Don't bother continuing with this thread if you don't feel like it. Everybody can contribute to it from time to time. :)
Thanks for all the work you put in the previous topic :)
Ahhhh at last some TV series actually based on a manga. It has been a long time ^^
Shounen Inyoushi looks interesting, too. About The Sneaker, it's the magazine in which Trinity Blood was published (not as if it really relevant, because Shounen Inyoushi comes from Beans Ace ^^).

Air Gear is stupid but really pretty. It would be interesting to see how it is animated, because the plot is nothing to write home about, even though this is Oh!great's work. I am just hoping for some good T&A fanservice and well-animated AT battles.
As for the rest, I am really interested in Shonen Onmyoji. The designs look pretty and I love seinen in general.
As for the rest, I am really interested in Shonen Onmyoji. The designs look pretty and I love seinen in general.
Then be disappointed, Shounen Onmyoji is a josei novel/manga.
I have already said this:
Shonen Onmyoji novel is serialized in the josei(young women's) novel magazine The Beans, so its a josei novel.
The manga based on the novel is serialized in the seinen/josei manga magazine Beans Ace, but since its based on a josei novel, Shounen Onmyoji is a josei manga.
There are seinen manga in Beans Ace but those manga are based on seinen novels that are serialized in the seinen novel magazine The Sneaker.

I usually equate seinen and josei because 20-something young men and women usually have similar tastes in mature, non-cliched plots without the regular ways of anime.

similar tastes LOL :heh: I guess you don't know that there are also many josei novels/manga that have shounen-ai in them.

I am not at all against shounen-ai if it has an intersting plot, well-drawn animation and characters that have traits that are a bit deeper than just being hot.

Cool! :D Well now, I wonder...in ep 2 of SHUFFLE!, Asa was reading a Soul Link book...I wonder if that was a teaser of things to come, even 20-some-odd weeks ago? Hmm. :)
Also I tried the website...it asks for a login and pw :eyebrow: Are they just fiddling with it, or is there really a login to take a look? Hmm. If so, do you or anyone else know a login id/pw that would work so we can go take a look? :)
anyways, very cool news, I can't wait!

Yeah I also tried the website but the same login/password came up, my guess is its just way to early for any info so waiting is the only thing we can do.
If you haven't all ready checked it out before here's the web site for the game.

I usually equate seinen and josei because 20-something young men and women usually have similar tastes in mature, non-cliched plots without the regular ways of anime.
While I would love to agree with you here, a lot of the crap animes like Raimiuro Senkitan, Green Green, and hentai are targeted at the seinen 20-30-something young men also. For me, I define seinen to the genre that first introduced the term to me, usually slice-of-life atmospheric anime with minimal ecchiness, stuff like Kamichu!, Aria, YKK, Victorian Romance Emma, and the like.
I will be interested in Shonen Onmyouji also if they portray the guys realistically (meaning, appealing to guys too, like yeah! that could have been me!) such as H&C. So far most shounen-ai anime rubbed off me as stories starring girls who just happen to have d**ks.
--------------------------------------
Also, the word h-game based-anime should not be misinterpreted. I believe it was pointed out in another forum (either animeondvd or animenation) that Meine Liebe, Harutoki, Sukisyo, were animes based on erogames for girls. So the next time somebody says "crap h-game anime", they must be specific..., i.e. "crap bishoujo game anime". For the record I find >50% bishoujo anime are actually pretty decent.
MrProphet
2005-12-26, 02:09
Green Green is seinen? It's VERY hard for me to believe that any crap Bishoujo Game is seinen... I mean, they so sophomoric and mindless!!!
Dark Lord Zenigame
2005-12-26, 02:23
Given that seinen are the ones who play bishoujo games, why the hell wouldn't an anime based on one not be aimed at the same audience? -_-
MrProphet
2005-12-26, 04:19
In my experience, the ones playing h-games were mostly teenagers. 8)
Dragnfly@Gamefaqs
2005-12-26, 04:42
I don't see the logic to that experience as most all the warnings involved pretty much exclude all teens except for the last two years. Most people I know with collections of store-bought hentai are in the late 20's range.
Dark Lord Zenigame
2005-12-26, 05:07
Exactly.
The real audience is the guys who wait hours in line in Akiba to pick up the latest release from Sofmap, not the moron kids who just download everything. :p
MrProphet
2005-12-26, 05:58
Warning labels stop noone. Warning labels in fact encourage teenage audience. 8)
But we have gotten badly off-topic. Look for example at Air Gear. This and other works of Oh!great feature nudity, sex, profainity and intense graphic violence.
Yet he is published in a SHOUNEN publication and trust me when I say that the suggested audience is definitely NOT 18+. 8)
The same would be true for the TV-show. It's a shounen audience, despite the supposedly 18+ suggestions.
The site for Soul Link anime is now working: http://www.soul-link.com/ :)
And Yay look what got announced:
====================
ARIA The ANIMATION 第2期
Yay Yay Yay a second season of ARIA The ANIMATION :D

