I don't care if Bandai is or isn't using Nu's Frame. All I care is that Bandai make a friggin Hi-Nu soon enough at an affordable price.
And when I say affordable, I do not mean that $80 price tag assocaited with the MG Sazabi.

yea it was modeled off your color basis added some more blue in other places than yours. I am quiet suprized with how well the gundam markers have worked out for me people made them sound like worthless tho I have probly done better with those than I could have with a paint brush and self mixed paint.
Gundam markers are great. Especially when you want to paint difficult-to-reach places. You might want to use sand paper though, it works great on rubbing off the edges, as I noticed a few rough edges on the wings. You also might want to try using a 0.20mm black marker to paint the panels (that gray left a little mess).
And when taking pictures, use cloth to minimize the reflection.

Great input thanks. I was using a genaric nail file to take off the sprew edges on the pieces but on a few of the parts they was still that little like white mark. And when I was trying to take that mark away I ended up leaving scratch marks on the piece around the sprew mark. Any suggestions on how to deal with that? Like should I be using a finer grade sand paper? Or should I just count on filling in the scratches with paint?
As for the paneling if your talking about the thick line on the right middle panel on the GP02's shield that was my failed attempt to see how well the black gundam marker works for panel, not so good as I found. Most of the other panels I was doing with a ultra sharp point sharpie, I have read that sharpies arn't the best for paneling seeing how they fade with age. But worked out quiet well for my first atempts seeing how I could just wipe it away and redo the line.
You need to keep in mind those are my first two attempts at actual gunpla. All in all I'm very happy with the feedback/outcome and thank you for those who are helping me!
But you want to take out those edges before you paint them. Scratch them off, and then cover them with paint.
Don't know if you did it, but the best way to do it is to paint individual parts before assembling them. Works a lot better than actually painting them after assembly.
You might also want to consider a paint remover. Works wonders. ;)

LISTEN UP!!! DO NOT BUY THE SPECIAL EDITION SF it is deff not worth it the gold plated parts r horrible . I ended up spraying over them with my own shiny nice gold. The gold plating is in the style of the old gundam wing 1/100 models like wing zero epyon exc. not worth it! Btw thsi is commmin from sumone who loves the freedom design not a hater

P.S. i have 1/12 red zaku it really set me back about 2k or so

It's funny seeing all the values of the MG SF Full Burst sky rocketing on Online Auction sites when it's obvious Bandai will reissue it. Shows that majority of the SEED Fanboys are sheeps to the slaughter.
Can't wait to see the faces of those who bought the kit at exorbital prices when Bandai reissue the kit.

Tak, do you mean place cloth for the background?
GameraBaenre
2006-12-28, 18:19
To minimize reflection, just don't use the flash. Use some lights. A big piece of thick colored art paper works as a good background as well. Here's the type of photography set up I use:
http://www.gamerabaenre.com/images/ryofu_prog%20076_jpg.jpg
Granted the it's a figure in the picture, but the same basic set up is used when I take pictures of my finished gunpla. The flash flushes out colors and has a horrible reflection when taken against shiny object. Best to just turn off the flash and use other lighting sources. If you have a nice sunlight outside, then use the same set up without the lights and you get even better pictures.

Where do you guy get most of your models? Cause I have been looking on ebay and what little sellection there is in my local area. And most of the ones I want like the sazabi MG, EX-S MG are like all stupid exspencive like US $100 or not available in my shops I go to.
Any suggestions for next models and a good price they should be? I like the blue astray with the sword, also like the red version but is it worth it for the more money just for a different factory color? I also like the Wing Ver Ka but whats a decent price to get it at? Also the Crossbone Full Cloth MG only one I have seen is 70 is that a good price? Call me elistist already but I really don't wanna do any thing under hg 1/100 and even then it would have to be something not available as a MG. Unless there is something amazing about a few you guys can enlighten me on.
EDIT: Also as far as pricing any one know of a store that would ship from japan or such area to the US with the prices as seen in some pictures like the ones in the ourageous pictures thread? Cause those prices were stupid cheap compaired what I have been paying. Like I paid 40 for my GP02A MG, 60 for my Full Armor ZZ MG, and 45 for my Aile Strike MG. But I look at the prices of some of the HG 1/100s and they are still around 25-30 and those in the pictures are like 10.
I believe you can't find those in online sites, but rainbowten.co.jp is the cheapest JP store....
and NA stores could be just as cheap *COUGHSHIPPINGcough*, if you live in NA. the bigger MGs and PGs are shipped by EMS, which could altogether be just as expensive as NA stores + their shipping, plus NA stores arrive to you within one week (usually 3-4 business days for me)
If you don't mind the wait, just use SAL. Rainbowten.co.jp is the cheapest Japanese store with "English" navigation. There are cheaper ones, but for non-Japanese readers, navigation may be difficult.
Hell, the MG Strike Freedom (regular edition, I figure I can do away without the gold) I purchased was less than $50, and I am quite pleased. It may take a while to get to me, but its all good.

I always use RainbowTen (http://www.rainbowten.co.jp/english/index.html) + SAL shipping, unless it isn't an option. It's usually the cheapest way, but the trade-off is time and uncertainty. SAL can take anywhere from 2-4 weeks, and it doesn't have any tracking information so you have no clue where your package is, or even if it got lost. Hasn't failed me yet though, so I'm not complaining.

Excuse me Meehlimo, but can you tell me what kind of gold paint yr using for the SF? pls reply.

2006-12-29, 01:01
First off, i am planning to paint the parts from the SF model that are not gold plated. Is Tamiya Gold paint(gloss) suitable?- Well, there's actually TWO Tamiya gold paints (Enamel): Gold Leaf and Titanium Gold. Titanium Gold is less 'shiny' than Gold Leaf, but it more resembles the kind of "gold" parts you see on computer chips or high-performance machinery (such as sportscars). Gold Leaf is closer to the actual metal. IMHO, Titanium Gold is better, but I suggest you look at finished models with both kinds of paint then decide for yourself.
Second, which type of clear coat is suitable for a model in yr opinion? I'm planning to apply a coat of clear coat(gloss) on the internal frame including the gold plated parts. Does this affect the gold plated parts whatsoever?- IMHO, I go for (Testor's) Dullcote, but that's because I prefer not to have a glossy look to my MS. I can't say for glosscote, but Titanium Gold under Dullcote is OK--then again, it's not as shiny as Gold Leaf.
Ok, here is my real problem...If i apply a coat of clear coat(dull/matt) on the whole finnished model, will it affect the previous clear coat(gloss) of the internal frame? I'd also like a suggestion on which type of clear coat is more suitable on the whole model if i don't use clear coat(dull/matt).- If you apply Dullcote to a gloss paint, the color will dull. In fact (I mentioned this in this thread awhile back), for some Master Grade kits, all you really need is a layer of dullcote to make it look good, because it gets rid of that "plasticky" gloss look. So yes, a gloss caint will be flat or matt in appearance when you coat it with dullcote. I can't say if the reverse is true (flat paint and gloss clearcote), since I've personally never tried it.
I would really wish bandai would make a basic, Gundam Seed inner-frame and just sell the armor parts seperately for all the GS gundams, that would make my day- They're doing something similar with the Formula-series Master Grades (F91 and Crossbone). But those frames are too small for other UC Gundams or the Seed series. You could do what the Hobby Japan/Dengeki Hobby magazine guys do: Buy a Master Grade which has roughly the dimensions you want, and an HG kit of the 1/100 Seed kit you want to modify, then put them together. But that's a lot tougher than it sounds--I'm still on hands and knees trying to convert a Master Grade F91 into an F90...
..and knowing Bandai, they'll announce a Master Grade Gundam F90 right after I've finished building mine...(mutters thoughts of death)
I am quiet suprized with how well the gundam markers have worked out for me people made them sound like worthless tho I have probly done better with those than I could have with a paint brush and self mixed paint.- I guess it depends on the person. I'm better with actual paint and brush than with Gundam Markers. The only exception being the "Sumi" (ink) Gundam Markers, which I need for the linework. But I still think that brushes are better--and definitely cheaper.

