Actually it's pink eyes with snake-like pupils. But yeah, Suigintou is beautiful but those wrinkles have got to go!

I had to agree with the wrinkles. Remove that and her beauty will reach the divine level.

Been reading non-stop for the past 6 hours, about 10 pieces of litterature ranging from Rip Van Wrinkle (Winkle? I don't give a f*ck anymore -_-). (Actually Wrinkle really goes well with the discussion about Gin, lol.)

All of you are right and I love you all.

Also thanks for the comics. I basically gave my first and last daily lol of the day. I needed it. (Except for my brother doing the most hilariously painful face, just to say "I BIT MY TONGUE ;__;" afterwards. )

mmm... I REALY like Gin, not just because of her caracter & story which realy touched me alot, but also on how she was drawn.. to me she is by far the most beautifull of the rozen maiden's, and also costume-wise.

Trying to look at things from a guy's point of view now.. : I supose they are all "hawt" :P (apart from the chibi's of course)

So I would realy consider Gin as Very Beautifull in my prespective, and Shinku, Bara and Kira as just "beautifull"

I'm realy sorry.., I didn't like Hina that much.., I realy felt sorry for what happened to her in Traumend, but after the 1st season and with the appearence of Kana.. she just fell a bit into shadow in my eyes; she is still cute, but for those reasons to me she comes in 3rd on that category...

Now.. Sousei Seki.., she is the bigest problem... doesn't fit in any of the three :P

You know all the anime I watched Solwy, you know I go for them because of the story and/ or the comedy; and Rozen Maiden to me is an outstanding acomplished Anime, from many points of view.. story, plot-changes, character development, relations to problems such as depression, over-devotion, an all possible choice for explaining reality, etc.. I just could go on and on..
That's why I like it so much..

Oh.. and of course.. the fact that Suigin Tou is probably the best Antagonist I ever saw ! :p
Sorry.., but its true.. :) despite how amazing Bara was drawn and all the aspects of her personality.. she wasn't as near as a good antagonist as Gin was in the 1st season, and still is "partialy" in Traumend.

Also despite Bara beeing by far strongest, I still think that Gin beats her all arround.

I wonder how Kira will turn up to be.. specialy when she has Sou's and Hina's Rosa Mystica; courtesy of Laplace..
I remember seeing this sentence in another post on AP also related to RM and I couldn't agree more : If Bara was a fake and she was ALL that powerfull, now imagine Kira, the real one, with +2 Rosa Mysticae.

consider yourself lucky in a way, since your first experience of Traumend is in widescreen format. The rest of us had to watch the low quality Traumend.
Actually the reason I haven finish watching Traumend is because I didnt want to watch the low quality subs. I had tried the first episode of chacha and animelito, but immediately after watching I decided to wait; I was hoping AF would take it up, but Ayu came along. I put alot of emphasis on quality (meaning resolution) :)

I want it too. However, I'm not able to put my hands on an Asian PS2 version, therefore it's said it won't work. Since my PS2 is basic and not unlocked, I suppose I can't play it for a while. But it'd be very nice if someone uploaded this into a torrent website and shared with the community. I could burn it on a DVD and stare at it all night.
But I've heard the game follows about the same story in RM (or Traumend, not sure), therefore it shouldn't be much different from a Movie-based game. (Which became quite popular, because you don't have to watch the movie to know how the movie ends anymore :P).

Hmm, I wouldn't say that. But it's true that nowadays we don't see many >REAL< girls on the internet (have we ever seen this?), discussing about anime. Since RM is an anime about Dolls, I think that some types of girls find it even harder to swallow than guys, amazingly. I was trying to get a friend to like this the other day, and she said to me:

Well, I think that Rozen Maiden's not an anime of "small endings". Take Chobits for example. Wow, battle, fight, drama, all that stuff. And it finishes all calm and everyone's happy and you get that big question mark on your face and go "shit.".
I think RM will have a more drastical ending, even though it's not something I'd like to see, certainly. Seeing Hina and Sousei Seki (not in my favorites list, I must say) gone really had an impact on me, I wouldn't definetly like to repeat the experience with the other ones.
If Kira's really supposedly as strong as it's said, we might have much bigger deceptions than we expect right now. But it's something only time will tell for sure.

Anyway.. I am counting that if anyone can bring her souls back someday, it has to be Jun.

Yeah, that's something I couldn't understand at the end of Traumend aswell: Why didn't Jun do anything to bring them back? Is it because the Maidens are more special than the other "simpler" objects? I think that in the end, we'll definetly see some doubts cleared, specially as to Jun's special power of fixing that clown doll and later Shinku's arm back in place. (I wouldn't think that if you sticked her arm back in it's place, she'd be able to move it. There has to be some linking to her soul and body for that, and that's not something she's able to do alone.)

You should also place Gin under beautiful. Her beauty is not cute, however ... it's hot.


I guess I understand it from both points of view. To me, Gin looks amazingly gorgeous. It's hard to find a character that has all the characteristics that make me find a buch of "agglomerated pixels" together cute/hawt/beautiful.
However, there IS something in style and acting that makes her "hot". It's not that she's got a great body, e-cup breasts or nicely toned tighs: it's her way of acting, her sexy but fine looks, and her clothing. Gin's clothing is certainly the most revealing, and the most "sexy" aswell: dark colored, full of laces, she wears boots, has those grim-looking eyes, and her attitude aswell is something that most guys would find "hot" in a real woman.

