To sum up the very big parts:
Amalgam goes on the offensive against Mithril.
Mithril's HQ in Australia is destroyed
Melida Island is invaded, Amalgam's forces completely overwhelm Mithril's forces
Tessa and the surviving crew members barely escape from Melida Island via Tuatha de Danaan
...all in the meanwhile

AS fighting in the streets of Tokyo
Leonard vs Sousuke
Sousuke loses
Chidori relents to be kidnapped to save Sousuke

Ah, thanks for the clarification. ^^ I was talking to the translator of the novels over at Boku-Tachi, and the quote she gave me was, "[Sousuke] had lost everyone that he had thought he had gained...his war companions, his surrogate father. And the girl he loved."
The ending also seems pretty frustrating; what a cliffhanger!

I have no clue about the last chapter of "A Dancing Very Merry Christmas" except this...Could I safely assume that the girl Sousuke's talking about was Chidori?????
Yep, the reference is to Chidori.
Judging how popular FMP is (particularly in ths US), we might be able to see this animated as a fourth season...perhaps.

Probably not, it'll more than likely concede with the DVMC novel part then, as kj said, probably have another season dealing with Tsuduku. That would only seem logical, cliffhanging points at the end of DVMC would keep interest for another season.
Oh well, just my take on it all.

Well, only the author can know that answer.
Being that the top three best selling light-novels (novels targeted to middle/high-school students) for 2003 were:
1. "Maria-sama ga Miteru"
2. "Iria no Sora, UFO no Natsu"
3. "Full Metal Panic"
I assume Mr. Gatoh would want to continue for at least several more volumes.
By the way, "Iria no Sora, UFO no Natsu" is a very sad-but-touching story about a middle school student (Asaba Naoyuki) falling in love with a mysterious girl (Iriya Kana) who test-pilots a UFO for the military. This novel will be animated as a six-part OVA beginning next January. I highly anticipate to watch this, and please keep an eye out for this marvelous story.

omg.. after reading this spoiler. i cant go to sleep... the story seems to be very exiciting as well as touching.
How many fmp novels have you guys read in UK/US? damn man... I m a huge fmp fan, but in Hong Kong, they have only translated the first three novels into chinese. Omg i want to read all the novels now!! I CANT SLEEP!! :uhoh:

You guys will be waiting a long time. There was at least 2 years between fumoffu and TSR. So I'd say we're going to have to wait at least another 2 years for the next series.

Its so =.=... wait like 1-2 year for next series which only has like 13 episodes >.> Why can't they make it like 24 episodes.. I know if the story drags too long, it'll get boring but 13 episodes passes very fast I miss FMP >.<

I am a Japanese living in Japan, so these light novels are rather accesible to me as they are written in my home language - Japanese.
As for English translations of these novels, I have no specific answer, but it is to my knowledge that a certain fangroup is doing fan translations of several of the novels. Perhaps someone might point you into the right direction.

I'm not sure if it's safe to post links, so all I'll say is Boku-tachi. Yahoo and Google may help you in your quest to acquire translations :heh:

It's a manga based on END OF DAY BY DAY's story ;) (which was used for the anime Second raid...)

That would probably be the best thing to do if you want to follow cronological order. Sigma is a manga that basically covers TSR, with a few minor differences (such as the sex of the characters) but in general the same thing.

Well, poor Mithril, but just the fact that I didn't know about these sequels to the novels has made me t3h h4ppy.

Thanks for the hint on the translations page. It sucks that it's pretty hard to find these mangas around. I had a pretty hard time finding DearS and eventually started buying the novels because they were easier to find than the translated ones <_<
It sucks to be an otaku and not know japanese, that's for sure.

hmm actually, what's the difference between ppl calling sousuke "sagara" (kazama calls him Sagara) and "sousuke"(Chidori calls him sousuke)?

its out of respect to call the by there last name. sosuke adresses kaname by saying "chidori, that is her sername" kaname dosnt like to be called by her lastname.

Chidori stops calling Sousuke "Sagara-kun" in the anime after she wakes up at the hospital after the first battle against Gauron. It's probably since both of them have already some sort of friendship.
Did Sousuke lose big time like against Lt.Cruzo or how? I wonder if Leonard was that much better.Man and just when I got the impression that Sousuke managed to operate Lambda Driver.
Hey, somebody can tell me how many series in FMP manga? I know only original FMP(8 volumes out), Sigma (2 volumes out) and two series what names I don't know. Where I can get scans of english versions?

Sousuke just said "I like you", "I don't understand it, but I'm attracted to you" and "The one who changed my entire world was you" to Kaname
:D This chapter made me very happy as a Kaname-Sousuke fan

I wouldn't really say dumbass. Remember that Mithril was caught unawares(suprisingly so) with Amalgam's offensive -- this organization got it all planned, nobody could come to Sousuke's aid.
I also think that Tessa's brother is not an easy opponent, he's whispered and probably has a better grasp of the Lambda technology than Sousuke. Also remember that Sousuke loses his calm when Kaname's in danger, that's probably a huge factor.
I haven't really finished the Tsuduku On My Own and I'm also just relying on spoilers I've read somewhere else. If anybody has a better explanation please correct me.
Wait until Burning One Man Force.....maybe you'd say he's more 'helpless' there than he is in Tsuduku On My Own
