I think it's actually more than just the three extras mentioned. But it doesn't matter because the only purpose Sabrac will serve is to show how much more kick ass Shana has become. He will be cannon fodder ;) merely another sacrifice in her ascension to godhood. .. err wait got carried away there.

Well, Volume 19 will be released on September 10, 2009, right? Another long wait, but we have to be patient.

Regarding Round 2 against Sabrac, how would they be going to defeat him without the help of Margery Daw? The key person is Margery Daw, as the separation between the brain and body of Sabrac was done by her. It does not matter if you have 4 Flame Hazes or 20 Flame Hazes, as Sabrac can regenerate his power of existence at all times. The only thing we can be sure is that Stigma will not work this time. Neverthesless, this fight should be very interesting.

I really hope not. It is speculated that the Season III will start at Fall 2010. Given the usual schedule of 24 episodes, Season III will end at Summer 2011. As relentlessflame (http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?p=2533504#post2533504) has mentioned, they want to time the third season to correspond with the end of the novels. As such, there should be more volumes to be released between September 10, 2009 till 2011.

Yes I think Shana will wipe the floor with Sabrac. If she can't how is she gonna deal with the other 3 and Snake Yuji? She is on a whole different level now. Makes me wonder what is she really. We do know that she is somehow very special (ok she's the protagonist, but I'm talking about in-universe reasons). We'll probably get some revelation on that.

As for Margery, she is definitely not dead, just comatose. I'm not sure if her contract with Marchosias is still good though; will have to read the later volumes more carefully for that.

Maybe I've been a bit too eager and zealous in seeking the complete summaries to Volume 17, 18, and 19. But then again, the translators have lives outside the disclosure of spoilers ans such.

Anyways, I hope the animation quality is better than last season.

I don't see any joke that Capo ruined but then again, it wouldn't be a bad idea for the Flame Hazes to do some genetic engineering and cloning to get human contract participants. Perhaps start a gene program to manipulate embryonic traits to make a female tsundere loli production line.

Aha, sorry for barging in, but just stumbled on this thread.

Discussion seems interesting, and I am one of those that is interested (yet fearful) to see what season 3 will become.
However, I'm kinda feeling that SnS might after all... have a tragic end... (I.E Yuji dies... Shana separated from him or better, they both die)
(It would be friggin epic, also sad though... but it would mark me even more thatn Kimi Ga nozomu Eien or Grave of the Fireflies)

When is novel 19 coming out already?

And I didn't read most of them because BT hasn't translated the bulk yet. (I feel sorry for the guy translating though, he's alone I think.)

So, can someone enlighten me a bit? I know the following things:

1. Yuji is now with SotF and is realtively a bad guy that can't be saved, as himself chose to become "evil"
2. Shana has lost her power when she was kidnapped to Seirei Den (What happened after that?)
3. All Flame Hazes are gathering to go and kill SotF and they have a plan (don't know what plan)
4. Shana has really made up her mind and does not love Yuji anymore??? O.o
5. Sabrac is about to get his ass kicked. (By Shana who got uber powerful, but how please?)

I would be very grateful if someone could answer me.

Novel 19 comes out September 10.

1. I don't think Yuji is really evil seems like the merger with SotF has corrupted him.
2. Shana was locked up in SotF/Yuji's room for awhile then I believe she accepted and held SotF/Yuji's hand with love in an attempt to reach Yuji's real self.
3. Not really sure what the other flame hazes are planning.
4. I believe Shana still does love Yuji since she was trying to reach his real self.
5. Shana will probably kick Sabrac's ass pretty easily she did beat him once before after all and shes alot stronger now. As for how Shana got her powerup the whole translation for that part is on page 85.

Ok, thanks for the precisions.

I am rather relieved to hear that Shana X Yuji chemistry is still going on, although a bit complex now. (Yoshida was forgotten as I see)

I do rather think that the fight between Sabrac and Shana will ensue in a Shana win, but it will be no joke fight, as to beat Sabrac, Shana had 2 ALLIES WITH HER.

Now, I wonder if she has an unrestricted spell to separate Sabrac from his power source...

Margery is not here.

(Where's she by the way? Is the scene when she's been terrified by the truth the last scene we see her?)

I just started on the Shakugan no Shana series, so if im unclear about stuff please forgive me :) Anyway, according to wikipedia, there are 21 SnS novels, but why are people on the forum saying volume 19 is coming out in september? Are there 2 so-called "side story" novels?

