Hey, I'm interested in giving a shot at building a model - where's a good place to start? I don't think I'll have much access to tools or paint; would the HG 1/144 Gundam 00 ones be managable for a beginner? Help!

HG Gundam 00 is nice. You can start with MG's if you want, but if you want to paint, panel line, etc, then HG 00 is a good start I'd say.
You could wait a bit, and get the 00 Raiser with the GN Sword III.
Alternatively, the Exia R2 is a very fine little kit, and already available...

man i forgot to post my arios in here
enjoy
ahhhh this finally done
this kit is quite troublesome, the seamline is quite a lot and some of them in difficult area like in the bottom of the foot
but thanks to sammy (from Zero-G Forum) who give me advice to make smooth texture, now i'm capable to make something reallly reeallly smooth
not as good as him or keita, but i will learn more in next project :p
actually this project is my project with my friend but because he so SLOWWW i'm finish earlier (he not even start yet)
well anyway
i'm only do some minor detailing in this kit like filling the empty area and add some panel line
and also this is the first time i'm using samuel decal and mark softener
it's working very very well
my decal now is become one with the surface
yayyy
enough with the chit chat
enjoy, and critique are always welcome (to be honest i don't like critique, but as a modeler we need that right?)

maybe i will do 1/100 00, Seravee and cherudim as well in the future (because i also have 1/100 exia, dynames and virtue)
Wow! Thats some amazing paintwork! Really inspirational! Btw, did you spray a layer of topcoat first before you place on the decals? Is that how you make them look so good?

I reckon it would look bad - plus, would it even attach to Exia? I mean... it has 3 holes (seen here : http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/image/10095809n2/40/2) and I'm sure that wouldn't go on Exia.
i think i saw an exia with the feathers here but i think the drive was off 0 gundam on that particular exia

Yeah, I know it won't fit on a 1/100 perfectly, but mods are possible. I just want to see if it looks nice or not..kinda planning a project for mg exia

Does anyone know a good glue or adhesive for metal to metal?
You could always use a soldering iron to weld the two pieces together. That would probably work better than just an adhesive.

The 00 HG's are fantastic to start with. They're a big improvement over some of the models from years ago. I remember my first model was the Tallgeese III from Endless Waltz. Whew- what a tough time I had figuring that out. The simplest designs are the best to start out with. The AEU Enact from 00 is pretty easy. I'd recommend one of them as a first.

found the post i was refering to on page 720something
Instruction pamphlet of O states that the GN Feather is a one-off thing for the original O for "Shock And Awe" purpose. But it was deemed to much of a wastage of GN Paticles for just some fancy fireworks and was left out of later designs.
But you can always use back the O's GN drive with a little creativity as demonstrated below :-

How much work would HG Gundam Dynames (http://www.bandai-hobby.net/gundam00/product/hg/gundam_dynames.html) take to build? It's the suit I personally like most and would like to build it if possible, but I'm a complete beginner. Frankly I don't have much interest in Exia, and not a whole lot of time and money either. Is HCM Pro Dynames (http://www.bandai-hobby.net/gundam00/product/hcm/gundam_dynames.html) any good?
Which models are easiest to build and uses least additional supplies like paint or cutters? And decent quality?
Sorry for my endless questions and thanks in advance to anyone who answers them! :D
You don't have to build HCM Pro.
You have to paint/colour the HG Dynames to look exactly like in the show. The building can take atleast 7 hours (that's my shortest, and I'm more of a beginner)
Haladflire65

Would it still look decent without painting? I just don't think I can get ahold of paint and have time to use it where I'm living right now.

If you're only going to build, put on stickers, and panel line, without paint at all, HG 00 is definitely a good start. I have over 10 HG 00 kits, all unpainted, built directly out of the box, minimal panel lining.
And I see you're 14. I'm 15. :) You should be able to afford most of the HG 00 kits if you're not painting them. But I recommend you to panel line at least, they'll look better.
HG Dynames is pretty easy. One of the first few kits I got, though it is not very show-accurate due to the lack of paint. 00S2 kits are more show-accurate in terms of building them without paint.
How is the designer's colour Seravee?
Is Cherudim the only one out of the three 1/100 (Designer color ver.) without the LED gimmick?