But I definetly wouldn't think of her as a Sports Illustrated model, for example, which has only a favorable body, instead of a whole set of characteristics that makes us passionate about.

And Gin isn't even my favorite. I find Shinku much more int othat category: It's because of her untied, long, blonde hair, her eyes, and her fine attitude.

But again, it's just my opinion. Not to be taken seriously by everyone.

But then if Shinku fits in all those categories, Barasuishou and Kirakishou should fit in there as well.

Well, Bara and Kira really do fit a bit with Gin for that matter (to me, that is.). I guess what makes a lot of people "turned out" from Kira and Bara is the eyepatches they wear. Not many guys would find girls with eyepatches cute, certainly.
But I really do find them really cute. Kira in special, she's alongside with Gin in my list of the "cutest", my way.

Souseiseki is definitely out.

Sorry, but Sousei Seki stands in the "almost-malecharacterplzgtfo" area.
J/k. I think she's not really portrayed like Gin, Shinku or Suisei Seki in that she's not to be thought as a "cute-appearances" character. Even her clothing makes her look like a guy: she wears a funky hat (of which I don't know the english name <_<).

Hmm, I wouldn't say that. But it's true that nowadays we don't see many >REAL< girls on the internet (have we ever seen this?), discussing about anime. Since RM is an anime about Dolls, I think that some types of girls find it even harder to swallow than guys, amazingly. I was trying to get a friend to like this the other day, and she said to me:

- Well Jun did bring the clown doll's soul back, there are even flashbacks of that in Traumend when Enju tells him that it is not possible for one to bring a soul that was lost; so clearly Jun is realy something special..
Also I remeber at the end of the 1st season in the battle between Gin & Shinku, Gin was compleatly amazed when Jun fixed Shinku's arm and she said things like.. "how can he repair a piece that was broken.. only someone presented by father or a maestro could do that; has such a person finaly arrived?"
Which raises even more questions :P

No no, I know about that. Most of my female acquaintances are otakus too, so it's not that I think there aren't many female otakus. I think that the problem is that there arent really many who have watched RM. And RM isn't actually "New", it's just "unknown". The first RM series aired in October 2004, so it's 1 1/2 years old by now. Traumend isn't, though.

Well, from what I've seen in Rozen Maiden, nothing happens "by miracle", like in some other animes that we've all seen. So we'll definetly get our answers by then. (Hopefully, lol.)

Anyway, thanks for the support. I owned the damned test, and left only 1 of the 40 questions blank, and answered only about 2 or 3 in doubt. My problem now is the essay I had to do, which I drafted yesterday in about 2 hours (Should've been a 2-pager), but I think I probably just repeated myself ('twas late and I had already spent 6-7 hours reading <_<).

That is from a Traumend episode when Sui is making a phone-call trying to find herself a medium right ?

That is something that also has me puzzled..., remember in season 1 on how Tomoe got Hina.., she got a phone call and the voice of a man asked her a question (will you, or will you not - something similar).., in which she eventualy said yes and thus she got Hina.
When Sui is on the phone looking for a medium, she says exactly the same first words, (will you, or will you not, etc) and then as follows the quote (if I'm not mistakened that is)

Leads me to wonder how the entire process of on how one could get a Rozen Maiden does happen..

In the case of Jun it was the letter.., in Tomoe the phone-call.. and then in Gin on traumend, when Meg finds her in the church.

It realy says nothing on how Sui, Sou and Kana came to awake in this period; we all supose it was the old man (sou's master) who awoke her, and Michan for Kana, but the question still remains on how they first got them..
(Maybe Michan just happened to buy Kana by accident :P )

It also gives us no reference to how Gin awoke in season 1, we surely take it she had been awake before since she realised when Shinku did.

Thing is.., in the case of Tomoe we hear a man's voice saying the phrase.., could it be.. Father ? or Laplace.. ? and why did Sui use the same phrase (but with ~desu), is it part of begining the contract ?

I dunno if season 3 will answer any of these.., I have my doubts.., but that's what in part makes Rozen Maiden so amazing.., the loose ends that make us wonder so much :)

mmm.. I don't think any of the artificial spirits have the ability to speak.., nor writte for that matter..., Jun's letter had written Holie as the corespondent, but that might just have been something to trigger the box from showing up containing Shinku.

Altough, altough, the role of the artificial spirits is still very unclear aswell, and what they're parts be in the episodes ahead..

We so far know that they can be taken by other rozen maidens, much like the rosa mysticae, but also they can be taken back, as we saw when Sui and Sou recovered they'res from Gin in episode 12 of the 1st season.

That and despite they're abilities, we don't know anything about them, why they exist and even why they where created in the first place :p

All and all, I also have to say it probably was Laplace that made the phone-call to Tomoe.., since he already knew her in season 2, in which she then led Jun into Enju's workshop where he was.. it all fits..

