2003-11-04, 19:58

2003-11-04, 20:14

2003-11-04, 20:18

2003-11-04, 20:22
Iria: Zeiram the Animation - my overall favorite
Akira - for the story line and animation (still surprises me that it was made in the 80's)
Armitage - cause she's a badass
DBZ - for the fights

Danny Boy

It's extremely difficult to choose a "favorite" anime because one cannot really compare say, a movie, with a TV series or OAV series. So I'll be posting my favorites in each category:

It's either Ocean Waves (I can Hear the Ocean) or Whisper of the Heart (If you Listen Closely), both by Studio Ghibli. Patlabor the Movie (1st one), Kiki's Delivery Service and Lupin III - Castle of Cagliostro gets honorable mention.

Hands down, it's Patlabor: The New Files. Macross Plus, Tenchi Muyo, and 3 x 3 Eyes (both OAV series) are also very high on my list.

TV Series:
Scrapped Princess and Cowboy Bebop of course. Ranma 1/2, Kimagure Orange Road, Escaflowne and Full Metal Panic are the other TV shows which I admire a lot.

There are perhaps other shows that I failed to include, my mind's a bit hazy at the moment.

2003-11-04, 20:39
Quite easy to answer... Neon Genesis Evangelion
It has been my favorite anime since I first saw it, some two years ago and I finally bought End of Eva DVD last spring.

And I like both endings, series' and movie's.

2003-11-04, 21:11
Nadesico. I like most of the other anime listed in this thread too, but there are a few I haven't seen.
Akira - for the story line and animation
Superchop, have you read the Akira manga? It's a lot better than the anime in my opinon. It can be hard to find though, especially if you don't actually want to buy it. I had to go to 3 bookstores to read the whole thing.

2003-11-04, 21:17
Probably Lain, although Evangelion is very close indeed.

2003-11-04, 21:17
Hunter X Hunter, love it :)
ippo is join 1st with hxh :)

after that junni kokki and last exile joint 2nd/3rd

Mad Cat
2003-11-04, 22:13

Gotta say Ultra Maniac becouse of all the faces they do and i just love em

2003-11-04, 22:30
Kenshin Kenshin Kenshin :) (Minus the nonsense fillers, plus the manga Jinchuu arc and the OVA, certainly.)

And in the overall category, Hikaru no Go would be my runner-up... but there really are so many fantastic series out there... gotta love them all for a whole range of reasons (uhm... Ebichu...) *guttermind*

2003-11-04, 23:23
Difficult choice, but I guess I'll go with Dragonball.

2003-11-04, 23:37
Superchop, have you read the Akira manga? It's a lot better than the anime in my opinon. It can be hard to find though, especially if you don't actually want to buy it. I had to go to 3 bookstores to read the whole thing.

I think i've seen it...it was only a couple books that i saw...and weren't there like about 6? but they were pretty big...and expensive so needless to say didn't exaclty pick them up all that fast...although i'm not much into manga..i prefer anime

2003-11-05, 02:52
hm.......all time favorite ^^ can i pick 2! :D

1st is defin'tly Trigun and other is always Kenshin :D

2003-11-05, 05:32
I'm very sorry. I will never be able to pick one so I will name 10. :heh:

Rurouni Kenshin
Cowboy Bebop
One Piece
Prince of Tennis
Slam Dunk
Ai no Kusabi
Fruits Basket
Violinist of Hameln

2003-11-05, 06:44

Also blue gender, ramna and tenchi are sweet

And my best film is grave of the fireflys!

2003-11-05, 07:09
Hajime no Ippo, Hunter X Hunter or Trigun. Can't really decide.

2003-11-05, 08:14
Hmmm...there are too many that are my all-time favorites, so I can't choose just one. :)

1. Naruto
2. Hikaru no Go
3. Witch Hunter Robin

2003-11-05, 08:20
Difficult, Saishuu Heiki Kanojo, or Kenshin OVA 1

>< Can't choose *frustrated*

2003-11-05, 15:54
Hard question. Hmmmm..... It has to be Hajime No Ippo for my #1 choice.

2003-11-05, 15:57
There can be only one and that one is Juuni Kokki!

2003-11-05, 16:00
3 way tie:
Azumanga Daioh
Juuni Kokuki
Seikai no Monshuu/Senki/Senki II

2003-11-06, 00:41
Right now, Chobits is my all-time favorite anime, but KgNE is quickly catching up to it. If KgNE stays as good as it is now, it just might replace Chobits in the #1 slot :).

Mr. Bushido
2003-11-06, 01:08
Hmmm.... look at my sn and my sig. (no pic yet i know)
One Piece
especially that Zoro, he's just so crazy

FMP? Fumofu is there too, since i love military and the anime is great.

2003-11-06, 01:41
I would choose...

Prince of Tennis
Please Teacher

Kempis Curious
2003-11-07, 01:53
Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou recently edged out Kodomo no Omocha after I got a huge deal on some awesome cels at the last anime expo. :) Is that a valid reason to make it my favorite? The manga is the best I've ever seen, that helps a lot.

The first season of Ranma 1/2 was on top for many years.

2003-11-07, 03:57
All time favorite: Hunter X Hunter

2003-11-07, 16:54

'nuff said :heh:

2003-11-07, 17:11
Alien Nine... >_>

2003-11-07, 20:26
Hmmm well I haven't watched much so I don't have many choices to choose from...

