It would be interesting to see if Barasuishou has 1/2 of Kira's Roza Mystica and Kira gets one half as well. Then they'll be technically twin sisters.

I doubt it. Kirakishou, being a legitimate Rozen Maiden, will probably have 1 perfect Roza Mystica for the other Rozen Maidens to go after. Unlike Barasuishou, who doesn't really have one, which is why she crumbled in the first place, because without the Mystica, it shows that she is not a Rozen Maiden. The Roza Mystica is proof that the doll is Rozen Maiden.

And Kanaria turns around and counterattacks at Barasuishou:

As much as I'm biased towards Suiseiseki, I think I'd rather have them all, even Barasuishou/Kirakishou. Having only one would probably make her sad, so I'd end up getting them all so that they'll be happier.

If I were the given the choice of adopting one or more Rozen Maidens:

For reasons of practicality, I'd probably choose Souseiseki because she's quiet and sensible. I'd be left in peace for the most part. But then, I'd feel bad if I had to separate Souseiseki and Suiseiseki, so I'd adopt Suiseiseki too!!

After all, Suiseiseki is my favourite out of the lot...she can be a little, um, very hyper at times, but she's not too difficult to mollify (Jun's just not as adept at handling her as he is with Shinku :heh:). I have a lot of science textbooks to read to Suiseiseki!!

I'd be careful not to let Hinaichigo join the lot, though. As much as I like Hinaichigo (second favourite), Hinaichigo + Suiseiseki = chaos.

I think Porcelain can take some very high temperatures, so its no problem. Plus they rarely go out of doors without their Cases, and I'm assuming Jun's place has A/C. Its a wonder how he keeps his windows closed most of the time. Anyhow, they do have to put their dresses in the laundry, like we saw in S1, but I don't think its because of smell, more like dust and the like. You see that they didn't remove their inner garments (I dont wanna say underwear :uhoh:) so I doubt they sweat. Haha.

It would be tough to teach Suiseiseki Calculus. I think the Suiseiseki and Souseiseki will ace in biology.

Kirakishou would get the honors on how to make mutant plants and should deserve a scholarship.

Somehow, I think Barasuishou and Shinku will do good in every subject.

Gin will fail everything I think, despite her smartness.

Heh, experts in an archaic science. You beat me to suggesting experts in linguistics. Since they have incredibly long life-spans, they could contribute to long term R&D projects - if they are willing cooperate that is. I'd lend Suigintou some of my programming books since fanworks always depict her trying to learn how to use a computer. I just worry about the horrors of the internet she might come across (see most of the stuff Flo has posted so far).

Though I am not very much concerned about what to teach them - though I would still think it would be important. No, rather I would make them cute clothes to wear and snap pictures. Oh, and make them dance with the pretty clothes on. Uhuhuhuhuhuhu~, how awsome that would be. :love:

Heterochromia is definitely real, but it tends to disappear after the person reach a certain age. However, Suiseiseki and Souseiseki's condition are made, and are very obvious as well. I had friends telling me that they knew people with Heterochromia, but the two eye colours tend to blend in well, so one may not notice at first glance.

Actually those housing estates are what I want to see. No better way to experience a country and its people/culture by observing the way they live day to day. I also read about this notorious housing estate in HK that was like a city itself (apparently it was controlled by a Mob(?), it had connecting bridges between blocks, the ground floor didnt get much sunlight, if I remember correctly; but it has been destined for demolition alr) that really really fascinated me. After all, the people make the country.

Suiseiseki doesn't call Jun "chibi-ningen" anymore by the end of Träumend!! I can't believe I didn't notice this previously. It's very cute when she says "Jun" though ^^

Also, does Suigintou do her "evil laugh" in the second season? I don't think so, or have I missed it?

I've been watching certain memorable episodes a second time. There's a lot of detail I previously missed! Amongst the more shocking revelations:

Suiseiseki doesn't call Jun "chibi-ningen" anymore by the end of Träumend!! I can't believe I didn't notice this previously. It's very cute when she says "Jun" though ^^

Also, does Suigintou do her "evil laugh" in the second season? I don't think so, or have I missed it?

