There was already a pre-existing thread about the couples in Bleach, specifically Ichigo and Rukia. (http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=35032)

Personally I’d like to see Ichigo and Orihime, for reasons unknown. I know it wouldn’t work, but I’d love to see it happen. Admittedly Rukia would seem more suited, as they both have a certain pride and seriousness… Ichigo is slightly immature, so Rukia hones that, whereas Orihime will only hinder it.

Yeah I'm not exactly sure why but I would like to see Ichigo and Orihime together. But maybe Rukia is more fitting for him...but we all know that Ichigo cares the most about his sisters so maybe he has a sister complex omfg :P

Its not uncommon for mangas that childhood friends get together.

However, I don't really care as long as it's believable... but Ichigo doesn't seem to be interessted in girls, which is understandable considering the things he has to deal with everyday.

I'm surprised... Ishida-Nemu supporters are pretty rare, considering how little Nemu appears in Bleach, not that I'm not they're biggest English-speaking 'shipper, even going so far as to write a lengthy fic for the two. But surely, Nemu is the most attractive female in Bleach, and Ishida is an excellent match for her.

Hinamori + Hitsugaya is undoubtedly the most popular of all the canon-pairings, even more so than Ichigo-Rukia, judging by the number of websites and fanfics devoted to them in all available languages.

What about Chadd? seems like he doesnt like any girls, and it seems like not many girls are around him, except orihime. maybe chadd will end up with orihime, who knows? :rolleyes:

its kinda obvious that ichigo will end up with rukia. but i also think that it would look better if ichigo ended up with orihime. they look so good together.

I must second Ichigo and Orihime as well. Like many others, I'm not exactly sure why I want to see that happen. Maybe it's that it would be pretty neat to see Orihime's feelings reciprocated.

I believe that Ichigo will end up with Rukia. I mean he did go save her for more than just paying her back for saving his family and him. You can tell that through this whole series that they were getting close.

The most cutest pairing has to be HitsugayaxHinamori, if anyone read the drama cds for Bleach with Hitsugaya, the lengths he'll go for her really. As is with IchigoxRukia and it's no secret I am a fan of this pairing. :p

Lets see...one other pairing that really strikes my fancy:

ShunsuixNanao and the fact that Shunsui's theme song from the manga is the tango...'nuff said. :D

Someone before mentioned that it seemed as if a large number of people--more than the pairing merits--are into Ishida-Nemu. Perhaps, but...

1. If one considers it, Ishida hates Shinigamis in general, and for good reason, but Nemu stands out as someone he obviously harbors no ill-will towards. She's not a real-Shinigami per say either, which helps along with the fact that she seems like the type of gal Ishida would get along with; composed and elegant.

2. Some Ishida-Nemu fan-ficers have played with the idea that Nemu got to know Ishida's grandfather/sensei while he was in captivity/being experimented on by Mayuri... I may integrate that as part of my fic for the two yet.

3. The two just "fit." C'mon, they look good together; Two handsome and mature individuals, more so than... Ichigo-Orihime for example (one grouchy one happy).

Edit: The disclaimer that I've been putting all over the place: My signature is NOT REFERING to the Nemu from Bleach, but to another character by the same name from D.C. Nemu fans need not freak out; we're actually all healthy, outgoing individuals and will not grow up to look like this weird ojisan.

I wouldn't be surprised! They certainly got some very long history together!

I say Ishida and Orihime. I mean he acts so embarassed around her, I think they'd be cute together. I've never even thought about Nemu and Ishida before. I suppose it's a possibility, but there is already enough human/shinigami pairings and related problems with Ichigo and Rukia, there probably won't be any more pairs.

Another couple for you: Nanao and Shunsui. Those two are funny!

every scene with shunsui and naonao-chan are just hilarious. i hope to see more of their scenes in the next episodes.
i also think chad and ichigo's sister don't go well at all.. imagine a 16 year old guy and a 9 year old girl making out. thats just not right. :eyebrow:

I just can't see the Rukia/Ichigo relationship going too far. It doesn't seem like it would do well, considering the reasons Rukia might be attracted to Ichigo, and I just can't interpret Ichigo's reckless rescue venture as a confession of his undying love for her, no matter how hard I try; he's just the type of guy to go get himself killed for a friend, not to mention a friend to whom he feels deeply indebted. So, I think this pairing is one-sided, Rukia loving Ichigo because he reminds her so much of Kaien, and for reasons that I cannot spoil for non-manga readers.

Tatsuki seems more feasible, but that's a bit one-sided as well. They would most certainly make a decent couple, and I think this is the best choice for Ichigo, but Tatsuki would never come out and say anything. Maybe sometime down the line, things might be different, but as it stands, I don't see the manga planning ahead that long.

Therefore, the only choice left to Ichigo is Orihime. That's where we get all the tension and awkward moments, but I don't agree with the pairing, despite the fact that I know it's going to happen (see: "If I were the rain, that connects the heavens and the earth that would otherwise never mingle..."). I think Orihime and Ishida are a more suitable pair, but as it stands, Orihime is stuck on Ichigo, and I can't help feeling that Ichigo has some kind of *cough*plot-induced*cough* interest in Orihime.

But, as I said, I'm rooting for Ishida/Orihime. There just seems to be a natural "flow" (I didn't want to say chemistry, since it's not that... yet) between them, one that could eventually escalate into something more in time.

I just couldn't get into the Nemu hype. I don't find her attractive, and I fail to see how so many people could attribute qualities to her that she has yet to exhibit. I pity her, but she interests me very little in terms of attraction or a possible pairing. So, I read very little into the interaction between her and Ishida.

Hinamori/Hitsugaya is just... gold. Seeing what lengths he goes to for her, and that ending animation (back when Hoshiboshi was the ED song) with him protecting her, I just can't help hoping that this relationship comes into fruition. *fast forwards to when Hinamori finally gets over Aizen* Possible spoiler? Maybe. Maybe not.