Back to the spirits though.., something interesting about MeiMei.. Gin only used him once and it was to counter Holie in episode 11 on season 1.., I wonder if MeiMei had any special ability...

We see Amethyst dream, pizzcato, etc provide weapons for they're masters.., in the case of Holie I thought that he was the one to provide shinku with the rose petal's, so in that case MeiMei had to provide Gin with the feathers.. but it doesn't look that way since Shinku often summons Holie into the battle several times while using the rose petals aswell.

Hmm... though that might be a possibility (the parent theory), I really don't think they'd comment that on the anime if it didn't have a purpose. For example, there's a pretty "long" scene where Jun sits with Shinku and tries to read a book in German. She even jokes with him, saying that if he concentrates, he might share abilities with her and read. She then tells him she was lying. (Even this makes Shinku look somewhat cute, sometimes. For her to go out of her normal self, that is. )

I think it might have a further explanation in the series.

I think that the quantity of wings / petals, etc. is based on the power of the Rozen Maiden..., we have seen that when using the power from a medium they become much stronger; though even without a medium they must have a degree of limited power they can use.

As in the 1st season Gin didn't have a medium, so she was fighting on her own.., she ended using using great quantities of power in alot of feathers, and eventualy when near the limit she sent out a last strike with one of her wings to take down Sousei Seki and Suisei Seki.

We also see the protective barriers they used beeing influenced by how much powerfull they are; in traumend when Gin meets Bara, she stroms her with feathers, but its not until when she starts to drain energy from Meg that she is able to send a father through Bara's barrier.

By the way, in that scene.. the way Bara says "Sugoi" its just amazing...

I wouldn't really say Jun is related to Rozen directly. A few pages ago I made a whole "essay" on Rozen's origin and the time-span of Rozen Maiden. The last encounter Shinku had with Gin was over 65 years ago, by the way Gin accounts it in hours. (I made the calculations, lol.)
And Shinku also explains that it is very rare for two maidens to be awake at the same time, which really brings about the age of them. I'd say they're over 200 years old. Therefore, Rozen couldn't be in Jun's direct family.

However, the do might have a part of the family that relates to him, somehow. This would definetly explain Jun's excellency at doing manual labor and his ability to fix the Maidens up.

About their spirits, all I know is that all of them are named after Female perfumes. Sui Dream, though, is the one that sounds the most kickass to me. (With Suisei saying it like "SUIIIDO DUREAMU").

Well, in reality, I'd doubt that Jun could eventually surpass Rozen.

In the anime-context, yeah, I'd say that if that were to happen, he probably could make a doll as good as the Maidens. Or he could even create Alice, with enough teaching...

Then why disperse the dolls? Why not just dump them all at Jun's front door? Unless, of course, Rozen does all that so as to find a worthy successor, not only focusing on Jun, but any people that have interest in Dolls (Kana's master comes painfully to mind). And regarding Suiseiseki, it is very clear that she really likes Jun (we see that in Season 1 where she gave Suigintou her artificial spirit because she couldn't bear to see Jun hurt, and in season 2, two or three more episodes). Probably she even planned to make a contract with him after a day or 2 since she met him, but too shy to ask, until Bara came and forced her to ask.

Lol, actually, I was reading the "Currently Active users Viewing this thread" and that popped up.

But nope, Shinku was only able to move because Jun "switched" her on (Using their respective keys). You can see in the very beginning of Rozen Maiden, that when the little girl (who really looks like Hina. I was amazed at how they looked alike) turns Shinku on (lol. Sorry, can't find a better way to describe this.), and gets terrorized at her walking towards her. Then, Shinku is put back into her box and sleeps once again. Without making a contract, they can't "live" for long.

I can't quite well describe Gin's reaction. Maybe she's even always "On", since she doesn't seem to have the "plug" for her key. When Megu opened her box, she simply came out of it, without any keying to her.
Maybe it's just what Shinku says, that Gin's energy by itself is powered by her own willpower. I don't know.

Anyway, I think i've already mentioned this before, but I can almost bet that Gin has been "finished" when she was rebuilt, after the first season. Probably by Enju, so she could serve their purpose for Bara. That makes Gin an... Enjozen Maiden, I guess.

Which makes me wonder, Hina Ichigo will stop moving a day or so once the link between her and Jun is cut. However, Suiseiseki can move for like, months without drawing power from a medium, and Suigintou can last centuries.

Gin was finished after being awakened by Rozen at the end of second season, also Rozen got her back after first season, but he still didn’t finish her. There are a few scenes when Gin is touching her torso with sad expression, also when she was “killed” by Bara she looked like she didn’t have anything in the place of stomach. I think she was completed at the end of Traumend, because she matured, thanks to her relation with Megu she become somehow “full”, she found other emotions, like love and will to sacrifice for someone. She became more humane, what is IMO the ultimate purpose for Maidens. Don’t you think, that at the end of second season, when Jun is calling him, Rozen is pictured somehow like a Good?

That doesn't make any sense though. Rozen is a guy, and no matter how much a guy loves a gal for her personality, he always has a desire for her body. If what you was saying were so, it would be an illusion.

