Hello everyone! As you may or may not know, NewLife-Anime (NLA) previously released 3 episodes of this great TV series and then dropped. We at Triad have decided to pick it up and bring you the greatness of all 52 episodes. I can guarantee as of right now than more than 3 episodes will be out (because beyond episode 3 has been translated already, hehe). Anyway, the story is great, and just because it's old, doesn't mean it's bad. If you like adventure stories with magic and fun and comedy, you'll love this. Not many people really liked the OVA, but the TV has a completely different feel.
Trust me, even if you hated the OVA and thought it was terrible, give the TV series a shot, because it's great. There is no 12 swords or anything of the sort :P Just give it a shot and don't be biased right away.
If you've never heard of it, it's great.
In a world where a giant sword stands upon a land full of adventure and magic...
A world called Earth Tear.
This is the story of heroes who tirelessly journeyed across Earth Tear.
Welcome to the land of Adeu, Sarutobi, Izumi, Paffy, Katze and other great characters with great plot. Enter if you dare!
How does it compare to the original Magic Knight Rayearth?

This series isn't related to Magic Knight Rayearth at all ^^;;;
However, most people say it's one of the better older animes (it aired in 1994) along with Hunter x Hunter, One Piece, Magic Knight Rayearth, some of El Hazard, etc. :)
Great because i really like you guys at Triad. Question though; i love anime like record of lodoss war, bastard, slayers stuff like that you know with magic, knights, and dragons. Would this show be a good one to watch then?
:help: If it isn't any problem can you tell me what it is about?
Well I haven't seen the OVA so thats why I'm asking. :help:

It is a TV series, not OVA and if you want to know what it is about check out Torrents for Lord of Lords Ryu Knight TV (http://animesuki.sandwich.net/series.php/97.html). On that page (Under the heading of "More info:") there are several links listed that provide information about the show.
This trick will work for almost any show listed on AnimeSuki.

Thanks for telling me. And Dragosmore said something about there being a bad OVA.

I got a newbie question for you guys, what does OVA stand for anyways!? :_) And about this series, any award sexual tension? Hehe, I love animes with a little sexual tension, like Onegai Teacher/Twins and Da Capo :D

There isn't any 'sexual tension' in LoLRK, it's more along the lines of Slayers (see the above posts and read the synopses for details)
As for the meaning of OVA, have a look at the thread in this forum called How Many Episodes: Answered here! (http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=156). Have a look at the last post of the thread as it puts TV series, OVAs and Films in context with each other.
OVA (Original Video Animation)
An OVA release means that the series hasn't been shown on TV before but is released straight into the 'video marketplace'. That's where the name comes from, it's an original video release (and the term was used many years ago before these new fangled DVDs were popular).
The OVA release schedule can be several weeks or months between one episode and the next (and please note, it is common for just one 30 minute episode to be released on a DVD in Japan). Due to this, the animation for an OVA can be very high quality. OVAs are funded before the project is started so they can put time and money into the story and artwork.
The length of an OVA can vary a lot but 4 or 6 episodes is common (or used to be). I think the general consensus is that the OVA marketplace is declining and so not as many are being made now as 5-10 years ago.
A typical OVA episode lasts for 30 minutes (since they don't have to allow for any advert breaks).
Great because i really like you guys at Triad. Question though; i love anime like record of lodoss war, bastard, slayers stuff like that you know with magic, knights, and dragons. Would this show be a good one to watch then?
It's style is quite similar to record of lodoss war tv imho.
The sounds interesting. :D I'll give it a download. ^^
Hmmm... Other than the fantasy settings, Slayers and Lodess War are quite different in my opinion... I will download it and have a look too. :)
Thanks for the replies. i think i will get this one.
to Tboz: I know that slayers and lodoss war are quite different but the fantasy setting is what originally drew me to them. That is why i was asking if i liked those anime, would i like this anime. Both are different but are both ones i really like with the whole fantasy setting.

Yeah i hear ya it will be #24 for me......Woah holy shit!