Yoruichi and Urahara... I don't expect to see this pairing in the future, but not because I doubt it'd work; on the contrary, I suspect they had a relationship in the PAST, but alas, times change, people change, and so on and so forth.

Chad's just a bad motha--shut yo' mouth!--I'm just talkin' 'bout Chad! There are still plenty of girls in that classroom for Chad to choose from, and, as his abuelo told him, he's strong and beautiful; well, that's what his grandfather told him, anyway.

There's a guy that Rangiku seems interested in (won't give names due to spoilers), but, considering that [insert spoiler here] happened, I wonder if her eyes won't go in a different direction... as to who could fill that void, I've no idea.

I find it difficult to fathom any kind of romantic relationship involving Ichigo, and while I do like filling myself with a good dose of Ichigo/Rukia fandom from time to time, I can't actually picture anything happening. Ichigo seems so completely uninterested in girls and I would roll over and die if the words "I love you" or anything of the sort were ever to come out of his mouth, romantic relationships seem very 'unIchigoesque,' it would be out of character IMO, I would probably be happiest if Ichigo just doesn't end up with anyone romantically in the end unless some new developments change the situation and circumstances....

I see Renji's feelings for Rukia as very passive, it's that whole 'dog chasing the stars' or whatever thing, so I really just feel sorry for him but don't really like him with Rukia as much as I enjoy the idea of him chasing after her ^^

I really like Hitsugaya but Hinamori bugs me so I'm not really too fond of that pairing... I think the only pairing that I do like is Ishida and Orihime but Orihime is so dedicated to Ichigo it's hard to imagine anything else happening. Ooh, everything is so bitter and unrequited :3

Preppy guys (Ichigo) usually end up with the dizzy happy types (Inoue), and nerdy guys (Ishida) usually end up with more reserved (Nemu), or even nerdy females (Nanao :D ).

Shunsui is is gay. I mean it (and thats what makes the Nanao/Shunsui interaction so funny because, well, she knows).

I've been wondering for a while why i like Bleach even though it's a mindless fighting manga/anime at heart and the only valid reason I can come up with are the homosexual undertones that runs through the whole thing ;)

So here's my pairings :

Shunsui x Ukitake :)

The baldy in 11th squad x that prettyboy in 11th squad. One might guess these guys are already a couple. Ha!

Ichigo x Renji or Ichigo x Chad. Nah, even though Ichigos lack of romantic interests has been mentioned by others I don't think he's gay. He might swing both ways though :p

I used to be a IchiRuki shipper but while I can still see glimmers of its possibilities and I'm still very respectful of their relationship, I am doubtful that anything romantic will ever happen for a number of reasons.

When it comes to Rukia, I surrender to the pull of Renji/Rukia. Partially because I really like both characters and their interaction, but mostly because I think Kubo sees Rukia and Renji together and I accept that. There isn't a lot of guessing with them. They have a past together and they have a past that is separate but at the end of it all, there is the two of them accepting their pasts and moving to a future together.

So Renji/Rukia are my top Bleach OTP.

However.... I'm Rukia X Byakua FAN :D

That has just enough canon support that it could make things very interesting. Ichigo and Renji may have helped save Rukia but it is Byakuya who protects her at the end. It is also interesting to note that he refers to her as "Hisana's sister", never his sister so I am left to wonder how he really sees this girl who looks so much like his wife... ;)

Of the other couples:

Ishida/Orihime - Orihime has a thing for Ichigo but her eye does wander and the only time Orihime gets fierce to the point of violence is when she is taken away, on Ishida's orders, from the Ishida/Mayuri fight. And while Ishida may entertain a thought or two about Nemu, it is Orihime who he protects to the end even without his Quincy powers and he doesn't tell everyone about it either unlike a certain loud mouthed orange-haired boy. She understands him and he understands her and dammit, he appreciated her every moment he spent with her when they were in SS. Ichigo may end up with Orihime, but if I had my way and if there was any justice, Ishida would get her. She needs to be appreciated and he needs her crazy sense of sunshine.

Urahara/Yoruichi - Aren't they already canon?

Byakuya/Kuukaku - Total crack, but I like the idea anyway.

Ichigo/Tatsuki - I liked this idea for awhile but it wasn't until ch 183 that I started to think that maybe there really is a possibility. Tatsuki cares for Ichigo. That's a given. Ichigo, on the otherhand... gads, who knows with him. But it is telling that he treats Tatsuki differently than any other girl, including Rukia. He freaks out when he sees her hurt with a broken arm and he depends on her enough to make the remark of "I'm sorry to always bother you" and mostly, he seemed truly genuine when he greets her in class in ch 183. There is something between them. Maybe it could be romantic, maybe it is just a good friendship, but still, something's there and it is brewing.

Shuuhei/Yumichika - The love whose name that everyone will know because Yumichika will tell everyone. Much to the distress of Shuuhei.

Shunsui/Nanao - Another 'aren't they already canon?' couple.

Ukitake/Kaien - Never mind the whole Lady Shiba thing. The real relationship was Ukitake and Kaien. I mean, c'mon. There has to be a reason why he hasn't replaced his vice captain. (Honestly, I'm kidding here. I just wanted to put Ukitake on the list because he's gorgeous and I like Shunsui with Nanao so Kaien was the only other person I could think of to put Ukitake with. Although I could have chosen Unohana...or maybe Isane... or nah, I'll still with Kaien.)

And my out on a limb pairing... Hitsugaya/Matsumoto - Hitsugaya feels protective of Hinamori and Rangiku has conflicted feelings about ***, but the 10th's captain and vice-captain don't seem very conflicted about each other. He needs to grow about a foot or so and she needs to stay preserved to wait for him to grow, but once it happens... *yikes* that could be a beautiful thing. Every good genius boy deserves a bombshell and Rangiku ranks pretty high on the ultimate bombshell list.

in this world there is no justise (maybe timberlake) for boys like Ishida that respect other guy's feeling when it comes to girl he likes...
If you want to take the girl you can't try to be friends with her boyfriend (if you try to steal girl from your friend then you're scum) :D

Ichigo's not a prep. Where'd you get that from? He gets in fights, talks back to teachers, ect. Besides, what's wrong with diversity? Can you name a real 'prep'who ends up with a 'ditz'?

