Gundam SEED DESTINY (Phase 2 Discussion)

Phase 2 is very very good episode indeed. It will drive you to an edge of your seat.


- Space war begins by an attack of EA's mirage-collided-ship Girty Lue commanded by Neo Roanoke to ZAFT's spaceships.
- An infiltration of EA's Dagger L mobile suits destroys several ZAFT's spaceships.
- Rey and Lunamaria are in their Zuku actions.
- Neo pilots his pink MA (Egzas, no official English name yet). He is very good.
- There are two newtype effects between Rey and Neo. Rey senses the presence of Neo's MA.
- There are many newtype-like bit attacks from Chaos Gundam and Egzas MA.
- Athrun saves Shinn once from three-on-one attack.
- The fight scenes between 3 stolen Gundams vs. Impulse Gundam and Blaze Zaku Phantom are stunning.
- Stellar stalls and abandons the fight due to some effect (may be drug) to her mind and body. The others two Gundams have to protect the stalled Gaia.
- Gaia breaks PLANT's wall and escapes, Chaos and Abyss follow. Impulse and Blaze Zaku Phantom are in pursuit while Neo's MA is hiding outside to escort the escape.
- Athrun and Cagalli land at Minerva in their Zaku Warrior. Cagalli says Athrun's real name in there. Lunamaria recognise that name.
- Minerva launches at last, very beautiful ship.

Do not miss this great episode and great animation.

Nice action-packed episode that the original SEED lacked for much of the series... All the chaos of three, four battles going on at once... Great ep indeed.

More points:

- Stellar's stalling is due to something that Auel said, since she was going off on her own to fight Shinn against orders... Can't hear exactly what Auel said, but it made Stellar retreat which is what he and Sting wanted.
- Athrun's pseudonym is revealed.
- Somehow, Talia Gladys and Dullindal's voices in their conversation reminds me so much of MSG... lol.
- And Neo Lorrnoke = evil Mu La Fraga. Though Rey sounds nothing like Creuset... More like a deeper Duo Maxwell.

Interesting ep! Just watched the anime....looks like I can pretty much guess how Athrun got Saviour Gundam later on.

Seems like Auel was saying die or something to Stellar, which makes her so tense up. Neo is.....ebil, but goood. Force Impulse seems a lot more formidable than Sword. Well, Athrun name got leaked out, so we can probably say his identity has been revealed. Luna seems extremely shocked to hear Athrun name though, though I pretty much doubt she really know about him. Next ep, the ZAFT chairman is talking to Athrun, which makes Cagalli tense up instead.

I bet 100 bucks that Saviour is on board Minerva!

She got freaked out because Auel mentioned dying. MAJORLY freaked out.

And I really enjoyed this episode. The action was great, the Silhouette exchange was quick and great. The only thing I dislike is that the new Daggers seem to have reverted more to a "Kill me Now"-face like the original GM's have. The Dark Dagger L's were very cool though - they really wrecked havoc!

The animation was of high class, but it was done partly by another animation team this time, right? I can't read the credits but just like SEED in episode 4 or so the characters look just a slighty bit different.

As mentioned, Auel said Stellar can die if she doesn't want to go with the plan... But he also said "I'll tell Neo farewell for you!".

You should spend some time reading posts in Phase 1 Discussion thread (http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=21802), much has been discussed there on your observation. The faces of Cosmic Era people could not be changed obviously in just three years from C.E. 70. Try to familiarise yourself with them, the Cosmic Era people :D :D and enjoy SEED DESTINY.

Download Phase 2 RAW and scream. There are many things you can discuss such as Stellar's behaviour, Gundam fight scenes, mirage collide things, masked man, pinky MA, infiltration, space warfare, weaponry, explosion, etc.

A few posts have already been wasting without any relation to Phase 2 so you should stay on course.!!

Neo's MA is amazing; he owned 3 MS in 2 seconds. Those gun pods are upgraded with beam weaponry instead of projectile guns like those on the Mobius Zero.