What I meant was xris said it resembles Slayers while Sakaki said it resembles Lodoss War TV. While I have never watched Lodess War TV before, I feel it should be quite like the OVA, which is different in atmosphere with Slayers. Hence the question...
Sorry if I had offended... :upset:
Anyway, any anime subbed by Triad must be great cauz they sub it :D

I'm a bit slow (plus English is not my first languaje), so please enlighten me: is Triad going to release the episodes subbed by NewLife too?
I got a VHS fansub of this with the first OVA (Adeus Legend) several years ago and liked it quite a lot.
Many people I know disliked the goofy looking robots, and the animation is definitively early-90's, but the episodes I watched were entertaining and the characters are very likeable, no matter how cliched.
I don't remember it clearly, but I think the first OVA (Adeus Legend) is set before the TV series, when the main character was still a squire without Zephyr, his Ryu Knight. There's a second OVA, but only one episode has been subbed AFAIK.
Anyways, thanks to Triad for rescuing this series from undeserved oblivion :D
BTW, don't you think the robots look a lot like the ones in Gad Guard?

Triad just released episodes 1 and 2, with the following episodes on the way. NewLife did episodes 1-3. Basically, Triad is starting from the beginning of the series, not from where NewLife left off.
I don't remember it clearly, but I think the first OVA (Adeus Legend) is set before the TV series, when the main character was still a squire without Zephyr, his Ryu Knight.
The OVA isn't set before the TV series... They are completely independent, what is absolutely now a uncommon thing.
Ryu Knight was really popular around 1994/1995. I have some old Animage where Paffy (the main female character) was most popular female character of the year.

Its cool to see the show that spawn knight of ramunes :D
Not really. Knights of Ramune (VS Knight Lamune &40 Fresh) is an OVA series that was made after the TV series VS Knight Lamune &40 Fire that comes from other Lamune releases. The first Lamune anime product was NG Knight Lamune &40, a TV series shown from 1990-1991. Ryu Knight is a TV series from 1994-1995.
The first episode of NG Knight Lamune &40 was fansubbed by Anime Haven (http://www.theanimehaven.com/pro/index.asp). The first 5 were fansubbed on tape long ago by some group whose name I forgot.
All the 26 episodes of VS Knight Lamune &40 Fire (that features Parfait and Cacao, like Knights of Ramune) was fansubbed by a group called Hecto a long time ago. The fansubs were done on tape, but I think someone has digitized them.

Ah, thanks for the info. All I got was one tape with TV eps. 1-3 and Adeus Legend ep. 1 so I didn't have too much material to judge from. I also saw some trading lists with TV eps. 4-6 and Adeus Legend ep. 2 in one tape, and I wonder if Adeus Legend was made as an additional feature for the LD release of the TV series, much like the old Patlabor "P-Series". But there's a second Ryu Knight OVA, is it unrelated to the other series too?
I have a couple of Hecto's Lamune tapes. Damn catchy song stuck in my head for weeks :heh: Pity the quality is so bad (even when I got them directly off Hecto) my digitizing card refused to accept them, too noisy and jumpy.
Hey no offense taken TBoz i was just letting you know lol that i know the difference between the two shows. i must have missed one of the replies that were saying that the show is simmilar to both lodoss and slayers, so it's mostly my fault. Anyways it looks like i will be downloading this one to go with the grip of series i am already in the midst of downloading. Man good thing i just bought another 100 cdr
No problem... misunderstandings only... ;)
Sigh, I haven't start with the downloading as I am pretty occupied with some another series. But from the pics that kuru posted, it seems to be more of a fun series like Slayers. :D

Whoever came up with the idea to colour coordinate everyone's font with their respective armor and/or hair color is a genious. Give them a Nobel prize or something. :D

Hey..... :heh: I actually liked that anime :p
Well I watched the first two episodes, and I must say that I love it already. I love the fact on how Triad is matching the colors with the characters. Now I know who is who. But what I liked the most is how Adeu summoned his Ryu. I like this series, I think I will download more of it. Even if it is a really long series.