The real Anime Statistics:

Cold, detatched guy (Ishida)+ happy girl who warms his heart (Inoue)

Determined hero w/ attitude (Ichigo)+ equally determined girl who fights with him (Rukia)

See? I could easily say it could be just like that but I don't. It's still complex. There are plenty of other factors besides the 'roles' the characters play.

Girls who don't show much emotion or initiative act as a blank canvas upon which the viewer can project any personality or drives that he imagines to be desirable. They are dream girls in the sense that they reflect the viewers' dreams. Fanboys flock to these doll-like girls in droves. You don't have to understand it, but now you know why it should be expected.

Girls who don't show much emotion or initiative act as a blank canvas upon which the viewer can project any personality or drives that he imagines to be desirable. They are dream girls in the sense that they reflect the viewers' dreams. Fanboys flock to these doll-like girls in droves. You don't have to understand it, but now you know why it should be expected.
WEll I don't understand how Nemu gets paired up with everyone XD. IshidaxNemu fans seem to go with the interaction post Mayuri fight and during the fight. Plus knowing Kubo's style it's still a possibility because with Kubo you have to pay attention to everything. Dialogue, the events, and body language. Personally I could go any way with some of these pairings.

Ichigo x Tatsuki- I'm kind of set on these two considering how they've been drawn up together. Their interactions like in chapter 183, the fact that during the early chapters on the cover pictures Tatsuki and Ichigo wore a three star pin a few times and it was the eact same one, their interactions in the pre-Soul Society arc, and the fact that Tatsuki is so deeply involved with his past.

Besides people say RukiaxIchigo is the thing but you have to consider it may be the thing in America or international, but if it aint flying in Japan it won't go that way. Which leads me to...

Renji x Rukia- the destined duo in my opinion. Renji honestly loves Rukia and we see through their past that Rukia, while less obvious, does have a thing for Renji. Just looking around online going through the Jp sites will lead to dozens and dozens and dozens of Renji x Rukia fan works. Plus reading through the manga, subtle hints and obvious ones, Renji x Rukia seem pretty much cannon.

Urahara x Yoruichi- like someone pointed out... they're pretty much cannon.

Hitsugaya X Matsumoto- Through Omake chapters and the SS arc in the manga, there is enough evidence to make them quite the possibility. Besides earlier someone said that Hitsugaya lets Hinamori treat him like an equal? Hate to say it but no, Hinamori really doesn't show Hitsugaya with any respect. She treats him like the little kid back in Rukongai even though he's her superior, and Hitsugaya does get annoyed by Hinamori's lack of respect. Matsumoto, while on a lesser degree, also gets annoyed that her Captain gets that little respect. It's Rangiku and hitsugaya that truly treat each other like equals and are an example of what a real Captain/Vice Captain should be. Plus... He does a majority of her work and lets her sleep out on the couch all day, and she wakes up one time asking what Hitsugaya was doing in her room. He responded it was the office. Just shows how comfortable they are around each other.

Shunsui x Nanao-they seem cannon.

Ishida x Inoue or Ishida x Nemu- either way I'm fine. Ishida still rocks ^^

Kon x Nemu- hehe my odd one. Both were manufactured by Mayuri, but until they interact, if ever, we'll never know.

BUT let's look at real life here.

Preppy guys (Ichigo) usually end up with the dizzy happy types (Inoue), and nerdy guys (Ishida) usually end up with more reserved (Nemu), or even nerdy females (Nanao :D ).

I can't agree with you here. Firstly, I don't think preppy can really describe Ichigo. He fights, he kicks ass, but he most certainly doesn't smash empty beer cans on his head, go panty-raiding, or even have a REMOTE desire to join an organized sports team; in short, no stereotypical jock = no preppy = real life is not a determinant of the future of these two.

Ichigo is a cynical guy with a soft heart. Furthermore, he's not as shallow as his two friends (the ones whose names I can't remember that hang out with him and Chad), so he's not like "Oh, hell yes! Boobs and easiness!" like they would be (if he were more like KON, then I'd see what you were saying, but he's not).

And yes, Orihime is a ditz, and a really energetic, happy, good-natured one at that. Not like all those cheerleader sluts who are concerned with the next fashion trend and finding ways to bend the laws of space to become thinner than nothingness (note: refers to cheerleaders who fit this stereotype, so any cheerleader not like this has my apologies in advance). Despite her disposition, she's quite innocent and concerned about others around her. She's not overly cheery (like those people from suburbia who seem to have plastered smiles on their faces), but she's definitely sweet enough to give you cavities. She has a keen awareness and perception best described as a sixth sense that allows her to have a sharp insight into many things one would think she'd be too dense to notice, and sometimes goes beyond that to see things most people don't; in short, she's quite in tune even when you don't think she is.

Ichigo's attitude towards her has been filled with grunts and stuff, not Kon antics that aim to have him diving into the "Valley of the Gods" (LOVED that profile on Rangiku, lol). Of course, he considers her a friend, but he doesn't seem interested in pursuing her, though she seems plenty interested in him, but only recently; at best, if they DO get together, I'd say it was because of an ACCIDENT, and not because you'd expect a jaded person and a ditz to get together, which would have been for different reasons entirely. Ichigo's the type of guy who can appreciate someone like Orihime, but not exactly the type to ever end up in a relationship with her.

So far, Orihime seems to feel for Ichigo because of that incident with her dead brother, coupled with the recent knowledge of the death of Ichigo's mother, and the fact that she's being forced more and more into these supernatural phenomena that tend to place Ichigo at the center. What force will make Ichigo reciprocate her feelings is as of yet unknown, but I guarantee it won't be as well-thought out, though it will certainly be VERY contrived. At least in real life, the category of people you described get together because they're shallow and that's the thing to do.

