Not yet. Alastor is still slept in Shana's body as she still didn't use Tenpa Yousai. And SoF is in process to get his real form while Yuji buys some time... Or that's what I undestand.

Only SoF true form is out Alastor is still in a hibernate state inside Shana.

This guides me to the feeling that if Alastor gets summoned, and gets killed by SoF or both die in a "god's battle", then what's left for Shana? Became a torche, dissapear or go back to human with her remaining existence?

Remember anything about what happened to Alastor's previous Flame Haze Mathilde? Mathilde used Tenpa Jousai to defeat the forces of the Crimson Realm. But the result of this victory was that Mathilde perished. So that was why all the worries went around in season 1 when Shana was going to use Tenpa Jousai on the Well of Eternity.

Alastor uses Shana as a vessel, so the same results would happen to Shana as to if you kill SoF that carries the form of Yuji, so the only way to kill SoF without killing Yuji would be to somehow separate the two.

Edit: But that has never personally happened, or atleast from the info that I heard about. Where a Lord of the Crimson Realm died, and the after-effects on the Flame Haze's body. So many things can happen from your perspective SkyFlames.

As I know, if the Crimson Lord is separated from the Flame Haze, his full power is released into the vessel and if it can stand it, just explotes and the Lord will come back to the Crimson World. That's stated in SnS Volume 1.

But which we got here are two special cases, because we already know that Shana can stand the Alastor's power, and that Yuji got a pretty strong resistance in this aspect as well, as SoF true form woke up and he is still in one piece. Now we can say that both, Yuji and Shana, are exactly the same kind of being. Whatever that could happen to one of them would happen to the other one.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Shana never used Tenpa Yousai in the novels, right? She only got his power released when Friagne shot her with the Trigger Happy. So we don't actually know which are the secondary effects of using such a spell. In fact, the only one that have used it so far was Mathilde, which dissapeared shortly after because she could not stand so much power, but now Shana can actually support it.

Of course Season One's ending was original, in the novels Shana never really used Tenpa Jousai. So we don't even know if Shana is able to use it without the fear of ending like her predecessor. The only time we got to see Tenpa Jousai in full use was during the Great War where Mathilde used it to stop Asiz and his "City Devourer". (Please correct me Flere821, I'm going purely from my intel)

That's because his true form is separate from Yuji still, I haven't gotten that much info about how the true form works. But SnH can function his true body while staying inside Yuji's body so it seems like they are separated in all terms. But I like the question though SkyFlames :p Of course this info is just straight out of my head since I don't have the details. So please, if anyone knows how the main body, and the true form works, then do enlighten us.

Basically after SoF got his main body Yuji just became his mouthpiece to pass on orders. Right now even if Yuji gets killed off SoF won't just disappear. Yuji still have access to some of the powers that SoF have though, but it could just be left over from the time when SoF was in Yuji.

So now is the part of the serie where we see if Snake's intentions are really so innocent of we are missing the "hahaha now the world is mine *evil smile*" cliche part that we have seen so many times. Wondering if he still cares about Yuji's sake or is just a spendable being now.

By the way, since SoF is realeased finally, why is Yuji still fighting? Can't a God defend himselft from a Flame Haze?

There wouldn't be a point to waste SoF's energy on it. Although it wold be much to use.
Either way, he isn't fully powered up yet from what I understand. SoF is like at 85% or something. So Yuji is buying time for SoF to get fully powered just in case Alastor shows up.

Right...Anime original ending...So basically because of the Anime original ending, it has screwed up how Shana novel may have ended. Once again, blame the anime originals!:(

Hi, I will be here for some time... or a lot of time. So you guys can tell me what ye are talking about? I'm kinda guessing that about Alastor's appereance in some novel :heh: My english isn't too good since I'm from Poland, but we should handle that, shouldn't we? ...you can call me a stalker, cause I've been watching this thread for quite a lot of time :heh: But, don't let me change the subject.

Edit: Well, if I were to catch J.C. Staff planning an Anime Original ending, then... Well, you wouldn't want to know. But seriously, I would go rough on them like Yuji bet up Shana.

Welcome to the thread Kaskodiona, if you wish to be up to subject on what we currently know of the novels and how things are going about. You can ask any of the members on here on what they know of the novels, we're currently discussing the fact that Season 1 and Season 2's endings were Anime Original which meant they were never part of the novels. After watching Season 1 we all thought Shana was able to use Tenpa Jousai to summon Alastor, but after a quick search, I had bad news to say she never summoned Alastor so we don't know if she is able to use it with how the battles in the novels are going so far. So I practically ruined many possible endings people had for the novels.

That is what we were discussing, there is also.

The new villain of the Shakugan no Shana novels known as Snake of the Festival (aka Ceremonial Snake, aka SnH, aka SoF, aka SotF) who controls Yuji's body, but not like mind controlling... Well he did when he wanted to get Yuji to go somewhere else when he was deciding who he wanted to be with (aka Season 2's ending with Shana and Kazumi waiting at different places for Yuji to show up) SotF had a true form that was sealed away long ago by Alastor who had to combine the powers of other Flame Hazes in order to trap Snake's true form in a alternative dimension where no matter how strong he was (he was really strong back then) he would not be able to break free. But after a brawl with Bal Masque (who now serve under Snake since they see him as their ideal god) and the Flame Hazes. Shana, and some other Flame Hazes went to try to stop Yuji before he released his true form. But it was too late and the Flame Hazes had to retreat that battle out of fear of Snake's true body loose.

SkyFlames is currently wondering why would Yuji still serve Snake if he has his true form, or why Snake would still bother with Yuji. So that's what we are discussing :heh:

This is from my personal opinion. Also thanks to OmniDragon for reminding me of this scene.

SoF din't just kill Shana when he captured her because of fear she would go with a blitz of using Alastor who is indeed known as the "God of Punishment" (or was it another thing?) and is apparently the only one that can kill other gods. So as long as Shana is too busy fighting Yuji who she is trying to convince to come back to her side, then SoF is practically invincible when fighting Shana. That's until Shana either finally makes the choice of sacrificing Yuji to save the two worlds from Snake's plans, or if Shana is actually able to get Yuji free of his control.

Alastor names himselft as the "God of Heavenly Judge" on Volume 16, so if SoF is afraid of him he is surelly giving a last use to Yuji by letting him handle Shana, so if he fails, we can suppose that Snake will make a full power fall on Shana in an attempt to fast kill and don't allow her to use Tenpa Yousai.

That also raises the question on why Alastor din't just merely kill Snake instead of trapping him in an alternative dimension. Maybe Snake is trying to achieve full power like you and Blutsauger are speculating, and once he reaches full power. He will no longer need Yuji and merely throw him away.

Didn't Alastor just refused to participate in the battle against SoF? Ohh but he did asisted to the sealing ceremony... Yeah, it's indeed odd...

So here it is.

After Christmas Eve, everyone seems to have forgotten Yuji, just like when a Torch disappears. Shana is concerned about this and misses Yuji.

Refresher: Yuji chooses Shana in Christmas Eve, but he is also confronted by the Snake of the Festival. This Crimson God allows Yuji to use his powers, however, Yuji has to merge with Snake of the Festival. Yuji sees this as the perfect opportunity to save Shana from the natural conflict between Flame Haze and Crimson Denizens, and agrees. The "footsteps in the snow" in Second Episode 24 is Yuji's.

Meanwhile, Yuji – as the leader of the Crimson Denizen organization Bal Masque – sent his henchmen to Shanghai in the first of many campaigns to eradicate the Flame Haze in key cities around the world. After that campaign, he spends some time with Hecate and Bel Peol (damn that lucky bastard). Yuji then comes back to Misaki City and reminisces his good times with his family, friends and Shana.

Upon his return, he meets Shana (who followed his presence) on the bridge; Shana notices that his presence is now that of a Denizen's. Margery and Wilhelmina arrive as well. Yuji soon declares that he is now the “Snake of festival” Sakai Yuji and a fight broke out (they think Yuji is being mind controlled).

Yuji fights Shana alone, while he sends silver to take care of Margery and Wilhelmina. In the middle of the fight, Yuji assures Shana that he is not being controlled by anybody and that he is still Sakai Yuji. He also reveals the truth behind "The Silver" which sent Margery into a state of chaos. Margery lost the will to live, and then she loses the contract with Marchosias.

Yuji tells Shana that he wanted to live with her forever and that he wanted to change the "truth of the world" for her, so she need not to fight anymore. However, Shana – as a Flame Haze who fights Crimson Denizens – vows to cut Yuji down herself. Yuji beats Shana to near-death and dragged her blood bathed body to the Noda Department Store to retrieve the Haridan where he finds Yoshida and Eita.

After telling Yoshida that he only wanted Shana, Yuji took the now unconscious Shana back to his lair in the Seireiden along with the Haridan.

Shana wakes up from another nightmare of hopelessly fighting against Yuji.

She has been locked up inside one of the luxurious bedrooms of Seireiden for days now, devoid of her powers thanks to a bracelet put on her wrist (probably the Tartaros) and stripped of her gear (Nietono no Shana and the Yogasa). And most importantly she is without Alastor.

She is alone, as truly alone as she ever had been. She knows that this is no dream; this is as real as they get.

In China, 100 miles west of Shanghai, in a place of serene beauty, an army gathers. An army of Crimson Denizens of untold numbers ranging from all sizes and shapes stood with parade-like stillness before a lake as their general Sydonay stood and watched the sky. Shortly, the ominous shape of their sky fortress arrived.

Yuji comes to greet Sydonay, though not before putting on a little show for the troops as he descended from the heavens: turning the sky's color into silver and shrouding the ground in a blanket of dark flame. Sydonay threw his Shintetsu Nyoi at Yuji to test him. The spear ends up looking like a sculpture of a twisted snake as it hit the ground seconds later. Then with Bel Peol and Sydonay, the group conducted the planning of their next step against the Flame Haze survivors of China.

It seems that the remaining Flame Haze of China have rallied and gathered in a fortified position easily defended. Their numbers and those among the survivors pose a threat to the future operations of Bal Masque. Bel Peol suggests that they be taken care of as soon as possible. (Several new members of Bal Masque were introduced at this point.)

Eventually the scene shifts and it’s a conversation between Sydonay and Bel Peol and their thoughts on their newly returned lord. They mention that they did not foresee their lord returning in such a fashion. While their plans are moving forward but several factors are already changed, neither of them likes the idea of a Flame Haze aboard. They soon began to wonder whether Yuji's memory is having too much of an impact on Snake of the Festival's behaviors.

Eventually the two found Hecate on the roof balcony of Seireiden hovering over the railing looking down upon the scenery before her with a smile on her face. Bel Peol comments how in any case “their cute Hecate” is the only one without any complaint and it has become quite common to see her smile lately.

Just then, the group was informed by Dantalion that phase two of the preparations have been completed and is awaiting the word to began. Hecate comments that whatever happens from now on and whatever stands in her way and Bal Masque she would conqueror all. A dark shadow passed over her face.

Shana begins to sink deeper and deeper into lethargy. Solitude has been something she can't take too well, with all her bad memories coming back to haunt her. She has a few maids that Yuji instructed to tend to her need but she generally ignores them.

Yuji eventually came to visit her since he and Alastor are worried that she might hurt herself again. (Though she cut her wrist not out of suicide. She tried to use a decorative sword hanging on the wall and her own weight to break the bracelet sealing her powers. Needless to say that didn't turn out so well and the timely arrival of her servants saved her life). Alastor, at any rate, has decided to stay with Yuji a little longer to learn more about his old adversary. The process is completely voluntary as Alastor can return to Shana at any time if he willed it. But it doesn't make Shana any happier. Yuji tried to approach Shana to see her wound but she resisted and Yuji used more strength than he intended to restrain her and realizing he hurt her he let go was quite shocked with himself.

And then a voice outside of the room reminded Yuji that he had an honored guest and an old friend/accomplice. To Shana’s surprise, it is none other than Lamies the Corpse Retriever, also know to few as the Spiral Organ.

Back at Japan, Wilhelmina contemplates the situation, and is still trying to guess the true nature of Snake of the Festival. Wilhelmina is quite saddened and distraught upon learning the list of the dead Flame Haze from China. Tiamat comments that the impending battle is unavoidable. Another apocalyptic war between Bal Masque and the Flame Hazes are well on its way just like a eternity ago. She deduces that Yuji took Shana away to shield her from the oncoming slaughter and to render one of the few Crimson Lords that’s a threat to him useless for the time being.
Wilhelmina returns home after visiting the house of Chigusa. It turns out to be a sad experience since Chigusa no longer have memories of her son Yuji nor of Shana, yet she still treats Wilhelmina the same way as usual.

Wilhelmina have been organizing an operation to rescue Shana and have been sending letters to her friends across the globe asking for aid, but most turned her offer down. She is not surprised as she has been staying on the Tendoukyuu for far too long before this that it created a unfortunate distance with their friendship in that none are willing to offer Wilhelmina assistance especially in a trying time when the Bal Masque is on the move. And those that are probably willing to offer aid now are dead. Margery is in no better shape, in the greater scheme of things she is as good as dead, a Flame Haze without a purpose to fight or to live… a husk of her once powerful and confident self. In the end, Wilhelmina decided that she has no choice but to attempt the rescue on her own she gets ready to leave her apartment having trouble finding her backpack not realizing its already on her back. Before she leaves she wonders aloud whether Chigusa’s baby is a girl or boy and that she wishes them the best of luck.

