Hey all...Sorry to say, but I couldn't resurrect information for this thread. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v234/Mousefinger/Misc/sad.gif I feel that this is an important topic/thread and should be kept alive. We can do two things:
Someone can try to find a cached image of this thread on Google or Yahoo (I looked, but maybe someone else can give it a shot).
Just pick it up from where we left off like nothing happened.
I checked Google & Yahoo...if anyone else can find a cached image of the old version from which we could extract previous posts, let me know. Otherwise, I suggest picking up the conversation from where we left off.
You can re-post previous thoughts, extrapolate on new thoughts or whatever. If you have any questions, drop me a PM.

Someone posted 6 or 7 NewType scans with full of great information. I don't remember who was, but please repost it. Especially the pupils by countries chart was very useful.
Newtype scans. I found one featuring their swimsuits and the villains Lumen and Dyne from episode 10.

But from memory, I believe episode 13 was an Akane/Kazuya episode where they elope? Can someone clarify that? If they do elope, then won't that have someone blame the Wind Bloom country and start a war? :)

Arika skips that class, and will have to until she can summon her Coral Robe again.
Of course, if any Coral (or Pearl) is dumb enough to really piss off Arika, then they could be in for a nasty surprise

This is all from Arika's point of view btw (imagine her whining voice...)
Anyway, the studying is really hard for her - and exams are coming up soon. Also, if any student comes last in the exams two times in a row, they're forced to drop out. Meanwhile Arika's been skipping fighting class, and has been given some cleaning as punishment. She's been told to clean the huge mausoleum, which is where the "Otome founder Fumi-sama sleeps". There's also lots of info there about Otome and Arika is looking up info on her mother (and her GEM problem too I guess).
Heh I dunno, the more the series progresses the more I like Arika - she's not made to be 'humiliated' ala Nina / Natsuki, but you clearly see thing are going to continually backfire on her.
Quick question - I think I'm losing my mind - have we had Natsuki dress up as a maid in Mai Otome? And when I say 'maid', I mean frills and serving tea sort of maid? I don't know if this has been discussed elsewhere but I don't recall this happening, although I haven't downloaded every episode, so I'm not sure? (There is a reason I ask)

Arika doesn't so much fail as falling flat on her face/making craters on the ground due to trying too hard.
My favourite Arika moment is when she dropped down the building Spiderman-style when they asked her to come down. There is just something very cool about that...

98% of EVERYONE in Mai Otome is recycled designs from Mai Hime or other Sunrise Shows. And yes, we know.
Speaking of which, I swear I thought Mai's mother in shown in Mai Hime looked hell lot like Arika. Anyway, I can't wait to see Arika used her new robe in front of everyone. Since she can't really control it that well yet, I was hoping maybe someone like Shizuru might end up training her secretly

If it's right... (guessing time)
Then Rena's was the princess, and as she got a baby, she breaks the contract with her father (xena, warrior princess... ).
So, the fact that she was an Otome was just in order to give her a good education or something like that. But she shows so many skills, her father decided to keep her as his own Otome, as long as she find an husband or something... End of guessing...

From what I can understand of the Japanese, Akane made her choice of what she is to do with the rest of her life... We would know, one way or another, if she is going to be an Otome any more after this episode. A big choice, consider how she is no. 1 Pearl and almost certainly on her way to Meister.
It's specifically about how Akane is force to choose between her dream in life of being an Otome, or follow her heart.
Sounds like Akane is going to be a victim again... I wonder, perhaps Sunrise could take pity on her and give Akane her own short OVA spin-off series, when she could be happy for once? What had she done to deserve this non-stop suffering, other than having an undramatic, simplistic, hetero relationship that couldn't be marketed?

Well, they can't make planes anymore, so you don't have to worry about it getting stuck in a jet engine, so, why not? Lol..

Sadly, I think you summed it up there. At least unlucky 13 doesn't appear to be the host to any deaths. Hmm, do you reccon that Sunrise might adapt part of their future plot because of the recent Biglobe poll results? I wasn't expecting how they turned out, but the death list might need a re-shuffle. Or not. At least, with our current information, Akane wouldn't be residing in a mental institution for the larger part of the series, if she will be happy, let her go the way her heart says.
EDIT: And, ooh, translations of the information for future episodes would be much appreciated. :)
Natsuki is a great fan of Batman. I must admit that pic of her really made me laugh, I think it's the pose as well. Natsuki in a dress is rare anyway, this may be entertaining. I wonder what colour it will be....if it's the colours of Duran, it may be....bright....
That said I don't really like the designs of maid-uniform thing, they're ok at the top, but the bottom comes out like some umbrella.

The Japanese text said it was her "formal" clothing.
So you probably won't see it any more often than that silly pot-shaped crown Mashiro wears.

Only downside is that considering Shizuru's and Natsuki's lenght difference, Natsuki is likely to get knocked back flat rather than Squall's "catching" version.

Actually, that was not my intention. Ok, so their physical conditions are a bit different than SquallRinoa but even if Natsuki gets knocked back instead of spinning Shizuru around in her arms, they still have to -land- somewhere eh? Althou hopefully not on the Odine Laboratory floor, ouch.
I'm fine with Natsuki having guns this time too actually, but just anything but hugeass Mecha bazookas cus that would really suck...

I hope so. I would definitely like to see a flashback of Natsuki and Shizuru. Actually I'm more curious about Natsuki's behavior back then.

