Well, you talk about really girly stuff, but the titles you mentioned were both shounen romance-comedy titles. So that is what I will focus on:

Ai Yori Aoshi(licensed)
Onegai Teacher(licensed)
Onegai Twins(unlicensed)
Tenchi Muyo! OVA's(mostly licensed)
Tenshi na Konimaiki(unlicensed)

If you really want to give some shoujo a try here are some other picks:

Full Moon wo Sagashite(unlicensed)
Fruits Basket(licensed)

0_o; I dont find Chobits Or Love Hina girly...those shows are obviously for guys.

But if u really want girly then, Mermaid Melody and Full Moon.

PS: if u want a licensed rec. - card captor sakura (subtitled)

Where is the obligatory Princess Tutu recommendation?

Ok here it comes. Watch Princess Tutu! It's girly as hell. Wouldn't call it fruity though but it should be funny and cute enough for you.

yea, people already mentioned this, but love hina and chobits really aren't girlie at all. they are DEFINITELY aimed at guys.

if you want girlie titles that are so sickengly sweet you want to vomit, check out (as people already mentioned)

Bottle Fairy
Tiny Snow Fairy Sugar
Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch!

Fushigi Yuugi is another vomitous one that has extremely cheesy love story and WAY too many sappy moments.

i'd disagree with Fruits Basket being really girlie. back when it was being fansubbed and first released, it was many guys' favorite series as well. its a hilarious comedy.

Third or Fourth or whatever numbered agreement that Love Hina and Chobits are boy fantasy things...

New:
Princess Tutu
Ask Dr. Rin
Nanaka 6/17
DN Angel

Old:
Card Captor Sakura
Sailor Moon
Saint Tail
Fancy Lala

With Boob scenes and such more on par with Love Hina:
Tenchi Muyo (really good series though, at least the initial part)
Ai Yori Aoshi

I really really have to disagree about that last comment for Fushigi Yuugi. Yes, Fruits Baskets was liked by a lot of guys and may have been some guy's favorites, but you know, Fushigi Yuugi was is also liked by a lot of guys and for some guy's, is their continuing favorite over the years. So by the argument for FB, then FY is also not a girlie series.
It is Shoujo, yes, but it is one of those rare but really truly wonderful everything animes that has comedy, action, drama, fight scenes, magic, romance, awesome bad guys, great plot and great story buildup.
Though I admit, what romance they had *WAS* extremely sappy. But, an everything anime for everyone...*shrugs*
(For really really good everything anime, watch escaflowne!)

If you take a look at the manga, you'll notice it is obviously shoujo. Not to say a guy can't like shoujo (I like many shoujo series and I'm a boy), but by definition a shoujo series is one who's primary target audience is girls :)

Remember shoujo and shonen are just labels on the primary target audience. There are many boys who like shoujo series and girls who like shonen.

To the original poster:

If you mean you want anime like Chobits and Love Hina, here are some suggestions

Ai Yori Aoshi
Comic Party
Mahoromatic
Tenshi series
Dual
Onegai Teacher
Oh My Goddess! (Is this only a manga?)

If you want 1 step closer to shoujo (but still within shounen bounds) you can try

Maison Ikkoku
Kimagure Orange Road
Touch
Azumanga Diaoh

If you want REAL girl's anime then you can try starting with

Sailor Moon
Card Captor Sakura
Fruits Basket
Full Moon wo Sagashite
Kare Kano No Jijiou
Princess Tutu
Fushigi Yuugi

Mermaid melody and Full moon, both my gf's favourites so they must be girly. :p

Did you mean you have two girlfriends or that your one girlfriend liked both series? :p

Anyway, let me recommend Hana Yori Dango There's a long series and 1 (may be more, ye gods!) movie. It's very girly and is all about romance, etc. Has some funny moments.

Hm... adding to the argument...

