general.

Well seeing as it is a new take on the Sailor Moon mythos, and as they've gone on their own storyline (which isn't a direct adaptation of the manga or anime - for ex. the whole Dark Mercury thing, the love triangle with Hina, Mamoru, and Usagi), I wouldn't be surprised if it's going to an entirely new character. This does make me wonder though if they are going to just be doing the Dark Kingdom storyline though.... I don't think they'll have time to get the R or any other storyline IMO. Maybe if the show is extended another year after this one, that would probably be more likely.

What was a bit disturbing for me was this "church" arc. How can Rei be christian? Apparently, she hasn't even read the ten commandments, which clearly state
I. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
I wonder how that fits with the fact that she's a shrine maiden. Though I guess it's not unusual in Japan to have this mixture of Shintoism and Christianism. (I'm only guessing here, would be nice if somebody from Japan could tell me more about it)
Lots of fanservice in them fights... and the fights are indeed better than they were at the beginning.
Well, yes, you see their "pantsu" quite often. However, why would they add it if the target audience is 12-14y old girls (unless they traget lesbians)? This steamroller tactic to attract older viewers just looks displaced. Reminds me of Carnival, where you have special girls jumping around and showing their panties aswell here in Germany (apparently, the concept of a "Funkenmariechen" is unkown in the US, so that was my best shot in describing it).
In my opinion, the fights are as atrocious as they were in the start. Youma shows up, transformation bla bla followed by a stupid pose from the senshi in several shots. Then as many pantie shots as possible by doing cartwheels and jumping around while being 5m away from the enemy. Senshi fires one of 2 possible attacks, Youma dodges, Youma fires an attack, senshi gets hit, other senshi shows up, double senshi attack, youma defeated. Me being a guy I wish they would stop doing this panties showing thing (or at least use real panties, not those full contact suits) and start some asskicking.
They did say it was an original one, just for the live action series.
Of course it's going to be somebody different, they are able to sell more merchandise that way. And that is obviously they key point of the show. I mean, I have seen ads for "free giveaways" (please fill out this form about income, household, age, sexual preference and you're able to recieve this great sailor-moon ballpen) in other shows, but those were like 1 time in a 40 eps show. Till now, I think we already had like 4 giveaway specials in 20 eps.
And just read the sponsors during the OP (not those Bandai-key to fun ads, the one before), you can be sure that Usagi is wearing a pullover that says in mega huge ass letters "LoveMärchen" (btw, hillarious brand name, means "love fairy stories") or any other brand names they mentioned.
went to the girl's site and uhhh... does anybody besides me think its a bit wrong to list the body measurements of a girl that young?
Hey, what's wrong with selling your body when you're 11 years old?
Who cares about morals when you can make money with it? That's the wonder of capitalism.
Those ears though, there will be no sneaking up on her.
lol, this kid is the best. I first thought that her hair would cause her ears to stay in a 90 degree angle, but they stayed in that position over the whole show. I know it's low to make fun of the physiognomy of others, but nonetheless. We have ugly people on TV too, but usually they don't get casted for anything else than talkshows.
The acting is better than it was initially. The girls seem to be the characters rather than just playing them. The pacing has picked up, too, and the production seems like it is improving.
I don't know, but if I compare this series to US series targeted at teenagers like Dawsons Creek (sorry, can't think of a series that is aimed at 12-14 year old ones, DC seems to be trageted at 14-16 year olds, but it will do in a comparison), everything just looks cheap. Usagis actress can't even run properly. And those cases of emotional release are just scary. She's playing a total dork. Maybe that's intended and not the fault of the actor though, I never watched/read SM before. And the production value is still as low as it can get. They still use those plastic props, stuffed plush cats, enemies that wear costumes which look like taken from the next junk dealer etc. Well, at least they have a good amount of outdoor shots.
However, I still enjoyed this show a lot. It's just so below average, it's fun again. Sometimes you just have to appreciate real trash. The special attack of Sailor V when she defeated that one Youma with Rei in the church was so hillarious. Venus Love Chain, lol. And it even looked exactly like a sex toy. Unintended humour is the best. The interactions between Usagi and Mamorou create some sort of tension though, but as it's a girls show, it's pretty clear that it'll be a happy end. Can't wait for a subbed 21 ^_^