SotF is Snake of the Festival, the god of creation. He was one of the great gods, (like Alastor) however, he was sealed away by the combined effort of thousands of Flame Hazes and Alastor himself.
Why? Because he had a plan to make Tomogaras independant of Power of Existence, so they wouldn't need eating people anymore, however, if the plan failed, the world would be destroyed. He was thus judged to dangerous.

Yuji became "Evil" ( not really evil, just somehow corrupted ) because SotF is in the Reiji Maigo. If you read the novels, he was there since the beginning, and he kept talking to Yuji with theories and etc... in Yuji's mind. Yuji wanted to build a world where he and Shana could be together forever, and Shana would no longer have any need to fight. SotF plan's seemed to go very well with Yuji's intentions, as tomogaras would no longer threaten humanity, and Flame Hazes wouldn't have to fight anymore. So Yuji decided to merge with SotF to achieve this goal.

Well, now that you've said it, most of the character's names are based on demons' names. I could see the analogy well, though I'm not sure since I haven't read the novels. >_<

What I've noticed though is there is no "God" figure. And the role of the "Antichrist" goes to Yuji, who is controlled by Snakey, who ironically is the one who wants to create a new world, one which God in the Book of Revelation portrays.

Over a thousand years later, Snake of the Festival returns to resume his objectives just like Lucifer is released from Hell after a thousand year imprisonment to seize control of the world.

Only problem with that is that Alastor is a demon himself.

Hecate was named after the Greek goddess crossroads and witchcraft. They say the deity was from the underworld so does she count as a demon?

Tokkan, I forgot to say. Lucifer does mean morning star, but even afterwards, in Latin, Lucifer was used to designate the devil, because in the books Peter and Isaiah, Satan is refered to as the one who was once the morning star, or something like that. The Romans just used Lucifer in short.

Also, i checked. on Vine:

In demonology, Vine is an Earl and also a King of Hell, commanding 36 legions of demons. He can tell present, past and future, discover witches and hidden things, create storms and make the water rough by means of them, bring down walls and build towers.

This demon is portrayed as a lion holding a snake in his hand and riding a black horse.

As for more info on Asmodeus, or Asmodai:

He is a king of demons mostly known from the deuterocanonical Book of Tobit. Aw, I used to think that the demon classed with the sin of lust was Lilith. Well, the Middle Ages had folklore mentioning Lilith as the incarnation of lust and as Asmodeus's main enforcer of the sin.

Kind of odd to see the sin of pride associated with Lucifer while Satan is associated with the sin of wrath, even though they're one and the same.

The East Edge Flame Haze that operated the Outlaw was contracted to a Crimson Lord named Quetzalcoatl, a feather-serpent god of Aztec mythology.
Wilhelmina's contractor Tiamat is a Babylonian goddess of the sea.

Well since Tomogara apparently gave rise to the mythology of Earth, I think that the Alastor whom Shana serve is the same demon Alastor in Christian myth.

Also, Sydonay is also an early Chinese god.

Alastor was actually originally from Greek myth and Christians just adapted him for their own demonology. In fact, a whole lot of Judeo-Christian demonology is taken from other religions.

Okay, looking at the pics...
First image shows that October 23 will be the release date of Shakugan no Shana S. And the "formal" kanji says "I will defeat Yuji."

Seems like a battle between a Flame Haze named Rebecca Reed, Wilhelmina and Khamsin against Sabrac.

Third image seems to show Hecate's headgear.

And a surprised Bel-Peol without her eyepatches are a surprise as well. :O
Oh, screw that, I think it's not Bel-Peol. D: Maybe it's Hildegarde, the lady Flame Haze with the black veil over her eyes?

It is just me or Shana in the novel are ten time more beautiful than the way JC staff draw her in the anime ?. I like her white skin in the novel rather than in the anime version ( BTW i 'm not a lolicon ).

I 've read the 2 english translated novel before, compare to the anime, Shana is not as tsundere as we see in the anime. And in the recent volume she was a bot more mature or that is just my eyes are fooling me

The drawing in the Anime is just fine. Of course the light novels will always remain vastly superior, which is something I don't mind at all. Also, you don't half to be a lolicon to like Shana. :)

I know but this happened with Index too, Mikoto skin are drake than normal. I know that the TV series don't have enough money for the quality like the movie, they shouldn't do that. Sine Ihave 4 Shana figure of Shana on my desk, it really bug me every time i watch a JC staff adaption.

