It's funny, no seriously. It is. Since my post got wiped out, I'm gonna have to recommend it again to everyone. So watch it! Or I'll eat your kitty!
yeah, i know. i'm usually the serious anime person and i try to stay away from overused formulas like many-girls-go-after-one-guy. but i think (so far) that maburaho is not only funny, but interesting as well (good concept, story).
I already made up my mind after trying the first eps, I'm definately going to watch this ^^ The one-guy-many-girls thing is a recycled concept, but never gets old IMO ^^ Plus this one might actually have a somewhat decent storyline, witht the interesting concept of the guy only being able to use magic 8 times before he dies.
So, you guys think he'll die before the end of the series or not?

I'm actually thinking that he'll get into a situation (read: mortal danger to himself or yuna) and be forced to use that last magic point.
He probably won't die though, something about his latent magic powers and/or the power of love.:D
Either way, this is a very good anime and it deviates enough from the tired one guy/lotsa girls formula to be interesting. I'm definitely gonna be watching

Looks good so far. It's quite formulaic but it's interesting enough to get one's attention. The third episode, though, wasn't as good as the first two. I hope it gets better.

Well now everyone is living together... just not in the same room. All the girls are just down the hall, instead of in a different building.

I think you need to consider her feelings. She wants him dead (to save herself), but she's not willing to take the final step and become a murderer. Since she isn't willing to murder someone, even to prevent such a horrible fate for herself, she's hoping that her threats will serve the purpose of keeping him getting too close to her. After all, if he wanted to marry her, her family would give her to him.... yuck!

If i remember correctly i read an article in New-Type magazine thatKazuki some how uses up his 8 time magic use and dies. Then the girls team up to try to bring him back.correct me if im wrong PLz dont wanna put out false info.
It does sound interesting if that happens. I kinda enjoy the current way things are going too, though. I found Rin working at construction - well demolition - hilarious.
Wandering A.I., I think your spolier...is true. I saw it on another site as well. I'm sure there's much to look forward to in this series!
Edited: just saw that A-Keep has joined in the fun. Now we have some competition.

Anyway, whatever it is that will happen, this series has certainly entertained me so far (then again I can say that for the majority of the shows I'm watching right now)... So hopefully it'll continue to do so.

I am definetly planning on watching this one. It has a Love Hina with magic feel to it that i love. The childhood promise only adds to the similarities.
Just watched all 3EP great series... and hofully it they Yuna, Kazuki end up with each other in the middle of the series or something.... (sucks when they end up AT THE END!!!) Some one said somthing about the MANGA series, that he dont turn into ashes... but just lies around.... looking dead...^^LOL :heh:
Seems that I'm in the minority as one who doesn't really like this series. I gave it a fair try and chuckled a bit here and there, but ultimately I find myself getting bored with it. It really is just the same gag repeated over and over in every episode (the three that I've seen, anyway).

I think it's been alright so far, nothing terribly interesting in the first 3 eps. I really liked the 1st ep, but the last 2 have been less enjoyable. It's still early, and even though I didn't enjoy the last 2 eps much, there are still things to enjoy about it so I'm definately gonna stick with it, at least so far.

Pennywise, I've been keeping track and if he does do what you said, that will leave only 4 times left. He had 5 at the end of Ep3. Go back and count them.
1 time for the snow as a child.
1 time for the snow as a teenager.
1 time to save Luni from the spirit.
That leaves 5 times remaining at the end of EP3. :) I think his latent powers will soon reveal themselves after he rids himself of all 8 magic uses. I think those are like a small overlay of magic he has to use up in order to get access to the main cache. :)

That is of course, if this 8 time thing gets decreased every time he uses it, if the 8 is a total of ALL the magic he can use in his live, then he's f*cked ^^"

For those that haven't downloaded it yet, or are wondering which version is the best, I've fully updated my comparison review (located here (http://www.anime-planet.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=7279)). If you read it before, I strogly advise you to read it again - after seeing keep's version I've pretty much had to rewrite the review for ep1.
I'll also be adding a review for elite-fansubs versions of ep1 and 2 some time tomorrow evening.

Kazuki uses the last sorcery which has been left for him. Kazuki who cured Yuna's sickness had become dust and was to have disappeared. However, he becomes a ghost somehow. If all dust is collected again, it seems that he can return to the human again. Can he return to the human as expected?

Perhaps it is because he will die the eighth time -> the eighth time doesn't count (for them) because he should not use it.

