I was looking for a CD single from Sowelu and on Yesasia it had this comment:

Labelgate CD is a copyright protected CD. It cannot be played on Macintosh operation system, nor any PC without Internet ID authentication which is only available to the residents in Japan.

I don't live in Japan, so does this mean that this only works with Japanese audio systems? Or is it solely an issue with PCs? It would suck to buy a CD and not be able to play it.

It would suck to buy a CD and not be able to play it.You can still listen to the CD in a normal stereo but due to copy protection it might not play on your PC. It's nothing really important, all my copy protected CDs still play on my PC except one that my PC recognizes as a VCD.
