Anyone watching this series? I like it. :) It's funny and weird, but I like it. My only gripe is that Megu is a guy that got turned into a girl. You look at her and go "wow, she's cute!" then the other half of your brain goes "Like WTF dude?? She's a guy!!" hehe. It's weird having your brain wanting to go two different directions. But either way, I think the show is very funny and very enjoyable even if others don't. :)
What do you guys think of it?
There's not enough TenKona love around :(
I've been watching the show for months, and I totally love it. The characters, animation, story...all great. I get kind of annoyed at how many eps revolve around perverts trying to molest characters, though.
Eagerly awaiting the last 20 eps :D
And I don't care if Megumi WAS a guy. Total Megu-luv

Man, this series is definately a tenchi series. Light sexual humor and lots of laughs and plenty of weird people. :D
Only real difference is this is a bunch of guys ganging up on a single girl (rather than the other way around) and trying to get a date with her. :) But man, that one guy. You gotta give him points for persistence. Heck, a couple of times I thought she'd (he'd?) crack. Very cool anime. I'm definately phyqued for the last 20 episodes too. :D
I like this series. I hope they finish fansubbing it... 22 eps to go...

Definately. The OP and ED are kick@$$ and I love to watch them every episode. :)
love the series its funny as hell, patiently awaiting the next release.
Wohoo TnK fans!
Would you guys agree that TnK is one of the most over looked and under-appreciated series? A lot of people don't give it a chance because of it's animation style.

Yeah, I think it is a bit overlooked, but it usually has quite a few downloads, so it may be oft watched and little spoken of. Few series have made me laugh as much as this one, it's a great show.
I'm a big TnK fan~ ^-^ I love this series.
The original intro song "Grand Blue" was the most kickin' intro song EVER.
I don't know why they had to change it for episode 27 on...

I think thats going to be the sleeper surprise of the series as well -- that Megu was always a girl and the magic was just making Megu and Miki THINK she used to be a guy. Bc one of the recent episodes mentions how he doesn't have powers strong enough to "make him a girl forever" or whatever and that basically everything he's done so far has been illusionary in nature. So one could believe that everything was just a mind-trick on the two of them which would take alot less "magic power" than the other way.

Quite possible...I never thought of that. Actually I hope not, I really want to see Megu as a guy, it'll be interesting to see how everyone reacts around Megu. I wonder if those guys who always hang around her would still love Megu even though Megu has turned back into a guy.

It's interesting that the translation for Tenshi Na Konamaiki is "Cheeky Angel". Which means Tenshi Muyo would translate to "Forget about Angel". Uh, hmm. Why does the name sound so cool in Japanese but so dumb in english?

Tenshi Muyo? Don't you mean Tenchi Muyo?
Hmm...that reminds me....I better go finish off a few more TnK scripts before I forget about them >_>

I competely agree on both counts, the bit torrent links are swarmed by a good number of people upon release. I still think it would be wildly popular if TnK went with a more popular (or more common) style of character design, but then it wouldnt be true to the manga. Regardless, it's without a doubt currently one the more genuinely funny and well written series out there.

"Muyo" translate into "useless" doesn't it?
So shouldn't it be "Useless Tenchi"?
Lord Raiden

I was to understand that Muyo meant "Forget". Hence the translation I heard of "Forget about Tenchi".
Oh and anytime Maiki starts "talking tough" she totally sounds like a tita it's really hilarious
:D
Why are the latter episodes of the fansubs from DVD but not the earlier ones too?
The first 26 or so eps of TnK were subbed using TV rips or raws...because of the time it took to release tnk...the DVDs (the R2 ones) were released in Japan...so AE has decided to use DVD rips instead as their source.