I don't check it yet but I think that we can see the different in design and character expression between shana ss1 and ss2.

But that was an beautiful dress she have in the pic. Hope we can she that in the anime soon. SS3 till have along way to go but we know that we will have it.

In the picture, I can only make out "kono". Everything else is too blurry. I think I remember the line being something different though.

Also, if I recall correctly, I think the page that I stumbled upon had her saying the same line as in that previously posted picture.

If I had a high resolution image of it I'd totally go and check what she said. =(

-The prologue is about Sabrac reminiscing about a certain Tomogara who actually is Mare (NDS/PS2 Shana game's original character.) Sabrac murmured her name in last novel too and vowed to kill a certain flamehaze who kill her. (It was Shana...or Reiji maigo's Kaikin that destroyed Mare. I don't sure.)
After reading XVIII & XIX , It is clearly that Sabrac did have feeling for Mare (he didn't understand that feeling until it's...)
The prologue tells us more about Sabrac and Mare's relationship :
1. He unintentionally saved Mare and they started traveling together.
2. Mare said that he is like swords, the intimidating power sheathed inside the scabbard. She said she was jealous of him because his power is far greater than her, little and weak tomogara who only control people's dream while he can kill them whenever he wants. One day, she said that she will going to seek certain thing (the Reiji Maigo)
to become great existence like Sabrac. She entrusted her (hougu?) dagger to him saying she will take it back when came back with that certain thing. She left him and thus came to Misaki City (In Shana NDS/PS2 game, if you play as Mare and win all characters, she will talking about herself now becoming strong enough and she murmured Sabrac's name before the game ends.

-Indeed, Shana did say she loves Yuuji and that she'll beat the Snake and rescue him. Then, they fight each other.

-Yeah, Margerie Daw revived after Keisaku ...um... kissed her. Then he confessed that he loves her and they kissed again. (Well...their age difference is about 1000+ years though. That's acceptable... :heh:)

-In XVIII, after Shana broke free from Bel-Peol's chain Tartaros (which can deny the rules or phenomenona as well as flamehaze' power) with the help of Tenmokuikko, re-materialized from Nietono no Shana which was taken when she was captured. Shana, having new unrestricted spells by realizing the true strength and form of Alastor : Shinku(True Crimson) , Hien(Soaring Flame) , Shinban(Judgement) and Danzai(Conviction), regrouped with Wilhelmina Carmel , Rebecca Reed and Khamsin inside Seireiden. Together, they traveled through the gate leading to Keidou(Path of Pilgrimage), the dimension where the real body of Snake of the Festival was sealed by ancient flamehazes long time ago.

Since XVIII, most of the Seireiden's army were attacking many places in the world under the command of Dacarabia, Tomogara with the shape of giant and long scaled-fish(there are some pictures of him in XVIII), who used unrestricted spell known as Providence to command all of them in an instant (homage from "Eye of Providence" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eye_of_Providence), I think. This spell activated as Dacarabia scattered his scales and attached them to anything. From those scales, he could see , hear and even cast unrestricted spell from that scales wherever they were and the time limit of this overwhelming spell is...unknown or very, very long; because his true name is Byoubyouri or translated as The officer of Boundless Sea). Unfortunately(for Tomogaras), after Khamsin incapacitated Crypta, the shield protecting Seireiden(and in Tendoukyuu too), from inside the fortress and consequence from Tenmokuikko who went rampage inside Seireiden and attacked Fecor(the man with horns and bat wings in Season2), thus making Magnesia, his unrestricted spell of absolute protection (as you can see in Season 2) disappeared. Some of lord-class tomogara were ordered to come back to help protect Seireiden because The Snake, the Trinity, Professor and Sabrac went inside Keidou.
The one who came back first (with the help from Stolas, tomogara that uses instant transporting unrestricted spell named Prozzesion) was Haborym the lord of crimson realm who use unrestricted spell named Keiryougen(Field of Shining Blaze) which harden his ally's physical and flame power.

-Shana's group went inside Keidou and confronted by Sabrac. Wilhelmina, Rebecca and Khamsin attacked him but unawared that Sabrac's unrestricted spell, Stigma, was redesign. Now named Stigmata this spell creates worse effect than the previous one; it can control the size of wounds.

-Shana moved forward to face Yuuji/Snake. But before she reached him the body of snake had been awaken. Giant snake began moving toward the gate of Keidou to return to Earth.