Now I got a better picture of what happened to Shana after being kindanapped by Yuji. The images from the novel certanly matches the story,

The black dress is something Yuji gave to her to wear to the ceremony, you'll notice it has the same colors as his outfit. After Shana put it on Yuji did say that Shana looked good in the dress.

The battle in Volume XVI was incredibly long wasn't it. I'm guessing it must have been if that's all that happened in the novel.
Volume XVII has a LOT more story then XVI. Does it say how Yoshida Kazumi took Yuji's full on rejection? It must have been pretty hard for her. Unless she understood the situation completely. But she still loves/d him. Will there be another Summary of the next Volumes please? :D

I think it was one chapter or so. Wasn't so long, Yuji introducing himselft as SoF, Alastor's inner thoughs, then Shana trying to scape by jumping on the roofs, slashing swords with Yuji (Blustsauger's effect..), she gets all bloody and wounded and it ends there. I think that Margery and Willhemina were trapped on the Silver Wall by then so Yuji could easily handle Shana while explaining the Silver's origin and then explain his intentions to her

“What if father who is traveling around the world were to be attacked by Crimson Denizens? What if mother were to travel and were also attacked? And in the not so distance future, our classmates

She get's speechless at this phrase.
Then...

“Shana, I guess you'll never submit to me then.”
Amid the explosions, a sigh came.
In pursuit, Shana uttered quietly:
“Shut up.”
“Therefore, the only road left between us, is battle.”
The instant he finished, Yuji slapped his dragon tail on the road, and flipped himself backward.
Shana knew well the properties of this great sword Blutsauger now swung toward her. She dodged the sword in a split second, turned around and shouted:
“Shut up!”
“I will fight, through this road, to be by your side--”
“SHUT UP!”

(he gets an "Urusai, urusai, urusai!" here).

Here's the last part of the summaries.

Sabrac reminisces about a certain Denizen (Mare). Sabrac murmured her name in Volume XV too and vowed to kill a certain Flame Haze who killed her. It has become more evident that Sabrac did have feelings for Mare, which he finally accepts too late.

It is then revealed how Mare and Sabrac first met.
Sabrac saved Mare, who was traveling with the Crimson Denizen group Hyakki Yakou, which was then ambushed by Flame Haze. Mare said that he is like a sword, “the intimidating power sheathed inside the scabbard”. She said she was jealous of him because his power is far greater than her, little and weak Denizens who only control people's dreams while he can kill them whenever he wants.

One day, she said that she will going to seek a certain thing – the Reiji Maigo – to become a great existence like Sabrac. She entrusted her Hystrix to him saying she will take it back when came back with that certain thing. She left him and thus came to Misaki City, where she meets her demise in the hands of Shana.

Meanwhile, Shana did say she loves Yuuji and that she'll beat the Snake of the Festival and rescue him. Then, they fight each other. (Not sure about this one. –Marcus

Margery Daw is soon revived after Keisaku ...um... kissed her. Then he confessed that he loves her and they kissed again. (Well...their age difference is about 1000+ years though. That's acceptable...) (I do not know how the mechanics of a Flame Haze contract exactly work, so I’m puzzled as to how Margery survived. –Marcus)

In XVIII, Shana broke free from Bel-Peol's chain [Tartaros] (which can deny the rules or phenomena as well as Flame Haze abilities) with the help of Tenmoku Ikko, who re-materialized from Nietono no Shana which was taken when she was captured. Shana, learns new Unrestricted Spells by realizing the true strength and form of Alastor: [Shinku] (True Crimson), [Hien] (Soaring Flame), [Shinban] (Judgment) and [Danzai] (Conviction). She then regroups with Wilhelmina Carmel, Rebecca Reed and Khamsin inside [Seireiden]. Together, they traveled through the gate leading to [Keidou] (Path of Pilgrimage), the dimension where the real body of Snake of the Festival was sealed by ancient Flame Haze long time ago.

Since XVIII, most of the Seireiden's army were attacking many places in the world under the command of Decarabia, the Crimson Lord with the shape of giant and long scaled-fish, who uses an Unrestricted Spell known as [Providence] to command all of them in an instant.

About Decarabia…
[Providence] is activated as Decarabia scatters his scales and attached them to anything. From those scales, he could see , hear and even cast Unrestricted Spell from those scales wherever they were and the time limit of this overwhelming spell is...unknown or very, very long; because his true name is Byoubyouri or translated as “Officer of Boundless Sea”.

Unfortunately for the Crimson Denizens, after Khamsin incapacitated Crypta, the shield protecting Seireiden (and in Tendoukyuu too), from inside the fortress. Also, due to Tenmoku Ikko’s rampage inside Seireiden and attacks against Fecor, the defenses made by [Magnesia], his Unrestricted Spell of absolute protection, disappeared. Some of Crimson Lords were ordered to come back to help protect Seireiden because The Snake, the Trinity, Professor and Sabrac went inside Keidou.

The one who came back first (with the help from Stolas, a Denizen that uses instant transporting unrestricted spell named [Prozzesion]) was Haborym, a Crimson Lord who use an Unrestricted Spell named [Keiryougen] (Field of Shining Blaze) which harden his ally's physical and flame power.

Shana's group went inside Keidou and were confronted by Sabrac. Wilhelmina, Rebecca and Khamsin attacked him but are unaware that Sabrac's unrestricted spell, [Stigma], was redesigned. Now named [Stigmata], this spell creates worse effects than the previous one; it can control the size of wounds.

Shana moved forward to face Yuuji. But before she reached him the body of snake had been awakened. A figure of a giant snake began moving toward the gate of Keidou to return to Earth.

The battle began in somewhere of China. Seireiden fell down. Tomogaras were forced to protect themselves from the Flame Haze Army. In the battle's climax, Sophie Sawallisch (old nun), the great commander of Flame Hazes' side use her signature drop-kick (she used this many times, killing Ullikimmi in X, Nitika in Zoetrope.) to destroy the gate of Keidou but this failed because Fecor used his last breath (still not confirmed he did perished or not...) to command his Magnesia to protect the gate that would become the triumph arch Snake of the Festival shall use to return.

In that time, Sabrac, petrified with the giant existence of the true snake, was consumed by that giant snake. Actually, he could survive but chose to stay as that, but he declines Bel-Peol's help with her chain. He cuts the chain (which could protect him from the snake's true body) wrapped around his wrist and let himself devour by the snake. He talked to himself that he now knew what Mare felt when she was with him, a Denizen with far more power than herself.

At the end of the story, Snake reached Earth and Flame Haze losing their will power and under despair while the Denizens cheerfully shouts for the arrival of the God of Creation, Snake of the Festival.

In the epilogue, Sabrac reminisces again about Mare. He said that he now understands the feeling she had for him and thinking about the last words he heard from his "little butterfly” (the nickname he called her) which were:

“I will... definitely become one (a Denizen with an existence as great as him).”

“When that time comes, whatever shape you take.....please watch me, smile for me and welcome me.”

Sabrac called himself and Mare both idiots.

He, who until now realize nothing.
She, who fought to seek power in order to stand beside him and died.

I'm not angry that you did unnecessary things to me.
Also, I'm not feeling bitter because that you're small.
Therefore, please smile… beloved butterfly.

When Snake reached the gate, one of the silhouettes of ancient Flame Haze* catches Shana and brought her away from the giant Snake (they were fighting on its back). The Snake/Yuuji and Shana looked at each other for the last time and then they were separated. Yuuji left the gate and arrived Earth.

*Forgot to tell that inside the Keidou, there were silhouettes/shadows of ancient Flame Haze who sacrificed themselves to seal Snake of the Festival. Up until now they were still overlooking this dimension, although the Snake ultimately managed to find his true body.

Shana and Wilhelmina's group, rescued by 4 silhouettes, landed down on the edge of Keidou in front of the gate. Silhouettes took human form. Each one has their own pale color of flames. The ancient ones touched and gently pushed their backs instead of using words. Knowing that they now bore the mission to follow the Snake, Shana's group watches the silhouettes that couldn't leave the dimension. They couldn't do something else besides seeing them off. Khamsin, who seems to know them back when they were still alive, did an old-style...some kind of farewell (novel didn't explain what kind of interaction it was) which they answered back by the same style. Then, they were sent back to Earth.

The last part of novel depicted the arrival of the giant Snake and Flame Hazes' despair, so not much about the outcome of Shana & Yuuji's fight. The epilogue is about Sabrac x Mare.

Now, we just need the summaries for XX and XXI: Centerhill's death and the reunion of the remaining Three Gods of the Earth.

Is it possible that Yuuji is a variant of Yandere? Like "I'll kill everyone so I can be with Shana". The only reason why he isn't considered as one might be that he seems like a 'good' guy, and that his wish can bring hapiness to others, but...

I've never thought about Yuji as a Yandere o.o... I used to just think he was your average-kind-boy that got tempted by a Crimson Lord into changing the fabrics of how the two worlds work in order to create happiness to everyone (especially the Tomogaras) so they can all live peacefully with no more conflicts, all for the sake of protecting Shana. But killing everyone in his way in order to obtain this goal does seem sorta fanatical...

I think he isn't complete a yandere yet because he still got good and reasonable goals, in other words he hasn't gone crazy. In fact, the persons that Yuji is somehow taking to death by this war are just Tomogaras (non-humans) and Flame Hazes (bloodthirsty persons that only look for revenge, non-humans too), so here is where he is "right", since he only kills the ones that put the humans(somehow the only innocents) in their own conflict. And the only other innocent person in this is Shana (defined as the only Flame Haze that hasn't accepted that "way" looking for revenge)is safe on his hands, since Yuji won't kill her even if he wins. But I think he will get on shock if Kazumi dyes, because will be strickly his fault and she is only a human that never participated in that war in any way. This would be the Yuji's "snap out", something like "I've became a monster". Of course, he still can take it as a "needed sacrifice" to be with Shana.

I'll add to the bit about Margery Daw: Her contract was on the verge of disappearing with Marcosius, as she was beginning to lose her reason to fight (revenge). Before she completely lost it and severed the contract she went catatonic, and eventually woke up with Keisaku by her side. She found a new reason to fight apart from revenge, and Keisaku basically said he will do all he can to help Margery fight.

Depends. It depends what will happen in the last volume to decide whether he is a Yandere. At the moment you could describe him as a variant. His goal is to help SnH to create the new world where Tomogara and Flame Hazes can live in peace. If SnH were to be lying to Yuji all this time then I believe Yuji would snap out of it rather than pursue a worthless, unreachable dream like Friagne and his doll, Marian. :heh:

Actually Anime Originals sometimes are a complete fail (ZnT: Princess no Rondo) but sometimes are really emotional and gets on you more than the novel one, a simple and common example, Toradora!, one of my top ten anime finales that will always be one of the most filled with emotions endings. I trust pretty much that J.C.Staff won't screw up with Shana right now, the simple reason that is their little gold mine, I think in some crazy way that they tryed out with other animes as Zero no Tsukaima the use of the fan service to do not screw up their principal anime, aka Shakugan no Shana. Now that they know how devastating can a Original Anime plot, I GUESS that they aren't enough stupid to fail in the same two times.....

But Shakugan no Shana S' final preview in episode 4 gave me "some" hope they will keep a majority of the novel's plot intact.

Well since J.C. Staff has already dealt a big blow on other Flame Haze's developments in season 2 (where we could have learned more info about them, but season 2 was all about Yuji) so I can assume they are going to cut out anything related to Flame Haze activity and Bal Masque activity and just leave it to gossip or news to tell us quickly. Mostly revolving around Shana, then to Snake's first arrival, then to Yuji, then to Shana, then to Shana again, then to Snake's true form, then so on, so forth.

When they get to the point of introducing other Flame Hazes for the big battles ahead, they will merely just tell their names and we get to see what they do while the battle goes about. No info about their history or anything else sadly, or that's from my predictions.

I think it's fun with all the postulated outcomes for the final volume. I smile at the idea of the author reading this forum for ideas to use (or avoid), especially if the author didn't have one!

So, I'll add my own whacky idea that would definitely be a surprise:

Pheles is a Crimson Lord. She gave a Hogou to Yoshida that will 'summon' Pheles and, in doing so as a human, Yoshida will 'lose her life'. She was to use it if she wanted to 'walk' with Yuji and Shana. What if:
- 'Summon' meant to make a contract with
- 'lose her human life' means to become a Flame Haze
- 'Walking' with Yuji and Shana meant literally as a Flame Haze

I reckon that would be great fun, as it would affect relationships between numerous characters.

That's ... just ... an idea that I never got <.<
But as I know, Pheles is still around earth, and don't you need to be on the Crimson World in order to make a contract with a human? And more important, the Flame Hazes' fuel is the revenge, and I think that Yoshida did it more on a suicide act, not trying to say that she got emo or anything, but since the world is tecnically going to hell, Yuji betrayed her good intentions and she realized that he actually wants to be with Shana and not with her, I think that having a hougu that deletes your existence is pretty much a bad idea if you get in that emotional depresion.

However, she has done alot of extremely focused unwavering meditation; constant pining. With so much pining, guaranteed to be unfulfilled, and dumped on IN WRITING, she may have the perfect reason to drive her as a Flame Haze: To KICK YUJI'S ASS. haha.

But JC isn't so bad I think. The beginning of SnS S2 was screwed up, but still, there are anime more screwed up than what JC did.