But I guess for now I'll go with Saikano just because the story was soooooooooo sad that I cried and cried my eyes out during every minute of the anime (seriously... I was pathetic..). I used up half a box of tissues and by the end of the anime... I had a big huge mountain of tissues on my computer desk... my eyes puffy and red the whole next day... sooo sad....

hehehehe :: all embrassed because I'm such a crybaby :: :D

2003-11-07, 21:36
Puni Puni Poemi -- the most enjoyable piece of chaos EVER :)

2003-11-07, 23:30
Tie between:
Azumanga Daioh
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Cowboy Bebop

2003-11-07, 23:34
Well, it's a hard question, indeed, but I'd say my favorites are:

- Cowboy Bebop
- Akira
- Rurouni Kenshin OVA (both Tsuiokohen and Seisouhen)

Speaking of Akira manga, it's the best manga ever IMO. 1000000x better than the anime (and the anime ownz) :D

Kakashi Sensei
2003-11-08, 00:37
Inuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuyasha. :)

2003-11-08, 01:55
Kenshin (Kyoto Arc)
Fruits Basket
Escaflowne (even though it was a bishounen, i enjoyed all the action)
City Hunter (i love this shizat :D)
Initial D: Second Stage
Love Hina

My all time most favorite anime has to be Densetsu Shoot...the only sports anime i enjoyed AND the very first anime that i was hooked on that didn't involve robots, magic, or samurai.

2003-11-08, 02:53

My favourite of all times remains Neon Genesis Evangelion
closely followed by:
Princess Mononoke (Mononoke Hime) <--- greatest movie ever, but NGE is too strong

I'm actually amazed that noone mentioned Mononoke Hime, and only 2-3 Neon Genesis Evangelion. Older animes had more substance. I just couldn't get myself download ep2 of Galaxy Railways [so far the greatest disappointment for me]

2003-11-09, 14:59

Hellsing (Arkard - Alucard - Aurcard who ever hes just Suppish)
Zoids (the OG with Bit Cloud, Bit was the Shizzy!)
DBZ (cause its just fun, and i like to cheer'em on)

I guess you guys are just like me, you cant just pick one for your favorite anime :D

2003-11-10, 00:11
If I can only pick one, then my pick for the series would be Junni Kokki (aka 12 Kingdoms), closely followed by RahXephon and Ghost in the Shell - SAC. As for OVA, my pick would be Kenshin - Reminiscence, followed by Macross Plus.

2003-11-11, 18:35
Hi there everyone.

My favorite anime is Cardcaptor Sakura.

I love a lot more, but CCS is the one for me ^^

Ja ne!

2003-11-11, 21:10
Series has to be Naruto (only just though, Last EXILE is a close second, with Berserk close behind that).

Movie has to be Princess Mononoke (only because the movie of Akira doesnt scratch the surface of the story though :P )

2003-11-17, 21:11
Too many, i can't decide...um..um....Hikaru no go, Prince of Tennis, Fullmetal Alchemist, Kenshin, Dragonball......!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First anime love: Vampire Hunter D
Favorite anime movie: Princess Mononoke & Akira
Favorite anime series: Neon Genesis Evangelion and Rurouni Kenshin

2003-11-21, 13:46

2003-11-21, 14:18
I have no trouble naming only one favorite: Azumanga Daioh ! .. I'll get never bored of it :D

2003-11-21, 17:40
Hajime no Ippo or Get Backers. I think Hajime no Ippo gets the first place.

2003-11-21, 20:00
I'm not even going to answer this question as most of you would rather dismiss them as old anime.

2003-11-22, 04:28
Vandread or Ayashi no ceres, i can never pick between the 2.

2003-11-22, 09:40
yu yu hakusho (good fights with an impressive story from the beginning..though the end kind of sucked...)

meitantei conan (it's conan!)

2003-11-22, 17:22
RahXephon........GunDam Seed........12 kingdoms........Azumanga Daioh........Fruits Basket.............Utena.......... Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust

Any show i watch over and over are always my all time fav......Can't have a girl just pick one.

2003-11-23, 06:16
Wow, almost impossible for me to choose..........hhmm.........*thinks*.........
I would have to say Kiddy Grade.

2003-11-23, 08:47
See for me, I watch so many kinds of anime that i would have to pick fav's for the different genre's because some are better than others in their own way.

Fighting anime---Grappler Baki
Drama-- Kimi ga Nozomu Eien(don't like drama but damn this is a good one)
Mecha--- Neon Genesis Evangelion and Gundam ova's and RahXephon too
Comedy--- Love Hina(nuf' said)
Just Bad Ass--- Berserk and Last Exile
Shounen---One Piece and Naruto(could be fighting too)
Movies---Grave of the Fireflies, Jin-Roh, Spirited Away, Ninja Scroll, and DBZ movie 8

Man i could put so many others up here but these came to mind.

2004-01-14, 15:52
FLCL or bebop for me, i didn't much like akira though.

2004-01-14, 15:57
i got 6

geo breeders
Gun smith cats
night on the galactic Railroad
comic party

Joe Dalton
2004-01-14, 16:08
Like some people said its hard but I think maybe kenshin or cowboy bebop......
If naruto had stayed as good as it was untill ep 19 it would have been a contender.
Maybe full metal panic also...... and the way full metal alchemist is going that might become an option also arg just 2 many

2004-01-14, 17:45
I like Magic Girls Animes
I don't like Adult type of Animes and Violent Animes

2004-01-15, 11:13
So many to choose, so little time. I'll try to put them in order:

#1 #1 TRIGUN
Cowboy Bebop
FLCL (This one is weird but still cool)
Inu Yasha
Yu Yu Hakusho

I have been trying to find Outlaw Star but have had no luck.