I was saying Rozen was trying to get the dolls to become Alice by making them achieve two criteria, making them perfect in looks and perfect in personality. And the 'dumping' is a way to achieve the perfect personality part.

It isn't like a dollmaker to make their dolls incomplete, so I am thinking he is planning something in regards to Suigintou.

Shinku said it very well in Traumend when she was apologising to Suigin Tou... "everyone has inside a part of them worthy to become Alice"

That surely explains that each Rozen Maiden has its own "unique-ness" (sorry if its bad written).., and through out the 2 seasons we have seen those aspects grow and mature..

I'll take the example of Hina to start, first she was very selfish, only wanting things her way, etc.. just like a small spoiled children.., but at the end, after what they all went through she had compleatly changed.., even Shinku said to her that she had matured.

Shinku is another.., she was alot more arrogant and with very defined prespectives.., but when she lost her arm she became aware of how Gin probably felt, and then after what happened to Gin she compleatly understod that the prespectives she had defined which included to become Alice above all where not right, for there was great loss in battle.

As for Gin, the feeling in her message is compassion (though this is best comproved in Traumend); in the 1st season she represses her anguish and depression by using spite, because she has always been alone; that is why she hates everyone arround her, it has sort of become her shield.., but when she finaly is defeated, she gives in to her true feelings which are sorrow, sadness and love for father, because he had made her incompleat even though she loved him so much.
In traumend when she meets Meg, she sees in Meg herself, henceforth the compassion; Megu does not possess the same "shield" as Gin to shutter her drown emotions, so she simply has given up the will to live; which is probably what Gin would had done if she had not been presented with the chance to become "compleat as in Alice" and then finaly earning Father's love; so thus Gin feels as if she has to help Meg, for she can relate with her feelings compleatly and since she is aware that deep inside she has no self-confidance.. she does not want to see Meg having the same fate.. so she realy dedicates herself into trying to save someone that is just like herself.. as she also would wish someone would do that for her one day (altough she would never admit it..)

Every character in Rozen Maiden is full of complexed feelings and emmotions that as the story drives onward they compleat themselves.., thus that is all probably part of a journey to the path to become "Alice", the girl devoted of purity, beauty and perfection..

In regards to the German books, it could be that Shinku gets them by going through the mirror in the store room.

About them moving before a contract... What I think is that there are 3 power states, self powered before contract, powered after contract and pwned.

Before their contract "something" sets up their meeting with their medium to be and they are self powered through their spring (or Yakult for Gin). In this state their powers are limited as we can see from Sui's attempts of fighting in the real world. Next is contract power which we can all see the effects of. Finally there is being pwned, where a power sourve doesn't matter since there is no Rosa Mystica to use it.

The two exceptions:

Gin - Yakult jokes aside, I think that her missing her torso is what allows her to be as powerful as she was in S1. My thinking is that the torso controls and limits the maidens power, and her powersource was her anguish at being junk. So in S2 when she meets Bara she no longer has this anguish because of her meeting with Meg. Nothing picks people up more then meeting someone more tragic then yourself.

Hina - She was pwned and she should have lost her Rosa Mystica, but Shinku decided to break the rules and provide power to her from Jun. The thing is I think that the contract and ring binds the Rosa Mystica to the dolls physical form. Why did Rozen suddenly cut her off? Well I believe that Kira woke whch caused Hina to stop since all the true maidens were awake at the same time.

The timing of the Alice game may indicate that Rozen isn't a street fighter freak and wants perfection through violence. Why? Well this is the first time that all the maidens have been awake at the same time and that the Alice game can really start. The maiden's could have awaken all the times before to try to become Alice in other ways and finally if they could not achieve that, then Alice game mode kicks in.

Only one small matter: It would be kind of pointless if he dump them to their mediums because he wanted them to mature and have perfect personalities; because, ultimately, those personalities won't matter, in the end, out of the 7(?) dolls, only one would survive. Unless, in stealing the other dolls Rosa Mysti, a doll also got some aspect of its personality--But But... the actual Killing did change some dolls personality for the better, take Shinku for example, it made her more understanding... BUT.. then again, it can also work the other way, instead of improving its personality, it makes it worse, and in the end all Rozen gets is a Violent Killing Machine.

I'm quite distracted by my disorganized thoughts on this topic. I've been quite an idiot recently (too much exposure to computers, I guess). I couldn't even write a three-page essay well, but that's that ...

I watched Rozen Maiden and Traumend in a single-day binge. That means I analyzed and understood the storyline and the plot, but didn't really take time to dissect it. I have seen your different takes on this topic and I must say they are refreshing and intellectual.

(I have to SERIOUSLY rewatch RM and RMT.)

Ergo Proxy, on the other hand, is way too analyzed by me, because it's just that kind of anime which invites and merits over-analyzation ... it also helps that I watch its each of its episodes twice a week. Don't worry, when I'll have the time - I definitely would because I'd have a month's break from school (and Internet) - I'll rewatch it and dissect it ... very finely.

Suigintou simply realized that all her repression and free-floating anger was futile, really. You can be a soursop all your life and still be discontented. That is what repression usually brings: discontentment. Instead of being content with anger, one just gets deeper and deeper into it (and offends more people as one dives).