Well, I may not have as much as the Dalong, but it's a rather odd collection:

While I may not be too fond of 1/144's, I do find them very amusing in that 90% of the parts are all interchangeable with each other with practically no modding at all. I did like my Strike Gundam with a Zaku Warrior shield :heh:

Let's just let Dalong (http://www.dalong.net/review/mg/m97s/m97s_i.htm) show people the "light" :heh:
On a side note it isn't all that bad, for one thing I understand why it isn't Hyaku-shiki bling mostly because this is just the inner frame that is gold plated. I can imagine a Hyaku-shiki with full gold plated inner-frame...:heh:

You know, it's kind of hard knowing that I want so much to make 1/60 Perfect Grade Aegis and Blitz gundams out of the PG Strike, but that's totally reliant on a hack job :heh:
Either way, I find it a nightmare making every GS gundam MG'ized myself knowing that it would be easier for a company to do it for me :heh:

The thing that irritates me about Strike Freedom's gold plating is that Bandai didn't even bother to gold plate all the visible gold parts. They half-assed it and just plated some of the visible parts, which ruins the whole point of gold plating since the colors doesn't match.
I've been messing around with some gold paint to get the color that I want, but this is definitely going to take awhile. And what's funny is that I bought the SF-FB version specifically to avoid painting.. yet here I am. Seriously, wtf Bandai? Last time I fall for your marketing schemes.

Kia Ora all! I'm new to the forums, and have just recently discovered this site (thanks to Google!!). I have been collecting Gundam models for only the last few months from a friend that directly imports them from HK, and have only assembled a 1/144 Strike Gundam (from Seed series) and found them to be lacking in details and that "WOW!!" factor. So have decided to concerntrate on the more HG and PG series of models, or which the HG come in around the 1/100 and 1/60 mark and the PG only in 1/60.
I have only about 7 in my collection to date and judging by the quality of Bandai's products and my bank balance, I don't think that I will be giving up too soon. Thanks in part to my daughter who keeps in saying that its cool that dad is doing something besides drinking and smoking!! So in the meantime thanks for having me here and I hope you all can give me some advice on where I can get the paint markers (0.02 - 0.04) around where I live; Auckland, New Zealand?
When I get the chance I will put up some of the better assembled models and maybe if time allows some model progression pics of the PG Strike Gundam when it arrives from HK next month!
So take care and be safe in the new year all.

Thanks a lot for all this details!!!I truly am grateful. Now, my final problem is this, i can't seem to find any sort of topcoat or clearcoats where i live. that is, in Malaysia. And if purchasing these things online is not an option, where can i find the gold leaf type paint and topcoat here? The local Tamiya shop said that they have not received any stock of topcoat here for quite a while.

Erm, i have never heard of this brand of paint, where can i purchase it?
Which part of Malaysia do you live at? Or you can try to ask the guys in lowyat.net forum's GunPla thread (http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/344934), they can be of some help (sometimes, very helpful).

Hello all!
I just purchased the HCM PRO MSZ-006 Zeta Gundam and I have completely put it together, except I cannot figure out how to attach the base stand to it. Usually, my other gundam models are able to fit their stand snug in between their legs but this gundam has no slot or space available for me to attach the stand. Am I doing something wrong or am I missing something? Please let me know! Thanks in advance.

Hey i just got my strike freedom .. the FB one ... ( talk about getting riped off) well i was wondering i want to keep that same gold of the plates but the thing is when u cut it of the runner it will have that ugly mark which you would usually sand of but due to its like gold coated I wont be doing that but dose anyone know what will cover up the cut mark? like touch up markers? or like paint?..
well for the non shinny gold ill be geting MR.colours gold paint and i was wondering if that gold would look any good? help would be good ...
last questiong ..... ive made a pg strike , crossbone and wing and sprayed over them with Mr.superclear semi gloss so does that mean if i spray over it with matt would i get the matt effect?
Wow... Dalong's comparison between Freedom and SF really show how guady, ugly, and... well... shitty SF's design is(not even an MG incarnation can save it from that it seems...).
Not to mention, people who bought FB got totally ripped off by Bandai...

Wow... Dalong's comparison between Freedom and SF really show how guady, ugly, and... well... shitty SF's design is(not even an MG incarnation can save it from that it seems...).
Well, looking at this makes me appreciate the SF more than the Freedom, actually. For one thing it really confirmed to me how skinny the Freedom really is (back at home I always wondered if it was the skinniest thing around :heh: ), and holding the Freedom in my hand I really really thought it was too small for enjoyment, and with the comparison yeah Freedom really is a midget lol, the shoulders look a bit odd to me, the knee is (the fattest limb? lol...), I've always thought the feet look like they should've been redesigned, legs are up and down, and....what is with that large rear skirt? While it may not look bad on paper, I can imagine Freedom doing a split to dodge only to have the rear skirt blasted off :heh: :heh:
That said, I do feel myself liking the anime Freedom more than the anime SF, but you have to admit.....the MG SF did make an improvement over the 1/100 SF :heh:
I guess, to fix whatever fault the MG Freedom may have is to Perfect Grade it. There, much better :p
And why is everyone saying the FB MG SF(lol abbs) is a ripoff? I mean, be realistic people, it's not like you're putting your entire life insurance or retiement policy into a model kit....last I checked, I buy things because I wanted it. So how many people here bought the FB MG SF thinking it was the ultimate bling?:heh:
People, please, all I ask is that you remember the past :heh: I mean, who can forget the banana Ballute Hyaku-Shikish MG? Or, minus them event-only's, the only recent gold equivalent I can find on a large scale is the Gryps War HG Zeta 1/144 pack, that to me, has a comparable gold scheme as the SF does. So, remember that Gold paint is a rather pricey thing, and with the right type of gold painting it can cost quite alot.... I can go on and on about painting, like how costly it is for even a mediocre painting service, but my point being, I'm sure Bandai didn't want to lose PS3-type amounts of money, and at least they did a service to those who don't have the time and free-luxurious time to paint a model kit themselves......
That said I look forward to collect whatever SF comes along. No, I'm not a SF fanboy, I just like model kits with alot of gimmicks. Behold, my near wobbly Aegis Gundam :heh: which, I will also note, I say to you all don't trust pictures. They don't really grasp the joy of actually having it in your hands, as in my case that Aegis of mine was more pink in person than it was on Dalong's site, which ended up not helping me :heh: and also prompted me to phase-down paint it without a second thought :heh: and, someday when I get alot of money I'll give a little back of what Bandai "ripped you off of" to some of you, and this I am serious. I just feel bad when people pour alot of resources into a anime related item and not liking it, as in my case I seem to like whatever I buy, no matter what others say about it....
I don't know, I'm odd, weird and different that's for sure :heh:

Well,well,well...I c the FB is seriously getting more and more people to complain about it. I'll most likely be getting mine tomorrow at XL Toys if it is out. Even so, i guess it will only be sitting in the closet until i can find topcoat and the recomended paint by you guys here.*thanks again!*Another reason is because school is reopening this wed so i guess I won't have a lot of time to fix it, let alone paint it.
Btw, whats the brand of top coat you guys use here? Btw, kct, have you bought topcoat b4 around KL?
Oh yea, can the fingers of SF move individually? And are there a second set of hands in the FB kit?
I have not bought any topcoat so far, since I have only 1 MG kit right now. Ask the guys in the link I give in one of my posts above, they can give you tips (all of them locals).
Oh yeah, someone in the same thread is working on a MG S-Freedom to, you can check the pics there.
Mangatron, I disagree with making a PG Freedom. So many other MS deserve it more.
Besides, everyone knows that Strike>Freedom, but never Strike+Freedom
Funny, I'd want a PG Freedom. I thought the Freedom was one of the most beautiful Gundam ever created.
However, before some of you take it too far, I only like it on the basis that they do NOT use the default color scheme. Only when heavily modified with the magical spell that is model paint, can a Freedom truly stand out. :p

OK i'm sure this has been asked, but...

Mr. Hobby Topcoat is the only brand that I know of. There may be more, but my local hobby shop sells only that.
The only problem is the price.. but I guess that's part of the hobby. I recently did some calculations on how much I was spending on these supplies (like putty, paint, sandpaper, topcoat, brushes, cement, masking tape and etc) and found out that I was spending far, far more than the actual models themselves. Gotta start cutting back on the expenses.. :heh:

Come on, nobody is going to tell you what you should buy. You need to do some research on your own, find out what is available in your country and where it is distributed. You can do this online quite easily, and you'll find exactly what suits you. Dont make the mistake of thinking airbrushing will improve your skill. Most airbrushing techniques come with experience, but there are plenty of good guides for helping those who are new as such fichtenfoo.

That's a myth. Airbrushing makes the process a lot faster, but doesn't neccessarily lead to high quality if you do a rush job.

Whats up with the conversion kits I keep seeing on ebay? I understand they are resin no paint so you can custom paint but usually I see little or no difference between the plastic and resin piece. Is there a reason to use resin pieces over plastic pieces like say the paint holds better or something Im not seeing?

Mangatron, I disagree with making a PG Freedom. So many other MS deserve it more.
Yeah, I know. But perhaps you should note my comment is in relation to the fact that I was noting on correcting the inconsistencies in the MG model....
Because.....if a MG Destiny Gundam isn't in the works it wouldn't be so bad to PG it, since it was a main MS in a series....:heh:
But I don't really think too much into whatever PG is next, any of them is fine to me...
Gyah! Only 1 "heh" emote lol

Resin holds details better than the injection plastic that Bandai's kits come in. That's why most of the figurine models for anime in general are also made of Resin and cost a bundle.

FunnyOnly when heavily modified with the magical spell that is model paint, can a Freedom truly stand out. :p- Preach it, Tak.;)
Spray/Airbrushing is ideal for doing lots of area at one time. They key is not overdoing it. Not too close; 1 foot away from the part you're spraying is ideal. Some better-tuned Airbrushes can do a lot more than just area painting; some camouflage colors and effects can be done with Airbrushes in ways handbrushing can't ('strippling', for example, looks better when using Airbrushes than hand brushing). But it takes time and experience to learn. Likewise, there are some things an airbrush still cannot do--like panel lines.
As to Conversion kits: yes, the Resin kit conversions have better detail, and a lot of them are top-quality. But (Murphy's Law of Gunpla), they cost 3-6 times more than the kit you're buying them for. If you really want a competition-quality kit (or a conversion for one that doesn't exist, such as an MG GM Cannon) and have the money for it, go ahead, but IMHO, it's too much to pay for. B-Club in particular sells 'em at horrific prices.
Also remember that Resin is a bit tougher than the PolyStyrene plastic that the GunPla kits are made of, and the usual Polystyrene cement (Tamiya Cement, for example) will not work. You have to use a different kind of cement--or barring that, use Super Glue. I learned this the hard way, trying to put a Resincast 1/48 scale LAU Rocket Launcher to a 1/144 Cgue I was customizing.
Oh, about buying spray paints: You also have to check if the paint will work properly with your kit. I've been warned that Tamiya's PolyCarb sprays will melt some Bandai models--never tried it myself, but it's worth checking first.

Well, i am pretty aware that i am being ripped off by buying the SF FB but somehow the decals that are gold in colour attract me more. But i'll try to squeze a discount out of these people because they forgot my package.;)

They use a magnet to turn on, which.....is a bit odd to me lol. And they look different than their MG counterparts, and some are chrome plated I think. Visit Dalong's site to see for yourself if they are good or not :)

That why there are other companies out there such as CoreWorks, AkoHobby etc that sell conversion kits. Ako also has some IP plastic conversion kits that are very nicely priced.

Not true. Resin is a much softer plastic than the typical bandai styrene plastic. It's much easier to carve and sand in comparison to typical Injection Plastics.
As for gluing resin kits. Most resin kits should be pinned in conjunction to gluing. Insert a metal rod (paper clip size) and use either an epoxy type glue or CA glue (super glue) I would recommend using epoxy style glue over CA/super glue because CA type glues are a little on the brittle side and does not have the strength against weight stress. Since resin kits are usually solid and not thin hollow pieces like the typical bandai plastic kits, they weigh considerably more - another reason to use an epoxy style glue. Since the epoxy glues, are not brittle once they dry.
Polystyrene cements are formulated for polystyrene, so they obviously will not work on resin, great for melting plastic kits together tho.
Shoud I top coat the whole model put together in one shot, or part by part?

Shoud I top coat the whole model put together in one shot, or part by part?
Neither... do it section by section. For example: Head, chest, upper legs, lower legs, feet, upper arms, lower arms, etc.
Reason for this is you get the parts assembled and painted (if you paint) then get a well rounded spray on the overall sections such that when you repose them, you don't end up with an area where the spray didn't get to and have a discolored look.
If you are spraying topcoat with an airbrush, then it doesn't matter so much since with an airbrush you can get some pin point accuracy with the top coat.
Regardless, it's just much easier to spray section by section. It's not as tedious as spraying part by part, and not as cumbersome as spraying the kit as a whole. Of course, if you meant part by part as what I meant by section by section... just dismiss my inane ramblings :)

I'm thinking of buying MG 1/100 Wing Zero Custom, Wing Gundam Ver. Ka and Freedom Gundam from Hobby Link Japan, but I want to first ask how is the shipping to those who have bought model kits from Hobby Link. How long did it take? How was the condition of the package when it arrived? Did you have any problems? It also seems Wing Gundam Ver. Ka doesn't have a stand included so I would have to buy one separately?