The main character has to be the unluckiest guy on Earth. He has a girl that wants to kill him, one trying to rape him (lol), and his friends are not really his friends. All the boys hate him for what he has and does not respect him, and all the other girls are shallow towards him. Heh, this is an interesting anime and I am definitely going to keep an eye on it.

so which group's version will you guys stick with? S-C or A-keep....keep has a better reputation, but S-C's version seems pretti decent as well....I'm not sure about E-F and S-ai/a-a....I think keep is most likely the one I'll go for^__^

Normally with 90% of my fansubs, I go with A-keep, but on this one, I think S-C is doing a much better job.
If you guys did watch any of the S-C subs you guys would think that its freaking good... but the size of their Anime is small not as highquality as the A-keep... later i probally download A-keep but the faster one who sub i download but its only between A-keep and S-C cuz sugar cub is doing Exellent job on subbing...

I wasn't fond of the translations used by S-Ai&A-A or E-F (available on IRC). That narrows the field to Keep and S-C. I'm choosing Keep because their video quality is better and I hate the font that S-C is using.

For the first 15 minutes or so of episode 5 I really thought the school was being haunted by an ecchi poltergeist.
Turned out it was just ecchi animators finding every possible fan service shot on female characters :heh:
Kazuki better try to conserve his magic though.
The way magic decreases and they die at 0 is a bit strange..but I kinda like it so far.

Yeah, this is always annoying about any sort of romantic or romantic comedy anime. Probably the main reason I like the Ai Yori Aoshi series so much is that it goes against the normal formula and the main characters end up together and in love at the beginning of the series.
Saw the first episode a few minutes ago, it was great, definetly going to follow this one. Started Watching Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien a couple a days ago and I feel robbed of the "high School romance" story I thought it was going to be.
Maburaho takes 2/3 on my "MES" List, Mecha, Ecchi & Schoolgirl.

This story reminds me a little of Psychic Academy. Unfortunately Psychic Academy felt like it was too short of an anime.

Sure you don't mean ep 4? It airs on Tuesdays so I suppose it is possible you've seen 5 already, though.
The eyecatch in ep 4 was hilarious, note Kazuki in the background on his hands and knees in a pool of blood from his nose in the second pic of it. ^^ At first I thought the episode was just more of the same pattern being repeated, but I guess it's OK since it affected Kuriko and Rin's attitudes a bit and it was still pretty fun. Of course I would have been happy with just the fan service anyway. ^^
I still think S-C wins worst translation with their ep1, ~13:20 translation of Kuriko's "hanashi ga hayai wa. sugu sugu kara, otonashiku shite ite ne." into "Hearing you were my older brother, we don't have much to talk about." which I don't agree with at all. I admit I'm writing the Japanese as I hear/understand it, but I think the adjective otonashii (obedient/docile/quiet) is pretty darn clear (and disagreeing there is the only place where they could get anything brother like from). ;/ I haven't watched multiple groups of one ep or even one particular group regularly, so maybe this was an isolated incident.

Yeah, no doubt. Man, in HS if a group of girls tried to do that to me....awe heck, even today for that matter, I'd definately be all for it. :) My problem is, I'm a computer nerd/geek. Nerds and geeks don't get girls. In fact, they tend to run away screaming. :D To be him would be beyond my wildest dreams. The magic part is a bummer, but the girls part would rule. :)
EDIT: Saw Ep4 and it does answer the # of castings left question. They were counting 8 from when he hit school, so we don't know how many he had total. But he's down to 5 now per what Yuna said.

Wandering A.I. is correct. The count of 8 they gave him was from his first and only magic examination when he entered AOI academy. So any he had or used in his childhood apparently doesn't count per what I've learned from the show. The score of 8 magic uses only counts from the time he was given his first and only magic exam upon entering the academy. Although the doctor for some odd reason has this fetish with wanting to give him yet another exam. Hmm.
EDIT: Slight side note. Even if he does use up all 8 magic uses, if his power is latent, and the 3 main uses we've seen so far hint to that, OMG is he gonna have some serious kick a** power once it's unlocked. Someone with only 8 uses shouldn't have magic THAT powerful. Yet he does without a problem. Heck, even that one girl with her high levels of magic power can't even begin to touch his.
Second side note. Anyone notice the super boobs chick is starting to fall in love with him too? :) That just leaves sword girl. (yeah, yeah. I know. I suck at names.)