I must say that the characters of Rozen Maiden are well-crafted. Their subtleties could par with Ergo Proxy (of which I am a fanboy) but they are without the philosophical and intellectual baggage that comes with EP. In short, they can be human in all complexity without being inhuman. Do you get my drift?

Humans are complex beings, but they follow a pattern. Although we usually ordain ourselves intelligent we still are simple, really. This is what RM attains very well: the humanity of humans and of dolls. It also attains well our psychology ... and anthropomorphically and flawlessly places this psychology into the dolls.

Overall, and I'll say this time and again, this is a very wonderful anime. I couldn't choose between it and Ergo Proxy, however ... but I do know that EP may descend into Speed Grapher (as many people say) but I still treasure it.

I think this is because I haven't eaten and drunk water! That's probably why I seemed so lethargic today... it was very hot and I haven't drunk water ... now I know why I couldn't pwn that essay of mine. Grrr ... I was hyperventilating a few hours ago. So this was the reason.

Yeah unfortunately. Kirakishou really did kill Hina. This is why I think she killed her.

All the RM knows that the Alice game has ended or postponed. Only Kirakishou doesn't know that.

When she killed Hina Ichigo (by destroying her body), she said "It's all for the Alice game" or something like that. I think I may know why she said that.

Kirakishou is the youngest of the RM therefore she may have the least knowledge about the Alice game. She may be going for the typical approach. Since the Roza Mystica is inside the body. It is natural to break it open to take what's inside.

But as long as the Roza Mystica is intact, it's okay. The body could still be repaired. We do not know that yet.

Gin's death in season 1 never affect me that much because I disliked Season 1 and am pro-manga Gin fan. After a change of heart in Traumend for Gin and got killed again in episode 12 I went, "Shit..." and that's all then Gin got repaired "Phew..." and "lol" when I see Hina and Sou's lifeless body.

Euh... the Anime Kirasuishou doesn't seem to be a bad girl. The RMT bad girl was Barasuishou.
To my mind there is no need for a 3rd season because none of the Rozen dolls wish for Alice Game (Gin is no more Junk and Rozen said to Shinku that Alice Game is NOT the only way to become Alice).

I think that Rozen from the begining didn't want to see his dolls killing themselves for his sake. That's why he didn't awake Kirasuishou. Without the 7th doll, the Real Alice Game couldn't start.
At the end of Traumed, none of the girls he brought back to life wish to fight anymore and Rozen awake Kira. I don't think that he did it in order to see her crushing the dolls he brought back to life.

Don't forget that Rozen Maiden doesn't follow the Rozen Maiden manga and there is no need for Kira to become the vilain.

Anyway, skimmed through the posts, and one thing I can say:

I really believe that there will be a S3 for RM, mainly because some loose ends haven't been fixed yet from Traumend. Specially when you look at the ending, where you have very few seconds of "explanation after the final battle".

Even in Season 1, we had the drama part, where Shinku asks Jun to brush her hair, and then "disappears". But suddenly, they're back at his house, wrecking stuff again. We see very little in the ending of Traumend.

Also, WHY did they put Kira and Laplace's scenes in there? If you don't have any idea that there REALLY is a 7th doll ( you don't anymore when Bara reveals herself), you'd think "Wtf, Bara's back with an eye-patch on her right eye now?".

And I wouldn't say that the torso area would really be something to do with the power level of each Maiden. Unless they have kryptonite inside their uteruses (!).

My best guesses at the Gin theory are:

Good Rozen theory:
Rozen knew that, with Gin's type of personality, she would feel too self-important if she was finished, being her the first doll he created. Therefore, he didn't complete her because he knew she'd have to overcome her own sadness in order to proceed.

Bad Rozen theory:
He just got lazy.

Ok i know this series finished like a while ago. but i just happened to start watching my archive and i came upon Rozen Maiden.

I powered watched the whole series in 1 day, and upon finishing it, i somehow feel as if I was left hanging...

Anyone care to talk about the ending with me?

Here are a series of questions:
1. Why did Rozen bring back Kanaria, Sinku, Suiseiseki and those other two evil dolls, but not Hina Ichigo and Souseiseki. I mean comon?! wtf?! Is it because Hina Ichigo and Souseiseki were defeated by Rozen Maiden's within the original Rozen's creations?

2. Whats up with that scene with the rabbit and Bara Suishou in the end, where they are flying through all them doors and the rabbit is holding the two Rosa Mystica. I understand they are Hina Ichigo's and Souseiseki's Rosa, but why does he have them? O_O

3. Why was Bara Suishou breaking up in the end? Was it because of deceitful intent?

4. Is the rabbit Rozen himself? Thats the conjecture Jun made near the end. And if so, how come Rozen appeared again as someone else.

5. Why does Sinku have to bear the burden of finding a solution for Souseiseki and Hina Ichigo. Is there going to be a 3rd season for this reason? I am guessing not, but i never know. There were too many things left hanging that would suggest this.

This series was really enjoyable with fancy colors and awesome music, but dang the story is confusing. -_- Anyone care to explain what and WHY things happened? I feeling just as much confused upon finishing EVA, Saikano or Gunslinger Girl. There seems to be a sort of an end, but very very vauge and not making 100% sense as to WHY things happened.