For now there are 7 volumes released of this manga, here are the covers:
http://img308.imageshack.us/img308/1839/vol16wy.jpg http://img308.imageshack.us/img308/6531/vol22rk.jpg http://img308.imageshack.us/img308/3999/vol39ew.jpg http://img308.imageshack.us/img308/5890/vol47tw.jpg http://img308.imageshack.us/img308/8445/vol55jm.jpg http://img308.imageshack.us/img308/3368/vol69yn.jpg http://img308.imageshack.us/img308/1358/vol70zx.jpg
Volume 8 of ARIA will be released in January 2006 :)
Genre: Seinen, Sci-fi, Comedy, Adventure, Drama, Slice-Of-Life
====================
Dragnfly@Gamefaqs

This is good news indeed. It's more of nothing but nothing is so nice in Aria's case. I like just watching the characters go about their lives in that beautiful soft sci-fi world.
In other news, I haven't heard anything else about the Arffi anime so I'm gonna vote it as an unfounded rumour. My apologies. Guess I jumped the gun. Sucks, too. I really wanted to see Socom with a rage control psychosis.
There is a site (that I don't want to mention) thats listing 3 manga that are going to get animated :) but MoonPhase is not listing these anime  so I'm not sure should I mention them or not :uhoh: or maybe I should wait until its confirmed and listed by MoonPhase :uhoh:
the 3 manga that are listed on the site:
2 manga are seinen manga
1 manga is shoujo manga
The first volume cover of the shoujo manga has a guy putting his hand inside the girls pink panties (while she's wearing them) :twitch: if this is really getting animated I must watch this, no way I'm missing this :D (unless it has shounen-ai of course).
Ok now I know why the three manga (from the post above) are not mentioned on MoonPhase its because they are not getting animated but they are getting TV drama series ( each one of them that is ^^; ), since this is the New Announced Anime thread I will not mention them.

A manga is starting in the shoujo manga magazine Comic Yurihime.
From what I know Comic Yurihime is a magazine for lesbians.
Genre: Shoujo, Yuri.
====================
Strawberry Panic! is a yuri novel/manga/anime for males (the manga and novel are serialized in a magazine for male audience and yes they are targeted at male audience).
I started a thread about the male-oriented Strawberry Panic! anime in here (http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=26846).

From the description posted above, I take that Strawberry Panic is a "little bit" similar to Maria sama ga Miteru then?
EDIT: oops !! didn't see the link to the Strawberry Panic thread, my bad.
From the description posted above, I take that Strawberry Panic is a "little bit" similar to Maria sama ga Miteru then?
I have no idea if its similar or not, because I didn't watch it (Maria sama ga Miteru anime)
And if its similar or not, that does not change the target audience.
Strawberry Panic is a yuri novel/manga/anime for male audience, unlike Maria sama ga Miteru which is shoujo novel/manga/anime.

