Seeing as the downfall of Akatsuki is inevitable:( .
Would it be lame to introduce new more powerful villains or would focusing on character development be more practical. Personally i would like to see some loose ends tied up like who are Narutos parents and maybe some relationships between characters to develop. Then introducing some new antagonist would seem suitable.

with the end of akatsuki i think the series will end :(
It depends on who the akatsuki leader is basically...
some people think orochimaru will be the main villian but i really dont, i think the akatsuki basically has set itself up to be and the naruto manga can still go quite awhile before finishing up even if akatsuki is the last thing.
Im kinda mixed about the whole thing because i'd like naruto to stay around for a long time, but i'd like most things to be cleared up by the end of akatsuki and i hope the series doesnt drag on and on.
In these kinds of animes... the downfall of ANY enemy is always inevitable...
The only question is how much damage they do and how long they manage to last... and how awsome of a fight they put up
But ya... Once Akatsuki is gone, Ochimaru will quickly follow (or visa-versa), and then the series may just come to an end...
If naruto goes on any longer then that i can't help but feel as though it will just start dragging on after a while...
I'm not sure how they can throw in new enemies and give them same feel of importance as the current villians...
Not to mention... by the time that Ochimaru and Akatsuki are beaten, the characters will be pretty ridiculously powerful as it is...
I don't think Kishimoto can introduce significantly more powerful ninjas than already exist without seriously questioning the plausibility of the series. Whether or not he's willing to do that, I don't know, but we already have enough major villains to last a long time. 8 Akatsuki, Tobi, Orochimaru, Kabuto and Sasuke make 12. Maybe Danzou too.
Still, I think there's one other situation to resolve other than Akatsuki and Orochimaru: the Bijyuu. It seems to me that the presence of these evil demons screwing up the lives of the people they're sealed in is a situation that won't be left intact by Kishimoto if the series is going to run to completion. We've still got, what, 5 unintroduced Bijyuu to take care of? Not to mention whatever happened to the ones Akatsuki already took, maybe the giant summon itself?
And finally, I think resolution will be brought to Kyuubi before the series is through. We've seen recently that Naruto's situation with Kyuubi is becoming extremely unstable. The Deidara fight was ominous foreshadowing that Kyuubi is gaining influence over Naruto and could become a serious danger to those around him in the future. I suspect that by the end of the series, either Naruto will draw out 8/9 Kyuubi tails and go on a rampage so his friends have to stop him, or Kyuubi itself will somehow break out of the seal and Naruto will have to take care of it once and for all.

Actually, Zek...the number of demons are how many tails they have. Gaara had Ichibi (the first one--one tail.) while Naruto has the last one (Kyuubi--nine tails...ninetales...god...the most powerful demon in the narutoverse is a pathetic little pokemon!)
So aside from Naru's and Gaara's, there are SEVEN more.

do we even have evidence that the akatsuki has captured any of them? and plz tell me when it says that naruto's losing control
Actually, Since Akatsuki is directly within the storyline of the demons, i think that everything concerning the Demons will be just about done when Akatsuki is just about done...
and, in the very end, everything concerning Naruto's demon will probably come just after that...
and plz tell me when it says that naruto's losing control
He started loosing control in both the fight against sasuke and that last part of the fight with Deidara... when Naruto starts releasing Kyuubi tails he starts loosing control aswell
do we even have evidence that the akatsuki has captured any of them?
Im pretty sure its stated somewhere ^_^.. i'll try find it if no one knows when.
Nevermind, Thanks Zek

I was excluding the ones that Akatsuki already caught. They had taken two of them before extracting Shukaku, leaving five Jinchuuriki remaining besides Naruto. I guess it's still possible that we'll see the first two in some form though.

Deidara says early in the fight that they've already captured two(when he's talking about how no one tried to save them), which is confirmed by the number of pupils on the giant summon.
Kisame's shark-like appearance and his sword Samehada are related to the Three-Tailed Shark in Japanese legend known as Isonade so I'm guessing he has the third Biju.

