Well I saw 3x3 Eyes the anime for the first time last week and loved it. So I ordered the first three 3x3 Eyes manga from Darkhorse. What I want to know is, is there a website out there that will tell me what chapter Darkhorse is up to compared to the Japanese manga and how many books will be released? I can't find any up to date information anywhere.
Thx
Go to the Darkhorse website then. They seem to be releasing 3x3 at a faster rateb than before. I think they are up to about vol 5 of the manga. 3x3 eyes manga has 40 volumes, so they still have a way to go.
i have vol 7, which should be the latest american release .... and there's 33 volumes left to go, so they'll be at it for a while.

Hang on in there until Volume 12 at least, its a hell of a ride after that! :D By volume 18/19 you'll realise how great a series it can be.
Meeeh...it feels like they're just going round in circles over and over and over again, Yakumo's SLOOOOOOOOOOOWLY getting stronger, Benares keeps cropping up over and over again, they just keep missing whatever it is they're after, etc, etc. I haven't lost interest yet, but it's starting to get a bit repetitive. I can't imagine how Takada managed to keep this going for 40 whole volumes.
i already know..... i have some scans of it about into vol 16 or 17, and the story is excellent.
even so i still buy the darkhorse version for handy reading when a computer isn't.... (like in the bathroom or in a car one hand on the wheel the other propping the book open and one eye on the road and one on the book)

Yeah the story lost its way a bit before Volume 12 but give it time, the later volumes are truly excellent!
Oh don't worry, I'm still following the sazanquest people. And I'm still enjoying it, I just wish the mangaka would find more original ways to prolong the story instead of Benares, Benares, Kaiyanwang, fight random monster, Benares, Benares, Benares ad nauseam. How many times are they going to keep chasing that dude from vol 18 all the way to vol 40? I mean, REALLY!
I'm just wondering how old I'll be when the whole series finally gets translated. XD
I first saw the anime sometime when I was like 10 maybe? Something like that.. Ever since I've really been wanting to check out the manga but eh.. 40 volumes.. Hm. I think I'll wait a little while longer before I start picking it up. Maybe I'll wait till they release at least half the series.. ^^;
i dunno i was thinking the same thing myself.... if they do about 2-3 a year it'll be a good 10 years before they're done.

Well here's a quick example:
Volume 20-24 ish see's Yakumo and "Pai's Spirit" (at the bequest of Benares) travel into a void dimension into which the final "Third" remaining Sanijiyan Unkara was banished thousands of years ago. (Hence the series' title 3 x 3 eyes) Does this Sanjiyan still exist? Do they have a "Wu"? Will they find new allies or enemies? What were Benares' true motives behind helping Yakumo? Will Yakumo ever be able to return?
How many times will Yakumo and Pai call out each others names? :p
ah... so that's what that was all about....
i found vol 23 in japanese in the local comic shop.... flipped through it and had no clue what was going on.... makes me wanna learn japanese, but i don't have the willpower, heh

Yeah the manga has a few parts that are pretty redundant.... but by gods.. 37-40 are probably the best ones in the series. Those four volumes was just awsome and a great way to end a great series.

Yeah I am glad Takada-sensei chose to fill out Volume 40 a bit (with greater closure and longer scenes) compared to The Last Party/Young Magazine ending! That was a little abrupt and it made good sense to give the characters the send off they deserved! :)

Just wondering if any of read this manga.
So far I have read up to volume 24, and I absolutely love it. I wish they would make a TV series out of it, the OVA was by no means enough.
There's lots of action and gore. Supernatural abilites, and some romance.
"Yakumo Fujii was just like any other 16-year-old Japanese high school student. Well, his father did disappear in Tibet four years ago while searching for a legendary race of three-eyed beings, and Yakumo was forced to take a job as a "waitress" in a gay bar to support himself. But that was nothing compared to the strange girl Yakumo literally ran into one day on the way to work. She called herself Pai, and she carried a letter that Yakumo's father wrote just before he died. The note claimed that Pai was the last of the three-eyed race Prof. Fujii had spent his life searching for, a race with the power of eternal youth, the Sanjiyan Unkara.
Of course, Yakumo did not believe in monsters, and Pai certainly didn't look like a supernatural creature. In fact, she was kind of cute. But if monsters didn't really exist, then what was this huge man-faced bird that was suddenly rampaging through the streets of Shinjuku? Pai claimed the monster was Takuhi, her pet, but it looked to Yakumo like it was going to kill her. As he shoved her out of the monster's path and felt its talons rip into his own chest, he thought he was dead for sure. What happened next must have been a dream, but before he blacked out it looked like Pai really did have a third eye! The next morning, he woke up uninjured, but a Chinese symbol ("Wu", meaning "nothingness") had unexplicably appeared on his forehead.
Yakumo soon learned the truth. His body was now an undead shell; he could feel pain but could not be permanently injured, and even missing limbs seemed to magically regenerate. Yakumo's existance was now inextricably tied to Pai's, and so they set out together on a quest to become human. Many demonic creatures are seeking Pai and her power to grant immortality, and a long, hard road lies ahead for Pai and Yakumo. However, Pai has a great deal of strength beneath her youthful exterior. Yakumo soon realizes his feelings for her are deeper than he imagined. He will always fight to protect the girl he loves. "

I have been reading scanlations, but the manga is licensed by Dark Horse Comics, so no links will be provided.

Yes this was an excellent series (if a little repetetive at times), I just enjoyed the mix of action, horror and romance.
My favourite part was volumes 16-29 with Yakumo souped up with Connory's or Amara's powers! :)

Ah nice, didn't notice there was already a 3x3 Eyes manga thread... And I did 5 different searched.
Does anyone know what the latest vol is now? I am confused. So there is vol 1-8, then it jumps to the 2nd edition, then some of them are courses of gesu and some of them are the flight of demons? What is the order of this? thanks.
I presume that it is not over yet, right? I have never seen a vol. 40 anyway.

Man i totally loved 3x3 eyes.. the OVAs just dident satisfy my need for more...they really do need to make a series starting where the OVAs left off, when yakumo can actually fight well...
i loved this manga and OVAs...it totally doesnt get the credit it deserves....soo sad...leaves me alittle depressed that there is no more of the series left...

Didn't Dark Horse cancel 3x3 Eyes?
Yes, they did, a while ago. But I believe technically they still hold the license to it.
I presume that it is not over yet, right? I have never seen a vol. 40 anyway. It's been over for years in Japan. Dark Horse stopped translating at volume 13 and scanslations have been stalled around 28? 29? for a while.
So someone give us a summary of what happened...
Well other than 'Everyone dies and the world blows up' kinda summary.

Scanlations are up to vol 32 right now, but the releases come slowly, with some big packs being released here and there.

I'm assuming it was a fairly happy ending. If it was Kill Em All bad end I think we'd have heard by now. Bad news always spreads fast. :)
Yeah that's true. I think the ending is bittersweet. But then I've only skimmed the manga.

Actually, it's a fairly good ending.
Almost all key characters survived in the end (even the bad guy). Except that Yakumo sacrificed himself for Pai and the world by exploding himself into a gazillion pieces so that he can merge with the world's existence and restore humanity to life. Of course, that is only temporary as since Pai was still a Sanjiyan, Yakumo is still a Wu, and thus he'll be able to return back to his human form once the world is healed. And in the last page of volume of 40, we see a happy 3 eyed Pai laughing at a guy walking towards her from a distance who looks a lot like Yakumo.
AWWW that's kinda sweet. And a total spoiler.