Its based on a manga thats serialized in the shoujo manga magazine Comic Yurihime.
For now there are 3 volumes released of this manga.
Ah ah, so this is why one of the illustrations in the site feature the two heroines kissing on a plane. All is clear now.
From what I understood from the official site, people in the world of Simoun can change their sex whan they reach 15 years of age (an idea a litle bit similar with the "They were eleven" movie & manga), so I thought that the yuri bits were only a possibility... but if this series comes from from a yuri magazine, we are fixed.
After an onslaught of novel-inspired animes announcements the past months, we are now facing the begining of an invasion of yuri anime. What wil be next ? lol

Thats why I couldn't find the manga volumes lol because they didn't exist in the first place lol :heh:
Edit: info got corrected.
Anyway thanks for the help :)
Your information regarding Aria, Kirarin Revolution, Princess Princess

But I dislike yuri so i'm not looking forward to Strawberry Panic.
I will have a go for Kirarin Revolution and Princess Princess

Bessatsu Young Magazine is not Young Magazine.
There are three manga magazines from Kodansha with the word "Young" in it:
Young Magazine
Young Magazine Uppers
Bessatsu Young Magazine
Kyo no Gononi; I can't find info about this, could it have ended and its only one volume? (I read somewhere that it got popular and some chapters were serialized in the weekly magazine Young Magazine).
Some info about Kyo no Gononi (Today in Class 5-2), from Manganews (http://manganews.net/seriesinfo.php?id=1253):
This one-volume manga by Sakuraba Koharu portrays the fifth grade in a... different light. The chapters ran in Young Magazine, a relatively small publication, and were then released in volume form, when it gained some cult following.
What makes this manga particularly unique is not it's characters, which represent fairly run-of-the-mill manga personalities like those found in FLCL, Azumanga, and even Sister Princess--which should give you a pretty good idea of what does make this manga interesting: the perfect blend of school humor, plain ridiculousness, and raging sexual innuendo.
Ah, fifth grade like you wish you remembered it!
Genre: Seinen, Comedy
The one volume manga got scanlated by Jinmen Juushin group (the manga is not licensed), and it can be found here: http://jinmen.pyoko.org/projects.php?project=Today_in_Class_5-2
Just finished reading Kyo no Gononi. It's like a slightly more perverted mutation of Azumanga Daioh and Ichigo Mashimaro, or something like that. Slice-of-life, basically. The characters are mostly archetypical, but they're not annoyingly so. It has my approval.:)

Ok, my two Euro cents on two series:
Air Gear: While the pics look good, an anime about inline skating sounds really boring...
Souta-kun Akihabara Funtouki: Looks nice, and it's from the same magazine which Pani Poni Dash appeared in, which is certainly promising :D
Air Gear isn't so much about skating as it is about..... scaling buildings, jumping across rooftops, racing on top of a speeding train, beating people up, all whilst on these powered rollerblades of doom.
Princess Princess site has opened: http://www.pri-pri.jp/

G.U. looks to be an action series, judging from the game trailers. I'm really looking forward to it, that I am. :>

Any network runs all over the world, and the development of the information network reaches its acme. In this age, there are two developed worlds; “the real world” and “wired”, or the virtual network world.
Soma Toru belongs to a hacking group, Steppen Wolf, which runs around the network world freely. They attack the database of the UN forces as their last work. During this attack, he loses Nonomura Yuya, his friend as well as the team leader. Toru is arrested by the army. In exchange for letting him free, he has to work for an anti-hacker organization, the first squad of the UN Security Force Information Administration Bureau.
Working for them, he is looking for the person who killed his friend, while the other members also have their own reason to fight.
The three-way fights of the terrorist group, the security enterprise, and the army, continue every day. The various events occurred during the fight seem to be independent of each other at the first glance, but they’re converging on one event as if they were attracted by something.

パピヨンローゼ (Papillon Rose)
http://www.ayaya.co.jp/papillon_index.html
Broadcasting station:TV Hokkaido
Airing time: (Every week on Thursday)25:30~26:00
Broadcast target date:February 2nd
Based on an ONA (non-existant, it was just a hoax back in 2001, ended up getting turned into a one episode OVA in 2003, had tons of merchandise in between 2001 and 2005 though to expand it's mostly non-existant universe) that was basically a ecchi Sailor Moon parody. (Also parody of other popular anime)
Not exactly sure how ecchi it's going to stay though since a lot of things so far have been changed, I can tell that much just from the images I've seen in magazines and on the net. Still worth looking at, that's what I'd say to people. Of course I'm going to watch it cause I'm a rabid fangirl. :heh:
I think it's only going to be six episodes long though.

