You gotta hand it to the old girl: At 42 years old, most voice actresses would be playing mothers, aunts and teachers by now, and yet she is STILL able to play a cute 18 year old and sound convincing. And this is after a decade stint of playing Moms (Sonomi from Card Captor Sakura ) and Middle-Aged Hussies (Fuyumi of Saikano. )

They're not so old. Heck, I'm older than all of them (although not a lot older. :)

Someone on the AMG forum (I believe it was here, before the great hack) once said Inoue Kikuko was too old to play Belldandy and the role should have been recasted. Needless to say, the idea didn't go over well. I think she'll still have the voice of the goddess at 50. It's a real signature role, and I hope she continues to play it for a long time. She was the first voice actress I recognized from role to role. I liked her as Kasumi, but she became Belldandy as soon as she popped out of the mirror.

Having said that, apparently her nickname is Oneesan, and I read that she has claimed at fan events that she is 17. :)

Itou Miki is doing great job with Asa, and I'm happy they went with an experienced actress. It's a tricky role, I think. Asa is an unusual character. She's very bold, and yet she's a bit conservative about certain things, which is why I thought she would be a good match for Rin. She hits Rin almost every time she sees him, she's headstrong, she's his sempai and a shameless flirt. As we discussed before, she's in many ways the girl who doesn't get the lead guy. The creators of the series chose her route, and from the look of the polls, they made the right pick. Itou Miki has done a lot to sell the character. Much of Asa's incredible charm comes from that voice.

Okay... sounds like we're labeling things here without considering the cultural context .... the slap is neither "boyish" or "girlish" ... but I suppose the traditionalist might view her forward/aggessive behavior as "boyish" and the backslap symbolizes that.

A good deal of anime inhabits some past tense "nostalgic" realm more akin to the 1950s than now .... really stupid of the guys since it leaves all those cute independent ladies unattached.

And "tomboy" is an outdated term from my youth... and no it didn't mean the girl dressed like a guy blah blah blah.... it just meant she played with the guys and didn't mind a bit of rough and tumble.... several of my childhood friends were "tomboys" who grew up to be quite lovely independent women. "Tomboy" hasn't been considered a negative word in 20 or more years.... if it is used at all (almost archaic) it just means the young lady isn't a girly-girl-worthless piece of eyecandy.

He did his best to try to make everyone happy, I like him alot more than other male lead characters, unlike them, he's not a wimp.. In the end, no apologies needed to be made.. he had no obligation to love anyone but the one whom he chose to love.

But, I can understand your feelings about this guy, jealousy is normal for those that wish to be with someone, when they are with someone else.. it is human.

One of the things that made me love Asa-sempai all the more, is that she always stayed out of Rin's way whenever he got close to another girl. She loved him, but she loved him so much that his happiness meant more to her than even her own feelings..

It's feelings like that, that for a split second let me imagine something amazing. The pure possibly of the concept of absolute love. Love beyond human limitations, beyond the pettiness that mars our imperfect world. :p

And I love Asa-sempai so much, that the thought of her suffering any pain, the thought of trying to "possess" her, all of those tainted things.. they.. disgust me!

What a novel idea ya? I personally like Asa because of that certain energy for life she has. Atleast when she's not depressed over Rin. Out of all of the girls, remember I'm still at a very early stage in the series, she seems to be the most normal. Ok so maybe shooving his head down there is a bit not normal but her feelings are pretty transparent but still trys to hide them. That "feminine" side is a nice contrast to her typically loud nature. Plus her reason for falling in love with Rin seem just sits better with me more than the other girls. Her closeness/comfort level with Rin also reminds me of a good old friend of mine. I guess you can say I'll always root for the middle school love.

??? what happened after I posted? Anyawy I just finished watching episodes 14-19 and holy crap this series took a turn for the better. Kaede is really showing some signs of life after being neglected for so many episodes. Psycho girls are so cool. Asa is still number one though. I particularly liked the Cupid Land episode. The suspense is really tiring me out but alas I must study thermodynamics.....

Rule 1: the sig can not be any larger than 400 by 200.
2: no nude pics ok, the last thing we need to have is this thread being closed for breaking the rules.
3: any pic of Asa will do. Game pic, anime pic, long haired, or short haired.
4. Make the sig look as cool as possible. Gif sigs are acceptable.
5. Asa and Rin pics are also acceptable but with any other girl would defeat the purpose. Ama is acceptable also. But make sure that Asa is the main focus.
6. NO DEATH SCENES! That includs you Rin haters.
7. No bad language.
8: all enteries are posted here in the AAA Club.

PRIZES!:
the 1st place winner will recive a SHUFFLE! Song from me! (I only have 3 so....)

Asa was really cool until the last few episodes when she started falling sick all the time. Actually from the first time she fell sick she began to drop in my eyes. I loved her flirtatious personality though, very cool