-The battle began in somewhere of China. Seireiden fell down. Tomogaras were forced to protected themselves from flamhaze army. In the battle's climax, Sophie Sawallisch (old nun), the great commander of flamehazes' side use her signature drop-kick (she used this many time, killing Ullikimmi in X, Nitika in Zoetrope.) to destroy the gate of Keidou but this failed because Fecor used his last breath(still not confirmed he did perished or not...) command his Magnesia to protect the gate that would become the triumph arch Snake of the Festival shall use to return.

In that time, Sabrac, petrified with the giant existence of the true snake, was consumed by that giant snake. Actually, he could survive but chose to stay as that, decline Bel-Peol's help with her chain. He cut the chain(which could protect him from the snake's true body) wrapped around his wrist and let himself devour by the snake. He talked to himself that he now knew what Mare felt when she was with him, the Tomogara with far more power than herself.

-At the end of the story, Snake reached Earth and Flamehazes losing their will power and under despair while the Tomogaras cheerfully shouts for the arrival of the God of Creation, Snake of the Festival.

-In the epilogue, Sabrac reminiscing again about Mare. He said that he now understand the feeling she had for him and thinking about the last words he heard from his "little butterfly(the nickname he called her)" which were :

"I will...definitely become one (the tomogara as great existence as him)."

"When that time comes, whatever shape you take.....please watch me, smile for me and welcome me"

Sabrac called himself and Mare both idiots.
He, who until now realize nothing.
She, who fought to seek power in order to stand beside him and died.

I'm not angry that you did unnecessary things to me.
Also, I'm not feeling bitter because that you're small.
Therefore, please smiles.....beloved butterfly.

Well, They shouted another one's name and clashed with each other. Gundam Seed for me...

When Snake reached the gate, one of the silhouettes of ancient flamehazes (Forgot to tell that inside Keidou there were silhouettes/shadows of ancient flamehazes who sacrificed themselves to seal Snake of the Festival. Up until now they were still overlooking this dimension, although the Snake ultimately managed to find his true body.) caught her and brought her away from the giant Snake (they were fighting on it's back). The Snake/Yuuji and Shana looked at each other for the last time and then they were separated. Yuuji left the gate and arrived Earth.

Shana and Wilhelmina's group, rescued by 4 silhouettes, landed down on the edge of Keidou in front of the gate. Silhouettes took human form. Each one has their own pale color of flames. The ancient ones touched and gently pushed their backs instead of using words. Knowing that they now bore the mission to follow the Snake, Shana's group watch the silhouettes who couldn't left the dimension. They couldn't do something else beside seeing them off. Khamsin, who seems to know them back when they were still alive, did an old-style...some kind of farewell (novel didn't explain what kind of interaction it was) which they answered back by the same style. Then, they were sent back to Earth.

The last part of novel depicted the arrival of the giant Snake and flamehazes' despair, so not much about the outcome of Shana & Yuuji's fight. The epilogue is about Sabrac x Mare.

Let's be patient and wait for XXI.

Thanks for the pics. Seems Shana changed back to her black hair in that one pic of her smiling. Shana's confession will probably affect Yuji in there final fight I would guess. Is that SotF in that one pic of the surface crumbling away or is that someone else? It seems quite big so my guess would be thats SotF returning to earth.

Going to seem like forever to find out what happens next. Hope the next novels come out quicker.

That's not the snake. It is a Crimson Lord names Decarabia, who was working as an operator (as his True Name referred, 'Byoubyouri') in the war against Flamehaze Army. At first, he hid his existence somewhere while commanding Tomogaras (Bal Masque)'s army over the world, but after Seireiden fell down he was forced to show himself to buy some time before reinforcement comes. (Crimson Lord names Haborym) He was destroyed by Sophie Sawallisch's deadly lightning dropkick before he could take down the bridge created by Samuel Demantius, another Flamehaze who possessed unrestricted spell 'Mound of Žižka', the power to created fortress or bridge etc. at will.

Now that I think about it, Sabrac never really must had felt an existence greater than his before. So he definitely was the most powerful Crimson Lord short of Snake. I'm guessing Alastor's true form would also be greater than Sabrac's.

I was really hoping he'd survived pass the ending. If Yuuji's (not snake, no?) plan succeeded and things turned out for the better... Sabrac continuing on as a mercenary/assassin would be so awesome. Just love them swords. I can really see him as the noble demon type character, one with standards.

