O_O

Aoi Hana?!! I didn't expect that one to be animated. That title is rather subdued looking yet can twist your heart a bit. I heard it even made one of Carlo, one ANN's reviewers, cry and he's tough on manga.

If this really gets an anime adaptation it would be the first boy's light novel series from the shounen light novel label HJ Bunko (http://www.comipedia.com/light-novel-label/hj-bunko) to get an anime adaptation.

umm, that's a neat cover. I can tell the protagonist is going to have a massive harem.

The rumor mentioned in this post (http://forums.animesuki.com/showpost.php?p=2247520&postcount=2988) turned out to be true. Now we'll have to wait and see if the seinen yuri manga Sasameki Koto will also be getting animated.

There will be three big announcements in the next issue of the seinen manga magazine Comic Alive (http://www.comipedia.com/magazine/comic-alive). So this is one (the anime adaptation of "Asobi ni Ikuyo!" light novel series). Now what are the rest... (one of these two might be an anime adaptation of Sasameki Koto :) )

Omamori Himari is 28 chapters. Even if the anime didn't come out until around Spring of 2010, it would only be something like twice that. Would it really be wise to start an anime adaptation with so little in the way of source material?

...Then again, they may just be looking for another 26 episode space filler....

They can pull 12-13 eps out of that, and that does seem to be the speed of many new shows.

While I'm certain no one really cares about Beyblade here, some of this information might be of minor interest.

TV Tokyo launched the Beyblade page for the new series, which is titled Metal Fight Beyblade (http://www.tv-tokyo.co.jp/anime/mf-beyblade/). It will begin broadcast April 5th at 8:30AM, replacing Net Ghost PiPoPa. The Staff listing also has been announced as follows:

Cast is also listed as well. Interesting to see Tatsunoko Productions working on this.
Not only that, but the director of Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters and writer of Bakuten Shoot Beyblade G Revolution are on staff, too, which I think is great. I'm both shocked and disappointed with who's doing the music, though; I think it's the guy who did the music for the English version of Bakugan Battle Brawlers O_o Like, wtf?

Nonetheless, I'm greatly anticipating this series.

Second: I may possibly miss the premiere of FMA because I'll be walking around town dressed up like a ninja... hmm, maybe I should learn how to set up my VCR.

Third: Does anyone know about TBS (Tokyo Broadcasting System) and MBS (Mainichi Broadcasting System) relate to NHK 1 through whatever?

Yves Saint Laurent?

Like...the fashion designer who died last year?

From looking around, yes that's him.

Here's something from this site (http://blog.lib.umn.edu/ochsn016/daily_deals/2008/06/yves_saint_laurent_obituary.html) about his book La Vilaine Lulu:

Saint Laurent often said he wanted to write his autobiography and continually referred to his frustration at not being able to complete it. The closest he came was with the publication of his book, La Vilaine Lulu, in 1967. It recounted the adventures of Nasty Lulu, a cartoon character he had been doodling for some 10 years. Lulu, a squat, sadistic little girl, was in some ways Saint Laurent's alter ego, saying and doing what he dared not. Nasty Lulu once said, for example: "I roar with laughter when all those females, the faithful, the content, the fanatics of fashion, the blue-stockings, the journalists, come to scratch the nape of his neck and murmur with beatitude: 'My Yves.' They whisper to him, flutter around him, and he says nothing. If I weren¹t to be a comic, there would be a lot to say on the psychological level about that shy bird, that myopic being who, behind those eyeglasses like television screens, is never snowed. He immediately detects in another what is true, what is crucial."

this site (http://blog.lib.umn.edu/ochsn016/daily_deals/2008/06/yves_saint_laurent_obituary.html) about his book La Vilaine Lulu:

My French is pretty rusty these days, so I wondered if "vilaine" was a misspelling of "villaine," the feminine form of "villain." Turns out "vilaine" means "ugly."

I looked around a bit to find an image of Ugly Lulu. Here's a couple from the cover of a book of St. Laurent's cartoons published in 1967:

http://menges.nuxit.net/images/30/book_197.jpg
Rather a different look from the "Little Lulu" character that I grew up with in the US:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/f/fa/Marge%27s_Little_Lulu_-10.jpg
I'll be curious to see how this translates to an anime.

Toei Animation has confirmed that this spring's Dragon Ball Kai re-airing of its Dragon Ball Z anime will be edited to more closely follow Akira Toriyama's original manga.
The new Dragon Ball Kai remastering will be an "Akira Toriyama original cut edition" that will quicken the story presentation and adhere more with the manga's story.