Her Zaku was damaged when it fell under the debris last ep... So I guess the engine got busted... Nice plot device to make this a Shinn & Rey vs Neo fight though.

Luna's zaku going down might be due to the plot...like lettin her have the chance to meet Athrun :naughty: and led him and cagali to gilbert?

Or maybe due to the explosion in ep 1 that cause the thrusters to malfunction?

Or by chance it really overheated and go along with the meeting with Athrun?

The three stolen gundam pilots probabyl are druggies like the 3 in seed 1. Naturals cant be that skilled with a gundam. But these guys show alot of good teamwork compared to the original 3.

Naturals can indeed be that skilled - just look at Edward Harrelson or Lowe for example.

But those are with custom Natural OS:es, which the ZAFT units probably don't have. They are most probably druggies but it would be interesting if they weren't.

And yeah, it was too bad that the idiot trio couldn't have better teamwork - if they did and it wasn't a fictional show they would probably have nailed Kira and Athrun since their units were built to be used in conjunction (Raider to ferry Calamity around in the atmosphere and Forbidden to guard it as well as swerve its beam weapons), but they didn't play along very nicely, fortunately for Kira and Athrun.

A lot of people agreed with your impression and speculated the same thing, but judging from the happy happy nature of Seed (Fllay's death was a happy moment~ XD), Stellar won't end up the same fate as Four.

I know that having scythes would make for a great accessory in the toy department, but in battle why would anyone want to use a scythe? A laser sword I can understand, but a scythe? If they had given the scythe a laser edge instead of just pure metal, that would have made a little more sense.......well, carrying a scythe around doesn't seem natural in a battle field.....

Bewarned, I am not in a very good state of mind and I'm just going to rant angrily/passionately for most part in this post ._.;.
I also hope you don't mind me not using spoiler tags because if you came into this thread you should expect phase 2 discussion, if you haven't watched it or won't watch it withotu subs then don't come in, is what I say.

I really don't know what to say about the newtype flash thing. I can't say I know a lot about Gundam seeing as SEED is the only Gundam series I've watched, but I do remember Fukuda did say that Mwu and Cruz (I don't like Creuset :x) having Newtype flash thingies is because they were the last 2 Newtypes or something.
Either he's gone back on that (I won't discount that as a possibility, really), or... the obvious alternative is that Rey and Neo are Mwu and Cruz -_-;;;;;;;;;;;
Neo is also very pwn in a Mobile Armour. Reminds me of someone...
I'm going to run out of sweat to make sweatdrops with, honestly speaking.... Oh well, I'll probably get over this, I bet they do this all the time for such shows :p

Also, while it did hit in that Stellar was REALLY scared of death, somehow, I thought it was very awkward and didn't fit in. Then again, you can't expect the same kind of reaction from them that you'd expect from normal humans.... Still, I felt a bit "uh, that's weird" when Aule said "You're gonna die here" (Or somethign like that) and she went all O_O and whimpy the rest of the episode. Stellar sqeuaks. I think it's funny...

We hear Talia's voice more in this ep. I don't really like it. It hardly fit and it reminds me of the dub voice for Murrue we have for SEED in Singapore (I don't know if it's the same as the one for the US. Anyone watches SEED on TVMobile, you'd know what I'm talking about). She doesn't sound commanding enough and there seems to be a bit of a pause before she speaks which is just... meh. I'm being picky here, though.

I didn't hear much of Toshihiko Seki's voice (as Rey) here though, but it was good. I think 90% of the time he said "Shin" though. Rey sure hates talking.
And hearing Maaya Sakamoto angry was pretty nice.

Oh yeah, I want to kick Cagalli. Since when DID she get such a weak image? (Perhaps because she hasn't had that much war experience and whatever battle exp she has had has worn off by now after being "inactive" for so long?) George tells them that he believes that soon a "Newtype" of humans will come to existence, and that the reason Coordinators exist is to help "Coordinate" the true next evolution of mankind.
So it's pretty much Naturals -> Coordinators -> Natural Druggies -> Seed Coordinators -> Newtypes now, eh? I was under the impression that the Seed Coordinators were on par with the Newtypes back in Gundam Seed, though. :o

Have you seen it written down somewhere? It was a hard to hear sentence, but I think he said something like 'Ore wa tsure no Alex Dinou', meaning something along the lines of 'I'm Alex Dinou, accompanying her'.