I'm predicting upcoming tragedies to transpire since the mood set by this latest volume is just perfect and ideal to have characters meet their fate, either honorably or tragically. Other than that, it's also possible that Pheles and Johan will take Yuuji and Shana's place as the tragic couple. Maybe.

Seeing as Reiji Maigo was made through Pheles and Johan's love for each other I could see that love being the key to unlocking the true power of the Reiji Maigo. In the final battle against snake I could see either Yuji or Shana about to die only to be saved through a kiss or some sort. Margery was apparently revived through a kiss so why not Yuji and Shana too.

I also wonder say Shana is able to change Yuji back to normal will Yuji go back to being as weak as he was before merging with snake or will he be stronger. Im sure after being with snake all this time he should know how to fight properly and maybe even learned some powerful unrestricted spells. If he he doesn't get any stronger in a fight against someone like snake he will be dead before the fight even begins lol. Though I guess Yuji could always get some kind of power up like Shana did at the end of volume 18 after she found her true self.

Like most of you, I am delighted that the Shakugan no Shana still has many interesting stories waiting to be told. Kudos to Yashichiro Takahashi for such an exciting plot which some of us including myself could not imagine of at first.

In my opinion, the Mare arc in NDS/PS2 Shana game was supposed to be a filler. If I am not mistaken, around the time when Volume 14 was published, Shakugan no Shana Anime series has enjoyed awesome success that has taken both JC Staff and Yashichiro Takahashi by surprise. That is why the author has introduced a lot of new characters in Volume 15 with intention to expand the storyline to a greater height. Otherwise, he would have ended the story around Volume 16, which to our delight, it is not that way. Correct me if I am wrong on this fact.

Margery Daw accepting Keisaku's love? In the Season 2, she did not want Keisaku and Tanaka to get too involved in the fight against Tomogara until they risk their life. Then again, if you examined Margery's past life, she had been betrayed countless times until she finds it difficult to trust anyone else. Well, she really needs the love boost from Keisaku, much like the one Shana obtained from Yuji that enabled her to powerup as in Season 1. Then again, Keisaku is a mere human. Unless he converts himself to a Frame Haze, he surely cannot live with Margery forever.

When Sabrac is being devoured by Snake, does it make Snake even stronger, like the strength of Sabrac is being added to Snake's?

I thought that when Shana reveals her feeling to Yuji, it could somehow prevent the awakening of Snake. Guess that I was wrong.

It is kind of hopeless to see that Shana's group are unable to prevent the awakening of Snake. Then again, the series will get interesting as we get to see the true strength of Snake.

In the picture of Sotf/Yuji looking at Shana, the artist (is it Noizi Ito?) could have drawn Yuji looking at Shana's eyes, instead of her chest. We all know that Sotf/Yuji is looking at Shana's heart as Shana is trying to explain her feeling for him. However, the way the image is drawn is giving us the wrong idea. :(

Sabrac was fighting on snake side and he just went and devoured him lol. Great way to treat your allies or maybe after being sealed for so long he needed some poe so he went after Sabrac who has alot.

With the real snake revived I guess that means Yuji is no longer the final boss?

As for that pic I though Shana killed that guy back in Volume 18 though I may have him confused with someone else.

I think you are right. Allow me to quote digger314's post.

In volume 17, there are some parts that deal with the rise of the real SotF. Basically Shana asks Yuji/SotF what will happen to Yuji when SoTF awakens. SotF replies that the usefulness of the Mystes extends beyond just the Reiji Maigo, so he will be keeping this chess piece in tact. Yuji replies that his only goal is to be with Shana, so he won't sacrifice himself to change the world.

So it sounds like that Yuji is simply an extension of SotF and the awakening of SotF wouldn't change that.

Maybe Sotf/Yuji will be second in command and Snake will be the top leader.

But I'm sure of one thing : Tis is Flamehaze(and one of the oldest) not Tomogaras.

Some of official spelling (I think it's correct since their names rooted from real people or mythical things.) is in here :

The problem is that I have no idea why Dantalion hated Sale. Seems that the anime doesn't touch that.

XV should answer that question.
Sale was once street performer serving under noble people. After he was left behind by his master, Sale met Dantalion and was persuaded to join the experiment. He usually laughed when Dantalion's experiment failed and so they fight each other many times. The Professor was at that time making an experiment to understand the Flamehazes' contracting mechanism following death of many of his own race from theses experiments; thus increased a number of Flamehazes at that time (making Dantalion detested by many/most of the Tomogaras) but most of these flamehazes attacked others, Tomogaras, became insane or killed themselves from despair.

