I finally convinced myself to buy this, after all, best racer I played on GBA has to be F-Zero climax, and I was really looking forward to a very decent one for the DS. I'll be getting this in a few days (I do 96% shopping online), and my online gaming name will be the same mangatron, and you'll most likely see me online in the afternoon, Asia/Pacific region time zones. Any else of you I should look out for? :heh:
And of course, you can discuss the game in general here, the old thread is somewhat gone, and I was surprised there wasn't a new one...
By the way I was also thinking of using this thread as post game chat.
I got this for christmas and I really cannot get into it in single player but it really shines in multiplayer through. My biggest deal with SP was alll you do is race the same exact tracks in all classes 50cc,100cc,150cc. It gests boring really fast unless you like mario kart alot but the Battle mode and the Mission modes are really good though and the game has some hidden abilies like BOOST and TURBO BOOST POWERSLIDE.
If people here were to put up their Wireless Nintendo codes we could play together VIA WiFi.

Wireless Nintendo codes?! You mean for private games between Asuki members?

Basically Friend Code, each player has his or her own Friend Code you can enter to your DS and race with. I haven't gotten around to calling my ISP and changing my cable connection to wireless, so I can't really comment more on it. But I do know you need your FC when you play with your buddies.

A bit strange yes, but Nintendo's new to the whole online thing I guess :P I personally find the ways to find matches is rather limited and a bit annoying as well on wifi...

Err, that's not quite true. Nintendo's already experimented with some form of online all the way back to the Famicom and NES, all of which failed because they just were difficult to implement or they were a bit ahead of their time and no one in the gaming community was interested (I guess that'd explain why they were reluctant this time around with the Cube).
Here's the link to Nintendo's past experiments with online gaming (http://www.n-sider.com/articleview.php?articleid=258)

lol this was so funny, I just finished a wifi match online, lol this was the most hilarious match ever. The first time I went online, I went up against a japanese guy and other two guys from who knows where, and I had my chances to win, but I seemingly nerfed myself because I was so nervous lol...so, I go online again with two of the previous players, so off we went the three of us. I won the first track race, and the second one, I was so psyched to race I chose that Baby Park track, and LOL I had it won for the first 4 laps and the final fifth map I choked :heh: So, you can probably guess how mad I was, no I didn't break my DS lol. When the time came to choose the next track, I chose the same Baby Park and LOL, the Ninetendo computer chose my choice, and off we went lol. And this time I learned from my mistakes in the previous race and I won this race hands down. The next map I won very easily because I had the 3 mushroom boost power and I took the shortcut lol (Desert Hill)
Whew, that was hilariously insanely fun lol, I was so cracking up when we went Baby Park back to back :heh: ah, am I so glad I bought this game...

An't it cute ;)
Anyway does anyone know what snaking is?.

Snaking is when you drift and boost on a straightaway. Basically, you use the games drifting on a straight path. And that, is not a fun thing to do, and not a fun person to verse. I've been meaning to blog some of my races, and one thing you can identify, a snaker is someone who has a sick, nasty ratio. I've seen someone at 400+ wins and only double-digit losses. Add to the fact that when that particular person choose's yoshi, toad or Bones, and when they choose any track with a wide road, you have a snaker. Whenever I see someone like that, and the game only matches me up one on one with them, I disconnect before the race starts. Those snakers are no fun and they're all about stats. I just hate it when they choose "Yoshi Falls" or "Yoshi Circuit", and you see them just warp, lag and just swing side to side on the track. They are absoultely no fun at all :(

sorry if this is an old thread but yeah i have mario kart ds and i understand the whole snaking thing, i've raced someone with a record of 2,031 wins and 20 loses. now you can't tell me that's all skill. but anyway as far as friend codes goes you both need each others codes to race and i have a code myself if you want to trade just let me i suppose it's easier then tossing a code out there...-