So then what episode is TnK up to now? If the DVD's are out already, I would have to guess that it's perty much well past EP 30. I hope it is and AE does a batch release of 30-?? soon. :) I think actually the series is up to EP40 of 50 right now cause I saw something listing the current ending song going until episode 39 with question marks behind it which would lead me to believe that they're up to EP39 already or even as high as 42. Either way, if there's more episodes out currently than are available on BT, please, someone please catch up! I'm going into TnK withdrawls waiting to see more. Especially of Miki and Megumi. :D

AE has only done up to 30 (which was just release a couple of weeks ago) thus far and they are releasing each episode at a excruciating slow pace - like 1 ep every month. But it seems they are improving, I think they are picking up their pace again... I hope.
At any rate I appreciate AE's hard work! I really do! :) gambatte!

The final episode has already aired in Japan, so we're just catching up. As for AE's releases, they've always been a bit slow, but promise that they are going to be faster now. They've kept that promise for the last few episodes so I hope they aren't going to slack off now. Incidently, I have heard from someone involved with the group that episodes 31-40 are already translated, so we're just waiting on the rest of the process!
The DVD containing eps 47-50 was released 8/21/2003. These are R2 DVDs (meaning Eastern Asia only) and carry no subtitles and only Jpn soundtrack. So you just have to wait till they're translated, timed, edited, typesetted and encoded. Speaking of translated....

Oh, and if you want to send a spoiler out, please do. I don't mind spoilers and it makes it even more fun waiting for the rest of the episodes if I have a few. I just want to know what happens to Megumi and Genzo. Does she become a He again, or remain a she? If the latter, does she hook up with Genzo? Spoil me via PM, please?? :)

Yup. That means we're over half way through this already. I'm definately eger to see the rest of this show. Initially I wasn't sure what to think of it, and the first time I watched it, I actually deleted it. Believe it or not, I did. But after deciding to give it a second chance per the recommendation of several members, I went back and decided to watch more than what I had seen before. After that I was hooked. Especially on Megumi and Miki. (hehe. Kinda seeing a pattern here? ;))

From what I heard, Megumi is, yes, a girl all the time, and the spell was broken by Genzo’s kiss. Kobayashi, the Ninja guy, falls in love with Miki but Miki doesn’t seem to return (or realize?) his affection because she is still pretty much… “focus” on Megumi, as usual. Pardon my choice of words; I don’t know if I have expressed it accurately. But everyone here can clearly see that there is something going on between Miki and Megumi, especially from Miki’s side. But actually, there is no actual pairing, neither Megumi and Genzo nor Miki and Kobayashi; all these seem to go on without saying… much. I think this all happens in the very last few ep. That’s what I have heard so far. Hope this is helpful.

I've been watching this post for awhile, but it looks like it's finally time for me to give in and tell you what happens >.>;;; Guest had the general gist of it but this is how it goes (in manga):
First of all, the anime ends before the manga ends. I haven't seen up to 50 raw, but this is what I've been told. They might make the final ep sort of as a concluding though for the anime so it's not left so open.
Manga Ending:
Pierrot comes out again and all, and explains a lot :P His magic wasn't strong enough to change Megumi from a boy to a girl, so he changed her "soul". She's always been a girl, since she was born. HOWEVER, on that fateful day, he changed Miki's and Megu's "soul" (memories) to think that Megu was originally a guy. That's basically it :)

I think anime sort of explain that part....later on, and yeah, there is still a lot going on between now and the ending, so this is just the general idea.
Whatever I heard is from anime only because I did not even know that manga exist!
Megumi is a girl ALL THE TIME. She was never a boy. It is just a mind trick by the Pierrot, which only affects Miki and Megumi. So for the folks who had hoped for Megumi, a guy, and Miki, sorry. Anyway, when Megumi is in danger, Miki finally remembers that Megumi is originally a girl and was never a boy.
For whoever read the spoiler, this has puzzled me a while. Don't you think that Miki would rather be with Megumi, as a girl, than Megumi, as a guy? I think it is clearly stated in the anime. Miki once said something like, among all the humans on the surface of the Earth, she likes Megumi the most. She cannot explain why but she does NOT want Megumi turn back to a guy. She even goes that far and asks Megumi, "does that mean you fall for women?" For the people who are all for Megumi (a guy) and Miki, I am not here to pick a fight with anyone, just sharing some thoughts.

so that's how it went err really disappointing but yea like someone said it was kinda obvious. man i was hoping for miki and megumi together don't really care if she was a guy or girl. so what happen to miki? err somehow miki kinda resemble tomoyo from ccs, end up with no one and the one you like is with someone else. ahh this is sad. *turn into an anime character and run over to miki to give her a hug* dun worrie if she doesn't want you i'll take care of you.