Hmm, but looking at my HG Dynames, it's nothing compared to the painted version. You might want to have a look at the unpainted version before deciding.

The Manual from "http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10097456" say the 1/100 Designer Color Cherudin kit includes the LED gimmick.
i have a question regarding protecting paint from the dust. i know where to find such clear paint but im not sure which is better to use between the dull finish or shiny finish? i dont want the model to shine like orb's akatsuki but i do want a semi metallic finish so it shines a bit while keeping the colours a bit dark.

using a clear or gloss topcoat will make ur kits more shinier as opposed to a flat or matt finish. it's kinda hard to achieve what you are describing as i'm not really proficient with painting myself. if you want a metallic finish you can buy either metallic gold or silver spraypaint from Tamiya. you'll need an undercoat of Black paint first before applying either of the above paints so that the finish is smooth
also if u use an metallic paint, u cant use any topcoat as it will ruin the finish.
hope this helps!!!:)

Hey how come black paint for an undercoat for silver/metallic paints? I've never used those paints before, but always wanted to try it. Since I usually use white/gray primer before I paint, would there be much difference if I used black?

Tamiya actually recommends spraying Black as an undercoat themselves, i believe the reason is so that the metallic silver (or gold) has a consistent finish on the painted piece. if no undercoat is used, the finish may look darker or lighter in some areas compared to the rest.
as with using primers, i havent used them before so i couldnt tell u if they would make any difference, i painted my MG Hi-nu a few months ago using metallic silver, if u look at the silver spots, u can see that the paint is consistent and even as i applied a black spray beforehand

Are those real GN Particles!!!????I never knew they exist.Wow,I guess we're paying for that huh?
:(............................that 00 is beautiful. But such luxuries can only be afforded by Kings and Queens. At least Emperor/Empresses get discounts.
I think my HG 00 just became One Year Old recently.I better buy him a cake, because I'm not getting the PG anytime soon.

I knew Bandai would take advantage of this.I'm looking forward to the manual more than the kit for any 2 Drive mention.
I always liked the color scheme more than the Susanowo,so maybe I'll give it a shot.
Question:Alright, the 00 Gundam's GN Sword II equipment has a blue crystal sensor on it right?
Well, anybody got any suggestions on what color should be used for the Trans-Am version?because there's no color guide and I have no ideas on this.

Err, those GN-Particles were likely added to the picture via photoshop, Sonic.
By the way,is that the GN-Sword III being attached to 0 Raiser?
Huh,reminds me a bit of XN Raiser......
I know its early, but I haven't seen any good poses from this PG yet, which makes me worried a bit considering how........unfortunate the 1/100 was.A shame, considering the HG was pretty great.I hope it wont dissapoint.
Still,I will be enjoying the pictures of these, that is for sure.

Looks like its attached there. I like the idea of how the 0-Raiser has equippable weapon pods... those could really up the combat capability of the 00 Raiser.
I'm going to Japan this year. Definitely picking up a couple of PG 00 with the exclusive parts. :)

Well, its been quite some time since i've bought my first airbrush and compressor and i've finally got the time to test it out. I had an Exia lying around so might as well tried experimenting on that. This is indeed the first kit i've tried fixing the seam lines, sand, primer, paint and so on. It was a real enjoyable experience for me and i've managed to learn a few things *not to mention some heartbreaking mistakes like paint chipping, fingerprints on paint, etc...*Well, here are the pics!

