somehow i think they will not be making a season 2 of this good peice of docu drama-comedy.
defianatly a must watch.
I'd have to say the ending wasn't what I exactly expected, a bit funny, but thats about it. I would definitley watch the 2nd seoson if ever made. Great series overall, 2 thumbs up.

My feelings were more of a let down. It left a lot of unanswered questions. I think they are going to make a 2nd season since they left the ending wide open to the various plots.

Hmm... Ep 24 was a good "ending", but it really doesn't try to tie up the storylines for the characters... Oh well. I still enjoyed the second half a lot and I look forward to a second season if there is one.
Overall I felt there were definetly alot of wasted episodes, and lame moments. But when the show was clicking with real story lines it was really good.
I'd say it's a pretty good show, and I'd definetly check out a 2nd season.
Well Brightman, as you can see there would probally be one...
I bet its really chapters... 1st chapter is the 1st season
2nd chapter, if there is one(hopfully)
Also, yeah story does not fit in place, especially with Suzu
Wow, i wasted 24 epsides worth of my life watching this crap... Thank god it wasn't 25.

Lol, way to kill the mood. ^_^;
I absolutely love ep. 24. It's hilarious and touching, and the artwork looks fantastic throughout. I also thought it did a fantastic job of wrapping up the current season (I say "current" because I refuse to believe that there won't be a continuation >_>).
Tetsu and Saya are absurdly cute.

It was a great series, but the ending isn't a real ending, too much question left and it would be easy to start anotehr season with Suzu.
How can we know if a second season will be created?

Yeah, I'm sure there's a lot going on in the second manga series which PMK didn't even begin to address (psycho Suzu, for one thing).
Um.... I wish I could tell you the answer to that. Hopefully someone will enlighten us. ^_^;

Way too many questions left to be unanswered...GONZO didnt do that good of a job on PMK IMHO...
Just a few questions that comes to my mind:
*Who were the magic users and WTH did they have to do with the story?
*What's the story behind Souji? I'm sure there is one cuz it's been hinted in many eps...but just not fully explored.
*What about Suzu...that wasnt realli an ending for Suzu...
*What is the story behind the female ninjas?
Hmm....those are just a few that I can think of rite now...@@""....REALLY hope there's gonna be a second season or something
I wonder if Tetsu is ever going to go sailing :P I think it was a good ending, even with all the loose ends.
anyway i haven heard from the fan club's organiser for a long time ...gone with the wind
I'm BACK! Sorry everyone! I managed to screw up my password access when I tried to access from a remote computer without remembering my password....
Argh! I've been gone so long......!!!
Man.. Am i the only one pissed at what happen between yoshida and tetsu.. It doesnt seems fitting that tetsu gets to be the one who killed yoshida.. I mean.. Come on.. Its tetsu first real fight and he gets to kill yoshida..
If I am not mistaken, Souji DID finish off Yoshida. Tetsu stabbed him in the leg and chopped off his arm. But when he was off guard Yoshida moved to kill him with the blade in his mouth and so that was when Okita acted
Sorry for vanishing for so long! I was starting to read through everything when, at the end of page 6, I suddenly realized there was 26 pages! Good Lord! But I'm glad PMK got so much attention :)
Anyways, I agree that too much was left unanswered so I'm gonna just pray FERVENTLY that there will be a sequel...
They CAN'T run out of ideas! They're using history as a guideline!!!
GAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
But I gotta say 23 was genius. I love the set up for Suzu's psychosis.....
im pretty sure there are oav's
i remember reading that somewhere.....

wow, wat a great anime... but it left too many things open-ended. i do hope there will be a 2nd season or even a movie, better yet, BOTH.
man, oddly enough... wit the "pinky swear," kinda made me thing tetsu will be come kenshin(i know they are not related) but its just that its easy to imagine tetsu becoming kenshin. (but thats just my opinion)
If there's a second season, then yeah, this is a perfectly good anime. (save for the magic users as someome mentioned, wtf was the point of them again?) If there is no continuation, well, then its a POS. :(

Haha, yeah. When I saw that, I started thinking "Hmm, how Kenshin-esque of him..."
Too bad Tetsu's on the wrong side. He even has the same hair color. ^_^

I feel pretty much the same way. This series didn't really get interesting to me until the end of episode 13. Then it just got pretty good. I'm happy with the ending theres not much else I'd like to see except for more of Suzu going psycho.