Man, Shiki really wasted a magic there. Jeeeeeeeeeeez. I was also happy Rin was interested in someone else, then they go and have her fall for Shiki too. So now we have a real love triangle not just a 'family told us to get his sperm' from two girls, and only one(Yuna) in love with him.

Paiser: You are correct about him seeing the aura. The sensei did not register a number that I recall tho.
Although he has a limited number of times he can use magic, it appears his powers are pretty strong.

I interpretated it as two different possibilities:
1) His magic power is currently dormant and has not been fully awakened yet.
2) He's super charged with magic, but instead of dividing it up into a huge amount of small/average uses, it's divided up into 8 uses, yet each casting has the potential/equivilent power to thousands upon thousands of spells put together.

The doctor seems to know something about Kazuki and his use of magic that he hasn't shared yet. He agreed that he was the one who had been sending Kazuki the recent dreams about monsters, and then he mentioned that containing one s class monster took all the power he had (but in spite of this he released the second monster into the room). I think it has something to do with Yuna's family having moved from Japan to the West. Rin is probably saying they left their roots and adapted themselves into the western culture and that's why their magic is declining.
Just watched the 4th episode, great stuff, just one thing bothering me in the opening, shouldn't Bishoujo be translated inte to "pretty girls" instead of just "girls"?

The doctor seems to know something about Kazuki and his use of magic that he hasn't shared yet. He agreed that he was the one who had been sending Kazuki the recent dreams about monsters, and then he mentioned that containing one s class monster took all the power he had (but in spite of this he released the second monster into the room). They did a decent job although I think the quality of their raw was not very good in the sound department. So far the story is quite predictable and I believe Kazuki's magic will last only a few episodes more. I'd be interested to see the story beyond that. ;)

I think the series has been pretty interesting so far, but I somehow expected the humour to be...funnier. Did anyone like the nerdy Rin in ep5? I thought she looked a little odd, I think her hair is just too big for that style lol

Easy, the ecchiness of the anime sells. I believe the main story hasn't started yet. It's a 24 episode series so I believe it will have something unexpected happening in the next few episodes. At least I hope so. ;)
Kazuki has already used 4 of his 8 precious magic..So atleast 4 more episode to wait for the good story to begin..happy waiting..:D

Yeah, I think that monir is right. The first 8-9 episodes will be setup, then 3 or so for the bridge, then the last 14 will be just freaking awesome. Probulby kazuki exploring his newly emerged magic powers and once and for all picking the girl to spend the rest of his life with. Either that or he'll start his own harem. :D

Yeah, its a mystery to me too, but its probably popular for the same reason Ikkitousen was.
funny thing is though i actually liked ikkitousen and am pissed that i can't see the last ep. ironic ain't it?
I think Maburaho is a lot better than Ikkitousen and about half as ecchi too, whenever I think of Ikkitousen I can never believe how they managed to put so much ecchi in such a short time lol.

I don't think it's that popular, nevertheless it's surprisingly entertaining for a genre I usually hate. I didn't find the main characters infuriatingly stupid on unbearably dumb. I like it because the animation is nice and it's the kind of story I always liked, being an X-Men fan of the ye olde Claremont days. Maburaho is like a better done "Psychic Academy", similar premise and characters with better execution. The PA girls were waaaay better stacked, tho :heh:

I don't think that he's gonna use all his magic before episode 15. He's been using all this magic in the early episodes so that each girl gets a spell + 1 more to bring the dorms together. Now that all of the girls love him (thanx partly to the spell he used on their behalf) we are going to have episodes where there is a really good reason for him to use his magic and the girls will have to work hard to take care of the problem themselves, so that he doesn't. Of course he's gonna have to end up using his magic 4 more times anyway. :D He'll probably use his last spell about episode 20. At least, that's my guess.

Heh..No complain here..Simplicity of a story without much complication is always welcome, especially to the peple who are watching shows like Kimi ga Nozomu Eien, or Tsukihime (hate to admit but they are emotionally draining)...I mean if all I get to see is KGNE or Tsukihime, even FMA, I will go crazy I tells ya, crazy...

I thought the same thing too, but they only started counting from the time he hit the academy. So he could have used it several times before and we wouldn't know save for that one time with the snow. Otherwise they didn't start counting till he was in the academy. So he may have had as many as 20 times at one point. But the belief that he's growing stronger, yeah, I kinda agree with that a bit too. Either that or getting better at controling it.
someone already pointed out earlier in the thread that if 8 is lain down to either side it looks like the infinity sign..
hm..what if the doctor guy was lying to him about using his magic only 8 times. Like someone else posted before his manager seems really fishy like she knows something Kazuki doesn't. This show keeps on getting interesting by the episode.