What I've always thought about Gundam models is that they're always looks so cool in those promotional pictures, but when you see the actual thing it just looks like... plastic.
But I think the PG 00 Raiser's pretty awesome.
Correction: Very awesome.
So, I started my first attempt at a painted gunpla.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v108/Nerroth/RebornsProject1.jpg
I don't have time to get it all done in one sitting - which is the first time that's happened, too. Usually, I can get through the build, whip out the Gundam Marker and be more or less done. Not this time.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v108/Nerroth/RebornsProject2.jpg
The Reborns has more sprues in the box than any other HG figure I've gotten so far - but then, I got my 00 and 0 Raiser models separately.
Right now, I'm trying to assemble each module bit by but, painting up the most prominent surfaces as I go, and planning to go back over to get the rest of the surface detail (and the panel lining) in once I'm finished with the build.
So far, I'm at this stage:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v108/Nerroth/RebornsProject3.jpg
I had to cheat a bit, by using the purple stickers - but I tried to paint in other details I would have otherwise used transfers for.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v108/Nerroth/RebornsProject4.jpg
If I ever work out a good way to mix clear purple (or ever see a clear purple paint to buy) I'll go back over the chest piece...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v108/Nerroth/RebornsProject5.jpg
I dunno if it's out of me being a bit more careful due to not wanting to mess up any drying paint, but I feel that the fold-out engine piece might be a little less than fully in the right position. But then, that might be just the way the model itself works.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v108/Nerroth/RebornsProkect6.jpg
I forgot to take a pic showing the Cannon visor - which really looks cool when you apply the clear green paint, actually - but I'll try to note that for next time.
So, here's hoping things will look a bit more promising by day 2!

Not bad. But the yellow you're using is in the wrong shade - it should be something like beige. Also, instead of purple paint, I suggest using a purple permanent marker. Any kind will do, they work pretty well. That's for the chest piece though, the forehead piece looks better unpainted.
And the drives are supposed to be orange, not green.

not bad at all . hes just trying to make tau twin drive suit into origiinal gn drive suit:heh:
Well, that doesn't make sense. It looks out of place as well - the green doesn't go with Reborns' colour scheme. Maybe you can panel-line over the green with a black Gundam marker, it'll look much better.

You might want to paint the edges of the chest crystal purple, so it looks less like a clear piece when viewed from the front.

Bandai showing off their record of expecting to achieve nearly 5000,000 kits sold for their SD line in their local and oversea market by the end of this year, thanks to their ROTK franchise. No doubt they will continue to milk the ROTK line for the near future as it's much easier to design a SD kit than a standard real size kit for a mech.
frankly speaking...i got no regrest on getting sd sanguo kits. the kits are great & fun doing it XD

doesnt tamiya have clear paints that can be mixed? i still need to get some light bllue for 00 gn swordII but you might get away with it by mixing red clear and blue clear paints?? i have yet to use clear colors but did cheat with throne drei by mixing normal colors.

Anyone have any insight of the Rick Dom and Gouf Custom from MS IGLOO. I really want either one but dalong didnt have much of a rating for it but they look nice.

Wouldn't that give you clear purple in the end? Tamiya's clear colors get darker with more coats so a light blue would be one or two coats at best. Otherwise you can source around for markers or highlighters for the light blue.

Basically recolors of the Dom and Gouf Custom released ages ago, with new decal sets. Look up the Dom to be sure, since there are subtle differences from it and the Rick Dom.

The yellow might be a little different than advertised, but I like the slightly richer paint on the model, personally.
Also, I coloured the Drives based on what one of the painted-up suits in... I think it was either Dengeki Hobby or Hobby Japan (I forget which, but the store I got the Reborns in carries both - and I saw it there).
Plus, I think the green looks well on the suit.
(I like to think of it as a standby mode, when it's not producing particles. Kind of like an inverse traffic-light system, or something!)
You might want to paint the edges of the chest crystal purple, so it looks less like a clear piece when viewed from the front.
As regards the purple, I'm not too sure which option to go for at the moment. I do want to have it cover the clear plastic, rather than be hidden behind it... I might try the marker option if I can't find a good way to paint something on.
Oh, and also:

as if shipping wasnt through the roof already.... for 3500 i could buy another MG kit. but then again this is Bandai, to them 'greedy' isn't part of their vocabulary
on an another note, anyone know of a site which will ship spraypaint internationally? i ordered from HLJ recently and all of a sudden they cancel my shipment cos they 'just' realised that they couldnt send spraypaints... YOU'VE BEING SELLING IT FOR YEARS, HOW THE HECK DO U 'JUST' REALISE??????
Sounds like the ban on shipping flammable materials and objects is finally taking effect. I don't spray paint but no topcoats is going to be bad anyway.
Nice Reborns there! I got down to continuing mine, but broke one of the beam sabers >_> No matter, I'll fix it with some superglue when I get my hands on some.
Another thing: I just painted my Arche's beam sabers today, and tried to pose them with it. Even when I take off the Buster Sword and Shield, the legs can't go far. I know it can't do the 00 split, but the Fang containers are really heavy and weighing down on the legs, so I can't pose the legs too far apart. Any recommendations? Thanks!

I can still point out certain faults here in regards to the PG OOR sample here :-
1) Why does the panelings seems to be mainly concerntrated on the O Raiser unit now. The OO, in contrast, seems too "clean".
2) Either the legs of the OO is too short or it's arms are too long. In any case, the arm seem to be reaching the knee, making the entire unit too ape-ish instead of humanoid.
3) Look at the circled part below :-
http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/9439/1255014439577.jpg (http://img199.imageshack.us/i/1255014439577.jpg/)
This is what I suppose is a GN Particle Radiator Fin from the anime. And it looks to be too certain to be made up of what can be call one single plastic instead of multiple pieces in which PG is well-known for. Evidence of Bandai scrimping on parts to maximise their profit here.

From ngeekhiong:
- Pelvis joint can swing upwards (is a die cast part I believe)
- Plated parts for the blade of GN Sword II
- Linked component between the shoulder joint and shoulder block can be observed
- Clear part set will be a Bandai Hobby Online Shop limited item. Pre-order period is between September 28th and January 2010. 3,500 Yen (inclusive of tax) I think.
Wow,it's beautiful...........
Now if it will only have great articulation and posability and it really will be perfect.

This is what I suppose is a GN Particle Radiator Fin from the anime. And it looks to be too certain to be made up of what can be call one single plastic instead of multiple pieces in which PG is well-known for. Evidence of Bandai scrimping on parts to maximise their profit here.
Actually, that's, um, the outer plating of the GN-Shield.
EDIT: Also, through comparing the above picture with the official lineart of the 00 Gundam, the arms and legs look to be quite in proportion. I think its just the angle of the camera that makes it look ape-ish, as depicted in Nightwing's first image.
Is he referring to the 0 Raiser's Clevical Antennas's or the GN-Shield?

I think Makube mistook the GN-Shield for the 0 Raiser's large Clavicle Antenna.

My poor wallet...
i know what ur going thru amber lol, i just recently bought a MG unicorn (yet to build) and i'm also tempted to get the PG 00 AND the MG blue astray. i have the money, but to spend so much on gundam models... i don't know lol
the PG 00 does look super kickass, 58 runners is more than twice a normal MG kit so its quite a lot, for some reason i'm tempted to get the clear parts as it seems that the clear parts have light shades of different colours which will make the model look better rather than if all the clear parts were just plain clear

Actually, that's, um, the outer plating of the GN-Shield.
After looking at the rest of the promo pix, you're right.
But my point about Bandai slacking off still stands, I mean you will expect them to add more internal details via more parts instead off just slapping all of them onto one single piece. Especially after what they demand of you in term of monetary terms.
PS :- The more I look at it, the more I think the Perfect Grade is just an experimental platform Bandai is using for their MG and HG line. And people who buy the PG is funding their R&D department.
Now,the point I'm trying to put across here is to expect a MG of the OOR to be better looking than the PG here at a more economical rate as well.