It was repetitious because the story went almost no where and it was just two guys going after one girl and the girl looking for a way to change back into a guy
It got also repetitious because some of the jokes were kinda the same jokes as before
Also it was just REALLY SLOW in story development

I'm a little confused after watching episode 33 where Yasuda tries to investigate the devil's powers and how it works. It seems like the devil cannot grant materialistic wishes and if that is true then how did he turn Megumi from a boy to a girl. The devil only tricks people into think he granted their wishes using hallucinations. However, wouldn’t this mean that Megumi is actually still a guy but everyone is hallucinating that he is a girl? Am I missing something here?

In case it wasn't told yet, "muyo" means useless; futility; needlessness; unnecessariness.
And that's that. ^^
Actually, this term has caused several fluent/bilingual people to go into shocked denial because they thought they knew what the term meant and didn't even think they'd need to look it up on a J-E dictionary. The meaning of this term in "daily" use is "Do not turn over" or "This side up" (reference (http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/cgi-bin/cgiwrap/jwb/j-e/sjis/tty/nocolor/dosearch?sDict=on&H=PS&L=J&T=tenchimuyou&WC=none)). It's a label that gets tacked onto parcels. However, most of us are used to seeing arrows now, so the term is something of an anachronism. At least, that's what we told ourselves ^^;.
If you're interested in reading more about the etymology/meaning of this term and other obscure-yet-still-in-use terms, this (http://www.yomiuri.co.jp/himekuri/020613.htm) is a pretty nice site for the linguaphile. Sorry, the site's only available in Japanese. I can translate the mini-article for "tenchi muyou" if people want me to, but I don't think I can translate all of the articles ^^;.

Spoilers for Episode 33. Don't read any more unless you've viewed that episode.
However, wouldn?t this mean that Megumi is actually still a guy but everyone is hallucinating that he is a girl? Am I missing something here?
Here is my guess as to an answer to that question.
Perhaps it only tricked Megumi and Miki into believing that Megu used to be a boy. Maybe Megumi's parents and everyone else are right and Megumi was a girl from the beginning. Which is more likely, that the little devil tricked 2 people or that he transformed him into a girl and then tricked everyone who ever knew Megumi into believing that she was one from the beginning. This episode proves just how limited the pierrot's powers are, so I have to choose the former.
Lord Raiden
2004-01-05, 10:56
Being how truely limited to illutions and "soft powers" that the demon is, I'm voting that his power is limited to mind tricks rather than true magic, cause that's all we've seen him do so far for the most part.

In anser to this thread's end I'd say his power are mabe real but that the guy isnt truly evil..no what I mean he'll probably become a frend at the end or something ike that ^____^
As for the translation of Tenchi Muyo, I thought it has already been translated? We have seen it often...... Muyo does mean useless and stuff but it's not an exact translation in context with Tenchi. So Tenchi Muyo isn't "Useless Tenchi".........Tenchi Muyo is "No Need for Tenchi". No Need = Useless. Come on guys, you seen this often.
Lord Raiden
2004-01-27, 01:28
I've seen it translated both ways, so I wasn't sure which was right. But it would be more logical if it was "No need for Tenshi". Considering the show itself, that would fit right in. :)
I have a question about episode 25...so I'm gonna put it in spoiler tags just in case people haven't seen it.
I just wanted to know...I just saw episode 25 where Genzo says he fought Megumi before and 'saved her from the glass'...and I remember in some other episode (does anyone rememebr which?) Megumi says she fought Genzo before. But, Megumi says that she isn't the one he fought and saved.
I was wondering if this was ever resolved - the glass thing in particular, but when exactly did she meet and fight Genzo? I re-watched the first episode and none of those boys looked remotely like Genzo...so if anyone could help me out, maybe tell me what happened in the manga, that'd be great.

