Shinigami in high school! Yes, the arc that follows from the SS arc will be animated. BUT! Not so soon. First, the anime series will go into original scenarios, as already mentioned plenty of times on this comm. After the manga has progressed enough, the series will go back to following the story. The original scenarios will take place in the human world, not Soul Society. But, will shinigami still appear? Wait and see!

I have faith in the filler season. In my opinion the comedy and the characters from Bleach is the main reason to follow it. The fights are usally pretty crappy compared to other shonen-fighting animes.
A filler season could give the characters that's been neglected during the SS arc more screentime.

So far Bleach has only had one filler episode, and I felt that was done quite well. A filler season is the best way to go right now, just so much as they dont hire Naruto's Filler writers ^_^

The only diffrence so far with Naruto (fillers appart) is the constancy in the storyline. The way it never focus on a side-line story for more then an episode or so. The past is also much faster. But you are right that Naruto is getting quite boring. In fact I've stopped watching it lately cause it was too damn boring. I decided to start again once the fillers end. If they ever end that is. ><

Yes well it was a good episode, but it also was a single episode. I fear its not the same game when they alsmost plan an entire season like for Naruto. They have to plan stories several weaks ahead that bind togetter so it dosent look too cheezy. My point is, I've rarely seen such bad fillers when its a single episode. Maybe cause I can see a light at the end.(the preview) Just kidding but I tolerate Short Side story like Don Kanonji.

Knowing the anime would catch up with his work, the self-proclaimed "No. 1 fan of the Bleach anime" - Kubo Tite himself - has provided the animators the perfect plot device for which to develop plausible fillers which might just prove interesting to watch, if not exciting to watch.

Prince of Tennis pulled off some decent fillers, as it's a school setting, so there is potential many funny school aspects of school life.

This is where the Naruto fillers fail to shine, due to its lack of a normal school setting.

I don't have high hopes for the filler episodes. It's not that I don't trust the writers of Bleach, it's just that it's too damn hard to make good episodes and at the same time making it consistant with the main storyline. Perhaps with a few episodes, but then you start running out of ideas...

All I'm hoping for is that they make the transition in and out of the filler season seamless, so that the viewer may choose not to download/buy those eps without it affecting continuity.

Yeah I also thought the old man would go after him, but as he said (the insanly long arc) must finish somewhere. I guess Aizen is the main bad guy thats all. Just the way Oro is in Naruto. Hmm Ichigo seems to get rid of enemies a bit faster then Naruto does though. :p So it might not be the exact same just a presumption. ^^

Sorry, but to discuss why, I need to drop a minor spoiler for after the SS arc. This isn't plot related, but if you click on the tag you'll unveil a cool surprise, so you won't get to enjoy it in the anime. Right after the SS arc, a whole bunch of shinigami captains and vice-captains enlist in Ichigo's school as students. Now, in the manga, the plot happened almost immediately so we never got to enjoy any amusing High School hijinx and humor involving the shinigami learning how to be ordinary students and bonding with Ichigo's school friends like Tatsuki.

You could say that this is a huge flaw. There was tons of story potential that just wasn't used!!! Maybe he skipped right over that and went into the plot, specifically so that it could be used as filler.

Let's just pray that unlike the very few mangaka/author that were involved in the creation of the anime, Kubo doesn't have too long of a break or any at all. Guyver was already released at a snail pace, and I hope the mangaka manage to end the series properly. It's been almost 20 years now.

Although Bleach and Naruto are produced from the same company (Studio Pierrot), they are not directed by the same person.

Bleach is directed by Noriyuki Abe.
Naruto is directed by Hayato Date.

I have much reason to believe that Bleach's fillers will be different (hopefully much better) than Naruto's fillers.

Well done! You have pointed out the exact point where others have not realized: same studio does not mean same animation or even filler quality. Your point may have done more to quell the fears of quite a number of Bleach fans than many explanation posts, including mine, combined.

Another good example of same studio different quality is in Sunrise, just look at Mai HiME and Gundam SEED Destiny.

About what you wrote. I agree, I´m kind of hoping that we get to see some high school comedy. Especially Hitsugaya could be interesting to see, he´s kind of grumpy to be so young. :heh:

I wonder if they will throw in the shinigamis in school from the start of the fillers or if they´ll do it after a while? (Of course this requires the use of shinigamis in the fillers)

As for fillers, I like quite a few of the fillers in One Piece (Usopp vs Daddy the father is awesome :heh: ), so for me atleast fillers isn´t exactly equal to garbage.

The homura arc from gensomaden saiyuki anime was done with the help of Minekura Kazuya who did some of the wiriting and character designs so this isn't the 1st time a filler arc is done with the help of mangaka.

You know, it's so true. That really would work, because...
The Shinigami were sent to the living world to stay "until the Arrankaru problem is solved", and there was no guaranteed that the next attack would happen straight away. There was room for plenty of fun stories about getting used to the living world. I'd be prepared to bet that Shinigami of that level don't go to the living world very often, and Rukia's "juice box" adventure would have been nothing compared to the confusion caused by half-a-dozen Shinigami trying to go incognito.