Shizuru is severely injured by blocking off a deadly attack for Natsuki. Natsuki, enrages, blasts off the enemies in her uber robe action... Then brings Shizuru to this nice sakura setting, hugs Shizuru tightly in her arms...and tears... Heart broken to see Shizuru injured so badly... Then *flashbacks of their coral/pearl days and how they spend time with one another*.

Being the only woman in my department at work, all the guys look at me strangely when they see both of my computer terminals plastered with ShizNat wallpaper....and me staring at the wallpaper :heh:

Actually, I was thinking of a flashback episode not entirely dedicated to Shiznat (we can dream thou) but including Mai too, Sunrise made Natsuki refer to "that person" a bit to much to entirely pass her up as just another otome, plus the intro withstanding.
Althou I had love to see...
A episode worth of flashbacks dedicated to Natsuki's daily life as Shizuru's room attendant and how she got over that characteristic prudeness of hers.
I hereby declare "Indigo" as the describing a ShizNat fantasy colour. XD

Blocking attack is so cliche, I think is much more badass if Shizuru just kick Natsuki out of the way :heh: :heh: BTW what are the home countries Nats and Shiz came from? I have a feeling that Nats may come from Elias (like in the Manga) and Shiz come from that bald guys contries (Catala or somethings) because of all the purple motifs. I can see the bald guy tries to get Shiz to join him when war broke out but Shiz just cut his head off :heh: :heh:
BTW yesterday I have a dream about Mai Otome that will probably not happen but was pretty interesting. What if Shizuru was jealoused of Mai's closeness with Natsuki and had her "dealt" with like what Tomoe tried to do to Arika? Of course Mai come back with a vengence and we see a scene where Natsuki, fill with tear of joy and shock, whereas Shizuru face turn batshit pyscho behind Natsuki when Mai shows up with the whole place on fire. That would make some awesome scene. eheheh that the image I remember in my dream.
Anyway, my crazy prediction of the show will be like this.
Arika is holding a injury or "dead" nina and a frighten/hysteria Mashiro in the middle of a burning city or something being force to choose sides. We have Midori trying to convince Arika to join Aswad for returning to Earth which will somehow cause great harm to everyone on Earl. Midori will try to convince Arika that she is one of Aswad and her loyalty should be with Aswad. Then there is Natsuki trying to get Arika to join Garderobe to maintain the status quote. But Arika doesn't like the idea to sacrified a few for the good of many mentality. Natsuki probably were force to kill one of the student herself (most likely Erstin) to prevent further disaster. Then there is Shizuru who is trying to reverse the role of master and otome and rule the world with an iron fist with masterless Otome power (may even have kiyohime by her side). She do that because she doesn't want Natsuki to ever get hurt in an Otome war. The way she figure it, if all nation were to be united under her then she'll have absolute power to prevent war thus protecting Natsuki or to prevent anyone from threatening Natsuki ever. Anyway Arika hate that idea too after seeing the davastating Shizuru caused. Then of course there is Mai, who just want to purge the human race for some crazy reason like she her mom is Jenova or something (heheh).
While everything going on we see Nagi laughing from a distance, enjoying the chaos and behind him a big floating eyeballs. Nagi says:"don't worry, just a bit longer and your 3000 years revenge will be completed, they'll regret destroying the festival..."
And of course we'll see a piss off fumi with a sythe yelling:"What the fuck is going on!?? Looks like I need to lay the smack down on all you morons again...arrrrrggggg!" eyes glowing all red and shit :heh:
Ok that was crazy...I'll have to sleep now, maybe tomorrow I'll have more crazy idea.
Ok, Natsuki weapon.. hmm.. I really, really like the idea of a silver AK-74 SK, the weapon carried by Russian Spetznatz. Something's bothering me now though, especially with the recent development of how the Aswald Knights (Midori) utilize their version of the nano-tech. Midori's able to summon a/her Child but Gualderobe can Materialize. I'm going on just the intro itself but if left to just that, it would seem to hint that Mai is able to both Materialize AND summon a Child. (C'mon we all know that it's our fav temper-throwing dragon/phoenix that's plowing through those hapless Slaves during the intro.)
If so...a Meister Otome ... with the ability to summon THE Kagutsuchi - King of KickAss.

I didn't expect anyone to reply to that, really, and the question was rhetorical. I don't need to be informed that.. well.. I shouldn't bother voicing my opinions. Oh, I know WHY Natsuki is no longer a main character, I know WHY Natsuki has become older and WHY she has had a little personality edit. That doesn't stop me saying I don't like the way it is. I kind of miss her, but I just feel sorry that I no longer really give a crap about who was my favourite character. Ah well, I shall have to re-watch HiME sometime, possibly in the 2 week gap of Mai Otome over Christmas. I have found alternative favourite characters. For example, even though Midori was one of my favourites, I find myself liking her even more this time around, same with Nao. If I was to choose a side, it would be the Aswalds. Fighting at Midori's side for the Motherland does have more pros that cons, and I think they just might be the 'right' side.

As for Natsuki's weapon, I sure hope she won't use the same guns as her HiME counterpart. I mean, being one of the 5 pillars, that kind of guns just won't work, too weak in my opinion, especially if you compare it to Shizuru's weapon :upset:. Natsuki needs better weapons, like the guns Vincent used in FF7:AC perhaps :D?