I don't know, I think this show will suffer similar fate as Spiral and Matantei Loki Ragnarok, as anime shows ended abrupt because of still ongoing manga series.

i didn't see Matantei Loki Ragnarok but i sure know, that spiral sucked hard. at the beginning, i thought: "hey, looks fun." and downloaded more. but it got more and more abstruse with the story being full of holes, repeating jokes that weren't funny to begin with and overall getting uninteresting to the point where i wanted to watch the series to the end just to know what the heck those *insert bad word* bladechildren are and why they are cursed or whatever. what happened to his brother and what was he doing? NOTHING was answered (in the anime) and for me there wasn't anything worthwile to this series to make up for it, since the drawings weren't that special and as i said before the story was just bad. if i ever have regret watching a series to the end, then it's spiral.
this is not the case with peacemaker. pm was full of cool/funny/sad moments and i liked most episodes. yes, i'd like to know more about some points from the story and i disliked that fantasy-stuff, that was really out of place, but pm is SO much more worth watching than spiral. at least it has SOME kind of ending.
edit: but i really liked the spiral intro song o_O

*nods* Yes, that's certainly a possibility. I guess it's better than having the show catch up to the manga and then go off on random tangents for a while. *coughKenshincough*
Either way.... episode 24 didn't leave that many loose ends. I don't see how they could have provided more closure, considering that so much of the manga was never animated.

A fitting end for a great series in my opinion, many people say the left alot of things open but I kinda felt we jumped in the middle of a story from the start and now we're leaving it the same way. So we get a snapshot of what's going on focused around Tetsu. Many possibilities exist for season two, especially considering many introduced characters never really had a prupose (thus giving this anime a snapshot feeling). However it's still one of the better ones available on fansub right now, the only thing I didn't like is the magic thing somewhere in the middle because that was totally out of place. Apart from that excellent show!

I agree entirely...it has been left somewhat open-ended so we can hope that the series was successful enough for another series to be produced.
We know there's more to the story - even though i haven't read the manga, someone posted it on here that this was only the first half of the story :)

wahey I just started watching two weeks ago and finally saw ep 24. this was an amazing anime. I especially loved the art style. Now I keep wanting more. :D Well I got over Full Metal Panic so I'll get over this but for now....
I got a question for you wise folks out there. Who the heck was the dude who kept had his servant/ninja send dead people after the shinsengumi? He also(well his ninja did) hired the gay bar dancer and shot them fire arrows at Hijikata, Souji and Saitou in the mansion? I couldn't figure out where he fit into the whole shinsengumi vs choshou saga?
Thanks.

I loved the ending! I didn't feel like anything was left unresolved . . . I thought the point of the series was that Tetsu had to decide whether to avenge his parents' deaths or become a "peacemaker" and use his power to make people happy. (How many series have you seen where a young boy starts out with a goal and then decides he really doesn't want to go through with it? Haha!)
And I thought the point of the whole thing with Suzu was just to illustrate that even if you have a good reason to kill someone, you're going to make someone else sad (I felt so bad for him!!) which is why it's better to be a peacemaker. In the end, revenge isn't really constructive at all.
What about Tatsunosuke though? Why did he want Tetsu to be weaker?

which subbers did u guys follow? i was watching AOne and didn't remember the "wheres you head" in episode 23 but lunar has it in. it didn't have that on the AOne sub... did Aone just reword it to what they used so that younger viewers dont get all freaked out??
What about Tatsunosuke though? Why did he want Tetsu to be weaker?
I think it was more of a subconscious wish. Tatsu fears that he'll no longer be able to protect his little brother, and so he wants Tetsu to stay the same (without becoming stronger or more independent).
did Aone just reword it to what they used so that younger viewers dont get all freaked out??
By that point in the show, most "younger viewers" would already have been quite freaked out.
After all, there's Ayu-nee's death, the scene where Hijikata interrogates Masuya, Susumu slicing off people's fingers, etc.

