I personally like Ichimaru's shikai "Shinsou". He knows how to use it will too, like in the fight with Hitsugaya when he used it to pierce through his own captains jacket.:eyespin:

Well, for the statistical side of it, I'll let the poll opened :D and I've added the main Zanpakutou-s (or Soul Cutters, or Soul Slayers, whatever...) we've seen in the anime until now. But please be aware that this poll will become out of date some time, as the story is still progressing.

You really should have put in tousen, aizen, soi fon, and all the other captains we've seen in action.

Anyway, My 3 favs are: Hitsugaya(both shikai and bankai), Gin, and Renji. If renji didn't lose all the damn time his shikai and bankai are awesome!

I also think Rukia's shikai is awesome

This is why I put the "Other" choice, I didnt enough slots for all the others, I just listed the ones that really caught my attention.

Yeah, I didn't expect Rukia to even have a shikai, but hers impressed me as its pretty cool looking, I wanted to see in full color though..:uhoh:

I really like Ichigo's shikai and bankai. His shikai is one huge meat-cleaver :D while his bankai is seriously badass..with the really tight-ish clothes and the long skinny sword :D

I really really like Renji's shikai. It's fast..but I feel like he got seriously jipped on his bankai. -.- It seems slow..and it's not very impressive..

Hitsu's bankai/shikai are okay...his bankai isn't so awesomely-cool like Ichigo's. Neither is his Shikai. A big ice dragon? Nah...doesn't really catch my attention. *shrug*

Actually you can have 10 poll choices, there are only 7 here, Aizen or Byakuya can easily be fitted in. I would rather have an open thread without poll thought, since there are so many forms :D

My favourite shikai is Momo's. Pink death for the win! It's like a super-concentrated version of Byakuya's, which is my second choice. She isn't too good at controlling it either, which I like for some reason. I've never been a fan of accuracy.

Why does Soifon get no love? Her zanpakuto has an intersting ability which doesn't rely on damage, but just simply kills them dead. Bankai would be very interesting to see. Lots of floating hornet summons?

Anyway, another one I liked was Senbonzakura. It's just the way BK calls release phrases. Zangetsu though is actually very boring.

The reason I like BK's so much is it has many cool effects. Such as dropping the sword into the ground. It also has many attachments like annialationscape and endscape. Both were awesome.

I do like Hitsugaya and Byakuya's Shikais (Rukia's Shikai is awesome too!)...but my favourite Shikai (up 'til now) would definitely be Yamamoto Genryuusai's. All that crazy-ass fire when he releases his Zanpakutou.

As for favourite Bankai...well, Ichigo's is cool and all, but I'd have to give the nod to Kuchiki Byakuya. He has an unbelievable amount of control over his Bankai, and it has like what, 3 or 4 different stages/forms? And that final stage, Hakuteiken...too cool for words! :bow: :bow: :bow:

I love Urahara’s Benihime. The shikai form is simple and very artistic looking. I feel that Urahara already knows that his zanpakutou has same ability as Zangetsu (the power slash) so that it is more easier for him to train Ichigo.

Ichigos shikai is not only the shape, but the power (cant remember what its called) to eat his spirit force and fire those huge blasts. He could almost hold off Byakuya's bankai with it. Byakuya is still the best. I voted to early so I voted for Gin.

i was completely hypnotized by Yamamoto Genryuusai Shigekuni's zanpakutou, (walking stick/really bad ass zanpakutou).....and ofcourse u cant forget Zangetsu...just a really great sword.......i dont mean to be rude but u spelled zanpakutou wrong on the title......and i never saw Rukia's shikai, did they show it in the first episode?

I liked Ichigo's old sword more, the one thats a huge buster sword kinda like clouds from ff7. The big pointy sharp one was cool too but this new ones kinda seems odd, did anyone else notice it has a nazi like design by the handle?:confused:

Plus his suit doesnt look as great as the old death god clothes.

I think one of my favourites so far is Byakuya's bankai, the way his sword falls into the ground like water is a cool affect.

What is Matsumoto Rangiku's (10th Co-Captain) sword do?, all i can remember is the blade disapears dispursing flower pedals as it vanishes.

Argh! Hyourinmaru's in second! IMO, zangetsu is overrated, since with a deal of training, one could attain similar speeds to the bankai... Added bonus with Hyourinmaru, ice can be used to slow down your enemies, giving you added leverage when you use shunpo. ^^

*EDIT* Wasn't his shikai the dragon? IMO, his shikai is better, since I am not 100% sure what the bankai does...