Uh, maybe I'll ask my girlfriend to buy it for me :heh: lol
Eh hollow areas are a thing of HGs, not PGs but whatever. I'm not buying it so no loss to me.
I'm only interested in seeing if the joints for the drives can actually support the Raiser wings now that they pack alot more weight with a solid frame inside.

its depends upon the hg 00 series. exia was the one of the best sellers hg series and 00 raiser topped it. so 00 raiser got promoted to pg division while exia got promoted to mg division! i want to see cherudim mg or arios? what do u say guys?
I was wondering about a couple of the season 2 suits I haven't picked up yet (in HG), in terms of quality. (There are a couple, like the Arche Gundam, Susanowo, Ahead Smultron and so forth that for one reason or another haven't really grabbed me, in terms of wanting to go and buy/build them.)
How is the HG Susanowo as a kit, to pick one example? (Or the Arche, to pick another?)
Arche > Susanowo.
The latter has a number of problems so waiting for the Masurao might be a good idea. The design's been changed to (hopefully?) fix the problems the Susanowo had. Arche has more stickers and requires alittle bit more painting than the Susanowo as well.

At such rate, I fear the next 00 MG would be Gundam 00. At least once they should release all the Mg for the 4 main Gundams. Of course, I find it extremely improbable. Sandrock, Heavyarms, Deathscythe from Wing and Duel or Aegis from SEED... though these were extremely popular series and the characters piloting these were very popular, too and had their own fanbases, they still did not release MGs.

It had always been East Asia and Japan. That part is not surprising, at all. East Asia is Japan's biggest export market for pop culture goods. The Western market is but a fraction of that.

Or rather in this scenarior, ROTK is a well known masterpiece throughout East Asia that is read by the Chinese, Korean, Japanese and even the Vietnamese.
This particular SD line is just a perfect blend of Old-Meet-New combination where you have an old classic marrying a new pop culture accessible almost by all. Those unfamiliar with Gundam will at least know who the ROTK characters are and will be enticed by the design to pick up a kit or 2 especially with the cheap pricing.

Hey there's always hope. Look at Infinite Justice; it got the MG treatment, and the Justices have always been second to the Freedoms. But (arguing with myself), if you're ever gonna see something other than Setsuna's Gundams becomes MGs, then they're gonna have to suddenly become AS popular as the mains, or do something so stupidly godly in the movie. :D

What kind of problems are you referring to, regarding the Susanowo?
1) Lack of open hands for the ever-awesome cross hand pose. Masurao has them.
2) Side binders connected to main body with a very loose poly cap piece. Drops out often.
That said, Susanowo has its good points as well, like the inclusion of the blue wire, the Flag face (albeit unpainted) and most importantly, it requires minimal painting. Just requires 3 stickers.
And I wouldn't say Arche is better. I own both, and they have their own share of flaws.

A bit more articulation at the shoulders and waist as compared to the Thrones. The legs can split a bit further but not much change for the legs. >.>
EDIT:
Issues? Well, the arm will sag after a while holding the buster sword and the legs can't do the 00 split which it really need for the feet sabers to be more dynamic to pose. Yep.

In defence of the PG OO, I will say the hampering of it's articulation is cause by the GN Condensener on the elbow and knee. If we are to remove those....
But there's no excuse to the lack of mechanical details, are they ? However, I just somewhat might forgive Bandai for slacking off if those Condenser is removable to show some inner details like how it's possible for the SD Exia and SD O.....
PS :- Anyone having 2nd thoughts about buying the PG OO now ?
I'm wondering if that's the complete inner frame of the 00.. not too flattering if the PG version still has to reply on armor pieces to bridge articulation points or other frame parts. Especially the upper arm and upper torso areas.
Wouldn't that give you clear purple in the end? Tamiya's clear colors get darker with more coats so a light blue would be one or two coats at best. Otherwise you can source around for markers or highlighters for the light blue.
thanks, i guess i'll need to put a few layers of that on the parts then.

Nah, I think it refers to the HGUC release. The most probable candidate for the MGs is the Delta Plus, given that it was favoured in the UC modelization polls before. Banshee is very likely as well, but I wonder whether they're gonna fix up some minor engineering and then apply it into subsequent production runs of the normal Unicorn, much like what happend to the joints of the Z gok and Mk-II Ver.2.