I must have skipped the 'head detached' part in the middle and went right to the end and saw that his head was still there. ^_^; Heck, the pace of this anime was kind of weird that I started watching it same way I was watching IY and PoT. In other words, 5 min. each ep. :D

Just watched the finale. I must say I really enjoyed it. I too hope there is a second season, but if not, I think I'm satisfied with how much they did. Episode 24 was really quite touching in parts, especially the parts with Saya, and it was humorous too. I particularly liked how Tetsu kept asking if he could make tea. :)
Overall, it's a good series. Not good enough for me to burn to cd's and watch again, but I definitely enjoyed it. And about the "magic" subplot, while I didn't like it persay, I definitely have fond memories of some of the weirder parts.

I take it OVAs have better animation? though this was already superb..better than a lot of other series I follow.
I really liked the part in Ikeda House where Kondou San and Okita San are surrounded and the camera rotates around Kondou San as he fights off enemies. It looked kinda like a stylish sumaurai game or something. :D

Nope, there are other PMK threads. I just posted in one devoted specifically to A-Keep's fake PMK special, and I've also seen one about the possibility of a second season.
The ending of the series really was kind of a let down i was hoping for a suzu vs peace maker showdown but other than that it was a great and very accurate description of the times.... It blended to me with its comedy and action two thumbs up

Suzu becomes the main villain in the Peace Maker Kurogane manga (which is the sequel to Shinsengumi Imon Peace Maker; most of the anime's storyline is taken from the events of SIPM). So you could always try reading that.

It's not so much a new episode as a parody fansub of a previously released episode in the series (the one where Tetsu is taken to the brothel). For me, the reworked opening that blended in Carl Douglas's old song "Kung Fu Fighting" was one of the better parts.

Some of the jokes got a little old, but the part where they poked fun at Kenshin and other series was absolutely priceless.

i just finished the series and now im depressed because its over
I just thought that I would throw in my two cents and I have to say that this show is awesome! Now that I have seen the whole series, any impatience I had waiting for some of the plot issues to resolve (i.e. Testsu and a sword, etc.) is completely gone. This show is great and I recommend it to anyone! :)
I found Peace Maker Kurogane great. I don't see why people don't like it.
The first season did an awesome job to set itself up, ESPECIALLY with character development... an awesome job on that. Let's hope there will be more seasons.

A second season is only a faint possibility, but a good deal of manga storyline remains. There are two PMK manga series--one called Shinsengumi Imon Peace Maker, which contains the arc about Yoshida, and its sequel, Peace Maker Kurogane. SIPM has ended, but Peace Maker Kurogane is still running.

Huh. I think its over but there is a possibility that it will continue, like with all anime series that just recently ended. It also depends on how popular and how much money they have. I would greatly appreciate a new season of PMK as I fully enjoyed the first eps of it. :)