That was a great episode though..; it does have a tremendous amount of emotions in it, and it defines Sou's path very clearly..

I simply loved the part where Sui is trying to convince Sou as not to fight, where she says that all she wants is to remain with her, despite loving father.., if it means to lose her aswell, she'd rather not become Alice.. - hearing this you can realy see that Sou realises that Sui is right but its realy too late for her..; in fact.. she says it herself " its too late.., I can't go back now "...

To me I think what lead Sou to say that was... if we are not true to our choices, we stop beeing who we are..; even if at the end we realise the implications of the choices we made..
Thus she probably even realised she would lose, despite giving all of her heart and devotion in a last burst to show that she was in fact beeing true to her choice.
Its just simply... beautiful...

But trust me... the following episodes are even more.. :)

I'm making this post with blurry vision. At least... I'm happy that Hina "died" peacefully... It was terribly awful, I feel like crap... but at least she didnt get torn apart by Gin, Bara or Kira, I would have died if that happened. I would also have gotten immeasurably pissed at whoever killed her or the staff-writers. At least she went peacefully. Altho right know I want to kill Rozen.

Yes Alu, I loved that part to, it really really embodied Suiseiseki. You can also see at the end, Sou winks out with a smile. I felt at that moment that she was satisfied with her choice of persuing Alice, even tho it meant giving a world of hurt to her twin sister. God I wanna kill Rozen. And Laplace. ESPECIALLY Laplace.

I know something like this was probably written some 40 or so pages before, but I want to share my tots/views on Traumend as a whole, now that I've finished it.

Overall thoughts, a great series; if not better than the first season, I would say its exactly on par with RM1. (for a sequel to live up to its predecessor is a feat IMO). I think I like Traumend better than RM1. Traumend made me cry, and thats a very rare feat, even RM didnt make me cry (hmm.. I think it was because they was nothing to cry about in RM). This season also had wonderful wonderful music, I love the OST, first there was Hikari no Rasenritsu, then megu's song, Shun; I also especially like the song Rozenkristall from the OST because it was played at all the emotional parts in the last few episodes, its a very moving song. All-in-all, I think I like Traumend because together with the funny, ultra-chibi and cute moments that made me laugh out loud, there was also sadness and darkness... In other words, emotionally wise, it moved the whole spectrum of emotions.

With regard to characterisation, I would like to cut and paste Alu's previous post on characterisation here. :heh: Sui, Shinku, Gin and Hina had very very good characterisation from the start, especially the way they changed from season1, they were the essence of Traumend. You can see Hina really did mature from her "death" episode, when she comforted Tomoe. Very touching. Sou was given some focus in the later episodes, when we saw the kind of character she was, in pursuing the Alice Game even tho it cost her and her sister dearly. It wasn't exactly admirable, but who can blame her? Alu got it when she said

SuiseiSeki was mine favourite, and now at the end, shes even more appealing because of the focus she got in the later episodes in how she did not want to use violence, as Shinku put it; did not want to hate, not want to be hated; also how she loved all the dolls so much, especially her sister, and if being Alice meant fighting with them, how she did not want to be Alice. Strong doll, as Sou admitted. (flashback, under the tree)

I think that this series revolved around the issue of the means used to acheive an end, in this case, whether violence should be used to acheive perfection. Jun embraced that issue when he said to Shinku in Ep12: "But... if she can only be born through your fighting, then theres no way something like that is right." I don't know, I felt it was a moral show. :p And in the last episode, when Jun was shouting to Rozen, asking him if this was what he wanted, telling him that each of the dolls loved him for decades and centuries and then asked that poignant question.. "Why won't you love them?"... Wow.. I loved that part.

Animation-wise, the animation was flawless, nice, clean, bright and believable (for some reason I liked whenever they showed the outside of the hospital Meg was in). For those who watched the lower-quality ones... :p

My thoughts on the last episode:

The last fight between Bara and Shinku was very nice!! When they started using the other doll's powers... that was cool. I wish it could have been longer, but its nice the way it was.

As for the previous discussion on Rozen's intention for the dolls and Alice Game, well I don't think the end shed anylight on that. I wish that they gave Rozen more air time; wish they did not keep him so mysterious. At least now we know that Alice can be reached by other means. LapLace too... As for the actual ending, I wouldnt say that there was a real end for Traumend. For one, Kira was revealed at the end. Now... Why would they go thru the trouble of drawing that doll for Animation if they were not going to continue. You don't just introduce a new character and end the series. Further, LapLace still had Sou's and Hina's RosaMysti, no way anyone is letting him go like that. Secondly, like Shinku said, she had to find a solution; whether to becoming Alice without violence, or bring Hina and Sou back I do not know, but that seems pretty much to me like plot material. It seems they were laying a foundation for another season. It was a cliff-hanger ending of-sorts. I'm pretty sure that, if the studio doesnt go bankrupt or get destroyed by an earthquake or something, there will be a Season 3. I am banking heavily on a third season for RM.

For me, seeing Sou and Hina put off on the sofa like that... it felt wrong... very wrong. Maybe I just can't believe that Hina is just one of those normal dolls now. Sob.