I'm still looking for a pure Gundam modeling forum, or at least a Gundam forum that has a subforum just for Gunpla, but I haven't found an active one.
Kind sad that the most active Gunpla forum I've found is a thread in a subforum...
So if anybody can point me in the direction of an active Gunpla forum that has a good mix of both modders and collectors, that would be great.

They don't make 'em like they use to. No matter articulation or detail wise.
I dont think thats 100% accurate on the articulation, it seems the person has it all bent funny and in unnecessary ways like the right foot. and the table top isn't even.

With the recent release of the model kits from the VS Astray series, what is the likelyhood of a Sword Calamity?
MakubeX2

It does look like the PG 00 can't bend its knees as far as the PG Strike, but how did you tell how articulated are the 00's fingers from the photo?
I didn't mentioned anything about the fingers, did I ?
Amazon Japan is offering a 37% discount on the PG 00 kit now, though, which with free shipping, looks to be a darn good deal.
For huge discounts such as this example, I'm sure the PG OO will be worth it. But I'll not pay the full price Bandai demanded.
I dont think thats 100% accurate on the articulation, it seems the person has it all bent funny and in unnecessary ways like the right foot. and the table top isn't even.
No, you can clearly see a piece of armour on the back of the left knee getting in the way. That is a part of the Condenser, hence I make mention that if the Condenser is removable.....
With the recent release of the model kits from the VS Astray series, what is the likelyhood of a Sword Calamity?
Probably the same as the likelihood of the original Calamity getting a 1/100 model kit. The only reason for that is because the VS Astray models are rehashes of previously released kits. Calamity, or any other of the original trio, have yet to get 1/100 at all. But still, I'd be up for seeing the 1/100s of the three (if it ever happens). :D
I didn't mentioned anything about the fingers, did I ? I agree with vektar, and think the pose done by whoever did the PG 00 kit is awkward; I would even make it "awkward as hell" instead. :) It's like a [close] opposite of a Bandai PR photo to make people want to buy the kit.
Judging from that 00 photo, it looks like the model is being twisted at the waist to its right, its lower part of the right leg shifted to the left more than the Strike's, and its crotch pushed out - although I can't tell if that is because the 00 is being pushed down and forward. (I'm assuming that (1) the photo's perspective is not weird and (2) the photographer knows what he is doing and not just taking photos at a con. :))
If that's the case, the 00's overall articulation looks decent (even though I'll still wait for a candid review by, say, Dalong first) if not great. That's why I asked about the fingers since the Strike's fingers' articulations were great and can be posed in that "V for victory" shot.
For huge discounts such as this example, I'm sure the PG OO will be worth it. But I'll not pay the full price Bandai demanded. Bandai doesn't do a lot of marketing for the overseas market, does it? And shops like HLJ do not give discounts till they want to clear out their stock, which is too bad, IMHO.
I haven't seen a thorough review about the PG 00 kit out yet to say if it is worth the full MSRP, to be honest. In terms of discounts, damn near everything is offered at a discount when it first comes out since shops want the stuff out the door. The PG Strike and MG Nu kits were discounted in the same way if I remember right.
does the exia r2 repair gn sword III fit the 00 gundam. i got the normal 00 gundam with sword II. i would like to get the gn sword III but i think its only availble to 00 raiser gn swIII and exia repair. if it will fit from exia repair i might consider getting that model too, it was really tempting to buy when i saw the kit.