What do you think ZAFT thinks about Athrun? We never saw what ZAFT in general thought about Athrun because he deserted them and so on.
Furthermore, I do feel kind of sorry for Cagalli because she'll have to deal with the many ex-Orb people who are dissatisfied with Uzumi Nala Attha's choice, even thoguh they don't understand it. I think Shinn is one of these people.

Someone said he lost his memory...or he could very well be a clone (wasn't Mask Guy from last season a clone?). We already have a Lacus clone...this is truly becoming a parody of EPISODE 2: ATTACK OF THE CLONES :D

While we all hate Hisashi Hirai's designs, one thing is that with his current designs, main characters don't look that bad even if drawn by people from other small studios... probably because his eye style draws attention to the eye which looks more vibrant because of the way it is.

Heh, I bet you aren't just able to do that (that is, the gently detach head thing), but you probably can just change eye and hair colou plus hair shape and get another character.

It's not an Archangel-class ship like the Archangel and Dominion, it's a new type of ship called Gardi Ruu or something like that, but it does look like it "evolved" from the Archangel, just like the Minerva.

The Gardi Ru has like numerous missiles launchers, 6 beam turrets, and perhaps some other weapons that haven't been shown yet. On the start up screen of the Minerva in phase 2, we can clearly see the armaments of the Minerva consist of:

2x double beam cannon turret
1x triple barrel rail gun
CIWS
Missiles Launchers

Even the Archangel outclasses the Minerva!

Aww...if only Kira was there. He would have done something to Chaos bits as well as Neo's bits. Seems like Shinn has a long long way to go. On the other hand, Kira is the ultimate coordinator, so maybe it'll take time for Shinn to reach Kira's standard.
Well doubt Kira would have been able to do much against Chaos' bits either inside Plant without risking damaging the station, more than Shin maybe, but those suckers would be hard to hit.

Most of the time its due to different animation directors in every episodes, because these are the guys who check for consistencies within the animation, as well as draw the main frames from which the other animators would fill in. So if these guys draw funny, the rest of the animation will probably look funny.

Then again, there are some "temporary" frames in the episode I think... Especially in that scene with Dullindal walking around in the base, where the character drawings remind me of someone from Ep 7 of Samurai 7 (the one with all those 7-year-old drawings). I guess this is due to the need to make the deadline... So I guess these will be fixed in the DVD version too, like those in the original SEED.

The Earth faction has almost always had the "Big Ships, Bigger Guns" mentality in Gundam whilst the space colony faction has preferred MS carrying capacity.

Minerva is well enough armed as it is, its main purpose is to ferry around mobile suits. And Minerva is obviously from the Archangel, just look at the side catapults, the front, the wing and such. Eternal has the spikes and stuff everywhere.

From early info of the suits its a way to resupply the MS's energy from a long distance away. So I guess since Impulse lacks energy they need to resupply it by launching the Minerva to space (I guess they can't use it if its tucked away in a colony). Its supposed to be the replacement for nuclear energy which is now outlawed. And it fits with the new GUNDAM acronym as well ("Generation Unrestricted Network Drive Assault Module" as opposed to "Generation Unsubdued Nuclear Drive Assault Module")

Ok, you know what though? The nostalgia in this episode totally RUINED it for me! I mean COME ON! Can we have even a TINY bit of originality from Seed? Ok lets see we have:



1) 3 druggies who constantly bicker in their Gundams

2) Earth forces spaceship based on the exact same model as the ship Ramius commanded (forgot the name). Oh but wait, now with camoflauge! :dots:

This has been mentioned before... But anyway, the Zaku's were damaged after the debris fell on it last episode... That technician mentioned it before they took off that there might be some problems because of that.