Yeah, makes for #20 for me only because I just closed out a bunch of older series. Otherwise it would be like #30 for me. ;)
But overall I like the series because:
1. It's got mechas in it. :D
2. It's got knights.
3. It's got magic.
4. It's funny.
5. It's a great adventure/action story.
6. Cute girls with pointy ears? :heh:
7. It's got a medieval feel to it.
I'm anxious for the next couple of episodes. :)
Yeah i liked this show so far. Definitely i am going to keep downloading this show. I really liked how they used the colored fonts as well. Sometimes it's hard to determine who is exactly talking but that wasn't the issue in this. Great job guys at Triad. Another great show from a great fansubbing group.

Episode 3 is out :) My comments in spoiler tags below ;p
Paffy is so funny with her fears, hehe... and...
FOUR RYUS NOW =OOOOOOO
aaaand...
Why did Sarutobi try throwing shurikens at a ROCK GOLEM. I'm sure it'll hurt it ;P
The series is closer to Slayers than it is to Lodoss War.
I've seen the entire TV series (I actually have the entire set on LD with the slick LD covers that very few people have seen). It was originally my intention to sub it ages ago (when we were known as Ignition-One and not Infinite-Zero as we're known now) but we never could get any help with it.
It's an excellent series through and through even if it does use the standard RPG/Anime conventions. The TV series is undoubtedly the better of the series when compared to the OVAs. It's a long ride but well worth it. Trust me.
As for Triad, I'll be keeping my eyes on you cause after AW's work on the OVAs (and a few other subbers that stopped on the series) I swear Ryu Knight is cursed with less than par subs. Not a knock on ya'll but something always happens to people that work on Ryu Knight. =P

I know there has to be some people who watch this series out there, right? :P There hasn't been much discussion of it recently, and I want to discuss @_@;; Start posting guys or something :PPP Anyway, episode 4 is out. Kind of slow in my opinion, but others seem to like it. Spoiler stuff below:
Vice has the tactics and the perfect business opinion, but fighting against Ryu's isn't smart ^^;;; He should've just had someone else get it for him so he didnt destroy his centipede solid-combine thing @_@;; Anyway, we can finally see that they won't go through each persons Ryu sequence every single episode. Only Adeu's. This series is getting fun though, can't want to see how it ends :)
I have been waiting for the continuation of this funny and light hearted series since NLA subbed the first 3 series! Thanks guys/girls for continuing this series! downloading ep 4 now (yay! Matlab is back!). Hope the entire series will be subbed without any problems! thanks again!

Well, I thought episode 4 was actually pretty good. At least, I thought it was better than episode 3 :)
I have a question just for Dragosmore though (nobody else look!):
Can you please unban me from #the-triad? I wasn't aware that having an away message was a bannable offense!
I'm really wondering how they've all ended up with Ryus though. I can understand Paffy and I...I...tsumi? Itsuki? I can't remember his name. However, I can understand why he and Paffy have their Ryus.
Furthermore, how did the ninja guy and Paffy/the priest guy meet up?
Sorry, I'm REALLY bad with names.
Dragosmore
2003-12-10, 00:29
Well first things first.
1) You're unbanned, you shouldn't have been in the first place
2) I know how Paffy and Izumi met up, but I won't spoil because it's sometime in the later 10s ( i havent t/led the ep with it, but i know how they meet ). If you really want to know, PM me on irc. And I assume Sarutobi is just another hired guard they got in their two travels together or whatnot.

It's that itme again. Ryu5 is out! It sort of is related to Ryu6, but you can easily watch Ryu5 without seeing 6 right away, hehe. It's actually a really good ep imho :P
Gratches is so badass.
I hope you enjoy it :P
ha ha ha Adeu got his ass kicked, maybe he'll stop being a conceited loud mouth all the time. Anyways good episode the new Ryu user guy was cool.

unlike most people here I perfer the OAV to the tv. The oav was both action pack and the storyline tight with very little fillers. The villians were both funny without being buffons and were shown quite deadly and capable. A good match against the heros. And Adieu was definetly less annoying in the OAV then the TV. overall the all the main characters were develope a lot better in the OAV then the TV.

With only five episodes subbed out, I find that really hard to say. Also, I don't necessarily think Adeu is annoying, but rather amusing with his lessons of Chivalry that he babbles on about. Not to mention, the OAV's, if they were to take place in the same world as the TV, it would be much after the end, since of what Adeu has/how he looks in the OVA.

