is there an anime for it?
It has an animated commercial made by Shonen Sunday, but it's too new to have spawned a TV series.
You can find the animation link here: http://websunday.net/theater/
love it! at least the little that i've gotten to read. oh. thanks for bringing it to us snoopy! heh.
Honestly, MAR didn't really hold my attention until right about where we've currently released, and then chapter 29 nearly caused me to have a heart attack (a profoundly " :eyebrow: " moment), but then it recovered. Now I'm seriously looking forward to each chapter. In fact, it ruined my day finding out that Anzai's taking a break next week... no Alviss for me...

I've heard good things about Alviss, you hav any pics?
Not currently scanned in. He's pretty much just returned in the current chapters, but he's getting lots of scenes. And he has a new outfit.

hmm. can anyone explain to me what's it all about? just a short summary will do :D
Lesse... Toramizu Ginta has dreams about a fairytale land for years, then one day he's given an opportunity to travel to that land later revealed to be named 'Mar-Heaven' (there's these 2 dots over the 'a' in 'Mar'... but I can't seem to get the forum to register them when I type it in... :/). He goes around, finds a mysterious weapon ARM (all weapons are known as 'ARMs', also with the two dots, they're magic... things, lots of different kinds, that do stuff like create fire or summon giant beasts). He finds companions, fights an evil group of warriors calling themselves the 'Chess no Koma', and generally just messes around until volume 4 ^_^U
Um, I recommend that if you try it, you give it 2 volumes before you pass jugdement, 'cause there are some " :eyebrow: " moments in the beginning.

Personally i like MAR better than Flame Of Recca, the ninja thing just wasn't for me. But then we got the dumb Ginta, who's a total laugh and along with jack who's even a greater laugh than Ginta. Then you got Dorothy, the hot witch. Hahhahha ^_^. Overall it's a great manga and i've lost places to dl the scans so im stuck getting Vizs copy of it.

chapter 107 is out, its going to be the nanashi's show.

I somehow found Galian's motivations for joining the Chess rather weak...you'd think that since this was Luberia's former Boss, he'd have stronger principles rather than just be immediately blinded by the Chess' offer of power. All that foreshadowing with Nanashi seemed to be diminshed because of this, and thus their (destined) battle just becomes another normal tournament match, when it could have been more.

i kinda agree with you there, but i'm still hoping that they would add more reasons to it like maybe galian join the chess to avoid any bloodshed on his comrades at that time when peta asks him coz he's weaker than peta

i like MAR very much...
however, i think it will fail in the US market.
there really isnt this kind of audience for it. it targets the middleschool aged kids, and i dont see them buying much manga at the store.
this is honestly one of my absolute favriote series right now. plus i really connect with Ginta. i craped my pants when i saw the first episode. cuz i pulled a stunt like his "holy heaven thunder" incident back when i was like 10 when me and my buddies used to rp on the bus ride to school. just insted it was more like me standing up on the bus seat yelling "i have the fire sword!" holding my hands above my head like im holding one.... and i got bad grades like ginta.... and i had like no endurance... and i have long blonde hair o.O;; kinda creepy... just i have good vision ^.^ even got a cute friend to defend me ^.^

I've only read the first 4 volumes for this.
Whats Halloween's basic arms? When him and the skull masked guy were slaughtering that town on vol.3 only the skull mask one was doing any attacks, Halloween just stood there.

The 6th Battle has began in the manga releases, and it's funny how Alan, despite being the strongest member of team MAR, has the same weakness as Ranma! Also, Shaton looks like Pano (remember her?) wearing a "neko-mimi" costume, tank tops and all! :heh:

Halloween, you mean Pumpkin Head?
His basic attacks are regular ranged magic attacks from those Arms and several magical generated elemental arms.
Anymore would be spoiler, since the scanlated hasn't reach so far till the current raws of Ginta vs Phantom.

Ginta vs. Phantom...already? So does this means the manga series is about to end? Or will this be like FoR where we thought Recca vs. Kurei in the tournament would be the big climax and all...
Lemme guess: NO, the manga will NOT end with Ginta and Phantom's battle...there's still the Queen (vs. Dorothy) and the unseen "King" (probably a "Mouri Kouran"-type who wants to gain power at the cost of annihilating the world and such...) :heh:
MAR reminds me of a freind of mine who loves final fantisy, the main charicter is lust like him in almost every way....... its scary.
Over all I engoy this manga and would recombend it to others

Can anybody confirm if the manga had already ended in Japan? Something like in chapter 161 or so? I've been seeing this discussed in IRC...

