:topicoff: That is one of my great anime to watch. Not as good as RM, not as deep or as meaningful, but the journey of self-discovery of a hawt Ren ... is just good enough to watch.

The characters drink Yakult, I think, so as not to get fat. (Correct me if I'm wrong.) Yakult is a patented drink which contains beneficial Lactobacilli strains that maintains the integrity of one's intestinal strata. I drink one at least two times a week ... I think. But I also think it's just an inside joke with Suigintou's impossibly narrow waist.

But it is pretty funny and lighthearted, and I'd suggest that everyone reads it to get some good laughs. Ren and Miu are the best too.

I personally didn't like the anime because it didn't cover much of the story, nonetheless say that episode 10 was completely removed because of the extreme fanservice that was on it. The entire DearS anime was based off the three first volumes, with only a few here-and-there exceptions. Fina even appears in the opening, yet there's not a single episode in the anime that even talks about her.

Thru-out the series, I always thought of Jun as having an equal level of affection for all three of the dolls that were living with him (Hina, Sui, Shinku). Sure he loves Shinku very much, but I think that he cares equally for Sui and Hina.

I think he cares for Shinku and Hina more because they're the only ones who have opened up to care for him. Especially Hina. As for Shinku, she helped him escape his being a hikkikomori, and to that, he will be eternally grateful.

Don't forget that Shinku had been with him most of the time in his path to get out of his isolationist self. It it obvious that he adores Shinku more compared to the other dolls. As for Shinku, Jun had been there when she got turned to junk, and was there to be her pillar of support when she suffered from the nightmares. I think those somewhat helped bringing them real close. And I noticed that whenever Jun's at home, wherever he is, Shinku always seemed to be a few feet away at most, except when he is going to the toilet to do his business.

As for Sui, she didn't play an active role in helping Jun get out of his shell, and she is constantly nagging at him and insulting him. No surprise their relationship is rocky.

Despite having being "forced" by Shinku, Sui does have much affection for Jun, you can see it really obviously in Traumend. And I think (at least, I'd like to think) that Jun notices and appreciates that.

Actually...I think he doesn't respect Suiseiseki. Or at least those in charge of the show don't want that. Kinda frustrating, really, because I REALLY like Suiseiseki and wish Jun would be appreciative of her. But that would mean giving her a role other than the cheeky, mischievious, disrespectful doll that she, unfortunately, seems to have been permanently assigned to.

That's why I like doujins so much - they allow a different scenario to play out in the relationships between the characters. Unfortunately for the show, it's practically been sealed airtight right from the very first episode in Season 1 that Jun and Shinku are going to be for each other only. As to how far that relationship will go is up to speculation, but it's most likely going to remain nothing more than a close friendship. And we all know Tomoe's already got dibs on JUM. Why else would she continue going to his place and help him? And if not Tomoe, then Nori. Don't forget her dream in Season 1. :D

Actually, this is one point where the manga is superior to the anime. I'm not too clear on the details, but from what I understand...

...Shinku losing her arm is a much more important plot point in the manga. I think it was during a fight with Suigintou over Souseiseki. But she loses it and she goes into a deep depression for a while. Jun and Suiseiseki go into one of those N-Fields and find her arm. It was being held by Jun's own fears and emotions, I think, and it was Suiseiseki who pushed him forward to overcome those problems and help get Shinku's arm back. After that incident, Suiseiseki starts to respect and like him more.

Well, this blaming and pushing is most of the time mostly done in defense, whenever Sui becomes defensive at being caught at something (whether stealing, or caught showing her affection for Jun). So its not like she does it purposely or outta blue or even vindictively, and also it has no lasting harm to Jun imho (except leaving him with a weak shin).

Once she overcame that, maybe Jun will finally see what she's really like and starts showering her with more affection.

But if she still couldn't do that, I guess throughout Season 3, she would have to sulk as she watched Shinku and Jun sticking to each other like glue.

Oh wait, maybe start of Season 3 has a depressed Suiseiseki (after all, Souseiseki's dead) locking herself in her box, and Jun's gotta cheer her up or something. Maybe that will make them closer or something.

But I'm sure that whenever Suiseiseki sees Suigintou, chances are, she is going to go ballistic. Remember what Gin-sama did to Suiseiseki's twin sister.