That's a good question.
We don't actually know the quantity of Corals who actually get to be Meisters...
Since it's been peaceful up to this point with no big wars, Meisters don't quit (as they don't get killed) except leaving by their own accord.
If only half-a-dozen Corals graduate into Meisters or even less per year, we can suspect the Meister population remains stable. After all, new graduates every year when a Meister can remain in her job for a lifetime could really saturate the job market...
But I suspect otherwise; that there are probably huge numbers of voluntary dropouts at Coral level and even Meister graduates. I don't mean they might be desperate to marry a guy like Akane was or anything, just that they might not like to be a Meister for ever, or left the profession because it is too tough/demeaning due to bad masters.
At least some of the students joined up for educational purposes only, others joined to attract high-grade husbands just so their families can climb up the social ladder.
Still others might not like the Masters available, or start to hate the lifestyle... It happens.

okay ife been thinking about who is whos mother well.. generaly i think that the now dead queen is Arika's mother, also because of the birthday it makes sence because f her mom is dead her grandmother would have given her that birthday with a good reason, because she was born on that day and because she IS the queen..
and if you look closely you can see the resemblence between her and Arika, but to clear up the picture of her as an Otome, she could be a former Otome but after falling in love with the one she was protecting she became queen and gave birth to Arika, that would make sence of the neclace Arika has with the gem stones in it
making Mashiro-chan a fake queen, but i was also thinking about that, maybe they made her queen so that those people she was with can black mail her when she gets older or they will tell it out that she's the fake queen...
also about Nina, the former Otome of the queen and king that is also in the picture books of Sergay, that Otome cannot be Nina's mother
in episode 1 she's shown putting the baby princess in the water, then jumps up and in the end summons her weapon.. SUMMONS! if she would have given birth to Nina she couldnt have been able to do this for the nanomachines would have stopped working completely!
but i think that she has a certain connection with Nina, i think shes the woman Nina saw in her memmory when she was drowning, maybe she was saved by that Otome and adopted or something else..
i dont precisely know, anyone else got theories?

The realistic possibilities of Otomes who cannot become Meisters are as follows:
1) Politics: Having gone to a school reserved for "old money" is a sign of prestige for any young lady, and thus will lead to a promising career wearing big wigs, figuratively and literally.

At least you can tell your kids about your super-powered school days of fighting super-monsters and flying through the air like a bird, with your loving husband snuggled next to you on the couch next to a warm, roaring fire, waiting for your grandchildren to come celebrate your one-hundred-and-fourth birthday.
3) Mercenary. Thus far, there has been no mention of forceful dissolution of a Pearl's nanomachines should she chose to leave the Otome order and not have children anyway. Thus, for the unromantic yet adventurous entrepenour, this is the option to take for an exciting and fulfilling life. There will always be a need for warriors, and not all nations can afford to have their own sanctioned Otomes in their armies. However, although forfeiting the pleasures of flesh for the honor of battle is noble in itself, much like the Meisters, the Ex-Pearl's abilities would still linked by contract to a specific sponsor, whose moral code will dictate what battles she fights, and how she may honor or stain the code of the warrior.

That one seems a bit iffy at best. Mind you, I'm going off information that I may have remembered or interpreted wrong. If I remember it all correctly, Midori calls Garderobe's control over nanomachines restricted at best before her fight scene. Before that, we've seen the ability to track robe activation. Considering their power and the school's stance, I would think it unlikely at best that they would allow such usage. If nothing else, they would be rather displeased at that country's misuse of Otome students and have something to say about it.
Still, all of these ex-Otomes have to be going somewhere. Perhaps they just can't stand a life of yuri goodness. Or there are evil ex-Otome-sacrificing cults out there. Bloody hell if I know.
Can anyone translate this? My Otome's official site just uploaded a preview for Episode 13. It seems Arika (or whoever) is congratulating Akane on graduating and becoming a Meister Otome. Here's the full blurb that I can't read:

B) Akane bites it. Arika is shocked at the reality. Kazu-kun is sad, but dedicates himself for world peace.
C) No one dies. The both part ways knowing that they can't be together due to duty. A war breaks out. Akane kills Kazu's Otome, and by extension, him.
D) Florince erases both of them.

Anyway... did anyone else notice the typo on the official Mai Otome cast page? It's supposed to read pa/a/ru/o/to/me, or Pearl Otome. However, it reads BA/a/ru/o/to/me, which means Crowbar Otome. I think someone typoed.

Keep in mind that you only saw Natsuki's number because she was in her formal cloths. Otherwise she never wear it.
Yukariko has yet to attend any important functions, so unless we see a number-less formal wear from her we can't assume she isn't a Pillar.

The resolution on Yukariko's outfit is a little blurry... I wil ned a better shot to be sure there is no numerals.
Anyway, comparing the image you supplied with this one of Shizuru:

I noticed something: Specifically, that Yukriko, Natsuki and Shizuru's formal wear has the same pair of wings sewn on the chest area, but Maria's outfit has an entirely different pattern on the chest.

On Miss Maria's uniform, it could be a deferance to age. ^^; She IS one of the Otome from after the War of the Dragon Lord. It could be the old style crest that she wanted to keep instead of switching to the new style crest. Either that or that designates a 'Head Mistress' or a 'Vice Principle' type station within the school. She's high enough to talk plainly to Natsuki about certain things.

The Coral and Peral Otome uniforms all have bells and whistles above/between the wings. Only Natsuki, Shizuru and Yukariko have wings by themselves.

Okay, now for the serious part of the post - Who else says that Tomoe will begin 'cutting the competition' within 3 eps? Best way to make sure you don't have to fight is to eliminate those who will be fighting before they even get to the arena.