The characters do in fact say only 5 more times (as far as i can tell). Maybe they lost count. Perhaps the original was 9 (he says 8 after the first incident), and by 9 they mean that he can use it 9 times *safely*. The next time he turns to ash. 9+1=10-5=5 more times.
This is such a stupid show. Not sure why I like it.

Plus at the end where the 3 girls are all dressed up, they all looked so cute. Especially Yuna. But I won't give away anything more. Honestly, I didn't get interested in this series until episode 4. I'm so glad I stuck with it. I was planning to stop at 3 because it was a little hard getting to like the characters. I guess I'm either getting used to it, or the series is getting a lot better.

i think the reason he was avoiding her was metioned. it was something like he was too embarrassed to be around her because of what she might do, since they were childhood friends she knows a lot about him and could say something he wouldn't want everyone to know. And also what i dont get is why kazuki whines like he doens't have any friends and that girls dont like him when he has Yamase his childhood friend who loves him and wants to be with him but he runs away from her, damn what an idiot.

I am curious to why Kazuki was avoiding Yamase in their Junior High years. Anyone got any ideas? It can't be that he was shy.
I just think he knew how the rest of his class would react to him hanging with someone from F-class and becuse of it he just tried to avoid her.
And about his magic, So its getting low? I hope/think his latent powers will kick inn and well get to se som bad ass magic from the little wimp. :D

After watching episode #7, I'm now hoping that Kazuki got confused and is supposed to (and will) get together with Yamase somehow. Yuna's jealousy and insecurity are getting tiring to watch. :p

From the flashback, Kazuki basically acted his age when he loudly claimed the title of "the greatest magician of the world" to the red-haired girl. He probably said it to everyone that he met... till he got the results from the magic exam. :p
Since Yuna had that pendant, she's (most likely) that same girl. Of course, for all I know, the thing could be bought a dozen at a time from an Asian importer!
I'm rooting for Yamase who's, IMHO, a lot more loveable than Yuna, esp. when she gets insecure. Doubt that it'll happen, though, but it could happen.

I think Kazuki probably was quite powerful even when he was little, so when he met Yamase, and used magic, Yamase would see that he was really powerful and hence, called him mr. blabalbal.... but ofcourse, lynnie's description of him going around telling everyone he's the greatest magician in the world really made me laugh.. :D heh. *Imagines even more girls later calling him the greatest magician in the world.. man.. imagine the confused posters!*

Ok ive got a new theory on Maburaho,after watching episode 8 and learning that he can only use magic 3 times,you kinda get the feeling that something big is goning to happen soon.Cause i cant see now way in hell him keep him frm using his magic for 16 more episodes,even spanning those 3 times over 16 episodes is still gonna be quite hard,I think around episode 12 is when this "big" thing might happen.
Now everyone has the idea that when kazuki uses his last magic yuna,kuriko,and rin will bring him back somehow.Now what if the 8 or how ever many he had when he was born, was actually kinda like something to prepare him for is true maigc.Set his body to prepare for the enormus power that he has.Cause even though everyone else will turn to ash,when they us up all ther magic,if not definete it will happen to kazuki,because of his power is so much greater than everyone else.and at the 12 episdoe mark his true power will be unleashed.
Now as for what happens after this,i have no clue,but as for now i think things are moving to quickly for this to be 24 episdoes without something pretty major happing in the middle.

Kazuki fainted, seems like Kazuki is getting weaker from all those times he used his magic. His physical strengh is declining. I'm glad to see that Kuriko didn't take advantage of Kazuki when they were alone together in the infirmary I guess she finally realizes how much Kazuki means to her or she wasn't prepared for sex yet.
I wonder how he will use his remaining 3 magic attempts when he tried to use magic and fainted trying to protect that boy. Won't he just faint again when he tries to use his magic, or was that the only time. Stupid Kazuki you should think about yourself instead of thinking about others. Their were times I think he was justified to use his magic like to save Yuuna and Kuriko but using magic to what save a bento or make it snow is just plain stupid. By the way hes using his magic he won't last until ep15 if hes lucky.