Yep. I think by the end of S3, after losing Sou and Hina ... she'll be more forward with her feelings towards Jun ... and that will be a source of some filler episodes, where she'll probably muster courage to be a goody-goody to Jun.

Gin will probably improve as well. I wonder how they're going to pull off Kirakishou's appearance, however. But maybe pressure is the catalyst on why they will act like they will.

Sou developped to a point where her personality demanded more respect than Shinku's

I have never liked Sousei Seki. Probably because of her appearance, mostly. (I don't like women who pretend/look like men, sorry.) But also because Sousei Seki went against her sisters only to please father (Who was Enju in reality). Or maybe because that part of her attitude makes me remember of myself. I don't know.

Still, I don't know if Sou deserves more respect than Shinku... after all, we see that Shinku became more powerful than any of the other dolls and has made most of the big decisions througout the anime.


As for Kanaria, I don't think of her as a replacement to Hina, but as a "dead" character. Sure she had some good scenes at the end, and even managed to rip off Bara's arm, which shows she is pretty powerful when it's needed; also on the episode she took down Sou, Sui and Hina. Sure, Kanaria is fun and all, but Hina's type of "fun" character is different. Kanaria's not innocently fun, she's sillyously fun.

On the other hand it would also be ok, if nobody wins. I already get a Tenchi Muyo feeling, season 5 and no end in sight...

Yep, I respect Sou, and I have nothing against her. Its just that with someone like Sui around, being unobnoxious = boring, so for me there's really nothing to talk about in the case of Sou. I'm pretty neutral to her.

My apologies if I haven't been keeping up with the posts here.., but I have been doing alot of reading in the Fate-Stay section..; I've just started watching the series and I wanted to understand what are the misteries that happen behind the story, etc.

Anyway.., I saw this quote by Mince, and all the talk about Sui so.., here is what I think regarding the following...

Then I say a Suiseiseki character development is in order. Even Suigintou started earlier than her in this department.

Once she overcame that, maybe Jun will finally see what she's really like and starts showering her with more affection.

Oh wait, maybe start of Season 3 has a depressed Suiseiseki (after all, Souseiseki's dead) locking herself in her box, and Jun's gotta cheer her up or something. Maybe that will make them closer or something.

In this case, I don't think Gin's character development started first then Sui's..; altough we do see mencione to Gin on the first episode already.., up until the very last ones of the 1st season we only see her as an Antagonist..., little or none information is given to us regarding the motives / feelings.

I belive Gin's role is to be followed like a straight line starting through season 1 and continuing in season 2 in order to observ her full character development; from antagonism to compassion.

Much like Gin, Sui / Shinku / Sou & Hina also follow a straight line in development from season 1 to season 2.
In the case of Sui, we actualy do see her development starting much sooner then other of the Rozen Maiden.

In the first episode we are introduced to her she has a compleat (I would say hatred but more..) dis-regard for humans.., and we do see this all through the episode.., but near the end where there is a part where Jun stands his hand out for her to grab, her opinion towards him starts to shift..; in other words.. this can be called the "trigger" effect (and I'm starting to sound like Kyon here though).

But after that she clearly can "stand" Jun much better...; this altough dispite what happens in the following episode, the Stair wars.., but that is just on how "devious" her personality is.

Another huge aspect of her character development is when Lenpika is sent by Gin towards her, and Jun stands to protect her..., while seeing him in pain she despite at first saying "I can't let a human save me", yells his name (as in she cared for him), and even ends up sacrificing Amethyst Dream for him.

All of this leads to the culmination of the affection towards both in Traumend in the episode where he acepts to be her medium; at first in this episode we do see Sui still beeing rather reluctant towards asking Jun for that.., but that is just how she is...

Shinku's words when Sui was first introduced where "...she is the shyest of all the sisters"..., this despite beeing the most devious.., it clearly shows us that the only way she would form a contract with Jun would be if Jun lowered his "pride" a bit and make it seem as if he was the one who needed her (this is best seen in the scene where she tries to give Jun the umbrella, see the dialogue there).

But knowing Jun..., he is not the most easy-going person arround so.. it had to come to a dangerous situation where he asked her for the contract.