Essentially Akane got her Meister-robe early. And Arika was asking her about this "incurable disease" Arika just got, that made her lose her appetite. And Youko claim it's a disease beyond the healing powers of God.
Arika commented that this feeling is something she never felt before... before asking what "love" is. Akane told her you can feel pain when thinking about someone.
Arika, being Arika, asked Akane for a cure for this "love" thing...:heh:

So from this, we know Akane would be a Meister, or at least is about to be one in the next episode.
We also found out something many people across the net don't like to think about; that a love triangle might be emerging. I guess some sort of Naruto/Sasuke thing might be inevitable now. Nina and Arika will get closer as friends, only for things to go bad in an instant and Nina flipping to the dark-side, hunting Arika down.
I think what Arika may be moping about in ep 14 is her meister contract with Mashiro and how there's no forseeable way to nullify it. Ep 15 could be further angsting on about it and ep 16 would be her finally accepting the fact that, like it or not, she's Mashiro's otome. It makes sense, considering the titles of eps 15 and 16.
But then again, what do I know?

I quite agree that in a totally abnormal (for her) and sudden move Akane could do some serious damage in her meister robe. Though, I do think that those two scenes in the preview have been cleverly placed aside one another by Sunrise to link Akane flying off in what look like a slightly temperamental frame of mind to Shizuru looking slightly surprized by what have may been either a warning shot, or one that went wide of it's target. It is quite possible that that did not come from Akane, Sunrise just wants us to think so to make the truth more surprizing, and therefore entertaining.

Ok, that heard beat didn't necessarily indicate that Arika was in love. First though that popped into my head that Arika's heart was giving in or she had a blood clot, totally ridiculous I know. I honestly can't image Arika being in love with anyone around at the moment, least of all Sergei and Nina. I agree Arika envying Sergei of his hug with Nina is a prediction, one which could very well come true because of it's utter absurdity, and not one I am anything more than indifferent about, but I seriously hope that she isn't going to end liking Sergei. You must be joking.. now Arika has fallen for someone? Good GOD. However, just because the preview text states that she is in love (where was the source of this preview text, is it reliable, and was the translation reliable, and where might I find it?) that does not have to be linked to the heart beat. Disappointment? Not really. More like.. hmm.. a feelling which can only be described as crap, mixed with a sense of unbelieving. Like when I first started watching the series.
Why, good God, WHY? Arika doesn't even understand or know about it and she just gets thrown in the deep end by Sunrise. How this is going to enhance the story, I have yet to figure out. Its not because she seems to have fallen for Sergei, its just.. just.. so stupid. Now she is going to have to get a crash course in 'what love is' by most likely Akane. Whereas I shall be sitting here trying to maintain a stable blood pressure. I haven't had to invest in a new keyboard since the days of X2: The Threat, where I lost HOURS of gameplay and hit the keyboard just a little too hard, perhaps Arika's downright incompetence (and Sunrise's abysmal choices for plot 'development') will be the end of my current, relatively flashy keyboard.
Does this translation spell it out for the reader? Actually saying, clean and clear, 'Arika is in love' or does it mearly say something along the lines of her asking around about the topic of love? As for the loss in appetite, I can secretly hope that it is due to some kind of biological weapon specifically designed for Arika's removal. ;)
As for age groups of relationship and the survial of the series, I see no link. There is no reason a young and older pairing is going to fair any better than a same age couple, there would surely be no reason for Sunrise to discriminate between the two. Akane's relationship has always been doomed to failure, Sunrise just dont' like her. ;) But realistically, I see no solid evidence.
Well, what an incredible plot development. (Major sarcasm, make sure you don't miss it)
EDIT: Ok, just found the translation and read it. Hmm, no clear indications who it could be, or even if it is love. YES, I can still keep hoping it is something else, the kind of thing when you go to the doctors and they are like 'nah, it's nothing, just a cold' and you end up with SARS. Or not quite like that, but lets just hope that Akane's mind is too focused on the topic of love that she jumps to the conclusion that Arika is in love, when it could very well be something else.. uh-huh.. sure.. I remain stupidly and uncharacteristically optimistic.. not.

I recently rewatched all the episodes out so far and I noticed a few things that might be potential spoilers. However, these things were mentioned previously in eps and since I'm just speculating things, so I won't put this in spoiler tags.
In ep. 9, it' s mentioned that Kazu-kun is Carlteya's heir. Aswald was hired by the king of Carlteya, King Argoss (his otome is Fia). It's possible that King Argoss is Kazuya's father or grandfather. I have a feeling that ep. 13 will have Akane becoming Kazuya's otome and maybe ending up on the opposing side and working with Aswald or something.
Also, in ep. 7, Mashiro was found by the Duke of Interior Affairs who said she was the princess. Also in the same ep., that one worker recieves the black letter from the General Affairs office. I think the two offices are connected since they are both part of Windbloom's government. If so, it could mean that Shibaratsu has ties and has a lot of political power in the government and installed Mashiro so later when she is Queen, they could fully take over Windbloom. It's just a thought though....