As has been mentioned endlessly, the hilt of Ichigo's bankai is in the shape of a manji or sauvastika which is the counterpart of the swastika. The difference is in the direction of the arms which rotate counter-clockwise on Ichigo's swordhilt instead of clockwise as the swastika does. In Buddhist religious symbolism, the sauvastika is a night symbol that stands for the powers of the unknown. Corresponding to that, the swastika is a sun symbol.

These symbols exist in many different cultures and are many centuries, even millenia old. They predate nazism so much that it is an insult to these ancient and revered symbols that they have come to be associated with that cause.

The main reason that the manji is used as the hilt of Ichigo's sword is that it is also the kanji for 'ban' as in 'bankai.' In this context, it means final.

The officer is question is strong enough to fill one of the empty captain places, but chooses to stay and fight under his current captain.

that shinsou he use was pretty much stealth, even the way he was fightin the speed was very much deadly, not as deadly as flash move or hollow ichigo, but the speed he was movin his sword. And that shinsou was strong enough to pierce through ranjikus sword.

I like senbonzakura and suzumushi best. Senbonzakura simply because of its simplicity yet strength. Its practically unblockable, and its too pretty XD Suzumushi, its bankai actually, because it is really a very creative bankai. heh, i don't particularly like hitsugaya's zanpaktou. i strongly dislike hitsugaya's bankai, it seems so unspecialized and meh; his shikai on the other hand is ridiculous.

on the other hand, i actually really like gin's zanpaktou, and just the thought of his bankai turns my pants to jelly :\

Best Zanpaktous that I like:

+ Senbonzakura: I like the initial release when the blade scatters like flowers. And the bankai is simply awesome too!
+ Hyourinmaru: Ice/Water is always my favorite element.
+ Ryujinjaka: my second favorite element (fire). Beside, it looks cool when old man swings it around.
+ Kyoka Suigetsu: illusions :)
+ Zangetsu: badass. especially the bankai part.
+ Wabisuke: i like the double the weight thing effect.
+ Shinsou: the fact it was short and it was stretchable makes it cool.
+ As for the other, I like Ichinose Maki's Nijigasumi.

there are so many cool shikai's/bankai's so it was a hrd decision but i chose
Rangiku's shikai because its strong and because I would like to see her achieve bankai, guessing it would be pretty awesome to and not like renjis or ikkakus bankai >,<..

I also like Kira's shikai alot, double the weight everytime, think of the potential of that shikai if kira would get stronger.

if you actually think about it, kira's wabisuke has the best shikai. he can miss slashing you on purpose, bang, your sword drops, and then you're screwed! however, we don't know if just calling bankai will cancel that out. :confused:

Ichinose Maki's Nijigasumi is pretty kewl too, if you ask me, though it's only in the filler eps
Hyourinmaru is one of the coolest zanpakutou in Soul Society both Shikai and Bankai Daiguren Hyourinmaru

I think Senbonzakura has the most versatility b/c of its 3 or 4 bankai modes. Hundred thousand, sword thing, angles wings etc. It could basically be molded into a variety of attacks. Plus, THEY'RE ALL BLADES!!!

I also like Benihime b/c of the shield and the blasty thing. Kind of like Zangetsu, but with a mysterious and possibly not suited for combat bankai.

I bet Kenpachi's will turn out cool...And what about vizard? They seem strong enough not even useing shikai...(shinji vs. grimm) Imagine the power they'll have with bankai

I choose the sword Ichigo wielded in the very beggining - it's obviously anti-hollow only (not suitable to fencing) and much better than regular toothpicks at it (ordinary shinigami are forced to fight using the cowardly tactics of backstabbing), not ridiculously overpowered and stays silent.

AGGGHHHH~~~~!!! Torn between Byakuya's and Hitsugaya's zanpakutous...T____T but I chose my favorite gaki (brat). :heh: Not that I see Hitsu as a brat, it's my affectionate way of calling him in my crazy daydreams. LOL. :love:

Byakuya - very versatile. I mean, if he was able to control all those various stages of his zanpakutou's bankai and used it it a single round (like what he did with Ichigo...)...you're dead meat...

Hitsugaya - his zanpakutou is supposed to control even the weather when he releases it, so it's cool. Its freezing effect is even cooler. :D and a DRAGON~~~!!! Who could possibly go wrong with a dragon for a summon?! :love: For some strange reason he looks more like Vergil from Devil May Cry rather than Super Saiyan Trunks...both (Hitsu and Vergil) could seem aloof and cold to those people who don't really know them that well...plus they both wield katanas...and they both have silver hair and beautiful ice blue (or in Hitsu's case, ice blue/green) eyes...*foams at the mouth* Ahem. Anyway, you could probably tell by the way I adore my chibi gaki with this post why I love him better than anybody else on Bleach. LOL. :heh:

Soi Fong - the shikai was just unique, and given Soi Fong's speed and its effect, her zanpakutou's shikai could be very deadly (unless I'm mistaken that somebody is faster than Soi Fong compared to Yoruichi in the speed department [as Yoruichi > Soi Fong]). I have a thing for painful inflicted deaths. :naughty:

Urahara - Benihime's awesome, and somehow reminds me of Chinese style swords by the way it looks. And it's powerful, in comparison to Zangetsu too. I want to see his bankai.

