Nope...

The manga was licensed by Viz recently... never heard that the anime itself was...

Actually, this whole thread should be moved out of the licensed forum ^_~

*looks at kanji* I think I might know what you're looking for - it's officially called "Kaikan Phrase". You can take a look at this fan site (http://niko-niko.net/kaikan/) to see if this is the show you're talking about...

According to the webmistress, the anime hasn't been picked up by any North American company, nor did I read anything about it in the AnimeOnDVD licensing lists. Viz licensed the manga version, though, and released it under the title "Sensual Phrase".

I heard good things about series...there seems to be a dearth of unlicensed non-magical-girl shoujo anime available for download these days...

Hope that helps, nikita!

P.S. "LOVE MELODY"!? Nice HK-DVD-esque translation O_o;;; I heard that bootleg versions of Fruits Basket (or was it fansubs? I don't remember) have "Illusory Angel" (or something similar) as the title...

You can check with Shoujomagic on this. They can prolly tell you more about the anime since they did scanlations on the manga.

I like Kaikan Phrase too. I like most things Shinjo Mayu even though I'm not a big fan of Shoujo in general.

I've seen about 20 episodes of Kaikan Phrase anime. Almost none of it had to do with the manga. Rather than focus on the drama of Sakuya and Aine (the two of them hadn't even met until one of the later eps) it was about the band (Lucifer) trying to get started up in the Japanese music industry. There was a lot of time spent on each band member's backstory (though some things about Sakuya were kept shadowy).

I thought it was an OK yarn but it was tough having to hear the same couple of songs over and over in little bits. Even then I liked it better than what I have read of the manga, which is just so over-the-top with the evil schemes and so on...

Yes, Kaikan Phrase the manga is licensed, but not the anime.

Also, Itsuka Anime released eps. 1-24 on animesuki. But they will not be releasing the remaining episodes. Simply because they never did them. Rather, Vortex Anime and Hitokiri's Fansub Haven finished eps. 25-44. However, I don't believe they will will be releasing them on animesuki, at least Hitokiri's Fansub Haven won't. I emailed them to ask them about it and this is the reply I got:

The fansub distribution I have is a vhs only and my projects are only
traditionally subbed. I personally won't be digitally releasing any fansubs. I
don't know what Vortex fansubs will do, but as far as I know they don't have
plans
for an on-line release either.

Sorry...

So, if you are patiently waiting for the rest of the series, you will be waiting for a LONG time because it won't be released (more than likely).

But if you are like me and want to finish the series, visit Hitokiri's Fansub Haven at:

Do you have Vortex's site by any chance? If they have one that is

Vortex Fansubs website (http://www.fansubber.net/). Vortex is releasing on homebrew DVDs, that should be good enough for anyone. After taking the time to cook them up they shouldn't be expected to compress them into something that won't look or sound as good.

And it looks like the whole thread should go over into Fansubs - there is no thread for this unlicensed series just now, and it's not like the show isn't fansubbed.

Well its not fansubbed online... Only the first 24

The rest of it you can only get sending away VHS D= I have no idea what forum this is in though I just did a search =D

Itsuka-Anime most likely didn't release episodes 1-24 on AnimeSuki either. It is most likely
someone else who captured their VHS fansubs, and then someone else who took those captures
and put them on BitTorrent. However since they were originally fansubbed by Itsuka-Anime,
we still credit them for it.

In the same way the rest of the episodes may still appear on BitTorrent one day, assuming someone
has the VHS tapes, is willing to capture them and put them on BT, and assuming the original
fansub groups don't mind them being digitized.

You are correct, no one that had any connection to the Itsuka Kaikan project had anything to do with the eps that showed up on bt. Nor did I have any knowledge about this, or in anyway approve of it as far as I know. The project wasnt dropped, it instead just sort of died. There were 5 of us originally, most of which I havent been in contact with in years.

Wondering what ever happened to the rest of the project crew.

Do you mean you want to know if someone is going to fansub the series?
Or if someone will finish fansubbing the series?
Or if someone will seed the currently released episodes?

I got to know Kaikan Phrase by accident when I stumbled upon a game to play in PS1. Since then, I finished it and loved it in every bit... I was captivated by it, so much that I actually got to start writing on it. But to my 1st dismay, I didn't know it already had an anime, and had trouble fixing my written work. 2ndly, I found out it had a manga as well, to which didn't affect much of my work since the manga and anime storylines were very different in focus.

So , ever since I fell in love with the band, not knowing it had an anime and manga, I got to play some of their songs by piano; but I'm just doing it by ear. Up to now I'm still trying to get it whole. The song that Sakuya plays is "Dakishimeru Hoka ni Dekirundarou"; he's playing the piano version of the song. So far, there's also a piano version of "Datenshi Blue". But if you're looking for downloads, I've searched the net, and failed to find any piano versions. Even the acoustic version of "Sekai de Ichiban" and "Silent Melody" played by Sakuya are anywhere to be found. Must be because OST these days are completeling in detail unlike before for Kaikan Phrase or the band Lucifer/Aucifer.

I found out about this series after going through random mangas at Borders. The manga was very.... adultish.. XD however is was Sensual Phrase.

Overall i actually liked the anime version over the manga. Since this is about music, we need SOUND!!! I didnt like how the series ended, that was my only complaint plotwise. The animation needed major work since so were so many stock footage on the band's performance.

The songs i like from Lucifer is C no binetsu, Tokyo Illusion, Dakishimeru hokani naniga dekirundarou, and Regret.

in my opinion the manga is way better than the anime
u can read the manga at http://shoujocrusade.com/
and you can watch the anime at veoh.com

The two are completely different. The manga is an an adult smut manga, dealing with rape drugs, assault and just about every other thing under sun. The anime was rewritten using the manga as a base, and IMO its the better of the two, since it has a better defined story and plot.

But as i said, they're aimed at two different groups.