Fruits Basket is definitely fairly girly, but a guy could definitely like it too. Fushigi Yuuhi... lots of sappy stuff, but also some hentai guyish stuff in there too...

and Hana Yori Dango, definitely meant for girls! It's a soap opera, after all!

the two I find girly without being irritating are Cardcaptor Sakura and Kodomo no Omocha. Both are girly while still having a decent plot and some meaning. :)

(Oh by the way I haven't seen most of the other suggestions so nothing against most of them.)

I feel for some fruity anime. Anything out there? I need some suggestions

Just need to give me something more cute funny kinda thing

Kinda like Chobits or Love Hina.

I'm sorry, as much as I love Chobits, I think if you think about it... it's totally for guys as well as girls. The cuteness of character will capture the female audience, but think about the story line...

Some loser geek from the country side found a beautiful human-like walking, talking mechanic who became his companion/ love. She greets him when he gets home, works to buy him grocery, makes him dinner... every guy's fantasy, no? Don't even get me started on Love Hina. What is up with storylines of loser (but nice) guys ending up either living with one or more beautiful girls or (in Ah My Goddess's case) having a goddess as a girlfriend? Are they in that desparate of need for poetic justice? I think there is a conspiracy to make it look like a series for girls so we can all be brainwashed to scope out the less popular/good looking guys with a big heart and great personality (oh wait, I'm engaged to one, so I guess it worked. haha!!)

Anyway, this is a half joking post, don't flame or get mad at me... I'm just trying to point the recurring themes out. Also, as funny as the boys "accidentally" falling onto the private parts of female, then getting their butts kicked as it is the first couple of times... it gets quite old. *sigh*

I don't know if "Fruits Basket" has been licensed yet... but check out that series... now *that's* a girl's series... it's about kindess and friendship and stuff with some magical themes.

Actually in Chobits, it's only ever Hideki that freaks out when he does something vaugly sexual, like posses porn. I thought that was very funny, that everyone else was so mellow.

The Fruits Baket manga was recently aquired by TokyoPop and the first volume is set to come out in Febuary. The anime was released by Funimation a while ago, and they did a good job, too.

Ranma (mixed with martial arts and major comedy but a bit old)
Fruits basket (I don't think it's too girlie)

wow, what a list... I know most of these (there are only 3 I have never seen). Miracle Girls is an older one, it is not bad.

Magical Angel Creamy Mami is another old one, livE-Evil is still subbing it... there is still a torrents page here for it. Ultra Maniac is a recent Magical Girl show, torrents are/were available here for that one too.

It is too bad that Shoujo and Mahou Shoujo are so rare nowadays.

I agree with Hana Yori Dango, so far what I've seen is directed towards girls interests mainly. Fushigi Yuugi is another and if you've seen that and liked it try Ceres. It's a little less sappy/girly, but still the type of thing that appeals more to girls.

I've always thought Escaflowne (already released in the states) has feminine appeal without so much mush.

Both Lamune and REC qualify as "just as female-watchable as for guys" (romances).

Now that I think about it, I don't even know what "girly anime" means .... it stopped being 1950 a long time ago. Sounds like something my great grandfather would say...
Fruity ... wtf does that mean (gay, melodramatic, flowery, smelly)? I think some young males are a bit confused or misinformed about labels ... my other possible opinions are less flattering.

2006-08-08, 20:55
I only watched the first ep of Strawberry Panic..I thought it was OK, but the animation and character designs were so average I just had to pass...Did the animation ever get really good...

As for my girly girl favs I'd go with Gunslinger Girl, nothing says loving like teenage girl cyborg assasins talking about their period....Also Powerpuff girls Z, yeah it's crap but if you saw the US version it's good crap...The Japanese version is a little cooler, less funnier but it has cute little transforming girls...However I wouldn't want someone to walk in on me watching their transformation scenes as they may misconstrue the situation :uhoh:...

Let's see...cute funny..

Try This Ugly and Beautiful World. I liked this series a lot, has ecchi-ness and main girl char. sorta reminds me of chii

Another incredibly cute one would be Pita Ten, but I guess by Chobits and Love Hina you want some ecchi-ish type.

Sugarita
2006-08-20, 15:02