Kyouraku and Ukitake - twin zanpakutous are interesting. I want to know what they can do (besides that battle with Yamajii :frustrated: )

Ichigo - cool, but not as cool as Byakuya's though. :heh:

Now if Orihime's fairies were really part of a zanpakutou, I would probaly billet myself into the Arkham Asylum for having just witnessed that she has become uber powerful (I mean, if that said zanpakutou could actually DO all those things...:twitch: )...I like Orihime, but I would rather that KT would leave the fairies as is and not think of this silly evilness that just popped into my head at this VERY moment.

My favorite Zanpakuto is

Sode no Shirayuki. Not only is it one of the prettiest Zanpakuto in Soul Society, it's also has multiple attacks (first dance, second dance.) I just think it's very fitting for Rukia because of its elegance, she really looks like a Kuchiki when she's weilding shirayuki. Besides, everytime we see Shirayuki in action, it's always at dramatic moments. Not to mention, the sword has history in the Bleach manga, Ichigo was using Shirayuki from the beginning, the design on the hilt is the same.

I also like Suzumebachi because I think KT went all out with his creativity in creating Soi Fong's sword. Double stings in the same place = death. It's actually quite sadistic and allows Soi Fong to play with her enemy before dealing the final blow.

Kyouka Suigetsu: hypnosis over brawn, enough said. It is the most powerful sword in SS that allowed Aizen to fool everyone and cause disorder and conflict and distraction while he implemented his plans. Compared to something like Senbonzakura or Hyourinmaru, it certainly is more conducive to defeating a whole bunch of powerful enemies without expending much energy.

Yeah the contrast between Shirayuki and Tensa Zangetsu is quite amazing because no other shinigami has a completely black sword or a completely white sword. Hmm isn't it funny that it just happens to be Ichigo and Rukia who wield these Zanpaktous?

And Shirayuki should be on the poll, it is one of the main characters Zanpaktou and we've seen it in action quite a few times :frustrated:

for me:

Shikai: Izuru Kira's Wabisuke (侘助, lit. miserable man, but can also be translated as apology)

It has the coolest ability imho, double the weight of what you strike.. together with the hooked tip as if the zanpakutou is weighing itself down.. I really wonder what kind of Bankai that one's got if he's ever going to get to that :D

Bankai: it's a tie between Madarame Ikkaku's Ryūmon Hōzukimaru (龍紋鬼灯丸, lit. Dragon Crest Demon Light), and Kurosaki Ichigo's Tensa Zangetsu (天鎖斬月, lit. Heavenly Chain Moon Cutter)

With a slight lean towards Ikkaku after the last episode.. new Bankais are always cool :D

My favorite by far is Yama-ji's Ryūjin Jakka mainly because I like fire-elemental stuff. That and he caused massive fiery doom just releasing it(not even attacking O.o). Hope we see more of it.

Those close behind are:

Matsumoto's Haineko-Apparently the ash is in the form of a cat when standing(?), but from what we already saw it can cut through brick with so much ease. We don't see enough of it though.

Kira's Wabisuke-Very cool ability with nice potential if Kira was more skilled with it. He'd make an invincible Vaizard.

Ichinose's Nijigasumi-Too bad Ichinose had to die. His rainbowish attacks from his Shikai were cool looking and the light from it is lethal. Would've been better if he Bankai'd before getting the hose...

Renji's Zabimaru-His Shikai is decent, but he's kinda like Ichigo when it comes to Bankai... he needs training to master it(tho Ichigo has a hollow side to cheat his way to mastering his). Zabimaru is still an awesome sword despite it's owner's losing record.

They did show the second dance Hakuren in the new OP . Its looks really cool and the BGM is at a tempo, suites it well (1.12 onwards )

Good question...what DOES SnS stand for?

My favorite Bankai has to be Byakyua's senbon. There is just something really sweet about being able to control millions of tiny, sharp blades that can cut through anything.