What we KNOW of the pillars is that they are the only Otomes who have no master, and who directly protect Guarderobe's interests, and ONLY Guarderobe's interests; they are the protectors of the school, and the strongest Otomes.
We *know* Shizuru and Yukariko are able to materiaize on their own, so those two are pillars. It seems obvious that Natsuki is not only a Pillar, but also the strongest; look at how Aswald reacts to her. Maria is also another good candidate, but the fifth one is a total mystery; as far as I know, Youko, the best other candiate, doesn't have an earring (not at home, can't check), so she isn't an Otome, despite being the resident Nanomachine expert.
It COULD be Mai, though; if she DID have a master, then running away wouldn't have been a good idea. If she didn't, that would have allowed her to run away while remaining an Otome (which, I'm sure, we all hope she is).

What if the heartbeat thing at the end of episode 12 is actually Arika feeling Mashiro's emerging crush for Takumi through their link? It's a long shot, but any other possibility than a Arika/Sergei/Nina triangle is a good thing, in my mind...
The official summary (*) for the ep says it happens as Arika watches Nina and Sergay embrace. Seems to me to imply that some jealousy is awakening in Arika...

What we KNOW of the pillars is that they are the only Otomes who have no master, and who directly protect Guarderobe's interests, and ONLY Guarderobe's interests; they are the protectors of the school, and the strongest Otomes.
We don't know all that for certain... though it's pretty reasonable.
We *know* Shizuru and Yukariko are able to materiaize on their own, so those two are pillars. It seems obvious that Natsuki is not only a Pillar, but also the strongest; look at how Aswald reacts to her. Maria is also another good candidate, but the fifth one is a total mystery; as far as I know, Youko, the best other candiate, doesn't have an earring (not at home, can't check), so she isn't an Otome, despite being the resident Nanomachine expert.
Given that Mai was Pearl #1, it's quite likely that she was better overall than Natsuki. If being a Pillar is a matter of strength, then Mai should be a Meister if Natsuki is one. Of course, there's all sorts of possible complications and things that would be nice to know - like, is Natsuki's post hereditery or what?
Given that Maria doesn't have a GEM anymore (certainly looks that way) I doubt she is a Pillar.
It COULD be Mai, though; if she DID have a master, then running away wouldn't have been a good idea. If she didn't, that would have allowed her to run away while remaining an Otome (which, I'm sure, we all hope she is).
If Mai has a "master" (the idea is rather creepy to me), then it would be someone from Zipangu. But that place doesn't have an Otome currently. Unless Takumi means "in practice" rather than "technically", then Mai doesn't have a master. It could be that Mai is (currently) neither a Pillar nor does she have a master (and so can't materialise a Robe without another Otome), and gets made a Pillar later on.

........umm, has anyone thought of what Takumi said in ep12? He told Natsuki that his sister was torn between her love one and being an Otome. Then by the looks of Natsuki at the end of the episode, she know what Takumi is talking about.
Now think back in ep2, Natsuki and Sergay seems to know each other REALLY well, and hate each others too. So could it be that, Sergay is the person Mai can't choose, which let her to heart break? And Natsuki hated Sergay for that?
I hope they don't kill Sergay, he's pretty good in this season. Even though I hated him in the Mai Hime :heh:

Well, when you consider that a Pillar is a support system for something (be it a cause or an architectural work) then it makes sense that the Pillars would be supporting and holding up Garderobe from within rather than from without.

Let say something so obvious such that she can materialize on her own, why didn't the official site states 'pillar' in her porfile? There is no number on Yukariko's meister robe, no matter how zoom-in on the official picture, hers looked different from Natsuki(I/II?) and Shizuru's(III). Yurkariko might looked like a V (and a huge one), but any explaination on what happen to the 2 wings on the bottom?
So far in the show, Yukariko seemed to be treated as the same status as Miss Maria, without the materializ----e! As for that, I rather believe it is a treaty signed as a teacher of Garderobe. And Miss Maria had the same privilage. Though some may say her respond to the school is the portection to the Coral, but I believe Miss Maria does the same. The opinion may change if we get to see the interaction between Yukariko and an actual pillar.
Forgive me for denying this to Yukariko fans.;) I do like her and I think Sunrise is hinder her importance until the future episode... just like MH did.... That's how the carnival went bloody!:)

Remember episode 1 Natsuki said she called Shizuru back for help? Who knows where Shizuru was before. Pillars scattered, somehow.
They are rare, powerful, and important. Mere decoration means a lot ...(or could)... to any otome. See how the color/symbol on each uniforms varies? And the tough ranking system? That's why base on that drawing, I chose to lean on the other side of the table.

Either way, we have no idea what the 5 pillars normally do. Obviously Natsuki runs the school (and rules her tiny little country) but what about the others? in ep 1, Natsuki talks about calling Shizuru back - so where was Shizuru?
Given that's there's some apparant openings in the "5 pillars" rostar, I'd guess it's more likely some existing characters will be made pillars - the alternative is that actually there are 5 pillars already, but the characters just haven't been introduced yet. But we have pretty much all of My Hime's characters around, so they'd have to be entirely new characters (except for Mai), which seems unlikely (makes them feel disposable).

Rena was not a piller, she was a meister and a Otome for the King of WindBloom. A piller is a Meister that serves the School only.

hmm...I don't think so.....I agree to a point that pillars are from meisters but they are a higher rank than meister once they become pillar.

the master is F.H., Fumi H(something) and she is dead.
Pillers are Masterless Meister who serve Garderobe directly. Whether they are stongest of the Meisters is a different matter.