If you want the complete complete HG 00 Gundam set, wait for the HG 00 Raiser+GN Sword III kit. [Man,that's a long name to type,I'm not going to ge tused to it].The HG Trans-Am Raiser kit also provides the same set of equipment, just in Trans-Am colors.
The only way for you to get the GN Sword III is to but the upcoming kit that will be released in less than a week.If you do not have 0 Raiser, the kit will also give the GN Shield,The GN Sword Staff Connector. And in addition the GN Sword II Beam Sabers. The alternative is to get the Trans-Am Raiser version, which is the exact same kit but in Trans-Am.
The Exia R2's GN Sword Kai is a totally different sword. It's based on the original GN Sword in physical design mostly and is grey in color with green edges while the GN Sword III is white with green edge. The Gn Sword Kai does not have a beam sword wither, which the GN Sword III does.
I havent tried to see whether they fit,but I'm guessing it does not fit perfectly. It will be probably be the same as trying to put the original GN Sword on 00.
If you already own HG Exia, your basically buying another one that is mostly similar anyways,so either way you going to be re-buying a kit.
IF you feel bad about buying another 00,well......Bandai played their cards well.I've already own 5 HG 00s,going to be 6 with the upcoming kit.I guess I love the 00 Gundam/Raiser that much.
At least I didnt have to bother with the lackluster 1/100.
Does anyone know where to get a MS In Action Kyrios in Singapore, and how much it costs?
Anyone?

thanks for the information sonic and bhus12. atm i only have got the 144 00 gundam and 144 0 raiser separately. if anything id probably buy the r2 repair as i dont have any exia atm. if the r2 gnIII is too lose then i can probably figure out a way to make it a better fit on my 00.
btw are there many obscure models out there? ie those featured in manga only or small gundam ova like green frame astray or the variation MS in stargazer. i did see a green frame astray at one of the model shop that sells gunpla here.

Its not both the GN-Sword III,they're actually different.R2's is called GN Sword Kai and is really different from 00's physically. Its almost the same as normal Exia's GN Sword.
But if your willing to have to use that as a substitute than go ahead than.It would be a good buy if you do not have HG Exia already but if you do,than the new 00 Raiser kit would give you the GN Sword II/III beam sabers at least.

Very nice custom by the way, that is what a mass production GN Flag should look like.
You can check with TFH.
TFH? What's that? :heh:
Anyway, don't try fitting R2's GN Sword III on 00. Firstly, it doesn't fit, secondly, it looks terrible, trust me. It doesn't go with 00's design.

im getting tempted to buy the r2 repair again, though for the reason to get an exia. unfortunately im not enough of a gundam nut to get two of the same model to get a single sword. gn sword II will have to do for my 00 gundam. the only time i would consider getting a second model of a MS is for the purpose to give it a custom paint job.
Since you dont have the original Exia, then I suggest you get the R2 then......and maybe try to see if the GN Sword Kai fits a bit.
It wont look nice but at least you will have Exia regardless.
R2 does not come with beam sabers except for that white plastic connected to the hilt,so if your expecting to get some attach clear pink sabers that will fit 00's hilt,be forwarned that your not going to get any.Just a warning,in case you were expecting any since the 00 Gundam and 0 Raiser HG does did come with them.
the gn sword kai wont be stable when held by 00 because it can't "clip" to the forearm of 00 the GN sword III clips on that groove where u can mount the shields on the bottom of its forearm where as the exia's clips on the groove on top, even if you remove that part, the handle for exia's gn sword doesnt take up all the space inside the hand which will cause it to wiggle around/

thank you everyone for the info on 00 and R2 exia. i'll have to wait for another r2 to come to a store near me. the only model that i have with clear beam saber atm is 144 gaia gundam, its design doesnt fit 00 but it fits in 00 hands so it wont be too bad in the end if i want that effect. btw are there any drill bits smaller than 1/16? my 144 blitz gundam has no option for clear beam sabers but a slightlly smaller drill and gaia's clear saber should do the trick. the gunpla shop i go to probably still has a 144 0 gundam ACD that hasnt been sold yet. im probably going to get it tomorrow. does it include the WOL effect?

Aside from those...
No beam saber part for the original colour. So if you want it to have pose with a beam saber, you need to borrow the (pink/red) beam part from other models.
But I think it's no big of deal.

AD as in Anno Domini right? If so, then yes.
The level of detail and articulation on AD HG's(especially the recent ones) just screams MG. Well, almost. I mean, HG's a few years back didn't even have abdomen articulation.