2004-01-15, 18:49
Series - Eva, but Kimi ga is trying hard to take its place

Movie - Ah My Goddess

2004-01-15, 21:13
Tough call. Like most everyone else, I'd have to by genre. A quick list.....

Samurai X/Kenshin
Fushigi Yuugi-maybe
Inu Yasha

Honorable mentions:

Lain-you have to be in the mood for this one
Perfect Blue-another mood one
Record of Lodoss War

By the way has anyone seen Gestalt. Is it worth it?

2004-03-09, 06:23
I know that there's been post like what you got you into anime and so on. But I want to know what youlr favorite all time anime is. Mine is Ranma 1/2 I have watched all 7 season and I have no problem watching them again and again. I even have a bad habbit (as some of you mite of nolticed) of comparing things in the forums to Ranma. (see japan gropers) My favorite anime movie though is Mononoke Hime (Princess Mononoke) wich is also what got me into anime.

So what are youre favorites?

2004-03-09, 07:26
It's tough to single one out as being better than my top picks. But I'm going to have to go with Noir. I get pumped up just thinking about that show.

2004-03-09, 08:16
two words.. Excel Saga

this has to be the all time best anime, i've seen it through more than 5 times.

2004-03-09, 08:34
3 words: wrong sub forum! :heh:

ok btt: There is no such anime for me. I like many of them. If I had to choose I would choose nothing instead of rating one specific anime over the others.

2004-03-09, 09:42
Looks like someone missed this thread (http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=199)...

2004-03-09, 10:38
Naruto is my favorite and always will be XD

Last Exile
2004-03-09, 12:06
I can't believe that only 3 people out of 82 responses mentioned Fruits Basket, thats f****ing criminal, I can hardly think of a more eloquent, concise and meaningful anime out there!

So yeah, Fruits Basket, KimiNozo, kare kano and Eva for plot...
Last Exile, ROD OVA, FLCL and Naruto for visual style.

Lina Inverse
2004-03-09, 14:48
Only one is impossible :hmm:

So here are my top 10 favorites:

Neon Genesis Evangelion
Mamotte Shugogetten
Excel Saga
Dirty Pair Flash
Ryu Knight
Sailor Moon
To Heart
Mahou Tsukai Tai

2004-03-09, 16:11

Runners-up are Full Metal Panic and KimiNozo, in that order.

2004-03-09, 16:13
On the top of my list Naruto is the best. I love the humor, action, story line.. JUST EVERYTHING in that anime. Then right below that on my list would have to be FMA.... Very Very VERT good anime. Agian, the charictar devolpment is just awsome :)

2004-03-09, 16:57
In no particular order:

Cowboy Bebop
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Scrapped Princess/Excel Saga/Trigun/Naruto

2004-03-09, 17:00
In no particular order:

2004-03-09, 17:05
SO your number 1 fav. is narutru??? WTF.. that anime is like the worst anime in ALL time.. The endeing just BLOWS

Then i take it as if you haven't seen all that much anime -_-

2004-03-09, 17:21
Is it the worst anime of all time because you don't understand it? Mindless fighting isn't my bag, I like a good anime that makes you think. And that isn't the ending, the manga continues and a lot more things happen.

2004-03-09, 18:02
Of course, I could easily state that Naruto is a pice of crap not worth anyone's time. I don't actually believe that, but I'm certain many do. I do believe that it is not worth my time to download it, and it is certainly nothing I would pay to see. It's simply not my cup of tea.

Different strokes for different folks. I still stand by the Macross franchise (SDF Macross, DYRL?, Flashback 2012, Macross Plus, Macross 7, Dynamite 7, and Macross Zero) as being my favourite anime series.

I also still think it's a shame that so many people either have a very short memory span, or simply limit themselves to what is currently new and trendy. But hey, that's their perogative.

2004-03-09, 18:30
My favorite anime ? I have more than just one. They are very randomly assorted according to their themes. ( Which is pretty funny. ) Yet they all have one noticable thing in commen. strong char development

No1, on my list will probably alweays be Berserk.

2. I like the inu one.

3. Excel saga

4. Gilgamesh

5. Magical street abenobashi

6. Ghost in the shell

7. ( finally !!! ) Mezzo d.s.a

8. Full metal alchemist. Its new but it'l grow on you ( like kudzuu !!)

2004-03-09, 18:35
It would be hard to name one series as my favorite...

So I'll just say the World Masterpiece Theatre series.
Also, anything by Matsumoto Leiji. :)

2004-03-09, 23:14
In no particular order:

Neon Genesis Evangelion
Full Metal Alchemist
Ghost in the Shell
Mahou Tsukai Tai
Steel Angel Kurumi (1st season ONLY, shes so kawai!!!! XD)

2004-03-10, 02:38
Can't believe it hasn't been mentioned.. Initial D owns all !! ;)

2004-03-10, 14:07
1 Now & Then, Here & There (has my favorite scene in any anime)
2 Cowboy Bebop (watched every episode about 3 times without even trying)
3 FLCL (actually pretty powerful, moreso than NGE imo)

Lately I really enjoyed HnG and HxH but I think they're a little too long running to consider in the top 3.