But, as far as Ishida and Orihime go, they seem to be the oddballs. Ishida takes more notice of Orihime than he should if there were nothing (and I don't mean Kon/Ichigo's friends type of "notice," either). Not even Ichigo will look out for her as much as Ishida has, and I doubt it's just the "Pride of the Quincy" that makes him do it. Furthermore, Orihime is one of the few people who can really appreciate Ishida, quirks and all, and this is vice versa as well, since Ishida is definitely not shallow, either. So, more often than not, these two are on that same weird "wavelength" that no other two characters will ever occupy at the same time. They're a classic case of two people who have many things in common. Ishida's a big softy with a strong sense of chivalry; Orihime's that warm thing he's been missing in his life. She tends to relax him, since he is quite possibly far more uptight than Ichigo ever will be, and Rukia helps Ichigo with that problem (I mean she's his source of stress relief, despite the additional stress her presence brings into his life; I do NOT mean that Ichigo will fall for her like Ishida to Orihime, since Ichigo, though jaded, is filled with many warm things in his life). Orihime lowers Ishida's highly guarded defensive wall, and he feels as a result most at ease when around her.

Now, back to the bleach boy. Ichigo and Tatsuki are that rare example of childhood friends who would probably end up in an awkward situation in one or the other's bedroom, only, you know... without all the anime fakeness that tends to make it unrealistic. Tatsuki's down-to-earth and can be quite attractive at times. Before Rukia came along, she was most likely the one he confided in, and it seems they really spent a good amount of time together (not as much as her and Orihime, but I'd say they know each other quite well). Weird things go on in class, and they exchange remarks with each other. They go to the movies... FOR THE MOVIE. No holding hands, looking at each other, or anything. Then they casually talk about how much it amazed them (or sucked) and laugh. Arcades, fast food joints, the beach, the pool... the works. Neither one of them realizing how nice the other looks without clothes on.

Then one day, they're in one or the other's room, talking, joking, embarrassing each other, Tatsuki hitting Ichigo upside the head too hard because he said something stupid, Ichigo playfully (or not... Tatsuki's a f***ing black belt) and uncharacteristically counterattacking, and Ichigo falls on top of her... then all of a sudden, that border between childhood friends and possible relationship interests is broken, they suddenly become painfully aware of the other's breathing and how firmly their bodies are pressed against each other, their heartbeats (I know it sounds like a sappy romance, but hey, what else are you going to notice), the sheer tension in the moment that had never been their before, and... the sudden realization that in this situation with anyone else remotely like the person they're looking at, they might have gone through with it (in other words... Ichigo's Thoughts: "You know, I think I'd hit that--wait. WTF did I just say?"; Tatsuki's Thoughts: Why do I think that if he did anything, I wouldn't mind?"). What's more, Ichigo's got a full view of the figure he never looked at twice when she was in a bathing suit, and Tatsuki realizes that those years of fighting countless thugs has been quite kind to Ichigo. They're blushing, and no one knows where to go from there. Now, one of two major things will happen: they'll either kiss (maybe something more) or they won't. If they don't, it's because someone chickened out or because some noise made them aware that they could get caught, but at this point, they're AWARE of the other person in a way they weren't before. And for the right people, that's all it takes.

And now... a better synopsis of Nemu. If you mean that a nerd will build his own sex robot and... have sex with it, then you are correct, sir! Have a cookie! ;) Because that's what Nemu is: a robot. Sure, she's not a mechanical one, but if Mayuri doesn't say or hint at anything, she will continue to stand there, more often than not. She has her own mind, but as her creator has suggested, she was built for his own uses. So her free will is probably devoted to her "Mayuri-sama". Even in the moment that she realizes "WTF? This weird-looking dude tried to kill the weird-looking dude I'd throw away my life for!" and even after Ishida SAYS "I didn't intentionally spare him" more or less, the only thing on her mind is "Yay! He's still alive so I can get beaten and 'incested' to death. I'm happy. Here's a consolation prize [antidote]." Ishida's "Pride of the Quincy" doesn't allow him to condone anything that happened to Nemu during that fight, but it feels different from how he'd deal with a Orihime situation. It really is just a mix of chivalry and pity. On one hand, her ally is beating the shit out of her and kicking her when she's down; on the other, she's a woman, and Ishida being the guy he is, that's just not right in any book. If they DID get together (which they won't), here are a few reasons why things wouldn't work:

1) She'd probably call out "Mayuri-sama" in bed.
2) There's also the fact that her "Mayuri-sama" DESECRATED Ishida's grandfather's soul. As long as Mayuri is alive, Ishida wants him dead... and we all know that Nemu's "programming" is such that she. Won't. Like. That. She'll even fight to the death to protect her creator, if need be, and if Ishida kills Mayuri, well, that's a conflict of interests right there, isn't it?
3) As long as Mayuri's alive, there's NO WAY Nemu will leave him for the person he wants to "research". She'll even help him get his "specimen." So, even if she feels some type of way for him, he'll always be second to "Mayuri-sama."

And no amount of Ishida's (HIGHLY) unlikely "beating his meat" over her will change that.

Now, keep all this in mind while I say it. I don't dislike Nemu. I DO find her to be a worthwhile human being. I DO think she has emotional range... just none for anyone else but Mayuri or someone doing something that BENEFITS Mayuri. So many people call her reserved; I say any robot can stand without any emotional expression, but it doesn't make them reserved--quite frankly, it makes them socially defective. That's not my ideal of a lover, and I doubt it's Ishida's. And because she moves... thinks... BEHAVES like a robot, I just don't see the appeal in her. Sorry. *shrugs

Edit: Of course, Nanao, who was at the obscure end of your post, might be a different story for Ishida, if they ever met and if she ever stopped feeling her obvious feelings for her captain.

hats off! That was a great post and I agreed with everything about why Nemu and Ishida could not be a couple. The whole desecration of Ishida's grandfather thing being an insurmountable hurdle... although weirder things have happened in anime.

Orihime and Ishida seem inevitable at this point--it's the classic detached guy/warm girl scenario. He saves her life in all sorts of heroic ways; she rescues him from his loneliness.