Also, if you paint all the individual parts separately you can't exactly take care of the seam lines. The newer MGs are pretty good about seam lines, but they're still there in practically every kit.

Not true. Resin is a much softer plastic than the typical bandai styrene plastic. It's much easier to carve and sand in comparison to typical Injection Plastics.- Hmmm...so either the guy who sold them (the 'resin' Launchers) to me was incorrect, or I've got to buy myself a much tougher hobby knife. Mine broke while I was trying to shave off some tough bits where the launcher was attached to a sprue-like nib. Again, this was not a Gunpla part; it was something I bought from a hobby shop for a 1/48 helicopter, which I modded for a 1/144 Cgue.
Also, if you paint all the individual parts separately you can't exactly take care of the seam lines. The newer MGs are pretty good about seam lines, but they're still there in practically every kit.- There's two ways around that, both require a bit of work:
1.) If you're an ace modeller, you could cement some of the parts before assembly and re-model the part to fit after assembly--this is what some of the guys at Hobby Japan and Dengeki Hobby do. They actually re-cut the parts sometimes so that the original seam line is cemented and sanded out, while the 'cut' area is either unseen or falls on an existing 'detail' line. This takes a lot of skill, IMHO, since you could easily foul up and end up cutting too much of a part, or making too large of a gap.
2.) A second method is to sand or putty the seam line after assembly, then paint it afterwards. But that depends on how the part is put together, and how good you are at minute details. This is what I usually do, but I'm not all that good with this (my F90 A/D/S, for example, has some bits of messiness I really need to work on). If you're good with an airbrush, that might make things easier.
about the HGUC Gaplant TR5
what are the opinions about this kit ?- I don't have it (TR-5 "Hrairoo"), but my friends seem to think it's okay--if you're a fan of Advance of Zeta.
Basically, it's just a recolor of the older HGUC Gaplant, with a different head and new weapons (Long Blade Rifle, and "Hrududu 2" Claw units), and it doesn't have the Booster. It costs a bit more because there are more moving parts in the TR-5 are a bit more complex than the old Gaplant Booster. But the posability and detail are pretty much like the old Gaplant, so if you're expecting something as posable as the Hazel Custom/Advanced Hazel, you might be dissapointed.
Also, since this is a recolor of the old Gaplant, that means there are no clear Beam Saber blades for this--you'll have to paint the saber or use one from the other MS kits.

That's probably the best way if you're not into airbrushing and stuff. Just spray the parts while they're on the runner.

So is your only experience with resin this one particular kit? My comment comes from my experience with working on 20+ resin kits. All the resins I've worked with are much softer than bandai plastic. Now if you were trying to remove the pour tabs from the resin, the hobby knife is the wrong tool. A pair of nippers is best.
It could be that the resin you had was poor quality resin. But if you are making a blanket statement that resin is much harder than ip plastic, based on one kit - I would suggest you try a few more resin kits out.

Your not! I've been building MG and PG gundams for the past seven months, and found that the detail especially in the PG to be beyond par with the rest. Okay the PG may cost a hellava lot more here in New Zealand (around 330.00!!) and the MG come in around 110.00, from which I personally order from a importer that gets them through Hong Kong. But the detail is something that keeps me coming back for another, and when painted (sprayed is my preference) they look fantastic. So your not elitest in anyway, you just fancy the more finer things in what you spend your cash on.
Cheers and good luck to the future.
^not a good idea.
Stubs/cut marks will be blatantly visible when the part is cut off from the runner.
I use to do that in the past when spraying, but believe me it makes the job a whole lot harder! Save the time and remove and sand the part first then spray it, you'll love the end result.

I've stopped buying GunPla for quite a while ever since that traumatic experience I dubbed The Father Menace, and considering it's a new year, I would want to pick it back up...
I'm pretty much ascertained which MG I am going to get back from the dead (( and repaint )) like Aile Strike, Acguy, Freedom, S.Freedom but I'm wondering if those Patlabor MGs are worth their cash? Especially Griffon Type Flight. I've seen the Dalong reviews, but they aren't quite accurate enough to gauge the size and frame quality, and my eyes get distracted by it's sleek bling bling too much to look at it without bias.