That's not their pantsu.. ^^;; The sailor suit is a body suit. Like a bathing suit but with a skirt added to it.. Even when you see the transformation sequences in the anime, you see that Usagi gets a sort of body suit before the skirt appears.. You seem to be aware of this, though. Ok..i just saw 21 and I need to say that all the sailor senshi need to take fighting lessons from jupiter (from when she fights kunzite)
I think it's just indicative of how the fights have been getting better as a whole but I will admit Jupiter seems to be the best. She always was the best hand to hand fighter though if I remember the cartoon correctly.
Dark Mercury is so hot. Why are the evil ones always so sexy?

I like her eye makeup.
Makes her look even more beautifull than she normally does... Ok, I'm a bit crazy about Dark Mercury.
*is repeating herself*
I love Dark Mercury's eye makeup too, it's got a goth thing going on.
She's the youngest of the actresses in the show, but in my opinion she's the best. I was really surprised when she turned into Dark Mercury, I mean, she did act completely different. I wonder if she's going to play in a J-drama after Live Action Sailor Moon.
Anyway. ^^ I'm usually not fond of the goth look, but I like how Dark Mercury looks. I love her uniform.
I love how they make her "bad" by increasing the makeup...

give it a few more episodes before you decide ^_^
It does get better as it goes along :)
Atom XX
I'm totally addicted to it. My friend and I can never wait for the new episode to come out, and then all we do the next day is talk about it. It does get much better as you go along.
LIke they say, give it a few more episodes and i think you'll like it. I'm totally addicted to it. I just finished watching episode 21, it's excellent. I can't wait until 22 is out!
I am addicted too ! It is defintly worth watching ! :) !
It depends. I'm personally addicted to it, but a lot of people I know hated it. ^^; Before watching it, you must consider a few things:
-The personalities of the characters are MUCH MUCH MUCH different from the characters in the manga and the anime, which can be deceiving.
-The story is different.
-The original music wasn't kept.
-The actors aren't that good, specially at first. [ ^^;; sorry ]
-It's cheesy.
It does have good points. It's very cute and the costumes are great. And it does get better. It seems really bad at first if you aren't used to the idea, but you might get used to it like I did.
Like everyone said, you gotta give it a few episodes before you decide if you wanna keep going. I thought this was something that I was gonna make fun of and laugh at...and for the first few episodes that was how it turned out. Then I found myself wanting to see how the next sailor senshi's transformation sequence is...getting slightly hooked by Mars's transformation. By the basketball episode, I knew that I was hooked (for all of you who saw this episode..you all know what I'm talkin about....kawaii!!!! :heh: )
So..give it a bit of time before sending it to the Recycle Bin. :)

Oh boy, I'm slow.
I just realized that they're probably replacing the Dark Prince Endymion storyline in the anime series, with the Dark Mercury storyline in the Live Action series.
The similarities just hit me (after watching #22).
She's the youngest of the actresses in the show, but in my opinion she's the best.
How old are the rest of them? Including that actor who plays Chiba Mamoru? They all look really young. At least younger than 20 or they're just aging really well. Very jealous of their skin, no pimples or anything. :T

The ages of the cast
Usagi (16)
Ami (14)
Rei(17)
Makoto (18)
Minako (17)
Mamoru (20)
I liked how 22 didn't see them cure Ami right then and there, it's good that they don't solve things too easily. I agree about them replacing the evil Prince Endymion with Dark Mercury, although they could still go through with the Endymion brainwashing, although it would seem a little redux at this point.
It's also a nice touch that Usagi's tear hitting the amulet kicked off some of her inner-magic,
spoiler for anyone who hasn't seen the animesince it's how the anime scene when she remembers her past and the Silver Crystal is revealed kinda plays out. She's got the crystal in her and since part of it's magic is that it bends reality to the users wishes, that explains how the mittens were repaired.