Hi. I'm a pretty good Ryu Knight fan, so I'll explain a little.
The TV is a 1994 Sunrise show that was pretty popular for a mecha. Runs for 52 episodes. It's a light fantasy/comedy/mecha show that features super deformed Knight mechas. As someone mentioned earlier, Paffy was girl of the year in Armitage.
When the LDs for the TV series came out, Bandai did something not often done. Taking a page from the Patlabor Perfect release, each LD of Ryu Knight contained 1 NEW OVA episode (Adeu's Legend) in addition to 3 episodes of the TV series. Shouta can explain the breakdown towards the end better than I can. (17 Vols x 3 = 51 TV episodes, need one more). The first OVA series had 13 episodes, a parody episode, and then Adeu's Legend II. There was also a 'movie' version, squashing the 13 episodes into a two-hour movie, and a 8-inch LD of extras. I've seen both all of TV and OVA last summer. While not the most serious of shows, The OVAs are substiantially darker than the TV series. I'm sure you've noticed that Adeu is pretty naive about this whole Knight business. Well, in the OVA series he REALLY learns the hard way. I haven't watched OVA II: 1-4, partly because AnimeWorld disappeared after finishing episode two. Did I mention I like Ryu Knight a lot? I liked it enough to buy the R2 OVA DVD-BOX which was around $250, and I was buying it really JUST for those last two episodes. :P Anyway, if people hate the OVA series, that's too bad, but really they should watch the TV series before the OVAs. The OVAs cannot even be called a remake of the TV series. It's the same basic heroes: Adeu, Paffy, Izumi, and Sarutobi but in an entirely different universe and storyline. It's nothing at all like the TV series, and I hear OVA series II is even darker than 1!
Anyway, I really like both the TV series and the OVA. Good music, although I really love Good-bye Tears and Point 1. I don't care much for TV Op 2, or the ENDs, or the OP of the OVA. Since I myself am working on subbing the R2 OVA DVDs, where is you guys, Triad, getting your romanizations? Merchandise? Japanese websites? One thing I noticed in your subs that looked kinda strange was "Earth Tear". In Japanese it would be AASUTIA. (Dunno if this board supports kana) While that is how "Earth Tear" would be said, I think the name of the world is supposed to be "Earthtia", which would sound exactly the same in Japanese. I think "Earthtia" is the name they are going for.
Also, and you can take this or leave this. I'm pretty obsesssed about song translations, and while Good-bye Tears TV edit is a nightmare, I did notice some errors in English translation, probably because the particles and phrase structure were misunderstood. I translated the song a different way and had it confirmed by a native bilingual Japanese and English speaker who works as a translator for the commerical companies. If you would like to entertain me, I can send or post the romaji and the English subtitles and explain the grammar.
Yeah... I'm a psycho. :P
Lastly, about NG/VS Lamune. Yeah, only 1-5 of NG TV was subtitled. Pity. That was the series that really put Satoru on the map. Hecto subbed VS Lamune off TV without digital correction in the VHS days. The tapes aren't too bad if you have 1st gen subbed. Unfortunately, NG Knight Lamune TV on a ridiciously overpriced DVD Boxset where VS is still LD only. The LDs are hard to find, yet are cheap. (jungle just had a set of all 7 for 7,000 total)
P.S. Shouta, if you're the same Shouta from fansubs.net, you really should have asked me for help. :) SUB SHURATO!!! Anyway, Ryu Knight, while being the nail in the coffin from Ground Zero and AW, is not cursed. Android Announcer Maico, THAT show is cursed. 4 fansubbers claim that one as their grave. Oh well, thanks for the Ippo, Infusion. :P