I thought we hear that happening already in the Traumend drama CD. But yeah, Tomoe is the Maidens' greatest threat in terms of getting Jun's affection. A human will always be attracted to another human unless he lives in a world where there are no other humans and only dolls (I am beginning to suspect Rozen's mental health).

And the Souseiseki's racer.......yeah, crows! The greatest enemy to the dolls since cats! But Megu isn't much reliable either. She has congenital heart disease, dammit. Who knows when she will suddenly collapse in the middle of the race. Suigintou is better off flying.

And I'm surprised Hinaichigo did not choose to ride a cat. I mean, she has tamed the cat!

Secret Bonus: Laplace's Demon gives Bara the ability to call up a portal right under any opponent's cart of her choice, thus sending them to.. erm.. Oblivion.

Megu: Straight out of ICU, and with Congenital Heart Disease, this underrated piece of Junk has an advantage in that it has nothing to lose, no, not even her life. With Slavedriver Gin right behind her, this is one "cart" not to underestimate.
Secret Bonus: See that IV Line she's holding? It contains ADRENALINE. Yep, ADRENALINE, aka NITRO. +10 speed and reflexes over 20 seconds.

Secret Bonus: A testament to her supreme cunning and blatant deceit, Water-Klart spouts a heatseeking spray of magic-growth solution that Klarts an opponent's cart in an instantaneous beanstalk outgrowth! ~works only on soil desu~!

Rightfully, it is christened Rose Tail, for a detachable boot panel releases a spray of Rose petals that blinds all opponents hoping to overtake her.

Shopping Buggy: Pink Cuteness! Our strawberry maiden pilots this light and agile buggy-cum-top-loader, still full with Nori's groceries, under whose nose this cart was driven away. Hina is serious about this, with her red mascot tied in front of her cart, and steered expertly with propulsion from a fire-extinguisher, this cart will own in navigating the close corners and sharp turns of the SuperMart's aisles.
Secret Bonus: Everything has a reason: Top-loader basket tips to spill obstacles and slippery milk and sticky strawberry sauce that cripples any opponent's carts too close to Hina!

LE-7A: Kira will soon go where no Rozen Maiden has gone before, strapped, unwillingly, to her fate. Tho primarily intended for blazing across dried lake beds, that bummer of a combustion cone will surely launch Kira into Low Earth Orbit, in which she can spend 5 hours 26 minutes 14 seconds contemplating her evilness and cursing a certain Bunny before Low Atmospheric Re-entry.
Secret Bonus: Kirakishou has calculated that her trajectory will land her RIGHT on the finishing line.

I belive him not to have been Sui's first medium, altough I am pretty sure that Sui did not have a good experience with her past ones.

As we all remember when we first saw Sui she realy despized humans, and would not stand for a medium no matter the circustances; of course, this was also due to the fact that she could not stand to see Sou suffer like she was at the hands of her medium just because of her devotion to him.

But still, from most of the flashbacks we see from Shinku and Hina, etc. Its clear to me that they did not have a medium that could understand them as better as Jun did, nor to give them such freedom as he does aswell.

All and all these are diferent times then the ones we saw in the flashbacks, but still given all things considered, Jun is after all a good person.

So naturaly I belive it would hurt them alot if Jun where to die..; maybe that will happen as a "trigger" in season 3.., currently our imagination is the limit on what can happen then..
I still hold great hopes for a Gin + Shinku vs Kira fight :)

Even without the flashbacks, it's pretty obvious that Jun's a different type of medium compared to the Shibisakis and Micchan: though they might love their dolls a lot too, only Jun treats the dolls as, well, true individuals who are humans' equals, should I say? Being so powerful, he may be the only one able to defeat Kira (or whatever other powerful antagonist) and doing so will require a sacrifice, e.g. overloading the enemy doll with his energy; a bit like that explosion Bara does. I don't know.

About Shinku not fighting, even if she doesn't initiate any battles, she may still have to fight to protect herself and her (truncated; i.e minus Hina) lot from the aggressor. So if it comes down to that, its really not her choice..

I think Gin will be affected much more than she'll care to admit. She does love and care for Megu, imo, its primarily because she sees herself reflected in Megu, thus helping Megu may be a way thru which Gin helps herself too, to escape from the scarred mindset of Junk she has.

Well the storyline is very different, in particular when it starts to deal with SuiSeki and her twin... So it's not about the old man who trapped Souseiseki as "Kazuki" but a real evil man which does not seem to like Rozen and with whom Sou contracted...

When Rozen started trying to create an Alice, the first doll he made was Suigintou. So originally, Alice is supposed to look like Suigintou, seeing that she is the imperfect Alice prototype.

I think Kirakishou has a physical body, but I notice there is a lack of doll joints on the shoulder area. Maybe she is the closest to Alice compared to the other dolls? (Then again, she is totally insane, so she is probably furthest away from Alice-hood in terms of personality)

As for the French version of the manga mentioned above... HOLYSHIT I forgot to go get it at the bookstore I ordered from <_< Wtf. Finals = Death.

I think Rozen had a large number of ideas on what Alice should look like, and he ended up making 7 dolls. Suigintou being his first idea.

Then he sent them off to interact with people, and make them their mediums. This is to develop their personality. After all, what's so perfect about a girl who has the perfect beauty, but a rotten core?

And he is possibly curious of the morality of his creations, so he let slip the Alice Game, and even gave them attacks and weapons, just to see if they are really going to fight or if they are to co-exist peacefully. Probably why he stepped in and remake Suigintou after she was defeated by Shinku in S1. He probably thought that with Suigintou's defeat, the other dolls are going to think twice before starting an Alice Game. And he doesn't send Suigintou off to a medium for a while, just so that the other 'daughters' who had known of Suigintou's 'death' will suffer some pain of losing a sister. The most affected one was Shinku, who used to fight Suigintou often and earnestly before meeting Jun and discover Kunkun.

And he is wrong with some of the dolls. Namely, Souseiseki. Can't blame Kanaria and Kirakishou, since they didn't know about Suigintou's defeat.

I think he is enjoying himself watching how the dolls behave and interact with each other and mediums, probably explaining why he preferred to hang back and watch.

And finally, Rozen must had been impressed with Shinku's stand on pacifism, even when Enju coaxed her to fight. And it is probably from Shinku's lead that Suiseiseki and Kanaria went for pacifism as well. So that may explain why in the final scene, he chose to speak to Shinku rather than the others.

And why doesn't he 'ressurrect' Hinaichigo and Souseiseki? Souseiseki chose to join the Alice Game and she lost, and she has to bear responsibility for making the wrong choice. Hinaichigo, well, I don't know why he didn't choose to 'ress' her though. But with them losing their Roza Mystica, it stands as a second reminder of the consequences of the Alice Game, and he didn't ress them to warn them that he is not going to be lenient if they are going to fight again.

Honestly, its really pointless to debate and wrack our heads on why Rozen did this, why Rozen did that. In the end, will we even find out? As far as I know all this are just blind conjectures.

Now having just said that, let me wrack my head on why Rozen made them all so different. :heh: :heh: :heh:

Diversity. I guess thats the name of the game. Just like in nature, Conjugation in bacteria facilitates propagation of genetic variability so as to ensure diversity, thus increasing survivability in harsh environments, and from competition etc.

Rozen probably felt that having all this variation would increase the chances of having his perfection found. "Let me toss this sugar, spice, and everything nice (and evil) into this boiling cauldron, roll them around and we'll see what gets cooked!"

Which makes me wonder, why didn't he just include all those on ONE doll?? Maybe he didn't want to create it, he wanted it to develop, almost evolve, on its own.

What I meant is this: Rozen told the dolls that the Alice Game is a way to become Alice. And it is, the fastest way, but also the most violent way. What he was probably hoping for is that these dolls had independent thinking to protest against him (which Shinku showed by the second last episode of Season 2) and has the morality to believe that fighting is wrong. Just like some parents who told their kids to go and steal, while they are hoping that the kids know well enough that stealing is wrong and he wouldn't steal. The dolls know full well that fighting is bad, but are they really going to choose not to fight when Rozen revealled that fighting is a way to become Alice?

We know that Suiseiseki is a pacifist from the very beginning, but I'm not too sure about the independent thinking part. Maybe she had independent thinking and decided not to fight, EVER, no matter what Rozen said.

You give a good foundation to your speculations here Lost, but all and all I belive you mixed a bit the concepts.

Diversity yes.., as we all see all the dolls have many diferent aspects from each other.., despite the fact though that we could sometimes pair-them in terms of level of "perfection" achieveded; like Hina+Kana / Gin+Shinku, etc.
It still makes each have they're own "unique" caracteristics, specialy when it comes to personality aspects.

All and all, I belive the road chosen by Rozen to achieve Alice was not as long-term planned as you might have ment.
What I mean is...

Rozen from the start wanted, or wished to created the perfect doll, Alice.., I belive his desire was not to create several dolls and then give them the chance of one day becoming Alice.

Gin was the first doll he make.., but as we all know she failed to become Alice.., despite beeing incompleat she lacked compassion amongst other aspects; thus this lead Rozen to try again.
Not the original he plan he had in mind, but since he had failed with his first doll to acomplish his goal, I belive he then decided after to try diferent aspects while creating them as in hope that he would then succed in creating Alice.

Allas.., it was not to happen aswell.., despite having changed several aspects in each of the doll he created as an atempt to create Alice.., all had they're own flaws and imperfections.
Yet in the end he probably realised that each would complement each other.., specialy if they learned to grow emotionaly; so that lead him to belive that even though they came out as imperfect and flawed to Alice, one day one of them could eventualy become her.

It is a fact.., all of the Rozen Maiden when it comes to Alice are simply just flawed atempts.., it sounds harsh.., but I belive when Jun asked Enju regarding this aspect.., Enju replyed that without Love they could not have been created.

Thus, even having failed at Alice in the begining, Rozen still loves them all.
He ended up not beeing able to create Alice but he did end up with 7 very distinct unique dolls.

To me though.., the closest to Alice in my opinion would be either Shinku or Gin, both after Traumend of course.

We all saw the dolls grow alot in the course of both series, from Hina's selfishness changes, to Gin's learning of compassion, to Shinku's and Sui's having to deal with loss and to Sou's compleat devotion to her ideals.
But I feel that Gin or Shinku share the best aspects emmotionaly to what "the perfect girl" as intended by Rozen should be, specialy after all they went through.

Gin's love for father even surpasses Sou's.., for even though Sou only chose to enter the Alice Game for her desire to give Father Alice; Gin still loved Rozen even though he created her imperfect.
Altough she went all out and compleatly dis-regard anyone else, once she was defeated and then met Megu.., her ideals changed, and she no longer cared for herself alone.

Shinku also very similar to Gin belived she had to fight the Alice game as in, her duty, reason to exist.
Despite these ideals having been the ones that gived Jun the strenght to pull himself out of depression, they still lacked the side of consequences; which Shinku up until after she defeated Gin always overlooked.
Thus.., after she acknolodged that the casualitys of fighting had a much deeper impact then she ever realised, like Gin.., her ideals then changed.

So, I find them both to have been the ones who have grown e the most emotionaly.

I am not leaving out the fact that Hina's development wasn't good either.., its just.., trying to see things as in trying to reach a level of perfection as intended by Rozen, the aspects we did see change in Hina did not reach the same level as the ones we saw in Gin nor Shinku.

Also, we will definitly require to see a season 3 as on how the loss of Sou afects Sui, and just to what point was Kira mentaly flawed as not to have become Alice when she was created.

On a last note..
Regarding the Alice Game, I belive Mince's explination was quite good in the previous post.
On the other ways that exist.., well, our imagination is the limit on what we could speculate regarding this.

Well, at the end of ~Traumend~ we did see Laplace No Ma holding both Hina's and Sou's Rosa Mystica..., dancing along with Kira..
Leads most of us to belive I guess.., that Kira is getting those two Rosa Mysticae.., making her even more powerfull..

Why Rozen did not choose to bring Hina and Sou to life can be discussed on several aspects.., I belive though.., since they both had willingly chosen to take part of the Alice Game.., Rozen could then not revive them if they had lost; as such happened.

If they ever will live again ? There is that possibility.., on "how" exactly no one can tell though..
Again in the end of ~Traumend~ we see Rozen speaking with Shinku saying that "there are other ways to become Alice", and also sort of gives her the "task" to find a solution to Hina and Sou.
In which even Jun says to Shinku.., "you can do it.., I'm sure you can do it.."

Yep yep I understood what you meant. An analogy using the same parents: They ask their child to steal, hope he/she won't, because they think he/she knows better, but punishes him/her if he/her does? I meant it was cruel in that sense :heh: Asking someone to do it, and GIVING them the means to do so, implies to the child that you WANT him to do it, and that its fine to do so, doesnt it?

The thing is, with the AG, even if that "child" doesnt steal, he/she still suffers! The parent has set it such that h is damned if he steals, and damned if he doesn't. (i.e. in the AG, even if one doll doesn't fight, she still suffers.)

Because, the way I see it, even if one doll makes a moral decision NOT to fight, she still has to content with the others, who may not have that morality - She will still be affected by the AG, even if she doesnt fight, just because of the fact that she is a Rozen Maiden Doll )its almost as if its their curse).

In the end, she still gets "punished" too, even if not directly by "parent". Thats why I say that Rozen is cruel.

Not the original he plan he had in mind, but since he had failed with his first doll to acomplish his goal, I belive he then decided after to try diferent aspects while creating them as in hope that he would then succed in creating Alice.

Allas.., it was not to happen aswell.., despite having changed several aspects in each of the doll he created as an atempt to create Alice.., all had they're own flaws and imperfections.
Yet in the end he probably realised that each would complement each other.., specialy if they learned to grow emotionaly; so that lead him to belive that even though they came out as imperfect and flawed to Alice, one day one of them could eventualy become her.

It is a fact.., all of the Rozen Maiden when it comes to Alice are simply just flawed atempts.., it sounds harsh.., but I belive when Jun asked Enju regarding this aspect.., Enju replyed that without Love they could not have been created.

Thus, even having failed at Alice in the begining, Rozen still loves them all.
He ended up not beeing able to create Alice but he did end up with 7 very distinct unique dolls.
Hmmm.. I like that, specifically the parts in bold. Complements Mince's view, but I still cant help feeling it would be cruel on his part, far from love, unless it was a selfish love (obsession, maybe?) for Alice. But I like your theories; how he created such diversity because he was trying again and again, and how he realise their potentiate to develop, and how he set the Alice Game as a test of their free will and morality - I shall adopt them in my quest to understand RM!! :D

Definitely, not everyone would view Alice as being perfect to the extent that Rozen would view it. But I think that the standard of Rozen is so high that when Alice is borne (if she is), it will make people (at least those in the Anime) go WOAH.. But of course, we viewers will have our own preferences that may not agree with those of Rozen. To each his own?

Yep, but not exactly. She can take some RosaMysticae, she had SouseiSeki's one while fighting Shinku (If I remember correctly). But she couldnt take ALL that RosaMysticae because shes not a legitimate Rozen Maiden, her body couldn't withstand all that power, Enju didnt build her up to Rozen's standard I guess, and so she disintegrated.