Seed Destiny mode was just a joke by wao. Newtype is a term from the old school UC Gundam series; the main characters back then were uber-godly "Newtypes" as opposed to being uber-godly "Seed Coordinators" (like Kira and Athrun). Not all Newtypes have the same level of strength, but generally these are Newtype characteristics: have pyschic precognition (the flash you see with Mwu La Fraga), can control remote weaponary with their minds, and can sense other strong Newtypes (which you probably have seen in both Seed and Destiny). Back then in the UC timeline, the Newtypes were supposed to be the next evolution of humans.

well, from what I understand, it's just a long range energy recharge system (no more power plug thing in SEED1). So I guess without Minerva, Impulse is just like a normal GAT-X Gundams and other MS which depend on some energy battery, which can deplete fast with PS armor and some other high power consumption equipment. But when it stays within a certain radius near Minerva it can constantly receive energy from the ship so it's virtually unlimited energy. I guess that puts it at an upper hand against the three stolen Gundams, since the Earth ship doesn't have this long range energy recharge system.

In terms of experience and skills, Kira still have the advantage here over Shinn. Oh wait....don't tell me they can easily construct that energy transferring system!?

Since Murrue's definitely got to appear somewhere in the show (why else would she be in the OP AND ED?). And then when they do show Mu I'd go all sentimental because he definitely didn't deserve to die while Angst Kings magically survived because they'd have to make a season 2. And I feel so sorry for Murrue! I really want to know how she finally dealt with the thing once and for all. But if they're going to make her go ga-ga over Andrew Bartfeld, I'll kill the producers. Perhaps they could introduce a twist (gasp) and make the Impulse so energy-draining that while we all think it seems like virtually limitless power osurce while the Impulse is around the Minerva... actually it's killing the ship. :o It would be kind of overpowered (well, IMO) if the Impulse could just hang around the Minerva and happily maintain power and the Minerva also happily not losing loads of power.

Minerva was probably built to transport all the gundams so if it can support all of them it probably won't be drained by just Impulse

I read somewhere that battleships are powered by fusion engines, so it's unlimited power source I guess... though I don't know how it will affect the power output level of Minerva... I think the only things that can possibly affect a ship's power output are extremely powerful beam cannons...

No one knows how CE spaceships are powered... Though I think the timeline would confirm that SEED does NOT use fusion power (otherwise they wouldn't beed to use fission power for Earth's power plants which the N-jammers affected...).

Well, the Strike Rouge IWSP might remind you of Freedom since the IWSP pack was inspired by the original Freedom design I believe. I have this funky picture here:

Yeah, the original concept for Freedom was to have it be a combination of the three Strike modes. But Fukuda didn't like the designs that Okawara came up for it, so he approved a winged mobile suit instead.

Though the design for IWSP did come out during the series unlike other MSV designs.

Notice that in the promo they showed the Minerva all dark with the lights all dimmed out.

I've also always hated the stupid placement of CIWS in the torso - it makes absolutely no sense if you can place them in the head since it's probably much easier for the head to lock on to incoming missiles than to swerve the goddamn torso.

The problem with that is the head is the weakest, easiest to damage, most unstable part of a MS...unless the head has a Nazi-helmet like design (Kampfer, Zaku II custom, Rick Dom II, Gebera Tetra, Geara Doga, Jagd Doga, Sazabi, etc), the MS head will shake too much from vibration and movements.

I really hate the Mu clone. He was one of the few characters that I liked in Seed and now they make him a clone or make him lose his memory, whatever. What's up with that if your goning to kill a character note keep him dead. Otherwise what is the point of him ever dying in the first place. For GOD sakes they share the same voice actor for crying out loud.

We know he is related in some way to Mwu but we can't without any proof say it is him. The obvious part is that he is definately a newtype because he can control the Exus, and newtypes are exclusive to the Flaga family(for now).

Some might think the Impulse looks a bit whimpy and fragile with all those parts. But damn.. watching Shin charge up at Stellar with the huge Darth Maul lightsaber in the first couple of minutes was totally crazy.. "that's gonna hurt.."