2004-03-11, 19:33
Hmm... I suppose that the best anime for my taste is Love Hina... It was the first serie that I saw and I'll never regret that I watched it! =) Onegai Teacher was the second serie that I saw and I must say that I cried when watching that... Lol! Extremely good serie as well, anyway! =) Hmm... FMA, Naruto, Prince of Tennis and stuff like that is good as well... Oh, and u musn't forget Chobits! =)

Oh, and Kare Kano is one of the best series I've ever seen, although it stopped so suddenly... =/

2004-03-11, 21:03
Flame of Recca
Gundam Wing

2004-03-11, 23:05
heres mines:

Gundam Seed
Prince of Tennis
Get Backers
Full Metal Alchemist
Kimi Ga Nozomi Eien
Dragon Ball

anyways all animes are good except for some... :heh:

2004-03-11, 23:34
Macross( all of them), the Legend of Black Heaven, Jin-Roh, Sexy Commando, Planetes, and hopefully Gits 2.

2004-03-13, 17:00
No offense to the evangelion lovers but i think its just a tiny but over rated.

2004-03-13, 18:16
hmm i'd have to say Trigun and Yu Yu Hakusho.

2004-03-13, 18:42
No offense to the evangelion lovers but i think its just a tiny but over rated.

I concur. but it's still okay.

2004-03-13, 18:51
Sakura Diary Don't ask why ^^ .

2004-03-13, 19:58

7 Lain (Complex and thoughtful anime) (It's a thoughtful anime)

8 Kimiga Noguzo Eien/Wolf's Rain (Perfect Character development) (It makes you cry)

9 Hikaru No Go/Scrapped Princess (Very original story, good storyline and good sound) (It leaves you in a good mood)

10 Full Metal Panic (funniest anime I've ever seen (It leaves you in a good mood)

2004-03-13, 20:24
heres just a little i can name without really thinking ive probably missed something really important but there have been so many of these threads

evangelion(obsessed with it)
narutaru(why isnt there more?!!need more)
juuni kokki
one piece(hell yeah!!!!)

2004-03-15, 04:10
Here is my favourite anime in no order at all.

NGE - Like allot of people, this got me hooked
Great Teacher Onizuka - FUNNY S#ait :heh:
Cowboy Bebop - Why Did it end!!
and ofcourse none other than Naruto. - The Suspense is killing me.

As you can see I usually steer away from the stuff aimed at kids, but some shows are just an exception (usually Teen +)

So ill toss Chobits, Tenchi and Live Hina into Anuins Fruit Salad too (Definately not #1 tho) - Stir up some love and romance.

2004-03-15, 05:56
I've seen a LOT of anime. Really. By my database count almost 100 series.
And my absolute favorite is still:

Card Captor Sakura.

Other's I absolutely loved: Kokoro Library, Princess Tutu, Narutaru, and Revolutionary Girl Utena. Oh, and Azumanga Daioh.

What the hell, I'll add Kimagure Orange Road too.

Hmm, looking at my list, seems I have a thing for female characters. Hardly any guys in my favorite shows!

2004-03-15, 11:58

My favorite serie is Mirai Shonen Konan, future boy conan.
By the way it's how i discover the forum, i was looking for it on the web. And since, i reguralrly check the forum...... :) , City Huntetr , Saint Seya. All this anime I have seen in french as a child. And Hokuto no Ken. (old one of course). DB. Esteban.

Otherwise I am rather Mononoke than ghost in shell, and Lupin III, is not bad.

The current anime.......Full Metal Alchem. Galaxy RAilw. And..... I was surprised to like Ultramaniacs...

2004-03-29, 16:37
Fruits Basket (There were so many great episodes and only one mediocre episode, damn guy always apologizing).
Shingetsusen Tsukihime (spelling?)
Heat Guy J
FMP fummofu (spelling?)

By the way I agree that it Fruits Basket should be getting more nominations.
NGE is getting far too much praise though, a boring beginning+a great middle+a crappy end (+however the remade ending was okay) do not equal one of the greatest series of all times (most controversial would be more appropiate).
Maburaho would have made the list if there wasn't a trend of two good episodes, two/three bad episodes and so forth but I haven't seen it since ep12.

2004-03-29, 19:03
my list:

1. Saint Seiya. Im biased on this one. Seiya was an enormous part of my childhood so i think its the best and its impossible for me to change my mind, even if i see some new fantastic anime series.

2. Grave of the fireflies: now here is a movie that will really make you cry, i mean "really"... the best movie i've ever seen.

3. :dots: i can't think of anything else, after mentioning those two above everything else pales in comparison IMHO. Of course i like vampire hunter D: Blood lust, shingetsutan tsukihime, last exile and many others, but those two i've mentioned have a very special place in my heart.

2004-03-30, 09:44
Mmm, i love

Full Metal Alchemist,
Peace Maker Kurogane
Chrno Crusade
Scrapped Princess.

But whilst Naruto and FMA are on going for now, and ive finished downloading PMK and SP (chrno crusade is now licensed :()

Recommendations on what anime's (fansubs, available here?) i should watch?

2004-03-30, 17:37
Excel Saga freak right here. I watched all the episodes 3 times in Japanese and English. (That's right, I bothered to watch the dub.)

It's just not an anime, it's a way of life!

Other favorites include Full Moon wo Sagashite, Cowboy Bebop, and Cardcaptor Sakura, Sailor Moon Super S (Japanese with subtitles), and the dead dub that is Samari Pizza Cats (My first anime I ever seen in my life. I miss it. ;_; )

Others (OAV's, Movies)

FLCL, Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Kiki's Delivery Service.

Needless to say I haven't seen a lot of anime (I'm only 15 and I have no money.)