A rare flamehaze from the experiment, Sale didn't break down like others. He doesn't really have a grudge against Tomogaras. It is the reason why he choose to fight by designated orders more than by personal feeling.

Sale called Dantalion 'Oyaji-dono(honorific addressing of 'father)' but Dantalion didn't think of him that way and referred him as an failed product from the experiment.

Hope they do this part too, along with X (Eternal Song).

I thought that when Shana reveals her feeling to Yuji, it could somehow prevent the awakening of Snake. Guess that I was wrong.

It is kind of hopeless to see that Shana's group are unable to prevent the awakening of Snake. Then again, the series will get interesting as we get to see the true strength of Snake.

I believe Snake was awakened before Shana ever reached Yuji, maybe if she made it to Yuji before Snake awoke she could have prevented it.

I'm also interested to see the true strength of Snake. Seems just feeling Snake's power has flame haze going into despair, so I wonder exactly how Shana plans to beat him. Maybe Yuji is the key to defeating Snake. After being merged with him he should know Snake's power pretty well. If Shana is able to reach Yuji's real self maybe he'll tell her Snake's weakness or something.

The thing is, I've really got the feeling that Yuji IS WANTING this to happen. I don't know why, he just is... kinda lost forever, a bit like Lucifer.

However, just maybe, there might be a way out. It is my sincere hope.

Well Yuji merged with Snake to change the truth of the world though I wonder if at the end of the plan they see the same thing. Yuji wants a peaceful world where Snake may want to rule since I read somewhere he takes a like to ruling. After merging Yuji and Snake should know everything about each other well Snake is a god so maybe he was able to keep some secrets from Yuji.

Its definitely possible to make an RPG out of it, just need a good sprite designer. As for Yuji, you can make it to where he levels up through training with Shana and teach him new spells and techniques, just like Pokemon breeding. :topicoff:

I would guess that Snake is stronger than SotF/Yuji?

Seems Shana is at the same level as Yuji now but if Snake is stronger then Yuji she is going to have trouble beating him. Shana will have to deal with Yuji first anyway not like she can fight them 2v1. Then theres the option that Alastor can be summon to fight Snake you kill a god with a god though theres a chance Shana could die. Then again maybe they will need one of Yuji's master plans to beat Snake. I could also see a Shana/Yuji combo to kill Snake.

True Yuji is pretty deep in the hole right now Shana's probably the only one who would forgive him. Kinda reminds me of Sasuke from Naruto he's pretty deep in the darkness as well. In both stories they are beyond forgiveness and the only ones who want to save them are Shana and Naruto.

I see thanks for clearing that up for me. Guess we don't know what snake really looks like other than hes a giant snake. Even people like Sabrac have people they love. Looks like alot of people in this story have connections to love though some seem to end in tragedies. Hopefully Yuji and Shana's won't end that way.

You know. Lovers tend to end up very dead in this series.

Personally I'm enjoying the idea that Yuji and Snake merged, albeit less so by the presence of another Snake who is supposed to be the 'real' one. Could you clarify this as well? Is the 'real' Snake just a portion of the entity that composes the full God-Snake fellow? Or is the Snake that Yuji merged with actually a kind of program designed to bring about the creation of said 'real' Snake?

There are a lot of stuff that the anime didn't adapt, and the anime had an original story arc in the second season.
If you could read the novels in Japanese (or any available language out there), then it's a good choice, but there are some things you can only enjoy when it is animated.

*Honestly, I wished that I could read Japanese 'coz there are barely any translated chapters of the light novels in the Web. T_T*

Damn, will season three cover the merging of Yuji and SoTF I wonder? Where can I get access to translated chapters online?

Hate it when a series is butchered by some adaptation.

But yes, the "merge" will most likely begin on the third (and the chunkiest action-wise) season of Shana.

In vol.XVI, there is an Outlaw branch in Shanghai, known as 『傀輪会』 .The people with the most high rank are called 'Great Elders'. Only one of them the author gives name to us, 項辛. 項辛 is human not Flame Haze but he chose to join an Outlaw out of his affection for 虞軒, Flame Haze, thus he become one of the 'Great Elders' to be together with her. In sudden ambush lead by Sydonay, 『傀輪会』 was totally destroyed with their friends 季重 and 笵勲 died in the battle. 項辛 said he wanted his own death by 虞軒's hand instead of being killed by others and kissed her. 虞軒 followed his last will, beheaded him as he wished. She then went to fight with Sydonay and perished.