The anime footage will be enhanced with the latest digital technology. This includes a new full-HD remastering from the film reels of the original run, renewed soundtracks and sound effects, and new dialogue recordings with most of the original cast. The re-airing will launch in Japan on April 5.

Hi SeijiSensei. I am French and "vilaine" can also be traducted by "nasty" (sexual, grrr... ) or used when a kid does something forbidden or something like that (means "bad").

So, what's happening with Appleseed? Is it actually airing in Spring or has it just been pigeonholed like Rainbow?

Also, is the Romance of the Three Kingdoms anime airing in Spring? I have seen images of it, a long, well-detailed trailer, and a notice that its airing around that time. I know Souten Koro is similar, but i'm just wondering about it.

(Also, for anyone who cares about those season preview charts, there's now a site for that - http://chartfag.wordpress.com)

Hokkaido TV (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=Hokkaido+TV) is a network affiliate of tv asahi (http://company.tv-asahi.co.jp/e/contents/network/index.html).

On-chan (http://www.tokyoanime.jp/tafweb/taf2004/eng/event/theater/onchang.asp) is the popular mascot character of HTB (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=HTB+Hokkaido) (Hokkaido Television Broadcasting Co., Ltd.), adored not only in Hokkaido, but throughout Japan.

HTB produced Yumemiru, Anime "on-chan"'s predecessor, On-chan, (http://www.tokyoanime.jp/tafweb/taf2004/eng/whnew/taf_award/on.asp) Yume Power Daibouken! (On-chan, Dream Power Adventure!) (http://www.animenfo.com/animetitle,1248,nckiwd,on_chan__yume_p.html). In this earlier, original animation version, Japanese mainstream celebrity Shinohara Tomoe (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=Shinohara+Tomoe) voiced the lead role, on-chan, while Araki Kae, perhaps best known as Yuuki Miaka in Fushigi Yuugi.

According to this post (http://changi.2ch.net/test/read.cgi/anime4vip/1236781300/138) on a BS11 anime thread at 2ch...

At the HTB (Hokkaido Broadcasting System, Co., Ltd.) Booth at the Tokyo International Anime Fair (TAF) 2009, leaflets announce that the Yumemiru, Anime "on-chan" anime will begin airing on the free-to-air digital broadcasting satellite platform BS-11 across Japan next month:

1) 2009/04/09- : Thursdays, 24:25-, Japan Time (Fridays, 12:25am-, Japan Time)

2) 2009/04/12- : Sundays, 16:55-, Japan Time (Sundays, 4:55pm-, Japan Time)

Edit: Soon after I wrote this post, in her 2009/03/21 (http://www.tanaka-rie.com/diary_7/?20090321) entry on her blog, Tanaka Rie confirmed the above broadcast schedule for Yumemiru, Anime "on-chan" on BS 11. She also announced that it will begin airing on the free-to-air digital broadcasting satellite platform BS Asahi across Japan next month:

1) 2009/04/06- : Mondays, 23:00-, Japan Time (Mondays, 11:00pm-, Japan Time)

There is no indication yet whether this nationwide broadcast in Japan of Yumemiru, Anime "on-chan" will consist of the original 26-episode, 5-minute television anime series which aired locally on HTB in Hokkaido last year, new episodes, or both.

Tanaka Rie mentioned in her blog a few weeks ago that it has been a while since she has played the role of a young person or a young child.

Other than Kujou Hikari aka Shiny Luminous in the Pretty Cure All Stars DX movie currently showing in theaters throughout Japan, could it be on-chan?

The popular HTB mascot on-chan made his debut back in 1997; I even saw the live version of on-chan on a Japanese language program from Japan earlier this year on local television, Channel 18 (KSCI-TV), in Southern California. The girlfriend of on-chan (who is yellow) is ok-chan (who is pink).

The link to the Englsh web page for the HTB Booth at the Tokyo International Fair 2009, which includes images of on-chan and his pals, follows below.

http://www.tokyoanime.jp/event/view_exhibitor.php?l=en&id=68

P.S. According to Variety, (http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118001030.html?categoryid=14) an unnamed block of Fox programming, including American Idol, will also begin airing on BS-11 across Japan next month.

Imagine that... on-chan and Simon Cowell together on the same TV station.

The boy's light novel series Toradora! (a Dengeki Bunko light novel series) got an anime announcement on April 1st, 2008. which turned out to be true.