Edit: There are some anime that would have been up here but I haven't seen enough to say I'm a fan.
Ultra Maniac (4 episodes)
Ranma 1/2 (8 episodes)
Fruits Basket (Just didn't put it up because I forgot to. 20 episodes)

2004-03-30, 17:39
I learned alot about anime from DBZ
so i guess thats my fave

2004-03-30, 21:32
My ALL time favorite anime is Onegai Teacher, OTwins, Mahoromatic, and possibly Full Moon Wo Sagashite. Well i have to much anime... if you want you can check out my full anime list.. The link is in my sig

2004-03-31, 05:18
For romance and comedy: boys be (1st anime that's truly touching for me), ai yori aoshi ,full metal panic fumoffu and Touch :)

For the best story i'll go for Hikaru no go ( its really really really great although i dont know anything about GO ^_^)

I also lov most Gundam series (except zeta and double zeta gundam)

2004-03-31, 07:56
Hmm this is hard question some of the ones i like are:

Full Metal Panic
Onegai Teacher
Cowboy Bebop
Rurouni Kenshin
Gundam SEED

From the ones i am currently seeing it's One Piece and Naruto.

2004-04-01, 08:16
After watching Kimi ga nomozu eien, this has become one of, if not my favourite anime of all time!

2004-04-10, 03:34
Favorite anime eh? Thats a really hard choice. The best anime series I have seen are Rurouni Kenshin, Scryed, Hellsing, Gungrave, Trigun, Full Metal Alchemist, Chrno Crusade, Evangelion, Gundam Seed, Cowboy bebop, X TV and Beserk(not including how it ended).
Narrowing that down even farther to the best of the best with my point of view and id say its a toss up betweeen Scryed and Trigun, plus the fact that they are both completely finished helps too. Now out of those two I couldnt possible choose, Scryed definatly has the best ending ive seen. So my favorites would be either Trigun or Scryed.

2004-04-10, 05:19
1: Get Backers - even though the ending was weak.
2: GTO- Great character development and comedy.
3: FMP:Fumoffo- Best comedy ive watched and great animation
To many great ones like Hellsing,Naruto,Inuyasha,Kenshin,FMA, and Princess Mononoke but theyre all near the top of the list.

2004-04-12, 08:46
My all time favorite must be Full metal panic?, I just wish that they would air another season soon!

2004-04-14, 23:05

Flame Fist Ace
2004-04-15, 00:25
1. One Piece (Wierd animation, but awesome plot and charcter development. Very original.)

2. Hajime no Ippo (Boxing! Wasn't sure at first, but turned out to be really great. Fights are very cool. Also quite a bit of humor... and penis jokes... bahahaha.)

3. FMA (May overtake HnI in the future.. this anime has cool characters and a very interesting and dark plot.)

4. Naruto (This anime would definitely be at least number 2 if they didn't drag the plot so much. But what can I say, ninjas are the single greatest thing ever. This anime is also very interesting since I hate every single character in the show, but it still manages to make me come back for more!)

5. Get Backers ( Very cool anime, nice character designs and a crazy plot. Awesome fights and humor too!)

6. GTO (The funniest anime I have ever seen. I shead tears laughing.)

7. Scrapped Princess (I think this anime was to short and the ending was only semi-good, but it's still definitely worth watching. Plot is strange, but thats what I liked about it.)

8. Last Exile (I wouldn't usually like this kind of anime.. not funny, not a lot of action or fighiting... but the animation and story were awesome.)

9. Trigun (First anime I watched.. got me hooked. Vash is awesome.)

10. Cowboy Bebop (Interesting anime, I didn't really like any of the characters except Spike, and it was kinda confusing for me... but I think if I were to watch it a second time it would be higher on my list.)

Those are my top 10!

P.S. I know I overuse the word awesome.

2004-04-15, 00:58

Some of my favorites:

Cardcaptor Sakura(Very cute anime. I love Sakura.)

GTO (Onizuka is too funny to not love. Not a very good ending though.)
Sexy Commando (Wierd as hell. XD)
Last Exile (I havent seen ALL of this but from what I watched I loved)
Scrapped Princess ( This is a good show. Nice plot that starts slow but endsalright. Seems like a sudden ending though.)

Outlaw Star (An anime that many people didnt like but I did! Its not a CB rip off since they came out at the same time.>=O Like Cowboy Bebop but not as tense)
Hellsing (Fun vampire story. Alucard is fun!)
Haruhi Suzumiya (Fun and cute storyline. VERY wierd too but thats ok I liked it.)

psycho bolt
2006-12-10, 22:29
Cowboy Bebop for its uniqueness.

2006-12-11, 01:39
I don't think I can name just one...or five even--my top ten in no real order:

Kare Kano
Boogiepop Phantom
Princess Nine
Maria-sama ga Miteru
Cowboy Bebop

2006-12-11, 16:35
So far, number 1 on my list is Full Moon wo Sagashite, and it is very likely that it will be replaced by Kanon (2006) once the series is over.

2006-12-11, 18:31
For me it would be Haibane Renmei, since it struck some heavy cords in with my feelings. The only other anime that was really competing with it was Texhnolyze.

2006-12-12, 02:45
My current list of Top 10 anime (combining TV series, OVAs, and movies) and was last updated in June 2006 (next update would be in June 2007):
Legend of the Galactic Heroes (Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu)
Rurouni Kenshin OVA: Tsuiokuhen (Rurouni Kenshin OVA: Trust & Betrayal)
Tomorrow's Joe (Ashita no Joe) Seasons 1 and 2
Patlabor 2
Now and Then, Here and There (Ima, Sokoni Iru Boku)
ZipangSpans the 70s, 80s, 90s, and recent years.