A Dark Mars would kick so much ass.
Episode 22 almost had me a little misty there. It will be interesting to see how long they stretch out the Dark Mercury storyline and whether or not they stretch it too long or end it too early. I agree that ending it in 22 would have been way to quick but I dont know how much of this Sailor heartache I can take. Even before Dark Mercury everyone was pretty depressed.
The ending of 22 was great. It left me wondering if Mamoru get his memory back and will Zoisite join him?
EP 23 was great, I'm so excited to see 24 now.
Rei vs. the Karaoke Machine was great. "I hate Karaoke" hahaha. And the attack Mars did rocked, though I wish it had been a new attack, would have been even cooler.

Man, I thought Rei blew Nephrite apart. That was such a cool moment. I agree her attack should have been renamed for it, but hey whatever ;)
I also think the actress playing Rei has a better singer voice then Minako, she sounded very good in this ep.
One other thing. I don't believe the 4 Generals(Nephrite,Zoisite,Jadeite,Kunzite) were ever actually together at the same time in the Anime. I may be remembering it wrong, but I think when Jadeite is punished for failing Beryl so much he's turned back to a gem and never re-appears again and that's before Zoisite and Kunzite have appeared. It's neat to see them scheming against each other in this episode, although it looks like Nephrite's about to get killed off.

I really like how the storyline is kind of veering off on its' own.

It's "NOT" Chibi-usa, Saturn, Uranus or Pluto. It's one that was created for this series and is still a mystery. No word on what the "BRAND NEW" storyline is going to be either.
I just saw raw episode 24. Damn, it's getting really good! This one episode made me want to download the entire series again. -_-;; I really like the way Usagi found out that Mamoru was Tuxedo Kamen. That "Who are you calling stupid?" line, so she's not as dense as in the anime. Though I was disappointed that Jupiter's "real power" didn't awaken in this episode. Wanted to see that. Who knew this series would be so addicting?

Well... They said in this ep that the four "generals" were initially followers of prince Endymion. My guess is that they have been brain washed by Beryl, thus she was scared of Zoisite when he did start to get his memory back. Kunzite kept his memory, but has a grudge against Endymion from the start, for some kind of betrayal. I hope we'll know more about it later. In any case, It does not look like Zoisite feel like he has been betrayed by Endymion. Too bad he was stronger when he was on the evil side :uhoh:

Yeah... "Whose senshi is the best singer?", and Usagi would win hands down with her wonderful singing of C'est la vie.
I would love to see a special episode, where all the characters would be singing C'est la vie (including Beryl, Jedayte, Nephrite...). Wait, maybe it's not such a good idea, but it would be fun nevertheless.

Um..... That would be rather creepy :uhoh: In fact, its giving me ideas of seeing Beryl singing. She'd probably sing like a man >_>; Now I wouldn't mind Zoicite playing the piano for that.
I do agree though that Rei sings better than Minako does. Maybe they should switch the singing process. And by the looks of it maybe Usagi finally remembers her past. I .really. want to see that happen. Though knowing my luck, it will probably happen at the end of the episode and leave us all with a horrible cliffhanger XD

well I'm asuming they ment its not power rangers it reminds you of because power rangers is just a whole bunch of japanese shows choped up and spliced together with some footage that the americans made to make power rangers. so the fight scenes are actualy from the japanese sentai shows.