I wonder whether the 'kid' is sort of a mirror image of Kazuki, in that he'll get involved with the problems that Kazuki faces. Maybe he'll react to certain situations in a different way, in contrast to Kazuki's decisions.
I have a feeling we'll get more of that kid, and the classmate who moved (Yamase), since it would be weird for those two characters to 'just make an entrance'.
(Especially when both of them have a spot in the ED credits, I suppose their importance might be bigger than that of Nakamaru&gang... since they do have their own 'solo' position in the ED, as opposed to a group)

His magic is very powerful and he can use it very little times probably because of that. That's why he fainted when he tried to use magic when he still was recovering from the last time.
Nobody except him gets tired for using plenty of it.

This episode reminded me of To Heart where the focus was on the goodness of uncaring hearts. Kuriko is on the Kazuki-wagon as well and showing heart. Even NoSanniWa may like Kuriko now with all her other traits :D..

Kinda like playing an RPG and your magician only has so many "mana" points with which to cast a spell. Another way to look at it is this. Which burns up more energy and makes you tired faster? Running, walking, or sitting? Same idea mostly. The bigger the spell, the more energy expelled.

Just watched the raw of ep9.
The episode is about Kuriko taking Kazuki to a hot spring resort, while leaving the other girls behind. Yuna imagines Kuriko and Kazuki doing it, so she gets so pissed off that she, Rin, and the ghost-girl leave to the hot spring. Stuff happens, and Kazuki ends up going to the hotspring with all three girls + the hot spring owner. I have no idea why, but the hot spring drains and turns into a baseball field, and Kazuki gets challenged to an undead baseball match using magic. Long story short, Kazuki ends up using his magic to throw the ball across the field, which ends up nuking the entire baseball field, and the mountain at that. Two more uses.

for those who can read a bit of chinese or kanji, you will see a sign in front of the hot spring that said "Hot spring of increase # of magic usage" (sorry for the rough translation) and the sign also indicate that the hot spring is for "both sex"
and as for the end
yes Kazuki got an extra magic usage in return for his participation in the Baseball game. (See the certificate for further details) He actually still can use his magic 3 more times.

If they lost the girls would have had to spend eternity in hell practicing baseball. At least thats what I got from it, with my bad japanese and the scene of them in hell practicing.
Also that sort of makes sense...otherwise if there was no penalty and no risk wouldnt everyone be going to try and play to increase their magic usage?

So probably they'll put the Kazuki death somewhere in this season.
(I doubt they're going to pull another +1 -1, cuz it's been done... so if we want season 2, either Kazuki's going to need a miraculous recharge, or we'll have to suffer 16 episodes of no-Kazuki magic = boring plot / filler / ecchi fillin...)
Though I wouldn't mind a season 2... just don't make it like AYA (WAYYY tooooo ssss....lllll.....ooooo.....wwwww...)

I agree. IT's moving WAY too fast for something NOT to happen in this season. I think all of that will play out this season, then IF there is a second season, something new and wild will happen then. Maybe they'll have Kazuki and Yuni's kid getting into trouble with old daddy "greatest magician in the world" coming to save him often? ^_^

Isn't it a little hard to compare which is 'better' due to the fact that the two are so different?
(I'm saying this under the assumption that Maburaho's more of a comedy, and Tsukihime is a suspense anime.)
(heh... I'd say KGNE is better than both... but that's just my personal preference. Plus, KGNE's of another type of anime as well.)
I'd love to see both titles get its own forum.
(Then again... considering that Tsukihime's almost over, it might be more logical to give Maburaho its own forum.

You couldn't even download A4L ep9 if you wanted to cuz their was something wrong with the tracker. I keeped getting "Not Authorized error messages when I try to dl their version. So I'll be waiting on SC also.
As for what Maburaho translates into I have no idea, maybe kj1980 or eMpTy265 could answer that. :)

I managed to get that one before their tracker broke. Watched about 5 minutes before the font drove me nuts. Also waiting for SC's version.
the font that anime4life uses is REALLY straining on the eyes.
a4l wow its horrible font... and anyone is wondering why the subs are so slow... its finals for most college students :p yea... subbers need incoming translator, qc's, timer, kareok, etc... later on in future.... :D the one's in college will go profession soon. It's not that the font itself is so bad, it's just a poor choice for this application. It just takes a little more effort to read since it's not a really simple font, so it's harder to read out of peripheral vision while you're watching the animation.