And the reason why I dislike Kazumi is natural. Maybe it's because I hate short-brown-hair-timid-girls. But I don't hate long-haired XD.

now the actual summary.
Prologue.
Shana is fighting Yuji and how she is realizing how futile for her to be fighting a true god, much less a god who is Yuji sakai (her everything ). She trires to remind herself her purpose and status as a flame haze and a keeper of balance.
Shana is defeated and as yuji walks towards her, he offers her his hand and as shana is puzzled at the gesture and is at the same time torn between the choice of reaching out and taking his hand or not. as yuji's hand comes closer and closer shana saw nothing but darkness.
Shana then wakes up in a luxurious bedroom. realizing she just had another nightmare again. She has been locked up here for days now. devoid of her powers thanks to a bracelet put on her wrist and striped of her gear(her katana and trenchcoat). And most importantly she is without Alastor. She is alone, as truly alone as she ever had been. She knows that this is no dream, this is as real as they get.

the main story
In China 100 miles west of Shanghai, in a place of serene beauty. An army gathered. An army of Denizens of the Crimson Realm of untold numbers ranging from all sizes and shapes stood with parade like stillness before a lake as their general Sydonay stood and watched the sky. Shortly the ominous shape of their sky fortress arrived. SnH yuji came to greet Sydonay though not before putting on a little show for the troops as he descended from the heavens.:) Turning the sky's color silver and shrouding the ground in a blanket of dark flame. Sydonay threw his Shintetu Nyoi at Yuji to test him. The spear ended up looking like a sculpture of a twisted snake as it hit the ground seconds later.
Then with Bel-pol and sydonay the group conducted the planning of their next step against the flame haze survivors of China. ( here is a part of the story from vol 16 that i figure i should include here since its rather sad and adds more to the story and the universe of SnS)
In the last volume sydonay lead a blitzkrieg campaign aimed at destabilizing the command structure of the flame haze branch at china. Slaughtering every single flame haze residing in shanghai and also finding and eliminate the strongest flame haze in China, a girl(虞轩 i don't know how to pronounce this) called the 剑花挥舞者(Dancing sword flower) contracted to the crimson lord 帝鸿(one of the ancestral god/goddess for the origins of the Chinese people.) and her human servant. The attack of bal masque came as a surprise the numbers they used in this attack was far too great as numerous as the flame hazes in shanghai they were simply too outnumbered. The old manservant 项辛 advised 虞轩 to escape shanghai and attempt to regroup the rest of the flame hazes under her command .However As the two tried to escape through the underground tunnels of their headquarter building they found their path blocked by collapsed tunnels. With no way out but the way they came from. The old man tells 虞轩 to leave him here and go as he would only burden her, lessening her chance to break through and escape the besieged city. The old man commenting on how he enjoyed and does not regret having spent the last 60 years following 虞轩. A teary eyed 虞轩 remembered their first fateful meeting 60 years ago on the streets of shanghai and the years they shared. 虞轩 turned away not wanting to see the oldman's eyes and knowing whats to come the oldman closed his own eyes and said "don't hold back let them have it." The girl smiled sadly and in a flash spun around ,her holy sword drawn and beheaded the old man in one smooth motion. It was the least she could do , a living servant of the flame hazes would be devoured without mercy by her enemies, much better that he died by her hand instead, and she would join him soon enough-she had no intention of escaping the city, but would rather go down fighting. Breaking to the surface it was not long till she met their match. The girl and her Crimson lord instantly recognized Sydonay and called him 蚩尤 (Chi-you)( Those who knows ancient chinese mythology should recognize the name instantly) An epic battle ensued, at one point 虞轩 envoked the power of her lord and transformed into a goddess, but in the end the battle ended with sydonay killing 虞轩 and commenting on how her death was sad.....but truly beautiful....

Returning to the story at hand. It seems that the remaining flame haze of china have rallied and gathered in an fortified position easily defended. There numbers and those among the survivors pose a threat the future operations of Bal masque .Bel-pol suggest they be taken care of as soon as possible. Several new members of bal masque were introduced at this point . Eventually the scene shifts and its a conversation between Sydonay and Bel-pol and their thoughts on their newly returned lord. The mentioned that they did not foresee their lord returning in such a fashion. while their plans are moving forward but several factors are already changed . neither of them likes the idea of a flame haze aboard. And began to wonder whether Yuji's memory is having too much of an impact on SnH's behaviors. Eventually the two found Hecate on the roof balcony of Sereiden hovering over the railing looking down upon the scenery before her with a smile on her face. Bel-pol commented how in any case their cute Hecate is the only one without any complaint and it has become quite common to see her smile lately.
Just then the group was informed by the professor that phase two preparation has been completed and is awaiting the word to began. Hecate comments that whatever happens from now on and whatever stands in her way and bal masque she would conqueror all. A dark shadow passed over her face(Yandere Hecate? :p)

the next chapter is pretty much shana sinking deeper and deeper into her emo side. She really can't take being alone too well, all her bad memories coming back to haunt her. Though given her situation i can't blame her . She has a few maid that yuji instructed to tend to her need but she generally ignores them. Yuji eventually came to visit her since he and Alastor are worried that she might hurt herself again. (Though she cut her wrist not out of suicide. She tried to use a a decorative sword hanging on the wall and her own weight to break the bracelet sealing her powers. Needless to say that didn't turn out so well and the timely arrival of her servants saved her life ). Alastor at any rate have decided to stay with yuji a little longer to learn more about his old adversary. The process is completely voluntary as Alastor can return to Shana at any time if he willed it. But it doesn't make shana any happier. Yuji tried to approach shana to see her wound but she resisted and yuji used more strength than he intended to restrain her and realizing he hurt her he let go was quite shocked with him self .
and then a voice outside of the room reminded yuji that he had an honored guest and an old friend/accomplice.
to shana 's surprise it is none other than Rammie the corpse retriever, also know to few as the spiral organ. ( the old dude from season 1 that was devouring all the dying torches).

Back at japan Wilhelmina contemplates the situation. Still trying to guess the true nature of SnH. Wilhelmina is quite saddened and distraught upon learning the list of the dead flame haze from china . (apparently she and 虞轩 and several others were friends but she mentioned 虞轩's name first.) Tiamat comments that the impending battle is unavoidable. Another apocalyptic war between Bal masque and the flame hazes are well on its way just like a eternity ago. She deduce that Yuji took shana away to shield her from the oncoming slaughter and to render one of the few crimson lords thats a threat to him useless for the time being.
Wilhelmina returning home after visting the house of Chigusa. A sad experience since Chigusa no longer have memories of her son yuji nor of shana, yet she still treats Wilhelmina the same way as usual.
Wilhelmina have been organising an operation to rescue shana and have been sending letters to her friends across the globe asking for aid . but most turned her offer down. She is not surprised as she has been staying on the floating island for far too long before this that it created a unfortunate distance with their friendship in that none are willing to offer Wilhelmina assistance especially in a trying time when the bal masque is on the move. And those that are probably willing to offer aid now are dead. Margery is in no better shape, in the greater scheme of things she is as good as dead , a flame haze without a purpose to fight or to live. A husk of her once powerful and confident self. In the end Wilhelmina decided that she has no choice but to attempt the rescue on her own she gets ready to leave her apartment having trouble finding her backpack not realizing its already on her back. Before she leaves she wonders aloud whether Chigusa 's baby is a girl or boy and that she wishes them the best of luck.

Ok that about it from me for now there is alot of stuff left but i need to sleep more be added tommorow......

Must be what the author wanted; someone on which we can blame on. Why did Yuji merge with SotF? Kazumi's influence. Why do Shana and Yuji kill each other? Kazumi's influence. Why does Shana cook that bad? Kazumi's inflence. Why did Shana receive SE (Sex Education)? Kazumi's inflence.

B-T's down. This update goes to Vol 8 Chp 1 when it's up:

These two have been training together everyday, whether it’s training on how to control the ‘Sonzai no Chikara’ at the Sakai’s residence’s rooftop right before midnight, or training physically in the morning at the garden, nothing has changed. Shana continues to eat and play at Yuji’s house, being taken care of by Chigusa in all sorts of ways; this is still the same as before. They’ve been eating breakfast together as well (as yesterday, a Saturday, was a holiday, they had all three meals together). Occasionally, Shana would head into Yuji’s room and bring along heavy books that belong to Yuji’s father Kantaro, who’s alone overseas due to work, and start to read them in a relishing manner, this hasn’t changed.

However, besides the bare minimum of conversation, it can be said that both of them don’t really have much to talk about.

It’s as if there’s an invisible wall between both of them, ending up with them having nothing to say to each other.

Yuji stares at the screen of rain in front and sighs slightly.

Shana seems to realize this, but doesn’t say anything.

However, that’s not due to the cold atmosphere surrounding them.

The place where he’s going to, and what he’s going to do are the real reasons why he’s emotionally low. Thinking about it—

Sakai Yuji isn’t human.

The ‘real Sakai Yuji’ was already attacked by one of the Denizens who attacked this city, having died because his ‘Sonzai no Chikara’ got swallowed. The ‘current Sakai Yuji’ is now a replacement torch that’s created from his remains.

A torch is a tool that’s used to contain the remaining Sonzai no Chikara, which will gradually run out and disappear without anyone knowing.

If a stone is thrown into water, there’ll be a sound of a ripple, and someone will find out. If someone lets a stone slowly sink into the water, the person will unknowingly achieve this. The torch is a that’ll fool the surroundings.

Sakai Yuji is one of them.

Idiot. Either because of coincidence or some other reason, there’s a treasure tool hidden inside his body. It’s the Crimson treasure tool, ‘Reiji Maigo’, which can interfere with time.

It’s unknown where he got that treasure tool from. It has the ability to replenish the ‘Sonzai no Chikara’ at midnight, and it’s a continuous mechanism. Because of this tool, Sakai Yuji won’t vanish, but became a ‘moving treasure stove’ mystes. With his personality and existence still intact, Sakai Yuji is able to continue living on like an ordinary person.

(If, if I could meet everyone yesterday without having to prepare ourselves emotionally…)

However, the fact that he’s the remnant of a deceased person hasn’t changed.

And his friends knew about it.

What happened that day…when a Crimson Lord attacked, his good friends and classmates Keisaku Satou and Eita Tanaka, and Yoshida Kazumi, who he harbored feelings for, found out about this, and he has no capacity to deny this.

Satou and Tanaka have an extraordinary relationship with another Flame Haze, the ‘Interpreter of Condolence’ Margery Daw, so it’s obvious that they’ll meet.

However, Yoshida’s the complete opposite. It was because she was manipulated and made used by another Flame Haze who’s in the city, the ’Mobilizer of Ceremonial Equipment’ Khamsin (At least this is what Yuji thinks).

Sakai Yuji is already dead, and is only a remnant in front of them—the fact that he wouldn’t want his family and friends to know, but yet this is revealed to his closest friends.

At that time, Yuji was really shocked that they discovered the truth, and regretted the choice that he made. Right now, he can clearly feel all the anger in regards to the reality that he’s in now.

However, the rage continues to press forward. The more he forces the issue, the less time he has to be buried under these feelings, and it’s the same for the three friends who knew the truth.

Together with the Flame Hazes, they ran full throttle to prevent the Crimson Lord from achieving what he wanted, and survived. Maybe due to the excitement and relaxation over the moment of victory, everyone calmed down.

After everything was done, everyone tried to think of an excuse to explain to Chigusa why Shana, who went into battle in the yukata, has it all tattered, and created quite the commotion. After a while, without knowing it, each other them walked back home.

But right now—it’s been a day already. There’s enough time for them to ponder about what happened up till now. Yuji’s grudgingly head towards the gathering place where the friends who knew the truth are. They’re there to send of the Flame Haze ’Mobilizer of Ceremonial Equipment’ Khamsin, who’s leaving this city this morning.

(Really, he’s so irritating no matter what the situation is…)

Yuji curses the old Flame Haze who’s about to leave.

“…Uu…”

Beside him, Shana sighs softly.

Sensing this slight realization that the Flame Haze made, Yuji asks, not realizing his own awareness,

“What’s up?”

“Nothing.”

“Really?”

Shana gives a short, simple answer, and became silent.

There’s only the sound of the tiny raindrops hitting the umbrellas continuously, surrounding the two of them.

The only time I liked Yuji's personality in the anime was when he was dealing with two members of Bal Masque that had him in a trapped situation and while he seemed to go along with things, he was devising a plan to stop both of them in their tracks :D

Also to tell the fans, Yuji is a little different then what he was in the anime. He's what you can say more "aggressive" that he actually beated up Wilhelmina quite badly (from what I heard) and there was even an image of him as a total berserker :uhoh:

Well... that was less a case of being 'badass', and more Yuji brought out Blutsauger as a last resort before being killed, overloaded the sword with PoE in panic, and almost killed Wilhemina to try and save his own skin in a desparate move.

Oh, and Shana then proceeded to beat Yuji up for almost killing Wilhemina, to the point he suffered more wounds from Shana than from Wilhemina :heh:

As far as my opinions go, I really prefer his character in the novel better. Mostly because he's smarter and more mature. However, that's not to say that the anime version of him isn't good either. He's just as succsessful and repeatidly shows this in many situations. When he devised a plan to defeat Sabrac even Alastor and I stood dumbfounded.Even though that is not my favorite Yuji/beast mode moment, I think that's when he is most grown. Fans must remember that the novel lets you see into first person which will give you more of an idea on a character. In this case Yuji. BUT.....I honestly like the character design for Yuji in the anime BETTER than the novel. To me novel Yuji has more asian features and looks a lot more serious and old. When in fact, he's a freshman in high school, and is included into a lot of childish or humorous elements. Think about it, would you want Tom Hanks to play Adam Sandler? Although, this is totally opinionated. Also,manga Yuji is hilarious.