I think I saw a "Best singer poll" on genvid's forums and Rei was really beating up on Minako.
Minako's actress has a more childish-sounding voice, which can be a bit grating and sometimes it's more 'sing-songy' like spoken word in a singing type manner (if that makes any sense)
Rei's actress definitely has the more mature singing voice, she sounds like a very good singer and doesn't over-emphasize every word she's singing.
BTW, I agree on the cart-wheels. Can't they find some out of work wire-fu dude from Hong Kong or something and bring him over to Japan? ;)
Although the fighting had improved ALOT from the first 10-episodes, in the past two or 3 episodes they've gone back to more cartwheels/spinning. Although we still see some karate-kicks.
The main thing that's been annoying me in the past two episodes... Did anyone else notice the annoying helicopter sounds? I guess they were shooting on location in that building and helicopters were taking off and on a lot. Guess I just take hollywood shows for credit, where they can do more sound-editing.
As for as plushy Luna & Artemis. I think they blew the budget on Luna in the first two or three episodes. We saw a lot of CGI-Luna. Since then it's been like 95% plushy Luna.

i'm going to have to say that the helicopter noise must be some strange sound effect added to the background music because there's no way, with all the other sound editing and mixing they're doing, that it would make it into the final cut if it weren't so. especially not twice or more! okay it's low budget but it's not that low.

Anyway...I $#$#% love this $#@% series man! I keep going back to ep 23 and watchin Mars sing and do her powerup...or back to ep21 and watch Jupiter put the smackdown on Tuxedo Mask.."I should have hit him one more time." ROFL :heh:. But yeah..I love this series!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Haven't read the other posts in this thread. Sorry if I bring up things that have already been discussed.
Here is what I think about the show.
I find it very weird how people say that they hate it and still the dl/ul on AnimeSuki is ALWAYS over 500, so there's something wrong. Sailor Moon has A LOT of fans! :)
About the series... At first, I hated it. Then it got a little bit weird, when they started to stray off the anime version (in story sense that is) and the whole love thing between Usagi and Mamoru is just stupid. That was better portrayed in the anime...
Also I think that the series is improving now. If you look at the last two episodes, they are really cool! The storyline is beginning to get more exciting and they always have surprises for us who watched the anime. Furthermore, the special effects are getting better too and the direction of the show, I think. Just watch Kunzite's attack in the latest episode! It looks very Final Fantasy-inspired (the games, not the movies/anime).
I also like the bad cliff-hangers. They're not really cliff-hangers that makes you "want the next episode NOW!!" like Naruto's cliff-hangers (which by the way is getting a little annoying now), but they're more like cliff-hangers that are REALLY obvious and not just because one has watched the anime. Everyone knows who the Moon Princess is and who she was married to and that means Sailor Moon will be married to Tuxedo Mask, which means Mamoru will fall in love with Usagi. Nooo?
Well... the storyline is pretty obvious and basically, the show is just a Power Rangers-rip off (just think about the Youma in SMLA and the bad guys in PR) and unless it does something cool soon (like turning Mamoru into the evil Master Endymion and turn him against everyone like he is supposed to do), they will probably lose a lot of fans. Because they're really hanging onto the "Oh no, Mamoru has a girlfriend/fiancée and Usagi is in love with him, no in Tuxedo Mask, no in Mamoru, Queen Beryl will resurrect Quen Metallia and oh no Kunzite is turning on Queen Beryl". That's like 30 episodes already! So they should make it a bit faster.
That's what I think. :)

Yeah in "Power Rangers" they often have 5 young girls who henshin and become magical girls. In "Power Ranger" they often have a love story between two of the main characters. In "Power Rangers" They have the girls doing alot of karaoke. I do not know where you get it's like power rangers. And the youma thing those kinds of monsters have been used in Japanese Tokusatsu shows for years. It has nothing to do with Power Rangers since Power Rangers is just footage from Japanese Super sentai shows spliced with bad acting and other garbage from american actors. And why do you think he or anyone is "Supposed to do" anything? This is not the anime nor is it the manga nor is it the Myu's. This is a new take on sailor moon. And both moon and non-moon fans are enjoying the new story twists. And no it is 25 episodes.