Just started watching this ..... seriously funny! But now I'm getting sad because I've nearly seen all the ones that have been released ...
Lord Raiden

Calophi, it was later proven that megu didn't fight genzo. They were two different fights. He remembered fighting a girl similar to megu, and megu had fought some boys and she thought she remembered one of them was similar to genzo, but it's impossible as his sister pointed out, the girl he fought was actually a long standing enemy of hers.
Acewacey, what's happening with the releases is the group who is doing it realized they got far enough behind the actual release run that they switched to doing dvd releases to make up for it. So we're having to wait patiently for dvd encodes to come out monthly as the dvd's arrive once every 3 months with 4 episodes on them. So since we have 37 episodes out so far at 1 per month aproximately and the next dvd due in june, it will be the end of the year before the last episode is released. That is, unless the group releasing this knows something I don't about the actual dvd release schedule.
Personally I'd love to see all 50 episodes available now, but it's obviously not going to happen if my understanding of how this is working is correct.

Yeah, I wanna see the end of this anime now too!! I especially wanna see Megu and Genzo hook up. But who should hook up with Megu's friend? Gah, I suck at names. She's the girl that always hangs out with Megu. One reason I wanna see Megu and Genzo hook up is because of what she did to Genzo. Any girl that can turn a demon monster into a blubbering love struck idiot has my respect. :)

just a quick question,
Are they still subbing tenshi no konamaiki?
Lord Raiden
2004-05-21, 15:59
It's spelled "Tenshi Na Konamaiki" and yes, but it's a stalled project. Don't know what the reason was why it stalled (probubly lost their translator for it) but it's still listed as active, so I would guess that they should start up again soon.
if you go to Anime-Empire website, you'll see that they are looking for a translator to finish subbing TnK
this anime is soooooo great, I really hope they will find someone soon...

Yes, shes supposed to be very pretty. Unfortunately I agree that the character drawing style kinda evokes the opposite effect lol. But that is the way that the manga-ka draws them for the manga as well so.... And its like his 4th manga too, so I don't know why he draws that way .... reminds me of how ugly Initial D designs are...
Can I find TnK on DVD? I would really like to see the episode 38+ (A-E fansubbed it so far, but quitted?)
If anyone got a link to where I could buy the DVD (38+) please past it here.

I just finished watching 1-38 of A-E's fansubs and now I have the same problem. :( Why did A-E stop subbing this? It isn't even licensed.
http://www.anime-empire.net/forum/showthread.php?threadid=1813
They lack translators (for TnK specifically I presume as other shows still get subbed).
And you can't blame them entirely for releasing other shows in the meanwhile:
the translator needs to like the show if he wants to work on it.
Lord Raiden
2004-07-18, 11:56
Yeah, that is kind of a problem. I really wish they could find a translator for this who would be willing to help them complete the series. I want to see the rest of the series up to the end. :( But I can also understand where GHDpro is coming from. If the translator doesn't like the series, it's kinda hard to make them sit through all those episodes and translate them. Heck, if I knew my Japanese better, I'd actually work on translating it for them!!
PS: What's this doing in the dvd and licenced forum? TnK isn't licenced yet! :(
This should actually be merged into the TnK thread in the Fansubs forum.

We did NOT stop subbing TnK. We just don't have translators for it at the moment.
As I stated in the A-E forums, we have had people try out as TnK translators but they either failed it or did a poor job at it.
I would like to see this series finish as everyone else does because it's one of my favourite series of all time.