My favourite Yuji moment as stated previously? When he had that long conversation with his father on the bridge. About their first son and other important things. I really thought he acted like an adult, and more intelligent than any other character on the show.And no Kazumi is not annoying. Your all just addicted to Shana. lol (Laughs at Shana supporters)

I just figured that Shana took her job as a flame haze more seriously then Wilhelmina and Margery Daw and over time just forgot her name. As you can see, Margery doesn't really care too much and drinks when ever she feels like it and Wilhelmina carries that massive bag for travelling. Not much fighting in comparison to Shana although I completely understand the time difference in the job.

It was basically Yuji's original job to 'humanize" Shana by giving her a name and so on, so forth. But with the recent events, it merely just lead to Shana focusing more on her job as a Flame Haze then all those teachings about being a regular person she got from Yuji and everyone else.

Willhelmina dissapeared for several years till she came back to action (I think?) , as Sydonay states as "the reappearence of Banjo no Shite" when he speaks with the Aizens. Not as Margery that were travelling all over the world looking for the Silver (I guess that she started at Europe as Flame Haze, travelled to America and then to Asia). But Shana were pretty much unknowed to mostly of the Denizens because of her poor time on the job, as she got her powers at Hong Kong and we find her some years later on Japan, I guess that as she didn't got a revenge feeling, she didn't got to hurry to hunt a specefic Tomogara or find someone before the others.
@pankakes: The reason because everyone loves Shana and hates Kazumi (at least for me) it's as simple as to SEE that Yuji is 100 percent in-love with her, but STILL, Yoshida put her nose between them and thinks that still got a chance (as when she followed him on the SoF form), causing nothing but more problems. Still, I see her as an annoying and pointless character but I don't get to the hate point... Yet.

The reason Shana didn't have a name was because she was found as an infant that's family had been devoured. Willhelmina, the one who I'm guessing defeated the devourers,took shana in out of pity. Since the people who named shana, her parents, were killed. Their was no way of passing that name on to Willhelmina. And I'm guessing since Willhelmina is so strict, she seemed it useless to name her. Other Flame Hazes, on the other hand, became Flame Hazes at an older age, and kept their names regardless of their situation.

Well arnt we in a predicament here :heh: the main character limit can go as far as the anime sets it to be. It can be a large main character cast like (Infinite Stratos) where it keeps its focus on multiple characters each episode, but it somewhat hurts the plot. Or it can be a small cast. Animes generally have 2 main characters that usually end up as a couple (Toradora, Clannad) while some have more then the average 2 main characters (Dragon Crisis, Angel Beats) it all depends, but the common main character cast is between the lovers.

Well I can't argue with SkyFlames about that, that would be quite silly to do. But it appears that Kazumi is a love-struck girl that just can't get over the fact that she was dumped by Yuji, of course this is a rare dedication, but quite commemorable. She did make the love relationship a little more complicated, but she also got Shana to start noticing her feelings for Yuji by starting that rivalry. Although those feelings would have developed naturally, Kazumi only pushed those feelings quicker.

Ike is your average guy, nothing really to say about him honestly.

Yuji even told her outright (along with that other guy that stayed in Misaki City, forgot name =/) if she won't come willingly he would just capture her by force, as she is necessary for the plan.

Mistake. Shana and Yuji are the main characters, if either of them gets killed off the serie ends. In fact, Yuji was the first one to appear, even before than Shana. This serie got one male main character and one female main characters, both at the same level of importance.

I can't say anything about Ike, he didn't really do anything. But you can't compare him, it's like if I'd say that the Tomogara #1 on the extras is better than Friagne... It's just pointless.

Hmmmm.........ok if shana is the main character than why does the novel read from yuji's point of view? And shana is a MAJOR character but not the MAIN character. Big difference. I do agree though that kazumi is a barbie.....but she's still a nice girl.

I will compare Ike.Although he will probably be swept under the rug in season 3,he had a lot of roles in seasons 1+2. And saying he's just as important as tomogara #1 is a huge understatement. You can't deem everyone who's not yuji and shana useless.

Well she did more than that, she became really good friends with shana, she made yuji realize that he's more of a human than anyone else, she made shana realize her feelings and made her act upon them, she is also a good character which really helps the story take off, and many more. Don't overlook the small things. Saying she made the story a "little" more complicatied is really half assing it.

The novels are not told by Yuji's PoV, nor Shana's. The story is just told as the events happen to different characters. Yuji and Shana are the main characters of the series and the PoV changes depending on who is currently being explored.

Throughout the series we have had the story told from Yuji's, Shana's, Yoshida's, hell even the villains get their own moment where thinks are in their point of views...

I read somewhere that Shana is the main character of the series/ novels and everything, but in the second season one part focussed on Yuji when he had to make the decision to go with Shana or stay in the City. (sighs)damn this is gonna be a long post. Better change my avatar...............Alright that looks good.

To start off, hooves I'm not that big on anime and I really only like two shows. One is shakugan no shana, which I'm obsessed with, and the other is eureka seven, which is getting their. I really don't like most other anime so your gonna have to fill me in on The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. As I don't watch a variety of shows. And yes the novel does change point of views, but a novel has to sometimes to reveal new information. If we only knew what yuji saw I would not know what a spoon is. :heh:. So it's only natural that the book changes perspectives. Besides, it stays in yujis pov for like 80% of the time. And I think it's safe to say that since yuji's departure, shana, in a way, has become the main character. Although until then, yuji was the main character.

Yuji and shana are both really important, however, yujis just that smidge more. Which makes the story revolve around him. But the reason why you see shana so much especially when you see shakugan no shana, is because she is the image. She's on the novel covers, she is on the posters, she is on the dvds, she has the wierd hentai pictures that people make(freaks), and she has the name of the show. Shakugan no SHANA. But, that's not to say that that's a bad thing. She fits it well. A lot better than yuji would. When it comes down to it though, yuji is the star.

So, I'll add my own whacky idea that would definitely be a surprise:

Pheles is a Crimson Lord. She gave a Hogou to Yoshida that will 'summon' Pheles and, in doing so as a human, Yoshida will 'lose her life'. She was to use it if she wanted to 'walk' with Yuji and Shana. What if:
- 'Summon' meant to make a contract with
- 'lose her human life' means to become a Flame Haze
- 'Walking' with Yuji and Shana meant literally as a Flame Haze

I reckon that would be great fun, as it would affect relationships between numerous characters.

Sorry, the idea, that Kazumi forms a contract with Pheles to become a Flame Haze, is not going to materialize. The same goes for Satou and other normal humans. Human do not have the capacity to sustain huge amount of power of existence, a necessary criteria to become a powerful Flame Haze. This is because they are not popular enough. The more popular you are, the greater amount of power of existence you can hold. Unless Kazumi can become well-known throughout the world, this idea is not going to work. In other words, the strength of a Flame Haze (Kazumi + Pheles) is certainly weaker than of the original strength of Pheles herself.

The reason Shana didn't have a name was because she was found as an infant that's family had been devoured. Willhelmina, the one who I'm guessing defeated the devourers,took shana in out of pity. Since the people who named shana, her parents, were killed. Their was no way of passing that name on to Willhelmina. And I'm guessing since Willhelmina is so strict, she seemed it useless to name her. Other Flame Hazes, on the other hand, became Flame Hazes at an older age, and kept their names regardless of their situation.

In my opinion, that is not entirely correct story. What I have now is based on anime. If anyone else has more accurate version of this story, based on novel, feel free to correct my mistake.

From what I gather, Shana was delibrately sought out as a infant who could eventually hold the entirity of Alastor's power. It's not about popularity, but potential of existence that a person has. It's been stated multiple times in earlier novels if Shana wasn't contracted, she would have made significant contributions towards humanity in some way.

As far as I know though, Shana is in effect a orphan when she was found, I can't recall anything about her family or parents before that.

What the hell are you talking about?Popular enough? Every flame haze was once a human. Every human can become a flame haze. Your strength is determined by how strong you are as a person, or how strong your contractor is. If a lord sees you as a worthy partner than he/she will aim to make a contract with you. Once they do, THEN they can store and use mass ammounts of power of existence, through them. Don't post anything or contribute to the conversation, only to say something once and completely knock off someone's theory without knowing the actual facts first. That is ignorant and rude.

As for my explanation, the fact that wilhelmina killed shana's attackers is an assumption and I thought people were smart enough to realize that. It is IMPLIED that shana's family was devoured, it is IMPLIED that wilhelmina killed the attackers, it is IMPLIED that shana had a name, and it is IMPLIED that she was special by coincidence.

You know what that is? That's how many english novel releases there have been. Do you know how many people other than the Japanese that can speak Japanese? Or do I have to explain that to you to? The novels are very limited, if we could read all of them,then we would. Thus giving all fans more explanation on Shana's past, as the novels have more information in them. Until then, the anime is the best source of info. for most fans.Idiot.

Still, I feel sad for those people. Everyone near/in Asia, stay cautioned! I don't want anybody to get hurt.

Shana was raised since she was a baby by Willhelmina, I doubt that she actually got a memory of her past as she was too young to remember anything. But I'm sure that the author got us a surprise about the Shana's past in the last volume.

I disagree. I think the position or title you hold has nothing to do with the amount of power of existence you can hold. But the actual person themself. I think the writer purposely gave almost every flame haze an important back story so that it would be more interesting. Thus making people think their influence equals power.

Shana was only a kid when she became a flame haze so that's proof that your popularity/infuluence doesn't matter. If I'm not mistaken wasn't there that one kid who margery and sydonay killed? In the flashback?New York?Glasses? Wasn't he just a regular kid?Rich, I think, but regular. And a flame haze. Also most of shana's power comes from Alastor. When Yuji first met her she couldn't even do a back flip.(exaggeration) On the other hand,she is also a pretty stong person herself. (mentally speaking) So I think the power of the flame haze comes from the person and the contractor combined. How much the contractor can put out, and how much the person can channel.

Regarding the earthquake ,I heard it was around 8.9 on the richter scale. (Keep in mind the highest is 10) Unfortunately for Japan they lay right on the edge of a major tectonic plate. However, it is completely normal for natural disasters to happen on these edges. Still a tragedy, nonetheless. Also 2012 is bullshit. Don't believe it.

But with a magnitude of 8.9 can be quite a skeptical, especially when it is close to being the highest, but still not there. Also the 2012 theory is just silly now, they used to believe the world would end in earlier dates, once 2012 arrives and nothing happens, it will just be moved to another year. That's basically the process that has been going for all these years.

I stated previously that I'm rewatching season 2. I just watched episode 17 a couple days ago, and I just realized that Satou is one of my favourite characters.(next to Wilhelmina) He's a badass, and I really hope he plays a major role in season 3. Actually the Marcus' point is really interesting. I think that alvin ment influence by saying popularity. In fact, if you are a king or a prince, you got the influence to move huge masses of people and there is where your potential of existence increases. We can't know which was the Shana's past, but she could have been the daughter of an important person in Hong Kong or China (since we don't know her born town) and that's how Alastor felt her potential. It's difficult to know about the past of all the Flame Hazes, but East-Edge wears as a chieftain, Willhelmina served the royalty and there is more examples above. I think that normal persons can as well became one, but the power of existence of the Crimson Lord must be lower than average or the human would explote. Pheles is a powerfull Denizen, so the person in the actual world must have a lot of potential of existence to support her.

Again, you can say that the information I received is considered second hand and subject to misinterpretation. Still, I try to ensure them to be as correct as possible.

The idea about popularity affecting Power of Existence is obtained from Shakugan no Shana Terminology and Metaphysics Discussion Thread (http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=56148) by Kinny Riddle. I am sure that Kinny Riddle is partially responsible for the translation of the novel at Baka Tsuki. Here are the relevant parts:

However, not everyone can become a powerful Flame Haze. Even if Crimson Lord is powerful but that human is not popular enough, that human cannot fully unleash the full strength of Crimson Lord, thus become a weaker Flame Haze. You see that this theory aligns quite well with both Marcus H.'s and SkyFlames's.

pancakes, if you dispute this theory as wrong, please state why it is wrong. Then, state what reason to have large amount of power of existence is. If we all here agree with your theory, we shall treat it as a fact from here onwards.

You sounded really conceited and stuck up. Almost like your opinion was more important or right. And I did not hear one ounce of respect in that comment. So don't try to turn it around. Also if you didn't read the novels yourself don't try to talk like you know what your talking about. You only know what you see in summaries, and to make strong opinion based theories from these is rather ignorant.

Now, the theory stated by you and Kinny Riddle is an opinion. The theory stated that people obtain poe from themselves is my opinion. Everybody has one, and you have no right to tell someone that there opinion is wrong. You are not anybodies mother. Get used to it.

However, you could put up enough facts to SUPPORT your theory. Yet no matter how many facts you put up, that theory will always remain a theory. Everyone supports my theory that anyone can become a flame haze and there is tons of evidence, however this may be, and no matter how angry it makes me or the fans, this is STILL a theory.A writer has all control in a story, and can flip the reader anytime he wants. What if the only people who can become flame hazes are sex addicts?Or people who play pokemon? LOL yes!it can happen. However wierd the thought. So until yashichiro takahashi tells us himself,we won't know. (or did he tell us? i forget....)

Until then,you say Kinny Riddle has put up and supported this theory? Hmmm................if you ask me you do not have enough facts or examples to support this. (popularity=poe) For your few reasons, (may not be all of them) here are my counter arguments.

1. Almost every powerful flame haze is influencial in life
-Can be to spice up the story and make the characters interesting. No one wants to see my brother shooting ribbons out of his hands. Also can be complete coincidence.