For such a generic show, I'm really digging this. It is a bit alarming how quickly Kazuki's using his magic up, but I think that's a good thing. They'll have to go a different route than most would this way.
And I just tried the A4L version of Ep. 9. The first time I BT-ed it, it was corruped, and the second the video keeps skipping for me, so I'm gonna give up and wait for A-Keep's.
Geez...... I want to get more but with this series my download is going super slow. I'm on the 4th eps now and I haven't gotten a good stream yet. Well..... I'll just tough it out. (I'm not asking for help... its my modem.... it has a built in fire wall that I cant disable, not even with MSN's help. :( )

I actually did download and watched the whole episode from start to end. The comments raised are valid... the font is kinda hard to read, there were some timing issues... but the actual sub job during the anime was actually quite understandable. That being said, it wasn't one of my favorite episodes, but it did have it's moments...
"Tom has a girlfriend, her name is Nancy! Kazuki-san has a girfriend, her name is Kuriko-san..." :p Yuuna is the best; so cute!

Yeah, the beginning did seem to generic. But I gave it a chance. I try to watch anime up to the 2nd or 3rd eps to make sure it sucks. So far I like this series. :)

I like it as much as I like Love Hina (the manga, not the anime). I think this is going to be a must-buy for my DVD collection. Gundam Seed, Hajime no Ippo, Maburaho. The list just keeps growing... :D

i'm new here after reading in this forum i just had to join in. i just rewatch ep 7 to read some parts again. first i'll list some points i don't understand.
yamase asked kazuki "i'm almost sure of this, but you haven't used any magic since then, right?"
---so we can assume that yamase either saw kazuki used his magic before or he used his magic infront of her before.
during the play yamase said to kazuki "right now, you have just forgotten"
"i wanted to be by your side until you awakened"
but .... i am...
(but yuuna said that those lines weren't written in the script book)

ok as you can see i'm obsessed with yamase err why can't she stay for another couple of eps why why??? i'm just hoping she can come back but err there's no way that she will end up with kazuki since she's not the main character. still she is so cool i think after watch maburaho she and the sensei that likes to play games are the only ones that i like.
ps. i think yamase is much better with kazuki then the others since she's the only one that doesn't want him to use his magic even when she's in danger. ahh she's so cool baka kazuki doesn't realize she likes him and always try to avoid her what a bad....eck i wrote too much oh well back to waiting for more maburaho.

Well, apparently this series is scheduled to have a 24 episode run, so thankfully the ending won't be for a while yet!

Is this true? I've tried REALLY hard to be patient about Episode 10 (RAW aired on Dec 16), but I just can't hold back anymore! I looked at Anime-Keep's site and they said the project status was "active"..... :frustrated:

Roots you have to be kinda cheery in this time of year! Also at this current or last week was finals for college students and most of our subbers are in college. Yep. So hardly Maburaho just went dead for little bit. Oh yea the next 2 episode wont be released in January. Some kinda delay or stopped tempary for the this current week and next one. If any one is wondering. Oh yes. Maburaho is based on Novel. Then came Comic series. Im just dying to know who the hell knows if the god damn novel is in english yet! Ima gonna buy that book!(when its out on english! :p my japanese isnt that great)
I say Yuuna is a great character. My eye is set on Yuna not Yamase :p Yamase is a great character, but she just went to fast. So I cant really compare her to Yuna just yet. Scince only 1 episode of her :p Besides what if Yamase was in the series from begginin. She would look bad. Next to kuriko or someone else. If Yuna showed up for one episode. Everyone would agree that Yuna would be best character. Think about it :p You really cant compare till They equally fairly show somethin for the show that make us agree that which one is best character.

It seemed important to keep track since everytime he used it, it was a big deal. However, in episode 8. At the end they keep saying that he has 3 tries left. Which is wrong since it previousyl already used it 6 times not including his failed attempt in that episode.

1 x against little girl ghost and brought the dorms together.
1 x against the behemoths
1 x for runi to save her food.
1 x in the play for Yamase

I think they meant he could use it 8 times at that point (where he's in school). Cause he prolly used his magic more times before (since Yamasa calls him Mr. Greatest Magician in the World).

Hmm Considering ur taste seems to be the same as mine. I suggest Hunter X Hunter. Animation in the beginning is older but the plot is pretty interesting and the voice actor is the same as Naruto's so you know what to expect. All the elements of a great series.
Otherwise you can keep urself busy with Read or die. The OVA first and than the TV series.