M Flores is back - get ready to weep
Ok anyways, I recieved my MG SF FB last year, around 5 days after release date (notice I havent been posting ever since that date, lol) and thoughts...
First off, I do not feel ripped off at all. I knew what I was getting and was willing to pay for it. A little background on me, I am no pro modeller and although I've seen, watched, looked and read about Master Grade kits, this kit is probably the first MG (and possibly the last) I have built. I am a Freedom-fanboy and I like it's design and especially the Strike Freedom. Why? Explanation comes later.
Anyways, first of all, before I'll bombard you with pics, I'll just give a lo-down of what I've done. I've decalled it, minor panel lining (I've used a light and dark shades and a little bit of smudge on the shoulders because i'm a fukn noob, but thankfully, it can be erased later, I'm just lazy.)
I'll probably be the very few to say that I like the gold on this (compared to the normal version anyway) and I don't mind that some parts are just caramel coloured - I appreciate the gold on it especially on the chest cannon and the various joints. Also, however, I'd say the decals of the normal MG is slightly better than the FB decals - check dalong.net and you'll see what I'm talking about.
Anyhow, I haven't really done anything too special with it, aside from do poses from the box art and stuff, however, I have finally completed and done prototype versions of the M Flores special - WINGS OF PAPER.
As a test or draft, I refined my 1/100 Destiny Gundam's wings of paper from what you saw in my previous pics, to a better, more dramatic tracing paper with pink highlight on it - which is better than the previous plain pink I've used because the tracing paper gives a more translucent look.
Now that I've seen how good it looks on Destiny 1/100 (IMO, anyway), I decided to carry out what I've always planned to do if I'd ever get my prayers answered for an MG SF. And although the dragoon effect parts seemed very cheap and poorly attempted, it still succeeds in posing the dragoons in flight which was the main point I was after. Fair enough that they didnt include the wings of light we wanted - I could make that myself. But something to display the dragoons in flight, I was glad they came with something.
The poster - a little disappointing. I expected a great epic, dramatic, tuff, legendary looking artwork potrait or landscape whatever of Strike Freedom. Oh well, my fault for keeping my hopes up.
Anyways, I'll post pics soon of what I've done so far, since I did four sections instead of two (Destiny Gundam) for the wings of paper, some of them look a little uneven and the bottom wings seem slightly larger than the top ones, so I'll have to trim it a little and since its tracing paper, its really thin so the wings flop from side to side every once in a while but it doesnt look too bad right now IMO.
I can finally do the Legend getting owned pose, except I don't have a Legend Gundam, lol.
I love this kit to death, and even though I haven't painted it, modded it, pro-touched it, I am happy with what I have paid for and everything that came with it (as well as didn't come with it).
The very first time I saw an MG Freedom was (aside from the boxed one, at the shops) was when I saw one at my ex-girlfriends house on display. It had the cliche title-mecha pose (where the wings are spread, legs together, arms are open, etc.) and a picture of us in the background. Because we were both a fan of SEED, the Freedom Gundam (and in some cases, also the Justice Gundam) we thought was very cool and dramatic and epic and shit whatever, all this "Neither will alone, nor strength alone" crap really got to us and fell for all its fanservice and rice. So yeah, the Freedom Gundam was kinda symbolic in a way, and this MG Freedom she had was really awesome, I thought damn, such accuracy, detail, and just awesomeness - something I have never experienced in any of my 1/100 HG kits. It was one of the most beautiful decorative items I've seen and I wanted something similarly dramatic/epic/whatever/etc.
However, admiration soon led to envy (lol), so I said to myself, I must get one!
But then all my other friends got one, and every mecha talk around that time was Freedom this, Freedom that. Pfft Wing Zero, pfft Double X, pfft Nu Gundam, pfft God Gundam.
I resisted all the temptation to get an MG Freedom despite all the fanservice and promos and marketing devices. And then came along GUNDAM SEED DESTINY.
There was the OMGWTF DESTINY GUNDAM MOTHERFUCKER BITCH WHAT.
So, I got a 1/100 Destiny Gundam. Loved it to pieces. But in didn't have the magic of a Master Grade kit like my ex's Freedom did.
I wanted an MG Freedom, but I didn't wanna be reminded of her own. There was only one way for me - to get an MG Freedom Gundam that surpassed an MG Freedom Gundam!
And so, GUNDAM SEED DESTINY PHASE 39 is released.
An upgrade, fully tuned, modified, riced up version of the Freedom Gundam appears. Aha! It symbolized that the greatness of what everyone was talking about the Freedom could be taken even further beyond. I avoided the 1/144, 1/100 and the 1/60 SF despite all the fanservice, promos, marketing tools, etc. It must be a Master Grade. I have to have a decoration that is more breathtaking that my ex's MG Freedom.
...Two years later... Gunota announced MASTER GRADE STRIKE FREEDOM GUNDAM, DECEMBER RELEASE. The theme of "Renewed Strength and Justice" off phase 39 played endlessly in my head. But there was a catch - there will be TWO versions of the kit!
So I decided, to get the Special Options model because I might as well get the full appreciation for Bandai's own MG SF to add an exclamation point after having my prayers answered.
Not only will I get an MG Freedom that surpassed an MG Freedom, but I will also get the special version of it, no matter what comes with it or not.
So basically, not only did I get the Full Burst because of the features, but also just because I can say that I got a full burst model rather than the standard. Like how people don't waste money buying NSX's because they're fast, they buy it because it's an NSX. I bought the FB model because its recognised as a special (although not limited) version of the MG SF and being one of the few ordained (or... according to some people, ripped off) ones who managed to score one of these babies was good enough for me.
Then came Dec. 27th 2006 - MASTER GRADE STRIKE FREEDOM GUNDAM FULL BURST MODE MOTHERFUCKER BITCH WHAT
*T.M Revolution - Vestige*
I know this is a little extreme, but I have waited so long for this kit, I even left work early because I had to build the legs and skipped lunch with my ex because I wanted to build the wings. (lol sad yes I know, shut up!)
There's my little story to show my appreciation for this (probably final) kit I get of Gunpla. Of course, I'm a bit about theatricality, so I made this story a little more dramatic and epic and whatever, lol.
And the above is why I'll always believe the FB > Normal.
From here on, I'll let the upcoming pics do the talking.
'Til then,
M Flores, ikimasu!

It was already "Full Cloth" on the X3/X1 Kai-Kai FIX Figuration Packaging. Most likely a mistranslation of the Katakana "クロス" (Ku-ro-su). Full Cloth sounds more logical.

I've been building models on and off depending on cost and interests as their not cheap to buy in New Zealand for about twenty years, at the moment I'm building some MG Aile Strike and another 1/60 Strike which is taking awhile due to all the spraying and fine detail work I'm putting into these two. And hopefully my PG Strike will arrive in the next few weeks, so that I can get some pics together to show you all.

It's not that the wings wear down if you move them up and down. The wing pegs need to be put together in exactly the right spot so the male and female portions line up perfectly. If it's off, it'll still rotate, but it will cause the tearing that was pointed out.
When you cannot get the retro kit you are after... one thing you can do is build your very own kit. ^_^
And while you are at it might as well build in 1/100 scale instead of 1/144 scale...

Wow lycantivis, GP02, Strike, and now ZZ Full Armor, Freedom and Sazabi? Where you getting all the $$ and where you buying from?
Well the GP02, Strike and ZZFull Armor were all christmas gifts from people, as for the Sazabi and Freedom all I can say is I have a decent job where I can aford to spend a good chunck of money a month on gundams. As for prices I go to a collector show in california USA that has a dealer that sells gundams for their bar code retail price with no tax so the sazabi cost me $80 and the Freedom cost me $40. Like next time I go out to the show Im going to get a Wing Zero Ver Kai for $40. I also watch ebay for cheap deals like I just paid for a MG GP01FB for $22. And I'll be geting the MG EX-S next time I pull together another extra $80.

It was already "Full Cloth" on the X3/X1 Kai-Kai FIX Figuration Packaging. Most likely a mistranslation of the Katakana "クロス" (Ku-ro-su). Full Cloth sounds more logical.
I stand corrected. Full Cloth sounds odd to me, but I've seen worse like Slaughter Dagger.
It's not that the wings wear down if you move them up and down. The wing pegs need to be put together in exactly the right spot so the male and female portions line up perfectly. If it's off, it'll still rotate, but it will cause the tearing that was pointed out.
Actually I figured out what was the problem with mine. All the parts were lined up correctly since I saw the multiple warnings on Dalong's site.. however because most of the parts of the wings were painted, they had a hard time moving with the extra coat. The soft peg/joint couldn't hold up and deformed slightly. I definitely screwed up in this case.
I would like to add on to the assembly problems of Strike Freedom MG...
In addition to the perfect geometry needed to put the wings together... one must also pay attention to the tubes that hold the 'flying dragoons' in place...obviously this doesn't apply to normal Strike Freedom MG users, but only FULLBURST users.
What your'e SUPPOSE to do before bending them... is to submerge them into hot water. That is, the hottest water you can get out of your tap. once it's in hot water (or basically, once it's hot/warm), you then bend it. This is what it says directly in the manuel as well... but i'm sure most of us here probably couldn't find it, let alone read it...

It could be that the resin you had was poor quality resin. But if you are making a blanket statement that resin is much harder than ip plastic, based on one kit - I would suggest you try a few more resin kits out.- Point taken. However, I might not be buying any resin parts soon (money issues plus budget holding for upcoming HGUC GM Quels). I usually only buy parts I think I really need for a kit/kitbash.
all i need now is a can of gold paint and matt topcoat and i shall start building.- Just to remind you: try testing the gold paint (remember, there might be different kinds) and matt topcoat on a sample piece of plastic first before you actually do go for it. Just to see if the effect is what you want.