I've also been wondering before whether or not Shin is also a "seed" carrier.. but then.. after watching episode 2, i'm not sure anymore. In fights rather than using superior coordinator abilities, he relies on that Gundam Impulse radar thing that warns him if there's someone in back of him. Perhaps another meaning to the book of many "Impulse" name reasons.

Excellent episode. Things just seem far more chaotic here than the first SEED was.. which is always a good thing IMO. In fact, I would say it has the most chaotic start of any Gundam I've seen. The action scenes were fast paced.. and very reminiscent of the latter parts of the first series which I loved so much.

Its also nice to see that the battles were pretty even. Even Stellar was putting up a pretty good fight with the main character, Shin.

Only a couple of issues -

1.) The newtype flash business - I hope it stays like it did in the first series.. just at a flash. I do NOT want endings like Victory, Zeta, or CCA. I was initially hoping that it would be absent completely, since the director stated that Fraga and Kruuze were the last two newtypes.. but it seems he's changed his mind. Either way hope their newtype powers are kept in check.

2.) Stellar - She starts running away as soon as she's told that she could die?! wtf? Something seriously screwed up going on... quite possibly the effect of the human CPU modification thing.

Either way.. two thumbs up from me.. can't wait for episode 3.

The characters are interesting and unique, seems like there is alot of room for character and relationships development, even drama craziness of Seed to a higher level =D

That was the problem with the beginning of Seed...it was like a turned-base strategy game: Kira shoots, misses, moves to the left, turn over. Athrun shoots, misses, turn over. Yzak shoots, missues, yells a lot, turn over. On the other side of the battlefield, Mwu shoots, misses, curses his incompetence as a Newtype, turn over. Deakka shoots, misses, feels ashamed that he sucks, turn over. Kira shoots, hits Yzak's leg (XD XD XD), turn over...you get my point. :D

That's nice... but do I look like I give a fuck? As I had stated before... we are ALL NEW TO THIS. We aren't perfect in any way. Our first episode was rather bumpy and all the kinks had to be worked out in V2. Enoding was a bitch at first, but we found a better way to encode! That has since been done. Certainly an action packed episode, few things annoyed me first off the GM cannons do they really need to use that design? Second isn't the character supposed to have the newtype flash first and then look at the direction, not the other way arround (I could be wrong on this).
Thrid as I feared the entire docking procedure isn't fragile. Fourth pink explosion in a computer used animation Gundam don't fit and shouldn't be there as the explosions look way too bright (compare this with any of pre SEED Gundams). Fifth apparently the rule that Gundams can only damage each other still exists in this show. Sixth if you're going to show some shattered shards coming from the shields make sure you actually see the shield damaged instead of being intact.

As a final note I'm concerned about the characters Rey Za Burrel and Neo Lorrnoke, they are hinting on a relation between them and Rau Le Creuset and Mwu La Fraga, infact the situation is the same but in opposite. Now I like Mwu La Fraga as a character but really if they're dead let them stay dead instead of hints of cloning of whatever. If true, Stella's fear is meaningless as this is turning into Dragonball Z where dead is completly meaningless as you can be brought back as a clone.

And a question does Chaos Gundam have funnels or is it are simply computer controlled like INCOMS without the wires?

And I like the new Dagger designs personally, except that their heads are half-GM half-Daggers now... Hopefully they won't make the full transition.

And the cannons are mounted more like they are on Calamity than how they are on a GM Cannon.

The early Gundam shows used pink for explosions in space... The practice was stopped after Char's Counterattack though.

Seed just revived it. Anyway, the scientific explanation might be something like this: in the atmosphere (or space colony), the oxygen in the air allows for combustion and the orange explosion comes out. But in space, there is a vacuum, so when things get destroyed, the explosions are not due to oxygen combustion but perhaps due to other chemicals reacting, so it wouldn't be orange. So an arbitrary color for this turned out to be pink...

No, they just used regular orange explosions, which totally discarded that explanation. But like I said, SEED revived it.