Hey, Asura, we're all behind you man. 98% of us love your work and are patiently waiting for it to be finished. :) Hey, would it be a possibility to bug Anbu, Akeep, or one of the other groups and borrow a translator from them? Or maybe swap favors? IE you do something for them in trade for use of one of their translators? I know you guys need one, but this far in the game it may be a good idea to bug one of the other groups for a tad bit of help finishing up via a loan of a translator. I'm sure they would be willing to help. :D
Hey, it's at least an idea to get this closer to being completed. hehe. Just have them do all the scripts for 39-50 (that's only 12 scripts) then you guys should be set to be able to finish the series from there. It's not much out of their resources and it helps you guys a lot. :)

We have asked for help from members of other groups, but they're too busy with their groups work, which is understandable.

It's amazing how this show is easily surpassing all the other shows done by A-E in terms of popularity, even such shows as tsukihime and bakuten. It still has by far the worst art design of any anime I've ever seen.

Did anyone catch the animation blooper in episode 39? I haven't seen the whole episode yet (I wanted to post about this first), but it looks like they were getting a bit sloppy! It's in the scene where Miki's playing with the fireworks they won. You'll notice that they didn't line up the foreground (Miki) with the background properly. :hmm:

According to Virtual Dub, it took place from frame 5090 (3:32.296) to 5133 (3:34.089). Kobayashi just said "beautiful", Miki looked surprised, then turned her head and replied, "which?" I know that it wasn't long, but since we've been waiting close to four months for this episode, it surprised me.

It's an awsome anime.
You can't help but to fall in love with Megu after a while, and as a poster mentioned I totally agree that
Megu has always been a girl, it's just that she wanted to be a guy, and when she wished for it, that evil magic dude cast an illusion spell on them that convinced them that she has been a boy but turned a girl.
The guy with glasses (hentai guy) also came to this conclusion, but had a spell cast on him so he forgot all about it.
The only thing that makes me sad is that there's only about 50 parts, and I can't get enough of it. The day the series ends I'll be a very sad man. Just about as sad as I were when Get Backers ended.

Just 10 more episodes to go and the series is complete!! YAY!!
Thanks A-E!
I loved the episode!
The next episode is going to be interesting, from the looks of it Megu handles most of it herself.
I'd like to see Genzo kick som ass too in the next one.
It's wierd that it's so easy to accept guys fighting over a chick(?) in this series. And you root for them too... even though she's like a transsexual but not....
Well, I guess I shouldn't think about it unless I wanna become insane... I'll just watch, enjoy and hope that my intuitions about this anime is right and that Megumi surely is a girl from the beginning to the end...

Sephon...Megu IS a girl. Has been, always will be. It's been determined that the little mini magic guy put a spell on her and Miki that tricks both into believing that Megu was once a boy. The little guy's powers consist of mentally manipulating others. Nothing more. So she's been a girl but got all weirded out by the mini-magic guy. So it's nothing to freak out over. I did initally, but when I found out about the spell it made me feel better. :D

It just me or has the animation degraded greatly now?Better than going 100+ episodes to get an answer you already know, like in some other series. I thought the way everything came out was pretty well done, and there's still a fair amount of wrapping up to do.
I think it's just you; the show never went in for much visually. Most of the action scenes throughout the series have been short, but in the last couple of episodes they needed to stretch out some of the looping because of the long running sequences.
The last couple of episodes really redeemed the whole Nadeshiko contest or whatever; it was getting on my nerves. The series has needed more Miki lately...

Yeah I think the animation is not as good as it used to be but the best drawing studio (maybe the only original one that remains) is still as good. Actualy I noticed Megumi was not always well drawn. thats why.
The story is getting.. Narutofied :p well it ain't what it used to be but I still like it enough too talk about it. The contest is quite an easy pattern used in lots of anime. Actualy it kinda reminds me tournaments in almost every Shonen.
Easy entertainment. But Megumi is always worth it anyway.

