I'm pretty certain I have seen that avatar on NS forums too. ;) In any case, the animation is nice although the dark theme doesn't really fit to a forum with opposite theme (have the same fault, I know). In overall the avatar is quite nice.

Miari - Simplicity gone wrong. The red border here is too solid, the resize took away too much details from the picture, and the transparency background simply looks boring couple with the thick red frame. Meh. :eyebrow: 6.7/10

you know, I only come here if I see a great avatar or one that interest me, and this time is Lady Yanami's!!! the memories! I watched all hellraiser by the age of 8 (I should be a seriously disturbed individual, but Im not!) and nothing has been more scary, freaky and terrible in my life, when you have that child innocence, horror movies can be really apreciated more, not to say that I became insensitive to this kind of things AT ALL, I can stand any guro or its variants. There is no way that I could make an avatar showing what my avatar character does. Mainly, he skins people for pleasure and makes them suffer. I think skinning people for pleasure is perverted. And any monster that looks like him, considering what happened to him to make him that way is disgusting. Embarrasing cause I have no border hmm....well maybe I just don't want to be like everyone else and follow the crowd. And i didn't crop that image in any way, that is the image, all I did was size it to what was allowed. And where in the rules and such does it say ALL avatars have to be perfectly square?


It does make sense. The character's name is Chatterer. He's horribly scarred on the top of his head from things he did to himself while he was living. Then he solved the puzzle box (see sig) and wires pulled the skin from around his mouth back, stretching the skin and causing a lot of pain, suffering and bleeding. No he can't speak, but his teeth constantly chatter (as if he's always cold). Watch Hellraiser sometime and you'll understand my character. Only true fans of Clive Barker and his series would understand my avatar and such.

Glad there's another fan of the series out there. The hellbound heart was a terrific book. I'll have to get the site to you, I found a place for used books for like 1-2 bucks and they have a whole bunch of Clive Barker books, including Hellbound Heart. Cenobites ^^ The female though didn't have a name, just referred to as the female cenobite. But I digress, I rate your avatar a 8/10 It's a cool looking av, decent frame and the effect with his eyes is cool. It's simple and not too gaudy. Those are usually the best. Very well done ^^

Your critical analysis of my avatar intrigues me. Let's recall your monster avatar, it's obviously from a picture that you found on a searchengine. Then thrown into photoshop, and cropped and resized. A most valiant attempt to sound as if you put much effort into your avatar as well. Now I know that you're going to say you have a life, blah blah blah. The general concenous is that, Nobody Cares about you or what you do outside the forums.

I took your mention of my border being original quite litterally, so I decided to look around the forums to see if someone has anything resembling my border. Alright, already, I made a new border. A few minutes with Google has shown me that transparency is actually pretty easy, although a few minutes experimenting has shown me that MS Paint is better for drawing borders than MS PhotoDraw.

hooliganj - I definitely think you should've adjusted the contrast/brightness for this scene, and for some reason it looks grainy even though it doesn't use that many frames. 7/10

PK - Matching Sakuya avy! She has her signature look here, and I like the vertical scanline much more than horizontal, so that's a plus. I'm not that fond of the corners...they do make the avy stand out from the rest, but I don't think they match that well with the image. 8.8/10

STfan - Not a bad scene, really, but there are a couple things I'd like to point out: unless you have a good reason, I don't see why the GIF isn't 100 x 100. There's a brief pause after the end of the sequence that should be dealt with to make the loop smoother. In one of the frames you can see a glimpse of Rukia's hand whereas it's nonexistant everywhere else--edit it out because it's a distraction. I don't think a border is absolutely necessary here, but making a simple 1-pixel black border wouldn't hurt. I grade harsh on GIFs, but once you've dealt with these things, this is a good GIF. :) 8/10

It's ultimately up to you; some people rate based on how much effort was put into making the avy, and some rate based on how much they like the avatars. I'm in the latter group. The base score I give out is 8/10 (sounds a lot nicer than 5/10, no?); that score usually means I don't like the avy that much, but I don't see anything wrong with it, either. For avys I do like, I usually start out from 9/10 and add/subtract based on how many things I liked/didn't like about it, so a potentially good avy can end up getting 8/10 as well. For ones I love at first sight, I start out with 9.5/10...and I go over 10/10 if the avy makes me want to hump whoever is using it.

I have a stricter process for GIFs. Is it a good scene? Does it looped well? How is the picture quality? Do I like it? Would I consider stealing it and using it for myself? Does it have a border and does it have a good dimension? I'm not shy from giving much lower marks simply because if I feel that GIF does not live up to its full potential, I will let you know about it.

Sarcasteak also loses one point for not knowing the source and another one for accusing me of using Gundam SEED, and ramune can keep all three points for a rainy day. If anyone was keeping track of this, I imagine that would be pretty good.

You mean the dotted lines? I just made a layer for each frame~ :o

Haha, I actually had trouble with ImageReady initially because stuffs I do AREN'T applied to every frame of the animation--if you adjust the opacity or position of one layer, the change will only be applied to the layer in whichever frame you selected and not every frame in the sequence. My way of getting around that is to create an empty layer directly below the modified frame and merge down; problem solved. ^_^