:twitch: Dammit...I need the next ep!!!!!!!
I noticed @ the end of the theme song in ep 24 that tv-nihon had ppl donate $$ so they can buy Sailor Moon DVD's. I'll gladly spare some bucks if they need more. :heh: I NEED MY SAILOR MOON FIX!!!! :twitch:
Just to clarify:
Tv-Nihon did not solicit the donations. There was some bad blood between one of the t-v nihon people and folks from another forum. The thank you was just that - a thank you to those of us who showed support.
This person had gotten sick, and could not release things as fast as usual, therefore, (s)he was called names and bashed about by the people in the other forum.
I started a campaing of support by making a donation and encouraging other salior moon fans to do the same.
After the dust settled, the tv-nihon people decided to buy more region 2 dvds to encode for the people who really understand the fansub community in general, and T-V-Nohon in spacific.
BTW, you do not have to donate, just drop by T-V-Nihon and thank them. Let them know that their hard work is appreciated. I too am an anime junkie. I am 41, and still in university (How's THAT for fan boy presistance?) and more addicted to anime than ever. Thank God for otoku

LOL? When I said "That's like 30 episodes already!" I was referring to the description that I just had written. Here is it again if you forgot:
"Oh no, Mamoru has a girlfriend/fiancée and Usagi is in love with him, no in Tuxedo Mask, no in Mamoru, Queen Beryl will resurrect Quen Metallia and oh no Kunzite is turning on Queen Beryl!". <-- JUST that will be like 30 episodes. That's what I meant.
Okay, I'm sorry that I said that it was a Power Rangers-ripoff, but you have to admit, it REALLY reminds you of Power Rangers! And Power Rangers is a classic! Ah... how I miss the 90's.
The reason one connects this show with Power Rangers is because one has grown up with the 80's nostalgia shows (like A-Team, Knight Rider, MacGyver, Airwolf and so on) which also includes Power Rangers (but that was in the 90's).
Also the Youma behaves just like the enemies in Power Rangers. No, Power Rangers doesn't have five girls with magical powers, but it DOES have three boys and two girls, which totals in FIVE. Also they have powers of their own. Sailor Moon has Queen Beryl, Power Rangers has Queen Rita and they both have some connection to the moon (Rita lived on the moon (?) and Beryl wants to take over the moon and the Earth). Both of them have their share of half-loyal underlings (Rita had some monsters of whose names I can't remember and Beryl has Kunzite, Nephrite, Jadeite and the other one who I think was in love with Jadeite in the anime). Both of the shows contain a feature of duality (good vs. evil) and people turning against each other (Green Ranger was evil, then good. Tuxedo Mask was good, then evil, then good again and Sailor Mercury in the Live Action-show turns evil also, but eventually (hopefully) back to good again). I don't quite remember the Power Rangers show fully, but I think they had some love story between Jason (Red Ranger) and Kimberly (Pink Ranger) and somewhere I think the Green Ranger came in (which kind of reminds me of Hina-chan's interference in Live Action...). Also the fighting style looks the same. They never hit each other, EVER. And that's the most obvious thing.
The list of comparisons can go on forever. Just like your reasons for why it is not like Power Rangers.
And why do you think he or anyone is "Supposed to do" anything? This is not the anime nor is it the manga nor is it the Myu's. This is a new take on sailor moon.
Well... duh! But is still an adaptation of the anime/manga! I never said that I disliked the plot twists, rather the opposite! But sometimes they tend to be too much and stray too far from the anime, which I don't think everyone likes. As if Beryl dies and Kunzite takes the throne and he kills Sailor Moon, so Mamoru seeks solitude and meets with "the princess" Sailor Venus who both fall in love and suddenly it's a totally different show!
Not only that... I think that they were focusing too much on the mufflers. Come on! About three or four episodes JUST ABOUT THE MUFFLERS! Yes, you made a muffler, no, you can't give it to him, yes, he has a girlfriend, no, you can't give it to him, yes, you can give it to Tuxedo Mask, no he doesn't have a girlfriend, yes, you are in love with Tuxedo Mask, yes, you are in love with Chiba Mamoru, yes, Tuxedo Mask told you to give it to Mamoru, no, you can't give it to Mamrou because of his fiancée, yes, the four of you are best friends, yes, you all like karaoke...
And all that they repeated OVER AND OVER during the three or four episodes! It was getting really annoying! That's why I liked the last two episodes more than any of the other ones, because they jumped out of that loop. But soon they will be going into another loop... Tuxedo Kamen and Chiba Mamoru is the one and the same. And staying in that repetitive manner will make me lose interest in the show, which I wouldn't like, because I really like the show!
Keep up the good work, Sailor fans!