Finally, I managed to find an active PMK thread. (Even though the series finished a month ago)
The series is great, it stays true to the manga, except the early appearance of Saito and Sakamoto Ryoma. The necromancer episodes are just pure nonsense, IMHO, just an excuse to raise Saito's profile in the series as an excorcist (described in the manga as well), and gives him something to do, since Saito's not supposed to appear till the sequel. Ryoma is just funny like hell.
Nanae Chrono's Okita is probably the cutest and most feminine Okita I've ever seen. <3 It's not hard to guess that BL fodder exists between him and Hijikata.
The OP and ED are just impressive, for a few days while downloading the series, I'd go "You gonna feel so!" or "HEY JIMMY!!" lol The BGM is also quite enjoyable.
Regarding the Ikedaya scene, Tetsu sliced off Yoshida's right arm, but it was Okita that finished him off. The anime didn't show it clearly, but the manga does, showing Okita slicing Yoshida's head off his body. The anime has toned down in terms of goriness here, hence causing confusion for me and others for a while whether Tetsu killed or not.
The second series, should there be one, would now focus on the downfall of the Shinsengumi, it seems. Especially Hijikata's fallout with Yamanami. And Suzu's revenge on the Shinsengumi.
Manga spoilers below
I've read two volumes of the sequel, and quite impressed how Nanae combined these two elements together.
i.e. Suzu secretly giving false rumours to Yamanami, forcing Yamanami to flee, and eventually killed by Okita. Thus slowly plotting their downfall from within as well as without. The summoned general thingy seen in the necromancer eps is now with Suzu. Looks like Suzu's into necromancing as well.
And seeing the manga, I'm quite amazed how much Tetsu has grown, he's definately excorcised his demons, but Saito says a new shadow now looms over him, that of Suzu.

i finally watched the entire pmk series and was left, hoping to find out what Suzu would do about tetsu killing his master. to my dismay, the last episode did not fulfill my expectations and i'm now interested in knowing what is gonna happen next. suzu sitting in the dark aisle holding the head of her master with the black demonic cat did not leave me with a satisfied feeling that the series actually ended...upon reading up the previous sections of this thread I found out some interesting info, eg this anime being actually historically correct and Suzu resorting to dark magic to deal with the shinsengumi. (the black cat was trying to find an owner you reckon?) It did be interesting to see what other things you guys have mentioned about the downfall of the shinsengumi...
I was wondering where you guys get hold of the sequel manga episodes...really would like to know what happens next. And yes, i Agree with someone who said earlier on that continuing the anime would indeed be too painful, can't imagine okita-sama dying of TB at the age of 27, esp when they portray him in that manner in the anime (well most of the shinsengumi ppl died at a young age xcept saitou and shinpachi who lived till the 19th century if im not wrong)...
i enjoyed PMK thoroughly and i'm unhappy with the fact in ended to abruptly. PMK is virtually the fist samurai flick i've seen among all the other unlicensed anime i've been watching..and i find myself wanting to watch more of this sorta thing...i guess rurouni kenshin is on my list now..
but before that i would like to know a true ending of the PMK anime, so would someone be thoughtful enough to reply with a link to some manga scantalations that are translated to english.

and btw i would like to state this, been bugigng me for a while now...
the 3 occasions that were totally left untold...
1) Remember when hijikata was out, and the shinsengumi had an event, a competition where there was running? Well to end that, they were meant to have a battle, well we didn't see any of that.
2) What the heck happened to the gay okita lookalike? He didn't burn with the white faced moron (why was he in the anime in the first place).
3) Remember when Tetsunosuke was forced into the house by Yoshida where he set fire to reenact the menacing nightmares tetsu has?? Yoshida could've easily killed him, but they did not show how that ended..next thing we know tetsunosuke has been petrified and seeked refuge in his measly cupboard.

I disagree, Okita was also coughing up blood in the manga, but still he found the strength to go up and save Tetsu from becoming a demon. He later told Tetsu he needs to keep his promise "of holding a sword to protect, not to kill", and later on, Tetsu made the same promise to Saya. If Tetsu really killed Yoshida, those scenes wouldn't make sense.
1) Remember when hijikata was out, and the shinsengumi had an event, a competition where there was running? Well to end that, they were meant to have a battle, well we didn't see any of that.
That's an anime only filler, save the parts where Okita trained with Tetsu, and that "battle" at the end was only a training competition "just for fun".
2) What the heck happened to the gay okita lookalike? He didn't burn with the white faced moron (why was he in the anime in the first place).
He's not supposed to be in the anime together with that pathetic moron, they were just there as plot device to give Saito something to do, since Saito's not supposed to appear till the sequel. The most worthless fillers. I wouldn't care less whether fake Okita died or not.
Though the animators may have the necromancer who escaped work for Suzu in the sequel, and give some back story on how Suzu went into dark magic.
In the manga, just when Yoshida was about to finish off poor Tetsu, the people outside started noticing the fire and yelled for help. Yoshida had no choice but to escape. Tatsu had a gut feeling his brother is inside, and poured a bucket of water over himself so he could charge through the fire, there inside he found Tetsu completely petrified. It's not hard to guess that it's Tatsu that carried a devastated Tetsu back.