Shikai: Sode no Shirayuki.
First impression was great, and it just keeps getting cooler with each dance added. The most recent one won me over, and I can't wait to see what kind of a Bankai it will have.
Bankai: Zangetsu. I was floored when Ichigo powered up and his sword wasn't humongous, and actually shrank. Anyways, I like how it's different from all the other Bankai we've seen and turns Ichigo into a speed demon.

Shikai: Sode no Shirayuki.
First impression was great, and it just keeps getting cooler with each dance added. The most recent one won me over, and I can't wait to see what kind of a Bankai it will have.

Yeah Shirafune is a really nice dance . That makes SnS the only shikai to have three dances/moves , Ura comes close behind with 2 . Though I am little biased with tSukishiro guess has more to do with only dance being animated

But it cant beat the activation of Shirafune : San no Mai , Shirafune and Espada 9 goes poof
Just a thought ...

Though Soi's Suzumebachi has more to do with Hornet, whilst stabbed Hōmonka a butterfly emerges . So the materialization of Suzumebachi will be Papi (http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/8938/papillionbrqs3.jpg) :heh:

Since I had no idea what he was talking about, I googled and found out Hoshikudaki was the wooden sword of Gintama's main character.

Since Gintoki, the main character of Gintama complains about how he wish he has Bankai while reading Jump and dreams about pulling Bankai in his dreams, I think it qualifies.

I voted for Ikkaku's by mistake, but I meant Kira's Wabisuke.

Wabisuke has got to be the best sword there is in terms of dueling.
Kira vs Ichigo - Kira wins! Ichigo would hit his sword so many times, he'd plummet, and -CHOP- off it goes!

Ikkaku's is still cool tho, the sheer power that he could take down that Arrancar with, fairly and squarely, better than Renji and Hitsugaya.

I don't really like Byakuya 'cos it's overpowered. Omnidirectional - no skill. :) I bet he didn't have to work too hard at getting it, since he's from a royal bloodline.

Byakuya's is my fav. Looks cool and is deadly. If you could use a captains powers IRL, I would quickly nab Byakuya's. Since I'm in a wheelchair, Byakuya's bankai would work wonders for me since you can control it with your eye's.

Zangetsu may seem real cool and senbonzakura look so graceful(right way in describing it?), we can't deny that kira's wabisuke is one of the strongest zanpaktso.... Lets see... Against a meelee fighter, kira would be the winner unless the opponent is moving at a much much faster speed... Wabisuke gets my vote...;)

i havent seen gin's bankai but i bet its very cool,

about renji's and hitsi its like we have seen them too much and their getting boring.
same with itchi, but ikkaku's bankai is awsome, he looks so cool with that one

I think Soi Fong's Zanpakuto is very unique in the sense that the user would have to be very capable of hand-to-hand and close distance combat in order to use if efficiently.

I think it is very possible for Zaraki to get at least a shikai because it was after a crushing defeat Ichigo learned Zangetsu's name and Ichigo gave Zaraki a crushing defeat. And yeah Zaraki Zanpakutou FTW

Zaraki has said his Zanpakto is a constant release one, like Ichigo. Besides doesn't the irregularity of it make it obvious? However if you mean it's ability, then yeah, but Kubo would be hard pressed to find an ability worthy and badass enough for such an awsome character like him.

I put Byakuya down for mine, Senbonzakura is just filthy, like he just stands there and watches people get owned hard.

I really like how ichigo's bankai, i loved how he transformed the first time. i almost cried cause i couldn't handle all the uberness.

also when byakuya says.. "chire zebonzakura" it s just so cool. i thought it was funny cause when he said that in front of ichigo on the bridge. rukia was like omfg! run! ichigo! you're gonna get owned!
i'd like him to do desert coffin with his his flowers, it would be cool.

since ichimaru shikai is so simple i don't expect it to be artistically impressive(but it will own nonetheless) maybe more than one blade shoots out:confused:

I voted for Kira's Zanpaktou, I mean seriously, it's almost invincible - if the opponent is not really fast as someone mentioned before - still he can even beat Ichigo with it, for sure. but well then again the speed problem :heh:

but i chose ichigo, cuz his bankai looks so awesome, even though it's not 'big.' though i can't say i like ichigo's shikai...

I had to go with Toushirou on this one. Not only is he my fav character but his Zankpaktou is quite spectacular. Though I feel like he doesn't really use it to its potential, but that might be because of his time limit.
Wabisuke was a really close runner up because I love the doubling of the weight, it's such a great power. Byakuya's Senbonzakura(sp?) is a good one, and so is Ichigo's Zongetsu, but Byakuya's never really impressed me as much as Ichigo's, though Ichigo seems to just fight so poorly and Zongetsu's true power isn't really determined. My second placer was Rukia's Zanpakto though, hers is awesome!