The section on Ichigo/Tatsuki is exactly how I see them "crossing the line". I think Tatsuki does have feelings for Ichigo but because of Orihime and her own belief that Ichigo would never see her as anything but a friend, she's never going to act on her feelings.

But the Ishida/Orihime and Ishida/Nemu sections are the most persuasive, especially about Ishida has paid more attention to Orihime than Ichigo. I don't know if they are inevitable, but I do know that Orihime figures in with any decision Ishida seems to make.

Post SS arc from chapter 181 on there really isn't any hints of that. Ichigo is thinking more of the Vaizards and the hollow inside of him then anyone. You can argue chapter but if you look into Ichigo's personality he was ticked, not because Hirako hugged Orihime, but because the guy was still there and still trying to bring Ichigo over to their side.

i think Rukia/ Ichigo will be together, since Orhime asked her about Ichigo and her relationship... in that time, Rukia didn't say anything at the moment, then she said they r friends. Also, Renji obviously shows his jealousy toward Ichigo. On the other hand, I think Rukia treats Renji as her friend, may be she has a feeling toward him when she told him about her adoption... but what Orhime said is true, Rukia has changed Ichigo... Rukia is his most important person, and Ichigo also changed Rukia to express her human emotion. However, i dunno y Rukia wants to stay in the soul society, but when she said she wants to stay in...Ichigo suddenly didn't say anything and then said he respect her decision. So i think Ichigo has feeling toward Rukia at this point. So sad...

IchigoxRukia is what almost everyone are thinking about, I think it will be boring and quite predictible, hence, I doubt it would be this way. The whole Soul Sociaty arc is because Ichigo feels he is the one to blame and he is also the one who needs to fix the situation Rukia is in. Not only that, but we've seen from Chad's flashbacks that Ichigo is a good person who helps even to those he does not know. You people claim that Ichigo went to Soul Sociaty and is willing to sacrifice his life for her just because he had grown to love her, but I claim it is because he considers her as a friend and when it comes to friends in danger he always will react, no mater what. Being depted to Rukia (because she saved his family by giving him her powers) only adds more responsibility on his side to save her. There is no love here, Ichigo is well aware he is her only chance she has got to survive.

IchigoxOrihime will be boring as well. Orihime is the silent type of girl and besides a few good laughs, IchigoxOrihime will be boring, more than Ichigo and Rukia.

Yourichi... is something else.. It will bring some 'life' to the relationship, we won't be bored and the whole relationship will probably be amusing.

Shyness is completely independent from beeing interessted in a specific girl... it's absolutely normal to blush in situations like the ones he is in.
But the fact remains, that he doesn't act like he is interessted in any of the girls around him, and that's why a relationship at this point would be unplausible (IMHO).

It's not that I don't want any relationships in the series, but they have to be comprehensible; you have to see that both persons are interessted in each other, which isn't the case for Ichigo.

Hitsugaya x Matsumoto: Hard to explain why. Give me a few hours and I'll try to pinpoint exact reasons why I like it then go back and point out some canon support.

Urahara x Yoruichi: Okay, this one is definitly canon.

So and and so forth but I'm a little down about one.

Ichigo x Tatsuki: I honestly think it'll work. There's been minor canon support and I do like the chemistry. It's fun to read them when they're bickering and they have quite the interesting past considering Tatsuki is the one "supposedly" linked to Ichigo's Memories in the Rain, the one that cried for him, the one that wants to see that same smile he had when he was a kid. They've been together since they were four but I honestly think it won't happen. Another one of my favorite anime pairings falls to crack.

For what I think'll happen.

Ichigo x Orihime: One reason, Kubo is pretty transparent with his pairings. Nanao x Shunsui, Urahara x Yoruichi, Rukia x Renji. He's been weighing way to heavily in their favor and unless Kubo is doing it to throw us off, which would surprise me, it'll be Ichi x 'hime. The only way I think it won't happen is if something happens to Tatsuki.

She's the one he never vowed to protect, the one he hasn't been watching, and the one that could throw off Ichigo feelings if, and only if, he does harbor any remaining feelings.

We found out even during middle school Ichigo would bring Tatsuki up. It's pretty obvious that it was Tatsuki that shared the blunt end of Ichigo's pain but never said anything. He used to call her Tatsuki-chan, as does his family. Also she's the only one Ichigo ever treated differently from the other women in his life, pointing back to chapter 183. That's a bitter sweet chapter because it was a good chapter and Tatsuki was back but it was nothing but a teaser. Right now it also looks like GrimmJow is going after her.

I'm wrong, I just know it too. Whatever though Bleach isn't about the pairings anyways. As long as the story stays good. Though, Tatsuki better get her story I'm sick of being teased.

Shunsui is is gay. I mean it (and thats what makes the Nanao/Shunsui interaction so funny because, well, she knows).

I've been wondering for a while why i like Bleach even though it's a mindless fighting manga/anime at heart and the only valid reason I can come up with are the homosexual undertones that runs through the whole thing ;)

No idea, I don't read the Manga, but in the Anime he at least asks once. Furthermore, by episode 54, Zaraki's blade seems fine, but in episode 40, it was definitely split into two pieces. The only way Ichigo has been able to repair a broken blade is by having a heart-to-heart with Zangetsu. Now, true, Zabimaru managed to fix himself on his own, but that was apparently out of bloodlust for Zangetsu. Zabimaru is a little disappointed when Renji tells him Zangetsu is no longer the enemy. I don't see Zaraki's blade being that proactive for Zaraki.

I'm pretty sure this has been all discussed to death in some thread I haven't bothered reading.

Back on topic: I really like the Ichigo-Zaraki dynamic, even if couple isn't the right word for it. What would you call that? Rivals doesn't seem to cut it, either.

The real Anime Statistics:

Cold, detatched guy (Ishida)+ happy girl who warms his heart (Inoue)

Determined hero w/ attitude (Ichigo)+ equally determined girl who fights with him (Rukia)

See? I could easily say it could be just like that but I don't. It's still complex. There are plenty of other factors besides the 'roles' the characters play.