i was merely saying it was tetsu, mind you : can you run such a distance with a real painfull hole in your armor while the shards are piercing in your flesh and while you are coughing up blood? throwing could be, but that wouldnt make any sense, i dont remember a samurai throwing his sword ever :twitch:

i read part of the sequel to the anime, and it trully is confusing me.
there was the part in the manga exactly like when tetsu met ryouma for the first time in the anime, him chasing ryoma, then being surrounded by a grp of ppl who tried to capture him..only in the anime all tetsu could do was watch as ryoma owned those guys while in the manga tetsu now wields a katana and does his part in trying to escape from the grasp of those men.
that leaves us a question, if the anime makers of PMK added random parts of the sequel into the anime, they may have intentions never to have a anime sequel...if they had intentions to have one, they would leave the order as it is and not messing up by adding parts of the sequel manga into the anime..
so am i right to say the anime makers ripped part of the sequel and added ryoma in the anime when in fact (originally) he's not meant to be in the anime at all?? i heard someone say this on this thread..

Thats not too far off from what happened in the animer. Yoshida finds tetsu hiding in the closet, he's about to kill him but people outside notice the fire and he has to run away.
I suppose its a bit of a stretch because he could've just struck tetsu down before running away but the whole series is filled with similar 'holes' so I guess you just take it in stride. Not saying its a bad anime, I loved it but there were too many glaring errors of the it makes no sense variety in PMK:/

Well, at least Yoshida's hesitation can be explained away by Suzu's obvious distress. The other blunders were prolly the result of transplanting parts from the PMK manga .

In real life Okita dies of Tuberculosis. That's the blood coughing up thing. So yeah if the series continued he would die in a Japanese hospital. Not on the battlefield in a glorious battle. Sorry but uh...you had to know eventually.
(If somebody posted this earlier in the thread sorry but i didn't read the whole thing)

Hmm yeah not many people enjoy this anime but I LOVE IT.
I LOVE anything Shinsengumi. Anything Okita-like is fine with me too i.e Soujiro of RK, Haku of Naruto, Sanada Yukimura of Samurai Deeper Kyo, Killua of Hunter X Hunter yada yada yada. Sometimes I wonder if the real Okita is as fine as they make him out to be.
PMK might not be the best anime Japan has to offer but I find most part of the series so funny, especially when it comes to those 3 Comedians: Shinpachi, Heisuke and Sanosuke. Yamanami can be so hilarious too.
Come to think of it, I think the girls would enjoy PMK more than the fellas because the male characters are so handsomely drawn hehe, not to mention cooooool :heh:

PMK totally Rules, its my favourite anime at the moment. I'd also love to get my hands on the manga's and the sequel mangas to see the stuff that happens later, if someone has a link to DL it it would be a great help

I recently rewatched PMK while skipping over the bits they transplanted from the PMK manga (yes, even Saitou got sacrificed). Damn, it could have been a killer 13-episode series :(

I agree. It would've been at least an above average show it were a 12-14 episoder. Too much filler kind of dragged it down. I stilled enjoyed it nonetheless it wasn't that bad really but it could have been a better show I think if it wasn't 26 episodes long.