2006-12-12, 10:29
Can't believe nobody mentioned Hachimitsu no Clover I & II or School Rumble!

My all time favourites are:

School Rumble
Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Kenkaku Romantan - Tsuiokuhen
Elfen Lied
Fruits Basket

Ongoing that will probably enter the all time list:

Bokura Ga Ita
Code Geass

2006-12-12, 12:32
The very best right now for me would be elfen, however I need to see Rozen finished before making the decision. Rozen has that high a ceiling. Hopefully they will develop the alice concept well. Other animes are fun too, but these two shows represent what anime can do, so they stand out amongst others.

Kenshin ova reminiscence is also very very good, but it is a film to me.

Haruhi, waiting for it to finish, but also has potential. But maybe i'm not in the mood for it right now... but still miles above other shows.

2006-12-12, 12:37
Dragonball Z

2006-12-12, 17:15
Scrapped Princess!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2006-12-20, 19:29
Hunter x Hunter as for all-time favorite

Also some other that deserves credit, being Hajime no Ippo, Prince of Tennis and Major for sport-animes, Death Note although not finished, higurashi no naku koro ni and monster for mystery/thriller-kinda.

2006-12-20, 20:24
Legend of Galactic Heroes
Macross (The original - not the sequels)
Wings of Honneamise
Cowboy Bebop

2006-12-21, 13:43
Mine's would have to be Fruits Basket and Beyblade.

2006-12-21, 14:25
Suzumiya Haruhi no yuuutsu ranks very high in my list.

Kaoru Chujo
2006-12-23, 15:59

I'm not making any judgment as to what is the best anime -- there are good anime that I don't personally like -- but Simoun is definitely my favorite at the moment.

Others in the running: Honey & Clover 1, SHnY, Haibane Renmei, Ichigo Mashimaro, Uta~Kata, Planetes, Crest of Stars, NANA, Marimite.

2006-12-23, 19:07
Well for me it's Noir, kinda hard to explain why, it's a mix of the characters, music, atmosphere. There's other shows that i love (mosts mentionned by Kaoru Chujo) but for me it's all about Noir.

2006-12-23, 22:18
my favorite animes are wolf's rain, kiddy grade, fullmetal alchemist, and neon genesis evangelion.

2006-12-24, 05:35

2006-12-24, 10:23

If a couples more then
-Rozen Maiden + RM Traumend
-Slam Dunk

2006-12-26, 00:00
hads down full metal alchemist

2006-12-26, 00:37

My Neighbor Totoro
Spirited Away
Howl's Moving Castle
Grave of the Fireflies

After nearly four years of watching many other series, Full Moon Wo Sagashite still remains #1 in my heart. ^_^

And it might always be....my obsessions come and go but never before have I had such a passionate love like this for an anime series.

2006-12-28, 19:33
Laputa: Castle in the Sky

2006-12-28, 20:40
By now, it's official, my number 1 favourite is Kanon (2006). I'm not even gonna wait until the series is finished :D Full Moon wo Sagashite falls to a very close 2nd place on my list.

2006-12-29, 11:07
my podium:

1. Hunter X Hunter (perfect)
2. One Piece (so funny and unusual)
3. Death Note (clever!...)

2007-06-11, 01:42
1. Fate Stay/Night ~ (dunno why I liked this one very much :heh: )
2. Kare Kano ~ (It's still funny for me after watching it several times and of course the manga must be included :) )
3. Rurouni Kenshin OVA (trust and Betrayal) ~ this one is a gem for me....
4. Grave of the fireflies ~ no comment..... :)

2007-06-11, 01:43
The Studio Bones produced RahXephon.

2007-06-11, 04:00

2007-06-11, 04:27
Full Metal Panic series and Evangelion close behind.

I'm obsessed with FMP though.

2007-06-11, 05:36
Princess Tutu is the anime Im most interrested in finding all episodes and watch them all again...XD

Wonder if ill ever find a personal favorite that has many episodes...well maybe Lucky star 0.0

2007-06-11, 06:42
School Rumble (Real school life comedy!!!)

2007-06-11, 08:48
Whenever there are threads like "hottest anime character", "cutest anime couple" and "you all time favorite anime" I have no idea, I find it extremly hard to think of only 1 thing I like the most. However I will give it a try.

I guess my all time favorite would have to be FLCL.
It was funny, brillant, and confused you just enough.
Plus it was packed full of great quotes!

2007-06-11, 13:40
Elfen Lied is my all time favorite. I also consider it my all time favorite show.

2007-06-11, 15:16
Outlaw Star. I dunno.. I just really like the story and characters! Not to mention I think it was the very first anime I watched in entirety and the first one I ever owned. That might have something to do with it too. ^.^

2007-06-11, 22:08
GTO (Onizuka) it was one of the first anime series i watched and loved.

2007-06-12, 00:05
I don't have a single favorite rather an all time unranked Top 5 system.

2007-06-12, 01:15
OMFG!!! I is addicted like hell to Bleach!!!! But close seconds are Fruits Basket and Death Note.

2007-06-12, 08:24
Monster, Evangelion, Kino no Tabi. I can't choose one.

2007-06-13, 06:32
Last exile is my only anime love, seriusy the begining and the ending are fabulus and the play where great even if the are a little to close to the first world wars battles whith zebeliners and motor planes

Mine would be still Heat Guy J and Speed Grapher : ) Though GH may take the title from Devil Man . The second season is what that counts

2007-06-14, 02:03
Elfen Lied. It was perfect

2007-06-14, 02:17
Onizuka, FMP just to name a few.