The boy's light novel series Shakugan no SHANA (a Dengeki Bunko light novel series) got an announcement of a second anime season on April 1st, 2007. which also turned out to be true.

Will another shounen light novel series from the "Dengeki Bunko (http://www.comipedia.com/light-novel-label/dengeki-bunko)" label get an anime announcement on April 1st, 2009 too... we'll see...

Or maybe its for real, and they want to mimic the Dengeki Bunko habit? :heh:

What's so fishy about this adult OVA? well, if you remember just a while back I mentioned the adult OVA adaptation of the Hitoriga manga. Azabu Juuban Gakuen will launch in May as a series of 36 one-minute episodes that updates every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Shiawase no Hitsuji will be 100 five-minute daily episodes starting in May. Suzu-3-taro will premiere in June as a series of 24 two-minute episodes released every Monday and Thursday.

From MangaUpdates:

The protagonist is a guy who is among the stupidest of the stupidest in the school. In this school, your grades can, under the supervision of teachers, take a virtual form to do combat! However, if you leave an examination half way, you get zero marks. A bright and cute girl, Mizuki Himeji, was having a high fever during the examination. Despite her potential to be the second highest scorer in the level, she obtained zero marks for having left due to her illness and is thus allocated to the worst class, class F.

Grades mean almost everything. For Class A, they have a smart-looking teacher, a plasma TV as big as the entire wall as their blackboard, personal laptops, personal air-cons, refrigerators, adjustable seats and all kinds of different appliances. Within the refrigerator, there are all kinds of drinks and snacks. Their ceiling is made of glass, the wall lets them put up high-class drawings and plants.

As for Class F, the worst class... They have Japanese desks and seat paddings. Their blackboard is dirty and there is no chalk even! Someone complains that the legs of his desk are broken, so the teacher asks, "Didn't we distribute some glue to stick wood together? Glue it back yourself later." Another one complains that wind is blowing in from the broken window. The teacher says, "I got it. I will apply for plastic bags and invisible glue to fix it later." There are spider webs everywhere, not a patch of the wall is clean. A unique moldy smell spreads across the entire room; it must be from the old tatamis used to tile the floor. This is the status of class F.

The protagonist feels displeased at such an arrangement, and seeks help from his friends to try to make a change through summoning war!! And they devise all kinds of plans to try to beat the famous class A, intending to get class A's classroom and equipment if they win!!

Just a small correction:
The "Weiß" in weiß survive is ,like so many words in anime, from the german language; i know cause i am german.
The "ß" is a letter similar to when writing "ss" in a word. thats why it is not weib survive. "Weib" would be german for "woman" in an unfriendly way; while "weiß" or "weiss" means "white".

and in addition. animenation blog has posted there will be a third aika OVA.

And i think this deserves to be mentioned even when its not anime:
http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/bloodthelastvampire/

if its from them it can in no way suck as much as the dragon ball movie. the trailer suggests it will be awesome.

Yeah, I know; ヴァイス = vaisu --> Weiss. Some Japanese sites used "ß" and others used "ss" so I figured it was the same. But I didn't know the word was german, I could have asked my uncle for its meaning >_<

Well, it's not exactly Blood+ adaptation, but rather Blood The Last Vampire's (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=7) live adaptation. Blood+ is the alternate world of Blood The Last vampire, after all :heh:

POP, the illustrator of the Moetan English-teaching guides for otaku, has announced this week that he is releasing an original anime project called Kowarekake no Orgol (Kowarekake no Orugōru or Half-Broken Music Box) in December. The story centers on a musician who goes to one unsuccessful audition after another. One day, he meets a mysterious girl who ends up living with him. POP is producing the anime as a dōjin, or self-published, work under his own ElectromagneticWave brand. The anime will debut at the Comic Market 75 dōjin convention between December 28 and December 30.

Well, it's not exactly Blood+ adaptation, but rather Blood The Last Vampire's (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=7) live adaptation. Blood+ is the alternate world of Blood The Last vampire, after all :heh:

Well thats what i thought as well. But in the trailer they say "based on a hit series".
Thats why i am confused now.

I'll admit that it does have that in it, but it also has a pretty interesting story and enjoyable chars. And everyone loves Teresa ^_^!. Plus, the fighting involves actual elements from the periodic table, as well as incorporating realistic vulnerabilities(like Iron being weak to Oxygen, or one weapon being stronger than another because its element is naturally stronger), and its complex enough to make the battles interesting. I think it's been pretty good, at least the first 3 chapters (http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=73275). I've been liking it up to the latest trans chap(chap 12), i just wish there were more releases.