Haha. I'm the first poster in this thread in... a year and a half. Had watched a few episodes of Peace Maker when it was first coming out, but lost interest by episode 10. Same thing with the manga, read up to a point, thought it was nice, then stopped, as it wasn't terribly outstanding.
Nearly 2 years later a random comment on the suspicious nature of the Sibling relationship (Susumu and Ayumu) in the show compelled me to go back to this series and examine it for myself, starting from the manga, and whoah damn:
I'm not going to get over Ayumu's death for a while. Sacrificing her body and life, enduring it all, not even taking her own life, and dying in the most terrible way in her brother's stead... God, its enough to make one vote in favor of keeping the death penalty around (in contrast to Peace Maker's message, but still).
In my mind, the tragedy of this death surpasses even Maes Hughes (he went down fighting, so there was less sense of helplessness and hopelessness, plus his memory lives on, continually reminded of in the story) from FMA... and that's saying alot.
Daaaaaaang what an angsty story (that is, in latter manga), reminding me that in stories, the most effective way to create emotional attachment to the characters is by tragedy and sympathy. Good Lord... I don't like the story that much actually, its fairly average all around, however, I am becoming more and more sucked in by a simple setup that never fails to tug at my heartstrings: In which the story is set in a tumultuous age, where chaos, suffering, and justice can only be enforced with violence and at cost of the good guys' own conscience and humanity; If the author is able to bring out the darkness and hopelessness of this setting well enough, even if she/he's not such a great romance writer, the mere mention of something other than depression and death is enough to make it strike deep into the readers' emotions; Saya's innocence is made more radiant by her perilous and unhappy fate as a girl sold to a brothel, Akesato's (dang I like this character) love for the man she was assigned to enhanced by their tragic circumstance, Ayumu taking her brother's place and dying in his stead..................................
That said, I ship the following couples:
Akesato-Susumu: Both ninjas, both people who hide their hearts and faces, both lost the love of their life in a very, very, very bad away. A pity that the manga doesn't do more to bring together these two non-historical characters (which would allow the author so much more flexbility to deal with them). They share common sorrows, struggles, and experiences... and both are survivors of grief.
Saya-Tetsu: I have a feeling that after so much misfortune and weeping and gnashing of teeth, the author won't torture readers further by giving these two an unhappy ending. They are the "hope of the future" after all.
Ayumu-Susumu: Damn, why'd she have to die? It's criminal, and I'll be darned if I don't write at least one fanfic dedicated to this noble and loving character. *sniffel*

Wow.

This topic is old, but I have completely finished the series, and I found it fantastic.
But all I have been wondering is that, I found this manga scan when it shows Tetsu all grown up.
o_o He...looks really hot.

I have no idea what volume the manga is from, but could anyone tell me? @O@ I would kill my self to see the entire story of this full-grown-up-really-hot-Testu story thing.

As I understand it, the manga of Peacemaker is split into two parts, the first being Shinsengumi Imoun (the Tales of Shinsengumi) which actually contains the story shown up to the point in the anime, more or less. The image you see is from volume 1 of Peacemaker Kurogane, the second set, which isn't actually set all that long after the events in the anime/first set, but the logic is that having dealt with his past burden, Tetsu entered a rapid growth spurt.

hehe, don't be fooled. that's not Tetsu. XP
it's Susumu disguised as Tetsu. some random joke even up to now i haven't figured out why so ^^;
Tetsu is still short but did have a little growth spurt.
Cal-Reflector, i know of an ordeal that's far worse than what Ayame or Maes had to go through. and she didn't even die. but it was really that nasty. >_<
I been watching peacemaker on Showtime Beyond but in the episode where Tetsunosuke and Saiya are at the shrine. He's talking about becomming a demon and Saiya writes something on the ground, Tetsunosuke yells at her don't be stupid does she want him to stay the way he is forever and Saiya runs off. What did Saiya write on the ground?

As long as we don't get a 25 year-old Tetsu. The whole point, production team, is that his psyche is deeply impacted by the fact that he looks like a young boy.