2.If flame haze is not popular enough he/she will not be strong
-When a human becomes a flame haze their existence is completely erased and only the crimson awared know of them. If their influence disappears like that, then did their popularity matter at all? Shana was known by like 3+people. When she became a flame haze she could defeat rainbow wings. (name of glasses boy yuri chvojka) Yuri defeated a denizen right off the bat, and he was just an Ukrainian immigrant. I doubt there place in life mattered when it came to their power.

3.The more popular a human, the more power
-When a human, yet again, becomes a flame haze. All their existence is wiped away at a certain point. So does that mean that a flame haze has a fixed limit of power? Only to be as strong as they were popular when they made the contract? Or can they become stonger? You'll have to be more specific.
I do know, however, that they can unlock their true potential. When Shana started to get closer to Yuji she got stonger and stonger. (I think alastor said something really corny like her flame increased) When Margery knew that she had feelings for keisaku and eita (not romantically........yet) she flew up and showed sydonay whats up with her increase of power. when yuri decided upon who he was,then and only then was he able to fight to his true potential.

(sighs of relief)that was a long comment. You do know that this topic is VERY general, so arguing about it is touchy. Please reply though. As I love to debate.

Aren't Tomogara's born because something or someone has a grudge on Humans or Flame Hazes and they need to collect PoE because they need it to survive? They have no way of regen-ing PoE so they need to collect it from external sources. Rinne have to as well, but they can't collect it and need a tomogara to do that for them.

Tomogaras aren't living beings from the Human Realm, so in order to keep their existence they must eat PoE from other persons. The Rinnes can collect this, but they can't consume it as they need a Denizen to reload their PoE.

By the way, seems that J.C. Staff didn't got affected by the earthquake

People might be concerened by the earthquake. Also, I recommand everyone to not go to Japan, Korea or Taiwan until the nuclear central blows up or cools down.

Another thing might be that everyone that previously had no clue about the novels now have their minds wrapped about what's going on and now have a clear idea of what to expect or not expect when J.C. Staff releases season 3.

I wouldnt worry at all. They say if your 15 miles away from the plant you'll be fine. People are crazy though. I live all the way in Illinois in the United States and everyone's freaking out. I love all the OP's and ED's for Shana. Mami Kawada is an amazing singer, and Kotoko is pretty good too. Although my favorite endings are 1+2. (Yoake Umarekuru Shoujo/Aka no Seijaku) Which were done by different people. (Yoko Takahashi and Yoko Ishida)

Why is Yuji being duped by the Snake and do something evil while there is still hope and a way for Yuji to snap out of it and kill Snake of the Festival without being killed or disappearing forever. If not then Shana will have no choice but to kill him. By killing him the ending SnS will end up like this:
1. Just like School Days, where even nicer guys have no chance of being a good guy, thus making bullies out of women and girls who are the fans of it that picking on even on friendly and/or chivalric guys who do not want doing anything perverse or any other wrongdoings
2. She loses her love but moves on and continue her duties as a flame haze, forgetting her love completely
3. She dies/disappears along with her love interest with or without kissing each other.
4. She will learn everything about love after she lost him.
5. Any ending whose conflicts about romantic love between Flame Haze and her love interest can no longer be solved, thus a tragic love ending.

Any of these endings will...make Shakugan no Shana seem sadistic to its fans, make Yuji-X-Shana fanatics mad, make some men call Shana a heartless person, some feel like all girls are heartless except, "Yamato Nadeshiko" steriotypes who are older than them and who are romantically interested in these types of girls/women, as seen in most of the romance anime series...and that is what I feared for...

Don't get me wrong! I'm still a yuji-x-shana fan and I want Shana and Yuji to be together in the end. I hope you all understand and I hope I'm wrong. I hope someone will send what I feel through this post to the Shakugan no Shana author if there is someone.

Do any of you fine Shana fans happen to know of a place where I can read decently long summaries of all the released Novels?

I marathonned both anime seasons, and after that, I did look up a lot of information about the novels, such as the things that happen with Shana, Yuji, Margery, Yoshida, etc. But since I can't read the Novels themselves, and I'm impatient to wait for Season 3 of the anime (which will hopefully cover everything), I'd like to read summaries of the Novels to at least be somewhat in the loop.

However, my search for these summaries hasn't brought up many results, so it'd be much appreciated if you could help.

But, umm...since you were talking about the music, I must say two things.

1) Hishoku no Sora is definitely my favorite piece.
2) Reading your conversation on the previous page got me to look up a large number of Mama Kawada songs last night, and I must say, I now know why you like her. Amazing music.

@WTFNinja - You wont be able to find any long detailed summaries of the novels for Shana because...well, they dont exist sadly.

The little summaries people post on this thread is the best you will find in english for now

Sadly, that's the truth. For now the long detailed explanations of the novels that you wish for is only gonna be present once SnS season 3 comes out. Unless one of the novel readers would like to spend their time thoroughly rereading the novel chapter and then putting as much detail as he/she can in one post.

Long summary for Volume 8 - Chapter 1 (Credits to Teh_Ping)

B-T's down. This update goes to Vol 8 Chp 1 when it's up:

These two have been training together everyday, whether it’s training on how to control the ‘Sonzai no Chikara’ at the Sakai’s residence’s rooftop right before midnight, or training physically in the morning at the garden, nothing has changed. Shana continues to eat and play at Yuji’s house, being taken care of by Chigusa in all sorts of ways; this is still the same as before. They’ve been eating breakfast together as well (as yesterday, a Saturday, was a holiday, they had all three meals together). Occasionally, Shana would head into Yuji’s room and bring along heavy books that belong to Yuji’s father Kantaro, who’s alone overseas due to work, and start to read them in a relishing manner, this hasn’t changed.

However, besides the bare minimum of conversation, it can be said that both of them don’t really have much to talk about.

It’s as if there’s an invisible wall between both of them, ending up with them having nothing to say to each other.

Yuji stares at the screen of rain in front and sighs slightly.

Shana seems to realize this, but doesn’t say anything.

However, that’s not due to the cold atmosphere surrounding them.

The place where he’s going to, and what he’s going to do are the real reasons why he’s emotionally low. Thinking about it—

Sakai Yuji isn’t human.

The ‘real Sakai Yuji’ was already attacked by one of the Denizens who attacked this city, having died because his ‘Sonzai no Chikara’ got swallowed. The ‘current Sakai Yuji’ is now a replacement torch that’s created from his remains.

A torch is a tool that’s used to contain the remaining Sonzai no Chikara, which will gradually run out and disappear without anyone knowing.

If a stone is thrown into water, there’ll be a sound of a ripple, and someone will find out. If someone lets a stone slowly sink into the water, the person will unknowingly achieve this. The torch is a that’ll fool the surroundings.

Sakai Yuji is one of them.

Idiot. Either because of coincidence or some other reason, there’s a treasure tool hidden inside his body. It’s the Crimson treasure tool, ‘Reiji Maigo’, which can interfere with time.

It’s unknown where he got that treasure tool from. It has the ability to replenish the ‘Sonzai no Chikara’ at midnight, and it’s a continuous mechanism. Because of this tool, Sakai Yuji won’t vanish, but became a ‘moving treasure stove’ mystes. With his personality and existence still intact, Sakai Yuji is able to continue living on like an ordinary person.

(If, if I could meet everyone yesterday without having to prepare ourselves emotionally…)

However, the fact that he’s the remnant of a deceased person hasn’t changed.

And his friends knew about it.

What happened that day…when a Crimson Lord attacked, his good friends and classmates Keisaku Satou and Eita Tanaka, and Yoshida Kazumi, who he harbored feelings for, found out about this, and he has no capacity to deny this.

Satou and Tanaka have an extraordinary relationship with another Flame Haze, the ‘Interpreter of Condolence’ Margery Daw, so it’s obvious that they’ll meet.

However, Yoshida’s the complete opposite. It was because she was manipulated and made used by another Flame Haze who’s in the city, the ’Mobilizer of Ceremonial Equipment’ Khamsin (At least this is what Yuji thinks).

Sakai Yuji is already dead, and is only a remnant in front of them—the fact that he wouldn’t want his family and friends to know, but yet this is revealed to his closest friends.

At that time, Yuji was really shocked that they discovered the truth, and regretted the choice that he made. Right now, he can clearly feel all the anger in regards to the reality that he’s in now.

However, the rage continues to press forward. The more he forces the issue, the less time he has to be buried under these feelings, and it’s the same for the three friends who knew the truth.

Together with the Flame Hazes, they ran full throttle to prevent the Crimson Lord from achieving what he wanted, and survived. Maybe due to the excitement and relaxation over the moment of victory, everyone calmed down.

After everything was done, everyone tried to think of an excuse to explain to Chigusa why Shana, who went into battle in the yukata, has it all tattered, and created quite the commotion. After a while, without knowing it, each other them walked back home.

But right now—it’s been a day already. There’s enough time for them to ponder about what happened up till now. Yuji’s grudgingly head towards the gathering place where the friends who knew the truth are. They’re there to send of the Flame Haze ’Mobilizer of Ceremonial Equipment’ Khamsin, who’s leaving this city this morning.

(Really, he’s so irritating no matter what the situation is…)

Yuji curses the old Flame Haze who’s about to leave.

“…Uu…”

Beside him, Shana sighs softly.

Sensing this slight realization that the Flame Haze made, Yuji asks, not realizing his own awareness,

“What’s up?”

“Nothing.”

“Really?”

Shana gives a short, simple answer, and became silent.

There’s only the sound of the tiny raindrops hitting the umbrellas continuously, surrounding the two of them.

Short summaries for Volumes 17 and 21 (Credits to Marcus H)

Here's the last part of the summaries.

Sabrac reminisces about a certain Denizen (Mare). Sabrac murmured her name in Volume XV too and vowed to kill a certain Flame Haze who killed her. It has become more evident that Sabrac did have feelings for Mare, which he finally accepts too late.

It is then revealed how Mare and Sabrac first met.
Sabrac saved Mare, who was traveling with the Crimson Denizen group Hyakki Yakou, which was then ambushed by Flame Haze. Mare said that he is like a sword, “the intimidating power sheathed inside the scabbard”. She said she was jealous of him because his power is far greater than her, little and weak Denizens who only control people's dreams while he can kill them whenever he wants.

One day, she said that she will going to seek a certain thing – the Reiji Maigo – to become a great existence like Sabrac. She entrusted her Hystrix to him saying she will take it back when came back with that certain thing. She left him and thus came to Misaki City, where she meets her demise in the hands of Shana.

Meanwhile, Shana did say she loves Yuuji and that she'll beat the Snake of the Festival and rescue him. Then, they fight each other. (Not sure about this one. –Marcus

Margery Daw is soon revived after Keisaku ...um... kissed her. Then he confessed that he loves her and they kissed again. (Well...their age difference is about 1000+ years though. That's acceptable...) (I do not know how the mechanics of a Flame Haze contract exactly work, so I’m puzzled as to how Margery survived. –Marcus)

In XVIII, Shana broke free from Bel-Peol's chain [Tartaros] (which can deny the rules or phenomena as well as Flame Haze abilities) with the help of Tenmoku Ikko, who re-materialized from Nietono no Shana which was taken when she was captured. Shana, learns new Unrestricted Spells by realizing the true strength and form of Alastor: [Shinku] (True Crimson), [Hien] (Soaring Flame), [Shinban] (Judgment) and [Danzai] (Conviction). She then regroups with Wilhelmina Carmel, Rebecca Reed and Khamsin inside [Seireiden]. Together, they traveled through the gate leading to [Keidou] (Path of Pilgrimage), the dimension where the real body of Snake of the Festival was sealed by ancient Flame Haze long time ago.

Since XVIII, most of the Seireiden's army were attacking many places in the world under the command of Decarabia, the Crimson Lord with the shape of giant and long scaled-fish, who uses an Unrestricted Spell known as [Providence] to command all of them in an instant.

About Decarabia…
[Providence] is activated as Decarabia scatters his scales and attached them to anything. From those scales, he could see , hear and even cast Unrestricted Spell from those scales wherever they were and the time limit of this overwhelming spell is...unknown or very, very long; because his true name is Byoubyouri or translated as “Officer of Boundless Sea”.

Unfortunately for the Crimson Denizens, after Khamsin incapacitated Crypta, the shield protecting Seireiden (and in Tendoukyuu too), from inside the fortress. Also, due to Tenmoku Ikko’s rampage inside Seireiden and attacks against Fecor, the defenses made by [Magnesia], his Unrestricted Spell of absolute protection, disappeared. Some of Crimson Lords were ordered to come back to help protect Seireiden because The Snake, the Trinity, Professor and Sabrac went inside Keidou.

The one who came back first (with the help from Stolas, a Denizen that uses instant transporting unrestricted spell named [Prozzesion]) was Haborym, a Crimson Lord who use an Unrestricted Spell named [Keiryougen] (Field of Shining Blaze) which harden his ally's physical and flame power.

Shana's group went inside Keidou and were confronted by Sabrac. Wilhelmina, Rebecca and Khamsin attacked him but are unaware that Sabrac's unrestricted spell, [Stigma], was redesigned. Now named [Stigmata], this spell creates worse effects than the previous one; it can control the size of wounds.

Shana moved forward to face Yuuji. But before she reached him the body of snake had been awakened. A figure of a giant snake began moving toward the gate of Keidou to return to Earth.

The battle began in somewhere of China. Seireiden fell down. Tomogaras were forced to protect themselves from the Flame Haze Army. In the battle's climax, Sophie Sawallisch (old nun), the great commander of Flame Hazes' side use her signature drop-kick (she used this many times, killing Ullikimmi in X, Nitika in Zoetrope.) to destroy the gate of Keidou but this failed because Fecor used his last breath (still not confirmed he did perished or not...) to command his Magnesia to protect the gate that would become the triumph arch Snake of the Festival shall use to return.