If I recalled correctly, the anime adaption of the series has been "rumored" back in February alone with SZS3 (which later confirmed to be true).

Well, what I mean is that the covers are way too NSFW when compared to the contents of the manga. The contents are not really that... Uhhh... You know... Like the cover. (Well, it's still NSFW, but not that extreme :heh:)

Kinda make me wonder though if this is one of the low-key planned production like most of BL animes are, since the story is pretty much non-existent.

The upcoming "Nodame Cantabile" TV anime series will be titled:

のだめカンタービレ フィナーレ
Nodame Cantabile Final

It will start broadcast not this autumn but in January 2010.

Not to be overly pedantic, but shouldn't that be "Finale", ideally with the accent over the e (in keeping with the musical theme of the series)?

From Manga Abyss scanlation group:
Which to choose, the country or my friend--!? The "Continent of Cruzon", a world where people are born with magic. Lygatto, one of the rare people "without magic" in this world, is getting swallowed up in the whirlpool of a massive war. With Lygatto as the core, four close friends are connected by cruel fate in a spectacular war tale!!!

In the continent of Cruzon, an impending war between the Kingdom of Krishna and the nation of Athens is brimming. The people of this land are able to wield the crystals from the ground for whatever purpose they desire. Yet one person, Lygatto Arrow, is not. He is an "un-sorcerer", a person unable to wield the crystals. But this characteristic will enable him to pilot an ancient mecha, one strong enough to put up a fight against the invading army of Athens.

Here's the rumor of it getting an anime adaptation as I mentioned in a previous post in this thread:

The shounen manga BREAK BLADE (ブレイク ブレイド) by Yoshinaga Yuunosuke will be getting an important announcement.

The announcement will appear on the obi strip (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obi_strip) that will be with the 6th volume of the BREAK BLADE manga. The 6th volume of the manga will be officially released on July 12th, 2009, but in some stores it will be already lined up around July 8th, 2009. The important announcement will also appear on the BREAK BLADE blog (http://flex-comix.jp/breakblade/) on July 8th.

Source: BREAK BLADE blog (http://flex-comix.jp/breakblade/2009/06/_6.html)

Could this important announcement be a TV anime adaptation? OVA adaptation? Drama CD adaptation? ... we'll have to wait...

As was mentioned on the BREAK BLADE blog (http://flex-comix.jp/breakblade/2009/06/_6.html) that on July 8th a big announcement will appear on it, and the announcement turned out to be an anime adaptation (http://flex-comix.jp/breakblade/2009/07/post_10.html).

Ahh, I see, I'll correct the title in that post, and add it as "Finale" to the Upcoming Anime List.

Thanks :)

2001 Nights

The manga was serialized in Futabasha (http://www.comipedia.com/publisher/futabasha)'s seinen manga magazine Monthly Super Action between 1984 and 1986, and was published under the seinen comic imprint Action Comics (http://comipedia.com/comic-imprint/action-comics).

From wikipedia:

2001 Nights consists of several loosely connected short stories, all taking place in the same timeline, with the whole series spanning several hundred years. Many of the stories are related to each other (even across books), each building upon the achievements of the previous ones. The stories are often (but not always) scientifically plausible, recalling a lot of the early science fiction of the 1950 and 1960 eras.

Mangaka: Hoshino Yukinobu

Genre: Seinen, Science Fiction

Generally speaking, this description means the 2nd anime series starts in October."

An anime? for now its a rumor... we'll have to wait for the announcement to know...

Unless its a re-invention and/or they cut the ultimate-evil what-its-name out of it, its just a waste of time.

Well, I certainly wouldn't consider a second season a waste of time. The anime just dropped the story in the middle, and whatever you think of it we now have a manga ending crying out to be animated.

If I were to put it into words, I think of it as the most extended blown out of proportion single arc spanning 100+ episodes of all time.

I dropped it at some point since it was just going nowhere.
Is the manga a different story or something?

Guardian Enzo
2009-07-09, 17:52
Some of the anime was filler - maybe 20% - but the rest followed the manga pretty closely. Until, that is, the anime stopped with the story completely unresolved. If they picked it up there would be no need for any filler, since the mange is fully complete.

Yeah I really think they should bring Inuyasha back for closure...
The rest of the manga really does need to be animated...
It would look better too...
