I considered it could be Sachiko - I'm more inclined to think it's Natsuki (it looks more like Natsuki to me) but done in a 'Sachiko-way'. Otherwise there would be slightly too much Marimite on the thing - plus the idea of Sachiko with Natsuki's guns!? Argh.

If you mean ep.10 then I interpreted it more as 'Natsuki being somewhat infamous' - in that they 'loathe' Natsuki. Otherwise it would be a bit bizarre for Midori to send off her band of merry men and face off against Shizuru and Natsuki... Midori obviously fancied her chances!

There hasn't been any direct proof Natsuki will uber - but she will be - they've drawn it out long enough that she has to be strong for the fear of a massive anti-climax...

I put the same thing in another thread!

I want Natsuki to kick Slave (and Mai's ;) ) butt - reputation tends to either comes from doing something really bad, or something really well - so from an Otome pespective, it will be the latter. I was just merely adding though that Midori (and Aswald) didn't seem (to me) alarmed and intimidated at all by Natsuki being there (if anything that reputation seemed an almost negative one, as though they have a lot of disdain for her and Garderobe)

I want Natsuki to kick Slave (and Mai's ;) ) butt - reputation tends to either comes from doing something really bad, or something really well - so from an Otome pespective, it will be the latter. I was just merely adding though that Midori (and Aswald) didn't seem (to me) alarmed and intimidated at all by Natsuki being there (if anything that reputation seemed an almost negative one, as though they have a lot of disdain for her and Garderobe)

Thinking about her lack of materialising that time...hmm...an essence of impartiality I suppose, for whatever reason (being that your right hand lady and one of your pupils have materialised I fail to see the scandal if you did so to Natsuki) but anyway....It did seem a little…weird, for lack of a better word, for Natsuki to stand there and watch Shizuru restrain Gakutenou by herself.

Actually doesn’t she order (order?!) Shizuru to follow Smith, and Midori volunteers to take on Shizuru (as well as un-materialised Natsuki and a semi-conscious Haruka)? Hmmm Midori was incredibly certain of herself – maybe she knew Natsuki ''wouldn’t'' materialise...hmmm.

And true, the dynamics of the scene may have been ruined if Natsuki had materialised then – but it would have been cool if she had done something after entering the scene in such a badass way *lol*. Bless her, she obviously sees it as child’s play or knew Shizuru wouldn’t need any help.

Thanks for the link.. I lost it when all my bookmarks went down the drain because Firefox saves them in the most stupid place imaginable that they get deleted if the Windows directory is overwritten. All I have are old, old IE bookmarks. :( I was going to get around to asking for it.. but it seems I haven't as much time for MSN as I would like, for the time being.

And in a completely unrelated note, anyone finds any Erstin and Nina pictures, I'm buying.. or not, but you catch my drift. I would go on a search myself, but trawling randomly through Japanese pages would aggravate my already pounding headache. In conclusion, they would be much appreciated. I only have... 3. :(

Oh right - in Brit-land it's usually derived from those two but it can be an 'independent' non shorthand name as well.

Now, I have to point out that me and other males like me are wary of fake women not because we believe there is a lack of women on the net, but that fake women exists.

It's a security measure, like locks on your house door.

You put locks on your door to prevent thieves from breaking into your house. Does that mean you believe most people on the street would try to rob your house if your door is unlocked? Of course not. The locks are for the minority only, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't be there.

You said it yourself, Kieli, that you know a guy who uses a female on-line identity for advantages. That's more than enough for me and others to be wary of people who "appear" to be female, regardless of the numbers of actual women on the net.

We rather be accused of being anti-women (if we were against women using the net, what makes men disguising as women so popular?) than be cheated. There is no offense meant, but it's those few fake women that makes this necessary. I will change my mind if you are willing to take your locks off the front-door.

I'm a little surprised you can't tell after a while who's female and who isn't. It's not a simple comparison but linguistically speaking articulated women write quite different to articulated men (gay men are a bit tougher) Some things are extremely tough to 'pretend' - maybe you have to be female to catch the female 'vibes' although given half an hour of continual 'proper' writing then I'm sure you could begin to see the differences.

I usually default to using "he" and "him" just because it's convenient (like the word "mankind" and no, don't give me that PC lecture about gender equality and all; to me they're just words and the whole argument seems silly.)

Heh I'm not that well aversed with online speak but that's very true; I've never seen a male use that either. (Unless the women is actually a man :heh: - Sorry I couldn't resist) But in terms of proper writing, it would have to be a little more than what we have in this thread - short hand responses don't really present too much about the person who is writing. But the episode feedback threads may show it better where the posts are much longer. Btw, this isn't 'essay' writing, because that it guided by a stricter format regardless. So it's more 'personally' written works - it's probably less the physical form of writing being, and more 'how' you choose to write it:

A lot of women write in a longer sentence structure, points may run on in a far more obvious way, it will often include points within a point (point B and C may or may not relate to point A) - or - they'll chop the sentence up far more than the 'norm', (e.g. four incredibly short sentences after another, followed by a 'drift', / or a long line) - emphasising a point based on that sort of syntax than simply ''saying'' it in one go. Men, of a certain age, maturity and level of writing, seem to write more 'systematically'.
(At its extreme, this is probably why 'stream of consciousness', even when used by men, is often considered a female way of writing (these days) - lumbering terms such as digressionist and progressionist on it, although not many people write in either 'normally')

But anyway, often when men start off on a 'tangent', there seems to be a direct note that they 'will' be starting off on a tangent - whereas many women may 'leap' from a subject simply because they feel it pertains to the subject.

Additionally, (mature) women see to draw attention to themselves different than (mature) men - there can often be a different choice of words - punctuation use can vary (note this is excluding blatantly 'immature' posts) but I should find examples to show that better. When an argument starts, men can be more sarcastic, but female rebukes are, well, 'bitchier' without it being 'direct' necessarily.

It's definitely not applied to everyone though: many men can write more 'female' than some woman can heh, and vice versa. Plus some people also write de-gendered (although that is rarer, the only four 'published' writers off my head who choose to do that are Sterne, Emily Bronte, Shakespeare and Joyce) Also, quite essentially on a forum such as this, it doesn't cross over to other cultures/language origins clearly - although the ''manner'' of expression probably still works. As you can tell I'm quite interested in it myself, I'm a great follower of Julia Kristeva. :)


Oh, and I know I haven't posted much on this forum, but can you really tell what gender I am based on my writing?
Actually, I think you're a toughie! :heh: That you responded directly to that paragraph of mine makes me think you may be female, and your name is quite a unisex one. But looking at some of your other posts you can write more 'male', based on particular words you use (on a stucturalist level I mean) - for example 'scouted' rather than 'recruited' - and you also dared to put a NatsukixTakeda combo in another thread thereby breaking the much-loved-by-women NatsukixShizuru shoujo-ai pairing ( :D ) But you could be a girl who prefers hetero pairings, or you're just been sweetly rebellious, that's incredibly possible. And that's not to say I think you're male, because I too often write quite 'male'.

So in conclusion, I think you want me kicked out this thread for derailing it again ;)

Very clever photoshop manipulation....someone rearranged Arika's face for her first Materialise scene facilitated by Shizuru. Looks like they flipped the image and added Erstin's face to Arika's body.

It's great that there is a lot of original art here and people willing to discuss it. That’s pretty rare for image threads. It’s usually just a wholesale reprint of art books.

As long as we keep it clean and keep the chat on images or image creation or projects, everything should be right as rain. If we start getting too risqué or pointless someone will step in over me and lock it down quickly.