In that time, Sabrac, petrified with the giant existence of the true snake, was consumed by that giant snake. Actually, he could survive but chose to stay as that, but he declines Bel-Peol's help with her chain. He cuts the chain (which could protect him from the snake's true body) wrapped around his wrist and let himself devour by the snake. He talked to himself that he now knew what Mare felt when she was with him, a Denizen with far more power than herself.

At the end of the story, Snake reached Earth and Flame Haze losing their will power and under despair while the Denizens cheerfully shouts for the arrival of the God of Creation, Snake of the Festival.

In the epilogue, Sabrac reminisces again about Mare. He said that he now understands the feeling she had for him and thinking about the last words he heard from his "little butterfly” (the nickname he called her) which were:

“I will... definitely become one (a Denizen with an existence as great as him).”

“When that time comes, whatever shape you take.....please watch me, smile for me and welcome me.”

Sabrac called himself and Mare both idiots.

He, who until now realize nothing.
She, who fought to seek power in order to stand beside him and died.

I'm not angry that you did unnecessary things to me.
Also, I'm not feeling bitter because that you're small.
Therefore, please smile… beloved butterfly.

And an addition.

When Snake reached the gate, one of the silhouettes of ancient Flame Haze* catches Shana and brought her away from the giant Snake (they were fighting on its back). The Snake/Yuuji and Shana looked at each other for the last time and then they were separated. Yuuji left the gate and arrived Earth.

*Forgot to tell that inside the Keidou, there were silhouettes/shadows of ancient Flame Haze who sacrificed themselves to seal Snake of the Festival. Up until now they were still overlooking this dimension, although the Snake ultimately managed to find his true body.

Shana and Wilhelmina's group, rescued by 4 silhouettes, landed down on the edge of Keidou in front of the gate. Silhouettes took human form. Each one has their own pale color of flames. The ancient ones touched and gently pushed their backs instead of using words. Knowing that they now bore the mission to follow the Snake, Shana's group watches the silhouettes that couldn't leave the dimension. They couldn't do something else besides seeing them off. Khamsin, who seems to know them back when they were still alive, did an old-style...some kind of farewell (novel didn't explain what kind of interaction it was) which they answered back by the same style. Then, they were sent back to Earth.

The last part of novel depicted the arrival of the giant Snake and Flame Hazes' despair, so not much about the outcome of Shana & Yuuji's fight. The epilogue is about Sabrac x Mare.

Now, we just need the summaries for XX and XXI: Centerhill's death and the reunion of the remaining Three Gods of the Earth.

now the actual summary.
Prologue.
Shana is fighting Yuji and how she is realizing how futile for her to be fighting a true god, much less a god who is Yuji sakai (her everything ). She trires to remind herself her purpose and status as a flame haze and a keeper of balance.
Shana is defeated and as yuji walks towards her, he offers her his hand and as shana is puzzled at the gesture and is at the same time torn between the choice of reaching out and taking his hand or not. as yuji's hand comes closer and closer shana saw nothing but darkness.
Shana then wakes up in a luxurious bedroom. realizing she just had another nightmare again. She has been locked up here for days now. devoid of her powers thanks to a bracelet put on her wrist and striped of her gear(her katana and trenchcoat). And most importantly she is without Alastor. She is alone, as truly alone as she ever had been. She knows that this is no dream, this is as real as they get.

the main story
In China 100 miles west of Shanghai, in a place of serene beauty. An army gathered. An army of Denizens of the Crimson Realm of untold numbers ranging from all sizes and shapes stood with parade like stillness before a lake as their general Sydonay stood and watched the sky. Shortly the ominous shape of their sky fortress arrived. SnH yuji came to greet Sydonay though not before putting on a little show for the troops as he descended from the heavens.:) Turning the sky's color silver and shrouding the ground in a blanket of dark flame. Sydonay threw his Shintetu Nyoi at Yuji to test him. The spear ended up looking like a sculpture of a twisted snake as it hit the ground seconds later.
Then with Bel-pol and sydonay the group conducted the planning of their next step against the flame haze survivors of China. ( here is a part of the story from vol 16 that i figure i should include here since its rather sad and adds more to the story and the universe of SnS)
In the last volume sydonay lead a blitzkrieg campaign aimed at destabilizing the command structure of the flame haze branch at china. Slaughtering every single flame haze residing in shanghai and also finding and eliminate the strongest flame haze in China, a girl(虞轩 i don't know how to pronounce this) called the 剑花挥舞者(Dancing sword flower) contracted to the crimson lord 帝鸿(one of the ancestral god/goddess for the origins of the Chinese people.) and her human servant. The attack of bal masque came as a surprise the numbers they used in this attack was far too great as numerous as the flame hazes in shanghai they were simply too outnumbered. The old manservant 项辛 advised 虞轩 to escape shanghai and attempt to regroup the rest of the flame hazes under her command .However As the two tried to escape through the underground tunnels of their headquarter building they found their path blocked by collapsed tunnels. With no way out but the way they came from. The old man tells 虞轩 to leave him here and go as he would only burden her, lessening her chance to break through and escape the besieged city. The old man commenting on how he enjoyed and does not regret having spent the last 60 years following 虞轩. A teary eyed 虞轩 remembered their first fateful meeting 60 years ago on the streets of shanghai and the years they shared. 虞轩 turned away not wanting to see the oldman's eyes and knowing whats to come the oldman closed his own eyes and said "don't hold back let them have it." The girl smiled sadly and in a flash spun around ,her holy sword drawn and beheaded the old man in one smooth motion. It was the least she could do , a living servant of the flame hazes would be devoured without mercy by her enemies, much better that he died by her hand instead, and she would join him soon enough-she had no intention of escaping the city, but would rather go down fighting. Breaking to the surface it was not long till she met their match. The girl and her Crimson lord instantly recognized Sydonay and called him 蚩尤 (Chi-you)( Those who knows ancient chinese mythology should recognize the name instantly) An epic battle ensued, at one point 虞轩 envoked the power of her lord and transformed into a goddess, but in the end the battle ended with sydonay killing 虞轩 and commenting on how her death was sad.....but truly beautiful....

Returning to the story at hand. It seems that the remaining flame haze of china have rallied and gathered in an fortified position easily defended. There numbers and those among the survivors pose a threat the future operations of Bal masque .Bel-pol suggest they be taken care of as soon as possible. Several new members of bal masque were introduced at this point . Eventually the scene shifts and its a conversation between Sydonay and Bel-pol and their thoughts on their newly returned lord. The mentioned that they did not foresee their lord returning in such a fashion. while their plans are moving forward but several factors are already changed . neither of them likes the idea of a flame haze aboard. And began to wonder whether Yuji's memory is having too much of an impact on SnH's behaviors. Eventually the two found Hecate on the roof balcony of Sereiden hovering over the railing looking down upon the scenery before her with a smile on her face. Bel-pol commented how in any case their cute Hecate is the only one without any complaint and it has become quite common to see her smile lately.
Just then the group was informed by the professor that phase two preparation has been completed and is awaiting the word to began. Hecate comments that whatever happens from now on and whatever stands in her way and bal masque she would conqueror all. A dark shadow passed over her face(Yandere Hecate? :p)

the next chapter is pretty much shana sinking deeper and deeper into her emo side. She really can't take being alone too well, all her bad memories coming back to haunt her. Though given her situation i can't blame her . She has a few maid that yuji instructed to tend to her need but she generally ignores them. Yuji eventually came to visit her since he and Alastor are worried that she might hurt herself again. (Though she cut her wrist not out of suicide. She tried to use a a decorative sword hanging on the wall and her own weight to break the bracelet sealing her powers. Needless to say that didn't turn out so well and the timely arrival of her servants saved her life ). Alastor at any rate have decided to stay with yuji a little longer to learn more about his old adversary. The process is completely voluntary as Alastor can return to Shana at any time if he willed it. But it doesn't make shana any happier. Yuji tried to approach shana to see her wound but she resisted and yuji used more strength than he intended to restrain her and realizing he hurt her he let go was quite shocked with him self .
and then a voice outside of the room reminded yuji that he had an honored guest and an old friend/accomplice.
to shana 's surprise it is none other than Rammie the corpse retriever, also know to few as the spiral organ. ( the old dude from season 1 that was devouring all the dying torches).

Back at japan Wilhelmina contemplates the situation. Still trying to guess the true nature of SnH. Wilhelmina is quite saddened and distraught upon learning the list of the dead flame haze from china . (apparently she and 虞轩 and several others were friends but she mentioned 虞轩's name first.) Tiamat comments that the impending battle is unavoidable. Another apocalyptic war between Bal masque and the flame hazes are well on its way just like a eternity ago. She deduce that Yuji took shana away to shield her from the oncoming slaughter and to render one of the few crimson lords thats a threat to him useless for the time being.
Wilhelmina returning home after visting the house of Chigusa. A sad experience since Chigusa no longer have memories of her son yuji nor of shana, yet she still treats Wilhelmina the same way as usual.
Wilhelmina have been organising an operation to rescue shana and have been sending letters to her friends across the globe asking for aid . but most turned her offer down. She is not surprised as she has been staying on the floating island for far too long before this that it created a unfortunate distance with their friendship in that none are willing to offer Wilhelmina assistance especially in a trying time when the bal masque is on the move. And those that are probably willing to offer aid now are dead. Margery is in no better shape, in the greater scheme of things she is as good as dead , a flame haze without a purpose to fight or to live. A husk of her once powerful and confident self. In the end Wilhelmina decided that she has no choice but to attempt the rescue on her own she gets ready to leave her apartment having trouble finding her backpack not realizing its already on her back. Before she leaves she wonders aloud whether Chigusa 's baby is a girl or boy and that she wishes them the best of luck.

Ok that about it from me for now there is alot of stuff left but i need to sleep more be added tommorow......

Finished vol.21
Shana and Chiara went to John F. Kennedy International Airport to meet certain Flame Haze; SouthValley and WestShore.

At EastEdge's place, Shana conveyed about CenterHill's last words and his resolve to fight this war against Snake of Festival to the remaining Four Gods of Mainland. After the conversation, all three decided to participated in this war. Also, certain person contact at EastEdge's (highly possible to be Para of the Hyakki Yakou).

Meanwhile, many Denizen from all over the world started to come to Japan after SoF's annunciation about his Xanadu(Utopia for every Denizen as he explained in vol.XX). Flame Haze at the main headquarter at Zurich clashed about the situation and resolution for this crisis but all to no avail.

Every Denizen under Bal Masque also arrived at Misaki City and Yuji took Kazumi with him to Seireiden to use her "image" of the City to reverse the Tuning Spell with "Anti Seal"(from vol VI (Dantalion's arc in the anime but animators changed the story) which will cause the already unstable dimension around Misaki City to break down, thus opening the Interval between worlds; where he would created the Xanadu.

Hecate was revealed to be the necessary sacrifice for the last process of God of Creation's Summoning as part of the system; every time the God of Creation sleeps, the priestess will appear and preparing for his return. After she was sacrificed for the Summoning, the God will create another "Hecate" again. She bid farewell to Sydonay and fulfilled her duty.

Dantalion activated the Saishuku no Shadan (Mandala Shrine of Ruling Celebration?), the fortress constructed inside Seireiden which would be the main instrument for creating Xanadu. This fortress also had the defence system; old-fashioned robots equipped with Kiken no Kentou (Folded Spheres of Brandishing Fists), a system which create small vortex resembling the Pitfall of Eternity (Spell that condemned SoF into the Interval before) and could both deplete attacks from enemy or enemy him/herself.

Flame Haze consist of Shana, Wilhelmina, Chiara, Sale and Three Gods of Mainland attacked from four directions of Misaki City. Also, Denizen and Flame Haze were reaching the city, making it the Maelstrom of Warfare again. Khamsin managed to create Giant of Rubbles using the ground where Saishuku no Shadan situated; it started to collapse but Sydonay used his Shintetsu Nyoi as the bracer for it, thus losing his weapon.

Shana reached Kazumi who was locked with Tartaros, Bel-Peol's chain. She pledged Shana to cut the chain and, smiling, understanding now what she could do, activated the Giralda and Amber wind appeared...

Every Gods of Mainland possessed unique power; they don't only kill Denizen but return PoE they took away back to our world again.

- SouthValley's power : create the army of golden masked clay dolls which "eat" Denizen and return them into Earth.

- WestShore's power : create sea animals from water which "devour" PoE and return them into water. She also creates bullets from water which attack her enemies.

- EastEdge's power : create the starry sky and drop meteors to enemies. Perished enemies' left PoE would be returned to Earth.

- CenterHill's power : create an area with heavy rain where he could travel to anywhere in an instant. Perished enemies' left PoE would be returned into vegetations instead.

That's why they were called "Monsters" by others. Couldn't agree more.

Short summary for Volume 20 (Credits to Elf Song)

Finished reading vol. 20...Previously from vol.19, Sophie commences the retreat maneuver when the Snake appears from the God Gate. SoF's group returned along with Shana's group chasing behind.

Fecor perished protecting the gate but, for the last time, able to see his superiors and leader returned.

After SoF comes back to the battlefield, he proclaims the initiation of Xanadu (utopian mirror). He will create the exact same clone of Earth inside the interval between Earth and Crimson Realm. In that place, no more need for Denizens to consume people as he demonstrated this plan in the past when he built a certain utopian city called Daibakusa and look after it with Haridan (more details in Vol 2). Alongside of him, there were the Trinity, Rofocale, Illuyanka and Onamuchi who witnessed the plan.

Before he could develop to the next stage, the ancient Flame Hazes (including Khamsin/Behemoth, Tis/Asiz, Valac's former Flame Haze, Takemikazuchi's former Flame Haze (not Sophie) and other 3 Flame Hazes managed to seal him with one of them's Unrestricted Spell: Eternal Pitfall, in the interval between two worlds.

The Flame Haze army wavers after SoF's explanation but with the returning of Shana, Wilhelmina, Khamsin, Rebecca who joins the battle and the leading of Sophie, the army still distrust SoF's words. SoF then proclaims another explanation of Xanadu; The creating of this new world won't affect the Earth. They will leave this world and never come back again. He concludes that they don't have to fight anymore and their war is over now. After his last revelation, the Flame Haze army shattered. Most of them lost the reason to fight and now facing the annihilation by Bal Masque's army leading by the returned Sydonay.

The retreat maneuver is for Flame Hazes to retreat to Tendoukyu. Samuel takes care of the survivors with his Unrestricted Spell: Wagenburg, Sophie uses the counterfeit Tendoukyu(s) to confuse the enemies. CenterHill activates his Unrestricted Spell: Tlalocan and creates the beacon for the survivors to retreat to. Shana and Wilhelmina interfere Sydonay to buy some time for them to retreat. (I don't understand much this part, sorry)

CenterHill resolves to fight (after staying as the observer since the beginning of the battle) and entrusts his words of his determination to Shana to relay to other Four Gods of Mainland (EastEdge's group). He affirm that they would join the battle as he did.

In the end, Samuel and CenterHill stay as rear guard, sacrificing themselves the survivors' chance to escape with the real Tendoukyu. Shana's group manage to escape from Sydonay with the help of Margery and meet with Sale and Chiara. Together, they head to Hong Kong to regroup with the Chinese Outlaw, Kairinkai.

SoF heads to Misaki city.

-everyone seems to have forgotten yuji, just like when a torch disappears.
-shana feels very uncomfortable and misses yuji.
-yuji sent his henchmen to shanghai and killed a few flame hazes and some people.
-after spending some time with Hecate and Bel Peol (damn that lucky bastard), yuji came back and remembered all the good time he had with his family, friends and shana.
-he met shana (who followed his presence) on the bridge, shana noticed that his presence is now that of a tomogara's.
-margery and Wilhelmina arrives. yuji reveals that he is now the snake of festival sakai yuji and a fight broke out (they think yuji is being mind controlled)
-yuji sent silver to take care of margery and Wilhelmina while he fights shana
-yuji assures shana that he is not being controlled by anybody and that he is still sakai yuji.
-yuji reveals the truth behind "silver" which send Margery into a state of chaos.
-margery lost the will to live, then she lost the contract with marco and died.
-yuji told shana that he wanted to live with her forever.
-shana vowed to cut yuji down herself. and yuji told shana that he wanted to change the "truth of the world" for her, so she need not to fight anymore.
-yuji beats shana to near death and dragged her blood bathed body to the department store to retrieve the haridan where he finds Yoshida and Eita
-after telling Yoshida that he only wanted shana, yuji took the now unconscious shana back to his lair along with the haridan.

-The prologue is about Sabrac reminiscing about a certain Tomogara who actually is Mare (NDS/PS2 Shana game's original character.) Sabrac murmured her name in last novel too and vowed to kill a certain flamehaze who kill her. (It was Shana...or Reiji maigo's Kaikin that destroyed Mare. I don't sure.)
After reading XVIII & XIX , It is clearly that Sabrac did have feeling for Mare (he didn't understand that feeling until it's...)
The prologue tells us more about Sabrac and Mare's relationship :
1. He unintentionally saved Mare and they started traveling together.
2. Mare said that he is like swords, the intimidating power sheathed inside the scabbard. She said she was jealous of him because his power is far greater than her, little and weak tomogara who only control people's dream while he can kill them whenever he wants. One day, she said that she will going to seek certain thing (the Reiji Maigo)
to become great existence like Sabrac. She entrusted her (hougu?) dagger to him saying she will take it back when came back with that certain thing. She left him and thus came to Misaki City (In Shana NDS/PS2 game, if you play as Mare and win all characters, she will talking about herself now becoming strong enough and she murmured Sabrac's name before the game ends.

-Indeed, Shana did say she loves Yuuji and that she'll beat the Snake and rescue him. Then, they fight each other.

-Yeah, Margerie Daw revived after Keisaku ...um... kissed her. Then he confessed that he loves her and they kissed again. (Well...their age difference is about 1000+ years though. That's acceptable... :heh:)

-In XVIII, after Shana broke free from Bel-Peol's chain Tartaros (which can deny the rules or phenomenona as well as flamehaze' power) with the help of Tenmokuikko, re-materialized from Nietono no Shana which was taken when she was captured. Shana, having new unrestricted spells by realizing the true strength and form of Alastor : Shinku(True Crimson) , Hien(Soaring Flame) , Shinban(Judgement) and Danzai(Conviction), regrouped with Wilhelmina Carmel , Rebecca Reed and Khamsin inside Seireiden. Together, they traveled through the gate leading to Keidou(Path of Pilgrimage), the dimension where the real body of Snake of the Festival was sealed by ancient flamehazes long time ago.

Since XVIII, most of the Seireiden's army were attacking many places in the world under the command of Dacarabia, Tomogara with the shape of giant and long scaled-fish(there are some pictures of him in XVIII), who used unrestricted spell known as Providence to command all of them in an instant (homage from "Eye of Providence" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eye_of_Providence), I think. This spell activated as Dacarabia scattered his scales and attached them to anything. From those scales, he could see , hear and even cast unrestricted spell from that scales wherever they were and the time limit of this overwhelming spell is...unknown or very, very long; because his true name is Byoubyouri or translated as The officer of Boundless Sea). Unfortunately(for Tomogaras), after Khamsin incapacitated Crypta, the shield protecting Seireiden(and in Tendoukyuu too), from inside the fortress and consequence from Tenmokuikko who went rampage inside Seireiden and attacked Fecor(the man with horns and bat wings in Season2), thus making Magnesia, his unrestricted spell of absolute protection (as you can see in Season 2) disappeared. Some of lord-class tomogara were ordered to come back to help protect Seireiden because The Snake, the Trinity, Professor and Sabrac went inside Keidou.
The one who came back first (with the help from Stolas, tomogara that uses instant transporting unrestricted spell named Prozzesion) was Haborym the lord of crimson realm who use unrestricted spell named Keiryougen(Field of Shining Blaze) which harden his ally's physical and flame power.

-Shana's group went inside Keidou and confronted by Sabrac. Wilhelmina, Rebecca and Khamsin attacked him but unawared that Sabrac's unrestricted spell, Stigma, was redesign. Now named Stigmata this spell creates worse effect than the previous one; it can control the size of wounds.

-Shana moved forward to face Yuuji/Snake. But before she reached him the body of snake had been awaken. Giant snake began moving toward the gate of Keidou to return to Earth.

-The battle began in somewhere of China. Seireiden fell down. Tomogaras were forced to protected themselves from flamhaze army. In the battle's climax, Sophie Sawallisch (old nun), the great commander of flamehazes' side use her signature drop-kick (she used this many time, killing Ullikimmi in X, Nitika in Zoetrope.) to destroy the gate of Keidou but this failed because Fecor used his last breath(still not confirmed he did perished or not...) command his Magnesia to protect the gate that would become the triumph arch Snake of the Festival shall use to return.

In that time, Sabrac, petrified with the giant existence of the true snake, was consumed by that giant snake. Actually, he could survive but chose to stay as that, decline Bel-Peol's help with her chain. He cut the chain(which could protect him from the snake's true body) wrapped around his wrist and let himself devour by the snake. He talked to himself that he now knew what Mare felt when she was with him, the Tomogara with far more power than herself.

-At the end of the story, Snake reached Earth and Flamehazes losing their will power and under despair while the Tomogaras cheerfully shouts for the arrival of the God of Creation, Snake of the Festival.

-In the epilogue, Sabrac reminiscing again about Mare. He said that he now understand the feeling she had for him and thinking about the last words he heard from his "little butterfly(the nickname he called her)" which were :

"I will...definitely become one (the tomogara as great existence as him)."

"When that time comes, whatever shape you take.....please watch me, smile for me and welcome me"

Sabrac called himself and Mare both idiots.
He, who until now realize nothing.
She, who fought to seek power in order to stand beside him and died.

I'm not angry that you did unnecessary things to me.
Also, I'm not feeling bitter because that you're small.
Therefore, please smiles.....beloved butterfly.

It was posted earlier here but here it is again.

Context info: the opening line is from the general of Seirei-den. This is a direct translation. Not summarised.

[“As I thought, I cannot defeat you if I still treat you like an honored guest. Then, let me give it my all to be your opponent. I beg of you to not die on me.]

With this strange opening line, all the armor units start to spread out. The orange flames, housed inside the otherwise empty suites, split into many smaller fragments and fly out. These small fragments then turn into the shape of bees, and gradually become a dark cloud.

Shana glances all this half-heartedly. She now only feels a power incomparably greater than she had before her capture, the power that erupts from her firmly stepping feet, her unflinchingly standing body, her furiously burning hands, and her boundless mind.

[Does the unrestricted spell come next? … have to be careful to not destroy the balance]

It can be said that her heart is here, or it can be said the otherwise. She is thinking furiously on how to control this power erupting from her. Only instinct is used to destroy or deflect the Crimson Lord that keeps appearing in front of her. Her mind is focused on controlling this power.

[Before Alastor returns to me, I can rely on no one.]

Faced with battle, how to control this limitless power that comes at will? It's not easy. Even if she wants to effectively use the power stored there, like she always did before but could never fully accomplish.

In front of the general who is trying to surround Shana, in front of the armor and bees, an aberrant sight emerges. The opponent engaged in battle has undergone a drastic transformation. She still has the appearance of a girl, but has in fact turned into a monster. No, that's a.. Fiend (魔神).

[--That which is strong to me, the appropriate symbol of my power, is myself--]

The answer that was obtained before, now reappears before her.
The feet which presses down on the ground, have unnoticeably become quicker and firmer.
The flame flowing out from her hair shoots streams of fire around her.
The light from her eyes tracks the enemies' movement unflinchingly.
The katana shines with a crimson light, keen from tip to hilt.

The Flame Haze has finally grabbed a hold of her own powers.

The air collects around her in an instant, and tears.

"Wha..t?!"

The armored copies gasp in shock, instinctively covering their eyes. The bee swarm is swallowed by the heat wave. Most are burned to a crisp, the remaining pushed against the walls.

The Flame Haze at the center of the tear, "Flaming Hair, Burning Eyes Slayer", Shana, uttered quietly, "Success."

As if transformed into a small crimson comet, radiating with savage heat and light, she is surrounded with dense flame. Her flowing fiery hair spreads as if melting, and loosely covers her black coat as if it were a second coat.

<Exhale...>

Expelling breath mixed with fiery dust and shocking power, Shana closes her eyes, and then opens them at once.
With this action, a giant flaming eye materializes above and behind her with a crackle.

The presence of Denizens, the structure of unrestricted spells, which up to this point had to be felt with atmosphere and impressions, are now revealed as clear forms and movements in front of her. The vision is unusually clear. To confirm its validity, Shana holds her free hand into a fist, and gives a great shout.

[Haa!]

She reaches her hand in front of her and to the side.
Where she points, a cyclone of crimson fire materializes into a giant hand. The two large pillars and the wall in front are easily obliterated as if they were nothing more than lego blocks. It's not because the flame exploded, but rather because of the impact from the manifestation of fire as a solid existence.

Then, with burning eyes scanning the temple interior, and the giant one behind her, she completes probing the battlefield with a single glance. A new name for a new power, from the powers of authority held by her contractor, a true god of Crimson Realm.

The clear vision reveals the group of armors still holding their distance, the capturing net behind the pillars, the bee swarms deploying some kind of defensive screen, and most importantly, from the pulses of the unrestricted spell, the position of the one who is controlling these puppets.

So after all it is the bee swarm outside, the one that was used to hide the the presence of the first armor units. Covered with loose clothing, standing upright, it is the general's true body.

The true body of the general hiding behind the door that was cut open did not have time to use an unrestricted spell, indeed, he did not even have the time to scream before he was erased in an instant.

At the same moment, all the remaining armor and bee swarms turn into orange flames and disappear into the air.

Shana paid no attention to all of this.

With this powerful shout, she swings the Crimson Sword "Condemnation" upward. The mural depicting the great snake and Denizens is split open with this movement.

Context info: the opening line is from the general of Seirei-den. This is a direct translation. Not summarised.

With this strange opening line, all the armor units start to spread out. The orange flames, housed inside the otherwise empty suites, split into many smaller fragments and fly out. These small fragments then turn into the shape of bees, and gradually become a dark cloud.

Shana glances all this half-heartedly. She now only feels a power incomparably greater than she had before her capture, the power that erupts from her firmly stepping feet, her unflinchingly standing body, her furiously burning hands, and her boundless mind.

Watched the series and got hooked so I started reading the novels. Thankfully the Chinese translations are up to date.

Here's a partial summary of 18 for those who want it (it focuses on the lines following Shana). It IS translated from Chinese, though unless the source I used is utterly wrong there should be no significant differences.

Prologue

Wilhelmina is working with two other Flame Haze to retrieve the Tendo-kyu. One of them is Khamsin and the other is a “Rebeca Lito” (phonetically translated).