I feel much more optimistic about the future of Bleach, now.

Only when things get tricky after Hirako's introduction and Ulqiola's visit do they bring in Hitsugaya and the rest.

I think what they'll do is bring in Renji, do like 15 or so fillers with him, then later bring the other shinigami in, and introduce Hirako. Then, wait another few episodes, and bring in Rukia. It's hard to believe they are introducing Renji so soon.

I wonder if, since it's only Renji, he'll be staying in Ichigo's closet :D instead of at Urahara's (or..wherever he's staying)

It's not like their filler will be Da Capo-ish side story BS filler. It should be pretty funny and entertaining, I think. I'm just curious to know if Yachiru ever fights and what Mayuri's background is. He's an awesome captain that got shafted with screen time, IMO.

These are the next few episodes, starting after the break. Looking at the episode title for ep. 64..it looks as if some of the fillers will infact include the shinigami? Not positive however. The other titles give no hint.

I'd love some filler to expand upon various shinigami's powers. For instance, we saw Komamura's bankai but apparently Ken fought it off rather easily (Komamura summons his bankai and then we never see anything about it again...cut to episode 62 and he shows up with just his shikai hand)....also Matsumoto has used her shikai on Kira but we just see the after-effects of it and he's pretty amazed.

I want to see Unohana's bankai and see Yachiru do something other than cheer for Ken.

There's no way Matsumoto can pass as a high school student. I'm pretty sure her unrevealed shikai (unrevealed so far in the anime, I mean) pops buttons off her shirt at lightning speed. Or maybe it's some type of pheremone.

Unlike other shows I think Bleach has room for some awesome filler. Very awesome but so far underused characters:

Not to worry, like Ichigo, all the shinigami just need to pop in those Soul Candy and they'll fight in their Shinigami attire, while their gigais (which they'll need in order for people in the living world to see them) will be occupied by the substitute-souls (Kon is one of the last Mod-Souls, remember, if you don't consider the theory that Ururu and Jinta are one too. )

Ya'know? I've been thinking about the upcoming Bleach fillers and I think that if they are done well, they could be the coolest thing ever.

Sorry, but to discuss why, I need to drop a minor spoiler for after the SS arc. This isn't plot related, but if you click on the tag you'll unveil a cool surprise, so you won't get to enjoy it in the anime. (Probably in episode 65) I'd wait until episode 65 before clicking on any spoiler tags in this thread if I were you.
Right after the SS arc, a whole bunch of shinigami captains and vice-captains enlist in Ichigo's school as students. Now, in the manga, the plot happened almost immediately so we never got to enjoy any amusing High School hijinx and humor involving the shinigami learning how to be ordinary students and bonding with Ichigo's school friends like Tatsuki.

You could say that this is a huge flaw. There was tons of story potential that just wasn't used!!! Maybe he skipped right over that and went into the plot, specifically so that it could be used as filler.

I've heard from what Kubo Tite says in interviews that he is involved in the making of the anime. (Unlike practically every other mangaka!) Perhaps he coordinated with the anime creators to allow this filler opportunity. He might even have written up a loose outline for the writers to use, so they stay within his design.

Yes!!!. This is exactly what Im thinking of. The whole situation with Ichigo's old class mates having lunch together.

Im rooting for more comedy with Bleach than action. I missed those old days of Ichigo and Rukia before Renji and Kuchiki found them

Hopefully that is where the fillers come in, adding a few more funny moments here and there. I'm hoping for some more details about how the shinigami get through daily highschool life :D We didn't really get much..actually barely any..of that.

I think Renji looks up to Ichigo. I guess I can imagine Renji being the vice captain and Ichigo being the captain. So I dont see why he wouldn't be first to go there. Then you can have all of Ichigos female classmates go "gaga gogo" on him...

Ok, now I'm seriously starting to gain some faith in these upcoming fillers :D Hopefully...since they are extending the part where the shinigami come to highschool, they will add some comedy. It was definitely needed. In the manga, there was some comedy, but I had been expecting way more. I assume that they will do things a little differently though, having Renji come in one episode, then the rest the next episode, then wait a while, then have Hirako introduce himself as Vaizored, and finally bring in the Arrancar after a while. Though, at most, this will gain them what?..like 20 chapters? :| I don't think that is enough of a gap.

I'm quite excited about this filler season that had just started, having already watched this week's episode.

If Studio Pierrot is not going to follow the same schematics as they're doing with the Naruto fillers, the Bleach fillers won't be individual, self-concluding episodes rather a complete story arc of its own plot & villains.

Much like the Doma (Orichalcos) arc was from Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters, this Bleach filler arc will showcase an original plot for our heroes to deal with it.

Just curious to know if Studio Pierrot's animation staff is in any manner impersonating Black Cat?

I mean taking a good look at the recent villains they were seemed to be ripped off from the 'Hoshi no Shito' characters from that show.

That is usually how it happens. Fillers are essentially introduced just to give the manga more time to get further ahead of the anime. If they don't do this, then the anime often ends up taking its own route and making up an ending (ie - Hellsing, Negima, etc).