Thanks for the reminder!:D I was acctually planning to use Titanium Gold for the inner frame with a coat of gloss topcoat, while the outter armour is coated with a layer of matt topcoat. That way, i think the gold parts will stand out a little more.
Well, all i gotta do is to wait for that matt topcoat...:heh:

Ok so I know that this model was heavily modified but how? Can some one exsplain to me how they modified the wings to be so big and what they used to detail everything that has been changed. I know about resin kits but that doesn't seem like a resin kit because it shows some white/green smuging of some product that I would assume is what they used to enlarge certain pieces. And if some one had a link to an english site that has a walkthrough or at least an exsplanation of the product that would help alot.
Thanks in advance

Not too sure how much this will help, but I've done a few modification projects using tamiya epoxy putty, styrene sheets, etc. Most recently is this project that is still in progress: http://www.gamerabaenre.com/0080_desert_dio_prog.htm
In the following picture, you can see where I use epoxy putty to fill in the forehead and add some shape to the kampfer's chin; and you can see where I used some styrene to add some length to the head.
http://www.gamerabaenre.com/images/0080_desert_dio%20065_jpg.jpg
With most of bulk up work, most modelers will use sheet styrene or metal rods as the base structure. Then use epoxy putty to fill in areas and add shapes and such. Once the putty cures, it can be sanded and scribed to add more details.

So this epoxy puddy from a modeling shop only or can I get it like at home depot or something? Cuase I have been geting my gundams and markers from a anime store and don't know of any hobby shops around my area.
GameraBaenre
2007-01-09, 18:31
Well the tamiya epoxy putty I use is from my local hobby shop. You can probably find them from several online sources as well.
Some of my local home depots carry this stuff: http://polymericsystems.com/quikplastik.htm
Quikplastik, which is another type of epoxy putty. I have not used the stuff, but fellow modelers have used this as well as aquamend which is also made by the same company and found at home depot.
My only experience is using miliput (yet another type of epoxy putty) and Tamiya Epoxy Putty (which is my putty of choice).
I would recommend you get your local phone book and search for hobby shops around you - granted that they probably will not have gundams there, and if they do, they're usually overpriced; but you can get all sorts of tools and supplies that are necessary for the type of modifications you are interested in.

Ok so I know that this model was heavily modified but how? Can some one exsplain to me how they modified the wings to be so big and what they used to detail everything that has been changed.- Well, other than Resin kits, there's two ways:
1.) Use Epoxy Putty like Tamiya Epoxy Putty or Milliput, as GameraBaenre has shown. Epoxy Putty is basically a clay-like substance you can use to mould certain parts. I've used both the Milliput and Tamiya Epoxy Putty, and they function pretty much the same, although Millput seems to be cheaper (a box of Millput Regular and Tamiya Epoxy Quick Type cost AU$8-9, but the Tamiya boxes are smaller and contain less). I'm not too good with Putty since I fumblewhen modling them with my hands--you might need a bit of practice when sculpting some more complex stuff from putty (I tried to build an original Beam Rifle design from Epoxy Putty--a horrible mistake).
2.) Use Sheet Styrene (Pla-Plate). Simply put, it's a flat sheet of Polystyrene plastic--the same sort of plastic used in most Gundam kits. If Epoxy Putty is ideal for parts you want to mould, Styrene plate is ideal for flat surfaces ot rods, pipes, etc. The one most common in Australia is the brand Evergreen, and they mainly sell Styrene plates for Railroad models, so there are a few that have textures like roofings or sidings. what you'll normally need are the plain flat plates, which some in different thicknesses, as well as pipes and rods (if you need them). All you need is styrene cement (basically, any plastic model cement) to put them together.
I think that Infinite Justice's wings might be built from Styrere, but that's just a guess.
SOME NOTES:
- There are two kinds of Putty: Contour Putty and Epoxy Putty. Contour Putty is more for filling in gaps or smoothing out some edges. Make sure you know which one you're using, and what for.
- Tamiya Epoxy Putty is NOT Tamiya Putty. Tamiya Putty (in a toothpaste-like tube) is used as a "filler" Putty, or else as a means of 'roughing up' a surface (kind of like Surface Primer). Tamiya Epoxy Putty is two strips of claylike material, an adhesive and a hardener, which you have to mix together
- Dengeki Hobby and Hobby Japan use a kind of Putty called "PolyPut" -- Polyester Putty. I don't know much about the stuff.
Here's an example of using both Epoxy Putty and Styrene Plate to customize a model--in this case, an HGUC GM (One Year War) into an RGM-79R GM-II (Zeta Gundam). The yellowish parts you see are Epoxy Putty, some of the white parts (like the bits on the backpack) are Styrene Plate:

God I can't wait for that model then I have to wait for my guy to get it in /sigh. Hi Nu so sexy plus a stand is just amazing.
So I did look in the phone book and found a place I did have to drive a bit to get there. Some little family run train/model shop. But I got a tube of poxy and a box of epoxy. They didn't know what I was talking about when I asked for pla plates, guessing it a gunpla term not used here in the states much.
I'm gona mess around with the tube pudy a bit on some lower grade models I have till I feel comfortable to use it on a MG. Cause I wanna make my Sazabi nice as can be I bought some spray can paint and 2 cans of top coat even, the paint I'm experienced with from R/C cars.
And boy does some good new tools make the difference I was using some wire cuters of my dads that were quiet old to cut the pieces from the runer. I got a new set of modeling clipers that make so much difference and using a razor edge to clean up cuts and paint help alot.

What are the brand names of the tube putty and box putty. For modeling, there are two basic types of putty. Basic putty that comes in a tube like this:
Tamiya Basic Putty (http://www.tamiyausa.com/images/product/631/87053/header_87053.jpg) or epoxy putty which comes in two parts and need to be mixed before usage: Tamiya Epoxy Putty (http://www.hobbymar.com/catalog/images/TAMIYA-EXPOSI.gif)
Now, for the basic putty, this type of putty is for filling in seam lines, and fixing small defects in the surface. If you are planning on using the stuff for adding bulk on model plastic. THIS IS THE WRONG PUTTY TYPE TO BE USING FOR SUCH A JOB. Basic putty from the tube will melt the plastic (that's how it forms a bond with the plastic); if you attempt to use this type of putty to build up a part, you will have a huge melted plastic mess.
For adding bulk, as I stated in my previous post on the subject. Use the Epoxy Putty type putty.
As for pla plate, your model railroad shop should have "styrene" in stock. Styrene is the type of plastic, that models are made from. And the brands that most hobby shops carry are "Evergreen" and "Plastruct", and they come in sheets, rods, tubes, strips, etc. At this shop, you could also ask if the folks there know of any other hobby shops that specialize in other aspects.
As for the RC paint. I'm not too sure how well the paint designed for lexan will work with styrene plastic. Doing all your tests on cheap gundam models is a good move.
Fin Funnel thruster effects parts? Huh.. why do I get the feeling that it's going to be ugly just like the ones that came with the Strike Freedom FBM.
It sounds like Hi-Nu Full Burst Mode, which is basically like S-Freedom FBM but replace it with Hi-Nu >.> .
Going by the kits, the releases for this year seems to point to MSes that is rather iconic, so I bet something iconic (bar those from Zeta Gundam, since they already received 2.0s) is going to be the 100th MG release.