Seems the TV Hokkaido informaiton was false. I also saw Moonphase listing this information:

More info about Shibawanko no Wa no Kokoro:
Info from Anidb (http://anidb.info/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=4296):
Based on a japanese children`s book by Yoshie Kawaura.
Shiba-wanko, a Shiba-inu dog, and Miike-nyanko, a calico cat, live together in a classic Japanese-style house with the traditional Japanese alcove called a tokonoma. Shiba-wanko is a very gentle and hardworking soul who does all of the cleaning, laundry and cooking in the house. Miike-nyanko is a different type all together, being rather temperamental and not very good with housework. Together, these two learn the manners and customs associated with events such as the proper Japanese way to treat one`s guests, preparing for a Japanese New Year and how to enjoy the kimono, the traditional Japanese costume. Each chapter covers a specific topic which has to do with living in "Wa" (the Japanese-style spirit of peace and harmony) throughout the changing seasons.

Oh yeah! Seinen rules! The best genre ever! Not only does it cover everything under the sun, but even typical shoujo / josei stuff such as romance and now fashion! Take that Parakiss!
Just curious, are those black people? Or just Japanese who just tanned their skin?
A new anime got announced and its based on a picture book >.<
Picture books are usually (from my knowledge >.<) aimed at very young children.

http://www.hakusensha.co.jp/moe/book/com/shibawanko/anime.html
Its based on a picture book.
It serialized (yes its serialized ) in the magazine MOE; a magazine on pop culture.

Isn't that Moomin (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=431) on two of MOE issue covers >.<
Of course its serialized and also has books out, for now there are 4 picture books out and book number 5 will be out on 4/3/2006 (March 4th, 2006)
Every book is about 60 pages.
Info from AnimeNfo (http://www.animenfo.com/animetitle,3668,fcknsp,shibawanko_no_w.html):
Genre: Fantasy
====================
Why I said usually:
Whats weird though, that some sites put this picture book under Picture Book for Grown-ups  are there really picture books for grown-ups
And look at what hour its going to get broadcasted: 21:45  :twitch: :twitch: :twitch:
So it seems like it is really a picture book for grown-ups
Hmmm...WTF^1,000,000! A dog picture book for adults? ...and MOE, of all things? No wonder Japan's economy is bigger than the rest of asia, they have more tastes and products to cater to those tastes than there are people in the world.
Oh yeah! Seinen rules! The best genre ever! Not only does it cover everything under the sun, but even typical shoujo / josei stuff such as romance and now fashion! Take that Parakiss!
Just curious, are those black people? Or just Japanese who just tanned their skin?
Black people, I think.
Edit:
Oops oops oops >.< I got the site for MOE magazine issues wrong
Here it is: http://www.hakusensha.co.jp/moe/moe_number.html
I corrected it in this post (http://forums.animesuki.com/showpost.php?p=460197&postcount=73).

Hey does anyone have any info on the new season of Tsubasa Resovoir Chonicles last i heard it was supposed to start in april.