I just caught ep 25. Once again they've outdone themselves on this episode. Usagi is pretty cute in her Serenity dress :). OH!!! And the preview for the next episode looks killer!! Jupiter looks like she's up to kick some booty!! :heh:
My only disappointment so far is that its going to end :(. I hope they keep going w/ the Pluto/Neptune/Uranus saga. Maybe even Stars..but they might be too old by then :twitch: ...but then they'll be legal!!! :thinker: ROFL!!

EPISODE 25!!!
Wow that was a good episode. Kinda similar to how she's revealed as the Princess in the anime, but it was a really cool moment. Only downside is they didn't have a song playing when Usagi became the Princess.
Looks like they get power-ups in the next episode. Which I guess is the season finale? Don't know what kind of a break is planned, but it looks like the fight against Queen Beryl and Metalia would be in season 2, and next episode will explain the fall of the Moon Kingdom.
Did anyone else totally not recognize Ami-chan when she first appeared in this episode in civilian guise? I was like "whoa, that's Ami-chan?" LMAO. She was dressed so hot in civilian mode, it was so unlike the normal Ami-chan who's usually pretty conservative.
I don't know why Hina wouldn't realize Mamoru thinks of her as a sister, he was raised in their household afterall. I feel bad for her, but I also wish they'd resolve the storyline and move on.
Oh yea, looks like Zoicite is evil, he just doesn't want to kill Endymion. He blames the Princess for what happened and leading Endymion astray I guess.

Like Luna said it was an ill-fated love, it was forbidden, but Endymion went and had a relationship with her anyways, probably ignoring the Earth while the Generals were all having a hard time maybe.
There won't be any real break in airing. Ep 26 will air on Sat. April 3. On the 10th PGSM will not air due to some golf game being broadcast (or so I've heard), and then it will be back on April 17th.

25 was great! I'm just kinda upset they didnt have her hair up in buns or anything when she became the princess... I always seem to remember them saying that her hair style was a moon family tradition and I remember in the manga she was so upset that her hair grew longer and she kept cutting it and it kept growing back.... and that moon on her head looks kinda strange to me.. I think they should have it further up on her forhead or something. I'm hopeing mamoru will remember the past and finaly tell hina that he cant marry her... just because her father raised him doesnt mean that he should have to marry her. cant wait for the next episode! I want to see how they explain the fall of the moon kingdom.

 I've been downloading the fansubs from Tv-Nihon and when I got to episodes 24 and 25 they were upsidedown. Has anyone else had that problem? I had to download the raw version to actually watch it since trying to read upside down subtitles were giving me a headache. It is weird because the thumbnails on the screen show the times as normal, but when I go to play it they are upside down. Does anyone else fansub SMLA or is it just TV-Nihon?

I wouldn't mind at all if the new Senshi is Luna and she stays in human form instead of that cheesy plushie that switches eyes ;___;
seems like lil' girl acts decent :p
I was looking at website about this show,( http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=2961 )and they had info on the cast.
And as I see there have been coments on the cast and thier singing and acting abilities, I think they are doing pretty good for 16-18 year olds in their first acting jobs, and intresting that Ami's actress is the one with a cd out.

Woohoo! #26 has a preview of the new senshi...
Her fighting pose is very "catty". I guess they don't want us to think she's Chibi-Usa. :heh:
On the other hand, this drops the chance of seeing Chibi-Usa in this Live Action series to 0%. I doubt they'd put two pre-teen characters together in the same show. It'd get old real fast.
What's up with Mamoru?
Hina "dumps" him and he gets on the plane! Is he pulling an early exit from the show, like he does in Sailor Stars? Is he coming back? :hmm:
