I never understood what people found so endearing about Souseiseki...I mean, over Shinku and Barasuishou? I think she has one of the best doll designs, and I liked her personality in Season 2, but =/

For me it's my personal list that matters and it has Suigintou on 1st, and Suiseiseki on second. ;)

And we are talking about the "Popularity Contest Results - TBS Official Site", which is obviously is populated by people who dislike blond hair dolls. Thats the only sensible reason I can think of why Shinku is number 4... Unless of course it was because she didn't want her sisters to get too jealous of her and she decided that coming first isnt always the best thing. Or Suiseiseki was entering everyones dreams and manipulating the results, but since she was so busy trying make sure that Souseiseki came 2nd that she didn't realise Gin sneaked in there and nearly pipped her at the post!

BTW you might only see two different backgrounds for the stages (the space one and the forest) but if you Useeither Suiseiseki or Shinku and play story mode, beating both Sui and Shinku first (or vice versa) you'll then fight Hina Ichigo in her "Dream Stage" background. (that place with all the toys)

Oooo yeah I love it when she eats her Uyuu and recovers health. Her have a fit waving her arms around is a super cute attack :) as is her defence move. Gahhh she is just too darn cute.

I haven't been able to do the microwave attack yet, I need more training!!!!

How did you find the game? I thought all of the moves and voices fit the characters perfectly, especially Shinku's rush in knuckle sandwich attack. I was desperately trying to reproduce the holly, followed by a punch :)

It would be great when they finish the game and even better if they are able to create an online function to it too :)

Is Jun financially better off after meeting Shinku et al?

Before Jun met Shinku he used to waste his money on trying to buy cursed dolls. He brought a stupid amount, but sent them back to get a refund. I would guess he kept a few and would have to pay for p&p.

After meeting Shinku we can see that the cost of food has increased dramatically, lucky he doesn't need to pay for broken windows etc. But in S2 if you look on "Shinku's shelf" you can see she has built up a fair collection of Kun Kun stuff, including what looks like a DVD collection and of course the Kun Kun detective kit.

Now since Shinku has already pointed out that her servant's possessions are hers and hers are her own I'm pretty sure that's Jun's cash that was used to pay for it.

So IMHO he is far worse off financially (but better of spiritually) now then before.

Conclusion, in the past he spent money trying to buy cursed dolls and now cursed dolls spend his money...

The title's standard Engrish it's probably not meant to mean anything deep. Unless you fight Kunkun as the final boss or something :) On the player select screen go down below Bara, there's a another player character the arrow stops on but without a picture. hmmm... laplace?

Hmmm Laplace... Not too sure about him, but my gut instinct is to boil him and serve him with lashings of tomatoe sauce. So if he is a hidden character I shall take great pleasure in skinning him and rolling him in salt before dropping him into a pot of boiling water *drool*

So far I'm doing best with Hina, her "Honda" attack, followed by her errr screaming err waving hands around attack, finished with the bottom stomp seems to do really well... I'm gonna need a translation of all the moves, its getting really hard to describe the game :p

I haven't seen any new information about it, but I'd guess that it'd be Rozen Maiden Season 1 retold in Visual Novel form. Which is ok, if they didn't reuse scenes from the anime >_<

It'd be good if they did an alternate retelling of the anime, like Mai Hime: The Another did. They could have alternate dolls, like the alternate Hime in MHTA.

Looks like this fangame's pretty popular. It's OK I guess, and I'm looking forward to playing as Bara in the full version. Out of the fangames I've played, it's the best one....

You don't have to, if you understand the storyline but watching the first season is highly recommended because when I first watched Traumend without watching the first season I didn't really get it.

I think from what Google translates that the individual characters are there so you don't need to dl the whole game again for updates. It seems to be the same if you extract the individual files out...

I would watch S1 just for the dolly fanservice, the RM edition of snow white and for Sui's how to wake someone up extreme style...

Also even though Epi5 is pure filler, it is one of the best episodes (I think most of the artists accidently added speed to their coffee instead of sugar). Most of the Hina's and Sui's attacks in the games comes from this one I believe.

Yes.
You'll be missing out on ALOT (not plot wise, but being familiar with the characters and all) if you skipped the first season. Also, season 2 will have a much bigger impact if you watched the first season first...

I thought Jun´s season one problems were interesting. And at least I would not want to miss the whole characterdevelopement, esspecially Shinku´s.

I found season 1 a lot more compelling then traumend. I really like Jun's problems and Suigintou was a more interesting villian then bara or the rabbit. And the ending kicked ass, so many degrees of awesome.

Why do you think that? Are you saying that she did a "better" job at villainy than Bara or Laplace?

Gin's character design, voice actor, annoying laugh, Yakult thing, and of course her revelation at the very final ep of S1 (which led to the much, MUCH more interesting S2 Suigintou) being the reason why fans liked her. I never really thought she was anything special as a villain, I always felt she was more like Dr.Robotnik than King Hamdo (basically, I personally felt that she was pretty generic)!

Overall I just end up having more sympathy for her as a villian. It probably is more accurate to say I find her more interesting than her traumend version. I was able to associate more with her feelings of inadequacy and revenge than bara's single minded zeal to kill everyone.

On Laplace I not quite sure what to think. He seems more like a side character thrown in to do something more important then what actually went down.

I hope Kirakishou is a better villain/hero than Suigintou in season 3. We all know she might be the most powerful for now because she has 2 additional Roza Mystica at her disposal.

If the recent manga chapters are any indication, Kirakishou is far more evil and psychotic than Barasuishou ever was.


Oh lord, chapters 33, 34 and 35 have to be some of the scariest, most disturbing content I've ever seen from Rozen Maiden. People who are upset that Hina died in the anime should be grateful that she went out peacefully there, and not the way it just happened in the manga.

Kirakishou possesses Corinne (the granddaughter of Hina's former Medium) to get at Hina Ichigo, then once Hina is trapped and frightened, psychologically tortures her with illusions of everyone telling her "goodbye". Once she has Hina cornered, she kisses her..and roses start to grow under Hina's skin and burst out from her body. Hina is screaming for help, and Kirakishou just stands there and watches, smiling psychotically.

Shinku somehow intuits that something bad is happening to Hina Ichigo and goes in search of her. She finds her in Kira's N Field...or rather she finds what's left of her. All Shinku can see are Hina's disembodied legs in the darkness (her legs look, if not actually are, severed and blood stained) and Hina tells Shinku that she can't return to where everyone is, because Hina...has been eaten up. :upset: <----since there's no "screaming in horror" smiley, I'm using this one) Berrybell then gives Hina's Rosa Mystica to Shinku.

Kirakishou seems somehow more obsessed with the Rozen Maiden's actual bodies than with the Rosa Mystica--I haven't translated the whole scene yet, but she was saying something about her body while Hina was being consumed, and she obviously let Hina's Rosa Mystica get away to Shinku. Yet she said "This is all for the sake of the Alice Game"...but how is "consuming" Hina's body and apparently not caring about Hina's Rosa Mystica playing the Alice Game?

Uh... no, not really. Reason #1 is that the main character isn't trying to get jiggy with any of the female dolls, unlike Chobits. There are other reasons (such as the dolls already being fully fluent in language, feeling, meaning etc., which Chii wasn't and therefore the series focused on her learning stuff a fair amount), but I'd say the lack of 'romance' is kinda the biggy for me.

Judging from the size of my RM folder, that site should contain about half a gigabyte of fanarts there. I scour through the site every day, saving nearly every new image. I've been doing this routine for over a year now. Of course, the site does not find all RM related images, however, but gosh darn it, it sure does contain a large majority of them. Anyways, enjoy.

You know, instead of being extremely exasperated and hostile toward you guys, I want you two to sincerely and seriously explain your reasons for disliking Shinku. So I may understand your basis your hatred of Shinku, and judge you through those reasons. I most certainly gave earnest rationales about my animosity towards Junk many times here (and elsewhere) before for you and everyone to consider. I'm just frustrated because I can't comprehend why you guys dislike Shinku. Having a bias of being a fierce Shinku fanatic, you guys have a difficult job of presenting satisfying reasons for me. I don't really hate Stink...ok ok Shinku, From the beginning of S1, My first impression of her I find her arrogant and queeny. Infact I dislike Gin and Stinku from the beginning, until a friend (Another Stinku hater) smack me a RM manga into my face, that's when I change my opinion for Gin (yay Megu). I do have a change of opinion for Shinku when she reveal her inner self, but when she return to her arrogant facade I immediately get turned off. I guess the first impression of her is dug deep into my brain.

Simple term:

I think, Shinku would be a quite pleasant person/doll to have around, and of course she is my favourite doll.

Shinku appeared to be a bit arrogant in episode one, but that changed, and I started to like Shinku very much after episode two.
She did not take Hina´s rosa mystica, which is basically violating the rules of the alice game and disregarding father´s authority. The same thing later happened with Canaria in "Träumend".
So she questions rules and is a quite independent spirit. I like that.

At heart Shinku is a nice person, protecting her not so powerfull sisters. A little "snobbishness" should be tolerated imho.

Sui would not be as half as cute with out her interactions with Jun after Shinku turns him away from the golem path and what would Gin be without her? All in all I personally think all of the S1 characters complement each other and i can't imagine anyone of them without the other and _they are all_ perfect in their own way.

I don't really hate Stink...ok ok Shinku, From the beginning of S1, My first impression of her I find her arrogant and queeny. Infact I dislike Gin and Stinku from the beginning, until a friend (Another Stinku hater) smack me a RM manga into my face, that's when I change my opinion for Gin (yay Megu). I do have a change of opinion for Shinku when she reveal her inner self, but when she return to her arrogant facade I immediately get turned off. I guess the first impression of her is dug deep into my brain.

In addition to what I said above, I think I should give an example to illustrate my point. Consider the air of how Shinku drinks tea: how she pulls out her own tea cup and base, how her every movement seems to be quite proper and composed, how even her taste in tea is very discerning (how she gathers so much information from a mere sip) thus refined. Is she trying to be arrogant in this example? I'd say, no. I feel the way Shinku drinks tea captures the very essence of Shinku, and we can glean a lot of qualities of her personality from that act.

Incidentally, when I was first watching Rozen Maiden, in the very first episode, seeing how Shinku behaved for the first few minutes when she first appeared, I also thought she was haughty and holier-than-thou. But soon later in the episode, when I observed how Shinku drinks tea, that impression was promptly shattered. It is that precise scene, that precise act, that captured my mind and heart, that pushed me down the road of becoming and being a Shinku fanatic.

さて、感謝祭から今頃帰ってきましたよ。
別に報告なんて既に腐るほどされてるんだろうけど書きたいから書く。

１．ローゼンメイデン特別編制作決定。ただし、詳細については一切不明。
　　地上波で放送なのかＯＶＡなのかすら不明。ただ決定したという報告だけ。
２．ＳＲＤＸ金糸雀が６月に発売。水銀燈、真紅、蒼星石の発売も決定した。
　　雛苺は皆様の応援しだいということらしい。
３．福岡で４月の終わりごろに開催される祭りでローゼンメイデンが公式イメージキャラクターに 採用された。
　　麻生大臣も来るらしい。

他にもいろいろあるけどまあいいや。
とにかくすごく楽しかった。
翠星石から蒼星石への手紙の朗読と、蒼星石から翠星石への手紙の朗読が特によかった

I came back from the Appreciation event guys.
Since there's probably a ton of reports out there, I will just write what I want to say.

1. "Rozen Maiden Special Edition" is a announced. Specifics are unknown.
Whether its even on TV or an OVA is still unknown. Only thing that's certain is that its decided.

2. SRDX Kanaria is scheduled to be sold in June. Suigintou, Shinku, and Souseiseki is also decided.
Hina Ichigo would depend on the fan's support.

3. A festival in Fukuoka that's planned to be held in April, plans to use Rozen Maiden as their offical character.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Taro Aso is also planning to attend.

(It is well known on 2ch and on the Japanese wikipedia article, that Minister of Foreign Affairs Taro Aso is a fan of the Rozen Maiden series and many other manga. Since he's also one of the canidates for the next prime minister, there's a chance that a Rozen Maiden fan is the next prime minster of Japan.)



My personal feeling is 80% probability that its an OVA series, and 20% probabilty that its a 3rd season. They also mentioned to look at the website later for further information.

Yargh it was non otaku in London (it was an old mans pub too).... It started coz a friend asked to see what my psp was like and didn't have any games on me only RMS2 so he had a look and suddenly we were surrounded. Trying to explain whats going on after 4 pints to people who think anime = cartoons that is just Sponge Bob Square Pants is not the most easy thing I have done...

Yep although some people seem to dislike Ali Project, I think their songs fit quite well to the Rozen OPs.

I absolutely LOVED the animation style they used for the Traumend OP, hopefully the third season OP animation can match or top it with a creative style like that.

Well calling anything the best is purely subjective and RM isn't perfect, but being entertaining is exactly the reason why I like it so much.

I loved the lighthearted comedy parts more then any of the action-centered episodes. There was just something special to it, sure there's plenty of comedy series out there but sometimes it feels forced in a way. Here in RM, well this guy has all these magical dolls living in his house what else do you expect to happen but laughs galore^^

Sometimes it is hard to believe how mainstream manga are in japan (though I read about it).
In germany this would be unthinkable. The country has got a very underdeveloped comic culture.
You could be an Asterix fan as the german minister of foreign affairs without any major problems, I believe, but RM or Anime/Manga like that...?
I think the oposition here might use it against him/her. :)

A new OVA or season 3 would of course be nice.

There will be time for character development. I love character development. And Hina Ichigo is just a sweet, sweet girl. Kirakishou will come and despite her face act like Kanaria or Hina Ichigo.

And then Rozen finally starts the Alice Game, and then Shinku would battle with her father ... 'I don't want to fight, otou-sama.' And then the problems plaguing them will arise again. Or maybe perhaps Laplace's demon would come out and do something really evil (play them).

Speaking of the manga, it's great it's stil ongoing and there is possibly for more story and anime seasons. On the other hand, I hope it doesn't get drawn out though, I'm not too fond of super long milked out storys such as with some of the popular shounen mangas.

The ultimate goal of being Alice and now saying there are other ways leaves open countless possibiliities. Still the writers could easily makes endless story arcs about them trying to reach it, new villains, characters, reviving dead characters (still not really fond of reviving in any anime, at least as an excuse to for them to come back and fight another day again like that one show) in some interesting way but never actually being able to for a long long time.

Not saying I'd just like it to end, if they can make another well thought out story arc that would be great but not to drag it out. The reasons I think this is that the main facts of there being only 7 dolls for example I thought would limit it; course now we know other makers can create dolls as well so who knows.

Maybe there could also be some sort of prequel. I'm sure there must have been several Alice games in the distant past as well.

Even if Rozen Maiden ended with Traumend, I'd still be relatively contented. There was enough closure although it was open-ended. I have a big problem with Hina dying, however, that's life. I mean, not all anime that you love have perfect endings, so this will have to do.

I'd be glad if I didn't know about Kirakishou, or if the OVA brings a final closure to the anime. Like Neaco, I don't want milked-out stories ~ having Naruto as a great example of that idiocy.

Shinku was well - and her statement - 'that, I will have to bear.' brings some sort of closure as well to the story. I mean, it still could stand alone, so I'd have that rather than a cascade of never-ending RM seasons: it's best to end it right now.

Speaking of the manga, it's great it's stil ongoing and there is possibly for more story and anime seasons. On the other hand, I hope it doesn't get drawn out though, I'm not too fond of super long milked out storys such as with some of the popular shounen mangas.

According to what I remember reading some time back, the manga is supposed to end at book 7. I'm not exactly sure though...

Didn't Kira wander off with Hina's Rosa Mystica at the end with the *beep* rabbit...

In the manga though Hina was 'killed' by Kira, her artifical spirit Berrybell kept her Rosa Mystica and later passed it on to Shinku who accepted it.

I don't like Suiseiseki that much because she's always picking on Hina ... but she somewhat grows on you. I mean, even Suigintou grew on me by the second season. I wish they became like Flo's posted picture some pages ago where they were all in their teens, and Hina was like woah (the sexiest) among them.

Hee hee I did see that picture, actually when i first saw it, it reminded me when recently we were watching Commando and suddenly we realised the little girl is the bird out of Charmed.

I have always liked Sui, she and Hina are a team and they bounce off each other and make the situation even more funny. Also you know Hina will have her revenge through the croc or just the fact that Jun will believe her over Sui...

S3 will be especially sad when I imagine how much she will miss not only her sister but Hina...

@physics223 - Ooooo thinking about your favorite episode, Hina won twice there. Once against Sui since she got her letter to Jun although she should suffer a penalty since it was unreadable. The second time against Shinku since she tamed the wild beast aka the cat.

@everyone else who uses FF and is suffering from RSI from downloading all those images, check out Image Toolbar Extension it pops up a floaty toolbar over the image that allows you to save it....

Favourite ep from RM should be the stair wars .. from RMT, I dont have think there is much... a bit of funny here and there .. but if I have to choose, then the Hina death ep would be very touching :sad: ep for me

For me the highlights of RMT was Sui trying her hardest to not admit she likes Jun and then trying to get his attention. It only really has impact if I keep in mind all of her shenanigans....


Hina's death was too touching, I thought the writers handled it very well.


I just read a few chapters of RM manga and I have to say I prefer the anime, which I think is a first for me...

Since Hina died, I think season 3 is going to have a Kirakishou with a different personality unless they revive Hina and kill her again.