It's hard because Bleach is one of the few manga where i like all of the characters.

IchigoxRukia is going to happen, I know it. It's beyond standard anime formula. Their relationship is the deepest in the story in my opinion. Like Inoue said Rukia changed Ichigo's life.

IshidaxInoue will also probably happen, and I like this pairing. That rigid-ass guy needs who's kind of an oddball to keep him off balance.

Even now in the manga, they don't appear closer than really great friends who trust each other with their lives. Although I do see this as possible, it would just seem awkward after all the setup that they're just great friends. They haven't shown a hint of actually deep affection, while on the other hand, Orihime is clearly in love with Ichigo, and his reaction to her confession that she was really worried about him after the fight with Byakuya sparked the first true, deep "Thank you" that Ichigo has ever said in the series.

I agree with you about Matsumoto and Ichimaru. They are a lot more mature than the high school kids and therefore more interesting imo (even though I like Rukia/Renji a lot). Ichimaru shows himself of another side whenever she comes into the picture and he is one of the characters that intrigue me the most. Matsumoto is cool as well and I like how there's not that much known about her so far (I haven't read the manga).

Well, as you can see is this series is pretty long, so what do you expect? As for most anime's I have seen, the actual romance all happen during the last 2-3 episodes, this show is going to be long. That was all I was saying, mostly you see starting off as really good friends, and they take their relationships farther. The manga I don't know off, cause I dont really tend to read manga's. The way I would say it is, "let the time pass by and we will see what happens."

Also that Ichigo did tell Ganju that he does not love her, but that was a while back. Unless I have some memery problem,and that happened during the filler episodes from 64-67, which I did not watch. Anyone can say that he does not lovesomeone straightforward, it's a friggin cartoon. Characters are forced to do this, they aint making the decision.

I believe remembering way back around episode 16 or something, when Rukia was getting ready to leave the city, while she was running and crying, she was said something to herself in her head about liking Ichigo.

There are so many hints that she loves him. x_x I'd rewatch if I were you. And he's the one she thinks about the most. Even Orihime acknowledged the bond between them. There's also the Ichigo and Kaien connection and she plainly loved Kaien "like that".I just rewatched it. We're not at love yet, but we are getting there. I'm not saying one will definitely happen over the other, I'm just saying which I prefer and supporting that idea. :D

That's fine but I think IchigoxOrihime is completely one-sided. =/ In the anime anyway.You didn't see the kind, gentle look in Ichigo's face as he said, for the first time in the whole series, "Arigatou", to Orihime after Ichigo's fight with Byakuya. That was the first time he'd ever used the proper, polite form of saying "Thank you" in the whole series. He never, and still hasn't, even said it to Rukia, and especially not with the kind of face he had when he was talking with Orihime. :D Just from that scene alone, it doesn't look that one-sided to me. :love:

That's just something, that Orihime did herself, since you can obviously see that she has a crush on her. Ichigo shares more of his feelings with Rukia I believe, such as his mother for example.

Plus Rukia and Ichigo have gone through so much more, not only that, Ichigo went through some rough training just to change the shape of his zanpakto or something, and also turned almost into a hollow. He pretty much did all that just to get to soul society, and be strong enough to fight of the enemies, and also save Rukia. After all he did keep having that same old flashback of her saying that "If you follow me to soul society I will never forgive you" *expressed with lots of emotion*

He himself was depressed without Rukia. When Orihime got kidnapped in the fillers, man were they joking around so much.

Browsing through this thread, I have come to two conclusions:

1. This Rukia/Ichigo/Orihime triangle debate is ruthless XD
2. When people are bias to a certain pairing, they will interpret actions of those characters as "proof" that the pairing is canon and disregard actions that support alternative pairings as irrelevant.

That said, here's my beef:

My favorite favorite favorite pairings are Ichigo/Rukia and Gin/Rangiku.

Few people seem to care about Gin/Rangiku, which surprises me because I think it's pretty cool. And sad. They definitely have some sort of depressing bittersweet backstory going on between them, and will likely have a depressing bittersweet end/conclusion. Since nobody really cares about this pairing but me, I'll just move on. *sniff sniff*

Then there's Ichigo/Rukia, which I suppose belongs here because the Ichigo pairings always call forth the debate whores. :heh: So yes, I love Ichigo/Rukia and yes, I think it's canon. The entire show pretty much exists because Ichigo and Rukia met, and the entire first episode is devoted to their meeting. Then the entire Soul Society arc exists because of Rukia and Ichigo's determination to save her, and now the current manga arc is sort of reversed, all about Ichigo's angst and desire and I'm sure that Rukia will come into play like she always does.

I won't be a noob and claim that Ichigo loves her or visa versa, but they have a strong connection that I tend to think of as more than friends but less than something romantic. Yes, Ichigo is also close to Chado and Ishida, but his connection with Rukia is something different than his connections with those two. They support each other, they look out for each other, they depend on each other, they trust each other, they stick their necks out for each other. Even in the pre-Soul Society miniarc I found it extremely generous of Ichigo to share his room with her. Again, I'm not saying that any of this is out of "love" because the connotations for that are different, but it's a different sort of "caring" than, say, Ichigo letting Chado stay at his house for a few weeks.

That, and Ichigo and Rukia have this wicked chemistry I haven't seen him have with any other female character. He's open and completely comfortable with her, and it's been proven that she's the only one who could end his self-pity and get his rear in gear (even Orihime acknowledged this). Again, not something out of "love", but a connection stronger and different than one Ichigo's had with other girls. (I'm emphasizing this so much because I HATE it when people put words in my mouth. ^_^) Their interaction has many layers; they're friends, co-workers, partners, and supporting guidance. Their connection is one of the most complicated in the entire series.