You know, this has been one of those surprise series. I was only mildly curious about it when I first heard of it. I then started d/l and finally finished catching up to today. The art is average at best, there were some scenes where the drawing was just really weird, the story is not anything deep or incredibly original, and yet I find myself enjoying it. It's entertaining, and i guess I'm a sucker for heroic characters. And I guess it helps to have Megumi Hayashibara voicing the main character.
nice catch on the technical blooper, it passed right by me too. I thought maybe it was off the screen in the TV safety area, but watching it on my tv the top & bottom are fully in the frame.
Hi everyone! This is my 1st post here on this board
I'd just like to say that I really enjoyed TnK. The character design took a while getting used to, but what really attracted me to this show was the chemistry of the cast. IMHO, this is one show that really lives and dies by the performance of the seiyuu, and Hayashibara Megumi and co. really delivers
I thot the ending was a little rushed and too convenient (and left me begging for more), but overall, I really enjoyed the ride while it lasted...

Other then real life, the main problem really comes down to translators. We have not been able to find people that can consistently do translations on a regular basis. If you take a look at the past translators, they have all basically been volunteers.
JediNight
2004-10-26, 21:45
What Asura said -- most of the delays stem from like 6month gaps between having translators who want to do TnK. The dialogue in TnK is very involved -- they talk really fast and overall theres like 2x as much dialogue in TnK as the average anime. A large toll on translators, and we don't force our translators to work on projects they don't want to do, bc the end result usually isn't that great then.

Thanks for the spoiler, I wasn't really planning on watching/reading this series, a friend just told me what it was about and I just wanted to know the ending, was not too interested in the inbetween of the series(lol). So now that I know what happens, I just have a small question, if that's what the trickster ginie did... What was really the original wish? Why would a 9 year old girl ask to be more manly?! Does this get explained? Thanks in advance.

Why would a 9 year old girl ask to be more manly?! Does this get explained? Thanks in advance.
Why not? I'm sure a lot of us in real life have had similar wishes to be one of the opposite sex when we were young. Plus, Megumi was a major tomboy, so this is a pretty natural wish, I think.
It was repetitious because the story went almost no where and it was just two guys going after one girl and the girl looking for a way to change back into a guy But Megumi is really cute. :)
Oh I see... So that was really the wish of the 9 year old girl. I am guessing she wished to be more manly and the genie granted her wish by making her think she was a man, which would make her manly, in a way... Weird weird. Iono.
JediNight

I'm with A-E who is subbing TnK and I have watched the raws thru the end of the series, so here goes if you want to be spoiled :) ......
First off: Megumi was always a girl -- in fact, if you paid attention to the hints dropped by the demon clown earlier, you could deduce this fact from around ep25-30 onwards even. Plus just how she acts all the time -- she very much acts like a girl with alot of ill-informed childish concepts of what it means to be "manly" since she is a tomboy obviously.
So yes, at Age9 she wishes to be the "manliest among men" and the demon makes her AND Miki think she was a boy before. Remember -- the demon said around ep25-30 that he "doesn't have that much power" when the guys are asking the demon for their own wishes. So it becomes obvious that the demon would never have the power to make the entire world/pictures/records etc. all change if Megumi was really a boy -- so the truth is that he just made Megumi and Miki think she was a boy.
We also find out that Miki is actually just as good at fighting as Megumi is -- she goes berserker-mode and kicks the crap out of a bunch of guys -- but she supresses this and acts how "girls should act" if you will ... this shows why she is always trying to get Megumi to act more normal.
So at the end of the series Miki's old fiance kidnaps her in order to get the rest of the Megumi-gang to come so he can mett out his revenge. Working together they each contribute to passing all the traps (yes, even Yasuda, he keeps pulling stuff out of his bag like a Mary Poppins bag, its pretty funny) and get to rescue Miki.
During this time we find out the samurai guys love for Miki (sorry cant remember his name for some reason). Its semi-apparent that Miki likes him as well, but she plays her typical hard-to-get straight thru the end of the series. Genzo passes out after helping defeat Miki's old fiance -- at this point Megumi makes the decision and in a touching moment, says "Thank you my Prince" and kisses Genzo =o while wind-blown hair of Megs covers up the actual kiss heehee. As this happens the demon comes out and messes with Megumi one last time saying "Well since you kissed Genzo, its obvious you choose to stay as a girl, so I grant your wish and bid you farewell" and the book sails off into the sunset LOL! (Cheap, lame, quick ending IMHO sigh). With Megumi going "WTF?!" the entire time =D
After the credits we see Fujiki is going out with Yoshimi (Keiko's "servant friend") so she says well if you're going out with Yoshimi, I guess you can be a servant of mine too LOL. Miki continues being hard to get to the samurai guy. And Genzo finds out that Megumi kissed him, but he doesn't remember since he was passed out - so he asks to kiss her again and Megumi is back to her old ways again for the most part. You can tell though that she mentally accepts that she is a girl, but still stands firm in her tomboy nature to end the series.
Thats it basically :heh:
Haha, dayum! Thanks a lot! You have saved me a lot of time! :D