2007-06-14, 12:12
Can't decide >< Over 70 anime series to choose from! Umm...Ouran High School Host Club or Bleach

2007-06-14, 22:52
DRAGONBALL Z! Seriously. It was the first and my friend and I would go nuts over it. I haven't gone that nutty over any anime since.

2007-06-15, 23:49
<---------- Fate / Stay Night

woops, was it only supposed to be one? :P

2007-06-16, 00:11
my favorite of all time is Higurashi. Mystery, horror, interesting plot, kick ass characters and killer lolis.... what more could one ask for?

Kaioshin Sama
2007-06-17, 00:45
Ultimately it has become Legend of The Galactic Heroes/Heldensagen vom Kosmosinsel/Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu, whatever you want to call it, nothing can match its depth and epicness. It pretty much invalidates the oft held idea that series longer than 12 episodes can't be extremely good.

It also decides to forgo the easy path of killing off a cute girl to make you cry and goes the path of building up characters over the course of many many episodes and making them feel as close to real people as an anime ever could, and having them die or exit the spotlight in ways that never seem hacknyed or forced. It'll make you feel many different things as you watch it, like I said I can't think of anything else that approaches it in terms of depth.

2007-06-17, 06:29
DRAGONBALL Z! Seriously. It was the first and my friend and I would go nuts over it. I haven't gone that nutty over any anime since.

I'm witcha on that note...They'll never exist a time like the time me an my boys got into Dragonball Z...That's locked in history, "Oh the measures we went to to acquire the fansubs after season 1 ended on CN" :eyespin: ...Imagine guys AND girls in a room getting stoned loving Gohan 2 vs. Cell...Yeah people laff now (And I'm far beyond the confinds of simple action-anime), but the experience that gave us shonen beginners will last a lifetime...LMAO, I actually stalled a make-out session once back when to set the VCR so I wouldn't miss Goku's's touchdown on Namek :p...Heh, Don't worry,...I resumed the session thereafter :naughty:...

2007-06-17, 06:46
Honestly? Tekkaman Blade, Gundam Wing, Witch Hunter Robin, Full Metal Panic, Noir, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Gundam SEED Stargazer, Sola, Death Note, Initial D. Now, that's only a fraction of the collection of anime I have. I'm sure my favorites list will grow more and more.

2007-06-17, 07:06
Hmmm ... let's see:

GTO was cool ..
Banner of The Stars was very nice ...
and KOR (Especially the 2 Movies) was really touching ..

2007-06-17, 09:34
Close Call Between Full Moon Wo Sagashite And Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien....Yeah Im A Big Softy:p

2007-06-17, 14:01
Fushigi no umi no Nadia !

2007-06-17, 15:31
Saint Seiya for the impact it had on me on the eighties.
Akira wopuld be close too.

But the real number 1 is truly Maison Ikkoku, for the development.

Looks like no one mentioned Touch here, another great piece of work.

2007-06-17, 19:41
ok this is hard but I guess it's between fate stay night and darker than black

2007-06-17, 19:50
I'm pretty surprised people like Fate/Stay Night this much...IMO, if not for all of the stuff we could have googled, the anime was very lacking in and of itself. Aside from Saber, Archer, and Gilgamesh, we barely get any sliver of a personality out of any of the other servants.

Most of them basically came and went.

2007-06-25, 21:08
Hunter X Hunter

2007-06-25, 23:28
Man I hate things like this. I could probably list my favorite anime of each genre but clump them all together, it's kind of hard. I'll go with Cardcaptor Sakura for innocent romance, refreshing comedy, and a cute main character.

2007-06-26, 10:35
Yu Yu Hakushu!!!!!

2007-06-30, 07:55
Elfen Lied!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2007-06-30, 13:32
It's a close tie between Dragon Ball Z and One Piece.

Ice Climbers
2007-06-30, 14:57
Hmm, I would say Kanon 2006 or Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni

Miko Miko
2007-07-01, 11:04
Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni.

2007-08-03, 01:26
Death Note

2007-08-03, 01:59
Juuni Kokuki aka twelve kingdoms, berserk is a close second but the manga is better.

2007-08-03, 02:38
Ahh I'm not sure if I like Ouran or Hagaren better :] Hagaren is so deep and it really makes you think (but also has some humour and such <3) but Ouran is so random and funny n_~

2007-08-03, 02:55

Death Note :D

2007-08-03, 06:24
Mine is.... yes you guessed it... Elfen Lied! :D

2007-08-03, 07:22
Serial Experiments Lain for me~

2007-08-03, 07:48
Probably Air or Kanon 2006.
Currently it is Lucky Star. :D

2007-08-03, 16:30
Probably Claymore.

2007-08-03, 16:34
Mine is.... yes you guessed it... Elfen Lied! :D

Have I got a reputation for that yet?? >_>

2007-08-03, 23:46
Saint Seiya, principally the Sanctuary saga. Those fights against the gold saints are just epic ^^

2007-08-05, 02:02
Gundam Series^^ why ? i loved all about mecha....

2007-08-05, 02:51
oh wow a lot of new people......

really can't say, but elfen lied is the best produced series, everything that supposed to work worked, a pretty good piece of work.

most entertaining so far is lucky stars, well made show also.

2007-08-05, 06:54
Either School Rumble or Code Geass

2007-08-05, 20:59
Death Note, epic.

There's more than one---I could never choose between them.