Never the less.. we do see Sui taking respect for Jun.., there are moments where Jun's decisions and will seem to follow the "right" ideals.. and Sui does praise that in him.

@Solwy - What wallpaper are you up too next ? Is it Rozen Maiden related ?
If you have time I can find a nice Ilya timeframe for you.., but since this is :topicoff: I will better PM you..; altough I am sure all of us here would realy enjoy a Ilya wall from you aswell :)

I also think that Kana is sort of a replacement for Hina.., altough we did have a good character development in Hina starting in the first episodes of season 1 ending in the lasts of season 2 where she goes silent.

But I recon since her fate was already layed down from the first episodes.., it was natural the series would require another "chibi" character with mostely the same caracterists as Hina, to give the series more humour.

All and all I find Hina to be more complexed in terms of character development the Kana.., maybe its because her role came to a conclusion (for now); but never the less Kana also has a huge affection for her medium.., after all.., the first episodes where she is trying to defeat the Rozen Maiden is all because she wants them for her medium.

Never the less.., now that Hina is gone.. and until she returns.., Kana fits the role perfectly in my opinion.

As for Sou..., I have great respect for Sou.., and I've always said that her motives where those of greatest honour..., much like what drives Gin through the first season.., Sou's love for father ends up beeing bigger then herself.. thus.. she puts them above everything else.., even her sister and herself.

I guess the reason why we don't talk about her much is because we are all confortable on how her role ended up..; I know... I felt realy sorry she had to die.., but her development had been done for such since the begining...

The self-sacrification ideal that she always has hold for something she belives in is indeed her greatest aspect and also her greatest burden.

The reason why she didn't acept Jun as her medium was simply because she already had one.., we do not know at what time she was awakend.., before or after Shinku ? Nothing is mencioned.., thus.. beeing as loyal as Sui was to her master.., I would very much doubt that she would exchange him for Jun or anyone else.

Well, it is obvious that Suiseiseki's shy. Beneath the layers after layers of nastiness is a very shy core. The character development I was talking about was trying to be less shy, which is what dominates her personality. She has yet to be direct with her feelings for Jun, while Shinku starts to leave behind her arrogance and Suigintou began to leave behind her coldness.

Has anyone ever noticed anything different in the TV-size version of HnR, that just makes it a bit more noticeable than HnR full? What I mean is that, whenever the TV-size is played on my playlist, even if I'm not aware that it's the Tv-size (Since WMP usually stays minimized), I somehow know that it's the TV size right at the beginning. I'm aware that at the end of the first sung part, though. But still, it's a bit strange to be able to differ.

Lol, I didn't pay attention to the Gundam section, and I don't really follow the series closely. Kira is going to go 'Nani?' when Lacus suddenly starts laughing like Suigintou.

The laugh was what made Suigintou so memorable. I had yet to see an anime character who could laugh like that, and whichever anime character than can laugh like that probably had Tanaka Rie as the VA.

Tea bags, eh? I can help with that. First, place the teabag in the cup. Then pour fresh boiled water (we use boiled water on any tea that's in teabags), then steep for 60-90 seconds. Pull teabag out of cup, and then drink!

You can reuse the teabag for another two times before the taste is totally gone. But mind, the taste deteriorates with each pour.

I wouldn't say Shinku is obsessed with Kun Kun.. or wait..., maybe she is.. :p
All and all, it seems that its the first TV show she ever saw; we do see her sometimes speaking to the television as if she thinks that Kun Kun can hear her.

This leads me to belive that the last time she was awaken Television wasn't available for everyone; this due to the fact that it was shown a scene of her and Gin fighting over some corpses of soldiers.., probably in the WWI or WWII.

Either way.., Kun Kun is a keen-eye detective which always makes the smartest choices, so naturaly someone like Shinku would gravitate towards him in terms of personality.

All these fancy words to say she is a fangirl, plain and simple :p

Naturaly the show catches on.., for some reason all the rest of the Rozen Maiden seem to be drawn to it.

Could it be because it is done with puppets ?

As in Gin once said while "tormenting" Shinku in a fight.. : "you know what I've always wanted to do Shinku.. ? , I've always wanted to play with dolls.. "

Once again, either way.., don't go comparing this to other aspects in which that other peach-pit character is obsessed with coins.., its clearly not the same thing..