Anyways, i asked around and someone told me the resin is hard to work with, the one that coem with the garage kits. Anyone have a tutorial or any info on prep and just what exactly goes into making these? Cuz im sure its not as easy as getting the parts, priming, painting and attaching. I ask cuz there are actually a few conversion kits iv been looking at as of late (Hi-Nu (http://www.hobbyfan.com/product_info.php?products_id=3175), Ex-S (http://www.hobbyfan.com/product_info.php?products_id=4156), and GP01 (http://www.hobbyfan.com/product_info.php?products_id=2756)...all from Core-works).

Here are a few progress pages I did for the couple of resin conversion kits I've built:
http://www.gamerabaenre.com/hazel_prog.htm <-- 1/100 Hazel Conversion
http://www.gamerabaenre.com/cw_sazabi_prog.htm <-- Core Works Sazabi
http://www.gamerabaenre.com/hinuconversion.htm <-- B-Club Hi Nu Conversion (a bit of an older progress)
Resin kits are not hard to build. They just require attention to detail and patience. Resin is softer than Bandai plastic which makes it easy to sand, but also easy to over sand.
Steps to build a resin kit:
1: Test fit, make sure all the parts fit correctly
2: Pinning
3: Sand and clean up the parts
4: Soak the parts in an industrial cleaner to remove mold release (if you ski this step, paint does not stick to the surface of the resin)
5: Prime the kit (allows paint to stick much better to the kit, and you can see if you missed any sanding defects)
6: Check for defects, fix defects and reprime
7: Paint

Holy crap.. if I'm seeing correctly, this Full Cloth version includes the new weapons, plus all the other weapons the Ver. Ka included? What was the point of the version Ka then..? :twitch:- Just a note: The "Skull" designs on the Ver Ka. are realistic-looking, while the ones on the Full Cloth version are more "cartoony" in appearance. Personally I like the Ver Ka skull designs better. But damn, the Full Cloth will be pushing my budget.

I'm hoping that they release an MG Gundam Mark V. They already have two of the sentinel gundams (S Gundam, and Ex-S Gundam), but they haven't come out with anything else for the series, so I think that a Mark V would be appropriate. I also think that an MG Turn A gundam wouldnt be out of the question either :)
given the failure of sentinel line ups I don't expect any other sentinel kit from Bandai for a very long time, especially for MG line ups...
I beg to differ about the 'failure' of the Sentinel kits.

elaborate on that? None of those kits were exactly 'failures' afaik
what I meant was as far as Bandai Japan is concerned those sentinel line up didn't make enough money to warrant its plan/development cost - mind you developing new MG kit is rather expensive than HG or HGUC... And all future plan for sentinel line up were dropped. from what I heard few guys who headed that project also got pushed aside and no word of sentinel is ever mentioned in Bandai Japan since... ^__^
Bandai is in it for the money and if a particular line up does not make enough money or at least exceed its own projection that line up is considered to be a failure. As far as Bandai Japan is concerned most of Seed line ups are not such great performer either... You have to wonder why there are so many UC line ups in Master Grade series compared to other non-UC series...
Does anyone know a site that showcases Gundam models that people have built?
I don't think there's single site that list but you can always check out number of active gunpla modelling sites and look for completed model galleries... ^__^

I don't think that Bandai releases the exact sales figures for each model kit to the public, so it's pretty hard, if not impossible, to judge how well a kit does. Unless you work for Bandai of course and have access to those sales figures.
And while the Crossbone Full Cloth looks nice, I'm going to hold off on buying it. The Hi-Nu certainly looks disappointing, but I'm still waiting to see the final product before making a decision. And with the MG Destiny (hopefully) and the 100th MG coming up, my budget is going to be extremely tight.

This is rather old news but the people who steered the Sentinel project did get pushed aside and at that time after the rumour mill it was agreed that it was due to the failure of Sentinel line up. And all planned/hinted Sentinel line ups were also cancelled subsequently...
Saying that I'd love to see other entinel line up from MG series.
I'd love to see Nero in 1/100 MG for example...

I'm not familiar with Sentinel, so I can't really comment on what happened with the Sentinel Project. However I would prefer Bandai focusing on TV series that have been ignored so far (Victory, Turn A, X) rather than giving more MGs to a photo novel. I still don't understand why G Gundam got 4 MGs.. Bandai moves in mysterious ways I guess.
Of course, there is this concern about Katoki being a design whore (knowing how many things he have designed), not to mention that Bandai's Gundam division might be losing fans to 'certain designs by another sub-company'.
Of course, we can't blame the Sentinel series if any failure happened. It's level of exposure here isn't like back then.

I couldnt care less for Katoki's designs. I love them, theyre great but the man cant do much aside from a certain style that he uses over and over. I dont like him cuz i dislike his designs, i dont like him due to a lack of variety. Aside from his work in Sentinel, its been largely the same even when he did stuff for SRW.
Who i really like is BEE-CRAFT as theyre cleaning up good designs by a designer who cant seem to make a decent lineart, Okawara.
Kawamori is my all time favourite though is Kazumi Fujita for his amazing range of designs in Zeta. Kawamori being a close second.
Okawara was good in the older stuff, although his newer designs were short of horrible (*cough*Strike Freedom*cough*). You have to remember that he made the Zeta Gundam's transformation workable though, otherwise we'll see another Hyaku case.
BEE-CRAFT was definitely excellent, they are always called up for newer Sunrise animes (like Stargazer, one of them was in Code Geass, and now they are in for the upcoming Idolm@ster anime, which coincidentally have Daisuke Ono as VA of one of the characters). Hence I see that it is a good idea to have them as the primary disigners for the MG kits (and the current GSD 1/100s). There is certainly a massive difference between their redesigns and the original designs (case in point, *cough*Strike Freedom*cough*), but it is all good.
Kawamori, the one who did the Macross designs? He's definitely one of the most influential designers out there, even if there is people who disliked anything by him.
I can't blame Katoki for the 'general' layout he got for all his linearts (even one of his latest designs, the SRW Original Generations' ART-1, looked like a massively redesigned Zeta Plus), since he look at things from a 3D to 2D standpoint. Also, some of his redesigns did spur some improvements of certain kits.

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y207/EpS_01/katoki.jpg
Now, i dont know the designs for SRW, but i do know Katoki when i see it.
Okawara may be horrible at doing linearts, but his stuff is still more varied than Katoki's, even if Okawara recycles his stuff (DX and Freedom, Vigna Zerah and Savior). That and his stuff looks good in animation.
Kawamori Shoji, yes, he did Macross, Escaflowne, and has been the main mecha designer for the Armored Core seires for pretty much franchise's history. What's more (simple novelty but cool nonetheless) is that he's been using his designs from other seris in AC. For example, in the last AC game there were parts for Physallis' legs, iv heard of other accounts but im not sure myself.
I forgot to mention Izubuchi...Nu Gundam's half-drawn cape style Funnel rack is stylish and classy
Hah. If Nu is awesome, Hi-Nu is epic.
The Huckebein (the large one next to Wing Ka) are definitely his design (it's written on SRW's oficial site or something...funny that they're the most Gundam-like in terms of appearance...all versions are like Gundam of SRW)...and it has been the source of a rumoured controversy bought up by Sunrise (also created rumours that Banpresto are eliminating Huckebeins from their future games...not true though).
I don't remember about all the R-series and the Wild series, though I might be mistaken.
Of course, back to Kawamori...his 0083 work with Katoki made it great in terms of mechanics (although the same could not be said about the plot...). Not to mention Macross becoming legendry.
Hmmm...anyone forgotten about Nagano?