The best thing about Seed and Seed Destiny is that it looks like Sunrise finally started making Military-capable Mobile Suits again... Duel, Strike, Buster, Freedom, Calamity and all of the new models in Destiny would actually be usable in an actual war, either as special forces units or as commander units, unlike the MS from Wing or other more recent Gundam series...

You really have to remember the edge of bipedal combat models over any form of conventional weaponry... 08th MS team showed it pretty well during the jungle fighting scenes and the city fighting scenes. Bipeds have a huge edge when it comes to manoeuvrability and polyvalence (Zaku II and the Leo are perfect examples of this), and the flyer models (like Freedom and Justice) could probably replace entire fighter squadrons on their own, due to their plating and firepower.

But you have to look in american/canadian mecha in order to see the true supremacy of bipeds over conventional weaponry, namely in Battletech and Heavy Gear.

Well, we're going pretty off-topic but I do believe that bipedal mecha are impractical when it comes to terrestrial warfare (space is another thing), I prefer BaCUE:s :D

On land I would believe that combined arms would be a much more effective strategy - after all, tanks present a much smaller target and can be armed with similar weaponry. It would be a far superior defensive weapon compared to a mobile suit, in my opinion.

Ah well, let's just let this one slide for now - debates like this can go on forever :)

They can pass trough security doors like it was childplay. They fly trough space, look at Torii, it flies with gundams. Just make alots of them and swarm any facility you want to capture. And if they get caught, they will self denied themself they just did a crime, thus erasing any lead to you. ^^

As for Ep 2. Just got done watching it since Anime-Kingom owns my soul.

The Minerva looks VERY cool and the EA mirage capable ship is as well. Two bad-ass ships in the two episode.

BTW, it may just be me but it almost looks like that back portion of the minerva could be a ship capable of detaching from the minerva itself? I dunno. Maybe it's just the way it's elevated that it appears that way to me.

I'm wondering if Stellar or all 3 of the EA trio may have already died and then they were modified and brought back to life, like robocop or something. Maybe that's why Stellar was so freaked out by the death remark.

Well I hate them because the GM type heads doesn't make any sense, all sides have completly new mecha design not upgraded or expanded previous designs.

Well, a head-redesign isn't anything massive and cold have been done for a number of reasons. A GM has a different head than a RX-78 Gundam and a GM Command has a different head and then the GM Sniper II has a different head as well... And so on.

However, all logic does say that the five new Gundam units should have mono-eye sensors since that's what ZAFT originally uses and they also use them on the Zakus which are produced in conjunction with the Gundam units.

It would be more difficult both when it comes to spare parts and maintenance to have two entirely different sensory systems.

As for Ep 2. Just got done watching it since Anime-Kingom owns my soul.

The Minerva looks VERY cool and the EA mirage capable ship is as well. Two bad-ass ships in the two episode.

BTW, it may just be me but it almost looks like that back portion of the minerva could be a ship capable of detaching from the minerva itself? I dunno. Maybe it's just the way it's elevated that it appears that way to me.

I'm wondering if Stellar or all 3 of the EA trio may have already died and then they were modified and brought back to life, like robocop or something. Maybe that's why Stellar was so freaked out by the death remark.

I think Gilbert knows a lot more than he's letting on to believe. Remember how back in SEED, Cruiset & Azrael had secretly exchanged info with each other. While it was never explained, both of them mentioned it to a point. My guess is, Gilbert gave info to Neo that ZAFT was creating new Gundam units, which is probably his way of making an excuse to start a 2nd war with the Earth Alliance. Remind you of someone? :hmm: Also the way Gilbert looks at Rey in the first episode when he salutes him, may also mean there's a connection between the two of them.

At this point of the 3 EA pilots, Stellar is the only one that's messed up in the head. I remember an article from when the characters for Destiny were announced that when Stellar gets pissed or something, her piloting abilities increase, perhaps SEED mode? At this point, it's safe to assume that none of the EA pilots are druggies like the first three, and are probably artificially enhanced Newtypes or something along those lines.