Not only is it a cultural thing, but owning a makura is the highest form of true otaku fandom. Same applies to those who collect PVC figures. I collect rare pillows rather than PVC. Its more of a preference than anything.

Or for looks as well. Most dakimakura's look VERY nice as throw pillows as well. Most of mine that i own, i treat as throw pillows. But yes, hugging a Suigintou to sleep is very tempting, although the thought of hugging Komugi (Nurse Witch Komugi) is even more tempting >_<

i was thinking the same thing, but no, as of today, there is NO official dakimakura of Suiseiseki or anyone else. These two are the FIRST and ONLY makuras of Rozen Maiden so far. I am sure there MIGHT BE FAN MADE dakimakuras, which are just as nice and legit, but i have searched Yahoo Japan Auctions and have found nothing.

Seeing that Peach Pit just recently released their own official makura's of Shinku and Suigintou, i will expect to see a Suiseiseki one in the future without a doubt.
These RM makuras are a HOT item and are practically being sold out everywhere. Every Japanese online shop that had pre-orders completely sold out within 3 days. The popularity definately will give Peach Pit 2nd thoughts about making more ;) Especially a Suiseiseki one. So dont worry, there definately will be one in the future. Suiseiseki is my fav..if i find a makura of her, i'll be sure to tell you ;)

Well first I thought you had changed it because you where afraid that someone didn't like it, but after reading the comment properly and seeing you posted both here aswell, it seems you where realy just trying to make/improve diferently for yourself.

The original one is I say, outstanding.., and then could it be true that the white one is even better ?

Kirakishou will probably stand alone. I doubt Bara will ever come back, and I doubt Enju will make another Bara. He loved the original Bara so much that with her shattering he should have already sunk into depression and left dollmaking to lock himself somewhere in the N-field to grieve.

On this, I'd love to see some cooperation between Shinku and Gin, if only out of necessity. About Sui vs. Gin, Its pretty hard to say. I mean, either Sui holds a vendetta against Gin and will never forgive Gin and madly try to take her on (if she does, it'll be sad, because I admit she'll be owned :() OR she will hold to her intention of not using violence to acheive Alice, i.e she won't forgive Gin, but she won't attack her.

About Bara, I doubt she will come back. She served her purpose in S2, and thats that I guess. Then again we never know what those writers have up their ink-stained shirt sleeves. Hina, however, is an entirely different matter. The writers had better have something up their sleeves for her. :heh:

in all honesty, Bara's character was written very 'bland'
in a way that only worked in "the Terminator", not in RM

She struck me as the silent psychotic type, but in the end, even when her motives
were revealed as doing it all to please her father
there was nothing but her 'design' to like or miss
Her character was empty her purpose as a "threat" to the other RMs worked
perfectly, but almost like a bullit, not the one holding the gun
Without any backstory or showing any form of personality, she was more like a tool used for S2

I prefer to take care of Suigintou or Barasuishou. I am thinking in economical way because I never saw them eating plus yakult is not that expensive.

As for Kirakishou, I don't know what she is likely.

I can have tea with her while discuss things that needs a ton of know-it-all to understand. And she is going to help me with my housework. That will lighten up my housework burden every weekend.

Suigintou because, I admit, I'm a Suigintou fanboy. She is nice in her own way. She has shown that she does have compassion and is willing to do anything for the well-being of her medium (like what she did to Megu), though she tends to mask this with a tough exterior. And 'sides, she does remind me of myself. But of course, she will end up giving me more housework to do, since, as we see in S1, she has a habit of shedding feathers periodically.

Well, we can see that. Although being a Suigintou fanatic, I prefer Hina Ichigo. It's a great balance between maturity and childlike-characteristics that I personally think I'd be a happier aniki if I had siblings like that. (I have a problem w/ my younger brother. I think Bara would put up a good fight against Kara, but I guess the other RM's defeat at the hands of Bara was because she was clever enough to have them turn on each other first.
That'd be the match of the century for me, but it would be even cooler if Bara went rogue after being rebuilt or something

Why would I ditch Bara? They might get along. We never know if she changes her personality in season 3 if she returns.


It would be interesting to see if Barasuishou has 1/2 of Kira's Roza Mystica and Kira gets one half as well. Then they'll be technically twin sisters.