Thats because only Natuski and Shizuru are confirm as Pillers. With Miss Maria and Yukario as very possible maybe. Considering Yukario materalize without a master she probably is a Piller. - Fumi may or may not be the master of all Pillars - (you'd think so though it's never been mentioned directly)
- Shizuru is a part of Garderobe (otherwise how the hell would the pupils be pining over her or even know who she was in such a familiar way) but it may or may not be connected to her participation as a Garderobe Pillar - no comfirmation either way
- There has never been any clarification that a Pillar is 'stronger' than a regular meister. It's assumption only

About the job of the Pillars...
a. We know that Natsuki will send Shizuru out to the border for some reason of the other.
b. We also know that Natsuki had Shizuru come back (from wherever) to help her in the upcoming affairs
c. And we know that Shizuru is well-known enough in Garderobe to have students pinin' and dyin' over her.
Looks like it might be that the Pillars have a rover kind of job, to roam or come back with intelligence (spy :p) on other countries. So they do come in once in a while but their main job is outside. Well... It could be *shrugs*
As to whether Pillars are stronger than Meisters, I propose that they are. So far we only have one example, that Shizuru is stronger than Haruka.
However, it makes sense that Garderobe will want the strongest ones to stay with them and look over Garderobe. Hence Natsuki and Shizuru. And come to think of it, perphaps they wanted Mai as a Pillar and she was torn between that and something else.

Actually, that could be true. There is no indication (even if it is envy of either of them) that she envies Nina for anything more that actually having a father and family to look to for support. She has no parents and no family, surely anyone in this position would simply envy another for having them? Love may not have anything to do with it.

Maybe what you say is true, but there will be chance for them to be pearl too cuz the whole pearl gang are gonna graduate. The corals will be on the next level, just like how we advance from junior school to high school. (Not sure of the western schooling system cuz I am from malaysia).

The way the Otome school works, they would all have to graduated as long as they had a high enough rank in the 51. You can't just leave a giant gap where the old pearls used to be.

Ah but I can see the story will progress a lot faster in the upcoming episodes. Yes some of the class will step up to be pearls. But I think that this will be in the background, and isn't of great interest to the main story.
There will be something different in store for the others, IMO.

That makes sense and would also explain Haruka's momentary lapse of memory when trying to go after Midori. Though it seems to me that she and Yukino are never very far apart.

I doubt this. Even the Nazis knew the value of good leadership and politicians. So...you either converted to their ideology and remained in power or you were sent to the executioner. There are other options than wiping out an entire Cabinet and President. The Romans often kept the political structure of conquered countries relatively intact so that they could have some integration with the Roman political machine. There were Roman governors but local magistrates and tribal leaders to pass on the dictates and laws of Roman rule.

True there will be differences. But I never posited a firm and hard thing one way or another. I just suggested some possibilities and said that they would not necessarily destroy an entire aristocracy or governmental structure. If fact, it was very rare that it happened. The Mongols are one of the few that felt total annhiliation was the way to go.

From what I could get, its Arika and Erstin's voice actresses talking about Mai Otome. But the sound was choppy and the video was worse (buffering issues).
But it looks really interesting! If only I could get it to work correctly...

Edit: Never mind, I figured it out myself. Don't use your browser at all, just paste the link into VLC as if it were a file location on your computer.

Nope, that's indeed Ami Koshimizu, Nina's seiyuu, in her normal voice (which has a much higher pitch than her Nina voice)... For the record, she did Tenma of School Rumble, who is even squeakier than Arika.

Doesn't say so for ep 14 spoilers for this month (maybe just to save space). But still, maybe after 2 episodes in a row with major references to Mai, maybe she'll appear (if only slightly) in this ep.

In ep 15, it doesn't directly say Tomoe is exposed - it looks like Chie tells Arika and Nina who has been harassing Arika all this time, but Chie doesn't necessarily have the right person. Looks like Tomoe's forcing Miya to do things - so either Miya gets caught... or Miya decides she can't take it anymore and "confesses". If it's the later case, then Tomoe is probably expelled and turns to Schwartz or Asward or similar to get revenge...
Also for ep 15, I think it's more like Sergay gets a clue that the true princess is a certain student at Garderobe - "atari o tsukeru" = "to give it a try" according to edict.

Aoi no mai / omoi, chiru toki.
aoi = green or blue but can also mean "inexperianced". However, 蒼天の青玉 (Souten no Seigyoku) is Arika's pendant, and the "sou" bit is the same kanji. "Souten" means "azure sky".
舞 (mai) here is almost certainly short for "舞闘" (butou - ie Otome battles).
So "aoi no mai" is probably like "Battle in the Sky" (but implying Arika's involved).
omoi = thoughts, feelings, hopes, dreams
chiru = to fall, to scatter
toki = time
So something like "When dreams fall". I guess this is a poetic way of saying "end of dreams".

From the NewType spoilers, for ep 16, it's time for the Pearls to graduate, which has a "comemerative battle". Arika and Nina are selected as the Coral representatives for that. Seems this is a "mock battle" not a serious one. Anyway, Erstin decides to help...
For ep 17: the comemerative battle is stopped due to attacking Slaves. Arika takes Mashiro to the castle or something. Nina is split up from Sergay and heads to Nagi. And then Midori and co try to come in too. So like 14 (now 15 probably) years ago, Schwartz and Asward attack the same place at the same time?
Like others have suggested, we'll probably see Natsuki fight this time. According to her character profile, she is scary when angry, so I guess we'll get to see that too :D

With Midori and co entering Garderobe, I bet she'll meet Youko.
I wonder if Aswartd and/or Schwartz are planning to take technology from the school and destroy what's remaining. Only Garderobe has the nanotech for Otome, so if that's destroyed, no new Otome can be made.
Meanwhile, with Nina going with Nagi, will she be leaving the school? If the school is damaged due to the attack, that might well happen. I can easily seeing Nagi luring Nina with being made a Meister "the easy way". With Arika staying in Wind Bloom, that sets up a future Arika vs Nina fight, and next time the gloves will be off (particularly from Nina's point of view if Sergay stays in Wind Bloom).