So, I suppose you want to hear why I'm not Ichigo/Orihime, huh? First, let me say that I don't hate Orihime--actually, I've come to like her for who she is. She's a kind hearted, gentle, soft spoken character who provides a nice contrast to the brash ones like Ikkaku (bless you, Ikkaku ^_^) I think she's one of those overlooked characters just because she's not built for combat, kind of like Hanatarou, who never fought but played a hell of a huge role leading Ichigo through the labyrinth of Soul Society. I like Orihime, just not with Ichigo.

I've yet to really see anything that solidifies Ichigo/Orihime as something other than one-sided. Yes, Orihime cares for him and even says that she "loves" him. She has a crush on him. She admires him. But Ichigo doesn't reciprocate this. I haven't really seen them seriously connect on any level--actually, he seems rather formal with her, calling her by last name and acting polite. He doesn't really joke with her or tease her. I think Orihime's crush on Ichigo is going to be her motivation, like her admiration for him will propel her to become stronger/more useful/more important, but ultimately I see her getting together with Ishida, a nice pairing that I've come to like a lot.

So...Ichigo/Rukia for me!

He likes to frown, but deep inside he's very kind-hearted. Orihime crushes such guy.

He protects the people he like very much fiercely. ('Hurt her and I will kill you')

While he protects the person he love/like, he gives the free liberty for them to act freely without stopping them.

He has a great deal of self-confidence over himself (which Ichigo does not at the moment)....so Orihime wouldn't fret herself over him.

Orihime is the kind of girl that respects a lot. She wouldn't poke Hitsugaya down, by calling him shorty or the name he doesn't like. And I don't think Hitsugaya, once he know Orihime very well, would want to refuse to eat Orihime's weird food, scold her for being ditzy / wild. Nope, I have a feeling that Hitsugaya would swallow himself first than to hurt Orihime intentionally.

Orihime calls Hitsugaya Toshirou as Toshirou-kun. That means she finds herself much more comfortable being with Toshirou than with Ichigo.

Hitsugaya is the child prodigy. Even if Orihime is unable to use zanpakutou, Hitsugaya would be able to train her in the ways of demon arts. That would make them much more closer.

Hitsugaya is extra sensitive to his enviroments. He would be able to pick up the vibes just like how Orihime is able to pick his. And in his gruff and scold manner (which Orihime seems to understand why and likes very much), Hitsugaya would MAKE AN EFFORT TO CHEER HER UP. (I don't see Ichigo trying to cheer Orihime up)

And knowing Hitsugaya, he wouldn't allow Orihime to self-sacrifice herself to the extend of her life. He would always think about his precious people all the time.

Hitsugaya is THE CAPTAIN. Ichigo?? Just a substitute shinigami with an embarrassing hollow trying to eat him from inside. I think Orihime is much more SAFER BEING WITH HITSUGAYA than with Ichigo.

Yep, I think Orihime would definitely be much happier with Hitsugaya than with Ichigo. And Hitsugaya is worth more than ten Ichigo to Orihime.

Bah, Ichigo with Rukia.....yeah like married old couple. So what?? If they are going to beat and insult each other almost every day, I think their lives would be interestingly short

Thats when the comparison of Rukai about to be executed, in soul society, and Orihime being kidnapped by unknown people, and ichigo is taking it like a joke, come into place. Then again it was fillers after all.

My thoughts on possible pairings:

Ichigo x Rukia: They have a big possibly of getting together in the future, as they are first male and female lead in Bleach. I mean Ichigo went all the way to SS to save her didn’t he?

Renji x Rukia: I think Renji cares for Rukia very much since they grew up and joined Death God School together. But I don’t see these two getting together (they would make a cute couple though), even though a lot of people out there are fans of this possible pairing. I see it as Renji likes Rukia but I don’t see Rukia returning it back as there’s also Ichigo in the picture. It will prob end up in a love triangle between Ichigo x Rukia x Renji.

Ichigo x Inoue: Ah I don’t see these two pairing up either. Its very much one sided that Inoue obviously has a crush on Ichigo but nothing more will come off it. She prob knows that she and Ichigo can never hook up as there’s obviously Rukia in the picture. Remember when she asked Rukia if she was going out with Ichigo when they were in school in the real world? She didn’t look at all jealous when she asked, so she prob knows its only a crush that will go nowhere.

Ishida x Inoue: I would like these two to get together, I wouldn’t really mind cos you can see that Ishida has a lil crush on her. Like everytime he blushes after she thanks or compliments him. Haha.

Ishida x Nemu: I would love these two get together somehow. I just love the way they met. I don’t know why there aren’t more people mentioning these two as their favourite or possible pairing. I mean they would so suit each other in terms of looks and personality. I mean they are both quiet and in some sense secretive. If only they can somehow pair up in the future, but some1 did point out that it could be a challenge as Ishida is a Quincy and Nemu is a Death God who is the daughter to Mayuri who prob killed Ishida’s grandfather in one of his twisted experiments. But fingers crossed for them… =)

Hitsugaya x Hinamori: Oh my gosh! This is ultimate favourite couple! It’s so plain to see that Hitsu likes Hinamori very much. The lengths he went to to protect her is so heartwarming. Like the way he went to Ichimaru first and when Hina showed up and he told her to step back so he can defeat Ichimaru for her, ah that was so sweet. He’s so so so cute and would seriously match with Hina. I mean he’s always trying to protect her, and the way he’s ready to kill any1 that even hurts her is so sweet. I swear they have to pair up in the future, if they don’t I would be so disappointed man. No not just me but a whole load of people will be very disappointed.

Hitsugaya x Matsumoto: Ah this pairing will never happen, as I believe Hitsu likes Hinamori a lot and prob for a very long time as well. While Hitsu likes Hina, Matsumoto seems to like Ichimaru even though she prob knows she shouldn’t, but they do have a deep history together that we don’t really know about apart from the fact that he did save her from starvation. Anyways back to Hitsu and Matsu, I just truly believe they have an exceptionally good Captain and Vice Captain relationship where they fully trust and respect each other. And while Matsu is so so lazy at her job, Hitsu tolerates it which shows what a good Captain he is. Plus the age difference between the two is a big issue. He’s still a kid while Matsu is a fully erm… developed. Haha. He’s much more suited to Hina where the age difference looks like its only prob a yr or two.