I'll cover this piece by piece so bear with me :P
1) Romanizations? For the Ryu names, there names are written on the Mist cards they use to summon them. (Though, I took liberty with Bakuretsumaru, since I really don't think Bakuretsumal looks good, so I just went with basic romanization and no engrish-ification.) Now for the second one. 'Aasu Tia'. When they have that 3 line opening in the beginning, there's an obvious break between the Aasu and Tia which led to Earth Tear. I didn't think of Earthtia, but it's just a matter of who romanizes what. There is no official name anywhere for it. Either is possible, it's the same thing with anything. This also goes with character names (but the character names I got were official from the company who produced Ryu Knight :P)
2) There was a small translation error in the middle of the OP for the first three episodes which we fixed in four and five. I've had my song checked by a native japanese speaker who's currently a graduate student in America who's now also damn near fluent in English. If you're just commenting on episode 1's version of the opening, please watch episode 4. If you still have complaints, send me an e-mail or talk to me on irc (irc.mircx.com mainly) with this nick (Dragosmore). E-mail would be alg0511@rit.edu .

1. Sorry. I didn't mean to imply your romanizations were bad. I was genuinely interested because there have ben variation of them used over the years. Where is the 'official' list spelling out all the character names in English?
I checked Ryu Knight TV Episode 40 Title. It's not アース・ティア, it's "アースティア". (Japanese text might not work here). Basically, in printed Japanese there is no dot suggesting AASU and TIA are two seperate words. When I listen to it it's said as one word. Now, sometimes even that does mean jack in Japanese. For example, Ryuunaito is one word but it is two in English. However, I have a Japanese PC game entitled EARTHTIA SAGA LARTHUR'S LEGEND / ラーサー・レジェンド which is about the Ryu Knight series. I did not find anything on the net corresponding to Earth Tear, Earthtear, or Earth's Tear.
Here, http://www.geocities.co.jp/Playtown/3064/Htrk.htm . You can check your video of Ep 40. There will not be a dot between Su and Ti.
This may be more settled by the OVA memorial book. Over my break I'll look to see if it spells it in English and how.
On the other hand, we both know the Japanese suck at spelling in English and even official merchandise can be wrong. However, having Earthtia being part of an official game is good evidence.
The problem I saw was in ep 5. I'll recheck it. It may be just an issue of Tv cut being too ambigious, when I get the full cd with printed lyrics for both verses, it may help explain, then again, maybe not. I have finals on Monday, so I'll be busy this weekend, but I will try to have another native bilingual speaker check it.

Well, I'm not going to fight about the Earth Tear/Earthtia thing. It's a matter of a personals choice of name-subbing. Countless name switches have happened in countless animes with different fansub groups. I don't think there is any general English translation for names that are in katakana or something of the sort. (i.e: if you do a search on the web for paffy's eng(l/r)ish last name, there's like 10 different versions :p)
Second thing, I've been looking for the full version of Good-bye Tears. If you can get it, I'd love a copy if you wouldn't mind making one @_@! Or at least tell me where to get it, I couldn't find it wherever I searched. As for lyrics, there shouldn't be any problem with romanization. The kanji is printed in the opening itself and I went with that. As for translation, again, I and my native speaker friend saw no mistake. Good luck with finals.
As a final note, Triad will not be changing it from Earth Tear to Earthtia as what I said in the first paragraph. Even if you somehow find an official spelling of it, if even one exists, it still won't change for consistency. Sorry if you feel that it's wrong in anyway. :-)

So~ Ryu6 is out. Solved most issues. ON WITH THE NEXT NEW/MAJOR CHARACTER! (Next episode >_>)
I'm really surprised that Gratches lost so easily to Adeu. He only
hit him from behind and Gratches is supposed to be super strong.
Ohwell :P
Episode's 5 and 6 were pretty well action packed ^^; I enjoyed them, and it also showed some good character developement between Sarutobi and Adeu. I guess that they will be the best of friends out of the whole group.
I too found it odd how fast Gratches one. But if you think about it, if you use the same attacks over and over; someone is bound to figure them out. Adeu for once uses that ol' noggin of his.