Ginta goes back to Earth... and the series ends with a certain catch-phrase.
He gets a kiss from Dorthy before-hand though

Well at least there aren't that many chapters left to *uhrm* be scanlated. :heh:

Is it just me, or does the final 1/5th of the manga feels ridiculously incredibly RUSHED? Battles were ludriciously shortened, there was little to no emotional impact on the supposedly emotional scenes as they were just skimmed over, reused plot cliches, among other things. It's like the supposed final dungeon/showdown of the manga was forced to be covered in just 10 chapters or so.
If i'm right, sometimes the company that publishes the manga, forces the author to end the manga earlier than the author wanted to. This was actually the first manga that I ever bought and it's my favorite. I even made a text-based RPG for it at http://z11.invisionfree.com/Beautiful_World/index.php?

that's cool that you made an RPG and that might be true about the author but the anime has a lot more in it i know even every on goning to tokyo for a whail

I just finally finished reading the entire manga series (15 volumes), and I tend to agree that the chapters towards the end feel a bit rushed. There was little or no "anticipation" leading up to the "final battles", and the supposed "plot twist" is extremely cliched.
At any rate, it was a pretty entertaining manga. now if the anime series would just get the hell back o track and finish animating it! :heh:
Oh, and I was rather surprised at the "ecchiness" towards the last few volumes. Didn't think the author of Flame of Recca would "stoop so low"! Not that I blame him, since topless Dorothy with nip shots rules! hehehe :D

so when is the new series for Mar coming out?
I was very suprised as well, Shadowclone. Notice (I'm new to the forum, so I'm not sure what consitutes as a spoiler, but this doesn't feel like one :p) that her dress is divided on her left side? I went back and tried to track down when exactly it happened, but from what I saw it just magically appeared at the start of the fight. Perhaps his fans or the people in charge wanted more fan-service?
I didn't mind it at all :p. I wouldn't be complaining if there was a bit more of her like that in the sequel.
Hrm, I wonder how they're going to do the scene on the anime? Just convienent camera angles or pieces of wrecked clothing? Hrrmmmm...

did alviss get the zombie curse off?

Yes Alvis and that other Chess no koma knight tattoos disappeared .After Alvis used the arm he received from Ginta, that Ginta received back on that ghost ship. There basically was a key hole in phantoms chest. That dezombied phantom.
But the last few volumes as stated by someone last page ago were rlly rushed. ANd MAR omega even worse. And has crappy main characters, and an unorginal story. Like fake arms cmon now. But other characters from the original Mat make appearances like Bambo, Alvis, and that witch, and Nanami I believe if thats his name.

I was shocked to find MAR Omega only four volumes. I mean from 15 to 4... Way too rushed there.

That last fight between Alviss and the originator of the zombie tattoo sucked. Wasnt much of a fight as all he did was insert the key and turn and a whole bunch of useless dialog, I mean he didnt even resist.

Which the anime did better. Overall, the anime did a lot better than the manga in many areas. Sometimes, it went a bit too slow, but the anime was a huge improvement.

I have to check the rest of the anime out. I never did find the box set for this show in any stores. Didnt really want to watch it Toonami.com as I could not stand the english voices for the show and just didnt like all those pauses.
Just finished the manga and now i find out that there was an anime >.< Well at least the manga didnt bore me although it wasnt that great either.... mainly because there was almost no drama or suspense during the whole story. I mean the bad guys (chess) simply popped up and then get owned as fast as they appeared without any character development... how come the queen get owned in the same chapter she appears and the evil mastermind behind everything lasted even less -.-

Hmm... I liked Rolan. He was cool. Oh, and Dorothy was awesome. Alviss was pretty cool too.
Most of the other characters didn't do much for me.
I finished this series a few weeks ago... and the biggest problem was that yes, after the final tournament and Phantom's "official" defeat, the storyline became waaaaay too rushed.
That, and Dorothy had to lose Ginta! At least Snow had her counterpart of Koyuki... but poor Dorothy, not being able to know of Ginta after he and his father left (though I guess the connecting dreams between Snow and Koyuki stopped... I haven't gotten the entire way through OMEGA so I don't know if they ever connect again)
But still, not a bad little shounen series overall. The tournament bit sort of reminded me of DBZ and YYH, but at least this series didn't drag out forever

Omega is horrible... The characters are fine, I guess, but the setting and story is horrid... It was really rushed...
If you feel that the story after Phantom's defeat is rushed in the manga, you should definitely watch the anime, which does a lot better everywhere.
Omega really is failed... Not only the art, but the story is bad too IMO...
Speaking of the original MAR, Dorothy is still my number 1 character...