Anyway, more goodies coming out in 2006:
-------------------------------------
Angelique
Release date: 2006
Genre: Shoujo, Romance
Announcement website/possible future official site (http://www.gamecity.ne.jp/neoromance/tv/ange/)
The Angelique TV anime was announced last year in celebration of the Angelique series' 10th anniverssary. It was a video game series that started 10 years ago. The game is a dating simulation game for girls (it's NOT an adult game/ero game...someone wrongly called Meine Liebe and Harukanaru Toki no Naka de ero games in an earlier post and they're completely wrong).
The general story in the Angelique world is that two girls are selected from different planets in the universe to represent the universe. They go through trials and training to see which of the two girls is more fit to take the position of Queen of the Cosmos -- a girl who will support the universe (think Magic Knight Rayearth). The trials vary and can be difficult. She has 9 guardians (among others) who are there to assist her, with each guardian corresponding to a different element in the world (fire, water, earth, etc). Will the girls fall in love with the guardians, or will they choose to become Queen instead? Do they pick love or duty? In the video game version, the player decides their destiny, but in the anime... how will they decide things? I'll have to watch to find out. :D
The series has been continuing as games, manga, CDs, concerts, etc for 10 years and features an all-star cast (Koyasu Takehito, Kotono Mitsuishi, and more...). It has previously been made into 13 OVA episodes. It's a very cute romantic series that is quite popular in Japan (you can see it referred to in manga such as Fruits Basket and Sorcerer Hunters).
The story is expands over several arcs, so no one knows which arc the anime will be about. The site that mentions it features a picture from the latest arc, so maybe the anime will be about that arc? (same characters, different story/clothes)
Here are manga pictures from the 11 volume manga series that covers the first story arc (first Ange game):

Saiunkoku Monogatari
Release Date: 2006
Genre: Shoujo, Romance, Drama, Historical
I don't know anything about this series except that it's a popular drama CD. The illustrations/character designs are by Yura Kairi, who also did the Angelique series art. So there will be two shows with her art airing at the same time. ^_^ I'm happy because I really love her art!
The drama CDs seem to be historical/shoujo pieces.
Here's a cover of one of the drama CDs:

Saiunkoku Monogatari

.hack\\G.U. is the name of the three-part series headed to the PS2 this year. .hack\\roots will be the name of the animation series (based on the storyline from the G.U. series, or vice versa), from what I gathered from their website.

From Anidb (http://anidb.info/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=1447):
Three monsters, Bem, who looks like a gangster, Bera, who looks like a boy, and Bera, a witch, act as agents of justice, hoping that they will be allowed to become human.
Several episodes involve them protecting a young boy.
The style of animation is fairly distinctive, and the storylines not without interest.
Genre: Shounen, Horror

wait, by Gakuen Heaven, do you mean Gakuen Heaven I or Gakuen Heaven II?
There are 2 Gauken Heavens? Since when? Lol the fansub of Gakuen Heaven is only on chapter 9 I think. The harem race hasn't even begun yet.
Or are you confusing that with Girls Saurus which does have 2 seasons.
Edit : Hold it, Gakuen Heaven is a Shoujo-AI? Damn Gakuen Heaven the manga is a harem with your typical Keitaro clone working at a school. Or am I just majorly confused.

I think it's a case of two series with the same name. One seems to be yaoi, the other a harem... The anime seems to be based on the former.
edit: The harem series is Gakuen Tengoku, written entirely in kanji which is translated as Gakuen Heaven, while the yaoi is Gakuen Heaven with heaven written in katakana. So the titles are different in Japanese, but when translated to english...

Yeah, I was wondering which Gakuen Heaven they were animating, too... but it's definately the yaoi game.
The PC game it will be based on is "Gakuen Heaven: Boys Love Scramble", which is a yaoi game. Official game site here (http://spray.product.co.jp/top.html), but since it's an adult PC game site I warn you that there might be adult content.. ^_^; Lots of famous voice actors...
An OVA got announced:

According to AnimeNation News, fifty anime series are going to premier in April and that's a record in Japan.Wow. O.o O.O o.O
I'll be trying at least 40 of those 50 series, if not for entertainment, then for reference / educational purposes. Realistically, I'll probably settle on following 25 series (I've been averaging 12 to 18 series per season).
What little I had of my so-called life will shrink even further
I'm really looking forward to Dennou Coil (http://www.tokuma.jp/coil/) mentioned by NeoSam earlier. It won't be out until much later - they're actually advertising for staff to work on that particular show so I guess they haven't gotten anyone yet. Why am I looking forward to it? Because one of the l33test people in the animation industry is entirely behind it (director, script, original idea etc.) He did a very very memorable episode of RahXephon, ep 19 (coincidentially he also did a lot for Eva #19...) I'm excited to see what'll happen now.
I noticed there's like, more stuff on Kiba (http://www.ki-ba.com/) here - OK the character designs look generic and it's all liek teh fantasy-magical-powers stuff, but I don't mind it and HOLY CARP TEH BACKGROUNDS (http://www.ki-ba.com/about/index.html)! Teikoku Shounen's production design looks good. Also, good seiyuu - woohoo, Mizuki Nana as yet another female lead in a shounen magical-fantasy anime, as well as Hiroyuki YOshino (woot), and Shinichiro Miki!
Ok, It has been a while >.< and another anime got announced:
====================
ちょこッとSister
Chokotto Sister
Broadcast: 2006
Its based on a manga thats serialized in the seinen(young men's) manga magazine Young Animal.
For now there are 4 volumes released of this manga, and volume 5 will be released on 28/2/2006 (I'll add its cover to this post once its out), here are the covers:
http://img239.imageshack.us/img239/7363/vol15pp.jpg http://img239.imageshack.us/img239/8941/vol26jx.jpg http://img380.imageshack.us/img380/6690/vol36mk.jpg http://img380.imageshack.us/img380/6494/vol41oz.jpg http://img504.imageshack.us/img504/7448/vol55vj.jpg
From Kotonoha (http://kotonoha.monkey-pirate.com/) group:
On a certain Christmas day, college student Haruma received a "little sister" as present from Miss Santa (verbatim). Haruma, who knew nothing about the girl, gave her the name "Choko." Just like a dream, a new life began for both of them.
Genre: Seinen, Comedy, Romance
Author: ZAPPA Go
Artist: TAKEUCHI Sakura
As of now the manga is not licensed: Manganews (http://www.manganews.net/seriesinfo.php?id=1635).

The site of Chokotto Sister which I mentioned in my previous post just got opened:
http://www.chocosis.com/
And an update on the broadcast date: Summer 2006
OMG They finally made it. A harem anime that makes sense.
OMG They finally made it. A harem anime that makes sense.
Which one?
From Newtype JP March - Garakan, new anime from Gonzo (possibly airing 01/04/06). Character designs by the very talented Okama (http://okama.nicomi.com/). Looks like a fantasy adventure type series. Website here (http://www.garakan.com/).
Cool, it's Gonzo x Satelight. The eye candy will definitely be there, at least in terms of effects and photography. As for animation I hope it's not the Hellsing Ultimate Satelight but more like the Arjuna Satelight or Noein Satelight... I guess the designs would be nice.
But I'm worried the story will suck like shit because the guy who did the series composition for UPS is behind this. Gosh if this is going to have contrived and stupid plots like that show then I'm not watching it.
Cool, it's Gonzo x Satelight. The eye candy will definitely be there, at least in terms of effects and photography.
I dearly hope the animation become Last Exile-esque good.

More 'Noein Satelight' would be most welcome, especially in the battle sequences. Also I can't remember where I saw (or read more likely) but Okama replaced Range Murata as the concept artist on this show. I may be mistaken though....
This and Kiba are the only shows this coming season that seem even remotely interesting. A welcome tonic to the loli, ecchi, harem crap that seems to be flooding the marketplace /rant...
Another anime got announced:

Well not like I'm watching it either way...

I couldn't find mention in this thread, so here goes:
"Spider Riders" is a co-production of Bee Train and a Canadian children's television company (no, not Nelvana!) which, according to Moonphase, starts airing in Japan on April 5th. On March 25th, Teletoon Canada will air a 90-minute special, and start airing the series "later in the summer".
Here's some clips on the Teletoon site: http://www.teletoon.com/unrealworld_v2/teletoon.php?language=En&user=0&init=shortcut&func=tvSpecialsVip
The dub and the music are very westernized, which I guess is to be expected. The show is aimed at the young male demographic (what a surprise). The story was written by a pair of veteran Disney cartoon writers, and the dub kind of looks like that script was translated to Japanese, then re-translated back to English to fit the mouth flaps. :heh:
I haven't been able to find any information about whether or not the music will be different in the Japanese version or not; if it's in that Moonphase blurb, Bablefish didn't help me with it. :p
I think the animation looks like it might be pretty good, but then again, I'm biased. :D