My top fav's (in no particular order):

Full Metal Alchemist
Elfenlied (has some of my fav music of all time... bit gory though)
Ah! My Goddess
Full Metal Panic (no particular series---they're all good)

2007-08-06, 12:36
Well the anime I could watch and rewatch again and again and again would be the first anime I ever watched, Ginga Nagareboshi Gin. Good ol' days when a five year old watches anime with blood and gore, though the swedish dub hade removed the most "gory" things.

2007-08-07, 22:10
My favorite is Honey and Clover because it was so dramatic bittersweet infact I laughed at times where at others I cried. No one ended up with who they wanted except mayama.

My all time favorite anime? Samurai Pizza Cats! The most horribly americanized anime ever. The dubbing is really similar to MXC, which is really funny considering it aired about 20 years ago for little kids. XD If you've never seen it, you should check it out. It's really funny re-watching it, I didn't understand a lot of these jokes when I was 6. XD

My favorite has changed between now and my last post.

It is either GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka or Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.

Terrestrial Dream

Gaogaigar- the best super robot anime ever and the battle between EI-01 versus GGG was epic and it was probably one of the best battle. Still nothing beats Gaogaigar using Goldion Crusher (best weapon ever created).

2007-08-14, 02:20
My favorites:

Death Note

And maybe Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann.

2007-08-14, 04:55
School Rumble
One Piece
Code Geass

2007-08-14, 05:38
It keeps going back and forth between Kimi ga Nozomu Eien and Cardcaptor Sakura. No anime comes close, so these two takes dominance over the rest. I like them for the impact they had to me.

2007-08-14, 23:50
Out of 300 casted votes on anime titles the only one that got a 10 from me was

Hunter x Hunter

The runner ups with 9.5 would be

12 Kingdoms
Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu
Starship Operators

Of ongoing series potential candidates, if they keep it up and have a good finish, are

One Piece - If it manages to stay out of the bad filler trap.
Claymore - Good story line and characters so far.
Darker than Black - If it manages a very good ending.
HSD Kenichi - Hasn't let me down so far, but it is one anime that could easily go from good to bad if writers fails to meet my expectation.

Elfen Lied - Great story kinda sad to me
Ergo Proxy - Love the story but cant beat Elfen Lied
Love Hina - Cute
Trinity Blood - Cool

definetely detective conan, it is the first anime I watched that :

make me burst into laughter
cry like a baby(well i was 8 when I first watched it)
scared to death
ran back to house from school everyday just so that I can watch it on TV from op to ed
taught me courage, friendship, the bright side of the world and the dark side of the world

in asia, you don't need to be an otaku to know conan, it is one of the most widely known anime, it's fans range from 5 year to 85 year old (the little boy who used to be my next door watch it with his grandpa all the time and his grandpa loved it 0.0)
for those of you who think it is childish, it is NOT. in asian forums there are people with jobs discussing what the ending might be just like they were ten years ago (the manga raned for 16years and the anime raned for twelve years.) sure the mystery solving is not as difficult as kindaichi or detective accadamy Q, but it's main line plot is SOOOO exciting.

now for an image
this is a poster from a tear ago with characters that appeared atlease ten times
(my fav is haibara who is at most left, forth from bottom)

ppl in north america will probably never have the chance to grow up watching it, but i loved it for 7 years, ever since I first saw it.

If you were to choose ONE anime to get a friend hook what would it be.

2007-08-15, 07:31
I love the following animes:

Samurai X, Rave, Great Teacher Onizuka, Yu Yu Hakusho, Full Metal Alchemist, Alice Academy, Ranma 1/2, Death Note, Hellsing, Gungrave, Count of Monte Cristo, etc (and many many more!!)

But the only anime that caught me and made me an otaku to the extreme and the only anime that ruled my brain for months is..

It's the reason I'm here in this forum.

Hmm, this is pretty hard... But seeing as how I am able to rewatch FULL METAL PANIC! every summer and not get bored, I would say my favourite all time anime is FULL METAL PANIC!. ;) Coming at a close #2 would be Ouran High School Host Club.

Well, for many years I had Elfen Lied at the top of the high mountain, but a show I saw last year managed to top it, in a completely unexpected way too. Now, normally I'm not one for generic fantasy shit. A girl gets whisked away to an unknown land and has to discover for herself that she has innate abilities which she never would have known otherwise. Well, most people know where THOSE stories end up.

However, The Twelve Kingdoms somehow managed to break the mould. Based off a series of fantasy novels by Fuyumi Ono, it's a shame the anime was never quite completed (ended at 45 episodes, planned for more). One you get past the first five or so obligatory "dull introductory" episodes, the story really takes off and wraps you up like no other anime I've ever seen. The storytelling, more specifically the writing itself, is superb, and reflects very much on the original author's work. It is supported by a very strong Japanese vocal cast, led by veteran seiyuu Aya Hisakawa as the protagonist. The character development is also second-to-none; Youko becomes my favourite character for this reason. Animation quality and music are both above average.

...Well I could go on, but have a look for yourself if you're interested. I don't know enough people who have seen and/or can appreciate this show.

All-time favourite might be a bit extreme, but for the last year or so, One Piece has been my favourite show, achieving the incredible feat of going for over 350 episodes without getting boring. Second place goes to Haruhi, which managed to have similar levels of awesomeness in just 14 episodes.

Honorable mention: Dragonball. First manga I ever got addicted to, and was my favourite show for quite a while before I realised that One Piece was way better.

Wow it took a year for someone to post after mine...

Anyway, I saw Terra e... a short time ago and absolutely loved it. Great space opera with a great overall cast. I'm currently watching Air, and depending how the tragedy plays out in the end, it could be my all-time favourite.