Yeah, it's a little old now (2002 :heh: ), but I just noticed it on Anime Empire's list (http://www.animesuki.com/group.php/44.html) and decided to try the first episode. And... the characters are really ugly... >_< I'm wondering if the series redeems itself in other categories later...

Though Kashimashi is a lot different than TNK, in that the boy wasn't particularly masculine before the change.

I just finished watching the series and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I have always bee a sucker for a story involving flip-flopped gender (Ranma, Kashimashi).
The art style took a little while to get used to at first, but by the end I loved it. I don't know if I became biased after I realized how much I love this series but I thought it seemed to get better. I think Megu's design was really well done. The characters are very memorable. Megu and Genzo were absolutley awesome. Defintely one of my favorite shows.
Hi i'm new to these forums and was looking at this manga. I haven't read book one yet (cause the library doesn't have it lol) but i did watch the first episode on youtube. I hope to enjoy this manga (even if it doesn't end in a way i want it. I actually hoped he was a boy but would stay as a girl for the rest of his life by choice hehe. I love these mangas ever since i read Ranma 1/2.) Anyway, does anybody know a place where i can read and watch the whole series
on the internet?

The anime isn't licensed so it's still listed on AnimeSuki, Tenshi na Konamaiki (http://www.animesuki.com/series.php/60.html). Anime-Empire (http://a.scarywater.net/ae/) has fansubbed the entire 50 eps.
The manga is licensed by Viz (under the name Cheeky Angel) and can be obtained from Amazon, Barnes&Noble, etc.
Ok but how do you run the file? bittorrent or what?

This thread isn't really the place to ask. It's for the discussion of the anime Tenshi Na Konamaiki, not "what's BitTorrent and how do I use it" :) I'll send you a PM.

Um... This thread is for Tenshi na Konomaiki [Cheeky Angel] not Tenchi Muyo. I couldn't find a topic on that series, it's probably older than this forum. There was an OVA series that was licensed for region 1, so you might find that somewhere.

[QUOTE=Badgirl22;521810]Being a girl myself, I just love the idea of anime shows where boys become girls and would love to see more of them.
So does anyone know if there are anymore series like this ?
I'm an mtf transgender, so I've got a special interest in these kind of shows too...
If 'boys dressed as girls' fits the bill, Princess Princess is excellent.
Or check out the 'suggestions' forum, there's a thread called (I think) 'something like kashimashi' where I asked before.
Anyway, I just finished watching this one, and except for a few small gripes I loved it.
Also, I disagree with a few things but I'll cover it in spoilerspace...
First, my major gripe: I wish Megumi had finished the fight with Gaku-whatever instead of letting Genzo 'tag in.' I mean, I guess they had to have genzo do it for the ending they made, but still...
And the bit I sorta disagree with:
Coming from a transgender perspective, I believe Megumi was a boy whether born male or not. I haven't seen the manga, just some spoilers, so I know Meg was born female; but even then (from what little I have seen) she acted more like a boy than a girl. And when the pierrot shows up, she wishes to be a boy. To me, that sounds like she always was a boy in her head and heart.