BEE-CRAFT is mixed bag for me. Sometimes they do great work, like the Seed MG kits. Strike-Freedom was vastly improved from the original lineart IMO (which was just hideous) without making drastic changes. On the other hand there are kits like 1/100 Saviour and I-Justice, which has some really odd changes. Saviour's wings were given a ugly redesign, and I-Justice was just a mess in general. And I'm certainly not a fan of the Stargazer stuff at all.
MG wing zero custom aren't correct to the lineart, but you probably won't care about that.
To be honest, a lot of MGs are like that. They're reinterpretation of the original lineart more than anything. Sometimes people like the changes, other times they don't.

Otherwise, the only other thing I'd ever get is an MG ∞ Justice Gundam to match my SF (with silver joints! lol and an effect part to display the backpack in flight, lol), however rather unlikely seeing as though there isn't even an MG of the stock Justice Gundam.

I use thin tracing paper and colour the rear page with the specific coloured highlighter (pink obviously for destiny, and a light blue for Strike Freedom).
If you're going to do this, you'll probably be aware that the paper will bend due to the thinness of it - but you can remedy that by constantly rolling or bending them in the other direction and eventually, they will sit straight or in the direction you desire. If you see the Destiny Gundam's paper, you'll notice its a little more well-positioned, this was due to the constant rolling and minor folding, which a similar result should also occur with Strike Freedom's over time. However, you might probably find a better version or method for yourself, so yeah, good luck!
Could also color one side of the paper, and apply oil or something to the other side of it. That way, it'll "glow" when light hits the back.

I can't read that, but is it hinting that there will also be a beam effect part inside/on the FFs?
Yes. But it will be clear plastic sheets with the beam effects painted on it to simulate the load and ready state of the FFs instead of clear parts.
Looking at the picture, I'm sure to people here that the 4 arms sticking out of the base are rotatable with 3 holes on each to place the FF effects as you see fit. Then there are 3 more holes on the upper arm of the stand to simulate the FFs leacing the FF rack of the Hi-Nu.
But the biggest selling point of the stand (to me) will be that's it will be in the shape of Amuro's Insignia (The stylise A on the left shoulder of the Nu) to give it a more personalise touch for the legendary pilot.
man, if it only had core-works/G-sys proportions it would've been the ultimate master grade.... ah well, not like Im gonna fork $80++ dollars on it...
I would not even dare to think what Bandai has in store for the big 100, if the Hi-Nu is any indication.

The redesigned Hi-Nu is a result of Bandai putting Izubuchi in charge for this model kit, instead of Katoki. I don't think a significant redesign like this will happen again (at least I hope).
And damn, that Amuro stand looks nice. But for some reason, I doubt it'll make it into the final product.. like SF's spider stand.

But Izubuchi's the one who designed the Hi-Nu in the first place. It's just he's redesigning his own work. Katoki hasn't touched a MG design for a while now. All of them with in the past few years, with the exception of the Crossbones have been done by the BEECRAFT studio.

That's pretty interesting. I thought BEE-CRAFT worked on Seed MGs, not the entire MG line. And I recall Gunota saying that Izubuchi instead of Katoki was in charge of the Hi-Nu, so I thought he had a hand in the MG team.
To be honest, I'm not sure who to believe anymore. For example, someone said in another forum that BEE-CRAFT was a nickname for Junichi Akutsu, which I find odd because I thought it was the name of a team. Bah.

BEECRAFT, a team has done a number of MG kits including the GM, the most of the G Gundams, the OYW Gundam, the Zeta and Mark II 2.0, the F91, all the SEED MGs, etc. They also did the later SEED Destiny 1/100 releases.
Junichi Akutsu is the person responsible for the original GAT X concept designs as well as the Astrays and Stargazer designs. He is part of BEECRAFT.
Of course...Sunrise are whoring him too these days (including him in non-mecha animes like HiME and such).

The Anime News Network description is slightly misleading, especially since a lot of the BEECRAFT are NOT based off Katoki's work. Case in point, the CR Freedom looks nothing like the MG Freedom.

Eh, Im getting this mofo. Who cares if I still have (2) unsnapped Ver-Kas.- First, you could use the "Skull" parts from the Ver Ka to put on the Full Cloth--I think the Cartoony skulls don't look good on the Crossbone as an MG. On the other hand, you could build the inner skeleton and use it as an inner frame for some other stuff you might build.

Actually, from what I can tell from the pictures, Full Cloth includes the Ver. Ka runners + the Full Cloth stuff. So the Ver. Ka Skull parts are also there. It looks like the only thing it's missing is the beam cloak and some decals.

That SF looks really good. U did the same think i did with cover up the gold plated thrusters in the legs and chest vents with black IMO it looks better that way.

How do u bend those clear pipes that hold the dragoon effects and i was wondering do hlj sell those action stands??? want a stand for my Xbone.
Hot water is your friend for the DRAGOON effect holder.
OK, a GunPla shop near my house (to be precise, 10 minutes away on foot) has just dropped the gauntlet for the normal version of the MG Strike Freedom in terms of 'lowest price' <.< .

What special connections. Whenever Gundam Base posts pictures, it means the kit's been released already. Errr Korea specifically.

I would really like to see a Deepstriker from Gundam Sentinel. You know with those prototype colors it stands out amungst the rest of the sentinel line. Though I doubt it will ever get a MG due to its size.
That doesn't stop people from making conversion/resin kits to create the Deep Striker.

And in other news.
The light sand is H313 mixed with white to lighten the original colour. The light brown is H19 out of the bottle. Panel lined with raw umber. Did not pre-shade or do weathering due to lack of time.
Went lazy with the head seam and got away with it by panel lining it. Lost two parts.
The machine gun was screwed up thanks to H78 Metal Black. The silver powder was very obvious and too bright. Darkened the weapon with lots of smoke.
But I have to say, for 19 bucks, this is one great kit OOB. The shield detailing and soles are on par with MG kits. And the elbows... Full articulation! The seam lines are quite okay, the problematic ones are hidden away or concealed by construction. Who needs the MG GM and conversion kit which together would cost four times as much as this bargain?

I just realised after taking the pictures I forgot to paint the pipings at the knee area.

Ok, after going to my local tamiya shop, they said they don't sell Titanium Gold in spray paint form. It was not manufactured that way. only in bottles. Is this true? So i guess i have to use gold leaf then.....

Simple really. ^__^
It's in 1/144 scale and the conversion kit is for 1/100 scale...
There are fair number of gunpla modellers who do 1/100 scale mainly - me included though I use 1/144 for vinette/diorama due to the base size.
Here's the 2nd 1/100 scale one I did...

Already finished with straight building of the Zeta (plus decals and panel-lining). Needs some layer of top coat or something.

it's something to do with shipping and etc.
or the distributor in Korea are allowed to release the new kits before Japan's release date...