I expected ZAFT ships (and the Nazca is like thier Musai now, right?) to be guarding the outside of the PLANT and I got to see my favorite part of Gundam battles, ship to ship battles ^__^

Buster was too, but Dearkka has a zaku gunner one. I think the reason why Duel and Buster aren't in use was probably what Cagalli was saying to Gilbert. That the official treaty banned Zaft from using Orb developed weapons (I.e. the remaining Gundams) and that the Earth Alliance was complaining to Cagalli and saying Orb was helping Zaft to build up its forces when it was because some Orb people defected to Zaft and were helping them.

So Duel and Buster may have even been retuned to Orb as terms of the treaty. Or Zaft has hidden them away ;)

Did anyone see the first two episodes of Destiny yet? It's exciting, especially with hints of who is going to show up from the original series. The new themesong sounds nice, and the theme sequence pretty much confirms the apearance of Kira (With him fighting the new main character Shin) and Lacus. I don't like the new guys as much, or maybe I'm just too attached to the old cast. I wasn't too fond of the new main character Shin(uninspired design, looking almost identical to Kira minus the hair color) and his motives in the seires so far (fighting out of anger and grief due to loss of parents from a battle of the previous war) and he probably will fight Kira sometime (as suggested in the theme sequence and the fact that Freedom was the one who killed his parents accidently during the fight at Orb). There's a new guy with te mask (Gundam series trademark) but he looks exactly like Krueze, with a different mask...What I find interesting is that the ending sequence, there are TWO Lacus's...the end sequence is like the original serie's first ending sequence, and Lacus appears two times, once in the back right after Shin, and once at the very end with her and Kira embracing....BTW, I think the seriess so far is far bloodier than the original, showing body parts detached from the body and all that (Shin's sister).

Feel free to reply with your thoughts and comments (like Lacus appearing twice at the end sequence) and of course, spoilers, as the series unfolds :)

Even there, if you see the particular painting scheme and head module of a Gundam-type, you are likely to freak out if you're a average Cyclop pilot (shown often in the UC universe).

Yeah. And? They are also inferior to a Zaku. It would be stupid to continue using Duel or do custom upgrades for one machine when you can just take a mass-produced machine instead for ease of maintenance and everything.

I too realized it when I saw it there is some kind of beam coating on the new shields, it's sort of like the in between of a beam shield and a conventional shield.
You can also see it when they ram with the shields(zaku in phase 1, and impulse ramming abyss)

Those were good points about Yzak, I forgot he's supposedly in some type of council position now. Since it is "peace-time" it makes sense that the gundams would be assigned to Minerva on it's moon patrol and that Yzak wouldn't be a part of the unit since he has other duties.

One would assume if war breaks out again (Which seems likely since war always breaks out again in Gundam shows) that then he could be re-deployed to a more combative role and thus wind up with a new Gundam later in the shows run.

The Zaku one just seems so weak compared to the Gundam ones, but that's only because I'm judging it from Green Zaku that Athrun was using and it's shield was blown by Auel's Abyss. Maybe Rey's and other Zaku's shield are stronger. Shrugs.

One good way to take down Impulse is to shoot the Sihouette pack when it is changing equipment. Then impulse will only have rifle, shield and small anti-arm knives. It seems taking a long time to assemble all pieces in the air, too.

The long assembly time the first time around is probably because kids love combining mecha (just take a look at the majority of the old super robot shows - and the new ones as well), just to showcase it entirely - it's quick in the intro, although they will probably launch it in a complete version with a Silhouette in the future.

The Zaku's are considerably stronger than the first generation GAT-X machines and the new Gundam's are a step above even them. Justice, Freedom, Regenerate and Providence are probably more powerful due to the N-Jammer Cancellers and Freedom is probably faster and more maneuverable but Chaos and Force Impulse could probably give it a run for its money.

Soon completed Gundam Seed now, was just wondering is Kira and Asuran in this new Gundam Seed Destiny aswell ? Is Kira the main character and does this continue on the story or doesnt it have anything to do with the old story at all ?