I suck @ interpreting kanji but the title of Episode 17 has somehow depict the "Changing Point" of the series. I can see that Arika wanting to protect the country and prevent wars b/w Otomes from breaking out. Thus she'll stay in Windbloom and probably help to kill the Slave in Episode 17. Since from the spoilers, we are guessing that Aswald and Schwartz are both likely to be involved, then the Meister Otomes who are in Windbloom to prevent the catastrophe will be Natsuki & Arika (maybe Yukariko). There is no mention of Shizuru having returned to Garderobe, thus it is possible that she has not gone back yet or will arrive on battle scene.
I can easily seeing Nagi luring Nina with being made a Meister "the easy way".
Nagi would probably brainwash Nina & tell her that Sergay betrayed Artai and is the one who sponsored Arika's education in Garderobe. If Sergay can have a spy working for him discreetly, then Nagi can also has his means & ways to dig out all the secret activities Sergay is doing behind his back. I won't be surprised if this happens.

I suck @ interpreting kanji but the title of Episode 17 has somehow depict the "Changing Point" of the series. I can see that Arika wanting to protect the country and prevent wars b/w Otomes from breaking out. Thus she'll stay in Windbloom and probably help to kill the Slave in Episode 17. Since from the spoilers, we are guessing that Aswald and Schwartz are both likely to be involved, then the Meister Otomes who are in Windbloom to prevent the catastrophe will be Natsuki & Arika (maybe Yukariko). There is no mention of Shizuru having returned to Garderobe, thus it is possible that she has not gone back yet or will arrive on battle scene.
I doubt there's just one Slave in ep 17. I bet Schwartz are getting serious, though we might only get a few Slaves at first, then a second wave, maybe with Shizuru returning just in time to help.
With Asward around as well, if Natsuki and Yukariko are the only Meisters around, that'd make life rather difficult - Rado and Midori can both fight pretty well with Shizuru (though I really doubt Shizuru was going full power). Being in the city/school, the Otome won't be able to go all out either. Yukariko would be in serious danger if she has to face all of Asward by herself.

Given that the Pearls and Corals are graduating soon, under normal circumstances, a new set of Corals would be joining. However, with war breaking out (and Garderobe possibly damaged, maybe even having lost ability to create new Otome), that's almost certainly not going to happen. Yukariko and/or Maria might be unable to teach as well. So I wouldn't be surprised if the school is forced to close - and most of the students would leave and return to their home countries.
Nagi would probably brainwash Nina & tell her that Sergay betrayed Artai and is the one who sponsored Arika's education in Garderobe. If Sergay can have a spy working for him discreetly, then Nagi can also has his means & ways to dig out all the secret activities Sergay is doing behind his back. I won't be surprised if this happens.
If Arika does upgrade to her Meister Robe and goes out to fight and Nina sees this, I doubt Nagi'll have to do much at all - Nina's envy would go through the roof.

Just because someone isn't mentioned in the spoilers, doesn't mean they don't appear. FWIW Looks like Arika and Mashiro discuss some things in ep 16. I don't feel like looking up all the kanji, but it looks like Mashiro has been depressed lately (starting from her talk with Takumi) and Arika helps her get over it. I think Mashiro appears in the next ep preview as well (for ep 14).

Unless Miyu knows where Mai is, I wouldn't count on Mai showing up to save the day in ep 17. (Makes me wonder when and how she will turn up though).
Maybe Miyu will help fill in Shizuru on Arika's background.
Nina already knows she has a meister robe. So it wouldn't be taht much of a suprise.
Seeing Arika kicking butt in her Meister Robe would have an impact I think. Nina's been desperate almost to become a Meister, yet Arika gets it easily. And Nina'll be getting more and more worried about Sergay and Arika... A couple of choice words from Nagi and Nina'll probably be putting in his hands...

If you ever watched FMwoS, that is exactly what happened to their male and female leads. If my theory is correct, however, I don't think you have to worry about a Sergey-Arika affair since I think that Rena was probably his Stepmother and he had Nina type feelings for her.

"Wrong" means pretty awesome, if you ask me.
I like to see things that haven't been done before, quite honestly. However, this doesn't mean that I look forward to seeing those two together, or even think they actually will (I have a feeling Arika's love will most likely be unrequited). Needless to say, I sincerely doubt that Arika's going to take the Akane path and give up Otomedom for him.
I would also like to see her with Erstin more, but those two are probably just friends, Besides, Erstin's got the hots for ChibiUsa. ..I mean Nina.

Looks like it. As for Shizuru and Natsuki, they both have hearts too except that Natsuki's line has a question mark below it. It's almost as if, they want the viewers to keep on guessing or something.