Last comment: Enjoyed Traumend thoroughly, will keep it awhile before I rewatch it, and will continue to be a crazed fanboy of Sui. :)

Sorry Lost, can't reply fully to your post now, the right side of my head looks like it's being hit constantly by a hammer.

On another note:

Here are a series of questions:
1. Why did Rozen bring back Kanaria, Sinku, Suiseiseki and those other two evil dolls, but not Hina Ichigo and Souseiseki. I mean comon?! wtf?! Is it because Hina Ichigo and Souseiseki were defeated by Rozen Maiden's within the original Rozen's creations?

2. Whats up with that scene with the rabbit and Bara Suishou in the end, where they are flying through all them doors and the rabbit is holding the two Rosa Mystica. I understand they are Hina Ichigo's and Souseiseki's Rosa, but why does he have them? O_O

3. Why was Bara Suishou breaking up in the end? Was it because of deceitful intent?

4. Is the rabbit Rozen himself? Thats the conjecture Jun made near the end. And if so, how come Rozen appeared again as someone else.

5. Why does Sinku have to bear the burden of finding a solution for Souseiseki and Hina Ichigo. Is there going to be a 3rd season for this reason? I am guessing not, but i never know. There were too many things left hanging that would suggest this.

This series was really enjoyable with fancy colors and awesome music, but dang the story is confusing. -_- Anyone care to explain what and WHY things happened? I feeling just as much confused upon finishing EVA, Saikano or Gunslinger Girl. There seems to be a sort of an end, but very very vauge and not making 100% sense as to WHY things happened.

First off, I think you'd be off reading the most vital parts of the topic, or if you want to skim through, from page 40 and on. AND Re-watching the series more calmly. Rozen Maiden is NOT an anime I'd suggest people to watch in a shot, because you'll lose a lot of stuff doing that. It's not like one of those easy-going animes.

But here's a summary:

1) Two other evil dolls? The only ones he brought back were really Kanaria, Shinku, Suigin Tou and Suisei Seki. Bara Suishou, as far as it's been revelealed up to now, is still "dead". And yes, you're right. The reason why Hina and Sousei Seki weren't revived by Rozen is that they were defeated by legitimate Rozen Maidens (Shinku and Suigin Tou, respectively). Therefore, he can't interfere with the results of the Alice Game.

2) That's not really Bara. That's Kira Kishou, the true 7th doll made by Rozen himself. As for why she's shown flying with Laplace in the end, we still don't know. But that is my best guess as to why a third series will come along.

3) Bara wasn't a Rozen Maiden from the start, therefore she couldn't turn into Alice. Because she absorbed "all" the Roza Misticae, she couldn't sustain them for long, and was destroyed.

4) Well, I wouldn't say that Laplace is really Rozen. He does seem to be pulling the strings from behind the scenes, though.

5) I believe what Rozen told her about Hina and Sousei Seki is the fact that they really DID fight against eachother. We can't tell for sure what his plans are, but I'd guess that, being sisters, they shouldn't fight from the start. We see that this feeling builds on through the series on all of the maidens: Even though they do love "father", they also still love their sisters aswel.

Somebody said something about Sousei Seki being driven at seeing Rozen crying in sadness. But again, I can be 95% sure that it was in truth Enju or an illusion, created to drive Sousei Seki into going agains't the others.
We also see that they talk a little bit about "Groups". Gin + Bara and Shinku and the others. Even Sousei Seki says "I'm not planning on staying in any group, yours or Shinku's.". Therefore, we see that the original plan might have been to break them apart one by one. Don't know for sure.

Certainly Gin and Bara don't seem to be a group, though. Specially with Gin's attack on Bara when she was just going to get the other's Rozas.

I think Sousei Seki was acting selfishly, but in the end, she did sacrifice herself for the others. You see that she protects Suisei Seki right before Gin takes her out (Oh and by the way, thought this didn't sound right. What I meant is that Sousei Seki attacked Gin, and then Gin takes her out.). And afterwards, Gin blocks Bara's attack on the others, and they get out safely.
I'm still supposing, though.

I realy doubt that was Rozen crying..., Rozen never demanded for the Alice Game, much more moan over it because his doll's where not pursuing the goal to become Alice through it.

From the moment he said that there where other ways it was all clear that Rozen never wanted them to fight; altough, altough this is a big assumption of my part.. for I don't realy know what "other ways" are..., despite not having to fight as in the Alice Game.. becoming Alice may also mean the lost of everyone else's Rosa Mystica through some other way.. (I kind of doubt it though) but we never know..
So.., that person crying in the chair to me surely is Enju.., on a atempt to try and manipulate Sou into wanting to take part in the Alice Game.

The group division is also Enju's doing, not Rozen's..., he clearly wants all the Rozen Maiden destroyed so that his doll may come out as superior.., so he first manipulates Gin into taking part with Bara, because Bara is very powerfull.., then he atempts to get Sou into this group.

Reason why he would not atempt Shinku is probably because she would not let herself be fooled.., besides with all she had went through she had no mind to play the Alice Game anymore whatsoever..