Chapter 1.

<Depiction of battles across the world>. (Don't feel like summarizing this).

Interlude:

A scene that has SotF/Yuji, Sodonay, Bel Peol, Hactate, Sabarac, and the Professor traveling on a road in the realm between worlds (inside God's Gate), towards where the true form of the Snake of the Festival resides.

Chapter 2. The Battle Begins

Some time has passed since most of the Bal Masque forces have left Seirei-den. It looks as if Shana has accepted everything, and is only waiting for their leader's return. But she hasn't given up, and she wonders why didn't her "unrestricted spell" work on Yuji (If you haven't read 17, this is referring to memories of Shiro's words that "love" is the most powerful "unrestricted spell" of all, and her act of accepting Yuji's hands and holding them with affection in an attempt to reach him). She wants to meet Yuji again but is obviously confused about what to do if she does. She begins to acknowledge the part of herself that isn't a Flame Haze, but realizes that to truly confront Yuji in a meaningful way, she needs her powers. She bides her time, waiting for an opportunity, believing that something must happen.

In the dark, "it" waits for the call of its master.

Rebecca and Khamsin infiltrates the Seirei-den and begins their sabotage. Ok, more like blowing up everything they see.

The two Rinne guarding Shana retrieves her and begins to move her to a safer area. While en route, the corridor they are in is hit by debris. Shana senses it and barely moves out of the way. She wakes up injured and finds that a surviving Rinne is crushed under debris. It holds onto her legs to prevent her from escaping. She takes out the ceremonial short sword she's been hiding under her dress and stabs at the crack on the Rinne's already damaged armor. The sword breaks but she manages to hammer it into the Rinne, destroying it. Angry at the worthless weapon, she calls out to her beloved sword, truly desiring power for the first time since she obtained her wings.

Nietono no Shana, hearing its master's call, materializes into its samurai form and carves a path of carnage straight towards Shana, while she presses forward not knowing exactly where. They meet somehow, and Shana orders it to cut the bracelet sealing her powers. She takes the sword offered to her. The Flaming-hair, Burning Eyes Slayer Shana revives.

It is revealed (through Wilhelmina's memory of the words of the creator of the fortresses) that the Tendo-kyu and Seirei-den used to be one. One is for living, and the other is for battle. If they were moved too close, combination would take place automatically and a path would be formed between the two. She looks for Shana obviously. Wilhelmina is confused at the lack of resistance, and meets the Spiral Organ (Rammie/Corpose Retriever). Apparently she considers him an old friend.

Interlude 2:

Still on the road in the realm between worlds. The Bal Masque group encounters remnants of Flame Haze sealed in along with SotF (they aren't quite human anymore). They battle and advance.

Chapter 3

Only a few days ago, intelligence reported suspicious activity near Hawaii. In conjunction with the information from Wilheimina, the Flame Haze make a gamble. Numbering thousands, they surround the location where Seirei-den should be. The Bal Masque forces are confused by how they obtained its location. At this moment, explosions can be heard from the Seirei-den, and with shock they realize the camouflage is destroyed.

Shana begins to make her way upwards. Separated from Alastor, she is overjoyed to be reunited with her sword. She eventually encounters the general in charge of seirei-den, and battle ensues. This one can replicate itself. She fights it and defeats the puppets effortlessly. But she isn't happy about it. She wants more power. During this battle Shana receives a huge power up and crushes all oppositions (I translated this entire part).

Shana rejoins Wilhelmina and saves Rebeca. She tells everyone what's going on, and makes up her mind that she will neither return to Tendo-kyu just yet or join the war. Instead she will go after Yuji. She and a few others take off into God's Gate. Wilhelmina is definitely among them, maybe Rebeca.

Epilogue:

Inside God's Gate, someone is waiting for the pursuing forces. I think it might be Sabarac (it's a he).

Then the discussions sorta turned to a DS game of SnS, as well as Eternal Song, and etc. From pages 1-100, then from pages 100-150 things sorta got back on track thanks to Elf Song, but no summaries were made of Volume 18, or 19 from what I read, if anyone found a summary for these two, then please post. Pages 150-186 sorta is where we are now.

Wondering why none never made summaries regarding volumes 9-15, which are the part that anime just screwed up with Konoe Fumina, was just checking the images from the raws and there is some really good scenes that I can't wait to read, literally, got on a suicide mission to try to read the raw with my 2 months knowledge of japanese, was as I said, a suicide :heh:

The Yuji's tears at the second image are easy enough for me to traslate it, but it can be wrong.

The first image is on katakana so I can't help it, but maybe Hooves can.

Don't get cheated by the image, Yuji somehow got the blustsauger and almost killed Wilhelmina, then Shana stopped him and damaged his body really bad... Then I don't know what happened and if I see another raw, I'll puke so..
This volume is like totally dedicated to Wilhelmina arrival I think.

Well, this thread does contain spoilers of the novels to all those who haven't even had a glimpse of the novels and just watched the anime. So changing this to general would be a little misleading with many spoilers to come. Unless we added (Spoilers) to the renaming of it.

Also what does kanji mean? And why did shana hurt yuji? Doesnt sound like something she would do.

Yuji was crying because of the fact that he was too weak to protect anyone and just a side-by character you usually see of side-characters in animes where the main-character gets all the spotlight. That's when Wilhelmina came in and started strangling him to death to get rid of him, then he went berserk on her in the aftermath and almost killed her. (Oh... How I love the novel Yuji :heh:)

I have read the bridge fight ... oww, how badass, Yuji in SnF is just god like.

When he went about his business as a godlike being after merging with SnF, everyone (except those who can remember) forgot about Yuji, that includes his parents, his school friends, everyone. Yuji's brother that died pre-birth, I think they remember him quite well, just forgot about the other son that was born after.

You misunderstood. I know why he was depressed, and I know why Wilhelmina attacked him, and I know why he DEFENDED himself (Major plot difference in anime and novel...............bastards). In SkyFlames comment he says Shana stopped Yuji from killing Wilhelmina and in the process she damaged his body really bad. I was asking for more information on that since I can't read Japanese. It sounds important.............like episode 9 of season 1. jk jk

From which I remember, Willhelmina almost kills him, Shana cames in and stops her, then Yuji gets the Blustsauger and there he almost kills Wilhelmina. Then I think that Shana gets mad at it, since she is like a mother to her, and punches/kicks Yuji, I'm not talking about hits as the ones she gave him when he saw her naked, but much serious ones.
Anyways, this is which I got from the spoilers some dozens of pages up here. Gonna give more details once I get to that part of the novel (long time to go).

Ok, thank you. Wilhelmina is a flame haze and yuji is a mystes, so the damage they had taken was I'm guessing pety. Since flame haze can heal quickly and a torch's body is repairable. So it was probably no big deal in the long run right? Or was it?

Also I'm not sure if you read but I have the viz versions of volumes 1+2. Why did you ask?

That doesn't mean that they don't feel pain, I'm sure that Wilhelmina was really close to death, we do know that Mystes can die as Tenmoku Ikko, or get close to it by losing too much blood or serious wounds (Johan). Yuji maybe just got inconcious after the first punches, but I don't know, I must read the novel to be sure.

So maybe we can infer that mystes's who can control their PoE don't feel pain. As for flame hazes, I'd say they could. Since they still have a human body.

Also that was the one thing I never understood. Why did Johan have blood? Torches don't bleed or have inards. Their hollow. In the first episode Yuji was slashed only to reveal he had nothing inside. So what's with Johan? Is there meaning behind this? Or did the animators just get stupid?

Actually he got inconcious a couple of times after Shana's hits, I reconoze that he got stronger, but still. Since Shana is still much stronger than him, and as I know, this is all previous to his training, since it was the first time that he used the blutsauger.

Yea yea i know this was before the MAJORITY of his training, while he could barely control anything. That's why he was vulnerable to human like weaknesses. But now, I'd say otherwise. (Post season 1 or 2)

Since anime screwed up this volume, I'd say that is season 1, before the Bale Masque attack.

I don't know if it was called "Stigma", but is the Jizaiho (Unrestricted spell) that Sabrac used in season 2 on his attack to the city.

Stigma is the unrestricted spell Sabrac uses to make wounds continue to grow. It is later upgraded to counter Wilhelmina's counter to the original counter where Sabrac can control the size of the wound. But then he dies which is kind of pointless.

........OH!!!You mean Sabraac's power of unrestraint? I'm sorry, I know what that was, its just that I've been exposed to subs, dubs(terrible), summaries, etc. And its not set in stone anywhere if shana fans should use the Japanese vocabulary or the english. So people say guze no tomagara and then they say crimson denizen. Then people say hougu and there are those who say treasure tools. It's rather confusing. I'm still learning the Japanese language so bear with me everyone.

NOW!!!!!!Back to the point, hmmmm I don't see how that would make a difference. Sabraac's Jizaiho opens up all old wounds. Torches don't have wounds......and even so they still don't have blood. But, lets say that previous damages to the body on a torch COUNTED AS WOUNDS (which doesn't make any sense, but just pretend), and they opened up. A torch still wouldn't have blood.

Btw, sorry for not answering your question, I must have skipped it on the rush.
I was asking the Viz version because I needed the novels for the spanish traslation on Baka Tsuki, but then remembered that asking for this material is not allowed so I cancelled it. Thanks for responding anyways :)
Besides I'm not evil enough to ask somebody to scanlanate 230 pages lol.

It's alright we all get rushed here and there. And I would scanlate them for you, but you're right 230 pages of "shut up, shut up, shut up" is a lot. Also, I'm not in possession of volume 1 at the moment. A friends borrowing it and I think I'm just gonna let her keep it since she likes it so much...........then I'll have to BUY a new one :(.

You know takahashi stated that the manga is a "special kind of shana"?

I have 1-6, and most people don't like the manga, but I say otherwise. Even though the drawings aren't done by Noizi Ito, they're still good. And the character and sequence of events differences makes the story more interesting. The story is told from a comical point of view though, and I think it's aimed at a younger audience. It's kinda obvious with the increase of sex jokes and childish humor, but it's still funny. When I introduce this story to friends I always make them start off with the novels or the anime. The manga I would save for die hard fans.

Oh I remember that part. Chigusa misunderstood the reason of Shana being with Yuji (you find your son on the backyard arguing with a girl while sitted right under the window, I don't blame her lol) It was really nice to see how she dealed with Shana, even when she was a complete stranger.
The manga got a lot of original plot, as for what I know, Hooves told me that much of the events there are missing in the novel and anime as well. I think it makes it more interesting, as you don't know in which order they will present the story :p

At least you can get it by a travel to the comercial center. Here, as far I know, you can't.

Isn't so necesary anyways, I still gotta traslate volumes 3, 4 and 7 by myselft, so I still got a lot of work before thinking on getting the others :heh: I guess I'll get somehow my hands on the Viz versions..... As soon as I find a library that get books from the other side of America to my country :rolleyes:

lol you think it's that easy? America is not entirely anime friendly....Everyone over here is an idiot. There is a lot of mainstream. If I go to a bookstore right now,all I'll find is Bleach and Naruto. If I ask my friends what animes they like, they'll say Bleach and Naruto. IF I TURN ON THE TV anime is aired on one basic cable station and has SOME SPECIAL CHANNELS. And the anime that is aired on the basic station? BLEACH, NARUTO, FULL METAL ALCHEMIST, GHOST IN THE SHELL, INUYAHSA, COWBOY BEBOP, KEIKASHI,and on some of the kid stations pokemon, dragon ball z,one piece, and yugioh. NO shakugan no shana, NO eureka seven, NO lucky star, NOTHING. JUST WHATEVER IS MAINSTREAMED. And you'll probably say, hey yugioh pokemon and one piece are awesome!!! ROFL!!! YOU DONT WANT TO KNOW WHAT WE DID TO EM...NUFF SAID.

Anyway to get GOOD anime you have to go to special japanese stores or go online. Otherwise, your stuck with Bleach and Naruto.

-sorry to derive away from the manga discussion, but I had to get this off my chest. and yes I would've done the same thing if I were Chigusa!!! Manga Yuji is awesome!!!

Here you can't even get Bleach and Naruto :heh: The only animated thing you can get is Ben 10 (kids show) and DBZ. That's all. But I won't say anything about my country because what else can you spect from the mentality that thinks that music as "Reggaeton" and "Cumbia" are better than everything? (check youtube and you will know what I mean...).
But I ment that you can actually request the book and know that it will arrive to you in some weeks, maybe a month. I must have went to all the book stores on my city already and just to hear the words "Shak.." you get a no in your face.

And funny story now that you mention it....when was just a wee shana fan I overheard about the video games made for it. I wanted them so badly that I called every video game store in my state starting the call with...

Game store employee:Sure, just give me the name and I'll tell you if it's in stock!

Well... A videogame isn't so hard to find, I mean there is torrents in the web. I can actually find it if I propose to, or in other ways, get one of my old pirate contacts to get it for me at the cost of 5 dollars or so, which I usually do when I want a game for PS2 and I'm too lazy/impacient to wait for it.

But a book, it's already hard to find something good ON SPANISH, I mean seriously, I like to read, but I can't remember tha last time I actually got a real book on my hands and READ it for pleasure.
Shana really caugh me because of the story, some people say that is crap and well, then I guess I like crap, so I'm trying to get those 2 books badly over here. The first volume isn't so important because someone traslated it to spanish, but I just wanted to it to get my own traslation for B-T :p now the second one is another different story, I can say that none never even got the idea of putting it on a scanner, and LESS traslating it.

But I'm not feeling like giving up any time soon, the novel worths it after all.