項辛 though not Flame Haze is the homage to 項羽(Xiang Yu), one of the most prominent general in Chinese history. He committed suicide after his defeat against Liu Bang.
虞軒 the homage to 虞姫(funny enough, her name is read in English as 'Yuji'), 項羽's beloved concubine who committed suicide the night before his death.
笵勲 the homage to 范增(Fan Zeng), 項羽's advisor.
季重 and 劉陽 are probably the homage to 劉邦(Liu Bang), 項羽's enemy who later overthrown him and become Emperor Gaozu of Han. His former given name is 季(Ji).

Her title is 『輝爍の撒き手』 roughly translated as "Scatterer of Shining Blaze" (kishaku no makite)
Her flame color is Pink. (too cute for someone like her, I seriously mean it!)

Her contractor is “糜砕の裂眥” バラル (bisai no ressei)
Roughly translated as "Widen Eye of Destruction" Balar
(the homage to another name of Balor (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balor), one-eyed king of Fomorians in Irish Mythology)

Balar's divine vessel is called クルワッハ (Cruach). It is a closed-eye shaped golden bracelet.

I'd like to know if some events of the anime are the same in the novel, starting with the fact that in the first episode of the second season, Yuji did not realize that Shana said that she loves him.
also in the very last episode of season 2, when yuji decides to go where shana is, does it happen in the novel too? and what happens next with the other girl?

and is also true that shana doesn't know how to make a baby?

The end of Season 2 with Dantalion's giant metal monster is anime only.

Novel 7 where Dantalion first appears is also slightly different. He isn't affiliated with Bal Masque yet in the novel and he hijacks a train station as his base.

Novel 10 does not appear in the anime at all.

Also, Konoe Fumina is anime only character

From what I understand,

SnH is sealed inside of the Reiji Maigo. Yuji fused with him because both desire the same thing, the end of the war, so Flame Hazes wouldn't have to fight any longer.

I'm sure that's the picture with Sarakiel is from Vol XV.
He's one of the group called "Révolution" which was destroyed around 20th century.
Their ambition is to announce the presence of Crimson Realm to mankind.

His true name is “征遼の睟(Seiryou no Sui)” roughly translate as "Just eyes of Subjugation"
His flame color is jasper.
Destroyed by "Archer of Aurora" Chiara Toscana.

His name comes from Sarakiel , also known as Sariel or Saraqael (and other names), Angel of Death.
He can wound people by a single glance.

Hi, I ended up on this thread while searching for the light novels translations. Sadly, so far my only success was 1-2 short translations posted here. After reading this thread I discovered that the anime covered up to volume 14 (besides some anime stuff wasnt on light novels and vice-versa), and that the main plot is up to a whole new level. However, I would love - for real- to know what the hell happened after volume 14, and I dont feel like waiting until october for 1 episode of 3rd season =/
So, anyone knows where I could read the novels from 14 and ahead? Been searching for 2 days and had 0 luck so far. I can read english and spanish, sadly not a word in japanese yet =/
In the meanwhile, ty much in advance and for the previously posted info :D

PS: any short text about what happened to poor kazumi after being rejected in such a cold hearted way by the end of volume 14/season 2? I didnt see her mentioned at all in these last pages, so I wonder what happened.

Yeah my situations is similar to monteiros. I stubled upon this site because I was looking for a place to discuss as well as read the light novels. Their is no where on the internet that has Light novel translations. I'm interesting in reading volumes 14 and up, but if someone would please give me a quick summary of what happens from volume 14 to the current events that would be great... I'm still pretty new to Shakugan no Shana, and I am currently on the second season and I already have some knowledge of the Light novels from reading this thread. Thats why I really want to know about The snake of the Festival, and the Bal Masque.

baka-tsuki is(or was) slowly tranlsating the novles. But i thnk they only have up to the 3rd one 100% done. : / And of course since offical eng tranlsations past vol 2 arn't out. I'm stuck with slowly dying translation teams on the internet.

It's particularly Viz's fault this time. I've lurked in the translation forums and found out that they were being bugged by the fact that they can be sued by the licensors. Unfortunately, Viz has just published what, THREE VOLUMES? I can't help but feel pissed at Viz because of their inability to push on their project.