Well I think that the most suitable person to answer this is KJ, but I'll try from what I know.

Most of these are really just speech habits, like for example, when people say "like" or "totally". Ex.: "Man, thats like, completely amazingly like that one, like, you know", or "That's totally cool!", things like that. A lot of animes have characters with similar habits. For example, Neneko in Yumeria, always says "Nanoda", similarly, Tomoka in Girls Bravo. So it's basically something just to add to their personal cuteness.

And <3 at those pics of Shinku and Gin fighting over Kun-kun. Seriously, I'd give out half my stuff for the entire collection.

Anything larger than that would have to wait until I buy the R2 DVDs and can do a cleaner image extraction. The image begins to somewhat degrade (and bloat out) above 300 pixel wide. Though I'm rather picky, but maybe most people wouldn't even notice.

The GIF format (89a) wasn’t really designed to handle large sized clips. MNG (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mng) is really the way to go for larger sized animated files (but it isn’t widely supported). Of course, there are people pushing APNG (http://www.boutell.com/innards/index.cgi/2004/08/29#apng) instead.

As far as I can gather it is about some kind of traditional(?) doll festival, which deemed Rozen Maiden appropriate as its... Well. I'm not sure how the Rozen Maiden fit in there apart from being dolls. Maybe some as mascots or something like that? Hm.. now that you said it, it makes sense that their torsoes have something with their power source. I just don't get it why Gin is stronger because she doesn't have one. Or maybe, the lack of her torso is the WHOLE reason why she is the only one that's able to walk on her own without a master. That's why, in Traumend, she needs Megu to make a contract with her in order to keep moving, since her torso was (Speculatedly speaking) fixed by Enju (Or even Rozen himself, but I would really doubt that since Gin had fallen into Bara's hand).

Definetly something to look upon.

Also, congratz to me. (Well, my brother, since it's HIS birthday anyway :P) I'm the proud owner of a pre-ordered release of Kingdom Hearts 2. First game I've actually ever thought of really getting. But I hope it lives up to the scenes I've seen, otherwise I'll get really pissed.

She does have a torso, though an incomplete one. The port where Jun winds up Shinku is around the upper torso area, so there's probably where the power source lie.

And Suigintou's upper torso is intact.

I believe what truly defines a Rozen Maiden is the existence of a Roza Mystica inside her. It doesn't matter if it is Enju or Rozen who fixed her, as she still had the Roza Mystica. And this shows that she is a Rozen Maiden.

I think that Enju is the one who fixed Suigintou (her body, I mean. Her Roza Mystica was not taken in season 1), for the purpose of the faux Alice Game. After all, in the episode where Suigintou returned, Barasuishou did say 'it is all going according to plan'.

And yes, Jun is a maestro.....in sewing.

We still really don't know what being a maestro trully means. It can be an universal thing, or like it's being said here, something for a specific skill. But still, I would guess that Jun could achieve the power of returning a Roza Mistica to it's owner's body, giving him a little training or in an extreme situation.

Still, I wouldn't say that her body got fixed on it's own because of the existence of her Roza Mistica still inside of her. Shinku's arm wasn't repaired just because of that, nor Bara's arm. (I know it's a different context, as Gin was left a couple of days/months there, but still.)

However, you guys DO recall that Gin didn't remember anything before her awakening and her encounter with Shinku. Her entire memory of what she had done in Season 1 was lost, and she only remembered a while after, that she indeed had been destroyed.
I wonder why is that. Does their "artificial" souls have a time-span of activation? Because Gin could remember pretty well the last time she was awake, battling against Shinku. But the rest that we've seen was lost in her memory for a while.

You misunderstood the Roza Mystica part. I'm saying that even if somebody not Rozen fixed Suigintou, she is still a Rozen Maiden, because of her Roza Mystica.

I think that the battle is traumatizing enough for Suigintou to gain a temporary amnesia of it (Though specifically, I believe it is the revealling of the fact to others that she had no belly was probably what traumatized her). But eventually, she did remember the details, didn't she?

as for the end and the anime, Binchou-tan and REC. I would highly recommend REC as it is funny and enjoyable. I would recommend the fansubs from Ayu as they somehow have the Widescreen RAW version of the episodes from Japan.
Binchou-tan is very...eh...in my opinion "boring" but if you like loli, then it is perfect ;)
as almost every character in that is uber cute.

Wellz, just recently i've learned another commonly used Japanese suffix. た[ん] (tan) is a suffix when addressing a cute young little girl. Most girls that hold this title are usually very chibi looking. Two examples are (one) 灼眼のシャナたん (Shakugan no Shanatan). If you've ever seen this special episode, its very cute. Another great example is びんちょうタン (Binchou-tan). If you've seen this as well, you'll know exactly what I am referring to.

thats a good question, but you do realize that the Rosa's are meant for the dolls. and the reason why Bara broke down was cuz she wasn't a doll made from the original Rozen (in a sense her body couldn't contain all the Rosa Mystica's or maybe just Shinku's), i honestly though it was just a big lie to get Gin to act the way she did. I may be wrong, but i personally believe that a Rosa cannot save a human life, from what the series portrays. probably not..but oh well ;) anyone wanna elaborate?