The answer is hinted at. As Miki is being held captive she remembers her first meeting with Megumi where she tells Megumi about how one day she's going to be given to a monster and Megumi decides that she'll be the "prince" who Miki wishes would save her. 9 year-old Megumi is trying to turn herself into that hero, like one from her video-games. What she's really wishing for when she wishes to become a "man among men" is that she'll become a hero. Pierrot may not have fulfilled the letter of the wish, but he did fulfill the spirit as much as possible. Her delusion kept her from growing out of her tomboy phase, and kept her working to become a more powerful fighter.

omg i'm so glad people liked this anime as much as me. i downloaded all 50 episodes off AnimeEmpire a while back and watched them, and decided to share them, so i uploaded a bunch on YouTube. They weren't as big a success as i wanted, but people did watch and like them. But even though i watched the series, i find myself rewatching it over and over again, and hoping that they continue it somehow. I mean, i hope i'm not alone on this one, but i was just not happy with the ending. I wanted Genzo and megumi to hook up, for her to really want to stay a girl, and, i don't know, just more. but overall, and i say this with glee, i loved this series, and i hope as many people enjoy it as possible! ^_^
I so love this anime. I think this is where school rumble and a handful of some other animes based their series from. It's very original and you'll keep laughing your head off. :) I regret just watching it now when I could have done it a year ago. They should make a remake!

Heya, I'm new here but I felt I really had to add to this discussion.
Having finally watched the final episode, I thought the ending was hilarious. Although a part of me was hoping that it would be different than manga in the fact that he would become male in the end. You see I thought it would be interesting should Megumi become a guy, and with this newfound strength defeat that arrogant Takao Gakusen as a man. Was anyone else thinking about that or is it just me?
Those thoughts aside, I felt the series was pretty good and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
EDIT: (Forgot to add spoiler tags, my apologies.)

i just watched the whole series....skipped some episodes in between though
i really dont want megumi to be girl and hook up with genzo,...i wanted megumi and miki to be together even if megumi where to be girl right grom her birth.....
right from the beginning i really wanted megumi to become a man than being a girl
and the ending, i think it was not satisfying leaving megumi as a girl
and i really dont like genzo always butting in megumi's fightx
can anyone tell me that the fact that meg was actually a girl in anime or not[as i skipped around 15 episodes and watched last 10 episodes after that]
as in manga they told that meg was born as girl
and r thr any extra episodes of this series produced other than 50 episodes??

hmm I just have a question concerning the anime and the manga. How closely does the anime follow the manga? If it follows the manga to what chapter or volume does the anime follow the manga up to before deviating into a anime original ending?

I just finished this series. Watching the cast fumble about over both Megumi and trying to find the balance between being a man and being an idiot is lots of fun. There's plenty to like about the show...
The fighting got on my nerves as the show progressed though, the show would be better without most of it:
'Being accosted by random thugs' is used way too much. I can suspend reality to a point, but seriously: How many totally random scumholes can you run into in one lifetime? Is it impossible for two people to meet and bond without being assaulted by street punks? Is there a secret society who's goal is to bring people together through random acts of violence? XD
As much as I enjoy a righteous buttwhupping, some of the more serious situations needed closure that our heroes thoroughly fail at. They walk away from every conflict thinking 'We kicked your ass, so everything's settled... just don't try to assault, kidnap, murder, rape, or psychologically torment us again!' They never press charges for extremely serious crimes to protect other people in the future. Or (if stopping someone legally is too unmanly...) gain some kind of leverage that would keep the same people from doing the same thing over and over again...
I guess it sounds like I'm bashing Tenshi na Konamaiki, which isn't the case. The series is extremely enjoyable. The comedy and characters are good, the fighting I could do without, but overall I recommend it. =D