I'm not in favour of the storywriters wanting Nina to become an easily jealous leading character like Tomoe. It is alright to be a little envy but Nina is aware that Arika was already chosen to be the descendent of Blue Sky Sapphire after discovering her relation with Rena. Her enviousness would have gone through the roof in the beginning :heh: My love for Nina has rose after watching Episode 13. I like the kindness that she showered to her friends but I also noticed that she was concerned abt Arika's existence in Episode 11. Nina did question why Arika exist and why is she appearing at this point of time. Nina wanted Sergay's attention and love only for herself. This reminds me of Shiho Munakata in Mai HiME series where she would sub-consciously wish for Mai to disappear bcoz Shiho deem Mai's existence as a threat to her. Hence the likelihood of the storywriters converting Nina's fear (insecurities) into the darker side where she'll resort to using powers to kill Arika (whom she thinks is her threat) is highly possible.
I doubt Tomoe will hurt Arika indirectly by hurting her friend Eristin. Since the spoilers for Episode 16 said that she has been attacked by a bunch of guys directly (whom I think Tomoe forces Miya to ask the guys to attack her), I doubt Ers will be hurt. I hope the storywriters will enlighten me as to why Ers doesn't want to be an Otome in the 1st place. It seems that she has been compelled by her family to study in Garderobe.

I'd like to see something more original too, myself. However, it's been shown a couple of times that Nina is somewhat "brittle". Also bear in mind, at around the time of the attacks, Nina will be fighting Arika in the "mock battle", though I'm sure Arika and Nina will not be holding back. Also, Arika will have beaten Coral #2 (Tomoe) to get there. I wouldn't be surprised if Nina feels like she might have lost if the battle hadn't been interrupted by the Slave attack. She may well feel that Sergay won't care about her anymore if she's not strong enough...

That quote isn't necessarily correct in the first place. (ie some people in the story might believe it, but it may be based on incorrect assumptions...)
Here's a list of questions I've been thinking lately:
In Sergay's flashback in ep 2, we see Rena and the queen, with Rena holding a baby with light brown hair playing with Rena's pendant - that's probably the same baby as Rena sent down the river in scene one, and presumably Arika. An interesting question would be, did that happen before or after Mashiro's official birthday? We haven't seen either the queen or Rena looking pregnant either, though Sergay seems unsurprised that Rena has a daughter (ie Arika), so maybe he's seen Rena pregnant. Did both Rena and the queen give birth to a baby at the same time? Was there only one baby in the castle? Did Rena have twins (identical or not)?
According to Sergay, the attack on Fuuka castle happened "just after" Rena retired - and also, "just after" Mashiro's official birthday. (Sergay uses the same word in Japanese). A co-incidence?
Another thing that occured to me is that Mashiro thinks she was named by the old king and queen. If she was, then she was probably given an official naming ceremony or similar (such a thing would be typical for royal babies though who knows in this world). Either way, you'd think a bunch of people would know what the real Mashiro would look like. The baby that minister found has purple (lilac?) hair, while the baby Rena was with had light brown hair - obviously different. We haven't seen anyone else with Mashiro-like hair that I remember. If people in the castle did know what the real Mashiro (before the attack) looked like, then it would have been hard to find another baby at short notice who looks just the same. If the current Mashiro is a fake and was planned in advance, why doesn't there seem to be anyone trying to control her?
If both Rena and the queen got pregnant from the king, then both Mashiro and Arika could be legitimate heirs (though Mashiro would obviously has priority). It'd also make then half-sisters. If Rena had non-identical twins then Mashiro and Arika could be true sisters, as well as heirs. If Rena did get pregnant, and it wasn't with the king, then who was it with (I really doubt Sergay is a candidate)? Putting it another way, if Rena did have a baby and retired just after it was born, surely she would have lost her Otome powers 9 months earlier. If she was going to marry someone, she would have retired first. So if Rena did have a baby, she did it without officially retiring and without getting married.
There's also the question of what Rena was planning to do after sending the baby down the river. Since the king and queen were dead, if there was just one baby (ie the one she sent down river), why go out into the open again (would be better to hide or go with the baby). So it seems like Rena could have been on a further "mission" - possibly to save/rescue another baby.

Still, it has looked pretty likely to me since the start that Arika and Nina would be having a serious fight at some point (ie where death would be on the cards). But I assume the Harmonium will be played at some point - unless the 3 are the three known Pillars, it'd probably be Arika, Nina and Mashiro who play it - which probably means that Nina and Arika will get on friendly terms again.

However, all the evidence points to Nina being in Artai at the time she first met Sergay - it looks cold and Artai is cold (much more so than Wind Bloom). The flashback view of Nina being an orphan on the streets (?) has it snowing. I don't think it gets that cold in Wind Bloom.
Well, we'll have to wait and see...
I just hope that they actually do give a reasonable explanation of things. All too often in cases like this, we only get an incomplete explanation.

In ep 1, Sergay and Nina were coming back from Artai. I guess Sergay goes there every so often. He has to scout for Otome candidates in Artai after all. And he may well have family to visit as well - as in parents, siblings etc.
Demo, we'll get to know the real princess soon isn't it? Most probably when the real princess has been revealed, we'll be able to know who is Rena's daughter afterall.

That would make sense if Arika actually knew her mother's name. Since she doesn't I doubt she even knows where to look or the thought simply never occurred to her. They could look up the info on the pendant but I'm not entirely sure it has all of its past Otome owners. Mai's story seems to be rather unique and thus worthy of it's own history.
Even though I try to follow other posts I do sometimes miss when something has already been brought up, so my apologies if this has already been discussed.

I think we will get the info near the end, when Nina and Arika hear the truth. I suspect that Sergey will be shot when trying to keep them from or stop them from fighting. They will fly to his aid and he will reveal all to them and then die.