I think the best couples I’m seen so far are this one:

Ichigo and Rukia, this has being one of the most beautiful pairing I'm seen in Anime, really, One of the reasons I follow the series, is to see this interesting pairing, A Human, and a Soul. And Im lloking foward that they end up together.

Well crack seems to be more fun becuase you can allow characters to be slightly OOC when in some cases you can't in normal romantic fanfiction. I wrote AizenxOrihime once and was barily 300 words just to see two extremes meeting. Nothing more than a harmless experiment. ;)

Actually ... I think Urahara + Yoruichi has much more grounds. She left her position as nobility (and commander of a lethal squad) for him (and got exiled from Soul Society along with him), you don't just do that for someone who isn't important. They also share all their information about everything (allowing them to have the one up in many situations). I believe they also built that secret training ground together (where Ichigo achieved Bankai).

I mean, if you can stomach Ichigo X Tatsuki (What interactions do they have? She beat him up when they were little ... wow), there is no way you can deny Urahara X Yoruichi as a viable pair.

That being said, I wish to partake in this fanboy(and girl) fest.

UruharaxYoruichi is obvious. They have been exiled, basically in sole contact with one another for over a century. If you watch some of the omake scenes, even the writers hint at this. Still, I much prefer YoruichixSoi Fon. I like the idea of a lesbian pairing because it's something that isnt overused (like ichixhime; quiet, surly guy with a bubbly, airheaded girl.) and it lends a bit of humanity to the shinigami. Plus, their backstory is just way too romantic.

RenjixRukia. Cannot say this enough. There can be no argument. Renji turned against his own captain to save her. He should have died several times during the battle, yet did not give up. When he realized Ichigo was his only hope of saving her, he didnt even hesitate to join him. Renji is so in love with Rukia it is not even right.

One I would love to see just for the hell of it, IsshinxUnohana. Just cause. While I'm at it, YachiruxKenpachi. Maybe her loyalty goes a step further...

Stragely enough, out of all the different animes I've watched, This is the only anime that Im not really a big fan of any couple o.0 The only 2 pairing I like even abit are Orihime/Tatsuki or Ichigo/Tatsuki.

They are a bit more deeper then some psychological speach that was just plain wrong. Become stronger then the hollow, if he follows that advice Ogihci would eat him a live. Then I rather choose Orihime, the girl that loves Ichigo from the start. It's sad how the anime portraited her at the start wrong (start anime she is scared of Ichigo WTF??!!!) . In the manga she loves him from the first second in the manga and that makes me wanna cheer for her even more cause I'm a sucker for crushes :>.

Well I won't be surprised that Orihime x ichigo cause it seems that the manga wants to make the connection between them a bit deeper.

Actually, Rukia is the person least full of herself if you bothered to understand her character. She has confidence but she's not arrogant. And most of the bleach community hopes that they end up together not because he plays the part of "romantic hero", Ichigo is not a romantic hero, but because they have excellent chemistry, work well together, and have an equal relationship formed out of mutual respect for each other. He saved her, but she saved him as well. So I don't know what you're talking about.

You make a nice case for yourself by insulting a character like that -_-. Really, there's NO need to insult her like that and for such shallow reasons. I didn't get pissed when Rukia got back and made him fight a hollow, you know why? Because it fucking worked. She got him out of his depression and she knew what he needed at the time. If it were so easy and simple to do, and so shallow as you claim, then why wasn't the oh so lovely and sweet and deep Orihime able to do that? And it's not Ogihci but HollowIchigo at this point, so please refer to him in language that most people can understand.

Finally, Rukia "stole" d-roy because Ichigo was being a cocky bastard who told Chad to get the hell away and hurt his feelings. Rukia was trying to show Ichigo that he shouldn't be so arrogant. Really, if you actually bothered to understand the characters then you'd realize that Rukia is the least arrogant person around and the most well-grounded one in terms of sizing up her enemies.

Yeah you really have a show with so many characters that an amazing amount of pairings can be created out of it. Just a few pairings that I'm behind.

Hitsugaya x Hinamori
Another one of those childhood friends situations, though one where one of the friends tries to kill the other in a crazed rage. It's clear in terms of Hitsugaya's feelings on the matter. Following her after she left and becoming a Captain so he could better protect her. Hell even took on Aizen and Gin for her sake although one was more of a draw and the other was a loss. How things proceed there will depend on how she recovers from the betrayal, being stabbed, and having attacked her friend and disregarding everything she knew about him after all the time they spent together.

Ishida x Inoue
Like most I thought about this one more once the SS arc got going. Ishida really worked hard to protect her and took interest in what she had to say. While Inoue is still interested in Ichigo at least we got to see the interest on Ishida's side from the time they spent together. Taking on a Captain by himself to ensure that she would escape from harm. Even after the arc on their way home you could tell she understood him better after all of that. The sooner Ichigo pairs off the better since it doesn't seem like she'll notice Ishida in that way until after.

Other pairings that I like are:
Ichigo x Tatsuki (Just seeing her recent appearances in the show makes me wonder what'll happen there)

Yoruichi x Kisuke

and some others but nothing that important.

A few though that I'm not all that keen on:

Hitsugaya x Matsumoto
I do like their teamwork and they certainly do a good job together. Hitsugaya works as the serious captain doing the paperwork while his vice captain is more interested in drinking and having fun. While they have their quarrels, they both trust each other and know they can count on the other no matter what happens. When things get serious they are a great team. I don't see much romance coming between them but they are good friends I think.

Ishida x Nemu
It's just something I can never figure out. Yes they talked and didn't kill each other. But come on Nemu is completely loyal to Mayuri who allowed (thousands?) of Ishida's fellow Quincy to be killed and then having their souls multilated. If he ever sees that guy again he won't hesitate to try and kill him. Don't think Ishida could get along with someone like that. She's just too loyal to someone who would kill her without a thought. Plus being a death god she's just on his dislike list at any rate.