I wondered what this whole Earthtia / Earth Tear discussion was about as both are equally possible spellings of the same phonetic sounds. I realized though that you may have been reading "Tear" as the verb "to tear" rather than the adjective "tear" (which might trickle from your eye if you were upset at the use of that romanisation :p).
All I have to say is that its great that the series is being translated and romanisation can be extremely difficult without any kind of official clue as to what the creators intended the word to be spelt like in English. I have often seen "official" English spellings that don't mirror the obvious English spelling of names......
*If anyone has a problem with the picture, let me know and I'll edit it out and put the link instead*
The last disc has 5 episodes. The Parody OVA (which has jokes from both the TV series and OVAs. Most will go past people unless they've seen the TV and OVAs in its entirety) is on this disc as well as the last 4 episodes of the TV series.
As Saymark mentioned, the OVAs are wholly different from the TV series. The tone is a bit more gruff (I wouldn't say dark) and the action is more or less the priority. The TV reverses it. Action is there (more towards the end of the series) but the main focus is a light-hearted adventure for most of it. It's more or less the classic tale of a person growing into a hero and what it takes to become that hero. Villains for the TV series are a bit stronger but don't have the the presence of the villains of the OVA series since they don't repeatedly appear.
As for the romanization, I believe it to be Earthtia. However, the question is still an interesting one as the official romanization as I've seen it is "Earth tia". The English implored by Takehiko Ito is a cut above most English used in the service of anime series but it's still rather fishy. It's separate but he doesn't use "Tear". I'd be more inclined to say that it's Earthtia since Ito romanized the character names so very eloquently.
I'll provide a scan for you here. I'll also check the inserts for the LDs I do have a little bit later (Missing like 4 LDs :(). This is a quick scan and I can do a much closer one later if anyone wants.

Also, Say is right on the episode title as it there's no dot in the kana version and that usually signifies a world break. Still an interesting set of circumstances.
Saymark: Yeah, same person. I don't get any help no matter how much I ask whether it be on good old fansub communities or the digisub scene. Totally bothers me that no one is willing to lend a hand most of the time. If I had known, I would've come and ask earlier. And ouch on the Memorial box. I picked up the LDs for the series for 5 dollars a piece myself.

So the spelling is "Earth tia" huh? Interesting...
Anyway, I liked episode 6 quite a bit. I also found that Gratches lost way too easily. I think that the fight should have taken place on a cloudy day, though. That would have made things a bit more interesting.
i'm actually quite surprised about how much i like this show. I didn't give it much a of a chance and must say i am pleasantly surprised. I would have liked to see Gratches and Adeu's fight last longer. The show is funny and heartfelt at the same time. 3 cheers to The Triad for subbing this GEM of a old lost show. I will have to check out the OVA's sometime.

Whelp, Ryu7 is out but I dont have much to say since Im back home. I watched it as the raw and translated it and one of the quality checks when I was still at college, so here goes memory!
KATZE! She has arrived, ohmygod I love Katze ;_; She's so incredibly funny. And it's so great. She speaks such a thick Kansaiben [think Osaka from Azu or Afura from El Hazard or something, just much more thick hehe]. She's such a fun char and should stick around for awhile. Can't get enough Katze. /me gives everyone reading this a fee for having read it!
animesuki hasnt put up the link up yet :(

Dragosmore, why must you torment us like this? Haven't you had enough fun at our expense by waiting a week to release the episode even though it was practically finished last week? :P

Just some notes for all of you few who leech this series (I still am shocked at so few, I think it's a really good series and I've met other diehard fans for it too, ohwell :( )
1. =O? No comments about ep7 and Katze? Thought you guys would get a laugh out of her. Hehehe
2. Don't expect Ryu Knight 8+ for about 2 weeks or so. I'm home right now on a computer that can't watch anime, so because of that, QCing and stuff gets delayed and all and yeah =P

Ryu 8 is out. Sorry you had to wait awhile, but now since im back at school, QCing can ensue. This ep is kind of funny and leads into a 2-3 episode story arc that all starts from this one. Buckle your seatbelts ^^

I'm starting to warm to the characters in this series now so I'd thought I'd post here. I like the Evil "Cutie" Sailor moon types, at last there seems to be a real enemy who appears to be neither stupid or fairly weak. (I'm not counting Gratches as never for a minute considered him as an "enemy" too much of a good guy, even if extremely Bishie!)
Just a quick question though why were Adeu and Sarotobi "Likely to drown underwater"?.....they seemed.....fine...
Perhaps its just a plot contrivance....
Also I wonder if Katze is keeping a secret.... ;)
Honmani sou yo ne! :)

They were likely to drown because their Ryu's weighed them down. I guess maybe they had a limit to breathe underwater.