It's been discussed, but there's still something missing from that theory. First of all, it doesn't seem like Akatsuki started collecting Bijyuu until some time during the timeskip(they supposedly spent that time setting up the jutsu) , and Kisame has been like that since we first saw him. Furthermore, all three of the Bijyuu hunted in this fashion are still inside the leader's giant summon. This means that if Kisame is a Jinchuuriki, he must have joined as one, and I can't think of any good reason why Akatsuki wouldn't simply take his Bijyuu right away. There are obviously members who could have handled him.

Speculation. Guessing is the keyword there.

You guys forgot about Sasuke. If Orochimaru is defeated, it doesn't necessarily mean Sasuke will be on the good side:uhoh:
Moreover, it doesn't have to be about this timeline. Maybe a story about the previous hokages, or how all the Bijuu were captured in their things (like Shukaku in his kettle).

Hard to say when it will end. Kishimoto has left alot of questions without answers. I don't think he will end the series anytime soon. We still haven't even seen all the hidden villages. Only way I see it ending anytime soon is if they have an all out war between everyone.
Maybe in the end Akatsuki will acquire many of the demons and all the villages will come together to oppose them. But for a war like that to happen Kishimoto will have to shine light to other countries and thier Key players.
That's the only quick ending that I can see, other than that there are too many left questions. And I personally think he leaves alot of open ended possibilities so that he can go to another direction with the story if he needs to. There are still village that we haven't seen and aside from sand and leaf. We haven't seen much of the other villages.

well actually, right now we have 8 members of akatsuki... they have obtained 3 of the 9 demons, and naruto has one of the reamining 6 they don't have... and there are only 3 more villages... and we also know that both the sand and Leaf have no more demons to be revealed
Considering all that, it seems VERY possible that the hunt for the demons and the battle against akatsuki could reach out to the 3 reamining villages... We'll probably see the other villages as well as their major players, and Naruto will make new friends as well as new enemies (though none will top akatsuki or Ochimaru)...
Hell, Kishimotot may not even go into great detail fo one or two of villages... just thow in a few scenes of Akatsuki attacking the villages hunting for the demons... he'll reveal one or two chracters from the village that will eventually run into naruto, but never going into full detail of the village
not to mention... for all we know, kishimoto could be planning a sort of sequel to Naruto... i say "sort of" because it would only be a sequel in the sence that it happens in the same world as Naruto, but as little or nothing to do with the orginal.. it would not star Naruto(though he may make a cameo) and it would focus on ninjas in another village, such as rock or cloud... thus he may skip going into detail now, and save it for later... the village has its own stories and can have a completely fresh and new storyline
Considering that Naruto is its own unique world... such a sequel could be possible and turn out to be just as good as the orginal... if handled correctly ofcourse
All in all... the Naruto series AS WE KNOW IT... will most likely come to an end when Akatsuki and Ochimaru are beaten... Ofcourses, that will probably take sometime, so it won't be ending anytime too soon...
After they are beaten we'll probably just get an ending that provides some closure
and more then likely... instead of closing the series, the anime team will do like they did to mangas in the past, such as kenshin, and extend the anime far longer then it was supposed to be in an attempt to milk it for everything its worth

Exactly what I said. Even if all this was to take place Naruto is still not ending anytime soon. If you consider how long 1 fight seems to last in the recent chapters all the questions un answered would take (flashbacks) time. plus the fights and we get 1 chapter a week with some weeks skiped so your still looking at around a year.
I highly think Kishimoto is going to keep going, keep in mind that he is a DB fan and he has always wanted what he currently has with Naruto. A highly ranked Manga. I don't think he is going to let this fame go anytime soon. And risk with a new Title just yet, he may start a new title as Naruto is slowly comming to an end though.
But even now more questions than answers are being raised.