Hello! I love Ryu Knight and have all the episodes in Japanese. Each video contains 3 tv and 1 ova episode, very nice! I just wish they would translate the game. Long live Sarutobi!

From what I've played of the Japanese game, it's basically same thing as the TV series, I only got to where the frog-like creatures were outside the Gigamazon but up until that point, it was all the same. Except for at the beginning...
Adeu met with Nuzzi and it explained how he got Zephyr and why he chose his path blahblah :P

Ryu11 out for all you fans out there. If you haven't started watching this series, now's probably a good time to start. Things starting to roll the big wheels of the series, and its old school and good. :PPP
Enter Galden and his Dark Ryu Knight, Steru!
I'm looking for similar anime-series but a tad more serious ones, any advice?
Like Record of Lodoss War and Scrapped Princess for example, thanks in advance.

Well, I think that a too serious one is too much to ask for. But a tad more quality than slayers and no knight robots please. :hmm: An Ova would be nice. Serious anime is hard to get your hand on, since most is directed at kids I guess, but still.

I remember seeing an issue of the manga on an Italy vacation some time ago (dunno... around '99/2000, I think) and still remember that I found it quite funny 'n' stuff :D
So I'll give it a shot - BTing the first episode right now :) (takes its time... I only have dual Isdn  Ordered Dsl some time ago already, but with me living in a somewhat rural suburb of a bigger town, it's not very likely I'll get it anytime soon :( )
Good to hear that the series will be continued, hanging in mid-air with a half-finished series is not so nice :(

Um, you need to watch more anime if you think it's all aimed at kids! Yes, there is alot of kids anime, but there is quite a bit of more mature aimed anime. Last Exile, Gunslinger Girl, Noir, Witch Hunter Robin, Gundam Seed, and Ebichu come to mind. There's more than just hentai for adults (though Ebichu isn't far from hentai, the others are).
And many children aimed anime has deeper meaning if you are an adult and can understand certain things. Jungle wa Itsumo Hale nochi Guu is a very good example of that in my opinion...
Sorry about goign off topic.

Yeah, sorry for the off topic. I think the serie is a tad too unserious for me. It doesn't have to be serious, but  no robots in medival times ffs. It just ruins it for me. I know there are more serious ones too, just not as many as I hoped. I'm quite newbish still compared to most ppl here.

I've watched the first episode now and really liked it a lot - just my cup cup of tea! :D
Also, the fansubbing is very well done! I didn't notice any spelling mistakes or other inconsistencies, and the idea to use different colors to indicate who speaks is great!
Keep up the good work! :D

Regarding the "Earth Tear" issue: how it is written in Japanese is absolutely irrelevant. Foreign words that together comprise a proper noun are usually just stuck together in one block. Furthermore, spaces technically don't even exist in Japanese. They are used to make reading easier, but they're not a part of the language syntax like it is in English.
Examples:
"Little Tokyo" -> 「リトルトーキョー」
"Super Mario Brothers" -> 「スーパーマリオブラザーズ」
Also, if might be worth it to note that it is indeed written "Earth Tear" (in English) in the original comic by Takehiko Ito.
So give ol' Dragosmore a break :)
Just my two cents.

I'm just wondering if anyone is still keeping up with this series~ It's really good, but like no one talks about it for even any discussion about episodes whatsoever. Most recently have ben filled with plot, and even a new awesome character recently, sooo~ anyone out there? @_@ :uhoh:

Hi, i just registered to show you support for subbing this show. :)
Sadly i don't have the bandwith to spare (i have download limits here +_+) to get the 15 episodes you already fansubbed.
But since i love things like Magic Knight Rayearth, Lodoss and the like, at least i can show you support to continue on do it ^^. Maybe i manage to do a trade sometime to get the episodes already out to talk a little about the series, but until then... i can only say continue and good luck :)
